The world has seen many changes in the past few years. The Us splitting up into many countries. The fall and rise of some new nations. But there in little old Cuba nothing was happening. Atleast not yet.
When Raul Castor took over he basically threw off the communism that had been apart of cuba since the cold war. Many were happy as the strict laws Fidel placed were gradually lifted. Though many of Fidel's loyalists did not agree and were angered and left the Cuban poltics.
Though now Cuba was once again in chaos. Raul had been killed by a Fidel loyalist and the Loyalists were trying to take over. They werent going to without a fight. The cuban people unwilling to let there freedom go so eaisly again fought back.
Two sides were clearly drawn. The Loyalists still wanting to impose the old system back and The Free Cuban People. The battles began around the end of 2039. The Free Cuban People have asked the Southern confederacey for help explaining to them that if the loyalists get into power they will be more agressive. So far they have gotten no answer.
The island is ravaged by war, famine ad diease. The battle right now is a horrible deadlock with no end in site. An outside source could tip the balance for either side...

OOC: About being liberal, that is bit confusing, many consider liberal to be leftist, and far leftists are communists. Am I a communist state? And which US states go to whom? We need to draw up maps. At this point I'm going to assume I don't have a 'Blue-water' navy.
Central Republican Situtation Room
President Hugo St. John sat next to men encompassing his military forces. A General and several men representing his army, an Admiral and her Lieutenants representing a brown-water navy, as they had no access to the sea, barring the Mississippi River, and General of the Air Forces. The situation was displayed on a 3rd Generation Shigimi Industries HoloTacMap. The Cuban Island dominated the map, enemy troops were stylized into little plastic soldier like holograms, and small fireballs showed where fighting was occuring. After a short demonstration of what happened in the past week, the President was bored.
"So what are we going to do, the Southern Confederacy isn't exactly an ally, and they do hold a lot of agricultural reserves."
The General of the Air Forces spoke up: "We can use the excuse as a reason to invade the Southern Confederacy, we do have strategic superiority, our capture of significant amounts of materials at Groom Dry Lake Air Force base gives us an advantage."
The President shot back: "Nuclear weapons aren't the answer, nor are tactical subkiloton yield weapons the answer either. We don't want to reveal our F-403 assets just yet, and we don't know whether the Southern Confederacy knows it, and their navy is significantly stronger. If they close New New Orleans we are cut off completely. Our brown-water fleet won't do shit against the cruisers and aircraft carriers of the enemy."
The Admiral nodded sadly toward the Generals, the General of the Air Forces turned around and started talking with his advisors.
The General of the Army perked up. "What if we launch a land offensive. The Southern Confederacy has M1A1-A3 capability, but they are still mostly a M60-based corps. We were able to capture a lot during the breakup. And our newest developments could mean a quick victory."
The President spoke up again, "Yes but public approval for war would be poor at best. We have no reason to go to war, and as much as we care for our Cuban friends we won't risk war."
The Secretary for Public Information (read: Propaganda), got an idea. "But if they commited say...atrocities...and then attacked us, we'd have all the reason to go to war."
"True."
"We'll wait and see what the Confeds do."

President Augustine looked over the days reports concerning the Confederate States of America, commonly referred to as the Southern Confederacy by outsiders. What interested her the most of the reports coming in from the Military brass. They seemed conerned over a growing pain in Cuba, for what she didn't know. But overall she gave them free reign to supply themselves with which and what they needed to feel safe.
Years of peace within the Confederacy had brought on a state of medium with the People. They had enjoyed luxuries of the Country Life, and even the City Life. The People were happy with what their government had done for them, and they so far did not mind the military movement across their lands.
"It isn't enough to worry about one thing," Augustine said to herself in an all-too common southern accent.
She sighed as she looked up to the Confederate Admiral standing before her.
"I suppose you want permission to start wasting our resources on scouting missions in the Gulf..."
"Yes Ma'am, I'm sorry." General Jason Hart replied. He didn't like to press the President.
"Alright, go ahead. Do whatever you need to do. Say the same to all the others, I don't want to fool with this."
