The Wrath of an Empire!

Shazbotdom
13-10-2005, 21:32
OOC:
This takes place just shortly after the Emperors Wife, Mrs. Leotardia, leaves the Summit that was being hosted at Jenrak's nation. She is rather pissed off at the deligate from Kahanistan for his words and wants extreme revenge upon Kahanistan for the murder of the 212 School Children from the nuclear missile that Kahanistan detonated on Shazbotdom's soil.
RULES:
I have to now set up some rules for this RP. Even though i didn't really want to in the first place, but with continued use of WMD's as First Strike Weapons, i am forced to. These rules are now in effect from Post #81 and on.

No WMD's used as a first strike weapon. Only use them if you get desperate. This means no Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical agents allowed for first strike.
Try to stay as close to reality as possible.
Everyone is located on NS Earth. There can be orbital weapons platforms and/or PMT Space craft, but absolutly NO FT!
Thats it for now. I will add more if needed.

Secret IC:
The 3 AC-01 Aircraft were on final approach to Johnson Air Force Base. It was a long few hours and Mrs. Leotardia still had thoughts of anger filling her brain. Why the fuck won't the Kahanistan government transfer that bastard over to our athorities? Are they too much of 'Holier than Thou' assholes to realize that they are harboring a criminal who has illegally killed more than 12 thousand innocent people? God if he was here right now. So help me god.... She was interrupted from her thoughts by the Pilot.

Pilot: "Ma'am, we are approximatly 4 minutes out from Johnson AFB."

Mrs. Leotardia: "Thank you. Could you patch my husband through on the radio?"

Pilot: "I'll try, Ma'am." The pilot then punched up a communications code onto his radio. "Command. Transfer me to Bunker Alpha One. High Priority Passanger needs to speak to the Emperor."

Command (Over Radio): "Attempting to Patch you through now. One moment please."

There was dead silence for a few moments while the radio transmission was being re-routed through roughly 15 substations on a secure frequency so that it could not be traced by any outside source. All the sudden a loud beep could be heard throughout the aircraft and then, a familiar voice.

Galen: "Hun, are you there?"

Mrs. Leotardia: "Yes, darling. I have some bad news."

Galen: "What is it?"

Mrs. Leotardia: "The government in Kahanistan will not hand over the General in charge of the nuclear attacks. I got fed up with his bullshit and left the conference."

Galen: "Thats alright. We'll have to handle this in our own way. I have prepared a motorcade to bring you to the bunker. There are 5 identical limosines that will split up. Each has a person in the back so satelites can't figure out which one you are on."

Mrs. Leotardia: "Thank you darling. We are just about to land."

Galen: "I'll see you in a few minutes then."

The aircraft then started to make it's decent at the Air Force Base.

Secret IC:
Mrs. Leotardia entered her Limosine and it drove off toward the Bunker. All 5 of the limosines split up just on the 183 InterState, Taking different exits toward different directions. In Mrs. Leotardia's limosine, she sipped some gin and read the newspaper in the Limo that was straight from Shaz City. Protests occured in Parliament Square as thousands of people demanded the blood of those involved in the murder of the 212 schoolchildren one week ago. The protest, which started today, is schedualed to go on non-stop for 3 days. She looked up from the paper and told the driver to take a quick detour to Parliament Square. She had an idea that would at least try to make the people of the Pure Socialist Holy Empire calm down a little till the General was in custody.

***OFFICIAL PROCLIMATION***

The Pure Socialist Holy Empire is sick of the Nation of Kahanistan pussy footing around the issue. Then they tell us that we have to capture the General Ourselves. We are sick of this and will take action of our own unless the General is handed over in the next 48 hours.

Kahanistan has been officially Warned. We will NOT give this out again.

Upon review of the matters at hand, the Imperial Shogunate shall make this decree: should it be needed, we shall provide any naval help that the nation of Shazbotdom might need. Kahanistan has no need to continue such a controversial move as this, and the man in question should be persecuted by those he attacked. We shall stand behind Shazbotdom in this matter. Any naval help needed shall be given.

Al-Khattab Mosque, Najaster, Capital of Kahanistan

Friday, 7:00 PM, after evening prayers

The new Defense Minister, Admiral Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad, approached General Abu Hamza al-Aziz outside the mosque. "General, I managed to keep the government from extraditing you. Mention was made of a plan by Shazbotdom Special Forces to kidnap you and try you as a war criminal."

General al-Aziz frowned. "It is to be expected. But, I tell you in the name of Allah, I did not know about the children."

"I know you didn't. You are a good man. But, are you prepared to die for your country? If you knew that your death would prevent Kahanistan from facing a bloody war on its soil?"

al-Aziz nodded. "For my nation, I have risked my life many times. I will gladly die for Kahanistan."

Defense Minister Bin Muhammad smiled. As the general's back was turned, the Defense Minister pulled his sidearm and shot the General in the back of the head. The phaser was on a low setting and no blood or gore issued, but the general's brain patterns were completely scrambled. He fell to the ground, dead.

Bin Muhammad crossed himself and prayed. He had no objection to warfare, and he had killed before in battle, but he had never killed an unsuspecting member of his own side. He donned gloves and threw his phaser into the bushes behind the mosque. He then took the dead General's phaser and melted his own weapon, then placed it back in the general's holster. It was a quicker death than what Shazbotdom would have done to him.

Now, what was he to do? If he was lucky, he would not be found out as the killer and the general's death would be blamed on Shazbotdom, but how would his government react? Would they rebuild their nuclear arsenal? Kahanistan had made an uneasy peace with Jenrak, and had more troops to fight against Shazbotdom.

Would the hawks in the Senate be able to buy nuclear weapons from abroad to use against Shazbotdom, or would they simply remain on DEFCON-RED for months on end, waiting for the more numerous Shazbotdom forces to come to them? Would the peace movement gain more steam? The riots in Najaster didn't seem to take the wind out of their sails, even though they weren't so militant anymore...

It was all in the hands of whatever God there was out there now. Defense Minister Bin Muhammad drove back to the Defense Headquarters.

NAJASTER (AP) - General Abu Hamza al-Aziz, the controversial general and former Deputy Defense Minister responsible for the nuclear attacks on several Shazbotdomese military bases, was found murdered outside the al-Khattab Mosque in Najaster.

Al-Aziz, 74, is believed to have been sought by Shazbotdom for war crimes trials. Shazbotdomese agents are being blamed for his death.

The killing of the general comes on the heels of failed peace talks conducted by current Defense Minister Admiral Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad.

The general was killed with a phaser sidearm issued to Kahanistanian officers. Some speculate that an insider committed the assassination, or that foreign agents acquired a weapon to disguise the true nature of the killer or killers.

Details will be released as they become known.

Galen read the article over again. He was stunned about this incident. Why would those bastards kill their own guy? All we were going to do was put him on trial and they killed him. They didn't want us to know something, im sure of it. He then quickly opened up his laptop computer and typed up a draft message that would be sent on all open communicaiton channels to the international comunity. There is no whay in hell that we are to be blamed for this shit. I'll make sure of that.

As he was typing up the message, his wife walked into the room. They both were still in the undeground bunker. Safe from anyone who wished to harm them. She walked over to him and read the message draft. When she realized what was going on she swore under her breath.

Mrs. Leotardia: "Fuckers. Why would they want to blame us for this crap? It's their own incompetant government's fault that this happened. What a crock of shit."

Galen: "Now, Dear. They are tring to turn the International Community against us. We will prove to them that we are not to blame and that the Kahanistan government is."

Mrs. Leotardia: "I know hun. We never openly threatened his life. And those people who were at the summit know that. Hey, that message looks like a good one."

Galen: "Thakns, hun."

To: International Community
From: Emperor Galen Q. Leotradia

Let this be known. Our intelligence community has stated that the murder of General Abu Hamza al-Aziz was not carried out by a member of the Shazbotdom Armed Forces, Shazbotdom Secret Service, or the Shazbotdom Intelligence Community. We have a firm belief that it was an inside job due to the fact that the Nation of Kahanistan's own deligate to the peace conference attempted to coerce my wife into having our Special Operations troops go in and illegally capture the General as he comes out of his place of worship.

We do not believe in kidnapping and would never stoop as low as to murder someone in cold blood outside their place of worship. All of our personell were accounted for within the timeframe of the past 5 days. Let me stress this again that the Pure Socialist Holy Empire of Shazbotdom did not have anything to do with the asassination of General Abu Hamza al-Aziz.

God have mercy upon the Government of Kahanistan for this blatant attempt to ruin the reputation of the Pure Socialist Holy Empire of Shazbotdom.

***OFFICIALGOVERNMENT DECREE***

To: International Community
From: Galen Q. Leotardia

Let it be known. The Pure Socialist Holy Empire will not stop anything. We have not begun anything. But if the Nation of Kahanistan is willing to try and pin the blame of the Genera's death on us, we will not take kindly to these type of accusations. They are just putting gasoline on the fire of the Shazbotdom People's hatred of the nation of Kahanistan. If the people demand that justice be brought, we will punish whomever in the Government of Kahanistan that we wish to make sure that the people of Shazbotdom are happy.

If the nation of Kahanistan does not turn someone, who was involved in the bombing of Shazbotom, over to us within the next 24 hours there will be several million Marines knocking at your door. We are sick and tired of the prissy footing around this issue within the government of Kahanistan and will do ANYTHING that we have to for the saftey and security of the Pure Socialist Holy Empire of Shazbotdom. And that includes raiding and arresting everyone in a military complex within the nation of Kahanistan.
Kahanistan
14-10-2005, 20:33
OOC: Raiding and arresting people in a military complex in a hostile nation? Kahanistan's on DEFCON-RED, you're going to take in marines to grab high ranking officers in the bases on high alert? It'll be a massacre... of your troops.

IC: Defense Minister Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad sat down with two generals, reading copies of Shazbotdom's latest government announcement and laughing over a huge pitcher of vodka.

"OK," said the Defense Minister. "Well, let's think... we have about 80% of our forces actually in Kahanistan, and we have four major cities... Let's think, we could mine the grounds of the bases to funnel intruders into the main pathway into the complex where they'll be slaughtered by machine gun fire... Let's think, we have one space base and one naval base and one marine base and a Republic Guard base... all close to the cities, but on the outskirts so bombing them won't result in civilian casualties, we can't be accused of using human shields if civilians are killed. We have a total of 5,250,000 Republic Guards, 1,400,000 Imperial Marines, 350,000 naval personnel... the marine base is underground in the desert 15 clicks north of the city of At Tahrir, good luck finding it if you don't know where to look. 80% of that is 4.2 million Republic Guards, 1.12 million marines, and 280,000 sailors... but we won't be using the navy here, if Shazbotdom wants to fight, they'll have to come to us. Put in each city and its nearby base a total of 1.05 million Republic Guards and 280,000 Imperial Marines. That concentrates our logistical train and forces Shazbotdom to lengthen theirs to attack us."

The generals laughed. "They'll be in for a nasty shock when they find out that we've mined the only way for a navy to get into Kahanistan and they'll have to use their marines to get in."

The three men sat back, laughing at their tactical genius, and drank more vodka.

High above the hills of Shazbotdom, the MSF Dignity crept slowly through space. Running at only 4 km/s it was almost holding stationary above the Pure Socialist Holy Empire. The rail guns were being tested currently by shooting down old Shazbotdom Communications Satelites. Captain Keys was double checking the engine stats when he looked out the window to see a blast from a railgun shoot right through a satelite, causing it to disentegrate right in front of his eyes.

The communications officer suddenly interrupted him in the middle of his checks.

Comm: "Sir. We are recieving a message from SMC. the 50 divisions that are assinged to our craft are slightly delayed. They will be here in roughly 2 hours, which is 1 hour later than they thought."

Keys: "Alright. Notify them that we will continue to wait. Also tell them that we're done taking out the trash."

Comm: "Yes, Sir."

Aboard the MSF Dignity, Captain Keys looked over his informtaion before he walked to the front of the bridge and out the main window. The Dignity then did a 20 degree rotation before several AC-01's and AC-02's came through the atmosphere toward the space craft.

Keys: "Tell them to dock in the landing bay. Notify th AC-01 and AC-02 pilots that they are now assigned to the Dignity. I want to see the commanders in charge of those Divisions in the conference room as soon as possible."

Comm: "Yes, Sir. Notifying them now."

The Comm officer then types up a message and sends it to all incomming craft notifying them of the orders. Captain Keys then walked out of the main bridge and walked down the hall toward the main conference room. As he passed by the main hanger bay he spotted a SCS Project Marine step off of one of the AC-02's. I'm guessing that they assigned him to the ship just in case we need him. Several of the AC-01' and AC-02's coulsn't stay on the ship due to size constraints so after they were done unloading personell and equipment they backed out of the landing bay and headed back toward the planet. Several of the other space navy ships reported that they have their marine regiments on board.

Keys got to the main conference room just before the commanders in chrage of the 50 divisions came walking in. They quickly found an opena seat and waiting for Keys to begin the briefing. When Keys did begin the breifing, he told the marines about the mission and what might come for them. They would most likely be deployed via the AC-01's and AC-02's or via the single personed drop pods. Several key points of landing were pointed out on a map if an invasion was authorized. This would be a glorious dya for the Marine's if war was to happen. They would be the first on the scene and te last ones out of the area.

After the briefing Keys walked back down the hall toward the bridge. He was hoping that they wouldn't have to use the big missiles below his feet...

OOC: You have only 132 posts and you only started playing this summer. Regardless of your population, your a new RPer. This is what i would call a silly war, you can't possibly win. Also, by not conceding to the very reasonable terms still on the table you are throwing your people in harms way for no reason, kind of silly really.

The thing is you did make a mistake by nuking Shazbotdom in a knee jerk reaction. Now you must suffer the consequences. Now would handing over and bringing to justice those who are responsible be so difficult? It's hardly worth risking a war, and possibly total national destruction, over, is it?

OOC:Yeah, well there's this little thing called Article 16 of the Kahanistanian Constitution, which is basically a very strict law against extradition. If we extradited so easily we wouldn't know what horrible things would happen to them, hence the Defense Minister's suggestion to capture the general in the capital when he didn't have any security, and why he killed the General after the talks failed, he thought the General's death would get the Ottoman Alliance off Kahanistan's back and the Article 16 wouldn't be broken. Of course, IC'ly neither side knows who the real killers are, or their motives.

IC: The Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan requests military aid from the Militia Enforced State to resist the invasion by the unspeakably evil Ottoman beasts led by the Impure National Socialist Unholy Empire of Shazbotdom. We are but five million soldiers fighting against an invasion of tens of millions. Conspiracy theories spread all over Kahanistan over the true nature of the death of General al-Aziz, ever since Shazbotdom's accounting for all its agents was verified by elements of the Mukhabarat, Kahanistanian Intelligence.

The most prevalent theory, the one that Defense Minister Abdul-Rahman bin Muhammad espoused to cover his tracks, was that Shazbotdomese agents had bribed a Kahanistanian officer to kill the General if the peace talks failed to extradite him. That would explain the murder weapon and the absence of a Shazbotdomese agent.

Another theory was that General al-Aziz knew something that Kahanistan did not want Shazbotdom to know. This theory seemed to have originated abroad, but was gaining ground in Kahanistan.

Some speculated that a Kahanistanian officer had killed the General, either for starting a war or for killing children, or possibly to try to end the war. This one was closest to the facts, but over 200 officers rated as suspects on some Kahanistanian websites. They ranged from General al-Aziz's aide, Major Harriet Norton, to General Valens, who was a long-term political opponent of al-Aziz, to the Defense Minister himself. But only a handful of kooks suspected the Defense Minister.

The most outlandish theory, however, combined the theory of a Kahanistanian officer killer and a Shazbotdomese influence. It held that the Emperor's wife herself had seduced an officer into killing the General. Few believed that rumor, however. A gender-reversed corollary held that the Emperor himself influenced a female officer, of which there were plenty. Neither theory held water outside of a few conspiracy theorist wackos.

As for the government, the Mukhabarat al-Kahanistan was investigating all leads except for the obviously insane conspiracy theories. Their working theory was that an officer had been compromised and influenced or bribed to assassinate the General. If that were the case, they would never find the killer, so they first wanted to rule out Shazbotdom as a suspect. But in this political climate, it was hard to get anything out of their intelligence system...

"It's so sad that the world is now filled with capitalism and corrupt nations such as Shazbotdom." Dur nodded. "Filled? Or over-populated?" Khur chuckled. "Very," he started, "overpopulated." He spun around and typed the following to send to all nations:

Dear all nations involed(sp?),
The nation of Kahnistan only wishes for peace, and they abide by their laws set down by their forefathers. Who would dare disrespect the very people who started their own nation? Who? Fools and traitors! Obvisouly, Kahnistan is not a nation like that, but a nation who dispises them. And yet...who doesn't?
So I say, leave them be, or you will lose some important men. Yes, you outnumber us, but we dispise capitalist nations, so that puts in the catagory of, oh, terrorist. Yes, I admit I have used terrorist tactics. My people do, because they choose to. It is their will, not mine. Kahnistan may or may not use my tactics, I do not know yet. I have men with especially trained and disciplined troops. The Greeks of old harbored many city-states. Sparta, was one. Sparta describes Kahnistan and Quere, and Athens, a diplomatic city-state, describes the coalition against us. Yes, us. Athens was diplomatic, like I said, and loved peace. But the Spartans, oh, the great Spartans. They LOVED war. They fought and fought. In one battle, (forgot name), 300 Spartans held off 1,000 Persians. They did not fear swords or arrows. Not even death itself.
So now, protect your borders, hide your officers, and pull in your men! Keep your high-ranking and it will not be so bad...or will it?

After Dur read this, he smiled. "I have never, not once, regreted you as my brother." Khur smiled. They stood and hugged, then Khur said. "Send Juy. He shall take whatever troops he desires. Yes, as many as he wants." Khur smiled.
-_-_-
Juy smiled. He loved his army. He loved his job. He loved his LIFE. 8% of the military personel were ready. 2.8% were to stay, and the rest to go. In a recent time, the military got a major boost in troops, and 13% of the population now made up the military. The Army was the major of the going, with 3.1% of the going the Army. 1% of the staying were Army. The Marines were 2% of the going. Only .2% of that were Spec Ops. But they were the heart of the Spartans. In fact, that is what they were called. Juy turned. His second-in-command started to speak:
"Sir, we have 98% ready to go, sir!"
"Thank you."
Juy walked to his office, a few meters away. He sat at his desk and typed this message to Kahnistan:

Private Messageto Kahnistan ONLY

Dear nation of Kahnistan,
As you see, we support you fully. We have 98% ready to go. When we are finished, we will set out by air to your nation. We need an airstrip to land at, perferedbally(wow, sp) close to your capital. We have a few items to ask for:
Map of nation for each sqaud (About 98,456. Yes, that was a wild guess.),
Outskirts of any city stationed for use of mining and bombing,
Ability to be stationed near shore if needed,
And high buildings for snipers.

Thank you,

Quere, i'm sorry but i do consider 13% of a population of 145 Million with a Defence Budget of only 85 Billion a godmod. Your eocnomy would be crushed beyond recognition and would go into a huge depression that it would never recover from. Your troops would also not be able to afford anything. They would be fighting with sticks and rocks. You need to calculate in your Weaponry, Support, Logistics, Salaries of troops, and other essentials.

I would suggest recalculating your military stats with something a lot less. Most nations your size run a percentage of around 5% and not 13% as the 5% does not cripple your economy.

SCS Troop #42 was getting his equipment ready and loaded up 3 different weapons into the single person drop craft. The single person drop pod was in his room so he didn't have to run far for a quick deployment. The weapons that he picked to use were one XR-01 BattleRifle, one XR-03 Sub Machine Gun, and one XR-02 Hangun.

In the Marines Bunkers, the 4th Company, 87th Division were preparing for imediate departure. They were preparing all their weaponry for use. Cleaning and polishing them so that they were clean. In the practice room, several marines were experimenting with a new cloth that helped to keep body heat in during cold weather, and to keep sunlight out during hot weather. They kept the door shut and adjusted the tempurature in the room many times before they gave the new material the go ahead.

On the bridge, the weapons systems were being brought to full power and aimed at an unspecified target. They were still closing slowly on the position that they needed to be at to launch a decent attack upon the specified targets that they were given by Shazbotdom Space Command. Captain Keys was looking over sensor readings to check trajectories for any and all single person drop pods that were to be launched from the ship.

Keys: "This is the Captain. Marine commanders should prepare for imediate departure. Word is that an ultimatum is to be sent to the nation of Kahanistan within the next 36 hours and if it is not met we are to deploy within 1 hour of the end of the time limit."

He then sighed and sat down in the chair in the middle of the room. He looked over at helm and nodded his head and the Helmsman slowed the ship down to 1/50th speed. The ship was crawling through space. I hope were not spotted before we can begin this. I also pray to god that these assholes just give in to the emperor's demands and turn someone over. The last thing i want is to test the full capacity of this ship by taking out an entire nation. I don't like killing. But what has to be done just has to be done.

Keys: "Weapons, Prepare to lock on target. Helm, how long till we reach targeting range."

Helm: "Approximatley 35 hours."

Keys: "Understood." He then pushed a button on his chair. "This is the captain again. We are raising to Aleart Status 2. Yellow aleart is initiated. Polarize the hull and keep weapons on full standby."

The Hallways and all rooms of the ship filled with a yellow light to signify the change of aleart status. This was the beginning...

With the blessings of infalliable Fearless Leader, the Brettonian Army wishes to lend its assistence to the D.S.R. of Kahanistan. We believe that this flavor of international "gangbanging" is simply out of the question.

To the Defense Ministry of Kahanistan:

A Brettonian Army expeditionary force consisting of twenty-eight A7V Peacemaker (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9649096) heavyweight multi-legged main battle tanks, 900 AS-004H Stahlkörpe (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9748368) assault suits, as well as the requisite heavy air transports and supply/logistics complements. All told, a force of roughly 3,000 men, including noncombatants.

Additionally, it should be of notice that as with traditional Brettonian Army practices, each Peacemaker will be provided with 600 conventional and 120 nonconventional slugs for its 78-cm railgun. These will be evenly split with sixty low-yield 5 kiloton slugs and sixty high-yield 400 kiloton slugs. Each Stahlkörpe will be provided with fifteen 75mm conventional caseless grenades and three nonconventional grenades of the same caliber. These are of a standardized 1.1 kiloton yield. 500 rounds of 14.5x115mm ammunition, both in solid slug and HEAP varieties, will be furnished to each suit, with 3000 rounds in reserve.

This is purely an Army expeditionary force, so we will be relying on other allied forces for the required air power.

That being said, we will be prepared to dispatch the expeditionary force posthaste. Please specify a suitable landing zone. Our heavy air transports will require landing zone of at least 9.45 kilometers in length with an open area of no less than 3 kilometers to each side. We apologize for the massive nature of these requirements, but six-and-a-half thousand ton multi-legged battle tanks are picky customers when it comes to being transported quickly.

The Brettonian Army awaits further word to the dispatch of our expeditionary force. With luck, The Technology of Peace(tm) will deliver another conflict into tranquility once again.

Following a lengthy preiod of discussion we have decided that although our ally could deal with this situation adequately on their own, the forces of Kahanistan have not quite grasped the hoplessness of their situation. Hence we encourage Kahanistan to surrender at once or face a terrible period of suffering in their land."

Declaration by Lord P. Nikea,
Minister for the Armed Forces

Following the Ministers declaration Celtayoshi began the preparation of its Expiditionary Force to Kahanistan. It would consist of a large contingent of carriers, as per doctrine, as well as up to 100,000 Army soldiers and armoured vehicles. The Navy would set sail at dawn the next day, for now it lay at port, a flurry of activity as all the last minute checks were made.

To: Kahanistan

We in the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan, like our allies in the Ottoman Alliance, do not wish for bloodshed or war. We wish for a peaceful conclusion to this situation. We suggest you consider the options still on the table to you. You must hand over those resonsible for the attacks on Shazbotdom, but to avoid public outcry in your nation it could be done without public knowledge. It is concessions like this that would lead to peace, but it is blatant ignorance on your part that could lead to war if it goes unchecked.

Your situation is dire, and in the eyes of international organisations you are in the wrong due to your heinous nuclear attacks on Shazbotdom. You can still save your nation if you act now, we suggest that you do.

I am going to sort it out, and I was tired, so I'm going to 11% of the pop. with 6.5% of that going. THe rest are reserves in college...I guess, lol. The only thing about my first post you really need to worry abotu are the messages, and that's it.

IC: Juy nodded. He was just told all were ready to go. He then did a nod which told his second-in-command to get them into the planes.
3% (of the 6.5) were Army. .4% were the Army paratroopers. They got rusty old planes and the pilot was also a soldier. They aimed at a target and jumped. THe plane did the rest. The troopers would either A) take a base, B) make a distraction for others, or C) make a suicide attempt, but that was rair with a plane full of paratroopers...very, very, very rair. 1.6% were the regular Army kind. .2% of that were snipers. But if you ask anyone from or in Quere, you will be told that the snipers from Quere are some of the best. The last 1% were were either pilots with jets or medics, a few more medics than pilots. 1.8% (of the 6.5) were Marines. They were the smartest and best of the military branch. .5% were Spec Ops, the Spartans. The snipers were here. .3% were pilots, and .2% medics. The last .6% were the regular Marines. .5% (of the 6.5) were reserves. They were a basic mix of all militarial branches. The Air Force made up .5% (of the 6.5), and the Navy .8%. Juy thought that the Navy might be needed to bombard the shores if possible to make ditches and to cause dirt pile-ups around them.

The troops starting loading up and onto the planes. The Marines were first. The Navy, with their battleships (main ones with three guns), and there were about 15, sent off by sea. The Spartans, or the Spec Ops, loaded onto the first plane. Each troop got a Colt .45 and an AK-50 or AK-47. Snipers recieved a Colt .45 and a Dragunov SVD 7.62mm Sniper Rifle. Each (troop) got three frag grenades, two smoke grenades, and five poisonous grandes. The last granade, when it blew, brought poison with it. It was a way to clear rooms. The poison knocked out the people it hit. They each also got one gas mask and a health pack.
The other Marines recieved one Colt .50 (something like that) each and a .

Then came the Army in their planes. The snipers recieved the same thing as the Spec Ops snipers. The regulars recieved AK-47's. So did the paratroopers.

The Air Force all had different type jets, some with two people, some with one. Some with napalm missles, some with sharp fronts to tare(sp) through buildings.

The medic group had the basic medic things. They got in the last plane.

But there was one more plane, empty. A rolling table was coing to it, something bulbous and smooth on top of it, covered. Three more followed.

Soon, everything was loaded. They took off.

OOC:I hopt you can figure it all out of your own because I can't do that all because I don't know every weapon type. Same with jets. But I think you can figure it all out.

OOC: Technically, it's three [Kahanistan, Quere, Bretton] vs. six [Shazbotdom, Hirgizstan, Celtayoshi, Malkyer, Psychotic Psychos, Soragakure]. However, Pyschos has promised only naval aid, and Soragakure is small enough so that his/her contributions will be minimal when compared to my, Shazbotdom, Hirgizstan, and Celtayoshi's deployments. So, it's really more like three against four (no offense Psychos or Soragakure).

Kahanistan has also stated that his sole port is heavily mined, so the OA and supporting forces are going have a tough time landing troops and maintaining a steady flow of supplies. The scales are tipped in our favor, to be sure, but it will hardly be a cakewalk.

General Valens: The Brettonian Army expeiditonary force greatly appreciates your providing of the airspace and landing zone we need to mobilize our forces. The heavy lift transports (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a229/MalikCarr/venuswars008.jpg) were originally designed to allow us to move large numbers of A1 Admiral tanks at once, but with some modification we were able to stuff a few A7V Peacemakers inside. The ridiculous weight is one of the priciple reasons why we require such a massive landing zone.

It is no hidden fact that our enormous multi-legged tank would inflict violent damage on the surrounding infrastructure. However, by utilizing its thrust array system, prominently featuring "tesla turbines," a benefit of cooperative trade programs with the Kingdom of Sileetris, a Peacemaker may move through a populated area without causing much more damage that would occur from a tropical storm (39 - 79 MPH) due to exhaust at ground level.

In any case, the expeditionary force will be flying out to Al-Qamar with all due haste. We will divert to the International Airport if you feel the above consequences of Peacemaker operation are warranted, but unless that occurs, you can expect us at Al-Qamar within 72 hours.

As they walked down a corridor she pointed to a room labeled "UTILITY ROOM" which might have mystified an uninitiated person. She grinned and giggled hysterically. "No, not in there!" She led Juy to the end of the corridor and up four flights of stairs. On the way she explained about the "utility room." "People have sex in that room," she whispered. "I never go by there if I can help it, it's kinda freaky." They arrived at an office. "This is the commander's office," said Corporal Alder. "The General should be there." She knocked. "Enter!" barked a harsh voice. She opened the door. A large, middle-aged man smoking a joint sat behind the desk. "Sir, this is Commander Juy of Quere, an ally." She motioned to Juy. "Sit down." She sat down across the General, next to Juy. "This is Major General Brutus Licinius Maximus, the commander of this base."

General Maximus sized up Commander Juy. "General Valens told me you would be coming here. Please, take your time."

The armour on some of these things must suck, and i can't think what actual defence they will have. It seems to me that they would be relatively ineffective, sicne they are expensive and easy to target, and hard to produce quickly using MT.
And yes, some of this stuff seems a bit extreme, quite possilby PMT, the whole point of Bretton being in this war is to defend Kahanistan, some of his equipment would ruin it, thats our job.

Kahanistan, your map is a little too small. It would be better for the RP is you redid the map a little and added in targets of importance like Overt Military bases, airstrips, naval ports, and missile silos. That would help this RP a little more.

The 30 MES C-59's land in line-astern formation, while the XG-32 Swarmer fighters fly overhead, giving cover to the transports against any attackers. The large transports pull into the main tarmac, and pull to a stop. About 500 troops and 40 APC's disembark, arranging for the evacuation of the non-combatant that do not wish to stay. The head soldier walks up to the Kahanistanian head in the area.

"We are here to pick up any non-combatants that wish to leave. We have capacity for 60,000 people, and have 20 transports waiting back at base to evacuate more."

While he speaks, the soldier cringes at the thought of the logistics nightmare that will probably happen, with the billions of cars filled with people coming to the airport. Thankfully, they did bring 40 APC's to carry people to the planes.

Secret IC:
"The allies have begun talks. This might be a good thing, because it will help forumulate a plan and I like plans," said Captain Keys. Who then walked toward the weapons station and looked over the readings. God. I hope something good comes out of the talks between the allies. If all goes well with the talks this war will start and end within 48 hours of each time stamp.

The SCS Marine then walked onto the bridge. The officers looked at him in a wierd, bizaar way but he shrugged it off. He walked past the first officer, who was standing to the left of the captain and then walked up to Captain Keys. He saluted as he began to speak.

SCS $42: "This is SCS #42 reporting as ordered."

Keys: "Welcome aboard the MFS Dignity. From what i understand, your the first SCS Marine to be deployed into the nether regions of space?"

SCS #42: "Yes, Sir. It's a great honor to be aboard the Dignity."

Keys: "Yes, it is. Now onto other pressing matters. How do you feel about being one of the first to be deployed into the nation of Kahanistan? It must be a thrill."

SCS #42: "Kinda sir. From what i hear though they arn't that strong anyways. I'm kinda curious as to why i was sent up here. But i doubt that you have the answers."

Keys: "Your right. I don't have the answers, and SMC isn't dispatching any orders for you anyways. So your just to stay here while the inital attacks are under way."

SCS #42: "I understand."

The SCS Marine then walked out of the bridge and then disappeared down the hall. Captain Keys looked toward his 1st officer, who nodded at him.

Jentha: "Sir. I don't understand those SCS Marines. They think they are better than the rest of us when they arn't. He shouldn't even fucking be here. Sorry for the language sir."

Keys: "He has all the right to be here Tom. This is his war too as his homeland was attacked. I suggest that you watch your mannerisms around him. He noticed that you didn't like him. I could see it in his eyes."

Jentha: "Sorry, Sir. I'll watch myself."

Commander Jentha then went back to his duties. Captain Keys then walked to the front of the bridge and check the distance to target location. He shook his head and then patted the Helm officer on the shoulder before walking back to his chair and sitting down. Only 3 hours before we reach missile launch position. If we keep speed we will be near the enemy space base in approximatly 5 hours. But were not going to go that far, were only ordered to shoot the land, not the station. Keys then rested his head upon his hand. But we are more than well equipped to take out a station. All we have to do is launch an EMP to the station to disable it and then launch roughly 3 10-kiloton conventional weapons at it to blow a hole in the goddamn thing. We could do that easily, but are orders are as stands.

Corporal Lisa Alder nodded to Juy. "Corporal Alder, Republic Guard. The base commander is in his office." She motioned to Juy to follow her.

Juy nodded. "As we have stated, we would like to have the outskirts of any city to use for mining and bombing, and sniping, if possible. The by which our ships shall 'dock' at. We are going to lay down plantoons and unload our artillery we have brought. Also, ATV's with mounted guns on one side are loaded. He have broguht 300, 200 for our troops, 100 for you." Juy nodded, then wrote on a piece of paper: NUCLEAR He showed the two commanders. He saw thier confused faces. "We have three. Three nuclear bombs."

On the Ships heading for Kahnistan now. Quere was going to send satellites with missles soon, however. But Dur and Khur were arguing. They wanted to launch missles, but at who was what they could not decide.
"ShazBotDom! They do not take us seriously!"
Khur shook his head. "Another nation. Smaller. Easier and we still get attention."
Dur shrugged out of confsion. "You were the one that wanted to attack ShazBotDom."
"No. I wanted to join the war."
And so they argued.

"This is Johnothan Tang comming to you live from Parliament Square in Downtown Shaz City where protests have broken out. Thousands of people have hit the streets demanding retribution for those Two Hunded and Twelve school children that were brutally murdered in the nuclear attacks two weeks ago by Kahanistan. As you can see behind me, these people are not going to leave until the government does something to show these protestors that something is being some."

Signs behind the reporter read 'Down with Kahanistan', 'Fuck those assholes', and 'We want BLOOD, and we want it NOW!'. The reporter wsa standing as far back from the crowd as he could.

"Earlier, we talked to the organizer of this protest about what is going on and what they expect from the government."

An image of a rather pissed off female appeared on the screen. Below her, just to the right of her name, Abigal Mentora, was the words, "Recorded Earlier".

Abigal: "What we want is some asshole to burn for what he did. I lost my 13 year old, Jimmy, in those nuclear attacks. Thank Kod for the government though, they helped pay for his funeral. But God Damn those Kahanistan Nationals for doing this. I want someone to pay for this!"

The image went back to the reporter.

"Leaks from inside the Parliament Building is that a massive force is forming right now consisting of our allies from the Ottoman Alliance and some other allies who believe that what was done to the Pure Socialist Holy Empire was wrong. This is Johnothan Tang, back to you in the studio."

The image went to the studio of the Shazbotdom News Network. Stacey was sitting there alone as usual.

Stacey: "In other news, the last of those killed in the nuclear blasts were burried today. Hundreds of people who lived near the sight of the second blast have been reported as checking into hospitals with radiation poisoning. Most are said to be in Critical Condition as others are to be in fair condition. We'll keep you updated as more information gets handed to us. This is Stacey Keibler of the Shazbotdom News Network. "God. The waste is piling up on this ship," a marine yelled as he walked out of the lavatory. He then walked back to the bunks that his team was assigned to and checked in with the Commander. "Sir. Request permission to dump all waste into space?"

"Denied. The Captain of the ship has a different idea on how to get rid of it," Said Major Tompson. "I don't know what the hell he's planning but he better to it soon. It's starting to stink in here"

Meanwhile, back on the bridge the captain was formulating a plan. How do i do this without causing unwanted attention. Damn, maybe i should get approval from the allies. I'm not sure what i should do. I want to dump the waste onto Kahanistan but if i do then what will the alliance think of me? Decisions, Decisions... He then walked over to the intercom and clicked a few buttons. "Engineering. I want you to round up all human waste and load them into tubes. In the giant underground Space Corps Command Centre (SCCC), far below the rugged Legionnaire's mountains, banks of data screens glowed brightly, soldiers in white and blue camouflage and blue dress uniforms hurried about their business. Red Lights in every room let them know they were on DEFCON ONE, they had to be ready to fire the tens of thousands of nuclear warheads in the silos across Legionnaires, shoot down any incoming ICBM's or utilise the EMP and Spy satellites at a moments notice.

Situation Room One buzzed with activity, as usual. The main screened showed a variety of pictures across an obscenly large area. The main picture showed a real-time video of civilians filing onto the sides of a military airport runway in Kahanistan, others showed motley troop build ups and military bases in the enemy country. Yet more screens showed information about various satellites and their orbit plans.

In the corner of the room a sweating Liutenant clicked a button on his station and waited for his supervisor, a Major, to arrive. Once there the Major took hold of a spare pair of giant earphones and listened for a second or two. A smile spread across his face. He stood up and clicked a button on the workstation. "All stations keep working, but listen to this while you do." People stopped what they were doing and then returned to their screens.

A few seconds later a static covered voice could be heard on the loudspeakers in the room, it was rough and edgy but clear. "Engineering. I want you to round up all human waste and load them into tubes. Were preparing to dump them on the nation of Kahanistan, that is, if i can get authorization to do it from the allies." Various people in the room choked on coffee as they stifled belly laughs. Someone shouted out, "Shit happens, Major."

The Major himself then appeared over the loudspeaker, "Thats from an SCM Spacecraft, the Dignity, its a Shazbotdom Vessel as you know. One of our sats picked it up over Kahanistan. I think we can safely say they really stepped in it when they nuked our allys!" A couple of cheers and more laughs went up around the room.

The Great Hall of Humanity stood tallest of all buildings in the Performance Arts district of Hirgizstan City. Perhaps one of the largest public buildings in the Commonwealth it could house half a million people and had its own atmosphere if enough people were inside at once. It had been known to rain inside the building on occassions, mostly because of the vapour created by so many people breathing in the Great Hall.

It wasn't strictly for Performing Arts, although great plays and Opera's were sometimes performed there. It was built shortly after the Smolny Civil War as a building where the Fuhrer would address the nation on occassions, and where State rallies would be held.

On this night the entire Hall was full, the noise of half a million patriotic Hirgizstanians talking was a sight to behold. Outside in the vast courtyard stood perhaps a Million more people looking on with the proceedings using Screens so big they could be seen by airliners. F/A-22A's and F-4SX Phantom Blackstar's patrolled the night sky, high above the bright, never ending city. In the streets Police and National Guardsmen threw up checkpoints and ticket checking booths. The outside crowd was dotted with the black uniforms of the Police, and the greenish distorted colour of the National Guardsmen.

The Fuhrer had called the gathering because of rising protest about the situation in Kahanistan. On COH News Network, every night, people watched the protests in Shazbotdom, people, victims, baying for the blood of Kahanistani scum that would dare massacre children with nuclear missiles. Peaceful Protests had clogged parts of Hirgizstan City in the past week, where people chanted for the Government to do something about this menace, in Kahanistan.

Inside and outside the crowds cheered in an almighty rip-tide of sound that rippled throughout the city as the Fuhrer rose, fashionably late, to the podium. Tonight he would express his plans to decimate the enemy, to make them wish they had never existed...tonight the people of Shazbotdom and the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan, along with the glorious members of the Ottoman Alliance, would stand shoulder to shoulder...and be proud to smash a terrorist nation into the ground from whence it came.

In Celtayoshi too the situation was becoming quite angry, people had seen the photographs and the news reports. They were demanding action, now. The government decided that the best policy to pursue was to formulate a joint plan with their Ottoman allys. Unfortunately this wasn't rapid enough for the people, so the government resorted to an old tactic, they would deliberately leak details of the Celtayoshi Navy deployments to three of the major daily newspapers, and then hastly issue a no-comment as to the readiness to deploy.
Meanwhile, the Celtayoshi Government had also authorised CYSC10billion to go to their ally to help with future reconstruction, and current difficulties broguh about by the cowardly attack.

IC:

Al-Bahr, western Kahanistan, the only coastal city

The Imperial Marines on the beach were digging huge trenches and beaching the few warships they had left. They were going to use the ships as fortresses if anything survived the dense minefields into the port. The standard guns were being removed and replaced with whatever artillery they could find, mostly old 200mm cannons and four-ton missiles. Behind the ships, the once beautiful resort beach was now a nest of dragon's teeth, trenches, gun emplacements, land mines, booby traps, and every imaginable horror the Kahanistanian generals in the Imperial Marines could concoct. The only females on the beach now were the 15,000 or so members of the 50,000-strong XIII Corps of the Kahansitan Imperial Marines.

The Imperial Marine XIII Corps, the most brutal unit in the Kahanistanian military, only deployed against the toughest enemies, was assigned to this monstrosity. 50,000 Marines of the 21st and 22nd Divisions which made up XIII Corps were defending this network. Ottoman forces would have to defeat XIII Corps before they could even get into the city, and their commander, the four-star General Abdullah Hassan al-Ghazi, had ordered his troops to fight to the last man. He himself would be in the battle, unusual for a general. Soldiers were armed with whatever weaponry could get shipped there, M-16's for the most part, some had weapons consisting of two M-16 barrels hooked together to one firing mechanism to reduce jamming and maximize fire, and they had 35cm serrated bayonets, painted black to look more vicious in battle. If a XIII Corps Marine's ammunition were to run out, the Marine was trained to wait in the trench with their horrible combat knife and slaughter anyone who fell into the trench. Rumors that they were trained to slit the jugular and drink the enemy's blood were only half false. They were not vampires.

Finally, despite the negative views of chemical weapons, the XIII Corps had orders to release Sarin and VX nerve gas if the 50,000 troops fell below 1,000 and the nerve gas could be released without harming the civilians in the city. The civilians had been issued NBC suits, but that was a mere precaution, Kahanistan had no intention of poisoning their own people.

All the tubes were full. Engineering has reported that they loaded the tubes (which are extra reinforced for the drop through the atmospherer) into the ventral missile launchers. They were fixed with small booster rockets so that they make it to and through the atmosphere to slam down right on Kahanistan. The target was unknown at this time as the Emperor had not notified the MSF Dignity of any possible locations.

This was good news to the Marines, who were getting sick and tired of the smell that was plauging the ship. They also truly hated the Kahanistan Government, so this would be a way for them to actually 'sling shit' at the enemy. And it would be their shit that would be slung. Major Tompson was doing random bunk checks to make sure that all the marines were prepared for what was to come. Most of the marines were already in their camo, Desert Camo, which matched what was to be expected in the region.

On the bridge, the Captain double checked the calculaitons. He looked over to the Helm and yelled out an order. "Full Stop. Go to Aleart Condition Red." Helm punched a few buttons, weapons pushed a few buttons, and then the lighting throughout the ship went to a reddish color. He then used the communication panel to Engineering. "I want full power to the Hull Plating, and give me as much power as you can to the Railgun Weapon System.

"Yes, Sir. Transfering any and all power that i can muster," came back over the radio.

The Captain then walked over to the Main Communications Panel and tapped the Leutenant on the shoulder. "Open a frequency to the Kahanistan Government. High priority."

"Frequency Open Sir."

As you would know if you watched Kahanistanian news, I have dismissed as Deputy Defense Minister the man who fired the nuclear missiles, General Abu Hamza al-Aziz, and he was later murdered by a person or persons unknown. "MISSILES AWAY, MISSILES AWAY! Co-ordinates headed for the MSF Dignity. Schematics suggest nuclear." The Major bellowed over the intercom. The screens switched to various satellites tracking the six missiles headed up into the atmosphere. "SAAMDS...get me a firing solution, NOW DAMM IT!" The Space Altitude Area Missile Defense System, perhaps the most important national defense system in the COH.

The consolse blinked an error command and the Luitenant monitoring it turned to the Major, "Sir, we have permission to fire on the missiles, but the solution isn't complete, looks like its going to be an horizon shot as the sats have been moving away to give the Dignity Space, its also a secondary turret on the spy satellite over Kahanistan, nearest the Dignity."

"I don't care liutenant, we're not going to tolerate another nuclear strike. Do what you must. The Liutenant nodded and turned to his console.

He opened a red box to reveal a red button, which he depressed.
Within sight of the dignity the OMP/DS-01 Satellite opened at the bottom, revealing a triplet of shiny barrels. Silently the space around them began to distort, showing massive heat build up. Suddenly a lance of white and red light burst forth from the tip of the satellite, lancing far into space.

Over earth a silent explosion was seen far below the missile and the MSF Dignity. As the explosion dissipated in the vaccum another lance of light shot out in the same direction, followed by another explosion. The satellite manouvered slightly, emitting shots of air into space, and fired again. A larger explosion this time, probably designed to detonate a nuclear warhead. Another lance of light, the fourth struck out deeply into space, followed by a bigger explosion. The missile suddenly closed up and its menacingly bright barrels disappeared behind a shroud as it manouvred back into position.

In the SCCC Situation Room the Liutenant breathed out slowly. "Sir, two missles still loose, we can't track their co-ords, can't get a shot. Looks like we eliminted the nuclear warheads though."

"Ok, good work. I want another two SAAMDS equipped satellites into the area within 24 hours. Notify the Dignity.

Regardless of whether they strike their target or not we will issue you a warning. If you use any sort of WMD now or in the future of this conflict we, the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan, will seek approvale from Shazbotdom to fire a 90,000MT nuclear warhead at your nation. In the very depths of the SCCC in Legionnaire's a small room was aglow with computer screens. Two men sat working away at a central monitoring bank, typing and moving control sticks.

Behind them stood a medal adorned Space Corps General, his face deeply scarred from experimental space craft crashes. He spoke softly and deeply, a rolling and thunderous voice, kept very low, "Are they all in position yet?" One of the men sitting at the control bank turned around, he was wearing glasses and had Colonel's insignia on his shoulder boards. "Numbers one to twenty-five are in position, the rest are in a high orbit, we're moving them as fast as we dare. They'll be ready in position tomorrow morning."

The ship banked heavily to the right as one of the missile shot past the front window. All the sudden Captain Keys pushed a button and then ordered the Weapons to fire. The main Rail Gun turrets then turned Quickly and set off multiple shots toward the second incomming missile. This is fucking rediculous, the Captain thought to himself. These fuckers will pay now. as he says that, one rail gun bolt from the guns slammed directly into the fuselage of the incomming rocket causing the fuselage to rip apart from the rest of the rocket. This sent the warhead into a tailspin. The ship moved out of the way just in time for the second warhead to miss.

"I want a retreval team to go into an AC-01 and pick up that warhead. We will deliver it back to those bastards how we found it." Said the Captain.

With that, AC-01 Alpha Five launched from the main docking bay and flew out toward the warhead. it used a grappling hook to stop the warhead from spinning. A short EMP Burst was sent in the direction of the warhead to stop the electronics from triggering an explosion.

"This is Alpha Five, we've retrieved the warhead and are now turning back toward the planet. The warhead is disabled and will not explode at all, even if it is dropped on the nation that fired it." The pilot said.

"Good. I want that fucking thing dropped right outside their capital city. I don't give a damn if it falls apart spreading radiation for a few meters. They wanted a war, they will get one," Replied Captain Keys.

The AC-01 then did a fixed trajectory and flew right towards the outskirts of the Captial of Quere. When the AC-01 was only one-half a kilometer from the atmosphere, it dropped the warhead. Captain Keys watched from the bridge of the space ship as the ship moved back to it's orriginal position. Now they've done it. They wanted to give us this warhead, well they can have it back.

Just after he said that, the warhead started to break through the atmosphere. Heading only 200 Meters outside of the Captial of Quere.

"Sir, IntelSat Zeta-14 has detected several missiles being fired into space. Specs suggest nuclear on at least one of the missiles," said Major Todd M. Garrett, the missile control officer.

"Where were they fired from?" asked Maj. Gen. Brutus Licinius Maximus, the base commander.

"Looks like Quere. Well, at least we know they're on our side now. The Ottoman Alliance must be good and pissed at them."

"Well..." said the two-star general, "send them some anti-missile systems, or even the specs of our own. They're pretty poor, from the look of things. Try to invite anywhere from 50,000 to 300,000 of their troops into Kahanistan to cross-train with the Imperial Marines. We might learn a few things about their tactics, too. Also, see how far we can extend our anti-missile defenses. Can we get missiles to Quere before the Alliance counterattacks?"

"Probably not, sir. But we'll try to get about 10 anti-missile launchers over to Quere and maybe one proper nuke launcher. Hopefully they have plenty of nukes, we haven't gotten as much on that plutonium order we placed as we hoped."

"I see. Wire 100 billion dollars to Quere for defense. How much is that in racist shekels?" The general did some quick calculations in his head. "55.5 billion racist shekels."

As the Major turned to leave, the general added something else. "And find out what's keeping Bretton. We were expecting their troops here any day."

"Yes, Sir!"

OOC: Kahanistan, i would say that in your last post your pretty much made a serious God-Mod, let me explain.

By heavily mining your main ports and coastal areas you have stopped imports to your nation, whether you meant to or not is beside the point, this a realistic RP, and we play by the rules. No imports naturally means little or no exports. That means a seriously BIG problem for your economy, which by this time would be in a recession due to the lack of capital. (And btw, the economy calculators do not calculate for war, so don't quote them to prove me wrong.) 100 Billion Dollars is a LOT of money for a nation of under a Billion people and not such a good exchange rate to the Dollar, and in a recession you could not afford such a payment without a further, serious, blow to your economy and war effort.

This is nothing against your nation simply because your the enemy, this is in the interests of fairness all round. Naturally we should have ignored Quere's post, but we've let that slide, we'll be dammned if we let another GOD-MOD slide though. In fact even your monetary calculations are wrong based on your current exchange rate: http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=Kahanistan

Currently it is: Exchange Rate: 1.2871 Racist Shekels = $1, thus you actually would be paying 128.71 Billion Racist Shekels, not the 55.5 Billion Racist Shekels which you quoted in your post, above.

You also have absoloutely no Trade Surplus on which to fall back on, and judging by your Government Budget Details you wouldn't have much left from your budget to spend on anything that expensive, never mind an 'off the cuff' payment to a terrorist nation.

Naturally you can play on having paid 100 Billion dollars to Quere but you have to accept you would be handi-capped economically which could spell a much quicker end for you.

"We've just about resolved a frequency to the Al-Qamar airbase."
"Be quick with it, we've already been delayed badly enough as it is."
"If T-30's engines hadn't crapped out..."
"We'll speculate later. Get me that frequency!"
"....hold on, I think i've got it."
"You think you've got it?"
"Ah, there we are. That's resolved it. I'm positive."
"About time... hand me that headset. Ah, thanks."
*ahem*
"Al-Qamar, this is the Brettonian Army Expeditionary Force, Lt. Col. Nouls speaking. We've been delayed by engine trouble, but we've now safely crossed the border. If you've still got that landing zone cleared for us, we'll be able to land shortly. What is your status, over?"

OOC: It comes out of the Defense Budget (I am defending an ally here), which last time I checked is over 3 trillion bucks. And you can accept that the general made a goof in his calculations (he did them in his head!) and wired 55.5 billion RS = 43.12 billion dollars instead of the 100 billion he'd hoped.

Also, I can still get supplies by land and air. Those red lines you saw on the map between the cities and stretching off the map? Highways. And the four major cities have airports, although only the Capital and the Air Force base have very large airports capable of accepting A7V Peacekeepers. The other airports can receive supplies we trade for though.

CYNV ~ Invincible

Captain James Speers had recently been promoted to Captain, he never expected to be in a conflict this quickly. His ship was the lead ship for the Invincible Carrier Battlegroup, one of three being deployed by Celtayoshi. Although Invincible was one of the smaller carriers she had been deployed because someone in Naval Command decided to test a new tactic of deployment, using three large carriers for offensive actions, a fourth Nimitz style carrier and two smaller carriers to provide defencive cover. The fleet would then be mixed in with 10,000 Celtayoshi Marines, who would most likely be the first to be deployed. Then gradually 7 Light Infantry Dvisions (totally 70,000 men) would be deployed, mostly by airdrop, and then after the port had been cleared 3 Armoured Cavalry Divisions would be landed, to provide some bulk firepower. A full ORBAT was to be delivered to the allies within 24hours, although the fleet was having severe communications problems.

In the meantime requests were sent to the allied fleets requesting their positions in relation to Kahanistan

OOC"2 out of 6 missles were nukes. I have more. Yes, that was a statement, though.
What I don't like is ALL of them were destroyed. That's really not fair. The ones without a path were going to explode nearby, causing less damage. I'll go along with it, however, because you did not make me repost.

IC: Khur slammed his fiston the table. "Anti-aircraft, now!" Guns and a few anti-aircraft missles shot up into the sky at the incoming ship(s?). The guns were not all the new, so some missed, but atleast caused havoc in the sky. As they were firing, Dur and Khur talked.
"Yep. Pissed."
Dur nodded, chuckling. "Very, very, very. So sad."

IC:

Admiral James 'Jumpin' Jackson sat in his Commanders Chair, looking out over the sea from the brig of the HNS Hirgizstan, the Flagship of the COH Naval Task Force Fury. In the distance he could make out the HNS Constellation, the other Imrpoved Nimitz Class Carrier in the 1st Fleet. To his front and behind were the two smaller Vampire Class Carriers of the 1st Fleet, and if he looked out behind him with his binoculars he could make out the 17th Fleet and the 3rd Marine Division's ships, flanked by their mighty, imposing Oil Tanker Transports.

Admiral Jackson was something of an enigma in the COH Navy. Known as a daring tactician and brilliant thinker, someone who couldn't stand being still for any length of time. Known as 'Jumpin Jack' to his men, he would drawl in his souther Hirgizstanian accent as he ran past the men on his morning runs on the ship. Rarely seen without a cigar, even on his runs, he carried an ornate saber everywhere he went, usually clinking around his waist.

He had become a legend after leading a group of Frigates and Riverin Patrol Boats on daring raids in the drug wars in Hirgizstanian Nations, during its colonization. He had once been shot four times while standing on the deck of a 'Pibber', and was rumoured to have played dead on the boat, coming alive only to cut to death his attackers as they attempted to board. For his actions he had won the Medal of Honor, and many other decorations.

He had also written a plethora of Naval Strategy books, and books on his experiences in the Colonies. He sat in the chair, perusing a report on the recent troop movements and build ups in Kahanistan, casually jotting down important bits of info in neat handwriting on a file block on his knee.

A young Naval NCO walked into the bridge and crisply saluted the Admiral. He wore the blue, black and light blue MARPAT BDU's the Navy had recently introduced for the NCO's. The Admiral had remarked, famously, that 'they make the men look more like Navy men than that damm costume we used to hafta wear.'

Seinor Officers still wore the brown uniform, but they approved of the new Digital camouflage patterns, that matched the strange digital patterns now painted on the Hulls of the ships. The young NCO handed a note over to the Admiral and stood to the side, smartly at ease.
The Admiral's eyes moved back and forth as he read the small note.

"So where exactly are Captain Speers and the CYN?"

The NCO replied, "They're cruising around 75 Miles northeast of our position Admiral."

"Excellent...send Captain Speers our position and this note."

Admiral Jackson quickly scribbled some words on a clean page and handed it to the NCO who rushed off to send it.

A thunderous roar echoed across the Al-Qamar airbase as a gargantuan Brettonian Army heavy-lift transport began setting down. The enormous aircraft's twin wings spanned nearly a kilometer. Nylon wheels taller than a main battle tank dropped down from the forward and rear sponsons; smaller wheels came from the rear tail booms. There was no characteristic screech as the wheels hit the tarmac, simply a cacaphonous groan of steel and aluminium settling as the transport's weight was born on its landing gear.

-- Some hours later ---

The last of all fourteen transports had finally hit the tarmac. Due to their size, the transports had simply been wheeled off the end of the airstrip and parked in whatever open space would not impede other base functionality. While the Peacemakers will still getting squared away, the first two transports began disgorging their Stahlkörpes. The black assault suits marched in columns down the cargo ramps, their feet making a resounding steel-on-steel reverberation. Among a number of officers exiting the transport was the expeditionary force commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nouls. His first words upon his boots touching Kahaninstan's soil, which would fortunately be omitted from the history books:

"Mother of God! What temperature is it?!"
Kahanistan
22-10-2005, 02:09
General Marcellus Q. Valens said from behind his visor, "It is 40 degrees Celsius. Do you use Celsius? It is also 104 degrees Fahrenheit." The general flipped up his visor. "Colonel Nouls. I am General Marcellus Valens, the commander of the 11th Air Force. Perhaps we will be fighting alongside each other."

The four-star general was a very large man, seven feet tall and more than three hundred pounds. He was also quite old, perhaps 70, but still robust. His tan desert uniform bore enough medals that they could have formed a suit of chain mail. He continued his introduction.

"This is Al-Qamar Republic Guard Air Force Base. The city of Al-Qamar is about fifteen kilometers away. Most of the delivery places in the city deliver to the base. The soldiers should be having pizza right now in the mess. Would you care to join an allied commander for some pizza and beer? We can discuss the operation further."

General Valens sat down on top of an armored vehicle. He sized up Lt. Colonel Nouls and waited for a response.
Bretton
22-10-2005, 02:40
Colonel Nouls quickly removed his summer-weight cotton greatcoat and gloves before continuing.

"You must forgive my unfamiliarity with the temperature. In the homeland, the temperature rarely rises above ten degrees Celsius, even in the summer... In winter, it gets into the negatives quite often."

Deciding that wasn't enough, the Colonel removed his beret and unbuttoned his shirt as well.

"In any case, I would be delighted to discuss strategy and take part in food. I trust your command center is air conditioned, yes?"

The Colonel smiled pleasantly, but looked quite anxious as to the answer. The sound of steel footsteps presented itself from behind him as a Stahlkörpe assault suit approached.

"Sir!"

The amplified voice issued from external speakers. The assault suit's diminutive-looking master arm made a sharp salute, which was mimicked by the giant slave arm. Nouls about-faced and returned the salute.

"Something to report?"

"Yes, sir. We're preparing to deploy the first tank presently."

"Ah, excellent."

The Colonel turned to face the base commander again.

"General, I don't believe you've ever had the pleasure of seeing The Techology of Peace in action. This should be good..."

Across the tarmac, brute hydraulics began swinging the twin tailbooms outward, eventually coming to a halt at the back of the main wings. A loud thud issued from the back of the transport, followed shortly by a second. At the third, a long, thick, spidery leg issued from the cargo bay, its toes sinking into the ground. It was joined by a second a few moments later. The legs began articulating backwards, and the Peacemaker's bulbous body emerged from the transport. Following the rest of its legs exiting the aircraft, it rose to its full height, easily eclipsing the top of the transport. Its eyes flared to life, and almost immediately began scanning the area around it.

"Armored vehicle, seventh model, twenty-second type. Peacemaker."

"A marvel of engineering and a tribute to the superiority of the Brettonian people!"

The assault suit proclaimed.

"Indeed. In any case, let us proceed to your command center. We have much to discuss."

The Colonel handed his beret to the assault suit, which took care not to rumple the wool with its watermelon-sized fist.
Kahanistan
22-10-2005, 03:28
General Valens looked at the Peacemaker. "I had been told they were large, but words failed to describe to me just how big they are. Now I see why your leaders were so adamant about requiring such a large airfield." He looked at Colonel Nouls. "Our base is air-conditioned, in fact, we have almost every office air-conditioned. And the base has its own swimming pool, too. It's a bit crowded today, though."

He pointed to a deluxe swimming pool, four times the size of a standard Olympic pool, in which thousands of soldiers of both sexes were swimming, tanning, cooling off, and whatever one might expect at a civilian pool. He nodded to Colonel Nouls. "Anyway," said the General as he walked the Colonel to the mess hall, "we have quite the variety of foods. As I said, most places in the city deliver to the base, we have at least nine different kinds of pizza on any given day, and the mess hall itself serves a variety of Kosher, Halal, vegetarian, and ethnic foods."

The huge general sat down next to one of the industrial-sized air conditioners in the cafeteria. "Now," said General Valens over his 40 oz. beer and garlic and anchovy pizza, "about the operation. If you read the map," he showed Colonel Nouls a map of Kahanistan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Kahanistan), "we have one port in the northwest, heavily mined and the beach itself is defended by the infamous XIII Corps of the Imperial Marines under General al-Ghazi. He has almost all of Kahanistan's limited supply of nerve gas. While we rarely use chemical weapons, this is an exception, but he will only deploy the gas if his forces drop to below 1,000 of the original 50,000 Marines, and if he can do it without poisoning the city of Al-Bahr. The civilians have been given NBC suits as a precaution, and the city itself is full of anti-tank mines."

"Inside the city itself is the 1st Army, three infantry divisions and one armored. The infantry are mostly on buildings as snipers, barricaded in abandoned buildings, or ready to fight in the street. Armored forces are holding the entrances to the city."

"Now, Colonel, what do you advise us to do, and what do you plan to do?"
Bretton
22-10-2005, 04:09
"At this point, it's effectively the enemy's move. We can array ourselves as best we can, but the enemy can choose to attack wherever he likes. And as we've seen, the odds against us are quite impressive..."

Nouls took a moment to consume another slice of pizza.

"Until we can get a better idea of where the enemy will be coming from, our hands are tied. In any case, we will assist you as best we can in this endeavour."

The Colonel placed a technical readout of the various Brettonian Army units onto the table.

"The A7V Peacemaker is our effective combat unit. Though it is extrodinarily large, its superior firepower, defensive measures, and target acquisition is one of the finest. It also posesses superior mobility on account of its ability to tackle virtually any terrain, and simply to hover over those it can't with its vertical thrust system. It is also extrodinarily resistant to enemy fire of pretty much all shapes and sizes. However, as you can see, its size is also a weakness. We could only manage to bring twenty-eight of them with us, even with all these gigantic air transports. Consequently, for all their firepower, we can only deploy them over so many areas. We've also brought a regiment of Stahlkörpe assault suits. For all intents and purposes, treat them as highly-mobile and heavily-armed infantry. They should be able to defeat pretty much any man-portable weapon system and a number of light-armored vehicles, but it would be erroneous to expect them to come out victorious against enemy main battle tanks. On the other hand, they should perform excellently in an urban environment, where tanks and other armed units cannot use their long-range firepower against them."

The Colonel took a step back and stroked his chin for a bit.

"Perhaps if we combine our Peacemakers into your armored corps, we can position our Stahlkörpes in such places where their abilities can be fully brought out. Perhaps on an unrelated note, we've found that they make fine peacekeepers and civil defense units in the past..."
Kahanistan
22-10-2005, 04:45
General Valens smiled. "General Maximus, our base commander, will be pleased to hear that. First, tell me a little about your assault suits. They appear to be quite formidable, but we are not sure they are within our technology."

The general crammed a large slice of anchovy and garlic pizza down his throat, then opened another beer. "As for our armored corps, they are a mix of wheeled and bipedal fighting machines." He showed Nouls a diagram of an ordinsry wheeled armored fighting vehicle, and a four meter tall two-legged metal beast with two huge guns on top of it.

"Throughout most of the history of the Walker, its greatest strength has been the ability to go where wheeled vehicles cannot, such as near cliffs and in swampy, muddy areas. However, its legs make very tempting targets for enemy fire, and several tons of metal cannot walk on one leg." He showed an MK-88. "The MK-88 Walker is an upgrade from the MK-86. The MK-86 is faster, but has far weaker legs and only two cannons. The MK-88 has three guns, and is much heavier, at sixteen tons to the MK-86's 5.3 tons."

"Both types of Walker see extensive service in our forces, but in a defensive war in an arid nation, we have taken the legs off many of the Walkers and used them as heavy gun emplacements in defended areas. We have also deployed anti-tank mines in areas where enemy armor is likely to travel, like in our cities, which is another reason we won't allow Peacemakers in the cities. However, anything that keeps the enemy out of our cities is good."

"One more thing. Do you have an air force coming in? If so, we might fight together in battle. I command the 11th Air Force, which will participate in our defense quite soon." General Valens looked over the colonel, awaiting a response.
Bretton
22-10-2005, 07:51
Nouls removed a magneto-optical disk from his shirt pocket and handed it to the General.

"That MO disk contains all the data (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9748368) we usually give to perspective buyers of our assault suits. In a nutshell, consider a Stahlkörpe to be a heavily-reinforced exoskeleton. They are highly mobile, armed with a large-bore assault rifle, and are virtually impregnable to small arms and most HEAT munitions. This allows them to stand up to enemy infantry and light armored vehicles with near impunity. They are vulnerable, however, to large kinetic-kill weapons, such as LOSAT missiles and the primary guns of main battle tanks. The only real advantage that leg infantry have over them is that they're smaller targets."

The Colonel took a moment to adjust his shirt.

"Thus far, they've proved more useful than regular infantry in almost every aspect. Of course, the things are far more expensive, but the Brettonian Army is privileged to be one of the world's most well-funded military bodies, so this is really not so much of a concern."

Nouls produced a bottle from his adjutant.

"Butterscotch schnapps, a favorite among military men in the homeland. Care to sample?"

The adjutant poured the clear liquid into a tall, narrow glass, which the Colonel consumed in short order.

"As to our air corps, at present we have been developing a rather... large... buildup in the area of strategic bombers. One design we have now that is currently being field-tested revolves around a large unit that, in addition to a sizeable payload, extends its versatility by using unmanned drones to fly ahead and bomb specific targets. It's a highly inventive system..."

Anyway, if Militia Enforced State has not replied to my enquiry about his forces having left Kahanistan, on their peace mission, I will take it that they have already left, as this is holding up the RP. Is this OK with you Kahanistan?
By the way Bretton, your Stahlkorpe suit is on the extremes of PMT, and if you intend you use the 'Active Camouflage then it will be considered FT, and thus ignored by us. Without the Active Camo it can work though, as PMT is just acceptable.

By the way Kahanistan, you need to post any losses or destruction that came about as a result of that missile being dropped outside your Capital City, Najaster by a Shazbotdom spacefraft. The post is at the top of page 6 if you can't remember.

OOC: That missile was fired on Quere's capital, not Kahanistan. The only missile I remember being targeted on Kahanistan was that shit-filled "gift package" that never arrived at the naval defenses it was to be targeted on. Yeah, let's assume MES's evacuated all the Kahanistanians they could who want to leave.

IC: The general nodded. "Certainly." He was a bit wobbly already, having had three 40 oz. bottles of beer. "I'd love to have some butterscotch schnapps." He took a drink from the fountain, to wash the beer and pizza from his mouth so he could taste the schnapps.

General Valens turned drunkenly to Colonel Nouls. "Sounds like fun, I've only flown fighters myself. I've been shot down four times and shot down over three hundred aircraft." He pointed to three large bronze medals near his collar. "You get one of these for every hundred planes you get." His normal speech patterns were gone, he wasn't going to be shooting anything down for several hours. "You have any information about those new bombers?"

IC: The defenders at the shoreline waited and waited for the enemy attack. Their air support would be coming in within minutes, hours at most. They were hungry for the blood of murderous Alliance scum. They were not going to let the Ottoman Alliance push them around, trying to extort compensation and highly valuable officers from them. And they were not going to stand by while half the world's nations treated their people like filth, no matter what the enemy weaponry pointed at their country had to say about it.

Well, the Alliance would be crushed by the Imperial Marines and the few righteous nations that allied with Kahanistan in its hour of need. The thick defenses at the shore would see to that.

The Colonel had also begun to become intoxicated as well.

"Well, y'see, the concept is simple. The bomber is, by itself, a stealth in nature. Streamlined form, radar-absorbant construction, all that fun stuff. When conducting low-profile stealth operations, it flies at a medium altitude at subsonic speed. Now, here's the cool part..."

Nouls took another shot of the schnapps.

"To operate in a strategic role, the bomber flies at a much higher speed and altitude. Obviously, since it can't mask its infrared signatue at this speed, it's no longer stealth. Now, as a means of increasing its versatility, not only is the bomber itself packed full of ordnance, it carries a number of drones on its wing pylons. Each one of these drones then has a number of hardpoints for other munitions; missiles, bombs, whatever. The drone itself is also pretty much a giant... whatisit... a cruise missile, yeah. So it fires off its missiles or bombs or whatever and then crashes into a final target. So the single bomber deploys all its drones to gobble up air defenses or bomb targets elsewhere, then goes on to drop its payload on whatever's left."

The Colonel sat down again.

"It's also got some coaxial guns for air defense and stuff. Pretty neat, eh?"

Just one message and Kahanistan's Military would be a ruined mess of twisted metal that couldn't stand under it's own weight. Just one EMP Blast and it would all be over. The Colonel chuckled to himself.

"The real joy of the drone-bomber concept is that we've only got to operate a single type of aircraft to conduct multiple roles. With this, we've-"

Nouls was cut off by his radio.

"Oi... what's this, now?"

He removed it from his belt and activated it with a chirp.

"Nouls. What is it?"

He paused.

"What?! Preposterous! The enemy hasn't even launched any-"

Another pause.

"WHAT?! Put the General on, right now!"

"General? Exactly what the hell is-"

"You can't be serious!"

"...right, you're always serious. But still, you're talking about a full-scale war!"

"But-"

"I see... Very well. I'll relay the orders to the rest of the force."

"Of course."

"I am not drunk!"

"All right, all right, I'm putting out the order right now."

"Right. Good-day, sir!"

Nouls replaced his radio, visably shaken.

"Sorry, General, we're going to have to cut our engagement short. Supreme Command has just informed me that the Alliance appears to be taking some kind of offensive action. Normally, I would look further into it, but orders are orders. More forces are en-route, it seems..."

The Colonel buttoned his shirt again.

"Our transports will re-launch to clear the airstrip. We'll coordinate with you further once I'm aboard the command unit."

Nouls flagged his adjustant and the two made haste from the Al-Qamar command center.

"Sir, what has occurred...?"

The adjutant asked.

"Supreme Command seems to think that there's going to be a full-scale war on our hands. I've been ordered to scramble the transports from the airstrip to clear the way for additional forces... they haven't given me exact numbers."

The Colonel frowned.

"We're also supposed to begin disseminating the Peacemakers to strategic points. The Defense Ministry said the port is mined all to hell, but I doubt that the Alliance wouldn't try sending its boats around to cause hell in the vicinity."

"Sir, you don't supposed they'd... you know, drop a nuke on us?"

"Well..."

The Colonel took a breath.

"I guess we'd have to rely on our allies in the case of a strategic arms exchange."

The two exited the command center. An assault suit saluted.

"Sergeant."

"Sir!"

"My cover."

The assault suit paused for a moment, then quickly handed the Colonel's beret to him. Nouls placed it on his head, then took his radio again.

"Men! Supreme Command has ordered we begin mobilization! All transports are to be taxied to the airstrip and return to friendly territory! Peacemakers, you are to commence moving to your designated strategic locations! Escort assault suits, that goes for you as well. All other powered infantry are to proceed to their pre-designated locations. Move like you've got a purpose!!"

Across the airbase, the Peacemakers began moving. A shrill whine penetrated the air as massive dust clouds were kicked up beneath them. Slowly, unbelievably, the gigantic spidery tanks began rising off the ground as if being lifted by a higher power. Their six legs folded inward, the feet coming together in a single point at the bottom. As the wind pressure increased, the gargantuan Peacemakers began moving off the base premesis, assault suits trailing close behind.

IC:

In the dark and small room deep under the earth within the SCCC, the bank of monitors buzzed and whirred, like it did all the time. The decorated General again stood at his post, standing behind the two Colonel's working the monitors.

The General held a piece of paper in his hands. He spoke, "Men, listen up. We have received official confirmation to attack from the Shazbotdom leadership. You may begin the attack."

The two officers nodded silently before removing keys from the necks and inserting them into a central console. A red light blinked on the wall of the room. One of the Colonel's turned to the General who nodded reassuringly.

Each man typed a few commands into his console before depressing 'ACTIVATE' buttons below the monitor screens. The red light blinked twice and then turned blue. It would stay that way throughout the EMP attack, until all 50 satellites had finished their work over Kahanistan.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silently in the vaccuum of space the cluster of satellites did their work. They had targeted every major city and open military base in Kahanistan. Soon not a single electric circuit would be left working. The nation would be plunged into a complete blackout, chaos would ensue as electricity and heat grids collapsed, food went bad and banks collapsed. Kahanistan was back in the dark ages.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

At McClellan AFB in the Victories colony 10 SR-71D Blackbird's took off in a continuous roar of supersonic jet engines. Each were armed with 'THOR' Anti-Satellite rockets, ready to blast any enemy satellite from space, lest they should retalliate with nuclear weapons from that expanse.

At Hood AFB in Hirgizstan the largest contingent of bomber, escort and fighter aircraft seen activated in a long while were being readied. 500 B-52H Stratofortress' lined up off the unreally huge airfield. Nearby, at the adjacent airfield, 200 F-104X Starfighter and and 300 F/A-22A Raptor aircraft were being armed with A-A and A-G Missiles, ready to escort the gigantic B-52's once the launched.

At another part of the AFB, behind a forest of thick pine trees sat a number of expansive hangars, connected to an equally expansive runway. Two planes sat outside two of the hangars. Both, on far inspection looked like B-52's. However, they were not. Both were the mysterious AL-52 Dragon. A heavily modified B-52H, complete with only a crew of 2 men or women, and perhaps one of the most sophisticated computer suites in the entire Commonwealth. It had been given the nickname 'Dragon' because it supposedly breathed 'fire' from underneath the pointed noise cone. It was actually a superconduced Laser, capable of shooting down ICBM's, AA Missiles, or even blowing up ground targets. This enigma of an aircraft would proudly accompany the B-52's, it would be their guardian angel.

Ministry of Defense

President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if and Major General Iosif Malakov were discussing the possible defenses of the nation.

"Mr. President, if the 17th Armored moves into Al-Bahr, we may stand a chance against the invaders."

"Yeah, and blow us all to hell with our own anti-armor mines."

Suddenly, the lights went out. A power failure? thought the President. But our nation hasn't had a blackout in 15 years, since the terrorist bombing of the old nuclear plant.

"What the hell is going on here?" asked Malakov.

"Not sure," said al-Za'if. "Probably an EMP. Damn, why now? Go check the emergency generator, see if it's working."

The two men went to the basement.

"Emergency generator is active, but only functioning at 35% of optimal power. What is going on here?" asked the President. "I'll issue a statement to the international community."

Malakov frowned. "I'll see if I can raise the National Police on the cell. We can't have any riots breaking out here like we did after Shazbotdom claimed that we killed 200 children and our own media published it without checking the facts. Damn. Cell's not working."

They did not know, but darkness had descended over all of Kahanistan. The military, government, housing projects, and essential services like banks, hospitals, police and emergency responders had emergency generators that only activated after the EMP, with various degrees of shielding on them. They produced anywere from 10% to 50% of the power they needed. A few civilians, but hardly all of them, had generators too, but very few were shielded.

President al-Za'if issued two official statements, one to those of his people who still could get TV, radio, or Internet, or read the news, the other to the international community.

Governmental Statement
From: President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if
To: The people of Kahanistan and allied nations

Citizens of Kahanistan, we are suffering from the first blackout in fifteen years. Because of the timing of this blackout, the activities of the Ottoman Alliance are strongly suspected. But they may not realize that land mines, guns, bombs, and other weapons still work. We will defend our nation to the bitter end.

Currently, the National Police and Republic Guards are working to identify the cause of the damage to our infrastructure, and repair it as best we can. I ask the people of Kahanistan to remain calm, panic never solved anything.

We will be receiving aid from the international community in these trying times. I ask you to stay in your homes and businesses. Non-perishable foodstuffs will be distributed by the National Police, in the poorest areas first.

Governmental Statement
From: Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if, President of the Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan
To: The International Community

People of the world, the despicable Ottoman Alliance has shown its true colors as a terrorist and fanatical organization of fascists and fascist-enablers, who seek to punish Kahanistan for its aid to the poor and enslaved. I call on all nations with right-thinking governments to join me and purge the Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan from the murderous and bloodthirsty Ottoman pigs, who even now have launched a nuclear attack on our beloved nation.

I must admit that things do not look good. Production of new weapons, machines, and other items is slowed significantly, we believe by about 80%. We plan to hold our defenses and appeal to the international community for aid. We estimate that we can hold out for about four months without aid, but at the end of that time our nation will rapidly fall unless we receive help.

The Ottoman Alliance, whose propaganda refers to us as a terrorist nation, seeks to destroy us not because we support the funding of terrorism against them, which we do not, but because we are a democracy and we believe that you, the citizens of the world, deserve the same freedoms and rights that the people of Kahanistan enjoy.

In conclusion, I must ask the international community to open a hand to Kahanistan in its hour of need.

"COMMONWEALTH OF HIRGIZSTAN (COH)

STATEMENT BY THE DEFENCE AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENTS

To The International Community:

We intend, here, to respond to a recent statement made by the terrorist nation of Kahanistan, in which a number of false claims were laid out.

These include referring to the Ottoman Alliance as terrorists and painting a peaceful and democratic alliance as declaring war on an, apparently, 'innocent' nation. However, what their Government has failed to note is that the first strike was made by Kahanistan, in the form of nuclear missiles. No fewer than six nuclear missiles were fired at Shazbotdom, who had stepped in to support an ally, Jenrak, who was being wrongfully invaded by Kahanistani forces.

Without warning these missiles were fired simply because Kahanistan wrongly believed Shazbotdom was planning to invade, which they were not at that time. The missiles have killed tens of thousands of people, and the fallout from the missiles will surely claim thousands more in years to come. However, the worst tradgedy was that 200 Elementary School children were killed in one of the blasts, despite evidence that the children were visiting the military base.

The Ottoman Alliance has a charter, like all great alliances, and it states that if one nation in the Alliance is wrongfully attacked by an aggressor, then the Alliance has a right to become involved to resolve the matter. We are not on a mission to destroy or even invade Kahanistan, the Alliance simply wants justice to be done, in that Kahanistan hands over ALL those responsible for the nuclear attacks, and those responsible for the murder of the General that ordered the attacks, be handed over to Shazbotdom to stand fair trial.

Kahanistan refused to do this at an earlier peace conference, instead they used an agent to murder the General responsible, rather than simply hand him over to stand trial. Kahanistan still has a chance to do the right thing, and if they will not answer to talking, then they will have to answer to force. As soon as ALL those responsible are handed over, military operations against Kahanistan will stop.

They have, furthermore, made the claim that this nation has attacked them with 'nuclear' weapons, when in fact we have simply struck them with an EMP blanket. These false implications will not stand, and force will be brought to bear by the OA until Kahanistan hands over the criminals.

END OF STATEMENT

"Kicker Six, this Foxtrot Alpha. Enemy infastructure neutralized, we are inbound to the target." The carrier-based fighter/bombers were roaring through the skies to their targets, various targets necessary for a quick response by the defending forces. These included bridges, roadways, and other such targets.

The planes flew in low and fast, staying below radar detection. It wasn't known if the Hirgizstani EMP attack had wiped out anti-air installations as well, and the pilots saw no point in taking that risk. Any SAMs or other installations would be destroyed as well.

Soon the planes were in Kahanistani airspace, and went alert for any threats. Keeping their eyes peeled, they head on to their targets.

***

The Royal Navy had requested Air Force help in dropping in some elements of the Airborne Divisions, and the RAF had gleefully complied. Now, several large transport planes were flying over the Navy's forces, and would be over Kahanistan in a few minutes. On the planes, the platoon leaders of the 44th Parachute Battallion were prepping the men, giving them pep-talks and last minute briefings.

The 44th consisted of about 800 combat troops, and these men would jump in behind enemy lines and generally wreak havoc in preparation for the main OA assault. The brass onboard the the command dreadnaught had been sure to broadcast the Kahanistani government's statements to all the troops, and now just about every Royal soldier was pissed off at being called terrorists for defending their allies.

The planes crossed into Kahanistani airspace a few minutes after the final waves of the fighter/bombers, and began to descend to jump altitude. The bay doors of the planes opened, and eight hundred men took to the sky, jumping out of the plane.

***

Half an hour later, the 44th was regrouping itself on the ground. No contact had been made as of yet, but everyone knew that could change at any time. Five men had died in landing accidents or parachute malfunctions, and the battalion's leader, Major Joshua Barton, had no intention of losing more.

Three fighter jets zoomed into the Shazbotdom airspace. They were flying low to be undetected (sorry if you have super-radars), headed for a classified location. They were flying over mountains and forests, were there was no civilization.

OOC:If you want to shoot all three down and god-mod in my opinion, I'll ignore some of the things you do to me or shoot down all missles and stuff. 6 MISSLES. "Troops. At least 200. The clearing is right in front of them."
Sio smiled. "Good." He motioned for the 20 Spartans to take up positions on their end of the clearing. They waited until many of the enemy troops were in the clearing, then fired. Most of the troops had their AK-47's and -50's. But a few had rocket launchers. Those were sent to 'make more room in the forest'.

General Marcellus Valens, still somewhat drunk from his meeting with the Brettonian Colonel, climbed into his MH-181 fighter. He could fly better drunk than most could sober, but to set an example for his troops, he had his gunner take the stick while he manned the guns. The disruptor cannons of the MH-181 were mostly fried, but some of them were operational still. Most had been replaced with older .50-cal machine guns, loaded with jacketed hollow points, and 100mm cannons loaded with high explosive shells. Some elements of the Air Force had anticipated an EMP, having used nuclear weapons in the past and expected a nuclear attack in retaliation. The Kahanistanian Air Force, an arm of the Republic Guards, took off from Al-Qamar Air Force Base and the civilian airports in Najaster and At Tahrir.

They were ordered to patrol the skies. With the infrastructure severely damaged, it was assumed that the enemy would attack in bombers. Valens' force, the 11th Air Force, was to defend the homeland. The 4th Air Force was sent out to see if the enemy would invade by sea. Kahanistan could ill afford to lose its air force, so the 4th was ordered not to intensely engage, merely fire on any approaching enemy warships, break off, and report to the Air Force base.

The countryside and mountains were being filled with anti-aircraft cannons. The cities had far fewer, not wanting to be accused of putting military assets so close to civilians that the civilians were effectively used as human shields. What manner of hypocrite risks war over human rights issues and uses its citizens as pawns?

The government of Kahanistan sent a letter to Axis Nova.

It doesn't matter what orbit they were in, as they'd need to be WITHIN THE ATMOSPHERE for the EMP to do anything but fry other satellites.

My antisatellite missiles work by lofting a cloud of ball bearings into the paths of the satellites they're targeting, turning it into a piece of junk when the ball bearings hit. Ball bearings are cheap, easy to produce, and have impressive kinetic impact at orbital velocities.

2-3 missiles were launched per satellite of yours.

Also my SDI system is global (as per previous RPs where I have described it in detail) so it can basically do it's thing anywhere. Instead of spending stupid amounts of cash on maintaining a large arsenal of strategic nuclear weapons, I instead poured an equivalent amount of cash into an SDI system.

SAAMDS is the same idea, it stands for Space Altitude Area Missile Defense System. 90% of COH Satellites are equipped with the lasers used in the main SAAMDS sats, but the lesser satellites can only fire four pulses of laser before being re-charged for a while. However, the SAAMDS satellite, of which there is one, soon to be two, above Kahanistan, can target multiple targets and burn through the missiles engine core, sending into a downward spin.

I'll RP for 150 Missiles.

IC:

The giant SAAMDS satellite began to open out like some sort of mechanical flower, revealing a complex mirror system, centralised around a huge core of chrome-like metal, which seemed to be 'buzzing' with electricity.

Suddenly ten burst of laser light shot out from the mirroring system, piercing down into space, seemingly connected to the satellite for a few seconds. Below the field of 50 EMP satellites the ten front running satellites began to tear apart and tumble backward, knocking a few more missiles out behind them as they tumbled away into the silent vaccuum.

The SAAMDS satellite fire again, knocking five more missiles out of the fray. The EMP satellites began to open their DSAAMDS (D is for Defensive) arrays, sending more acute lines of laser light into the oncoming mass of missiles.

Suddenly two EMP satellites were shredded in an instant as three of the ball-bearing carrying missiles exploded, showering the surrounding EMP sats with debris. The silent explosion was held in the vacuum, noiseless. The SAAMDS sat fired once more, ten more missiles fell away, some only miles from their targets. Three more EMP satellites were struck as the ball bearings tore their wings to pieces, sending them on an incontrollable path toward earth.

More EMP satellites fired their DSAAMDS systems, forcing the missiles to careen off their paths, smacking others out of their trajectorys, but yet more fired up behind them. The SAAMDS array fire again, ten more bolts of laser light lancing out between the EMP satellites, burning up the missiles, sending plates of protective material flying off into space, exposing the engine cores, forcing them to combust and lurch off on crazy trajectories. Two more EMP satellites succumbed to missile blasts and began to fall from their orbit.

The higher EMP satellites fire their second laser beams, causing yet more of the ungainly missiles to fall away. The SAAMDS array fire again, ten more sharp light bolts lancing through space to meet their targets and cause them to fly off into space like giant insects with no sense of direction.

For a minute or more nothing happend, no more silent explosions, no more laser light. Just nothing. The first 70 missiles had claimed seven satellites and damaged three more.

The mirror array on the SAAMDS sattellite turned around slowly, as it did to reposition itself before firing again, longer lances of light this time, deep through space. The next wave of missiles took the hits to their forerunners, ten of them carooned off into space, taking five more with them as they smashed and bumped into each other. The remaining 30 undamaged EMP satellites fired another volley, a massive light show of thirty super-concentrated laser heat directly into the field of oncomming destruction. The missiles fell away silently.

Before the SAAMDS unit could fire again three of the missiles reached their target, blasting four EMP satellites out of their orbit. The satellites fell straight down, causing three more missiles to explode as they smashed into their frontal cones, causing a shower of metal, sent out into the deep vacuum, littered now with debris.

The SAAMDS unit fired once more, heating up the engines of ten more vicious missiles, causing them to spin erratically away. The EMP's fired their DSAAMDS for the last time as yet another two satellites were claimed.

Then there was silence. What was left was falling debris, falling tiles, falling satellites and falling missiles, all plunging down toward earth, toward Kahanistan, as a would be ironic 'f-u' for what had just happend. The SAAMDS unit closed up and the EMP satellites did likewise, beginning to move out of their close orbit.

Losses: 12 EMP Satellites destroyed, 6 damaged.

OOC: Next time, send less missiles, not because its unfair or anything, just because i think it was kinda boring to write that, sorta repeated itself over and over. Less missiles, like maybe 60 or so, would have been more exciting and less repetetive. But, not up to me.

Kahanistan, since those sats were in orbit over your nation, you've got a helluva lot of incoming debris. Might do some damage.

OOC: Don't forget that the ball bearings will remain in those general orbits for a while (probably a few days)

IC: As a followup to the last attack, an X-ray laser parasite bomb detonates, the nuclear powered weapon sending thousands of X-ray laser pulses in every direction like a gigantic hedgehog, hopefully clearing everything else out as well. In case that proves to be insufficient, thrusters fire on a few mirror satellites further out, to act as relays for free-electron lasers further along in orbit.

OOC: Ain't no way I'm having 50 satellites destroyed, especially by something that sounds a little MT. Lasers have to be generated, I don't think they can be emitted by a nuclear explosion. X-Ray laser pulses are a medical thing, best make that more clear. For info the SAAMDS satellite isn't as flimsy as a conventional satellite, it can take hits from missiles and still work to near max efficiency. Its made of dense DU and a Tungsten (strongest of the worldy metals) honeycomb. Because of its size it also operates at the highest possible orbit, as it sometimes needs to deflect incoming laser light from halfway round the world.

By the way, Axis Nova, are you happy in protecting a terrorist nation, one that nuked Shazbotdom as a knee-jerk, first strike option and then chose to murder those responsible, rather than letting them stand trial? I hope that ain't what you stand for. I'd read the links on PG1 to get a clearer picture if you haven't already.

This is my last RP for today, back tomorrow afternoon.

The superconducted lasers from the parasite bombs cut through the wings of three EMP satellites, turning them into floating hulks. The returning beams of energy take out a further EMP satellite and damage another one.

IC:The leader of the Spartans, then the rest, heard a rustle, or some sound. They crouched from instinct, but more training. Sio, the leader of the group, motioned for silence then for one man to go ahead and see who or what it was. About 4, 5 minutes later, he came back.
"Troops. Must be 200," he said.
Sio nodded. "Did you reconize them?"
"Doesn't look like allies, and some look Hirgizstanian(sp?). The clearing is in front of us and them."
Sio nodded, and motioned for the troops to take up positions at their end of the clearing. 7 on one side, 7 on the other. 2 men had Vodnik (I think it is) rocket launchers and launched rockets to make the clearing bigger, so to speak. The commander and the remaining three were watching them, shooting anyone who came through the trees.

OOC:Anything else? I was a little busy, but tell me if oyu need anything else to be fixed.

OOC: The parasite bomb sat is something the US tested during the Cold War but didn't deploy cause of treaties preventing the use of nuclear weapons in space. Basically you surround a nuclear warhead with thousands of glass tubes, and when it detonates the glass tubes focus the X-rays (in the milliseconds before they're destroyed) into laser beams. It basically sends out a huge spray of x-ray laser beams in every direction that tend to perforate whatever they hit rather handily. Perfect for SDI purposes on NS since they can nail so many targets at once. They make up a large portion of my SDI network.

Though if you want to get technical, a laser that uses x-rays instead of light is a xaser, not a laser :)

Maybe. Or maybe they'll burn up in the earth's atmosphere as they fall. But probably not all of them.

IC:

Captain Alexandra M. Federova had just arrived back from training some soldiers a day earlier. She was suspicious about the conspiracy theories surrounding the death of her mentor, General al-Aziz, and of the claims that he was a war criminal or child-killer, or many of the various other accusations that had been leveled against him.

As she finished putting on her uniform, she heard a loud CRASH outside her apartment building. Fearing an air raid, she hurried down the stairwells from the 73rd floor down to the bottom. She was a fast runner, an officer in the Kahanistan Navy, and kept fit enough to hold her own in combat. She arrived at the bottom of the apartment building and found that a huge satellite had crashed, or rather a piece of one, right in her backyard. Or, more accurately, the closest thing she had to one, living in Najaster. The satellite had crashed in the middle of the street at the corner of 14th Street and 9th Avenue, right next to her apartment building.

She called the Mukhabarat al-Kahanistan, literally the Kahanistan Intelligence. She knew little of Kahanistan satellites, but she knew that this was definitely not of Kahanistan origin. Luckily, she had just come back to Kahanistan so her cell wasn't fried by the EMP. They told her that they had received several reports of satellite pieces falling, but they were not yet able to reconstruct one from the parts that had come down, including one that fell on a base sub-commander and killed her, and one that had crushed a doghouse in western Al-Qamar. They were hopeful that this new satellite piece might help them to reconstruct a satellite of the type that was falling down all over them. Perhaps they could even upgrade their own satellites, or deelop superior EMP shielding.

Within minutes of her call, a black-uniformed intelligence officer arrived. "Captain Federova, we will have to take this satellite piece. We need it for military purposes." She looked at the officer. "Of course, you thought I wanted it as a souvenir? It won't even fit in my apartment." He did not reply, simply ordered his crew to stuff the satellite into his Everhaul 2195 truck and take it to the base.

Captain Federova sat down under her apartment building, deep in thought. What happened here? All this secrecy... First my mentor is killed by unknown people, none of the theories about his death add up, and now the government is acting really secretive about these crashes. People are not going to buy the standard cover story of a crashed news satellite. The government is hiding something, I know that much. She had always hated the secrecy of her line of work. First, she wanted to get to the bottom of the death of General al-Aziz. She knew that if she asked too many questions and got too close to the wrong kind of people she could be killed. He must have stumbled onto something that the government didn't want him to know. But that's preposterous, he had the highest clearance, what would they hide from him? Maybe he was involved in something shady...?

She didn't like that thought. She had always liked him, ever since he had taken her under his wing when they served together in the fleet. She didn't want to think he could be shady enough to get himself killed. But what if the truth is what I least want to believe? If I find the killer and he is justified, that al-Aziz was up to something shady... what do I do then?

Captain Federova called a shuttlebus to take her to the naval base at Al-Bahr. She needed to get back to duty. If there were answers to the general's death, or about the satellite crashes, she wanted to know.

At the base, she found out everything she needed to know about the crashes. An ally had shot down enemy satellites over Kahanistan. Most had burned up in orbit, but Intel was hoping to piece one together to find out what they were.

Now the only thing weighing on her mind was the General's death...

"EletroMagnetic-Pulse? I can safely say I didn't see that coming..."

The Colonel looked over the readouts from within his Peacemaker command unit.

"The Kahanistanis got whacked pretty hard... well, we'll have to carry on until they've gotten their stuff in order again. Navigator!"

The officer turned to him.

"Sir?"

"As soon as an operational satellite comes over, give us something to shoot at. Tactics 101 says to go in once you've blinded your enemy."

"On it, sir."

Several minutes passed.

"Hello! We've got a landing to the North!"

"Where?"

"Vicinity of the naval base, it seems."

"Anything in range?"

"Checking now..."

The Colonel lamented he could not light a cigar within the Peacemaker's womb.

"Hmm... There we go. Unit 11, 12, and 13 are within bombardment range."

"Fabulous. Have them set down and commence bombardment. Show them the power of... magnets. I guess."

"That would be correct, sir. I'm transmitting now."

"Have our group and Unit 4, 5, and 6 continue on until we're within range of that surface fleet. Fleets. Naval group. Whatever. I imagine they'll spot us before long, so make sure the Countermeasure AI is ready to go."

"Willdo, sir."

---

Further north, three Peacemakers and their escort assault suits began slowing down. Taking up a relatively flat expanse of ground, the Peacemakers came to a halt and hovered for a few moments. Their legs spread out and toes extended as the vertical thrust array's output lowered. The Peacemakers slowly came to the ground, their feet pressing almost two meters into the soil. The Stahlkörpes took up positions around the three gargantuan legged tanks. A whirring of gigantic servo-motors announced as the Peacemakers begn rotating their tramendous railguns forward. They came to a stop about fifteen seconds later, having made a complete 180-degree roatation. Clamps slammed shut, preventing further movement. Immediately, clouds of coolant began issuing forth from the vents around the base of the barrel. A bit of electrical discharge danced across the length of the barrel as many thousands of volts began building up inside the railcar-sized capacitors. A faint bluish-white glow began issuing from within the barrel. A loud humming noise began issuing from within the Peacemakers' armored carapaces, growing even louder as the electrical discharges became larger and more frequent. Eventually, particles of dust and sand, attracted by the fierce electrostatic buildup, began sticking to the sides of the barrel. Suddenly, the coolant flow stopped. Moments later, a sound comparable to a dictionary being dropped on a table, but many times louder, echoed across the surrounding landscape. For an instant, a red, almost translucent projectile was visable, and then it was gone. A massive cloud of coolant blasted forth from ports all over the barrel. Some moments later, a thin vapor trail briefly appeared, then it too vanished. Each Peacemaker remained silent for a moment, then the clamps came undone and the turrets re-aligned by a matter of millimeters. The clamps closed, and the process began again, prepping another battery of 78-cm slugs about to be sent towards Malkyer landing force at nearly 11,000 meters-per-second.

--- Elsewhere ---

A whole flock of heavy-lift transports were underway for Kahanistan, bearing all varieties of cargo. More Peacemakers, numerous older A4G Partisan (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=450430) tanks, more assault suits, supply and logistics units, and so forth. It also brought a new command unit with it as well.

"They dropped a nuclear device on us! A NUCLEAR DEVICE!"
"Hold it a moment! We don't know for sure if it was or was not a nonconventional object."
"Bullshit it wasn't! I've got all my top analysts on this, it was a nuclear device! Something deployed from orbit!"
"Can we trust these findings?"
"I'd rather not force Axis Nova to defend us from a strategic weapons exchange..."
"It would not bode well for the people."
"All of you, shut it! The fact is we've had a nuclear device dropped on us, and I don't care what its output was. They've given a tactical device, so we'll respond in kind!"
"From the Spiders?"
"They do have nuclear slugs, along with the usual ones, right?"
"Well, yes, but only as a result of standard operational policy."
"Then do it!"
"We may regret this..."
"History only remembers the victor, and the details can get swept under the carpet for all I care!"
"Very well."
"Contact the expeditionary force commander at once and instruct him to fire off one of his nonconventional slugs at... a target of opportunity."

The 44th had already begun its dispersal when the first projectiles hit. Several bodies flew into the air as the ground literally exploded under them. The soldiers still in the Drop Zone's vicinty quickly dropped to the ground, scanning the surrounding area, rifles ready.

"What the fuck was that?"

Captain James Brady shook his head to get rid of the dirt that had settled after the explosion. "Christ knows, Lucas, Christ knows. I hope it doesn't happen again."

A second later, the radio chirped. "This is Major Barton. Bug out, fellas. We don't know what the hell that was, and we sure as shit don't want to be around if it shoots at us again. Battalion is to get out of the DZ and commence with the dispersal as usual. The RAF'll clear out the buggers that shot us. Over and out."

Captain Brady nodded. "Sergeant Fields, disperse the company."

Fields nodded, and shouted the appropriate orders. In the space of five minutes, the Drop Zone was clear, and the next enemy barrage hit only empity dirt and trees.

***

Roger that. Unknown hostiles on scope. These mothers take a while to shoot, let's catch 'em with their knickers down."

The RAF squadron flew in to the estimated position of the enemy...things. Whatever they were, the fighter jocks would kill them. The planes scanned aggressively with radar until the enemy was detected, and from far above the enemy fired of vollies of missiles. Satisfied, they turned and headed back for the carriers.

OOC: Bretton, I wasn't sure how to respond to your Peacemakers, as they seem a little...advanced for MT. Basically I treated them like artillery; if this was incorrect send me a TG.
Bretton

OOC: TG sent. Also, I would think it would be difficult to disembark a camp when facing projectiles moving at speeds in excess of 11,000-meters-per-second. The joys of having a railgun with an 87-meter-long barrel, y'see.

Onboard the Peacemakers, the Countermeasure AI went into action.

The quantum computer processed this train-of-thought in an instant. The railguns ceased charging, and began returning to their default positions. On the Peacemakers' backs, vertical-launch cells fired off a number of sausage-shaped objects, each of which broadcast an additional radar signature similar to the Peacemaker, effectively creating thirty possible targets. Next, a fullisade of canisters were ejected from the antipersonnell ports. These exploded almost instantly, filling the vicinity with thousands of strips of slowly-falling magnetic chaff. Finally, a comprehensive radar-jamming array went into action, returning mostly static.

All done within four seconds. The assault suits had just begun diving for cover at the radar-lock signal from the Peacemakers, and the spidery tanks had already deployed a full spectrum of their passive defenses.

The outermost Peacemaker's eyes became a sublte bluish color, indicating they had switched to a sonic viewing mode. Of the missile fullisade launched against them, four would still strike, either by dumb luck or persistent tracking systems. The Countermeasure AI took over again; as the railgun swung back into storage position, the forward-mounted rotary vulcan guns, antiaircraft gun turret, and right-side autocannons swung to face their targets. Moments later the missiles had reached intercept range, and the barrage commenced. The self-propelled rounds began lighting up the surrounding area, each leaving a tiny smoke trail behind it. After a few moments, a series of explosions in the distance presented themselves. The guns ceased firing. Shortly thereafter, the remaining missiles sailed by, a few of which struck the ground not 100 meters from a Peacemaker's foot.

Onboard the manned command unit, the crew looked over the results.

"Well... congradulations, gentlemen. We've now got a combat-tested unit."

"Sir, a suggestion, if I may?"

"Shoot."

"Let's tell the Countermeasure unit to accept projectiles in a wider range of impact to be regarded as threats. That one missile was a tad too close."

The captain shrugged.

"We'll submit it to the depot once we're done here."

"Righto, then..."

"In any case, they're clearly on to us. We'll fire a third and fourth fullisade, then close to within a hundred kilometers before making further action. Get me an updated satellite view!"

IC:

"Haven't you got us a firing solution yet?"

Colonel Nouls demanded, becoming agitated.

"We're having difficulty acquiring satellite uplink... possibly a result of the EM-Pulse."

"Damn Overtechnology, this isn't the way things should be..."

"Colonel, sir, with all due respect, we're in a three-hundred-foot-tall spider."

"...I suppose you have a point."

Nouls leaned back in his chair, stroking his chin. A few minutes later he continued.

"Communications, find us an operational radio signal in Najaster. I'm sure someone in there had a shielded facility."

"On it, sir."

Nouls waited for a report.

"Got one."

"What is it?"

"It appears to be from the Presidential palace."

"No good. Find something else."

"I'll see what I can do."

Several more minutes of silence issued, punctuated only by the humming of the immense computer systems.

"Okay, I found another one."

"And?"

"It appears to be a Civil Defense station... instructions for civilians. Bilingual, it seems."

"Hmm... that should do nicely."

Nouls smiled menacingly.

"Sir?"

"Hand me that headset."

"Very well, sir."

The communications officer handed over the headset.

"Record my next statement, but make sure it's not transmitting. Got it?"

The officer nodded, then indicated the handset was recording.

"Attention Ottoman Alliance, this is the Brettonian Army Expeditionary Force. In retaliation for your nuclear attack on Kahanistan, we are preparing a nonconventional strike of our own. Your fleet has six hours to withdraw from its current position and cease your attack against Kahanistan, beginning now. If you do not comply, expect prompt response. Out."

"Colonel!"

One of the technicians exclaimed.

"Silence! Communications, did you get that?"

"Affirmative, sir..."

"Excellent. Defense Systems Operator?"

"Sir?"

"Rig up the Countermeasure AI to manual for a moment."

"Allright, done."

"Good."

Nouls crossed his hands and smirked.

"Hijack that Civil Defense radio station's transmitter and relay the recorded message to the Ottoman fleet. Leave no trace of our subterfuge; it'll merely look like after-effects of the EM pulse to the Civil Defense personnell. Additionally, boost the output to a military frequency. I don't care if it ruins the Civil Defense equipment in the process."

"But, sir, if we do that, it would seem as though we're transmitting from inside the city!"

"Correct."

"But... wouldn't the Alliance fleet try to take out the source?"

"With luck, yes."

"But that means..."

"Exactly. Ottoman bombs fall on Najaster, striking a Civil Defense station and killing dozens of personnell attempting to coordinate relief efforts in the wake of a hostile nuclear attack. Sounds like beautiful front-page material, wouldn't you say?"

"Colonel, with all due respect, that's evil."

Nouls laughed.

"That's not even the half of it. Assuming the Kahanistani air defenses come online between then and now, would not the Ottomans be loathe to bring their aircraft over to make a precision strike?"

"...I suppose..."

"So, do you not believe that they would send, say, a cruise missile? Maybe two?"

"Well, yes, that's logical."

"Quite. Units 1, 2, and 3 should be close enough to... alter... the missile's targeting data. Wouldn't it be a shame if the Ottoman missiles were to strike one of the M.E.S. humanitarian aid transports?"

The lieutenant was aghast.

"Brilliant, I know. You have your orders, make it happen."

IC:

The giant air armada of B-52's and their escorts flew at a level 45,000ft over the COH and Celtayoshi Naval forces cruising through the ocean far below. Their Initial Point was coming up, where the formation would split to fly toward their targets. There were three targets in all, Najaster, At-Tahir and Al-Bahr. 200 B-52s would be bombing Najaster, another 200 would bombard At-Tahir and the remaining 100 would be levelling Al-Bahr. The escorts would also split to join their respective bomber formations.

At the IP the gigantic formation began to split as planes moved out of their larger formation and into smaller ones, although still quite large. 150 F-104X Starfighters and 150 F/A-22A Raptors would escort the bombers on their run over Najaster, while 50 F-104X Starfighters and 100 F/A-22A Raptoirs would accompany the formation over At-Tahrir. The remaining 50 Raptors would escort the 100 B-52's over Al-Bahr. The AL-52 Dragons would fly with the formations over Najaster and At-Tahrir.

Nearer the coast of Kahanistan the bombers descended 1000ft away from their escorts to begin launching their Cruise Missiles. Each B-52 carried two AGM-86C CALCM, two AIM-54C Phoenix Long Range Air-Air Missiles, and 50,000lbs of WCMD 500lb Dumb Iron Bombs (thats 100 Dumb bombs per aircraft). The engines kicked to life in the Cruise Missiles and they dropped and sped away from the 500 B-52's, all creating streaks of white smoke, up and down the coastline of Kahanistan.

(Target Breakdown:
2 AGM-86C CALCM Per Aircraft=

400 targeted at Najaster
400 Targeted at At-Tahrir
200 Targeted at Al-Bahr

Each equipped with a conventional 3000lb Blast warhead)

The B-52s in all formations rose back up to meet their fighter escorts, as they seemingly chased the vapour trails from the cruise missiles, all the way to their targets.

The skies above Najaster were alight with AA Fire and Flak. The Flak was bursting too low to do serious damage to any of the planes, but the AA fire seriously worried the pilots, as the crews were obviously firing blind into the sky. The F-104X Starfighter's, at the head of the formation dived slightly to fire their Maverick A-G Missiles at any SAM and AA sites they could target. The B-52's began their bombing run soon after, some of them being cracked and rocked by AA fire hitting their heavy steal supersctructure. As the bombing run continued two F/A-22A Raptors burst into flames and exploded, the debris falling toward earth, they had been hit. Two more F-104X Starfighters also succumbed to the fire. Najaster was lit up below, as the Cruise Missiles had found their mark. Any military buildups in the city had been targeted, and the Dumb Iron bombs would do the rest of the work.

Over At-Tahrir the AA and Flak was less violent, but still there as the B-52's began their bombing run, as one more Raptor aircraft was blown up.

Over Al-Bahr the skies were clear, until the B-52s drone was heard on the ground, and the AA fire started up, but the B-52's had almost finished and were out of the fray before the AA fire started to heat up.

Now the formations began to turn around and head back out to sea, trying to avoid any areas of populace. No fighter aircraft had been scrambled...yet.

OOC: Ok, big post...phew. Anyway, I wasn't targeting civilians btw, although some civilian buildings might get hit with the Dumb Iron Bombs. The targets were all military fortifications in and around the major cities. Power stations, AA bases etc etc. So post your losses Kahanistan, and then you can scramble fighters i suppose, if thats what you were planning on, and you still have the capabilities after the EMP strike.

"Colonel! Forward group is picking up an enormous concentration of air units moving in from seaward!"

Nouls nearly swallowed the cigar he was pining to light.

"Already?! That was fast... What are we looking at?"

"Strategic bombers with fighter escort, lots of them."

"Dammit... I had not expected the Alliance to respond with such gusto. All right, Plan B. I'm sure they're packing cruise missiles, we'll proceed with those alone."

"Understood, sir."

The Colonel leaned back in his chair.

"Now, all we have to do is wait for the damage reports to come flooding in..."

---

Three Peacemakers, units 1, 2, and 3, were silent witnesses to the monstrous air power that streamed over them. Inside the automated tanks, their combat mainframes went into action. The cruise missiles' tiny jet engines provided unique infrared and sonic signatures; the three Peacemakers were able to lock on to their locations before too many had escaped optimal range. Due to their position, only those headed for Najaster would be able to be tampered with.

The laser communication suite, housed in the radar/lidar dome atop each Peacemaker's turret would be the delivery method. Certain missiles were selected, and the Countermeasure AI began working its magic through a direct laser link.

The missiles' onboard GPS suddenly displayed different data. Bizarrely enough, they had apparently drifted off course. Following their programming to the letter, the selected missiles referenced their position with the GPS satellites and re-acquired their targets. At least, they thought they did. Though the missiles were very much convinced they were flying towards anti-aircraft batteries, hardened bunkers, air strips, and any number of other military targets, they were, in fact, now on a collision course with hospitals, schools, civilian shelters, and high-rise residences. As a final measure, the intercepted data from the Peacemakers' communication laser read that no satellites were within view, and that it should not attempt to further communicate with its guidance systems to make pin-point course corrections.

Satisfied with their works, the three A7V's ceased laser communication and continued moving once again.

---

Sure enough, the Stratofortresses' direct-attack munitions found their targets, wreaking havoc among the Kahanistani military forces within the city. The majority of the cruise missiles did as well, striking antiaircraft batteries, missile emplacements, even individual walkers with the pinpoint accuracy that modern military leaders had come to expect. A select few, however, specifically, those that had been tampered with by the Peacemaker group, flew elsewhere. Civilian buildings, especially those expected to have a high concentration of people, were struck by the three-thousand-pound warheads. The hospitals, the schools, the shelters, the fire stations, police departments, anything that would cause savage destruction of civilian lives and infrastructure. The casualties would be impressive, to say the least.

(OOC: Nah, it's fine, just keep it in mind for next time :) Here be my tech thread: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=386733 )

In Numonica, one of Axis Nova's territories, troops scramble to and fro and vehicles of all shapes and sizes begin rolling onto airfields and onto arships. Some are of the same general type as those used by Bretton, while others are a VTOL design that holds either a cargo compartment, a troop compartment, a rack for four Lion IIs (or other similar sized vehicles), or a single massive Admiral A-1 Mk III.

As the embarkation proceeds, the first transports begin lifting off along with their corvette escorts, tesla turbines powering up with a rising whine that turns into a hurricane shriek as the massive metal behemoths begin slowly shoving themselves down runways (or in the case of the VTOL craft, straight up).

A pair of carriers, half a dozen frigates, eighteen corvettes, and numerous transports slowly form up into a fleet and begin flying west, towards Kahanistan.

In the base itself, four Phaethons rev up their turbojets and boost off the runway, headed ahead of the fleet to perform recon and establish a datalink with the friendly Brettonian forces.

IC:

At McClellan AFB in Victories, the Operations room was, as usual, aglow with monitors and bustling with Air Force Officers. The large central screen showed the various formations on their course out of Kahanistan, and as yet showed no signs of enemy fighters.

In the main office the Officer in Command of McClellan AFB, General Lesley Adams, was in a serious meeting with a number of other officers. They were each looking over HBN Printouts showing the designated targets within Kahanistan. The missile codes were printed in a line down one side of the pages, while their targets were printed down the other, with technical information at the top and bottom of the pages.

All but 15 Missiles had hit their targets, as signified by the green text in which they, and their targets, appeared. However, 15 lines were highlighted in red ink, with the code UNAUTHDIVE beside the target code, giving coordinates for where the missiles struck and where the incoming codes were inserted into the CPU's.

The General sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. The other two Officers laid their sheets back onto the desk. General Adams spoke, "How could this happen? We deliberately do not fire on or near concentrations of civilians, and someone tampers with the missiles so they do. Our intel boys suggest it was an ally of Kahanistan, as they don't believe the Kahanistani's have the capabilities for such a thing after our EMP strike. They mentioned a nations name, 'Bretton', but they ain't sure."

One of the Officers spoke up, "But at least we know it wasn't any COH forces, it couldn't have been, the HBNS would have told us. We have no forces on the ground yet in Kahanistan, and the signal definetly did not come from any of the aircraft."

The General seemed annoyed and pinched his nose, "Yes...I'm aware of that. I'm going to send this in a communication to the Kahanistani's. They may be the enemy, but we're not in this to kill civilians. Collateral damage happens in warfare, some civilians might have been killed tonight, but we sure as hell did not order those attacks on built up, densely populated areas. Even the Kahanistani's should see there were no targets of military value in the areas to stray missiles struck. I'll black out all but the stray missiles info, and some of the successful missile info, to show them the full picture. If you'll excuse me gentlemen."

The two younger Officers got up and left the room, leaving the General to scan and type up the message.

SECURE MILITARY COMMUNICATION

HIRGIZSTANIAN AIR FORCE

To: Kahanistani High Command/Government
From: General L. Adams, McClellan Air Force Base, on the Fuhrer's Orders

Dear Sirs,

We deeply regret having to report that no fewer than fifteen of our AGM-86C CALCM Cruise Missiles struck civilian targets in todays bombing raids on your nation.

I am writing this communication to inform you that it was not our intention to strike these targets. Our Battle Networking System has shown that the missiles were targeted for military targets within the city of Najaster, all of them as far away from the civilian populace as possible. However, the missiles signals were tampered with by an outside source, as our evidence proves. The CPU's were damaged and the target co-ordinates altered.

The BNS was able to pinpoint the exact location of the altering transmissions and they, along with their intended targets (the targets they were supposed to strike before they were tampered with), and their actual targets.

The printout i have enclosed with this communication is a de-classified document from todays raid showing the 15 stray missiles and their information. I have blacked out certain targets, but successful strikes are highlighted in green ink, and I have left some for you to see. Unsuccessful or failed targets are highlighted in red, and the 15 'stray' missiles are highlighted as such.

The Commonwealth of Hirgizstan does not set out to kill civilians in war-time. This is not one of our policies. Despite the fact that we are at war, we feel that it should be made clear that the missiles were tampered with, outside of COH Channels.

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN

From: President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if
To: General Lesley Adams, Hirgizstanian Air Force

The Government of Kahanistan does not set out to kill civilians in hostilities, either. While our intelligence is attempting to verify the authenticity of your transmission, most in the Senate and higher military commands are quite cynical.

Now you know how we felt when we were told that 200 Shazbotdomese school children were killed in our tactical attack on their military bases. Riots broke out in our capital and killed and injured hundreds more. Well, 500,000 civilians are dead or missing now. We have confirmed only 80,000 dead and 35,000 wounded, but those numbers are expected to increase as more dead and wounded are found. Some of those missiles struck high-rise apartment buildings, which often take up entire city blocks and are increasingly common in Kahanistan, due to the size of our nation and its population of over 800 million in an area of roughly 60,000 square kilometers.

If our intelligence verifies your story, we will offer a cease-fire with your forces. If not, then may whatever god your people worship have mercy upon you, for we will have none.

Signed,
President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if
Vice President Abd al-Karim bin Hassan

After the President wrote his letter, he tuned in to Channel 38.

And today, more than one hundred thousand bodies of civilians were recovered from Housing Complex Zeta-6 in Al-Bahr. The Ottoman Alliance missiles are believed to have killed at least 300,000 civilians, based on the number of missing and the proportion of dead to wounded so far. Additionally, another 13,000 military personnel were killed and 11,000 wounded, most of them Republic Guard soldiers on patrol in the cities, awaiting the invasion.

BRETTONIA (AP): After the wholesale slaughter of civilians in the Kahanistani capital of Najaster, Brettonian citizens have turned out en masse to demand action. While the demonstrations have been mostly peaceful, colorful signs such as "DEATH TO OTTOMANS" and "HALLOWEEN MASSACRE" have turned up wherever the demonstrators have gone. When we spoke with people on the ground, it seemed as if even the riot control personnell shared their feelings, and were only present to ensure things did not "get out of hand."

Chancellor Donner, speaking of behalf of the enigmatic 'Fearless Leader,' had this to say:

"Kahanistan has been unfairly blamed for the nuclear incident in Shazbotdom, and now it is quite apparant that the Ottoman Alliance has not struck for tactical means, but as what they would consider 'revenge.'

"I have taken it up with the Supreme Command, who have seen fit to label all participating parties in the Ottoman Alliance as "terrorists" and have recommended further action. I am quite certain that Fearless Leader would want it this way as well.

"To President al-Za'if, I can only express my esteemed sadness at the unfortunate situation which has been dumped in his lap, as it were. Rest assured, once this conflict has passed, Brettonian Civil Protection will do everything in its power to ease the burgeoning humanitarian crisis caused by the use of nuclear and precision-guided munitions against his country. We regret that we cannot begin sending over civilian relief aid at the present for fear they too will be targeted by the Ottoman murder machine.

"As far as the butchers in the Ottoman Alliance are concerned, your day will come."

We have recieved word that the buildup of a substantial Brettonian military force in Kahanistan has begun in what we've been told is an effort to "save the Kahanistani people from further butchery" from the Ottoman forces in the region.

---

"There, you see? It's brilliant."

Colonel Nouls laughed.

"That Kahanistani General went off and nuked Shazbotdom, and now it looks like the Ottomans are the murderers here. I tell you, it's brilliant!"

"Colonel, what if they find out? I mean, what happens when they discover we've dicked around with the guidance systems?"

"Lieutenant, that's the beauty of it. They won't. The only things we tampered with are in billions of tiny bits, probably lodged in the dead Kahanistanis, no less. And if anything suspicious did show up on their tracking devices, we just write it off as an after-effect of the EM-Pulse they so kindly dropped on us. It's flawless."

"I suppose... still, ethically, I don't think this is right."

"Ethically? What are they teaching you boys in the Academy nowadays? Jesus..."

Nouls muttered something incomprehensible.

"Colonel, sir, we've re-established a direct satellite link."

"Well, about time! Our space program had best get its act together."

"Actually, it's... one of Axis Nova's satellites."

"...right, well, it's all the same, yes? Get a broadband stream going on and figure out where the hell the Ottoman fleet is. We've got a few presents to send them."

Al-Qamar airbase was alive once again as a second fleet of Brettonian Army heavy-lift transports began touching down. Finally the great Celtayoshi fleet thought it best to do something. Whilst they awaited the clearance of the mines from the port, a sustained campaign from the air would commence, beginning with supportive bombing for the landed forces, and attacks against any military forces near the port, which would probably eventually be used for landing troops.

The first wave contained 48 CY-X2 aircraft, they took off from three carriers a began their daylight bombing raids. Once over land they would split into groups of three aircraft. In essence they followed up the COH strike from earlier in the day, generally finishing off any targets not destroyed, or some that had reared their ugly heads. This left a total of 16 groups, one such group had been dispatched to help the advancing Malkyer Paratroopers. They were approaching around 20 or so troops, who were most likely of Quere origin, although the satelite photgraphs were very sketchy, and all they new was that through thermal imaging 20 targets were lying in wait. It was a fairly pointless exercise, the target area was peppered by the M61A2 Vulcan cannons located on the sides of each aircraft. With that job done they advanced further down the path to be taken by the paras and began to target any enemy units that may stand in their way.
The Celtayoshi forces also got in contact with the paratroopers, they opened up a secure radio channel to allow their allies to call in an airstrike if needed, particualrly if the target was large and mechanised, that brought a smile to the commandes face when he radioed it through!

It has come to my attention that the Alliance that is helping Kahanistan has called Shazbotdom a "Terrorist Nations". This is to prove that they are wrong about us in so many ways:

First, they kill more than Twelve Thousand civilians and military personell at a shazbotdom military base using Nuclear technology after Shazbotdom did not in any way attack or threaten them. We stated that we would defend an allied nation from any attacks and we were unjustly assaulted.
Second, They launched a second wave of Nuclear Missiles that did more than 800 Million dollars of damage to a second military base. Although no life was lost during this attack, damage is major.

So, as you can see. They are the "Terrorist Nation" and not us. I thank you for your time. May whatever god you believe in smile down upon your nation.

COMMONWEALTH OF HIRGIZSTAN

FOREIGN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

To: Kahanistani Government

Dear Sirs,

By now we know you have received General Adams' evidence showing you that the missiles were tampered with by forces other than the COH or her allies. We know you are considering the evidence presented to you.

We implore your Government not to listen to the propaganda orginating from certain nations. Our own intelligence experts suggest that the pirate transmissions originated, possibly, from a Brettonian Army unit. The co-ordinates of the pirate signal seem to fit with a satellite photo taken of said unit, which was close to the flight path of the bomber force. We do not want to throw names into the fray at this time, but the swift move on the part of Brettonia to condemn the attacks has forced us to provide you with our current state of investigation.

We know, at the moment, that your nation is deeply suffering from the recent attacks, some by our hands. However, we find it even more distressing that so many civilians have died, and could have died at the hands of one of your allies.

In a ceasefire can be brokered between our two nations it would put the COH into a position above the forces on either side, thus with joint diplomacy we may be able to save the lives of countless hundreds of thousands of people in a coming war. The COH wanted to see peace and justice prevail weeks ago at the conference table, but it did not. Perhaps we should try again.

We hope you come to the right conclusion in your investigation, one that hopefully with ease the suffering of the Kahanistani people, which could be helped by a generous donation of aid by the Ottoman Alliance, should a ceasefire come about.

The Malkyer paratroopers had since scattered, or so the satellite imagery provided, anyway. The Peacemaker's AI was not one to question what it sees on satellite, so it responded accordingly. Some time later, all three, along with their assault suit escort, had closed to within 30 kilometers of the now-dispersed paratrooper company. Ceasing their vertical thrust systems, the Peacemakers dropped to their legs and began walking the remainder of the distance, eyes constantly scanning in all flavors of spectrums for enemy contact. The escorting assault suits activated their camouflage; though by no means a perfect disguise, it would help mask their presence, especially with all the sand and soil being kicked up by the enormous Peacemakers.

The first clue of their presence was a progressively louder tudding noise as their feet struck the ground.

Public Statement:
From the Desk of the Emperor:

Now we see the true nature of the enemy. Rather than standing to fight us as men, the opposition sinks to lies and deceit in a vain attempt to gain moral high ground. Today, several cruise missiles launched by our ally, the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan, were tampered with and their targets altered from legitimate military targets to civilian ones, and now tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of Kahanistani citizens are dead.

Regardless of whether our enemies and the world believe that Hirgizstan intentionally attacked these civilians, the Imperial Commonwealth is confident in the truth of our allies' claims to innocence. We know full well that the Ottoman Alliance does not accept terrorist nations, and we know as well that Hirgizstan is a nation of honor, and honorable men do not attack those unable to defend themselves.

I have yet to review the evidence provided by the Hirgizstani government in its entirety, though a logical analysis of fact lends a clear enough picture. I am reluctant to make an accusation, but some things must be said. Knowing Kahanistan's record of attacking civilians, it would not surprise if this government, or one of its allies, were responsible for this act which is nothing short of terrorism.

May God have mercy on the souls of these murderers.

The paratroopers had initially planned to disperse in platoon-level formations, but given the surprise of the multi-legged...things, the plans had altered somewhat, and now squads and maniples were hauling ass out of there. It wouldn't be fair to say the the Commonwealth troops had underestimated their enemy, rather, they'd not expected to see something that looked like it belonged in a Japanese science fiction movie.

One maniple moved through the brush, and nearly stumbled onto a group of Querian soldiers, clustered together. Finally, thought their leader, an enemy we can kill. A series of short clicks on the radio, nothing to alert the enemy, brought two squads to help, moving quickly but quietly to take up positions behind the enemy.

After a another series of clicks confirmed orders, three M249 SAWs opened fire on the Querians, raining fire and lead on them. A volley of rifle grenades followed from one maniple, and the Malkyeri opened fire on the Querians, hoping to end the fight quickly before any of those things showed up.

The rest had spread out ,some gonig back to report. Sio had contacted someone. A few minutes later, with the three men waiting, arty (artillery) rained down on the main body of the Malkyeian troops. After that, 10 men rushed the position, with the others firing at the guns and other weapons.

Over the skies of Najaster, the capital of Kahanistan

Near the Presidential Palace, Kahanistan Republic Guard Air Force fighters soared over the city, part of the 11th Air Force watching over the country to intercept any enemy air attacks.

Inside the palace, the President sat at his desk. He had just finished reading several declarations of the governments of both sides. He still didn't know whether the missiles were really fired by Bretton. He certainly didn't expect that kind of lowbrow behavior from an ally. But it would be unwise to jump to conclusions, the Ottomans might merely want to turn the allies against each other...

Would they kill thousands of allied civilians just to get more international support? General Adams of Hirgizstan seemed sincere enough, but if there was a rogue in the Hirgizstan military she didn't know about... Well, we can't demand the surrender of a rogue with no evidence one even exists. And none of the anti-government terrorist groups here have the capability to mess with incoming missiles, do they?

He looked at one of the declarations calling Kahanistan a terrorist nation and stating that the Ottoman Alliance was democratic and hated terrorists. Hell, Kahanistan was a democracy too. The rioters in Najaster had proven that when they protested against the government when they heard about the nuclear attacks killing children, from Kahanistan's own media no less. They wouldn't have dared to protest in a real "terrorist regime." They would have been gunned down in the streets. As it was, the rioters had fired the first shots at the police.

He then issued a short government statement.

From the desk of the President of Kahanistan

Much has been made in the Kahanistan media of the Ottoman claims that they abhor terrorism, that they are a democratic alliance. Kahanistan is also a democratic state, where the media is free to criticize the government and leadership, sometimes in extremely inflammatory terms. We have had our own struggles with terrorism in the past. We fight to preserve the rights of the people, we believe all citizens of Earth have certain rights which we protect, even at the terrible cost of going to war. Freedom from theocratic oppression and capitalist exploitation are some of those rights, as are freedoms of speech, religion, association, and the press.

We would offer the hand of peace to the Ottoman Alliance. If the offer of peace is accepted, I would personally attend the conference.

One of the enemy snipers fired off a shot at the attacking Malkyeri, and his aim was good. The unfortunate trooper collapsed, but he was avenged by his comrades as they blazed away at the sniper. Subconciously, the Malkyeri acknowledged the sniper's bravery, but they were too close for him to do any good.

Monitor Paul Hatrzman took cover behind a tree, and began taking shots at the Querians. A private ran up to him and pointed to the treeline. Three men, Querians, were headed for them, carrying what looked to be explosives. "No, you don't," muttered Hartzman as he fired three shots in rapid succession. The younger private did not distract the expert-ranked non-com with fire of his own.

Idiots, though Harztman. They're trying to fuck with the baddest soldiers in the Royal Army.

One of the Querians looked to be working a radio, probably calling for reinforcements. A Royal trooper fired a shot at him, but missed and only succeeded in warning the enemy. A few seconds later, the leader of the attack, a sergeant by the name of Gutierrez, heard a distinct whistle. "Christ...GET DOWN!"

Training saved many of the Malkyeri, as they instinctively obeyed their sergeant's command. Two were too slow, however, and were torn apart by sharpnel. Another three were injured, one of them critically. Guiterrez swore from his cover beneath a fallen log. Those idiots called fire on their own position? They must be out of their damned minds, he thought.

The barrage suddenly ceased, and even though Gutierrez knew what was coming, he couldn't stop it. Close to a dozen Querians charged what they thought was the Malkyeri line. SAWs and rifles opened fired on them. As they reached the treeline, Royal troopers crouched behind trees sprung up and swung rifle butts, or stabbed with bayonets. One trooper fell to the enemy covering fire, but none to the head-on assault.

Behind the Querians, the maniple which had discovered their location was waiting for the go-ahead. A single click on the radios told them. Bayonets fixed, they opened up from behind the enemy. Seeing this new attack, Gutierrez switched his radio to an open frequency, so that the Querians could hear him. He spoke rapidly into the headset.

"This is Sergeant Gutierrez of the Royal Army of Malkyer. You can surrender, or you can die. You've got ten seconds."

I'd think an internal investigation, rather than blaming it on Kazahanistan and his allies (read: me) without any prior investigation is a little over-the-top... Anyway.

---

The three A7Vs continued their inexorable march; to their Combat AI, the Malkyer paratroopers must have resembled ants, each one a tiny infrared signature, an outline via echolocation, a proximity movement. The Peacemaker's numerous eyes roated and scanned relentlessly, continually providing the Combat AI with a 360-degree view of the field in whatever spectrums it desired. So far, the humongous armor-piercing self-propelled slugs were doing more good tearing up the Kahanistani landscape than nixing individual soldiers, but given time, they'd eventually find their mark.

On the other hand, the Stahlkörpe assault suits were having a field day. With no main battle tanks for hundreds of miles, the powered armors were nearly unstoppable. Thanks to their electric/reactive armor, even shoulder-fired antitank munitions posed little threat.

Three squads of paratroopers, having finished off a number of Querian infantry, suddenly came face-to-face with two Stahlkörpes as they burst through a treeline. Though their active camouflage was still engaged, their outlines were clearly visible, as were the twigs and brush that had gotten stuck in their joints.

"Hands up! Your war is over."

An amplified voice issued from one of the assault suits. Though it was difficult to see, the sound of bolts cocking was plainly audible.

An Open Statement to the World from the Current President of the Ottoman Alliance

We note with dissatisfaction the allegations being made against the Ottoman Alliance by certain nations involved in this conflict. The good name of the OA shall not be sullied by your blatent propoganda attempts that any respectable nation can see through.

We have the utmost faith that our long standing ally, the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan did nothing inproper and that its attacks were on military targets within the areas mentioned. It is also relevant for us to remind you why this attack came about, Kahanistan's frevelant use of nuclear weaponary made that nation a danger to every other nation on earth.

Bretton you may criticise us for all of enternity. It does not matter. Perhaps if you wail loud enough for several years a tin pot dictatorship in the middle of some god-forsaken jungle may recognise you, but the Ottoman Alliance is stronger than those false pieces of propaganda that you seek to use against us.

The Ottoman Alliance will be victorious in this conflict. We will make the world safer. Our unity is unshakable, as are our aims in this conflict.

On a more personal note, the United States of Independent Hitmen is considering changing its current level of participation in this conflict in support of our Ottoman Alliance friends.

IHS New Jersey, New England Class Fleet Carrier,
Flagship of the IH 9th Fleet

The Fleet was on a course towards Bretton. Currently making Fleet speed of 28 knots it would be several more days before they would come to their patrol distance some 1000km from the nearest Bretton shore.

New Jersey was one of eight huge Fleet Carriers that were in service with the IH Navy and this was her first operational deployment that had a hint of possible action. The floating air base housed some 300 aircraft for this deployment across her three expansive hangar decks.

Even as the rain lashed the flight deck above them, the maintenance crews worked solidly, replacing worn and broken parts that would allow the cocky pilots to master the skies over where-ever they were going. The mechanics really didn't care too much, if it was sunny they would sunbathe on the decks with all the rest of the crew, and if it was snowing they would work in their heated hangar decks whilst the deck crew freezed.

Neither did the aviators who were all attending an Intelligence Briefing on likely threats they would face. Air Force fighters were currently battling through the stormy weather overhead to provide air cover for the Battle Group, a luxury they would only have for another day and a half before they were out of range of the land based F-15s.

The briefer continued with his assessment.

"Little is known about their equipment. We presume it will be as Sci-Fi as this example" he pointed to the projector that showed a satellite picture of one of the machines near the Malkyer Paratroops. There were mutterings from the pilots sitting in their chairs infront of the screen. Typical fighter pilots, they all chewed gum and walked with a swagger usually reserved for cowboy movies.

"Now when we are out of range of land based fighters at about 1530 tomorrow we will begin a standard CAP patrol. Five Raptors and two Hummers from here plus two Hornets and a Hummer from each of the other carriers in the group. Attack plans are being formulated once we have precise information as to the enemy country. Right now we are doing this on the fly, we have no Intel on their coastal regions, if they have any, or sizes of any force we may come up against if we do commit. Right now we are under normal ROE and at DEFCON four. That's all for now Gentlemen. Next briefing is at 1700hours tomorrow."

The Fleet consisted of well over one hundred ships, including nine carriers. It showed the USIH was serious if its friends called for its help in removing Bretton as a player in the world scene.

Sergeant Gutierrez swore viciously. "Chingada pues, como una puta chingada con tu madre! Aw, shit fire." He dropped his weapon. These things didn't look nearly so tough as the big spidery things, but after hearing a radio report that an entire squadron of RAF fighters hadn't been able to kill one of them, he wanted to take no chances with anything that wasn't human.

"Drop 'em, kids. At least we messed up these losers," he said looking toward the Querian dead on the ground. A blast behind him startled the sergeant. He turned, hands still in the air.

On of the squad leaders had fired a signal flare directly at the two armored suits, in order to blind them. In the space of a second, his squad had vanished into the treeline, and scattered. Fieldcraft being what it was in the 44th, Gutierrez figured they wouldn't be found.

After a quick mental headcount, he figured eight men had buggered out, and six had died in total. That left eleven prisoners for these SciFi bastards.

- Brettonian Defense Ministry -

It has come to our attention that hostile foreign powers may be considering a direct invasion of the Fatherland. Let it be known that the Brettonian Army and Navy will defend the Fatherland with all of its strength and power.

For those who wish to see our defenses, we shall spare you the trouble of wasting expensive spy-planes to check in on us.

---

With a J$54.98 trillion Defense Sector, we are among the leading world military powers (OOC: #144 as of June 9, 2005). As of the last time, one Jion is worth US $1.34, giving us an effective military budget of seventy-three trillion dollars.

With this, we have established a premier Fortress Nation of the highest degree.

Our coastline, the majority of which is rocky, cliffs, and unsuitable for shipping of any sort, is lined with fortifications. Railguns, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, close-in defense systems, and so forth, are all neatly housed in camouflaged bunker complexes of hardened concrete, steel, and titanium. We have but a single port, which, while comparitively deep, we must clear of ice for four months every year, owing to our frigid climate. Even this has been spared no quarter: the wide mouth of our harbor has been lined with forts built right out of the harbor bottom. "Concrete battleships" if you will. These also posess many of the same weaponry that the other forts strewn along the coastline do.

If you'd prefer the inland route, you will not be spared either. While the actual border itself is only defended by two layers of steel fencing to keep out miscreants, pushing deeper into the taiga and mountains will find you with yet more camouflaged bunkers of all sizes, again posessing weaponry capable of dealing with virtually any threat.

Our corps of A7V Peacemaker and A4G Partisan legged main battle tanks, situated at Army bases all over Bretton, will also come to meet you.

Our air force, a subsidiary of the Army, shall spare you no quarter. It is primarily an affair of strategic bombers and close-air support, though we do maintain an effective interceptor force.

The Brettonian people will throw you a welcoming party as well. All citizens are armed: a condition of citizenship in Bretton is to be proficient with firearms.

Finally, if you remain undaunted, we posess some of the finest nonconventional arms you could ever hope to witness in action.

Of course, this is all assuming the climate does not kill you first. We are lucky if the temperature gets above 9-10 degrees Celsius in the summer, and if it stays above -15 degrees Celsius in the winter, we are thankful.

With that in mind, please consider the state of operations of the Fatherland before you attempt anything irrational. You will come to regret it, as those who have came before you have as well.

FEARLESS LEADER IS TRUTH!!

The flare gun worked well enough for what it was intended, and buy time it did. The moment it exploded the holographic display before each assault suit's operator immediately darkened, protecting them from blindness. However, it still took several seconds to fully filter out the remaining light, in which time a number of paratroopers had escaped. Shielding their visors with their left hands the assault suits opened fire with their assault rifles one-handed, laying down suppression fire into the treeline.

When the displays had filtered out the remaining harmful light, several paratroopers had been hit; a hit from the 14.5mm cartridge was assumed to be a fatality. A dozen remained.

"...well, that was unexpected."

The first assault suit operator, Sgt. Rawlins, remarked.

"That guy's got good reflexes."

The second, Pvt. Ashburn, noted.

"Whatever. Allright, on your feet. Consider yourselves Prisoners Of War from here on. Private, take care of them."

The sergeant remarked.

"On it."

The private shouldered his heavy assault rifle and withdrew a coil of polymer zip-ties from a utility cabinet set under the armpit of the assault suit's right slave arm, then went about binding the prisoners.

"We're under no obligation to be nice to you,"

The sergeant began, scanning the area.

"But we will anyway, as a point of courtesey."

Elsewhere, additional assault suits that dropped down from below each Peacemaker and proceeded into the brush and foliage, tracking down the fleeing paratroopers through their infrared signatures.

Sio smiled. They had lost men, but they had 2,000 being trained for war back home. He nodded, and then three gun men, on to the left, one to the right, and one to the front started firing into the forest. This happened for only about 3 seconds, though. Sio walked to the captured men. "You guys fight good." He helped them up and bidn them.

Sgt. Rawlins observed the Querian soldiers' appearance.

"About time you guys showed up. Deal with these prisoners, we still have active combatants to chase down."

His amplified voice was clearly audible over the din of sustained small arms fire.

"Private, we're moving out. Let's go."

The second assault suit finished binding the paratrooper, then tossed the remainder of the coil of zipties to the Querian soldiers and stood up, bringing his assault rifle to bear again.

"Let's see..."

Sgt. Rawlins flipped on his infrared view and began looking through the treeline. Tiny heat signatures flickered between the cold purple trees, indictive of the retreating paratroopers.

"Contact. Time to roll."

Both assault suits replaced their magazines and bounded into the forestry at maximum speed, swatting smaller trees aside with their powerful slave arms and dodging around the larger. A fullisade of gunfire erupted from one of the nearby Peacemakers, throwing tons of dirt and splintered trees into the air.

To: All Involved
From: General Craig Theod, Minister of the Marine Corps

We will accept the peace agreement. Although we are scepticla about this peace, it will be an uneasy peace. The people in Shazbotdom still want retribution for the deaths of those named before. So we will only allow this peace if the following is acceptable to the leadership of the Nation of Kahanistan.

All nations affiliated with Kahanistan cease military operations within Kahanistan.
The Nation of Quere withdraws all aircraft that was spotted by SpySat2 outside of Shazbotdom Territorial Waters.
Kahanistan suspends their search for any Nuclear, Biological and Chemical weapons.
Kahanistan allows the Pure Socialist Holy Empier to march a contingent of Troops into it's capital city to arrest any and all military generals for war crimes from the bombings in Shazbotdom.

You have my word that these troops will not fire upon anyone unless they are fired upon first. Their weapons will be ordered as put on saftey during the duration of their stay. They would require landing space at the nearest International Airport for the landing of the aircraft and unloading of the vehicles needed.

If my men do fire upon anyone who is a civilian of Kahanistan, i will turn myself over to Kahanistan for war crimes, but if they fire upon someone that shoots at them first, then it will be an act of defence and we will defend them according to the law within the Pure Socialist Holy Empire.

I hope this is agreeable.

Aboard the MSF Dignity, roughly 3 AC-01's and 2 AC-02's are being loaded up for a mission to arrest anyone involved in the nuclear bombings of Shazbotdom. The orders came from the highest levels of the government and they would be carried out to the letter.

The Government of Kahanistan accepts your offer. By the way, we were never searching for biochem in the first place, we totally avoid biological weapons and only use chemical in extreme cases.

As for arresting any and all generals for war crimes, I must remind you that while you are welcome to land at Najaster International Airport, only one general had anything to do with the bombing and we are still uncertain as to who killed him. We know now it was a Kahanistanian officer, but we don't know if he or she was a 'lone gunman' or not, or employed by a foreign government.

We hope this will be the start of a lasting peace between our two nations.

COMMONWEALTH OF HIRGIZSTAN

FOREIGN AND DEFENSE DEPARTMENTS

To: Participants in the War in Kahanistan

The COH, first of all, wishes to clarify that it has no intention of inavding Brettonia or Axis Nova (OOC: I don't RP with PMT nations, this thread is an exception for the OA). We would also like to remind Brettonia that the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan has a population of over 16 Billion in its Commonwealth and we have currently rank under 50 for Biggest Military and Defense Industry. However, this is beside the point we wish to make.

We accept the peace terms with Kahanistan and Naval Forces will stay in there current position 500 Miles from the coast. We will also be sending diplomats to Najaster. but no military forces. We do however, wish to suggest something. Since the Kahanistani General was killed his murderer has not been found, perhaps the investigation was upset by the war. We suggest that military investigators from Kahanistan and Shazbotdom work together to bring to justice the General's murderer. The COH will also provide investigators if asked to do so.

However, we are now treating Kahanistan as a nation at peace terms with the OA, and we are worried about Brettonian forces in the nation, as they seem hell bent on continuing a war that is no longer there. We strongly suggest to Brettonia that you stand down all your forces and await the results of the peace talks. After all, Kahanistan is any ally of yours, it would certainly not be best practice to try to continue a war that they no longer wish to see fought as it their people's lives who will be put at risk.

We, as the Ottoman Alliance, wish to assure Brettonia that our moves toward peace are no 'ruse', and we have no agenda. This situation was almost resolved once at the peace table, and this team peace seems more viable as all concerned wish to see and end to this troublesome conflict. The Ottoman Alliance is an Alliance for peace, not against it. We do not seek to start wars or continue them, we seek to end them through diplomacy for the greater good of the people involved.

Now that an armistice had been partially enforced, the Celtayoshi fleet had to cease operations hortly after it had begun. Unfortunately that meant the carriers had very little to do. No longer allowed to run sorties into enemy territory there were a hell of a lot of planes waiting in storage. The fleet admirals did not agree with the ruling, when it came through. The believed Kahanistan had been let off the hook to lightly, and that the Ottoman Alliance had the force to completely elminate the threat. Fortunately for fleet command, these thoughts remained only thoughts. For now they were to prevent any new supplies of arms entering the country, whilst taking no offensive action themselves.

"Get me an aspirin. Now. This is turning in to far more of a mess than I had ever hoped..."

General Hassler held out his left hand while continuing to rub his forehead with his right. One of the adjutants came over a few moments later and provided him with the drug, as well as some water, which the General promptly ingested.

"We can't fight the whole damn Alliance by ourselves. Not here, anyway."

He leaned back in his chair and pondered for a while.

"I was hoping the President was just stalling for time... it looks like he's actually going to acquiese to these terms."

Hassler cleared his throat.

"Gentlemen! We're not leaving just yet. Bring up our remaining armored forces around Najaster. Also, contact Nouls again. He and I will be attending the "peace" negotiations in force. This so-called "peace" is a farce, and I intend to be there when the truth comes out."

---

Pvt. Cosekt's assault rifle clocked another paratrooper, knocking him flat on his face.

"Sarge, got another one over here."

"Men, check in. How many is that?"

Sgt. Rawlins added the numbers as each assault suit reported back.

"Ten... four... carry the six... A hundred and sixteen. Ashburn, confirm that."

"Yes, that seems correct. One hundred sixteen."

"Very well. Allright, men, we're getting too far spread out. Bring your prisoners back to the original contact point; we'll load them up into the Peacemakers' cargo areas before continuing on to- Wait, hold it a tick. Getting a priority transmission..."

Rawlins adjusted his suit's radio and listened in.

"...Brettonian Army Forces, I repeat, this is Brigadier General Yuri Hassler. Our mission objectives in Kahanistan have changed. All units are to proceed to Najaster at once. Further orders will be provided upon arrival. I repeat, all units are to proceed to Najaser at once. Proceed with all due haste. Over and out."

"General Hassler? When did he get here?"

"I thought Nouls was commanding the force."

"Why are we pulling back to the capital?"

"Hey! Cut the chatter! There's obviously a reason for this, and I'll wager if Supreme Command sent over a General, there's probably something important going down. Get those prisoners secured and let's move out! Move it! Move it! Move it!"

Taking special care not to inadvertantly crush or otherwise injure the captured Malkyer paratroopers, the assault suits picked them up in groups of two or three at once and began hot-footing it back towards the towering Peacemakers.

---

In the space of two hours, Najaster's skyline was changed once again. The city was ringed by no less than forty-six spidery Peacemakers, numerous smaller Partisans, and regiments of assault suits.

A limousine bore General Hassler, Colonel Nouls, and a number of other high-ranking officers into the city, making haste for the Presidential site. It was flanked by four assault suits providing escort; their long legs easily allowed them to keep pace with the wheeled vehicle.

"General, there's got to be something else behind this. Why would they capitulate so quickly?"

Nouls asked.

"I don't know, dammit. But we're going to find out, make no mistake."

"It's suspicious. Why would he give in so quickly? Between our forces and those of Axis Nova, I'm sure we could have held the country. Most of it, anyway."

"I suppose the President himself will have to tell us that."

The General leaned back and adjusted his hat.

"Colonel, I've been meaning to ask you something."

"Yes?"

"I normally don't pay much attention to the spin machines, but the Ottomans are saying one of your units was in the vicinity of those missiles when they 'changed course' or some such hogwash."

"What's your point?"

"My point is that, however infintesimally small it may be... did you have anything to do with that? Anything at all?"

Nouls paused for a moment.

"Nothing, General. I swear on my sword there was no foul play involved."

The Colonel's gloved hand rested on the hilt of his saber.

"Very well. Driver, how much further are we?"

"Shouldn't be long now, sir."

In conjunction with our allies, the Imperial Commonwealth of Malkyer will accept the peace terms laid down by negotiations. The Ottoman Alliance will uphold an honorable peace, we are sure. We are confident that Kahanistan will do so as well, and hope that her allies follow suit.

Our soldiers on the ground, the 44th Parachute Battalion, will cease combat operations against Kahanistani and allied forces as soon as possible, and will only fight in self-defense.

The Imperial Commonwealth will participate in any negotiations to bring about peace, be they in Kahanistan, or some neutral territory.

Secret Telegram to Brettonian Government:

There remains between us the unresolved issue of prisoners of war. Our battlefleet outside of Kahanistani waters received radio confirmation that at least two dozen of our soldiers have been captured by your forces [OOC: They don't know about the several who've died] As soon as possible, we would like to facilitate the release of these prisoners, whom we are sure have been treated in accordance with the Laws of War, following the formalization of peace in Kahanistan.

Khur was surprised. That was a...short war. Not even a war. More like a skirmish. That's all. Dur agreed.
"Brother, we must not let this stop us. We MUST, and I urge to you, send troops. This could be a trick."
"Dur, brother, I know. I have done a little....trick of my own." He smiled.

The nation of Quere will agree to these peace-talks under three conditions:

1) The OA and the Kahanstani Coalition must not use any form of terrorism, militarial, or any other death involement agaisnt one another.

2) No more than 20 troops (except for the country hosting the peace-talks) may be brought.

3) No beating of citizens or bad, anger-caused things said of other countries unless invloded in these 'wars'.

These are only suggested and not wanted for better peace-talks.

We have already been given authorization to land a larger amount of troops than what you have said. These troops are for the protection of our deligate. If you do anything to harm our deligate then there will be repercussions.

OOC:
Check the thread listed by Kahanistan for the conference. You will have to RP the arrival of your ppl.

Secret Message to COH

The Empire, given the nature of the peace talks and our late entry into the conflict will not make any requests and will station off the Hirgizstanian coast for protection and back up.

The assault suit looked over the soldiers, then turned to face another.

"Sir?"

It pointed at the ten troopers.

"Understood. Roberts, give him a hand."

Another assault suit showed up and observed the situation. Both then about-faced away from the ten Querian soldiers and kneeled.

"Get on, and hang on."

The three jets turned around. The lead jet sent a message to the AA command post. "See you men later." The three jets landed at the airstrip near the capital of Kahanistan a few hours later. The men, along with all the other and the Spartans all packed pu and left, except for 200 men who stayed behind to help keep peace in Kahanistan. 10 Spartans stayed behind as well.

OOC: Sorry guys for being away for so long. Let me catch up.
OOC: This post here up to the next OOC is in reference to around post #100

As the 25th transport starts to fly away, the roar of fighter planes fly overhead. People duck down for cover as they fly past harmlessly.

"Damn! What the hell was that?!" one of the luitennents yells over the scream of the engines.

"I think that's the start of the war," the commanding officer says loudly. "Alright, listen up! We need to get these people on these planes! We might not be able to evacuate everyone that isn't at the airstrip, but it's their own lives that they are risking! Let's move!"

The troops start doubletiming the transport loading procedures. The commander walks into one of the APC's parked nearby. He climbs in. "Get a CIC [Commander In Cheif] on the line!" he yells.

A moment later, the communication crackles to life. "Force Commander James Ackvick, what is your situation?"

"Not good, sir. I believe the war has started, and we've evacuated just over half the civilians that are waiting for evacuation."

"Damn. I can confirm that the war has started. Get moving, your window is closing. But if things degrade too much, I will send in the troops. I am mobilising all of our remaining global force for this operation."

The commander gasped. "Virtually the entire force? You have to be kidding..."

"...No I am not," Ackvick says firmly. "If they target us, IF they shoot civilians, I want to be more than ready to stop this fight. I will order a 'shoot whoever shoots innocents' order, and we will still stand as neutral, but we are taking a much more aggressive stance."

The commander is in more or less shock. "Th....thank you sir!" he says. As Ackvick nods, and the communication ends, the command leans back on the chair , thinks for a moment, then climbs out. He sees some troops standing there. "Well what are you waiting for? Get moving!"

OOC: This post here up to the next OOC is in reference to around post #150

James Ackvick looks towards the viewscreen as he watches the massive chaos. The transport planes were clear now, with the occasional supply plane flying in and out to help those who stayed behind. A few MES visual satellites have been knocked out by the blasts of enemy missiles attempting to shoot down the Kahanistan and her allies' satellites. Collateral damage, you could say.

"Not enough to call a nation on," Ackvick mutters. "Except maybe a demand to have them replaced at their cost."

Someone walks into the dark room. "Good to see you Lance," he said, without even looking to see who it was.

"How did you know it was me? Force Commander Lance Kaider says as he sits down in one of the chairs beside Ackvick's.

"I can tell by your step, and your boots. You wear a naval boot, not a military one."

Lance laughs. "What if some naval guy walked in? Then you would be confused!"

Ackvick chuckles, and then uses a laser-pointer like device and points at the screen. The screen zooms in where he pointed. "See those?" he said.

Lance looks up at them. "They're huge. Walkers...I don't usually see those. Even we don't have many of them. In fact, if I recall the public doesn't even know that we even have such things as walkers."

"That is correct. Anyways, these walkers are a major threat. And the nation's movements seem to be very unusual. It's as if they're doing something unorthodox, like if something is up."

Suddenly, the view quickly shifts to a city center, where a massive explosion is seen. Then more and more kept hitting the city. "What the hell?" he mutters. The view pans out, to reveal planes bombing the city. "Those planes are Kahanistan's allies. Are they backstabbing?"

"Doubted," Kaider says. He picks up the phone, asks a few questions, and puts it down. "I just heard that they were bombing enemy troops, and a number of missiles malfunctioned."

"Malfuctioned?" Ackvick says in surprise. "That's not right. That country isn't third world, and even one weapon failure is rare."

He stands up. "Bring our forces into position. Contact any UN countries in the area to give us permission to use their airstrips. I want our entire force that isn't commited to be ready to deploy at a moment's notice."

OOC: This post here is the latest response to current events.

"Sir, Kahanistan has called for peace talks."

"Perfect, thank you corporal," Ackvick says. The corporal salutes, and walks out of the room. Kaider walks into the room. "James, it appears that Brettan's walkers are heading towards the peace conference."

Ackvick looks back at Kaider. "That just won't do. Prepare a statement, and move in [i]all of our Armageddon SHBT's, and a good portion of our infantry and tank forces into Kahanistan. Deploy them at the airstrip where we first arrived, and tell them to hold fire until given specific orders or are fired upon."

Kaider nods. "Anything else?"

"Yes. Fuel up and arm all of our aircraft stationed at bases nearby Kahanistan, and prepare to strike at any specified target. Also bring orbital attack satellites one, two, and five into position. [the MES has six]"

Kaider nods, and walks out of the room. This has not been a good year for having peace on the planet.

Official Statement From The Militia Enforced State
James Ackvick

We at the MES applaud the movement towards peace. However, due to some tactical maneuvering by some nations, we are expecting an attack by a nation that does not want peace. Because of this, we will be deploying most of our force, and we also have some more units on standby. Do not fire on these forces! If you do, that will be considered an act of war, and you will be attacked, no matter what side you are on. If any nation tries to destroy the peace conference, or attack civilians, then it will also be an act of war, and you will be attacked. Let's end this now before it gets any worse.
