(Reference thread) Alliances, wars, and cans of whoop-ass

I've noticed a lot of potentially good RPs go to waste because a small nation wants some action. I understand their lust for battle. I really wanna kick some ass, too. But there's a time and place for everything.

Small nations are going to ignore this thread, more than likely, but older members, please refer the classic class-b (Kinda willing to learn who starts a 'im gonna kik ur a$$) noob to this thread.

New guys: You're small and you want to play. I understand. But you need to learn the ropes so PLEASE read those reference threads at the top of the thread and the ones they link to. They will prove invaluable.
As I have said before, latch yourself onto a bigger power for a while until you can hold your own in a conventional battle. Provide behind-the-lines support and casual smaller missions for them and gain experience from that.

Big guys: If a small nation makes one of their war declaration threads, talk to them first. Tell them this OOC:
"I'll RP with you. I warn you, though: My military is a lot bigger than yours and you'll be eating your own ass after this, unless you're REALLY good. But I'll strike you a deal: This won't be lasting for either of us, just a practice RP. If you want land and that's it, then please read the stickies and the refered threads. Also refer to this thread: (Link to here)"

Do NOT, under any circumstances, decide that you look down on the little guy's imperialism and delcare yourself fully supporting the defending nation. I have a tongue-lashing in store for you guys.

Whether the offending nation is Feline Catfish or if it's AMF, I am hereby making the official definition of dogpiling as such:

Dogpiling: Declaring military, financial, or other support of a nation without a previous alliance declared against a smaller total number of nations or a nation or nations with a smaller total population.

For example, ((Nation A, B, and C are at it again!)) Nation A declares that he is going to go on a imperialism spree. Nation B decides that nation A needs to be opposed and stands up against them. Nation C has had no alliance made between him and B, but decides to declare his support for B. Nation D decides nation A is too small and backs him, but nation E and F back B and C with no previously exsisting alliance between any of them.

Now, should nation C and B have had an alliance made THAT IS EXSISTING between them, this is NOT dogpiling. This is merely coming up in your allies' defense, but if the offending nation is a noob (Under 500 posts and shows little RPing experience), please let your ally use the quote I have made. If the offender is experienced (Over 500 posts with showing of RPing experience, with being key word) then it is alright to use that alliance. Otherwise it's unnecessary alliance exploitation, unless a bigger guy gets involved on the other side.

The only time a Dogpiling alliance is appropriate is large wars where there are several nations involved on one side. You can declare your support, but shortly thereafter, you should set up an alliance for further nations and rules for the alliance. It can be temporary or it can be permanant, doesn't matter, as long as it's in writing. This allows for other nations to join in.

What I suggest for small nations that want in on big battles, don't get involved with the big boys with big fights. Organize with the smaller nations to have your own big battle with a moderator of the fight or have one of the larger nations on each side, but make sure to have the sides even as possible. This allows you to feed that hunger for large fights and it can help the war and the RP as a whole.

RPs don't have to have days of organizing before they having, prepicking sides and whatnot. You can decide to attack someone, just make an OOC thread for general OOC and OOC threads for the two or more sides to the fight.

Please, use your heads, people! All of you!

Very good advise. Thank you for your time and effore, as it may benifit the RPing as a whole on these boards.

Thanks. I've got a few good ideas for RPs that these could apply to. I just have to get them confirmed.
