The Arisone Incident (Open RP)

Moses Land
22-10-2005, 07:29
Colonel Arisone flew his T-7 fighter over The Decapitated Mime. It was a strange name for a nation. It was said it was named by the country's leader, who had a strange, sadistic sense of humor. It wasn't hard to believe The Decapitated Mine's dictator was sadistic. In the last 3 weeks The Decapitated Mimes and their ally Jfo had been threatening Moses Land with embargos and raids on ships. Arison's fighter was over Decapitated Mime to send a warning.

"This is Arisone to base. I'm picking up some..."

Arisone didn't have time to finish his sentence. Suddenly, he knew what he had picked up: weapons fire. The surface-to-air missles on The Decapitated Mime began firing at his T-7. Arisone maneuvered, escaping most of the fire.

"This is Arisone to base. The Decapitated Mimes have begun firing, and holy...they're sending their own fighters at me!"

Arisone took more hits. He fired back, even hitting a few of the many fighters now filling the skies, but as good a pilot as he was, he couldn't escape them all. Within minutes, his plane was spiraling toward the surface. He tried to eject, but he was too low.

"It looks like I'm the first casuality of this war," Arisone thought. That was his last thought.

Parliament of Moses's Dominion.

The chamber hadn't been so active since the plague had started, years ago. All the MPs were excited in a very sad way -- excited that their country would be at war with two others. The Decapitated Mimes and their ally, Jfo, hadn't officially declared war, but the fact that they were assembling armies in each other's lands didn't make it seem like they were thinking of peace.

Besides, after Colonel Arisone's murder by the Decapitated Mime's air force, no Moses Lander wanted peace.

Within five minutes' of the Parliament's opening, they had declared war on the Decapitated Mime and Jfo. Whether it could be stopped as quickly would be discovered soon.

I see . . . I suppose I shall have to destroy Moses Land. I never liked them anyway. I shall have to send half of my army of 226000 people. The other half will stay to protect me, and the military bases, and the large corporations . . . not the common people though. They don't deserve any protection. To battle!

The emperor of JFo looked at his inbox. hmm... junk, junk, ?? "Moses Land has declared war on you and your ally, the decapitated mime, blah, blah, blah, death of Colonol Arisone, blah blah blah" Well, well, well. At least it will be more fun than sitting around signing papers. I'll have to start drafting people to add to my standing army of 50,000. I'll also have to consult with the decapitated mime, gather intelligence, and whatever else it is you do in a war. hmm... I think i need an advisor. I'll have my staff find me the best general they have. Until then, i'll wait for moses land's next move.

This is The Decapitated Mime, not JFo. He had to use my computer, and I did not realize I was still loged in as him. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you.

We should think about strategy a bit while we wait for Moses Land's next move. Where is Moses Land anyway? What major bodies of water are in and around it? What are its major landmarks? Who are its neighbors? What natural and artificial defences are in an around it? I need to know everything, and I never directed any funding to map-making.

By the way, if you have any supluses, send them to me so I can draft whoever makes them here. Every peasant I can use for cannon fodder counts!

Chief of Staff's Office, Moses’ Dominion

General James Stewert looked at his map of Jfo and Decapitated Mime. Moses Land was separated by the Sea of Tomis from the two enemy nations. A crossing wouldn't be difficult: The battleship MLS Conrova and the 3rd Destroyers were ready to assist.

The phone rang. "General Stewert, its the Prime Minister." Stewert's secretary told him. "Put him on."

Stewert next heard the loud, booming voice of Prime Minister Tio. "General. Nice to speak to you again, but no time for pleasantries. I need some questions answered." Tio was nothing if not to the point.

"What is the size of the enemies armies at this time General?"

"Well sir, in terms of numbers, Moses Land is at a huge disadvantage." Stewert told is commander of chiefs. "From what intelligence has heard of the two nations, when war comes all industry that is unessential to the war is dropped, and much of the population drafted. Of course, that’s unconfirmed due to some bad Intel."

"I see." The Prime Minister said. Stewert wondered if he could really see. Tio was a good man, but didn't seem to be suited to be the leader of a nation. Rumors said Tio's aides made most of his decisions for him.

"So General, status of our army in comparison?"

"Moses Land's army is well trained sir, and many of our officers and noncoms have seen action during the Civil War and that mess immediately afterwards."

"Would you recommend reinstituting the draft?"

"Yes sir. I doubt the public will mind much, as very few oppose the war. In fact, recruitment is booming at a level I haven't seen even during the Civil War."

"Very well. I'll put the bill before Parliament. Anything else?"

"We could use an ally or ten. We are bigger then either of them, but together they outnumber us. Our military I believe is superior, but that may cause them to simply resort to guerilla warfare."

"I'll talk to the foreign office. Lets hope no nation joins them first..."

The emperor of the Scandinvans demands to the recognition of the Imperial held lands in Moses Land that they are Imperial colonies that these lands are under Imperial jurisdiction and thus are sovereign territories of the Scandinvans. Within 100 years these territories shall hold a vote weather to remain part of the Glorious Empire of the Scandinvans or that they wish to return to Moses Land.

Moses Land rejects this demand. If you recall, the provinces were given to you under the agreement that they would remain part of Moses Land, not your colonies.

However, we are willing to negotiate an arrangement. We will lease you military bases near the provinces. You will be required to turn over control over all the provinces, but you will have full jurisdiction of the bases after we have hammered out some conditions.

There was a knock on the door to the office of JFo's emperor.

"Come in."

A man the emperor had never seen before walked in.

"Yes? Who are you?"

"Sir, I am General Zoos. You sent for me."

"So i did. Sit down. All right. We need troops, ships, planes, plans, etc, etc."

"I believe the first thing we should do is institute a draft, sir."

"Won't the people object?"

"Not if we motivate them correctly. If we give them the right incentive, they'll believe it their patriotic duty to fight for you."

"OK good. Do you know the number of troops that moses land has?"

"Not the precise number, but with the help of decapitated mime, we outnumber them. However, that could change if they recruit allies. We should probably try to get some allies of our own."

"How should we go about doing that?"

"We should probably try to convince them that we are in the right, and we could use their help."

"Ok. I'll start trying to recruit some other nations. I'll see if I can get back to you sometime tomorrow."

"Yes, sir."
