Tettrea System, 0900 hours

Space was quiet, nothing disturbing the fabric of its deep rich blackness. The few planets, some ore rich and others fertile in land, their primitive civilizations continued on with their lives as the systems star shown light upon them, signaling the start of a new day. They plowed their fields, fed their children and animals, and woke up to the new dawn…a dawn that would change their worlds forever.

Out of hyperspace burst a small group of ships. Their arrow shaped frames angling toward the unsuspecting planets like the knifes’ of Death. There were five of them, along with several other smaller ships, fighters flew out in front of the formation of large ships, scouting the system.

“Captain, we have entered the Tettrean System. So far comm scan has detected no enemy vessels, nor opposing ships of any kind,” reported a Lieutenant, his data report coming up on his consul screen. A man, dressed in the tight fitting uniform of an Imperial Captain of Thrashia, stood by the port window looking out at the awaiting orbs of life. He turned to the Lieutenant standing at attention there a few steps away.

“Thank you Lieutenant. Have the scouts continue their patrols. Tell Captain Niles on the Eroberung that he is to begin a launch of probe droids throughout the system. I want it fully patrolled and watched at all times,” ordered the captain. The Lieutenant saluted and turned smartly away to follow his duties. The Captain turned back to the view. He looked at one of the largest, a beautiful blue-green orb, and that Intelligence had dubbed Tetra Prime. He heard the door of the bridge open and the increase in the sound of ‘busyness’ from the crew. Admiral Veirsan had come up from his personal chambers. The Captain turned and saluted smartly, his graying hair swaying as he turned.

“Admiral, we have entered the Tettrean System, thus far no signs of any enemy activity have been seen.,” he reported. Admiral Veirsan walked over next to the Captain and looked out. He nodded. “Very good Captain Trius, has the rest of the fleet arrived as well?” Veirsan asked.

“Yes sir, all five of the Star Destroyers and smaller vessels have arrived on schedule. I have taken the liberty to have the Eroberung begin launching probes to patrol of system, so as to keep anyone from surprising us,” said Trius. Veirsan nodded and put his hand behind his back, looking out into space.

“Good Trius, very good; has comm scan detected anything on the planets’ surfaces?” Veirsan asked, he turned his eyes to the green-blue orb.

“No Admiral, according to what the last scans showed, the level of civilization the locals are at is of any consequence to us. They are still at a stage of, I had to research the ships computers for this, ‘powdered guns’ and are not in too large numbers. We estimate under a few hundred million on Tettrean Prime, and perhaps a few million on the other two planets in-system,” said Trius. Veirsan nodded again.

“Very well captain. Bring us in orbit of Tettrean Prime and begin our operation, have the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye begin operations over Tettrean 1 and 2. The Emperor is expecting us to keep this expansion quick and under a tight schedule, I want no slip-ups. Understood Captain?” asked Veirsan, he had turned away from the view and space and was now looking strait at Trius.

“Understood sir, I will begin deploying the fleet now,” said Trius. The Admiral nodded and marched off the bridge. Trius stepped out of his attention stance and walked to the communications crew pit. “Lieutenant, begin deploying the fleet, and give me a transmission line to the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye. We will be starting operations.”

The man rubbed the dirt off his hands onto his tunic as he stood up from the earth. The sun beat down on his small field from above, few clouds were present in the air. He looked from his hill-top view into the small settlement to the west. He smiled when he noticed the small form walking down the trodden path from the town. It was his wife leading the milk cow over from the market. He imagined her soft skins again as he closed his eyes and leaned on his wooden plough shear. Suddenly his dream was disturbed. Disturbed by the sound of thunder and a loud roar.

He opened his eyes and before him saw red thunder pouring down upon the earth around the village, as if it was rain. His eyes widened with horror as he thought he heard the faint sound of a scream, and his wife disappear in a fountain of exploding earth. He ran. He ran down the hill, onto the path and towards his wife. He forgot the red lighting that was still raining down. He did not see it. All he saw was his wife’s gentle face.

The man reach a small crater in the path, in it his wife laid, her body burnt and mutilated. He fell to his knees, tears pouring down his cheeks as he reached down to her. He felt such pain.

Then he felt none. Suddenly he saw his wife standing before him again, as if the red rain had never come, she smiled and offered him her hand. The two walked into a great white light and disappeared.

Captain Trius flinched when he saw on the viewing monitor a Tettrean local hit directly by a laser. “That must have hurt,” he thought to himself. He turned to the other tactical screens and watched as his ship the Domitian and other smaller cruisers were laying down a barrage of laser fire from orbit around the planets of the system.

The other two planets, Tettrean I and II, were receiving the same treatment. “Well it will soon be time to land the troops,” he said aloud to himself. He walked over to the comms officer.

“Alert General Covel that he may begin his preparations for landing now, I will notify him when he is able to launch,” said Trius. “Yes sir,” replied the lieutenant.

The column of Imperial Army troopers marched past the burning town, its streets chared and crater filled from the orbital bombardment. Bodies of the dead lay around, some killed from the bombardment, others from when the clone army landed.

General Covel sat in the command chair of his personal AT-AT walker, his data scenes showing sceens from all sides. So far from his reports he was receiving, all clone army brigades had been successful in rooting out the last of the local primatives. "Pilot, take us to Grid-9, Sector 4," Covel ordered, he adjusted the holographic map that was hovering nearby, it showed the surrounding terrain for over 200kms. The pilot wordless followed the orders.

The behemouth walked forward, AT-STs taking flanking positions around it as it moved. Covel was beginning to lay back in his seat when a red button appeared on his control dash. He sighed and leaned forward, pressing it he turned to the hologram. The map disapeared and the small figure of Admiral Veirsan appeared.

"Report General Covel," he said simply without pretext. Covel shrugged the lack of respect off of his mind as he responded.

"We have successfully landed at all major settlements on the planet Admiral, thus far no resistance has been encountered. My men have swept the last remnants of them into camps where they shall stay for the time being, awaiting your orders or for a slave ship," said Covel. "By 1700 hours today we will be in total control of Tettrea Prime."

"Very good General, you may kill the left-overs as well," said Veirsan. Covel choked slightly then swallowed. "What do you mean-" he began, Veirsan cut him off.

"You are to exterminate the last surviving primitives, we have no use for them. Thats an order General. Once done, begin the construction of your permanent base and I will be sending down the engineers for the surveying of a new space port," said Veirsan, his voice was emotionless and because the image was so small Covel could not see the Admiral's facial features.

"Very well Admiral, I understand," said Covel.

"Good, Veirsan out."

Trius sat in his command chair on the bridge of the Domitian and looked at the small data screen that was projected just in front of him. He read the scrolling script with a hard attention, trying to concentrate on the latest reports from the probe patrols.

Thus far, no enemy or opposing intergalactic nation’s had sent ships into the Tettrean System, the small system, only comprising of a few planets and a single star, seemed to be over looked by most. But then, Trius thought, that’s why the Emperor chose it to annex.

Thrashian industry was in need of a new source for raw materials. This campaign would provide that. Already Trius’s geologists on the planets had reported large amounts of iron ore and other important ores were waiting beneath the surface of the planets. And, the establishment of another Imperial Fleet outpost was always in need. The system itself was only two or three beyond the Mais System where Fleet HQ was located.

Trius finished the last of the reports and closed the screen. He turned to the bridge and looked out into space, the planet Tettrea Prime was still beautiful, yet he could see small dark scars where the highest concentration of laser bombardment had hit. Pity, he thought.

Suddenly a hologram appeared of Captain Niles, the captain of the Eroberung, and presently in charge of watching the borders of the Tettrean System. “Captain Niles, please be so kind as to explain why you have sent an un-notified transmission?” asked Trius, his frown evident.

“Captain Trius sir, I am contacting you because one of my probe droids picked up an unknown frequency, one we have not seen before; or at least not one that my ship’s records hold. I have tried matching it with other comm frequencies that we have on memory from the Unified Sith data banks, but the computer is still searching,” said Niles.

“Very well Niles, you are excused from this, concerning this ‘transmission’ you intercepted. When and from where was it sent?” Trius asked.

“From outside Tettrean Space, to Tettrea Prime sir, my technicians tracked it that far, but we do not have the equipment to track it outside the system,” said Niles.

“Very well, observe the borderline carefully Captain, and keep me informed. Trius Out.”

Indeed, This System was indeed overlooked by most but since dcoumenting everything possible was now becoming a habit, a lone scout ship had entered the system uncloaked a few weeks prior to the Thrashian forces, The Pilot had documented most nations and peoples of the worlds in the system, as well as conducted numerous scans of the planets.

It had been deemed worthy of protection, and it would of had a small automated sensor station deployed within it to monitor its progress, but the coming of these ships had thrown that completely off course, and so the lone ship had been left to watch these worlds be turnt to the flame.

Of course, an open transmission would of revealed that there was a foreign presence within the system, and so, a extremely slow but albeit almost undetectable transmission had been made - it would be a few hours yet before anything happened, if it did at all.

Tettrea System, Primary Asteroid Belt, Tettrea Belt Community

The Thyrians were nervous. Their multifaceted eyes had been surveying the humans on the Inner Planets for generations, and all of a sudden they were gone. The Community did not concern itself with such species as humans frequently - they were unpredictable, prone to slaughtering their own kind with a horrific regularity and cruelty unthinkable within the Communities of Athyrn. Mother would never allow such things.

The watchers had pulled back their few ships when the Imperial force arrived - Thyrians are not the least excitable creatures in the galaxy. Currently, they were watching the ensuing butchery with trepidation, fearful of when the White Ships would come toward the Belt Community, which housed a full three Creches.

The larvae had already been sent to the Central Commune through one of their few inter-system ships - Thryian Creches do not move around much once ensconsed in a system, and the remaining Thyrians waited nervously, making themselves small in their thickly tunnelled asteroid homes, glad at least that life scanners did not detect them easily - their were creatures of the Lack, with a body temperature to match.

The wasplike creatures waited, watching, the three Matriarchs conferring with the Central Commune through the Oversoul, sending whatever small information had been gleaned of these invaders to their quiet system.

Ensign Mintra kept frowning at his computer consul and kept recalibrating his scanners. “This just doesn’t add up,” he said to himself. He lifted his cap for a moment and scratched his head for a moment. The observation crew Lieutenant stepped over behind him. “Is something wrong ensign?” asked the Lieutenant. Mintra looked up at his superior.

“Yes sir, I’ve been looking over the last probe reports, those from the last 48 hours. I keep finding anomalies in the signatures,” he said. He reached over to a side panel and pressed a series of buttons. “And I cross referenced it over the other reports we received once we reach in-system of Tettrea, I think that the probes picked up what could be the flash paths of ships.” The Lieutenant leaned forward and looked over the consul at the data scrolling down it.

“Have you made copies of this information?” he asked the ensign. “Yes sir, I’ve put all my findings into a report,” Mintra said.

“Very well, send that report to Captain Niles immediately,” said the Lieutenant.

“Yes sir,” said the ensign.

“After that continue focusing on these anomalies,” said the Lieutenant.

IC: A cloaked Tel'tac came rushing out of orbit around Tettrea Prime. The small craft swung around the system's sun, decloaked once it was one the other side, and approached the single Ha'tak that sat there hidden in the star's corona. The ship had been sent to check the system for any deposits of a certain needed mineral. Once the Tel'tac had docked, the Jaffa pilot came jogging out. He jogged all the way to the pel'tac. Once there he knelt before the Goa'uld in the command chair.

"My lady," he said, "alien forces have invaded the system. I did not have time to finish my scans for Naquadah before they arrived."

The Goa'uld's eyes flashed. She stood up and said, "What! Did you manage to gather any information on the alien craft?"

"Yes," replied the prone Jaffa, "the main ships are five of the widely used ships known as Star Destroyers. They began bombarding the planets rather quickly and I was not granted enough time to identify the specific class."

OOC: What class of Star Destroyers are they?

Outskirts Of The Tettrea System

It was relatively quiet out here, The Thrashians were of course further into the system, but it would not remain so. Many lightyears away, a taskforce outside of the Aistaesor Vaederdos prepared to fold to their designated co-ordinates.

Engaging their cloaking fields, they each in turn folded, 2 Battleships and A Carrier with a 4 Cruiser and approximately 6 Destroyer escort were being dispatched, along with 13 assorted frigates and corvettes, there attached.

Silently, and behind the shade of a outlying world, their fold drives burst open space as the fleet re-entered into realspace, and formed into a cohesive taskforce.

Of course, Cloak has its limits, and the Larger ships would be detected before long, but it would provide enough cover to come closer, Vice Admiral Teánti was on the bridge of the Spirit Of Aquith, The Larger of the 2 Battleships, surveying possible diplomatic avenues, and of course, Battle Tactics.

"Once we are close enough to be detected, decloak and reveal our presence, send this communique" Teánti said.

"Yes Sir" responded an officer.

A Little While Later..

The Fleet decloaked, where there had been dark black space, there was a blossoming of white and colour, Ships.

The following communication reached out through space.

"This is Taskforce 24 Of The Imperial Republic Of Arenumberg, or Aistaesor Vaederdos, these worlds are not yours and you have committed actions considered as war crimes by our courts, this system has been placed on the protection list, and as such you are punishable by these laws as described in Article Four of the Law Code.

You will release all prisoners and leave, we are willing to overlook a war crimes trial. Chaos will be purged. - Vice Admiral Teánti Out".

“Why the hell did our sensors not pick them up!” yelled an enraged Trius. The bridge of the Star Destroyer was highly active and busy techs moving about on several different assignments. The sensory Lieutenant flinched at the captain’s anger.

“I’m sorry sir, our probe droids did not detect them entering the system, and Comm Scan was unable to pick the up either,” the Lieutenant said. Trius slammed his fist into the arm of his command chair. Damn it, he thought, so much for ‘no surprises.’ Trius breathed deeply and looked at the updated tactical screen. Two large ships, battleships of some kind, along with what looked like a carrier, and a small assortment of smaller vessels were making holding patterns in space about 50km away from the far moon of Tettrean Prime. Trius looked at the location of the Star Destroyers. Both the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye were cruising into flanking positions on either side of the Domitian, Trius was slightly more assured.

Suddenly the comms officer looked up at Trius. “Sir, we are receiving a transmission from the intruders,” he said. “Patch it through,” said Trius. The officer leaned over to his consul and punched a series of buttons. Soon the message played out for Trius.

”This is Taskforce 24 Of The Imperial Republic Of Arenumberg, or Aistaesor Vaederdos, these worlds are not yours and you have committed actions considered as war crimes by our courts, this system has been placed on the protection list, and as such you are punishable by these laws as described in Article Four of the Law Code.

Trius almost laughed. “An unclaimed system, and we are told to get out after conquering it, how sad,” said Trius aloud to himself. “How sad indeed,” said a voice, close to Trius. Trius turned and was surprised that Admiral Veirsan was standing near him. The admiral was holding a mobile tactical display in his hands, and he had a comms headset on.

“Admiral, these intruders just appeared- ,” Trius started.

“Out of no-where Captain, I know.” Veirsan turned to the comms officer. “Give me a hailing signal to the command ship of that flotilla Lieutenant,” Veirsan said, then he turned his head. “ Helm, I want twenty-degree port yaw rotation – bring us flat to the invaders’ vector, superstructure pointing at them.” Veirsan clicked the comm headset on and said the same order to the captains of the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye.

“Sir I don’t understand, what is the use of doing that?” asked Trius. “You will see soon enough Trius, comms I want you to send an encrypted transmission to Captain Niles on the Eroberung. Tell him to make point-4 cruising speed and begin coming back here to Tettrean Prime from the outlying planets of the system, he is currently behind this invading task force.” The comms technicians started to it strait away. The lieutenant looked up at the Admiral.

“Sir, hailing line has been secured.”

“Good.” Veirsan looked out at the fleet, then recalibrated his head set to that of the comms consul. “Attention Vice Admiral Teánti of Taskforce 24 of Arenumberg; you have entered Thrashian space without previous hailing and have done so with a large force and threat of arms. I request that you exit this system or be placed under arrest for violating intergalactic borders. You are to power down any weaponry you have and leave. This is a first and final warning. Admiral Veirsan of the Imperial Navy of Thrashia, out.” He cut the link and the transmission.

While he had been speaking Trius had been looking at the tactical screen again. “Admiral sir, the Arrow is in close orbit around Tettrea Prime, behind the moon and on its dark side, according to what Comm Scan has been giving us on these invading ships, they have yet to detect it. Also our four Dreadnoughts and two Carrack-cruisers are making head-way here from Tettrea I. They will be here in 7 minutes,” said Trius.

Veirsan nodded. “Tie pilots to their ships, await my order to launch, all ships,” he ordered. He turned once again to his own tactical screen. His eyes were shifting back and forth across it as if he were reading a book or watching the flight of an insect. He stopped and looked up at Trius. “We will await their response, in the mean time Captain, send a live image feed via transmission to Fleet HQ in the Mais System, Grand Admiral Alabar will wish to see this; and inform me when we get a reply from the invaders,” he said calmly. Trius nodded and walked over to the comms crew pit.

Veirsan walked to the front viewing window of the Bridge and looked out at the opposing ships. “Your move,” he said to himself.

Due to a recent agreement with The Alterans, Ankhmet was documenting systems suitable for the construction of system-wide shipyards to produce battleships of The Ancients. This particular system had been overlooked during the first week of documentation, but a quick glance at the catalogues revealed an abundance of a mineral vital in the construction of Zero Point Modules. The Ankhmeti First Fleet, loaded with 'Puddle Jumpers' was dispatched, expecting to see no civilisation. They got a shock. The single warship on loan from the Alterans immediately began sending activation signals to the planet, hoping to activate a stargate on the world.
The commander quickly opened a channel, and hoped to god the locals were human.

"This is the Ankhmeti First Fleet, here to mine he system. We are here on behalf of the creators of mankind, our fathers those millions of years ago, The Ancients. If you will let us take the minerals we require for the creation of power systems, I'm sure they would be willing to talk to you with regards to their mission in our Galaxy. I'm sure you can detect the powerful warship they loaned us leading the fleet. You should be able to detect the powerful shielding, weapons and transportation technoloy aboard. Please don't make us use it. Submit and allow us onto the surface of your world."

Epion Space Station, Thrashian Fleet HQ

The Major semi-ran through the metal halls of the station, the data slate held firmly in his hand. A patrol of stormtroopers saluted as he passed them. He ran up to the lifts and pressed the use button, then waited impaitently as the elivator lift came up from a previous leverl. Finall the sliding doors opened and he entered.

He pressed a panel on the side of the wall, revealing a card slider and a small number pad. He took out and ID card and slid it through the slider. Then pressed a series of numbers. A small light flashed on red, then green. "Commander's Floor, access granted," said a metallic voice.

The lift started upwards, then gained even more speed, going through level after level, until finally it reached the top, its speed decreasing. The major fixed his uniform's and stepped out when the doors opened.

He walked into a large ante room. Large black tapestries bearing the silver insignia of the Fleet and Thrashia hung from either wall to the major's left and right. On the far end was another door, guarded on either side by two black armored stormtroopers.

The major marched up to the door. "Major Anderson to see Grand Admiral Alabar," he said aloud. One of the stormtroopers lifted his hand next to his helmet comm and spoke in low tones into it, the other leveled his blaster rifle at the Major. The other stormtrooper let his hand fall, then both snapped into a military salute. "You are expected Major Anderson," one said, his voice metallic sounding coming through the helmet. Anderson stepped up to the door and it slid open.

Inisde was a large command center, a huge 5 meter diameter holographic table was in the center of the large room. Behind this, up next to a large window overlooking the Planet Mais II, was a black metal desk, and bhind that sat a tall and powerful looking figure dressed in the black and gold of a Thrashian Grand Admiral. Grand Admiral Alabar.

"Major Anderson," his deep voice said. Anderson snapped into a parade ground salute and held it for 10 seconds, then he walked around the hologram table and up to Alabar's desk.

"I have an urgent report for you sir," said Anderson, he kept his eyes strait forward.

"Very well, report Major," said Alabar. The tall aging man leaned forward and leaned on his desk.

"We have recieved a highly encrypted message from Admiral Veirsan, who is currently watching over the annexation of the Tettrean system. According to the transmission, an enemy fleet has appeared declaring the system as theirs," said Anderson, he took the data slate and set it down before Alabar then took out a small hologram card and gave it to the Admiral.

Alabar read the data slate, then pressed the activation button on the card. After a moment a small image of Captain Trius, Veirsan's adjutant, appeared. The figure saluted smartly.

"Grand Admiral Alabar, I am sending you this transmission concerning the appearance of an enemy fleet. They have issued a statement, saying that the Tettrean system is theirs, and that we are to withdraw. Admiral Veirsan has taken up a defensive position and challenged their statement, as of yet no ships have exchanged fire, however the enemy outnumbers us in ships, yet the Admiral says he is confidant to be able to handle the fleet with his own force. However, we are in need of reinforcement. Our prode droids for some time have been detecting what could be a hidden fleet or other forces. Admiral Veirsan has asked that you mobilize the 1st Fleet for action, and send all currently available forces to the Tettrean System. Trius out."

The figure saluted once again, then the hologram died. Alabar leaned back, and read the data slate again. He leaned forward and pressed a button on his desk. "Comms, get me Captain Vars and Neidlezain," he said. After a moment voices came over the comm. "Captain Vars and Neidlezain reporting," said two voices.

"Good, you two are to at this moment taken off your patrol duties and are to go to the Tettrean System to reinforce Admiral Veirsan. He has an enemy fleet to handle, and it is both of your mission's to bring him much needed assistane. I want both of you in hyperspace within the hour," said Alabar.

"Yes sir," came a chorus of the two voices. Alabar turned back to Major Anderson. "You Major, may report to the central command on level 30-A and give the order to begin mobilizing the first fleet."

"Yes sir," said Anderson. He saluted then left the chamber. Alabar sat back in his chair and swivled it around so he could look out into space.

For nearly 3/4s of an hour he looked out in silence, then when he saw two Star Destroyers, the Mantra and Victorious, make the jump into hyperspace, he turned back to his desk and the morning reports to the Emperor.

[[Look on the bright side...at least the Thyrians are not exactly aggressive]]

Tettrea Belt Community

The watchers had seen the escalation. They had watched the start of the confrontation with concerned, and hopeful, eyes. Perhaps if the White Ships and the Other Newcomers went to war, whatever survived would be unwilling to face further conflict over the system. As it was, the Thyrians would have to invest significant resources in re-establishing their communications with the remainder of the Other Inhabitants.

The insectoid Thyrians had long held secret treaties with the Other Inhabitants, with the planetbound other race mining resources unavailable in the Belt in return for assistence in mining technique. Thyrians were good at mining. The existence of the wasplike red-and-blue creatures was not commonly known among the populations of the Other Inhabitants, their presence kept carefully secret by the respective governments.

And now the White Ships had killed the vast majority of the Other Inhabitants - a loss that the Community felt keenly, although they would freely be able to mine their elements if the White Ships left or were destroyed, many had become fond of the impulsive creatures who shared their system.

So, now the Thyrians watched and waited, preparing their few ships in case they needed to take flight. Meanwhile, they continued their tasks within the Community as they normally did, flying from Plenty to Plenty (asteroid) with their wings moving them through the Oversoul's influence.

Nova Boozia
24-10-2005, 19:54
"Admiral, sir, we are at 50 lightyears to target."

A long silence. Vice Admiral Gerspel had not reached his rank by rushing into things and getting lucky (unlike many of the younger flag officers), but even by his standards his reply took a long time coming. The young mid was about to repeat himself, when the old officer turned and spoke with the slow, unstoppable tones of a man who has considered his words from 7 angles and found no snags.

"Continue to system border then go to realspace. Coxswains and gun captains full alert. No aggression except in self defence, no transmissions until I say so.

The Boozian Grand Fleet had a very fluid selection of mission profiles. Admiral Gerspel's orders read "Use the elements of the fleet and army at your command plus any ships encountered out of command, captured, or recaptured in a manner beneficial to the federation, lynch mob [the Boozian government], and people within the confines of the Lagerian sector. Do not assault civilised planets. Ships and regiments at your disposal are non-expendable."

But to be civilised, you needed space travel, according to the Foriegn Administration section, so the fleet had set its eyes on the Tetreaen system.
Admiral Gerspel began to compose a warning/greeting message that would fit both of the main combatants.

"Sir, we have an anomalous heat signature to north-up-west, apparently organic in nature."
"Do a more thorough scan."
A moment passed.
"It's a swarm of them, gnawing on asteroids."

The admiral had expected this, having learned much about vacuum-capable hive beings in the Gluunonaden war, and had an uncharacteristically rapid response ready.

"Get me a good coxswain, an L-boat, and a mid who knows some biology, capture a straggler, and have the chief surgeon in the main dorsal hanger, compile me a report."

"Affirmed."

The Admiral stared out as, far below the peak of the bridge tower, the hanger slowly opened. He had the same excited tingle now as when his first command, a corvette named Glorious, had left hyperspace for his first engagement as commander. System assault! The whole fleet knew it was the bigest rung on the way to command of exploration and battle fleets, and they were the biggest rungs on the ladder to fame, riches and the Naval Administration Section, a retirement home for the navy's finest and a position of immense power and prestige...

Tettrea Belt Community

The Thyrians watched the newcomers. The White Ships, the Other Newcomers, and the Later Invaders. Three different races and fleets, three different threats to the Community. The Later Invaders, unlike the White Ships or Other Newcomers, appeared to be paying far more interest in the Community.

Multifaceted eyes observed the approaching ship while the Thyrians continued their mining work, ferrying ore from Plenty to Plenty, storing it in hidden caches among the rocks that they made their homes in.

The mining groups slowly moved away from the Later Invaders, moving to asteroids further away rather than back to ones nearer the newcomers. They did not trust the unpredictable non-Hive species, and at no point in the relevent time frame do they demonstrate themselves as other than a primitive insectoid hive.

"Captain, they huddle together too close, if we get one, there all over us."

"Right," he glanced at Gerspel for confirmation,"forget it, they aren't trying to kill us the other's soon might be."

"Aye."

The little ship turned back to the rest of the fleet. A battleship, two battle cruisers, five cruisers and a mass of smaller ships, including a couple of merchant prizes. Boozian fighter technology was crude, and they required a small crew to handle even the smallest. Thus the rank of coxswian and the boat designation.

The fleet curved north-down east, back towards the inner edge of the oort cloud. The sensor officers flipped from aggresive heat/electric sweeps to passive long range comm/density.

"When we first get in sensor range of the enemy," said Gerspel, gambling his opponents had switched to active sensor sweeps, "move close and send this transmission". He shoved a datacard at the comms officer.

"Mitters, whats the situation planet-side?"

"Sensors are too far away for a detailed scan, but it looks like the white-ships have a near overwhelming numericle advatage, plus pre-fabricated bases."

"Damn."

The Ha'tak orbits the star to the side facing the other ships. She stays as far down as she can in the corona. Radiation from the corona disabled her active sensors, but her passive sensors were scanning as far as they could reach. They identified the Star Destroyers as Imperator II class and picked up movement in the asteroid belt. She took no move to leave the corona, however.

At the far side of the system small subspace portal opened and from it emerged the ovoid shape of a pyrovian long range probe, on a routine exploration and surveying mission. While surveying a nearby system the probe had detected transmissions that indicated possible intelligent life in this system and so its on-board intelligence decided that this system deserved priority over other nearby systems, though all were scheduled for surveys. So when the probe had finished its survey of the previous system it charged its jump drive, set course and jumped.

Upon entering the system the probe proceeded to perform an initial scan of the system, revealing the presence of several items of importance, three potentially habitable planets, an asteroid field with a signature slightly outside normal ranges and multiple unrecognised fleets, several in close proximity to planets and others on approach vectors to the planets, other items were of less importance and could be surveyed at later time.

From the lack of the previous transmissions and the presence of unrecognised fleets the intelligence determined that the two most probable situations are that the intelligent life had been destroyed by either a natural or self inflicted disaster and the fleets were here to investigate, or more probably, judging from the fleet size that the life had been destroyed by an attack and the fleets were either here to investigate or retaliate.

With the second situation more probable the Intelligence determined due to the numerical superiority and unknown intentions of the fleet, the most appropriate course of action would be to remain hidden and observe until more complete assessment of the situation could be made.

Using an analysis of initial scan the Intelligence determined that even with the unusual readings from the asteroid field it would make a good position to observe from while remaining hidden. The Probe charged its jump drive, initiated its holographic and stealth systems to activate just after arrival, set course for the asteroid field and activated its jump drive. A few minutes later it emerged from from subspace inside the asteroid field, and after taking on the appearance of an asteroid began to observe the happenings.

"Dont worry, i have every intention of using the carrier's fighter bombers as defence, and in turn, the carriers escorts will keep vigilant within our own ranks, however, they seem to of completely missed the point, open another channel." Teánti replied.

"Yes Sir." The Officer Responded

"Thrashian Vessel, you appear to completely miss the point, this system is not yours, as it is not ours, it belongs to whom it bears life, these people that you have so willingly massacred, a crime within itself.

You may wish to know that any other ship you beleive secreted will be ineffective, we have had a scout ship in this system for a few weeks, it has monitored every ship that has entered this system, and to where it has moved, whilst we may not be able to see what it is doing, we know its there, so lets try to talk.

You may claim this system all you like, my friend, but on behalf of its inhabitants, we will protect it untill they may do so themselves. If you so wish to open fire, do so, if you so wish to negotiate, and talk, do so. If you so wish to comply, do so.

Veirsan laughed long and hard when he heard the transmission. The bridge was quiet as he did so. Trius stood behind him, stiff at attention. Veirsan stopped laughing and stared into space at the opposing fleet. “That fool, the galaxy has no need for heroes; there are no longer such things. The strong survive and the weak die, there is no other law or creed that governs this galaxy,” he said aloud. He turned to Trius. “Captain, issue the following statement: Attention Taskforce 24 of the Imperial Republic of Arenumberg, you have violated Thrashian Space and have failed to comply with orders to withdraw. You are hereby declared enemies of the Thrashian State and are to be destroyed. Good day.”

Trius nodded to the comms officer, who sent the message. “Battle stations, alert all ships,” said Trius.

Veirsan sat down in his command chair and called up the tactical screen. “Now captain you will see why I had our ships position us along their vector. The tie fighters can now launch with cover and we can use the shield power there for our frontal shields,” he said to Trius. “Tie fighters launch, and engage, Stratus Formations. Odin’s Eye concentrate all heavy laser batteries on the right large battleship, Cossack on the other.”

“Yes sir,” said the comms, the several different stations sending the orders. “I want our ion cannon batteries aimed at that carrier,” said Trius, Veirsan did not counter the order, so the comms sent the order. “Have our heavy laser batteries also concentrate on the left battleship, in concert with the Odin’s Eye,” said Veirsan. “And tell the Arrow to out from behind the moon at point 12-C, and to fire ‘down’ upon the carrier with its heavy batteries, and to launch its fighters to engage enemy ones, I trust Captain Fillan to decide their formations.”

From the three Star Destroyers launched over 300 Tie Fighters, they formed into group formations, like small pyramids, and moved out to engage the enemy fleet. The larger laser cannon batteries on all three Star Destroyer opened fire upon the enemy fleet as well.

“Admiral sir, our Dreadnought and Carrack ships have arrived and are to the enemy’s right, Captain Dimar, group commander, is awaiting orders,” said a comms officer.

“He is to bring his seven Dreadnoughts forward, and have them deliver their large heavy cannon blasts into the nearest large battleship, the to two Carracks, are to engage the smaller vessels among the fleet,” replied Veirsan. “And give me an update of where Captain Niles is with the Eroberung.”

“Confirmed…the Eroberung is 70km to the rear of the enemy fleet,” said the Lieutenant. “Tell him to increase to point-5 cruising speed, and to launch his fighters now, he is to hit the rear of the enemy fleet,” said Veirsan.

Trius stood nearby with his own tactical screen, watching as the enemy fleet began making its own counter-measures.

"Admiral, the shooting started. Looks hot."

"Good. Get's them of our backs. Halt us within sensor range of atleast one fleet, I don't care which, and lock."

Lock meant sitting still, no thrust except a little bursting to keep steady, guns inactive, hangars shut, and a big energy beacon on to assure others it wasn't an ambush. Passive sensors only, sending nothing, straining to recieve all it could, the space equivilent of dropping everything and putting your hands in the air. Of course the enemy didn't always see it like that.

"Aye."

Don't provoke, that was the trick. Let them make the first move. That way, you're in more control. In kriegspiel, the admiral had learned to move second. Of course that meant firing second, but that was what shields were for.

Volleys hit home, The Battleships And Carrier shuddered, but they were built to take punishment, and then a bit more, their shields began to drain, but they were holding for now.

"Fighters Inbound... And From the Rear!" A Cry came.

"Have the carrier send ALL of her fighters to our rear, Lets not give them even a slight chance to cause damage, Have The Destroyers and frigates come forward, have them prepare point defense, lets eliminate these fighters before they rip apart our formations." Teánti Said.

"Aye aye Sir" An Officer replied, touching keys on his console.

"Have All Main Batteries in the Fleet open fire on their lead ship.. the one that insignificant admiral is onboard, relay with our scout - use its sensor information and target their weak points, blow the bridge off if you have to." Teánti said, seating himself again.

Several volleys of laser fire smashed into the Domitian. "Raise our forward deflector shields! And have all laser batteries on the Cossack, Odin's Eye, and ours concetrate all fire on that right large battle cruiser! Now!" said Veirsan. He looked over the schematics of his ship and saw that the shields were slwoly draining.

Like a volley of arrows, the combined might of laser weaponry of thr three Star Destroyers shot 5 volleys into the right large battle cruiser.

"Admiral, the Arrow has reached point 12-C," said a lieutanent. "Good! Have Captain Fillan fire with his heavy batteries into the center carrier from its top, that should do some damage, and has he launched his fighters?" Veirsan asked.

"Yes sir, he has, they are making head way to engage the enemy smaller vessels. We have reports that the enemy carrier is launching its own fighters," the lieutenant reported. "And Captain Niles is within now within range with the Eroberung to the rear of the enemy fleet."

"Have him concentrate on the carrier as well," said Viersan. Suddenly the Domitian shook, a few crew men falling over. "What was that!?" Veirsan asked.

"Sir, we've lost our port side main shielding!" said a crewman. "Make a 30 degree yaw port turn, get our weak side pointed away," ordered Veirsan.

The seven Dreadnoughts dodged past a small group of cruisers that the Carracks began to engage, and reached within distance of the left heavy battlehship. "All heavy laser batteries....fire!" yelled Captain Dimar. 70 bright green beams of laser energy lanced into the side of the cruiser.

"All Dreadnoughts, move and engage smaller vessels," ordered Dimar.

"Affirmative sir," said a comms officer.

Captain Niles stood on the bridge of the Eroberung, watching the opera of lights of the battle. "Distance to target?" he asked.

"We are 23km away sir, and our fighters have begun encountering large amounts of enemy fighters," reported a lieutenant.

"Doesn't matter, all heavy batteries lock target, the carrier," said Niles. he waited a few moments, watching as his fighters played a dangerous game with the enemy fighters, the Tie speed doing well.

"Target locked Captain," said the lieutenant. "Fire."

"Sir, the Cossack reports a 34% decrease in shielding, if they are hit much more their forward shields will collapse," reported a comms officer.

"Tell Captain Ivera to route all rear deflector power to the front," said Veirsan. "And have our fighters in their front begin making runs at the larger ships."

"Yes sir," said the comms officer.

The four Tie fighters kept in tight square formation. "Black Leader, this is Black 2, I'm making my attack run now."

"Copy that Black 2, Black 3 and 4 will cover." The Tie fighter manuevered down the length of the carrier, firing its laser cannons away. Suddenly an enemy fighter came out of the ships hull, and the fighter couldn't avoid it.

In a bright explosion the two ships collided, and another Tie fighter lost his heading and smashed into the ship itself.

"Black Leader, this is Black 4, Black 3 and 2 are gone."

"Copy that Black 4, follow me, we're making another attack run."

"Copy that Black Leader."

We were on a mission to find new sources of Naquada for the Holy Empire. The only Jaffa aboard this ship are my First Prime and the command crew. The Carrier was, as expected, wavering slightly, its shields were in their death roes, and ships were keeping their birth as it slowly, but surely, slipt out of the formation.

The Carrier had one last card to play, a tiny bit of power left, as little specks blasted away from its battered surface, blinking out of existence soon after they were launched, escape pods, jumping home, no doubt - the carrier itself made its last ditch attempt to cause further harm to the enemy.

Of course, it wasnt attempting to flee, nothing of the sort, it had a tiny bit of power left, enough for a small scale in system fold jump.

And it re-materialised, ready to blow, near the main enemy fleet,Using what little power it had left, it manouvered itself into position, its golden white prow rearing towards the enemy, as the last few escape pods blinked out of existence - its engines, what little power they could muster, ingnited and began to propel this huge hunk of metal into the enemy formation.

Whether or not it hit anything was not too much of a concern, at the least, it would buy some time, and its explosion wouldnt go too lightly, either. A token force of cruisers began to turn to face the enemies rear attacker, and fighters began to begin their attack runs on it - destroyers exploded, and as the "right hand" battleships shields began to drain to the minimum, good news finally came from tactical stations on both battleships - Lance Beams And Torpedoes were ready.

"Fire All Torpedoes Full Spread into their lead ships, by the swan, AND FIRE LANCE BEAMS! Puncture their hulls, rip their shields apart, ANYTHING to get the pressure off of our sister ship, her armour can last but lets not let it get that far!" Teánti cried.

And so, as pure light began to slice towards the enemy, as torpedoes flew alongside the carrering hull of the carrier - one would wonder, was it really worth it.

Alone of all species could the Thyrians determine asteroid content naturally with but a glance. This rock contained such a concentration of this element, along with so much of that one, and so forth. Where it might take a mining fleet weeks, months or even years to catalogue an asteroid field, a Thyrian Community could do it in a matter of hours.

This particular field contained the usual assortment of minerals, some common and some rarer, but all known to the Hive. One particular element was frequently hunted in other areas, one named Nak-wadar, and was present in this particular field, other rarer elements present included Platin-num and Thasin-num, one which most races cared little about, but which the Thyrians eagerly mined for their own purposes.

We have taken no hostile action towards you. I see no reason why you fire upon us. Are you so willing to risk destabalizing the core?

Captain Rilek sat in his command chair of the Cossack, watching the battle unfold and commanding his ship all the while. “Helm, make a forward heading, get ahead of the Domitian, their shields are worse off than ours,” he called to the left crew pit.

“Yes sir.” The Cossack moved forward more, its laser batteries firing all the time. Rilek watched as more firepower was poured onto the larger cruiser to the left of the dying Carrier. The battle was going well.

Suddenly a group of heavier laser beams lanced out from the other cruiser and hit the Cossack hard. The ship shook with an uneasy sharpness. “What was that?!” he yelled at the sensory officer.

“Sir, Comm Scan reports that we were hit by highly concentrated beams energy. More powerful in the short term than our own batteries, but only at the short range we are at. We’ve lost all but 23% of our shielding, if they hit us again, we won’t last,” a lieutenant reported. He looked shaken and was openly sweating, but he kept his Fleet discipline.

“Damn! Have all laser batteries turn onto that ship and fire!” yelled Rilek.

“Sir! The enemy carrier, it just disappeared into a drive-fold!” yelled one of the sensory technicians.

“What? Where is it?” Rilek asked hurriedly. Before the tech could answer the carrier reappeared in front of the Cossack. “All torpedoes fire now!” screamed Rilek. The carrier was making a kamikaze run at them. Suddenly some thirty missiles launched out from the Cossack and slammed into the oncoming carrier. It was engulfed in a cloud of flame.

Rilek sighed with relief. “Good, now Helm, get us a fall back course on- ” suddenly the words died in Rilek’s throat. Like a demon from hell, the carrier’s flaming form burst from the cloud of flame and came even faster at the Cossack.

“Shit.”

The carrier rammed into the Star Destroyer like a sledge hammer. The Cossack’s frame held for moments, its internal frame melting and breaking under the impact and sudden increase of heat, then the entire ship snapped in two, and both ships erupted into flame.

Veirsan stood quietly as he watched the explosion. The entire bridge was quiet. No one dared to speak, for such a thing to happen, for an entire Star Destroyer to be lost so easily in such a horrific way…was unprecedented. Veirsan cleared his throat and breathed in heavily. The bridge started to return to its normal functions.

Veirsan turned to the weapons consul. “I want all, everything we have, aimed at that damaged cruiser!” he said to the Lieutenant standing there. “Yes sir.” Veirsan turned to the comms officer.

“You are to tell Captain Dimar to have all of his Dreadnoughts fire and concentrate on the damaged Cruiser as well. Then tell the Eroberung and the Arrow to concentrate their fire upon the other cruiser. And launch all remaining fighters. I want all Tie Interceptor squadrons to engage and destroy all enemy fighter craft. Have our Tie Bombers make attack runs on the other cruiser as well,” he bit out acidly. The officer quickly nodded and started speaking into his comm.

Lady Bastet sent a angry message.

The Ancien t commander activated the long-range holographic projectors, and aimed them for the bridge of the Ha'tak.

"We are familiar with your technologies. Goa'Uld, some Asgard... Assorted others. We see some merit in your people, but you could not survive a war of any kind against the Ankhmeti Imperium."

"We are familiar with your technologies. Goa'Uld, some Asgard... Assorted others. We see some merit in your people, but you could not survive a war of any kind against the Ankhmeti Imperium."

A response was sent.

We survived the Dominion War and we are surving the Shadow War. We know what we can and can not do. And, if you declare war on us, you declare war on SeaQuest's allies as well. And you are foolish to think we would be traveling alone during the Shadow War.

Two Furious class cruisers and three Spectre class destroyers de-cloaked in formation around Lady Bastet's Ha'tak.

"An intruiging attempt to threaten me, but not a wise one. 12 Ankhmeti ships are within six minutes of this location at 1/2 IDF speed. Five minutes thirty seconds now."

The commander's face was blank.

"I suggest you surrender, and submit to a boarding party that will be arriving in about five minutes fifteen seconds."

"Then you've never heard the motto of the SeaQuestian navy," came the reply, "its 'Never give up; never surrender.' I have no intention of doing either. You arrogant son of a snake. You think you can fool me? Its common knowledge that and species will fear the unkown. And you do not know how many ships are around here cloaked or what these five that uncloaked can do. Admit it to yourself, the unkown isn't something any enjoy."

"Four minutes. These ships will strip the system down to its component atoms if you do not surrender. Ankhmet has had thousands of years to develop its own technologies, as well as the Alteran warship on loan from the Alteran Ascension. You of all people must know the capabilities of an Alteran ship. Your Ha'Tak must have some incredibly powerful armour to withstand the large drone payload. It would be so much easier to just surrender, give up your cargo and leave. Three minutes."
SeaQuest
18-11-2005, 17:56
"Oh, I've got something better than armor," Lady Bastet replied, "while you were postering, my techs were installing a device that we were transporting to one of the Holy Empire's ship yards."

She nods at the Jaffa at the controls. He manipulates the controls. The Ha'tak wavers and dissapears as the Phase Cloak activate. The five other SeaQuestian ships also recloak. At a motion from Lady Bastet, the comm line with the Ankhmet ship was cut. The ship was now in stealth mode with a Phase Cloak that had been intended for a new battleship in operation.

"You can't hit," thought Lady Bastet, "what you can't see, touch, hear, or sense."

The Ha'tak 'surfed' the star's solar winds to a new postion.

"Fools. Fire high-yield weapons, wide spread. Catch them in the blast."

The front of the ship was suddenly egulfed in flame, as missile poured out of the forward tubes, exploding in titanic blast waves. 50 of these missiles exlploded in the area, making a huge area of 'splash damage'.
At that moment, the twelve ships of the Ankhmeti Fleet blasted out of IDF space, and almost immediately began firing their drone weaponry throughoutt he area, supplemented with their own missiles.
SeaQuest
18-11-2005, 18:18
The missiles merely passed straight through where the Ha'tak sat hidden. Thanks to the interphase generator that was built into the phase cloak, she could now occupy the same space as un-phased matter at the same time.

"Fools," thought Lady Bastet, "We were able to do the one thing you could never do...tame the Wraith."

She nodded at the Jaffa at the controls. He set it so that the ship's gravitic engines pulsed in a pre-specified distress beacon. Waiting in Hyperspace for a chance to face their old foes once again, sat six Wraith cruisers. They had been upgraded with SeaQuestian technology. The six cruisers jumped to normal space in a box formation around the arrogant Ankhmet commander's ship. Their weapons were hot, but they did not fire.
Ankhmet

"The Wraith? How terribly pedestrian... Get me a commlink to the Ankhmeti Fleet. Arm all naquadriah warheads. Pick your targets gentlemen, riase your shields and blow the bastards to hell."

The Alteran warship cloaked and zipped off into hyperspace.

The Ankhmeti batteships, boxy craft very much like hyperadvanced versions of the BC-303 raised their shields and activated the ZPM modules for extra strength. They bristled with CIWS weapons, ready for the attacks of relatively weak and poorly armoured darts.

They fired the first shots. Naquadriah enhanced warheads, weapons of insane destrucitve power. The area was englufed in a massive blast, an an incredible shockwave.
SeaQuest
18-11-2005, 18:32
The three Spectre class destroyers and two Furious class cruisers from earlier decloaked and cut loose with their megaphaser cannons. As for the Wraith cruisers, five of them wavered as each shot passed through them. While the holographic decoys kept the gunners busy, the real cruiser bore down on them, her staff cannon turrets picking off any shots that came in her direction. Then, without warning, she let loose with her twin heavy plasma beam cannon. Each was powerful enough to vaporize a small moon on its own.

OOC: My ships use a blend of technology. And I did say the Wraith I use are upgraded from the originals.
Oh, and the Furious class has four megaphaser cannons and the Spectre class has two. Also, as a nation that currently uses Naquada as a power-source, its use as a weapon is not new to me.
Ankhmet
18-11-2005, 18:44
[So... As soon as the missiles were fired your ships arrived? LOL. So you just moved them into an area that in several seconds was going to be dust? Nice plan :)]

The Ankhmeti ships immediately moved in compliance with plan six: alternately firing and using micro-jumps of their IDF drives to odge around the battlefield, or appear behind an enemy ship, fire on it, then move again.

The naquadriyah shots that passed throug the holoships quickly retracked targets, heading for the cruiser, their stealth profiles and heavy adaptive shielding protecting against the staff weapons.

"It really was a bad idea for them to send in a single wraith cruiser. Those things aren't even capable of destroying a first-generation ship, let alone the product of thousands of years of starship design prowess, aided by ZPM technology and drone weaponry. Bring three ships to bear on that bloody cruiser, the rest split evenly between those sodding battleships. Launch all fighters and drop all decoys and countrmeasures."

The biggest ship, a 2km dreadnought dropped hundreds of small buoys, each one transmitting scrambling signals.

"If this goes on for longer than ten minutes, I want the entire sixteenth fleet here."

18-11-2005, 18:52
IC: The Ha'tak quickly decloaked, launched two ships from her hanger, and then re-activated the phase cloak. The two craft that had been launched were not launched from the Death Glyder bay, but they weren't Tel'tacs, they were gun-ships. The two gun-ships (http://www.b5tech.com/drakh/drakhraider/raider.jpg) chased down each missile and fired when it was in their sights. Meanwhile, the Spectre class destroyers and the Furious class cruisers formed up along side the Wraith cruiser. All six ships in the formation launched a volley of ten photon torpedoes each. While all this was happening, the Elvenblade fleet was being mobilized and prepped to head for the combat site.

OOC: Naquada-enhanced weapons are usually nukes. And what use is a nuke, even a Naquada-enhanced one, except as a fire-cracker, in an arena where multi-gigiton death rays are thrown about like the Fourth Of July. And you aren't the only one to have had thousands of years to develop new technologies. Oh, and I only had the ships that were already there (including the Wraith cruiser (it was just on stand-by in Hyperspace)).Oh, and my gun-ships are a new class. So new, and secret, that you wouldn't know anything about them.

The monumental bulk of the Galaxy-Dreadnaught Seth burst from Q-Warp. The commander, from his perch at the very 'highest' point of the ship commanded a channel to be opened between his ship and the largest enemy ship.

"This is commander Jilko Benari of the supership Seth. Withdraw your fleet or I will give the order for my ship to start picking your atoms to pieces. Respond."

The main generators flared, powering up the ship in an energy spike that registered several systems away. One of the planetry-scale shields activated, and the matter-sorting cannons found their targets.

Admiral Trife was on board the flagship Keldiej when the message came through to all GFFA members. His Chief of Staff commander Kyual brought the report. "It seems our SeaQuestian allies have found themselves in a middle of a battle while exploring an unknown space. Their mining operation was attacked. What are your orders Admiral?"

Trife paced back in forth, typical for him to do while he thinks. "They are where the Abh fleet can't reach them. There are no sords in the area so we will have to rely on the human forces and their ships."

"But Lord Rahl is busy at the moment and there aren't that many commanders from the humans that have enough experience. You must send an Abh admiral to handle this mission but who will you send. We cannot leave since we are in charge of all forces while the Emperor is away. Spoor is busy at the moment."

Trife stopped his pacing. "Send Admiral Bebaus. He needs more experience after his last engagement. Send him along with a few of the new ships that are off the line."

Major Kyual bowed. "Right away Admiral."

Later the message had been received by Admiral Bebaus's chief of staff and twin brother Nareece. "Well brother, Admiral Trife has given you a new assignment. You are to take the human forces and ships and lead them into battle against the agressors of Ankhmet. You will be accompanied by Whitestars, Omega-X destroyers, Victory class destroyers, and fighter escort."

Bebaus sighed. "Doesn't he understand that he is thrusting new ships on me that use different tactics than the Abh are accustomed to? I want a Super Star Destroyer in reserve for reinforcements."

"Does that mean you are going to accept the order, brother?"

Nafie smiled. "But of course. All for the glory of the Empire."

A large fleet from the Abh Empire entered hyperspace via jumpgates and made their way to the battle at hand. 50 Whitestars along with 10 Omega-X Destroyers and 20 Victory Class Destroyers and large contigent of Thunderbolt fighters. Also the new Frontlineships were going along as well. About a 100 total.

A message was sent to the SeaQuestian forces.

Lady Bastet's Ha'tak - Pel'tak

Lady Bastet inquired, "E.T.A. of the Elvenblade fleet?"

"One hour," replied her First Prime.

Outside

The Spectre class destroyers and the Furious class cruisers continued to pommel the enemy with fire from their megaphaser cannons. They used their phaser turrets to pick off any incoming projectiles. The Wraith cruiser let loose again and again with its dual heavy plasma beam cannons (OOC: Remember, just one of them is strong enough to vaporize a small moon). Meanwhile, the two gun-ships made opened Hyperspace Jump Points as close as possible to the enemy command ship. Even the most heavy shielded ship, if caught in one of these rifts, would be torn apart on the sub-molecular level due to the vast stresses involved. They both veared away from the Jump Points at the last possible moment and allowed them to close. After a few such runs, the gun-ships started to pick off enemy fighters with the heavy neutron cannon mounted on each.

[A fast, armoured ship bristling with planetary shielding and CIWS.]

The comms officer on the bridge turned to the Admiral.

"No positive response as of yet, sir."

"Blow those snakehead bastards to hell. Activate FTL inhibitors and gravity well projectors."

"Aye sir. Sendin orders to all gunnery sections. The Shiva guns are online and ready to fire on your command. Exciting, isn't it? The first operational use of this ship."

"Fire. And shut up, Ensign."

The not insubstantial bulk of the Shiva projectile moved towards the largest unphased enemy ship at a third of the speed of light, a solid mass of metal with a nuclear warhead in the centre, designed to burst shields with sheer kinetic force.

The matter-sorting guns began firing on fighters, sorting the organic from the non-organic. Each one was surrounded by two frag cannons, designed to disable enemy shielding so that the sorters could work. The generator was not yet warmed up enough to use the turbolasers without daining shields, so they remained silent.

The gunnery crew of 500 men prepared the Shiva gun for another shot, clearing away the residue left by the propellant of the previous firing, aided by cleaning bots. The gargantuan second shell was already ready to be loaded by the loading crane.

OOC: CIWS stands for what? FTLi, sorry, I don't use Star Wars style FTL engines, so I don't see how that is going to do you any good. Oh, and you are going to have to describe your matter-sorting weapon better. Is it a beam or projectile weapon? Does it scan a target or lance through it? What color is it? A good RP'er knows to include details.

IC: The organic nature of the gun-ships protected the crew of five each carried. The shields of the Wraith cruiser bore the brunt of the Shiva cannon shot. SeaQuestian shields were designed to withstand F.T.L. projectiles (OOC: All my defenses can defeat my own offences. Its S.O.P., dude), so this light-speed missile posed no threat. The cruiser fired a volly of five Isolitic Torpedoes. Each could open a tear in subspace that the core of the Seth would pull through space like a zipper.

OOC: Can't tell you about my shields, or I would have to kill you. Seriously. All you can know, is that they are designed to withstand a projectile while the ship and projectile are going head on with both at F.T.L. speeds. As for my spelling, I always welcome it when someone points out a typo I made. It allows me to improve my spelling skills. I was close in what I thought C.I.W.S. stood for. As for the FTLi, you have to define what types of breaches as currently, I use at least three different forms of FTL for my ships. And asking for details is not being arrogant, its just helps everyone build up a proper mental image.

IC: Elvenblade fleet - En route to Tettrea Star System - Bridge of command ship

"Admiral, we will arrive at the battle shortly."

"And what do we expect to face?"

"A single ship with mulitple shield layers of planetary grid strength that is armed with light-speed projectiles and a beam similar to our transporters, at least. A third type of weapon has been identified on the surface of the craft, but so far the enemy has yet to fire them."

"Bummer, I was hoping for a challenge."

[Duly noted. The shields thing bothers me quite a bit but I'll let it go :S
The ship is fast, but it has a bastard of a turning rate, and it takes about a minute to charge the hybrid engine.]

On Seth, things were going as the High Command had predicted. The first planetary shield layer had been reduced to 76%, so it was deactivated for 2 seconds, and the second generator brought online. In that 2 seconds, a small object, possibly a fighter, had (in an incredibly lucky shot) hit the thinnest point of armour on the ship. One power relay was hit, knocking out 13 sorter beams. The generator was at 45% output, allowing 50 turbolasers to open up. A frag shell in transit to the forward batteries had exploded, killing 10 men and destroying a shipment of shells. Some of the forward guns had to slow down their rate of fire. Without those guns, the sorter beams would expend energy attempting to fire through shielding. And fruitless activity.

On the bridge, everything looked good. The hololithic displays all showed relatively little progress on the part of the enemy in the assaults on Seth, and the generator was moving closer to maximum output.

One of the sensor analysts saw new contacts. Quite a lot of them.

"Incoming. E.T.A. 4 minutes!"

The Admiral looked out of the thick windows of the bridge tower.

"I knew things were going too well. Fire the bloody Shiva gun at them the moment they arrive, and divert all turbolasers to them the moment we have enough output."

The various officers on the bridge buzzed around, moving to put the orders into effect.

oc I don't use star wars tech either but to avoid an argument over the FTL field I will just say that some of my ships have to exit hyperspace early.

Nareece walked up to his brother just before they were about to make the jump to normal space. "Brother, it seems they have dispatched an FTLi field."

He turned around from where he was standing. "So?"

Nareece almost fell down at that. "So? Is that all you can say to that? You should really attend more command meetings by the AIA. That means some of our ships won't be able to jump into the battle."

Nafie looked puzzled still. "So what?"

Nareece raised an eyebrow. "Maybe I should be Admiral so I can give you a position where you won't hurt yourself thinking. That means only the Omega-X Destroyers and Frontlineship will be able to get close enough for them to fire. The rest of us will have to hump it to the fight."

It was Nafie's turn to smile. "I may not attend the command meeting but I do not waste my time either. I have studied these ships and know what they are capable of. They are far faster than anything the Abh branch of Star Forces possesses and maybe even more powerful. It's alright dear brother. Go ahead drop us out of hyperspace now out of range the field. Trust me."

Nareece sighed and walked off to give the command to the fleet.

Several jump gates opened and out poured the fleet from the Abh Empire albeit a much smaller one that what is typical. Majority of the Abh forces were already occupied elsewhere.

One of the five fleets composed of ships designed to be effective against the Shadows, the Elvenblade fleet would get to demonstrate its power. Power that had been calculated to be able to destroy a Shadow fleet. The anti-Shadow fighters (http://www.b5tech.com/miscracesgroups/3rdspace/3rdfighter.jpg) alone had the fire-power to take out a White Star in a single direct hit and the anti-Shadow cruisers (http://www.b5tech.com/miscracesgroups/3rdspace/3rdcruiser.jpg), many times the size of the fighter, had even more fire-power. And that was just two of the ship classes the made up the Elvenblade fleet.

-"A third the speed of light" is not 'near lightspeed' or 'infinite mass/energy'; nowhere lose - things start to climb exponentially only once you get really, really close to Cee.

-The argument that being able to withstand FTL projectiles renders STL projectiles 'no threat' has... too, too many flaws. It's also, based on what we've seen, arguibly a no-limits fallacy without counter-ballance, and thus looks alot like an outright godmod. An explination would help.

-Flat out refusing to explain how something like your shields work, especially given the above, is... well, rather stupid, IMNSHO; I hope you have a good reason - refusing to explain really only holds water when the other guy has a known tendency to ICly act on OOC knowledge.

OOC: But having infinite mass is impossible. That breaks all the laws of physics. The only way my torpedoes can go FTL is when they are encased in sub-space fields. Breaking light-speed is impossible, by-passing it is a different story al together.
@Kanuckistan: You really want to know how my shields work? Well, here it is, as simply put as I can: The outermost layer that Ankhmet's projectile struck is actually a sub-space fold field. That is a prototype that is being field tested on the Wraith crusier in preperation for a larger version for use in Project Dawn.

The point was that, because STL projectiles can carry any amount of KE short of infinity, claiming that any STL projectile was a non-threat is a no-limits fallacy(tangentially, a great many people also view FTL weapons as godmods).

And SeaQuest, you might want to better explain this 'subspace fold field', or atleast what happens when an inbound projectile hits it; there are many things that such a term could imply(also, referring to 'subspace' as anything specific doesn't really help, in and of itself, owing to the fact that there are eleventeen bazillion different things called subspace(same for hyperspace, etc) - just saying, as it looks like you're using that word with specific implications).

OOC: I'm using the Star Trek version of subspace. The subspace fold field is a controlled tear in the fabric of space (as opposed to the uncontrolled ones created by my Isolitic torpedoes (think So'na weapon from Insurrection)). Also, you need to remember, this is only a prototype device, the full version will be used in Project Dawn.
@Ankhmet: If you read my RP's you will see that I use either the Babylon 5 or Stargate versions of Hyperspace. This means, I don't break the light barrier, I bypass it.

Ok, but you've overlooked the meat of my post.

Also, using those forms of hyperspace for FTL projectiles means that they're not going to be able to hit a ship in truespace without droping out of FTL, and thus becoming STL projectiles - in fact, the projectile would have effectivly always been STL.

Nafie nodded. "Tell them to in any case. They will phase in right next to the SeaQuestian forces. That will be their support. The rest of us will get there when we can. All ships are to be on full burn the entire time except for the Whitestars. Those will get there before we get close enough to shoot."

IC: A curved triangle-shaped double vortex appeared. A fleet of ships appeared out of the multi-colored rift which closed as the last ship exited. The Elvenblade fleet had arrived. They had moved in using the latest in SeaQuestian F.T.L. technology. The fleet was composed of ten Graviton class (http://www.b5tech.com/miscracesgroups/3rdspace/3rdcruiser.jpg) cruisers, ten Nadab class (http://www.b5tech.com/drakh/drakhraider/raider.jpg) raiders/heavy fighters/gun-ships, fifty Squid class (http://www.b5tech.com/miscracesgroups/3rdspace/3rdfighter.jpg) heavy fighters, twenty Incursion class (http://www.b5tech.com/drakh/drakhcruiser/cruiser.jpg) destroyers, five Invader class (http://www.b5tech.com/drakh/drakhcarrier/drakhcarrier.jpg) carriers, fifteen Valenn class (http://www.b5tech.com/isa/valenn/valenn1.jpg) heavy cruisers, and fourty Gatherer class (http://www.b5tech.com/miscracesgroups/soulhuntership/shunter.jpg) scouts. 10 Omega-X Destroyers displaying a bit of shadow technology phased next to the SeaQuestian forces. Their engines were at maximum ready to move at a moments notice.

Command Elbryan walked the bridge of the leadship as he looked to his communications officer. "Comm open a channel to the SeaQuestian fleet."

"Aye sir."

"SeaQuestian fleet, this is Commander Elbryan Wyndon of the Abh Empire. This is the first wave of forces sent to your aid. I hope you like the new ships. Compliments of our Shadow foes."

"Commander Wyndon," came the reply from the C.O. of the lead ship, a Graviton class cruiser, "this is Captain Michael (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/Kvess/Character%20Pics/1386_35440.jpg) of the Wolf's Rain, flagship of the Elvenblade fleet. You incorporated Shadow tech into your ships, we went with tech from a different race, as you can see," a pause for breath, "well, lets see how they measure up to each other shall we?"

The Squid class fighters began to bombard the enemy with their Fireball Cannons, a weapon powerful enough to destroy a Whitestar class monitors with a single direct hit. The Graviton cruisers let loose with weapons powerful enough to vaporize Sharlin class war-cruisers. The ships in this fleet had been designed for one thing and one thing only, to fight a Shadow fleet, and win with little, if any, losses.

The Destroyers divided up into two groups of five and branched off to opposite ends of the field. Their armor was Shadow bio-armor and stood up almost to par as the Shadow Vessels themselves. They were able phase in and out with the Hyperspace tap on board and manuever in and out of space when the ships weapons systems targeted a ship. Along with several missle launchers,6 Fusion Beam cannons, and 12 Light Fusion Beams; it also possesed two forward scaled down shadow death rays. They weren't as powerful but still packed a mean punch that could even puncture the Victory's armor.

Commander Elbryan sat in his chair when they finished their manuever. "Let's see what these new ships can do."

Well, here it is. Eppaulets or death, what a cliche, thought Lavoh.
"Contact the admiral. Tell him... tell him this is getting beyond our...initial estimates.

Admiral Gerspel, on the fleet command bridge, surveyed a typical war-room big board, showing the system, in all it's lack of apparent glory, and yet still playing playing host to many galactic powers.

"The Abh! This is getting ridiculous. What is so great about this system?
Well, lets forget the whole whiteship-greyship exchange for a while, they're still the focus, but we need a free hand."

Later, and the crew of the flagship was assembled in various briefing chambers. In the largest, the Admiral stood on the stage in person, while others showed video recordings. The speach was just ending.

"...And bring some traditional Boozian flair to things!

There was a cheer from the crew. The regular spacemen had no uniform, and looked very ragged compared to the marines, who also looked past thier prime in the modern world, in gasmasks, coal-scuttle helmets, and trench-coats, but the simple uniform held some of the best of Boozian technology.

In the silence of space, the fleet edged forward.

Wave after wave of Squid class heavy fighters peppered the outer shields of the Seth with their Fireball Cannons. The Sea Slugs rained down destruction with their Quantum Discharge Cannons. The Nadab class raiders/heavy fighters/gun-ships joined the Squids and fired their Heavy Neutron Cannons. The Gatherers blasted away with their Anti-Proton Cannons. OOC: Its spelled "exclusively" not "esclusively" as you put.

IC: The Valenns continued their torpedo bombardment. Though now, some Poleron Torpedoes (OOC: Anti-shield torpedoes) were thrown into the mix. The Invaders, now that they had discharged their cargo, used their shields and bulk to intercept the incoming enemy fire. A single Invader class carrier was destroyed and a second's bubble shields were blasted away and its skin shields now took the brunt of the enemy fire. Using what was left of the fourteen kilometer long hull of the destroyed Invader as an organic shield, the Wraith cruiser fired twin lances of violet energy from her dual heavy beam plasma cannons.

Captain Michael aboard the I.S.S. Wolf's Rain noted that the Seth was concentrating all its fire in the direction of the Elvenblade fleet. He ordered the Nadabs, Squids, and Gatherers to continue peppering the enemy shields with weapons fire. Meanwhile, the capital ships split into four groups, one to come at the enemy from four different directions: from above, from below, from the right, and from the left.

The research vessel Par-Taan sped through Hyperspace, the captain standing at the forward window, gazing at the 2 frigates positioned slightly forward and below the ship. Their orders were to scan systems for resources and life, if sentient they were to make contact providing the ship was not endangered.

Captain Torak sighed, they had surveyed over 150 systems so far in a 2 year survey, he walked back to his chair and pulled up an information list; 156 systems to be exact. Some had been nothing but a cluster of rocks, some had been so rich in resources and life he had sent the co-ordinates straight to Tsuran, the last transmission, sent four months ago wouldn't arrive for another thirteen months, even travelling through hyperspace.

"Coming up on system one-five-seven sir," the navigation officers voice cut into Torak's reminiscings, he pulled himself out of his chair to again stand by the viewing window, "bout bloody time, i was getting sick of the colour blue," the nav. officer grinned "4 days of it would do that to a man i reckon... dropping out of hyperspace now sir."

Three horizontal slits of bright blue appeared against black backdrop of space, they expanded vertically, and the three ships glided back into the real world. "System one-five-seven sir, scans indicate several planets, a reasonable collection of asteroids 12 kilometers off our port side, long range sensors show...holy crap, uhhhh, there's some weapons fire going on 24 kilometers directly ahead of us, a lot of weapons, especially for the sensors to read it this strongly at this distance."

Torak considered his options, clearly at this point whatever forces were out there were concentrating on each other, so hopefully they may not have been detected yet, however he couldnt rely on that, also he couldnt risk the ships under his command by attempting to make contact just yet, coming to a desicion he turned to the nav., tactical and communications officers, "Put us in that asteriod field, that should give us some cover. Tell both shield frigates to standby to power up on my command, have all ships go to evasive settings...and deploy 5 mimics while your at it, but have them stay close to us for now. Once we're in that asteroid field i'll deal with them too. Move!"

The three ships swiftly swung to the left and moved towards the cluster of asteroids, with the two frigates moving to position themselves, one beneath the research vessel and one above. 5 fighter sized vessels also moved out from the small hanger bay within the ship and took up formation on the starboard side.

"I hate battles," grumbled Torak.

1)The shields are 'solid' to ships that don't use Ankhmeti shielding technology. No buzzing in underneath :)
2)There is only one point that sticks out, the command tower (stupid design :D).
3)This ship is made to take obscene amounts of damage, along the lines of a death star superlaser.
4)I know what I'm doing, SeaQuest, and I don't need any advice from you.]

The massive bulk of the Seth strained under the mass of firepower aimed at it, the first planetary shield system buckled. Immediately, another one moved into place, soon supported by a second, but not before a barrage of missiles scoured the hull, vapourising the armour at the point of impact, killing 30 repair troops heading towards the strained shield projectors. The FTLi systems had to be deactivated to give the shield regen unit a chance of reactivating the damaged shielding system.

The titanic reactor of the Seth, the Eye of Ra pumped out more energy than a sizeable space-faring race creates if it's total doubled, and the power-guzzling systems wanted more. The captain faced a choice that could determine the fate of one of only 4 worldships in Ankhmet. Deactivate a shield, or lose some offensive power?

"Deactivate 10% of the sorter arrays! When enemy fighters get close enough, extend the shield over the bastards! When they're in, have the turbolasers light them up."

The shield crew of 10 men in charge of maintaining shield capacity fromt he bridge all nodded, and readied themselves for the next fighter attack.

OOC: eek.. curse me.

in example for how bad things have become, i woke up at 7pm today.. 7pm!

Im not one to leave a loose end, so one can presume after destroying a few more of each others.. prized vessels, the damaged remnant of my fleet somehow escaped, leaving a open door for a "Invasion of Thrashia" event sometime, eh? hehe.

Is this suitable for you?

OOC: Do you really want to have to go through my defenses then through some 700+ Star Destroyers, 6 large battle stations, and then a ground invasion? ;)

And yea, my ground troops disapeared as well.

OOC: Bump. So much for sportsmanship and letting you all respond. I hope this isn't gravedigging. Also, boat prefixes: L-logistics; C-command;
T-transport; I-invasion; E-escort(fighters); A-assualt (bombers). Suffixes:
P-pinnace(small); C-cutter(medium); L-launch(large).

IC: Mitters stood in the command pulpit of the dorsal hangar, surveying the might of the 24th mechanised of Vrolk as their bulky APCs were lifted ito T-boats. The invasion was ready, he was just waiting for Gerspel's order. It came soon enough.

"Field Marshall Mitters, the invasion begins now. The navy's part in this operation is over, I relinquish full command to you until you have occupied the planet. That is all."

Mitters sheathed his sword, which he had been fingering, and walked out of the pulpet, onto a balcony, before pressing the button beside him and dropping to the floor on a long lift. He walked towards his boat. Just walked, slowly and confidently, with his gasmask concealed and his pack off. Running to the launch in full combat uniform in these circumstances would of course be very un-Field Marshall like, which was bad for morale. He reached the boat, entered, sat down, fastened his gasmask, and flicked on the all boats com-channel.

"Okay boys, lets get started."

He hauled the hefty pack on, grabbed a rifle from the rack and walked into the room which was supposedly high command.

"Now, gentlemen, you all know the doctrines, but those were written for a war against a blockaded, technologically equal or superior foe. This is different, so instead of usual practice [landing in a low population area, such as a desert or ice-cap, and firmly entrenching, without ever splitting into more than five main groups], we'll break into numerous small groups and attack the large population centres. Now remember the principles, gentlemen."

There was a low half-groaning recitation. Of course they remembered them, but asking if they did was just what was done.

"Fight only for an objective, sacrifice only for a cause, always assume the worst, always remain alert, always remember the overall goal, always know the opposition, always know your army, always remember what you're fighting for."

The atmospheric entry klaxon blared into life.

Back on the bridge of the flagship, Gerspel was thinking. Of course currently his ships were all moving into bombardment positions, but what to do next? The most logical next step would be a complete defensive, but he wanted a free hand.

"Captain, you are in command of a squadron consisting of all the battlewagons, Halkswick, Fort Lilocron, and every smaller vessel except Undetterable, Unflinching, Unsundered, Grishen, and Watchful. I'll take them and the remaining cruisers, with Field Marshall Scmaldt..., no, you take her, and I'll command from Unsullied, and rejoin the fight. Rig up a long range transmitter, get help, maybe the Oprichnik, even, and more cruisers. Tell Mitters everything and do as he orders until he's taken the planet. Chief coxswain, a pinnace in the port hangar, please."

"Aye," they both replied.

"Oh, and prep any eight frigates to move to...," he stabbed an area with his datastick, "here."

Gerspel's new squadron, the battlecruiser Unsullied at its centre, flanked by two other cruisers, ringed by destroyers, moved back towards Seth and company.

OOC: I'm going to pick this up with me RP'ing my ships from the time after Ankhmet's surrender (in another thread).

IC: Lady Bastet's Ha'tak decloaked after the Ankhmet ship had stood down when the entire Ankhmeti nation had surrendered to a combined force of SeaQuest and some allies. The Wraith cruiser opened a Jump Point and tractored the scorched hulk of the wasted Invader class carrier inside. The rest of the Elvenblade fleet switched from Red Alert to Yellow Alert. The two Furious class cruisers and three Spectre class destroyers followed the Wraith cruiser into the Jump Point which closed behind them.

OOC:I'm confused. Is Seth still present?

IC: Mitters clung to a large leather net tied to the tank, peering through a pair pf binoculars with his free hand. He saw his target, shouted to the commander at the turret hatch, and swung in through a side door, slamming it behind him. The engineer greenlighted him, as did the coms officer.

"Carry on, sergeant," he shouted up into the turret, and joined him, reaching the top of the ladder just as he slammed shut the hatch.

The whole column lept forward, smashing through the crude barricade and continuing into the town below in the valley, the defenders scattering like leaves before a storm, then slowed, as Major Gelflen's infantry from the crude trenchline around recently taken settlement 74 scrambled onto the machines and grasped the nets, then forward again. Again the defenders broke, the few who stood taken out by precise shots delivered by the quickly disembarking and re-embarking infantry.

Soon they had reached their target, a hall which stood out in the surrounding dark age squaller, and the tanks formed a defensive wall, anti-personal weapons out, main guns in by way of mutually assured destruction, and the infantry lept down and rapidly blasted through the tough wooden door and poured in, with Mitters at rear. A few bayonet scuffles, two men down, and a second door breakage and they were triumphantly leading the enemy leader across the roof, as pvt.Mergson, with a fluttering Boozian flag in one hand and a hatchet in the other, carried out the universal ritual of striking the other guys colours.

Back in space, as Gerspel's squadron advanced into hailing distance of the remaing Seaquestian's, Mitters face appeared on the main screen of Unsullied's com room.

"It's all over. The remaining resistance pockets on the tertiary landmass have surrendered, and the main city, which I have taken the libert of renaming Scholernburg after the general in command of the assualt, has fallen. Were mopping up the stragglers now. I relinquish command."

Gerspel hastily compiled an acknowledgement and turned back to his hailing message.

"Seaquestian fleet, you are tresspassing on Boozian space. We give you the oppurtunity to leave now, strike a deal, or stand and fight. This is your first of three warnings. If you do not answer all three, you will be fired upon.

In response to the Nova Boozia message:

The fleet shall remain here until control of the Seth is relinquished to us by Ankhmet. We will not be taking any chances. As for you warning, we would be glad to open diplomatic relations with you. I, Captain Lalanian, commander of the I.S.S. Setna, a Graviton class cruiser, will personnaly meet with you. We can use my ship's facilities or yours.

Space

All of the ships that remained in-system, excluding the Setna, englobed the Seth, with their weapons pointed at her, and awaited for the Ankhmet commander to hand over control of the ship.

Meanwhile, Lady Bastet's Ha'tak opened up a Jump Point and entered Hyperspace.

"Understood. I would prefer it if there was neutral territory, but there is none so I will meet on your ship. As a sign of goodwill, I will order some ships away.

One cruiser and a pair of destroyers detached from the squadron, and turned back to Tetrea Prime. Meanwhile, on the other side of the system, three destroyers, two cruisers and the Oprichnik, an experimental design, burst into realspace. In actual command was Commodore Dernels, but Fleet Admiral Keklen, one of only three in the fleet to hold the rank, was also aboard, as it had been decided that this was too important, not to mention too large a command for a mere Vice Admiral. He informed the Acting Commodore, who forwarded it to Gerspel.

"Update. My fleet senior has arrived, and will carry out negotiations. That's all."

IC:Oprichnik and company dropped into orbit around Tetrea Prime, and a boat left the experimental ship and buzzed over to Gerspel's temporary flagship, Unsullied, with Oprichnik following close behind. The Admirals met in the docking bay.

"Gerspel! You've been busy I see, not to mention having a right chunk of the fleet here."

"Yes, sir. Here is the remaining seaquestian fleet." He handed over a datachip, then they parted, Gerspel heading back to his true flagship, Keklen into the midst of the seaquestian fleet, to make two offers and a demand.

OOC: Please tell me what ships are present, and where. I have a battleship, a battle cruiser, six cruisers, thirteen destroyers, and nineteen assorted smaller ships in orbit round Tetrea Prime, plus a battlecruiser, a cruiser, three destroyers and Oprichnik in Gespel's squadron, which is a visible bite off my fleet list.

Kekler's boat entered the Seaquestian flagships docking bay, and the admiral disembarked, with ten marines, dressed in their signature black trench-coats, following. He dismissed them at the door to the bridge. The only one following him in was his personal bodyguard, Telghen Hankels. Keklen took a seat and began.

"Well, I have two offers to make. Firstly, if you hadn't engaged Seth, we wouldn't have made it to the planet, so, as long as we get certain important pieces, you can pick perhaps a quarter of the system, all adjacent, with one suitable no gravity area to warp in and out of, which brings me to my demand: no military access to, or action against Boozia. Merchantmen in both our countries, if you wish, would recieve protection from our navies, and freedom to trade, but both powers would be free to declare areas off limits, with various levels of retribution for entering, perhaps ranging from a mild fine for misunderstanding a good's legitimacy to a boarding action for entering militarily sensitive areas."

"Now, my second offer," he gestured at the titanic shape of Seth through the window, "concerns Ahnkmet's failure to give up that worldship of theirs to you. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but your fighting style apparantly involves no boarding, no boats for that purpose, and few marines. Ours, on the other hand, stresses that capturing a foe saves money, giving you a free ship, removes the enemies option to salvage the wreck, relieves stress on shipyards, and can reveal vital technological and strategic data. What I'm getting at is that if Seth isn't handed over in say...five hours? It all depends on your procedure, but anyway, we can take her by force. Depending on how many men and boats you commandeer and we lose, we may ask to keep copies of everything in her databanks, but you would of course be permitted to look through first and remove any information on...you know, things that don't belong with the foriegn public. What do you say?"

Captain Lalanian had met the Boozian party in the hanger bay of the Setna and escorted them to the conference room where he listioned to their offers.

"Understood," he said, "as for your first offer, that is easily acceptable (OOC: Was close to what I was going to offer you via Lady Bastet).

"And, as for offer number two, while it is true that we may not be in the practice of using manned breaching pods, we do have unmanned, while technically drone-manned, breaching missiles. But, at times we will transport troops over to a ship after we get its shields down. Those options were not available to us for the Seth for three reasons: the battle ended before we could batter down her shields, we didn't bring any troop transports, and we didn't bring any ships equipped with aforementioned breaching missiles. So, your second offer sounds reasonable to me.

"Also, just to let you know, I was planning on sending the carriers and fighters away and having ships come in, an equal number of course, that would be more effective at blockading the Seth until it is time to move in. Just wanted to run it by you first."

IC:"We understand. So, if you would indicate which areas of the system you wish to take," Keklen slid a chip of the areas Boozia required, mainly the main planet, the main gas giant, and several chunks of the asteroid belt. "You are permited full military access until you have commandeered Seth."
Keklen flicked on his communicator. "Gerspel, call a colony ship, and move your ships to the belt region. We're dealing with your bugs, permanently."

OOC: I was thinking you could nudge Ahnkmet, and I could nudge Athyrn, and we could wrap up this thing.

Lalanian nodded, "Standard procedure is for Imperial exploration ships to operate individually when charting the areas outside of Imperial space. Though, on occasion, they do gather together in small groups when the situation warrents."

He held up a pitcher of distilled mineral water and asked, "Care for something to drink?"
