Proposal to Star Wars Tech Users:

Huntaer

Now that the new generation of Star Destroyers (Towerless Star Destroyers) have been tested and used against an enemy, we're convinced that they would be very effective in battle. Even when outmatched.

Though they would loose out maned and outgunned (as in the ships used in the first scenario), they will provide a considerable amount of damage before they are destroyed.

We are willing to convert your star destroyers into Towerless Star Destroyers.

Differences between SD's and TSD's:

1) Removal of the Conning Tower:
It has been traditional for decades that star destroyers would have a conning tower to serve as the command bridge. It has inspired fear, respect, and awe. The Emperor of Huntaer however, had a different point of view on the Towers. Due to the fact that when shields are down, a small fighter could commit suicide and fly straight into the bridge of the ship, causing chaos throughout the systems though there is a secondary bridge.

The Emperor hated to loose ships that way, so he ordered towerless SD's to be comissioned. The Bridge is now in the center of the ship and a holographic view of the battle is provided to make command decisions.
The only draw back is a decrease in sensor range.

2) Increase of size:
Due to advances in Huntarian Star Destroyer Technology, the length of Towerless Star Destroyers is increased in size which will allow more room for systems, troops, weapons, hyperdrives and power generators

3) Increase in Hangar Bay size:
The TSD generation of SD's have a larger hangar bay and has the new "Stacking" method:
Stacking method implies that Tie Fighters could be stacked on top of another fighter, conserving room rather than just sitting on the floor or being hun in the hangar like most hangar bays.

4) Increase in shields
Due to new shielding technology, shielding on Towerless Star Destroyers can be increased to last longer in battle.

5) Increase in Weapons:
The weapon number increases with the TSD's as well as it's firepower (decimal point moved over right by 2 spaces)

6) 3 Powercores:
Rather than loosing one power core and have no power, the TSD has 3 separate power cores each 1/3rd the power of the origonal whole power core but at least if one gets destroyed, it won't have zero power.

What would be the main downside to them?

Limited Capacity by the bridge, and a high reliance on external, and thus easily damageable, visual equipment.
