OOC: I will use unit names and designation numbers quite a bit so it’ll be a good idea to use the Order of Battle in my signature and the map to keep track of things. Please do not overkill by sending in millions of troops nd vehicles. If I have not been clear enough on any point, feel free to ask as this is my first attempt at starting an RP and will probably be filled with errors. This is just the introduction to introduce everyone to the topic, I have plenty of story written that will come out closer to the actual dates.

Rules:

1. Please use only what is currently in service or has been in service or is under testing. No superduper tanks or spaceships or junk like that. Custom designs of ships from DMG Military Industries will be allowed due to the fact that they are generally fairly realistic to current times.

2. No nuclear weapons, this is a straight conventional conflict.

3. Have fun. I sure will.

OOC: Here's a poem I wrote:

T’was the night before Halloween and all through peaceful city
Nothing was stirring, not even a kitty.
The jack-o-lanterns were lit on the porch
The insides of them were beginning to scorch

My children were nestled, all snug in bed,
While visions of world peace danced in their heads.
And mamma in her nightgown, and I in my cap
Had just settled down to long autumn nap.

When out in the living room there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our bed to see what was the matter.
No sooner had we jumped out of our warm bed
Six masked men dashed into the room and put guns to our heads.

The moon in the sky was clouded over,
They kicked us to the ground where we fell in a patch of clover
When what to my own wandering eyes should appear
Men beating my kids, whom I held quite dear

Laughter filled the chilly morning air
Did these men really not have a care?
She were yelling and screaming
My daughter they were double-teaming.

“Now bitch! Now skank! Now slut, show me that butt
On woman, on girl, come on whore, keep your mouth shut.
I watched as she was raped, they held me down.
I watched as they ripped off her tattered nightgown.

It was nearly dawn when they finally finished their fun
My family and I were staring down the barrel of a gun
With a pull of the trigger I fell to the ground
I lost focus, as my mind went blank, the doctor said, “He’ll never come around.”

1200 – October 31st 2005
It was dreary, cloudy fall day with the occasional sprinkling cool rain when it was realized that Sir Jesse Russell, Minister of Foreign affairs has not yet shown up for work. His day starts at 0900 but he’s usually in the office by 0700. The few times he has not been able to make it to work, notice was given, but this time, no one seems to know where he or is wife are. His wife also works for the government, but in the Department of Law and Order. When it was discovered that neither work-o-holic had shown up for work as of yet, and they couldn’t be reached by home phone, cell phone or pager, it was decided that someone should go check up on them.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The car drove up the driveway gravel driveway of their quiet farm house way out in the middle of nowhere, everything looked normal, the car was there, the doors were closed, nothing appeared to be disturbed, at least in the front. The men got out of their black sedan and slowly walked up to the front door and with a stiff knock, the door fell down. The hinges had been taken off and the lock picked. Inside the place was a disaster, furniture strewn about, books ripped apart on the floor, pocket change lying around, it was as though a tornado had hit. The men reached for their pistols, which were carried in holsters on their thighs. They began slowly walking through the house with no sign of the Russell family.

“We will remain free” One of then men muttered when he walked into the bathroom.

“What was that?” the other man asked.

“It says ‘we will remain free’ right here on the mirror.”

Right then and there both men knew with whom they were dealing. The Free Land of Plympton-Wyoming was notorious in the early days of the rebellions for kidnapping, torturing and murdering government officials.
They kept rummaging through the house and eventually made their way to the back door. What they saw made their jaws drop. They the 4 members of the Russell family in a pool of blood on the porch, the daughter completely naked, bullet holes everywhere and boot prints leading down the back steps into the field. One ran back to the car to call help, the other man went to check on them. Jesse was still breathing, as was his wife.

Within a matter of minutes, though it felt like hours, the afternoon chorus of song from the birds was interrupted as the sound of the beating rotors of helicopters filled the air, followed by the sound of sirens and dozens of vehicle speeding towards scene.

Reserve soldiers, acting temporarily as police officers, quickly secured the property as they released hounds in hope of tracking the gunmen down. Medical personnel were like maggots, swarming all over the Swiss cheese like bodies of Mr. And Mrs. Russell. The chief medic, pronounced the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ condition as extremely critical, he was still alive, but only just. Sir Jesse Russell was loaded into an army Bell 206 Medical Helicopter and rushed to the Copacabana Naval Medical Facility, a 20-minute flight north. Mrs. Russell was sent to Sarnia Memorial Hospital, also by airlift. Unfortunately, both of their children were pronounced dead at the scene, with the preliminary cause of death ruled as massive blood loss due to their bodies being riddled with round of various calibers and then doused in gasoline and set ablaze.

Chairman’s Address to the Nation

“Loyal and dedicated citizens of our Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, as I’m sure you’re all aware of by now, the life of our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Jesse Russell was attempted to be taken in a ruthless act of terror by gunmen from The Free Land of Plympton-Wyoming. It is with deep sadness that I announce the loss of our beloved minister, his wife, Larissa Russell and their two children, Jack and Jane Russell. I praise the efforts of the rescue teams who fought so valiantly to get the Russell family to the hospital, and I praise the many doctors and nurses for working endless hours to keep them alive. Let us have a national moment of silence, and have the flags lowered to half-mast for ten days, representing the ten years Sir Russell spent as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the issue of justice, we will seek it. There are some people out there who feel jealous of our glorious nation, who feel threatened by our peaceful nation and people who live to hate our admirable nation. For such atrocities, we shall defend ourselves. WE SHALL PROTECT OUR CITIZENS from such acts of cowardice in the future. It is one thing to attack from the front, man-to-man, at least that can be respected, but as for attacking a family, forcing them at gunpoint to act against their beliefs, is an act of cowardice and cannot be respected. It is our duty to protect ourselves and seek justice against those involved. Reserves will be mobilized as the hunt for these killers intensifies, any barrier in our way will be crossed, and anybody protecting these vicious criminals will face the full wrath of the law. WE WILL STOP AT NOTHING UNTIL JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED!”

The Aequatian Republic would like to convey its most sincere condolences to the nation of Saint Fedski for their terrible loss in such a tragic way. We also would also like to take this moment to declare our nation's support to the government of Saint Fedski for quelling such a violent and despicable rebellion which has no respect for human life and knows nothing of compassion. Aequatian forces would be willing to help in the defence of personal security and freedom to the loyal citizens of your nation.

From: Chairman Gary Girardi

The Holy Empire of Saint Fedski would like to thank The Federal Republic of Aequatio for their support. We will stop at nothing until the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski is once again a powerful and peaceful nation. If help is needed in rounding up this scum, we will not hesitate to ask our friends in Aequatio and if we are in a position to offer something in return (say maybe help conquering Darvainia) we will not hesitate to offer.

The man sat there in his chair, drumming his fingers on the desk of his office. He was far within the Amerathian land, watching the official announcement over the broadcast.

"Sad times when whole families are murdered."

The secretary that just came in held back the comment she was so dying to say about how he had ordered the conscriptions many times before. But for now, she just layed down a stack of papers on his desk and left.

The man drummed his fingers more before speaking, "Secretary", she hated that, she wished he would at sometime finally use her name respectfully. "Please bring me the communications units"

She almost snorted in disgust at him, "Yes Sir."
-----
And so here it was that the man was typing on the communications unit (you know it better as a type writer), quickly writing out a statement for this... He immedietly had it transfered out for deliverance to this nation in need.

The Government of Kahanistan condemns the murderous and barbaric terrorist acts against your official. We will deploy one battalion of Imperial Marines and two Republic Guards battalions, for a total of 1,500 troops, to hunt down and hang from the testicles these degenerate terrorist savages.

We wish we could provide more, but we are currently engaged in hostilities at home, and while peace is at hand a sudden deployment of large numbers of troops will weaken our defenses and embolden our enemies.

From: Lord Baldwin de Brut, Lord Constable, Kingdom of Listeneisse

The Royal Constabulary of the Kingdom of Listeneisse expresses its sorrows and regrets that your nation recently suffered from an act of assassination. Our condolences to the family and friends of Sir Jesse Russell, his wife Larissa, and their children Jack and Jane. We understand his wife was a subordinate in your department. Surely her presence will be missed.

The Kingdom of Listneisse would like to share any list of suspected persons you may have related to this terrorist organization so we can ensure they may be stopped if they try to cross to our country. If there are suspects that need to be detained already in our country, we can also work on extradition.

We would also like a dossier on the origin, motive, and organization of this group, including any criminal records or investigation files. We wish primarily to understand if it is a local or regional terrorist organization, or whether it has more international interests or support.

OOC: Who's going to RP the terrorists?
Saint Fedski
27-10-2005, 15:32
What's going to happen is, my military is going to launch a strike, much like israel did to start the six-day war, and dominate the enemy. And hopefully, some foreign nations will get involved to defend Plympton-Wyoming (the rogue nation who sponsored the terrorists). If all goes as planned (St. Fedski winning), The Holy Empire and North St. Clair will launch an attack on the Kingdom of Thorns (see map) and more nations will join (hopefully) and that will keep going until all seven nations of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski are reunited. Although I do have to point out that two of the nations will just surrender due to their limited populations and military but the other two, will fight to the death.

I hope that's how it goes. I currently have some more script to add to this story, so I will add it and it should clear up most questions.

I have it RP'd to where PW is almost eliminated, but some fanatical pockets will still remain until foreign nations can intervene. Or I suppose if no one intervenes on behalf of PW, I will have to RP the defeat of PW and begin the next war myself (which is probably most likely)

After the Chairman’s Address to the Nation

Chairman Girardi paused at the podium for a couple minutes with tears beading in his eyes after he finally finished his emotional speech. He was close with Sir Russell; they had grown up together, gone through school together, and even led a nation together, now it was just Chairman Girardi, his best friend gone, forever. Two of his bodyguards came up to him, and began to bring him to the backstage door to the awaiting helicopter; he was needed in his office immediately (something had gone wrong in Darvainia). As he turned to leave, his guards closed in directly behind him, in the line of fire. The shot was taken just a split second too late, any earlier and it would’ve hit the Chairman in the back of the head, but instead the guard was hit in the head. All hell broke loose as many hidden gunmen opened fire from the crowd at the politicians up on stage. Security forces fired back into the crowd. Bullets flew everywhere, no place was safe. The firefight stopped as suddenly as it has began. Sixteen innocent bystanders were shot and killed, another 20 or so were trampled to death in the stampede, and five members of the Chairman’s security detail were killed. Three gunmen were eventually captured nearby trying to start their getaway van. Under intense interrogation, it was revealed that the eight other attackers had been killed near the stage. According to the gunmen, they were hired mercenaries working for the government of Plympton-Wyoming.

0900 – November 4th 2005
Security Council Meeting

The twenty members of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski Security Council meet to decide what to do against these insurgents.

Chairman Girardi opens the meeting: "We are here to discuss what actions, if any should be taken against these people, due to the recent attempt on my life, I will stay out of the suggestions and listen to advice and then if I disagree with the path we have chosen, I may overrule it. Only senior officials will have the right to voice a balloted opinion. Before the ballots are created, junior officials may voice their opinions. Senior officials will then be given the oppourtunity to amend their opinions. Let the discussion begin."

Madame Robynne Hay: "Good idea Sir. I propose that we increase protection of senior officials, until we are sure that there will be no more attempts on anyone’s life. Secondly, we should immediately issue an alert to the military and have them prepare for an immediate attack against Plympton-Wyoming."

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andy Nubs: "Our international position is peace. If we were to go out and attack one of our neighbours, it would be a hypocritical action we would lose quite a bit of respect in the international scene. However, with that said, other nations could understand our need to protect ourselves by taking an offensive approach to defense. What happens in the international community all depends on how we justify our action, or inaction."

Sir Braden Bass: "Before we decide anything, we should launch a complete investigation into the incidents. It is our job, in order to maintain peace, to act appropriately by taking out only those responsible. I do not believe we should use these attacks as “justified reason” for attacking the Free Land of Plympton-Wyoming. That would be entirely dishonest and hypocritical due to our peaceful reputation."

Sir Harold Willens: "My position is the same as Sir Bass’. It is our job to promote peace internationally and if we cannot do it nationally, we will lose all respect we have gained internationally. It would be a breach of our constitution if we attacked another nation without a reason and the proper formalities. We should wait until the investigation has been conducted. If it turns out that it was just a small group trying to start a war, they should be our targets, if it turns out that Plympton-Wyoming is responsible, we should bring the issue before the international community."

Gen. Maximus Obliqus: "Either way, our military will be put on immediate alert, the reserves in a defensive role, the regulars ready for an attack. Preparations for an attack have begun and are currently in stride with our contingency plans. I must warn that before contributing our military to an action of such magnitude, could weaken our border defense with the much more aggressive Kingdom of Thorns. I believe a strike, not necessarily an attack, against Plympton-Wyoming is needed to prove we will not take such actions lightly. I propose that we wait a couple days for the preliminary results of the investigation and if all signs point towards Plympton-Wyoming as being responsible, a full out assault should be launched."

Adm. Ken Murphy: "I agree with my colleague here, however our Navy is currently over stretched with our forces being in Concremo, Darvainia and on their way back from Abu Dhabi. Before any action is taken, we should withdraw from one of the areas of operation and use the manpower from that, to protect our border."

Madam Fleur Summers: "A retaliatory strike should be launched against Plympton-Wyoming immediately whether they actually supported the attacks or not. By doing so, a warning will be sent out that we are not to be messed with by either terrorist organizations, or meddling countries."

Chairman Girardi: Does anyone have any more opinions to speak before we go to a vote?

“I do Sir.” The Deputy Chairman Louis Riel announces. “Why not compromise? We could alert the military to full readiness, while conducting a through investigation. If I recall correctly, one of our contingency plans calls for a small strike to be turned into a major assault. Therefore we could put everybody on alert, investigate and launch a small strike that can be turned into a full-blown assault pending the preliminary results of the investigation.”

Chairman Girardi: Well that sounds like a proposal. The votes will either be for or against that. A one-hour recess will be granted for us to collect our thoughts. If the vote is against, voting will begin on the previous four suggestions.

1015 – Voting Begins

Chairman Girardi: I hope everyone has had his or her questions answered. Voting will now begin. All in favour of the compromise say ‘aye’.

“Aye”

“All against say ‘nah’.”

“Nah”

“Well then, we have our answer. Sixteen votes for, three votes against. My vote finds this decision entirely acceptable,” Chairman Girardi observed, “therefore let the preparations begin!”

1700 – November 9th 2005
Office of Chairman Girardi, Security Council is present

“Ladies and gentlemen, the preliminary results of the investigation are in,” Sir Bass exclaims joyfully. “It has been found that Plympton-Wyoming has indeed sponsored these attacks. We must now prepare for war as quickly as possible. General, when can we attack?”

“Tomorrow at dawn. If you will please excuse us, the Admiral and I have to make some arrangements.”

“May I remind everyone that there is to be no contact with the media? We rely on the element of surprise if we want to win this war as quickly as possible. God forbid that they should get wind of this before our attack starts, we could be in for a long war, brutal fight.” Chairman Girardi added before the session ended.

0100 – November 10th 2005
Office of Gen. Obliqus

“I’ve got the feeling this is going to turn sour, quite sour.” Gen. Obliqus muttered to himself.

“What was that Max?” Adm. Murphy asked.

“We’ll need complete thunderclap surprise if we want to overwhelm them. They have a greater population, and a lot more fighting soldiers than we have. Although they aren’t as well equipped or as well trained, they have a lot of experience fighting as mercenaries overseas. They’re main base is around the city Wyoming. Attack planes will need to ruin their air force before it can get off the ground, then we’ll need to seize vital areas around Wyoming.”

“Why don’t we launch two pronged attack? We can use the A-10 Thunderbolts to soften up the targets, then we can use our crack mountain units to attack in the west, and use our armour and light units to sweep around from the east. I know it isn’t what our contingency plan states, but I believe it’s simpler and will be more flexible.”

“Ok, now lets say we launched an airborne assault on Wyoming International Airport as well, to outflank them I bet they wouldn’t expect an entire troop to land right there under their noses. Another idea would be to get North St. Clair involved in this as soon as possible as they have a relatively strong military for their size and they’re constantly at war with P-W. Someone should get there right away" Gen. Obliqus stated drearily . “This might actually work out.”

“Great idea, I’ll fly right to St. Clair and meet with their Department of Defence.” Adm. Murphy told his colleague as he walked briskly through the door towards his office.

Lt. Colonel Linda Morris, one of the Kahanistan Republic Guard battalion commanders, stepped out of the back of her military hauling truck. She was in the northern part of Plympton-Wyoming, with no clue about the locations of the terrorists.

She radioed the intelligence ministry in St. Fedski.

"St. Fedski Intelligence Ministry? This is Colonel Morris, Kahanistan Republic Guard. We're in Plympton-Wyoming, do you have any locations of suspected terrorist bases?"

Colonel Morris,
All known terrorist training camps in the area are in the Kingdom of Thornz, near the military city of Al-Bushra. All attempts of attacking the camp have been met with fierce resistance from the large Thornian military. These particular terrorists were hired mercenaries from another nation which has yet to be determined.

"You may proceed at your own risk. They have heavy defences protecting their main military base. The Intelligence Bureau claims that they have a massive underground complex including hangers, warehouses and ballistic missiles. The air defence reportedly consists of at least 15 THAAD TMD long range/high altitude anti-aircraft missile batteries. That is all the information our agent was able to get before he was discovered and publicly tortured. His whereabouts are currently unknown. The Armed Forces of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski (Republic of New McFarland and Republic of North St. Clair) engage in only limited border clashes with the Kingdom of Thorns. Back in the big breakup, most of the Armed Forces supported that cause and are therefore well trained, technologically advanced, and numerically superior to the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. Your attack would throw them for a loop. You best chance at success will be to fly directly from Sombra to Al Bushra as quickly as possible and at the lowest altitude possible. Good Luck"

"This is main entrance for VIPs. Avoids the hassle of security screens."

As the jeeps pull up and stop at the back door, Raymond Franks (Chief of the Intelligence Bureau), Madam Robynne Hay (Minister of Defence), Air Marshall Tom Hoffman, and Admiral Ken Murphy (Deputy Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces) are waiting to greet their guests.

"Gentlemen, I brought you here to discuss the raid on Al Bushra. It is a military city, meaning that it is an extremely large military installation. There are no civillians within 50 kilometers of it. It is defended by at least fifteen THAAD TMD long range/high altitude anti-aircraft missile batteries and dozens, if not hundreds of mobile batteries as well. We were able to get a safer way, still heavily guarded, but not as heavy as others, to the base. Once you load up into your planes, you will fly to Sarnia which will be checkpoint Alpha, then change course to Sombra, checkpoint Kappa, then you will dive to the lowest possible altitude, and fly directly to Al Bushra. They have three large hangers there. Those are your targets. Any questions?"

Lieutenant Giorgos shook his head. "No, I get everything. But if we had known there were no civilians for 50 kilometers, we would have brought nerve gas. But we think the MiG's' conventional weapons will suffice."

He saluted the generals and admiral and left. Outside he waited for a ride back to the air station and his MiG to commence the attack.

"Lieutenant, before you go, there is something you must know. You aircraft have been towed to a concealed airstrip. The Kindom of Thorns has eyes and ears here. This should make it look like they went to the shop for work." Madam Hay informed him before he got out the door.

Two Bell 206 Helicopters with civillian markings were awaiting the men at the back door.

"Gentlemen, these helicopters will take you to your aircraft. The maps you need will be handed to you on the helicopters. Oh yes, and before I forget, if you are shot down, and captured, take these. They will prevent you from talking. We will not acknowledge your presence in the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, nor will we launch a rescue assault to retrieve you. You are entirely on your own. Good luck and god speed." Madam Hay extended her hand to Lieutenant Giorgos.

As the helicopters begin to take off, gunfire and explosions are heard in the distance. Everybody looks out to the left just in time to see four armoured personnel carriers and two Leopard 2 tanks streaking across base firing at something in the distance. The government officials from the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski wave good-bye from the ground below. In just a matter of minutes, the helicopters will be at the secret location.

They landed in the secret location a couple minutes later.

"Here we are guys." Admiral Murphy said before they landed.

"And to answer your question, those tablets will kill you. We cannot afford to have you caught. You know too much." He shouted from one of the helicopters as they took to the sky.

The pilots arrived at the secret spot and then boarded their MiG's. From the base, they headed for Sarnia as directed, then changed course for Sombra. After they arrived over Sombra, they nosedived to a harrowing 150 meters above ground, coming dangerously close to clipping the trees and water.

At the time they arrived near Ackadan, they remembered the long-range anti-air missile batteries. Lieutenant Giorgos opened a channel to his pilots.

"Vulture One to all units. We are approaching the target. You have six air-to-air missiles each, make them count." The missiles fired on Al Bushra, detecting the missile batteries with the MiGs' radar. Thirty missiles fired on fifteen batteries should leave only the mobile batteries. They hoped.

"Now, bomb the hangars." The MiG's soared to 300 meters at full speed over the hangars. One MiG was shot in the left wing and crash-landed about four kilometers from the city. Another crashed right into the center hangar, taking it out along with the MiG. Another managed to drop its bomb on another hangar, but was immediately shot down.

Lt. Giorgos hailed the sergeant piloting the only surviving MiG-29. "We've only got one hangar left. Should we leave and get help or try to knock it down? If we fail, St. Fedski won't know. If we succeed, we'll be heroes."

"Lieutenant, maybe we should hail Kahanistan Command. Give them the intel we learned, maybe they'll bring in gas or even a nuke for this."

"Decided. Break and retreat." The last MiG-29 was shot in the right wing and the pilot ejected. He landed six or seven kilometers north of Al Bushra. Giorgos' MiG-31 retreated from battle, heading for Plymton-Wyoming. He knew that about 1,500 troops of Kahanistan were still there, looking to engage the troops there. He hailed Kahanistan Command.

"Command, this is Giorgos. Al Bushra is more fortified than we thought, but there are no civilians. Four MiG-29's are down, seems we hit most if not all of the long-range anti-air and two of the three hangars. We need reinforcements, another MiG squadron or even a whole wing for this."

"Great job Lieutenant!!" Admiral Murphy shouted with excitement over the radio. "The mission was 90% successful. A complete report will be wired to where ever you land. A C-12 Huron will fly you back to Copacabana where you will be debriefed. Your MiG will be transported via ship to Copacabana."

The remaining MiG limped back to the Republic of New McFarland, landing at the Sombra Municipal Airport.

During the attack, an AWAC from the Republic North St. Clair was flying nearby monitoring the action on the ground and relaying the information to Copacabana Airbase.

A report was faxed to the Sombra Municipal Airport for Lt. Giorgos:
Mission 90% Success. Two hangers destroyed. One hanger apparently damaged. Ten static SAM sites hit. Remaning details classified. No further attacks necessary.

Giorgos radioed Colonel Morris, the battalion commander of the Kahanistanian Republic Guards, who was still in Plymton-Wyoming. She said that she would try to rescue the two downed pilots who landed far from Al Bushra and probably weren't captured... yet. Of the other two, one had crashed right into a hangar and the other was shot down right over the city. They had not ejected and were certainly dead. The others had been trained to pose as civilians. They weren't going to take the cyanide pills unless capture was inevitable, and then they would take them. She cautioned that it might be five to seven days before she could figure a way into the kingdom, though...

Giorgos and his MiG landed near Sombra. He figured landing in Plymton-Wyoming might not be such a good idea even if there were 1,500 friendly troops camped there.

He radioed Admiral Murphy and requested pickup and his MiG to be transported. He was not in a good mood. His first command and two of his pilots were dead and two probably doomed...

The plane was waiting with its engines already running as Giorgos landed in Sombra.

A Sergeant of the Airport Security drove over to the parked MiG with 3 members of the security detail.

"Sir. Get in the jeep." The Sgt. ordered Lt. Giorgos. "Get in the bloody jeep now."

Lt. Giorgos seemed to be taking his sweet time.

"Go get his ass." The Sgt. ordered to his men as they jumped out of the jeep, and forcefully threw Giorgos into the vehicle.

The jeep sped off to the awaiting aircraft. Four military officers were waiting at the bottom of the ladder for them to arrive. The jeep arrived but didn't even stop as Giorgos was literally man handled out of the jeep and into the C-12 Huron.

"What the hell is going on?" Giorgos demanded angrily.

"We are under orders to get you back as quickly as possible. You are needed right away in Sarnia, the capital.

In the Huron...

Giorgos was furious. His first command had turned into a suicide mission and he was hauled into a plane, practically kidnapped. He put the cyanide pill into his mouth, but was not going to swallow it until he knew what was going on. They might be enemies, for all he knew. On the other hand, they might be allies. He decided he needed to know more first. He asked one of the soldiers on the plane what was going on and why the show of force.

"OK, what's with the grabbing? I thought we were allies."

"Your mission was classfied. We cannot have you seen by our enemies. We are sorry but it had to be done quickly and well, you were taking your time."

A little while later the plane lands at the secret strip in near Copacabana which seems to have turned into a small armed camp. Armed guards seemed to be everywhere but there were some familiar faces waiting near a tent.

"Welcome back Lieutenant." Admiral Murphy said as he turned around and walked into the tent. "As you know, your mission was a success. But what you don't know is that one of your men was captured and the other is still on the run. We are arranging a small force of our Elite Guards to go in and extract him. His location is currently just outside of the 50km military zone surrounding Al Bushra. We believe that they are mobilising multiple battalions to search for him. As per your comment back in the briefing room about nerve gas, that would be completely against our policies and rules of engagement and we would not have allowed your planes to use our airspace had they been armed with such weaponry, therefore the reason we did not tell you about the 50km radius of Al Bushra."

A vehicle is heard to be speeding in the compound and stops just outside the tent. Within a matter of seconds, a pleased Mr. Mercer walks in.

OOC: Mr. Mercer is pleased for a couple reasons: he is a highly regarded ambassador and therefore privvy to much more information than most ambassadors (he knows how much this strike actually meant. It may not seem like much to Giorgos, but it was actually very important and Mercer knows this). The mission was a success. and there is a rescue mission for the uncaptured pilot.

He calmed down somewhat. "As for my guy who was captured, did he swallow his pill? I ordered him to do it only if capture were inevitable. We're not suicide bombers."

"And... is there another mission for me?"

"To be honest Giorgos, I have no clue at the moment if he swallowed his pill or not. That intel should be coming in shortly I'd assume. You will be notified immediately upon our reception of said information. Secondly, we do have a mission for you. As you are familiar with the area, you will lead a future, large scale attack on it by Fedskian forces if you wish. Also as you know we are preparing a rescue mission for you sole remaining pilot, you may choose to tag along with that although on the scale of things, your rank of Lieutenant woud mean nothing."

City of St. Clair

“Everybody, I called you here so early to let you know the call has come. The Republic of New McFarland is attempting to reunite the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. Plympton-Wyoming is being attacked and Chairman Girardi has asked if we can spare the troops to launch an assault on the town of Corunna. We have been preparing for this day since the conference way back in January and I’m sure we’ll agree to send our troops to battle, but protocol demands a meeting and here’s the meeting. I, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau motion to open formal hostilities against the Free Land of Plympton-Wyoming in hopes of once again returning the Holy Empire Of Saint Fedski to glory.”

“I second the motion.” Paul Martin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, coolly states.

“All in favour?” The Prime Minister asks in a rather impatient way.

Everyone in the room raises their hands, except for one person.

“All opposed?” Trudeau asks, following formalities.

Hugo Chavez, Minister of Public Relations and a prominent personality of the large minority Calcs, raises his hand. “Sir I as a Calc and a responsible member of the government cannot approve of this matter. As you are all aware Plympton-Wyoming is predominantly Calc, and back before the disintegration, the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski was very oppressive towards our people. It is my opinion, and that of the 10 million other Calcs in North St. Clair, that we oppose any further attempts at reunifying the Holy Empire.”

“Very well Hugo, your disapproval has once again been put on record and as per the precedent, you are relieved of your duties as a Minister and will be forced to push paper for the duration…”

“Seeing as time is quite crucial to the outcome of this conflict,” Art Eggleton, Minister of Defence interrupted, “I must suggest that we stop bickering amongst ourselves before it starts and concentrate on the matter at hand. I met with Admiral Ken Murphy, who is the Deputy Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, he proposed that we launch a quick, penetrating strike into the heart of Plympton-Wyoming his suggestion was Corunna. Once we control Corunna, Wyoming will be completely surrounded and cut off from the other three-quarters of the country.”

“I concur with Art, he has never led us down the wrong path and I know will never intentionally do that. We must act now if we want in, if not it may be too late and all hell could break loose in the area yet again.” Joe Clark, the Deputy Prime Minister, forcefully agreed.

“There you have Gentlemen, let’s get this show on the road. Art, get everybody set up, we move at 7:30am. Joe, you get in contact with Sarnia, tell them we’re on board and have them fax a plan to Art. Everybody else, lets assume our duties. This meeting is adjourned.” A loud thud rang through the meeting hall as Trudeau slammed the gavel down.

She withdrew a small silver insignia bar from her pocket. "You will become a First Lieutenant. It's the least I could do." She pinned the insignia on Giorgos' collar. "Keep your wits about you. As your infantry are probably tired from their long journey, they will be given some time to rest and gather their wits before they are comitted to battle. However, if you desire some troops in the initial combat, two brigades can be attatched to I Corps and used to do a limited attack in the middle sector of the front. However, Plympton-Wyoming has a large number of forces concentrated in that sector and that's why Fedskian forces are bypassing it in the initial assault.

Parker had been in combat long enough that when she heard the terms, "imminent peril" she didn't waste any time double-timing it to the northeast. The Republic Guard colonels were less experienced. They didn't start moving until Parker bellowed at them, "Un-ass from here on the double! There's hostiles coming in, thousands of them! Make for the border ASAP!"

The Republic Guards didn't understand exactly what she meant. They fled in terror. This was supposed to be a search mission, not a battle royale. They had neither the weapons nor the desire for an intense battle. They crowded into their trucks and sped off. The few left behind ran on foot as fast as their legs could carry them, and when they tired, they hid.

It was 0600; the sun was barely rising above the horizon in the capital, Wyoming, when a noise so loud it could’ve woken the dead was heard. It was the sound of jet engines and helicopter rotors flying low over the city on their way to attack.
As the thunder from the aircraft rolled over the frontline, Major General Jaime Brideau of I Corps blew her whistle signaling her soldiers to begin the assault. The crack mountain soldiers in Colonel Sam Carr’s Troop 1 started advancing through the mountain pass on foot, towards the enemy positions, supported by 40 HMMWVs armed with 12.7mm machine guns and 20 Upgraded Centurion main battle tanks. No sooner had a sergeant radioed the lieutenant that they had crossed the border, he was shot right between the eyes by a sniper. All hell broke loose; mortars exploded, rifles fired, grenades blew up, cannons boomed, people shouted and the wounded screamed and moaned.

“INCOMING”

“GET DOWN! GET DOWN!”

“To the right, fire over there”

“HIT THE DIRT!”

The leading company had run smack into an enemy ambush site. Pre-ranged mortars and artillery rained down all around the position, effectively cutting them off from the rest of the troop. A well-planned crossfire was keeping them pinned down in the rocky outcrop, not to mention cutting them to pieces.

“Corporal, you alright?” Major Harris shouted to the soldier lying in the culvert with him.

“Yes sir.” The corporal questioned.

“I need you to get out of here and deliver a message to B Company. Tell them we are pinned down, taking heavy casualties, we have no radio and need relief immediately. Got that soldier?”

“YES SIR!” The corporal shouted with enthusiasm as he sprinted off. No later had he left then a shell landed in the small culvert where the two had taken refuge. He turned back and all that remained of Major Harris was half of the head and it was still in its helmet. The corporal spun back around on his heels and ran off in the direction of the troop headquarters.

Interior Assault
The ten A-10 Thunderbolts from Eagle Squadron of the First Tactical Army Air Force that had swarmed in from the north-east at ground level quickly pounced on the nearby army base, reducing most of the unsheltered trucks to burning wrecks within a matter of minutes. Then swooping in for another run, the Thunderbolts exploiting their enemy’s surprise quickly decimated all of the known AA gun positions before a single shot was fired in retaliation.
Another ten A-10’s (Hawk Squadron) swarmed to the Plympton-Wyoming International Airport, home of most of the Plympton-Wyoming Air Corps, like locusts on a crop, and shot up all thirty-two Mirage F1 fighters before any even got airborne. Circling overhead, taking out targets of opportunity, the A-10’s provided cover for a formation of four C-130 Hercules aircraft that were flying into sight from the north-west, heading south towards the airport. Just as planned, the Hercules aircraft, each carrying a company of Troop 12, began to land on the long runway. One plane taxied to the left to a large anger, another taxied right to the control tower and administration buildings and the final two kept taxiing towards the terminal. At precisely the same time, the doors and gates of the four planes opened and 480 soldiers simultaneously sprung from their seats and stormed the buildings.

“Let’s go! First squad up the stairs, second squad go over there, third squad hold this position. We move on my order,” Someone was heard shouting during a lull in the hanger melee.

The sound of small arms fire filled the crisp morning air as everyone began to realize that clearing the soldiers of Plympton-Wyoming from the airfield would not be as easy as expected and definitely not the anticipated push over.

With a massive explosion, a fuel depot behind the hanger burst into flames triggering smaller explosions in nearby vehicles and arm caches. A column of armoured vehicles and mechanized infantry was spotted heading towards the airport, likely ordered to secure it before it was attacked. The A-10’s pounced, taking out three M-60 tanks and four or five M113A1 armoured personnel carriers on the first pass. Circling around for a second pass, the Thunderbolts were treated to an unwelcome surprise: a thick smoke screen and a hail of rocket fire. Suffering the first combat loss of an aircraft in nearly a decade came as hard blow to the soldiers watching the attack from the now secure airport, two Thunderbolts were hit by the rockets as they made their pass over the smoke screen; one pilot managed to eject, only to be shot while dangling from his parachute. The remaining eight Thunderbolts pressed home their attack at the now revealed armoured column, knocking out four more M-60s and two M113A1 APC’s before they once again disappeared into a smoke screen. This time however, the Thunderbolts waited until the vehicles reemerged before making another pass, taking out two or three M-60s and five M113A1s. The remaining vehicles turned around, scattered and withdrew in face of fierce harassment from the A-10s.

0630 – November 10th 2005 – East Flank

The thunder of the guns echoed across the plains and across the border into Plympton-Wyoming as the batteries of the Royal Guns artillery brigade fired their first volley. The plan called for a rolling barrage leading up to the initial defence positions of the PWY forces. Following the barrage would be the mechanized infantry of Brigadier Harley Davidson’s 5th Brigade, the 6th Brigade under Brigadier Jason Hout, and the entire 2nd Armoured Brigade. Six A-10 Thunderbolts in three flights of two aircraft each, would provide close air support as needed.

“Our goal is to split off into two prongs, a light attack force is to attack directly to Corunna, while a heavy force is to penetrate all the way to Petrolia. The Corunna force will be numerically superior to the Petrolia force, but will be meant for speed and mobility.” Brig. Davidson explained to his subordinates (including Hout). “I have requested as many C-130 Hercules aircraft as possible. They will provide transport to the paratroopers Lt. Col. Tom Tompson’s brigade who will drop near Corunna and seize a small area before the enemy has a chance to fortify it. Hout, are you alright with that?”

“Yes I am. Although I would like to know how long it will take for the “Corunna force” to reach those troops.”

“I do not know as of yet, I would suggest preparing for two days, but it will more likely be a matter of hours.”

The two brigades quickly advanced deep into enemy territory, occupying many small villages with very few casualties. By 1200, the forces were ready to split. Hout took his brigade and Lt. Col. Wang Chung’s troop west towards Corunna while Davidson took his remaining troops towards Petrolia.

0730 – North St. Clair Sector – Border between NSC and PW

The growls of tanks, the stomping of feet, and the cracks of small arms firing filled the early morning air as the Armed Forces of North St. Clair came to life. Overhead the flights of No. 6 Group’s GR1 Tornados, B-1B Lancers and A-4 Skyhawks covered the dull gray sky. The first assault of the recently modernized armed forces had begun, only time would tell if it was worth the price.

North St. Clair’s 4th Armoured Infantry Brigade and 1st Armoured Regiment led the assault to Corunna. They broke through the greatly under strength Plymptonian border stations. They gobbled up village after village on the mad dash straight towards Corunna. The first operational deployment of paratroopers in the history of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski took place as ten C-130 Hercules aircraft carried nine-hundred soldiers of the 8th Airborne Infantry Brigade to the Corunna area, dropping them in the surrounding fields while GR1 Tornados dove in an out like swallows, picking apart the Plymptonian ZPU-4 Anti-Aircraft guns. Unfortunately for the Northerners, the SAM sites were well hidden and took a toll on the attackers: eight Tornados were hit and one fully loaded Hercules was shot down, not pilots or soldiers escaped.

0900 – North St. Clair Sector – Halfway to Corunna

Thus far, resistance had been relatively minimal, but now the advance units of the 1st Armoured Infantry brigade began to enter Corunna Defence Positions, manned by members of the elite Plymptonian Izrieg Infantry Division. These soldiers are well known to be fanatically dead-set against anything to do with the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski and will fight to the death. Supporting the Izrieg infantry are numerous M-60 Patton tanks, possibly hundreds and pretty close to two hundred pieces of heavy artillery.

1100 – North St. Clair Sector – Corunna city limits

The lead elements of the 4th Armoured Infantry Brigade have been bogged down for almost an hour under intense artillery fire. The defence complex they ran into was far more in-depth than anyone had anticipated. A belt of anti-tank mines kept armour from advancing with the infantry, large bunkers spewed machine gun fire every time they saw movement and snipers, well, they are taking their toll on officers and runners.

Parliament Buildings in North St. Clair

“My god! Look what you go us into Pierre. Our young men are being slaughtered out there. And where are our “allies”? NOWHERE!” Hugo Chavez shouted angrily across the room at Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. “We must pull our forces back to the border and save what we can of them if we are to have anything left to defend our border against an inevitable counter attack.”

“Now, now Hugo,” The Prime Minister calmly replied. “Our communications department has been monitoring all communication from this building. Every call that has been made has been tracked and listened to. Just after our early council meeting a call was made to Wyoming, from this building. Any idea who made it Hugo?”

“No Sir I don’t. What did they say?”

“Classified information about our plan was leaked to Plympton-Wyoming. That is why we seem to be getting slaughtered.”

“That person should be shot. Even I, totally against this unjust war of imperialism, wouldn’t give up our troops. Contrary to popular belief, I love this nation with all my heart, I just dislike some of the policies.” Hugo shouted at Pierre in anger and disbelief.

“It came from your office Hugo. From your personal phone. From your personal, private, secure line.” He replied with an irritated tone of impatience.

“SIR! You can’t be accusing me! It wasn’t me! I’d never do such a thing.” Hugo shouted nervously.

“I know you wouldn’t Hugo. And I know, and everyone knows it wasn’t you Hugo. Your secretary has been placed under arrest and has been charged with five counts of treason and two counts of aiding the enemy. She will no doubt face the death penalty.”

“THAT BITCH! I SHOULD’VE KNOWN! I never left my door unlocked, she’s been picking it and pouring through my notes hasn’t she? Damn that woman. I’ll kill her.”

“Don’t do anything stupid now, we have a slam dunk case against her. I have made an arrangement with the Justice Department: you will be the sole member of the firing squad. She was the one spreading malicious rumours, and making treasonous phone calls from your line. Ever since she joined your office, she has been closely watched by our security detail. Your name is now officially cleared. You are reinstated as Minister of Public Relations. We look forward to having you…”

Trudeau was interrupted by a buzz from his secretary.

“Sir, there is more news from the front.”

1200 – Corunna Area

A well-planned flank attack from the 2nd and 3rd Armoured Regiments and two brigades of the 30th Infantry Division slipped in between the Plymptonian forces and their command center. The airborne troops have secured the eastern outskirts of Corunna. While the eastern Corunna defences were being outflanked, the “Corunna Force” from the west was streaking towards the action, overtaking the artillery emplacements as they advanced.

Meanwhile, within the city, chaos broke out as the locals, the Plymptonian Army, and airborne troops from both North St. Clair and New McFarland became intermingled and lost. The chaos caused by the arrival of 1290 enemy infantry into supposedly secure rear area gave the Northern flank attack just enough time to slip into the midst of the Plymptonian lines undetected.

1400 – Corunna Area

The area surrounding Corunna was massive smorgasbord of troops, vehicles, civilians and anything else one could imagine. The arrival of the Corunna force just added to the chaos. Regular troops from New McFarland gradually linked up with the various friendly outposts in the city and by 1400, the city had fallen to North St. Clair and New McFarland. Although the city had fallen, the Izrieg infantry and tanks would continue to fight until mid November.

Karkel sighed and looked out his office window into the urban landscape beyond. He was watching all this conflict on a satellite floating above the earth. Although information was slow from the satellites, it was depicting clear chaos.

"Well, atleast they did something worthwhile, I suppose, like fertilizing the ground."

The secretary poked her head in the office, she was wondering if this fool needed her again. "What was that, Consular?" She spat out the word "Consular".

"Nothing."

We would be willing to help you fight. We just need to know some specifics about the situation. How many enemies are currently within your boarders? Where are they currently located? Do you have a map of your nation? We are comtemplating sending one of our SCS Marines over for peacekeeping operations. Do not worry, he is well protected from any attacks as his armor is thicker than most standard body armor and can wield 2 of our SMG's and/or Hanguns at once.

General,

To answer your questions, there are no longer enemies within the Republic of New McFarland (the heart of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski). However, three rogue nations, former members of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, are in conflict with the Republic of New McFarland. They three nations are: The Kingdom of Thorns, The Free Land of Plympton-Wyoming and The Confederacy of the Fish. We are currently launching an invasion of Plymton-Wyoming. Currently we are walking all over our enemies with help from North St. Clair, Kahanistan, Xirnium, Aequatio and Findan. We must unfortunately request you do not send assisstance unless it is in humanitarian aid and temporary security for the civilians of Plympton-Wyoming. We appreciate your offer though.

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN
Office of the President

From: President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if
To: Chairman Gary Girardi

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful,

From what information has made it back to Kahanistan, our allies have eradicated the terrorist savages from the Kingdom of Thorns and Plymton-Wyoming, who were murdering, raping, and torturing government officials and their families.

However, we grow concerned at the course this war is turning. If Plymton-Wyoming does not wish to be part of the Holy Empire, why must it be drawn in by force? Does it not deserve the same sovereignty and right to self-determination that St. Fedski and its allies enjoy?

The Supreme Soviet is currently debating on whether or not to continue aid. The prevailing view is that we will defend against attacks, but will likely not engage in any future offensives against Plymton-Wyoming or the Kingdom of Thorns. Our illustrious MiG pilot, First Lieutenant Mike Giorgos, however, will still be authorized to aid you in plotting targets, but the Kahanistanian troops there will most likely not be used in offensive combat in the future.

If they are to continue aiding you as they do now, I will need strong reasons to convince the Supreme Soviet not to reduce our level of commitment. You may send a delegate or come yourself to testify before the Supreme Soviet on this matter.

Signed,
President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if

The Meeting

Sirs, I stand before you today to justify the aggressive nature of the war in the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. Back in the day of the big breakup, the Holy Empire's forces were out fighting in a large scale war leaving the territory back home virtually undefended. Common belief back then was that there was no need for intelligence within our own nation because everything had been peaceful, no riots, protests or attempted revolutions. Waiting for just the right time to strike, a greedy group of military and police officers stagged a coup in the state of Plympton-Wyoming. They used terror tactics and executions to win control of the people. When we recalled our military to put down the coup, Plympton-Wyoming brought in highly mercenaries from other nations to defend againt our "invasion." Our light force was defeated and was forced to concede a large tract of land as it withdrew to position it could hold. The expected counter-attack materialized and was stalled at the present-day border. Since this day, border skirmishes and assassination attempts have been made by mercenaries acting on behalf of the Plympton-Wyoming dictatorship. They still rule through terror and our intelligence reports that the citizens would rather be back in the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski with the Republic of New McFarland. If any nation in the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski wishes to be independant, all they have to do is sign a petition, two-thirds majority wins them independance. An example of this is the Republic of North St. Clair. They voted for indepence and are now our closest allies. In conclusion, I hope you can see clearly and will continue to support the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. Thank you for your time."

Louis Riel walked back to his seat and sat down with a sigh.

Senator Crowley, the major opponent of Kahanistanian continued intervention, nodded. "I will withdraw my objections to intervening in Plymton-Wyoming. But what is the situation with the Kingdom of Thorns? Why are they the enemy?"

She looked at Vice-Chairman Riel expectantly.
Saint Fedski
31-10-2005, 10:54
"Senator, The Kingdom of Thorns followed in the footsteps of Plympton-Wyoming. The exact same thing happened, only the Kingdom of Thorns had found some supporters in the army, including some senior officers, which are now in control of the nation. Thorns and Plympton-Wyoming are reluctant allies in the quest to destroy the Republic of New McFarland and North St. Clair. The Kingdom of Thorns has an extremely large military, albeit not to well trained, but that is certainly becoming less true as time goes by. The frequesntly launch minor assaults again our city of Petropolis which they claim is their's."
Kahanistan
31-10-2005, 11:07
"I see, Vice Chairman. I will no longer ask the Supreme Soviet to reduce aid. But, you said, reluctant allies. Could Thorns and Plymton-Wyoming be turned against each other? I get the idea they don't get along."
Saint Fedski
01-11-2005, 07:32
"While the idea of turning them against each other is a good idea, they both have a common enemy they'd rather fight: The Holy Empire of Saint Fedski (Republic of New McFarland and Republic of North St. Clair). We have already tried to increase friction between the nations by using our Elite Guards in their uniforms and allowing them to be seen or discovered in the hope of distracting their attention from us, but that only works for a little while. The two states do not trade nor do they share anything. Their border is heavily guarded and border clashes are not uncommon. There has been one all-out war in their history, but attention shifted as the Confederacy of The Fish began to rebel against the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski using the same tactics the previous nations had and Thorns and Plympton-Wyoming rushed to help them, their war abruptly ended."
Kahanistan
01-11-2005, 07:58
"Very well. I think I can persuade the Supreme Soviet to withdraw its objections to further military engagements. We'll sort out the political ramifications of our actions later. Right now, the war must be finished as quickly as humanely possible, preferably in the favor of our allies."
Saint Fedski

The fight on the Western Flank had not gone very well for the Fedskian soldiers. They had only advanced one kilometer towards Wyoming before dusk. The Fedskian forces were plagued by equipment breakdowns, rock slides and a well planned fighting withdrawl. Casualties had been much more than expected as nearly one hundred soldiers will not be returning home. Well over three hundred had been wounded. Even in all this horrible news, there was still some good, a weakness had been found in the Plymptonian forces: the were virtually useless at night. They did not have the skill or training to traverse the incredibly tough mountain terrain while fighting a rear-guard action. The dawn striked by Fedskian aircraft had knocked out virtually all the supply lines the Plymptonian forces relied on. The effects of this were beginning to be seen as abandoned weapons and vehicles were being found in an ever increasing number.

Your contribution is most appreciated. Two hundred Elite Guards will act as guides and will provide terrain and cultural familiarization for your forces. Deployment will be in the city of Petropolis where I will personnally inspect your forces. Your initial duties will be field training where you will get used to the terrain and the vicious, hand to hand, guerilla fighting that is taking place. Once enough field training has been completed, the Aequatian 4th Infantry Division will form the nucleus of a heavy strike force that will be used to lead the charge into Wyoming.

For your own safety and security, deploy your Strike Fighter Group in at Naval Air Station Sombra (in Sombra). The airfield in Petropolis is always under artillery fire and is in poor repair. Also, insurgent groups like to infiltrate and cause havoc on the field by planting remote detonated and time detonated improvised explosive devices. Also, enemy snipers are a risk as they often lay low for days then take that one shot on a high ranking officer before they lay low again.

The first of the gray-painted fighters touched down on the tarmac, their insignia displayed on the wings and tails seemed almost as bold as any of the pilots flying the aircraft. C-17 Globemaster aircraft landed as well, carrying stores of munitions ranging from AGM-65 Mavericks and AGM-84 Harpoons to a plethora of laser- and satellite-guided bombs and cluster weapons.

Within a few days, the Aequatians had settled rather nicely and quietly into the Reserve Barracks, a flag was pinned on the wall above the main doorway. The makeshift motor pool had been assembled in a hanger designated for maintainence and cofiguration of the group's aircraft. Only a single wing of the first squadron was ready for action when Colonel Harrold Jacobs, an F-40 pilot and the wing commander, drove up in a Humvee and entered the hanger to see his aircraft being fitted with satellite-guided GBU-31 bombs which he would be using in the first sorties of the Aequatian aircraft, against structures which would be providing enemy forces with power, such as hydro and nuclear stations and important points within the power grids.

Re: 4th Infantry Division Deployment

With the airfield in Petropolis out of commission, we will have to deploy the division from the airbase in Sombra and mobilize south to Petropolis for their local combat orientation with your forces. As of this moment, the 4th Brigade is being deployed to take part in close air support and interdiction operations in support of Saint Fedskian troops.

Troops 1 and 2 of the 4th Infantry Brigade had achieved a major break through in the Plymptonian line as night fell. Casualties were exceedingly high, 142 killed, 200 wounded. The Brigadier Molly Spragg of the 4th Infantry Brigade decided to exploit the success of 1 and 2 Troop and commit 3 Troop to battle. The plan calls for Troops 1 and 2 to set up a blocking position as Troop 3 under the command of Lt. Col. Shawn Yuster leapfrogs through and enters Arkona.

"Hang on Colonel, I will put you through to intelligence." The voice on the other end responded.

"Col. Parker, this is Captain Darren Degroot, field commander of the Intelligence Bureau in the Republic of South St. Clair. The Tinville Air Base is a hefty installation as you can no doubt see from the recon photos that you have. We estimate atleast 2000 soldiers have been moved to the area, not counting the 200 permanent guards stationed there. As you can see, numerous modern aircraft call that base home. Taking it out would be a large relief. Be wary though, they may have up to another 1000 to 2000 personnel located below ground. The Intelligence Bureau will provide your soldiers with attack aircraft support, bomber support and a field detachment of the intelligence bureau for guidance. If you decide to attack, you will have one big advantage: Surprise. Plymptonians never expect and airborne assault directly on an airbase and therefore do not protect heavily incase of one. If you need anything, just ask and it's your's. Degroot out."

"aaaah I'm hit!"

"MEDIC! MEDIC! I NEED A MEDIC HERE! Hang on man! you're gonna make it, you're gonna make it! Here comes the medic! You're gonna be alright man! You'll be home with your wife and kids in no time! You'll be alright"

"Take it easy...you're gonna pull through! You can do it....take it easy!" The medic reached into is bag and pulled out all the bandages he could find to wrap the soldier's legs in.

"How is he doc?" The other man asked with a quiver in his voice. It was his first operational tour in the army and his first major engagement.

"Not very good, he's lost a lot of blood. Even if we get him back to a hospital, he'll have to be damn lucky."

"uuh it hurts...make it stop, make it stop" the soldier screamed

"Come on doc...give him some painkillers man, he won't make it. Don't let him die in pain man, come on."

"Alright" the medic agreed as he reached into his bag pulling out a small needle. He jabbed it into the soldiers arm. Seconds later, with a final clench of his fist, the soldier's head slumped. The medic said a few words and pulled a small sheet over his face. "May he rest in peace." The medic whispered as he got up.

"What did you do to him? That wasn't a painkiller! YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLED ONE OF YOUR OWN MEN!" The soldier punched the medic in the teeth.

"I was doing my job. We are trained to administer a lethal amount if a soldier is in pain and can't make it. He was dead anyways, he couldn't have made to a hospital alive. There was no time. So I did what I had to to end his pain. I'm sorry for your loss, but that's how....GET DOWN!"

Another volley of artillery began to land around them. The fighting near Warwick was the bloodiest fighting North St. Clair had ever seen. Casualties were climbing by the second, replacements were coming by the hour. If this pace kept up much longer, the army as they knew would cease to exist.

- Naval Air Station Sombra, Sombra, Saint Fedski

The varying aircraft of the 4th Brigade's aviation regiments sat on the runway alongside the F-40 Strike Fighters like eager little brothers waiting their turn to play. The largest difference between the two forces was the fact that many of the Army Aviation pilots weren't commissioned officers like those who flew the Air Force fighters.

Ground elements of the other three brigades began to arrive on the large airlift command's C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster aircraft, Incubus main battle tanks rolled off the aircraft and formed up for inspection and arming before heading south to take up positions around Petropolis.

Until ground forces of the 4th Infantry Division can be fully committed to the fight, 4th Brigade Aviation Assets will be made fully available to Saint Fedskian and allied forces in the Plympton-Wyoming Theatre of operations until they are required primarily by Aequatian forces. They may be called upon with the following callsigns by any allied ground forces:

Aequatian Aviation Assets Callsigns
AH-64D Longbow Apache Attack Helicopters - Javelin
AV-8B Harrier II Close Air Support Aircraft - Phalanx
OA-37 Dragonfly Close Air Support Aircraft - Arrow

As well, Air Force F-40 Black Mamba Fighters will begin strikes against targets around Petrolia against the Wyoming First Free Division positions in order to demoralize and eliminate their strength. Primary targets will include the immediate area around the Petrolia Airport such as the Weapons Cache and Military Police Headquarters will be struck by satellite-guided munitions while the Underground Missile Storage Bunkers will be hit with "Bunker Buster" Penetrators in addition to strikes against the runways with conventional munitions.

The strikes against the airport sector will be conducted simultaneously with strikes against possible targets of opportunity around the First Free Division's Headquarters sector. Targets include possible barracks, motor pools and fuel/ammunition storage facilities.

- Aequatian 4th Brigade Forward Operations Post, 75 Kilometres Northeast of St. Clair, within Plymton-Wyoming

The entire brigade had been moved south into the theatre of conflict in support of the Northern operations which the 4th Division would soon be joining and had occupied themselves a location to prepare for support missions for the North St. Clair Army of Saint Fedski. 1st battalion consisting of the Longbow helicopters had occupied an abandoned warehouse with a large parking lot to operate from while 2nd brigade's aircraft sat at an airstrip used by a local flying club, the little hobbists' airplanes were much different than the Dragonfly and Harrier II aircraft which carried a myriad of weaponry ranging from bombs and missiles to rockets and gun pods.

Lieutenant-Colonel John Harris, commander of the 1st battalion, received the request for air support by the Fedskians and quickly passed down the order to mobilize to his company and platoon commanders. Within minutes the pilots were running out to their helicopters as the ground crews finished with fueling the birds. The briefing was quick and merely outlined what had been stated by the ground forces, kill anything that's not ours, but flight plans had not been presented and would be provided via satellite from the command post.

"Roger that, North Saint Clair Command, Javelin is rolling in on your position, ETA twenty minutes, over."

The hulking aircraft flew low and fast as they flew towards Warwick, this would be the first blood for the Aequatians in this operation, but they would make it count.

OOC: Cool intel pics, how do you do them?

IC: Colonel Parker ordered her troops to head for the Tinville Air Force Base. Once they arrived, she ordered one platoon, under cover of darkness, to go to the back, armed with RPG-7 grenade launchers, an armored vehicle, and AK-74 rifles and fire on the base from a safe distance. One soldier placed a huge rock on the accelerator of the armored vehicle, packed it with explosives, and started it, hurtling right into the air base itself. Once the Plymton troops responded, hopefully thinking the platoon was the only attacking force, as the vehicle bomb looked more like a terrorist attack than an organized military operation, the diversion platoon was to retreat and the rest of the troops were to simply walk in the front gate, with much of the guard chasing the diversion platoon. They would have a much easier time in the base, simply seeking out planes and pounding AK-74 and M-4 rounds into the fuel tanks of the aircraft, only shooting enemy soldiers when they saw them rather than wasting time hunting them down. The destruction of the planes could neutralize the base more efficiently than pointless killing. Dead soldiers could be replaced with a minimum of training. Destroyed planes cost hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to repair.

The Plymptonian force launches a fierce, last ditch counter attack from the town of Warwick, hoping to breakout of their small pocket and reopen contact with the rest of the world. 26,000 troops supported by 200 pieces of artillery and nearly 2000 tanks ranging from M-48 Pattons to the latest version of the T-90. Even some captured Centurions are used.

The artillery begin beating down even harder on the dug in Northerners to the east of the town. Advance infantry units beginning to infiltrate the line using tunnels they had dug prior to the invasion. The Northerners were in desperate need of that support from Aequatio.

To the north of Warwick, an armoured spearhead of 200 T-90s and 6,000 infantry storm the positions fortified by the troops of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. Forunately for the Saint Fedskians, they occpied the high ground against the numerically superior enemy.

In the air force base at Tinville

Colonel Parker and Colonel Morris stood amid the burning planes and dead corpses of friendly and enemy soldiers. Colonel Jacobs ran up to them.

"Something doesn't seem right. We were told we'd get air support... and thousands of troops are just pouring out of the base, they must have realized the crashed APC was just a diversion..."

Parker swore. "Shit." She got on the radio. "Colonel Melissa Parker, Kahanistan Imperial Marines. We've hit the base and set a lot of planes afire, we have about 30% dead or wounded, thousands of troops are just pouring out of the base. What's the story on that air support? I'm going to make a tactical retreat unless you've got other ideas here, we're outnumbered badly, about 300 Marines and 600 - 700 Republic Guards and we estimate 1,500 - 2,500 enemies."

The A-10s stormed north, ripping up the column of tanks and armoured vehicles. In the four passes the aircraft flew, forty of the forty-five tanks, eighteen armoured personnel carries, and twenty-six trucks had been lost.

Two C-130 Hercules aircraft flew into sight. Thirty Intelligence Bureau agents and fifty members of the Elite Guard were on board. They planes flew in as low as allowed to give the onboard men a safe jump. They all jumped at once, landing directly around the Kahanistani secured section.

"Colonel Parker?" The lead agent asked. "Colonel Jay Ashgram of the Intelligence Bureau. Here to provide you with support. It is understood that you have numerous prisoners including some of high rank. We will immediately take custody of them. This area is covered in hidden tunnels. I have a map here of the tunnels leading out of the compound, your men are to secure the exits, don't let anyone out unless they're in handcuffs and shackles. Morris answered, "About 400 left, we've taken a beating, and that includes walking wounded." She showed Parker a hole in her left arm. She turned and went to the base entrance, armed with a captured PW weapon.

Parker frowned. "Shit, not enough troops for more than about 20 hours..." She turned to Ashgram. "Shouldn't we just retreat and let the A-10's bomb this place into a lake? Or is there a reason we're going in with troops? We've already destroyed most of their planes on the ground."

He decided to call Colonel Parker up on the radio. "Colonel, I understand you're in an engagement, but the missing airman killed himself upon capture, I just heard it from St. Fedski. First Lieutenant Giorgos is mad as hell about what's going on. But with the rescue mission scrubbed, we'll be sending his squadron out to help you. Replacement MiG-29's and pilots are already on the way, they should arrive in Sarnia in two hours."

"Squadron?" replied Parker. "We need the entire wing, get me Sklenova."

"Lt. Colonel Sklenova's attending a demonstration. I can get you her wing, though, but it'll be commanded by Major Ted Jolson, her second in command."

"Jolson's an idiot. Now you go up to that nuke-hating communist and you tell her that if any more of our people die out here while she's hobnobbing with all kinds of generals, I'll hand her over to the Plymtonians and they can take turns with her before I blow them all to hell and her, too."

"Calm down, I'm sure Jolson will do a fine job. Colonel Sklenova seems to trust him, or she wouldn't have made him her XO. What are you afraid of, that he'll bomb you instead of the Plymtonians? And I'll make sure to tell Colonel Sklenova how you feel about her."

Parker hung up. That idiot. Sklenova knows just how I feel, it's not like I haven't called her a commie numerous times to her face. But at least she's competent, doesn't feel she has something to prove, not so much a show off. Jolson will get himself killed someday, mark my words.

Frustrated, Parker destroyed the PW radio she was trying to break into with a WP grenade. She and the rest of her battalion joined the troops at the gate...
