OOC: Since this deal offers a very special oppertunity for the DMG banking corporation, me and Macabees thought I'd be a swell idea to create a special threat for it. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447266 That's the main thread for those interested. This is going to be a kinda financial style roleplay. Something different than the usual war and diplomacy stuff. Now onto the IC bit.

A Banking Dilemma

Hoogenbosch, Free State of Rooi-Nassau, Guffingford

Times are difficult. Times are hard, and times are not good for international enterprises. The Kriegzimmer, a mainly Macabee adventure in the international business scene, and with some financial and practical help from Guffingford, it turned out to be quite a profitable, yet unpredictable venture. High quality, big profits, high profit margins, the holy words of a successful company. Still, despite of all the financial hardships things were doing fairly okay, compared to other international storefronts.

Now comes the tricky part, where to store such vast sums of wealth? The Macabee bank doesn't do such large accounting, the First National Bank & Trust Company here in Hoogenbosch doesn't want it, and others? Well, we haven't seem then lining up, so there's only one real option, and it ain't our first choice. The DMG International Bank, obscure and unknown to many citizens of said nations sprung into view. A lucrative oppertunity, not very well known. A perfect place to keep such amounts out of sight. Therefore, this message was sent. Short and to the point. Expectable from Lancelot Du Lac, the minister of financial affairs in Guffingford.

Dear reader of the DMG International Bank,
Your establishment on the banking stage has spiked our interest, and since we are looking for a stable partner for our collective financial needs. You see, I am speaking here as the Guffingfordii representative of the Macabee enterprise Kriegzimmer, a major producer of defence technology, partially aided by Guffingfordii scientists. We have chosen your company to fulfill our banking needs. We only request three things, summed up here.

1. A diamond account, good for 12.700.000.000.000,- Ðukaat Guldens (Ðucat Guilder; ÐG), pegged to the State Gold Value of Guffingford. Therefore it is not subject to inflation or deflation in any nation.

2. The absolute guarantee of your Master Banker of the monthly (and therefore annual) payment of interest, in gold certificates to the First National Banking & Trust Company. The interest rate must be held the same at all times, as agreed by your absolute guarantee.

3. Absolute discretion of our banking business with your company. We expect we are to be treated with the highest respect, and the secrecy of our transactions to be upheld at all times.

Harbinger read over the national newspaper, detailing Lancelot Du Lac's recent investment within DMGs international bank. After the failure of UniBank after years of preperation UniBank had stuck with just being the Empire's national bank, and consequently, didn't offer Harbinger any further control of international trade; something he wanted to harness for the success of his clandestine economic terrorists, the Knights of Pir-Sar. Well, terrorism was a harsh word, and the Knights were somewhat more high class than that; indeed, they all were in some form or shape high business men who were ready to kill for the success of their business - unfortunately, none of them got through their head the fact that they were property of Harbinger, owner of Kriegzimmer and all weapons manufacturing within the Empire, and owner of near or over seventy percent of the Empire's gas and electric energy, slowing forming that into yet another monopoly.

He hummed to himself. Interesting. He had a series of ideas pop into his head that would rival those ideas that he once had for UniBank, and the DMG International Bank was perhaps the perfect jump start for his slow take over of international economics - of course, not that it would be at all detrimental to DMGs economy, for to be linked with one of the largest armament exporters in the world was to make big bucks if you knew how to play your cards right.

But first, before he could even think about such ideas, he had to research into this said bank first. Although it was a standard size economic power internationally, the Empire had not gone through the craze of investing their money there, noticing several key flaws within the bank. Nonetheless, perhaps now things would change as Guffingford invested there. Of course, Guffingford had no room for economic mess ups, so the investment must have been sane. Hmm. Harbinger had to get some questions answered first. So, he sat down to write the bank a letter of sorts. A very high priority letter.

To: DMG International Bank

Concerning your bank I have a very interesting proposition for you and your bank. We are a very trusted armaments company, selling to over twenty nations so far, and that done regularly. However, I have a very special project in mind. Genetics. I don't know if you fully understand the concept of the need for money in genetics, especially when the host government is only allowing it for a single research group, which isn't off. Indeed, most of the money is going to pay off the administration. Consequently, we need a lot of money, and your priority loan isn't going to cut it.

Frankly, we figure you have around fifteen trillion United States Legal Tender in your bank. Of this, a lot of it is for your reserve, which you cannot dig into. However, we wish to ask for roughly have of that, or seven trillion United States Legal Tender. This is an absolutely huge transaction, and it would treaten your bank otherwise, but, we must reiterate the amount of trust you can put in a company with a name like ours. Do not think that we will throw away our good name and not pay back an international bank. Indeed, we offer you the deal of a life time. Those seven trillion will duplicate into fourteen trillion United States Legal Tender within four months of the loan.

Where will we come up with the money? Easy. The current trading patterns have put seventy percent of the Empires gas and electric industry under my thumb. Monthly, I receive ten to one hundred times the amount of money I took out, but I cannot spend this money on something as obvious as genetic research when it's illegal, so I need the money from a third party, which in this case would be you. Hopefully, you will comply. Remember, we are a high priority party.

We are pleased to see that you have come to the DMG International Bank for your monetary needs. I am quite aware of the Macabee enterprise Kriegzimmer, as I myself deal in the business of military products, and so we would love to help you.

2. This is where it becomes a bit shady. The point of monthly compounding of interest is to increase the value of the account greater than that of annual compounding. I am sure that you are aware that at the end of every month you would recieve interest on your money and on the interest that you have recieved from previous months - however if you would like the interest delivered to First National Banking & Trust Company (which is acceptable), than I propose that we give you an annuall deposit of 12% interest.

3. But of course. All transactions and files are kept at the utmost secrecy. They are conisdered classified information and remain in one of our numerous vaults.

I know of your companies name and business as it is will respected in the industry. However I would like to make a few things clear before confirming a loan of this magnitude. First, I would like to just say that it seems what you would like us to do is launder money - as we have no problem with this and are not held to the laws of your nation, this is not a problem. Secondly, although we do not agree with cloning and look down upon it unless for medical stimulation, we will look past the money's use and still grant the loan. Finally, we have to write out the details of the loan: When it will be repaid and the amount of interest to be repaid.
