Background Following the disasterous performance by the Incorporated Sarzonian Army in the Inkana Civil War, the Army contacted Quinn & Collins contracted to provide the Army with a standard sidearm that met operational expectations of fast rate of fire, deadly penetration from expected range of engagement, and ease of use. The unit is expected to be compact enough for female officers and rates to handle the weapon and should include flash and noise suppressors to allow the weapon to be employed in black operations. The result of the research is the S-40 Boar.

Operation Several calibres were considered when development of the Boar began, from the venerable 9 mm employed by several models to the .45 Barretta model previously used by the former United States. However, efforts to simplify logistics with current weaponry employed by the Incorporated Sarzonian Army eventually led to the decision to employ a .40 calibre with a 10 round magazine. The .40 calibre is the same employed by the S-120 Quinn & Collins standard submachine gun, thus allowing standard infantry units, Naval Infantry, and Templar units to carry one type of ammunition. Among the other features of the weapons outlay, armour piercing shells designed to cut through protection schemes such as kevlar, spectra, or silk steel have been developed. When equipped with armour piercing shells, the Boar can fire eight shots, though field tests have demonstrated that seven is the optimal number before replacement.

Construction One of the considerations Quinn & Collins had when developing the Boar was the adequate development of lightweight but sturdy construction that allows the weapon to be at once reliable and manageable. As such, the Boar has been constructed with a combination of ballistic polymers and plastics to make the operational weight a modest 1.29 kg. While this exceeds the weight of the M-9 by 12 dekagrams, the additional weight accounts for the sturdy construction needed to fire armour piercing shells.

[OOC: Loosely based on the SIG Sauer P-239 pistol, which was designed with female users in mind. This is intended at least initially to be the standard weapon available to all branches of my military, though that can also be reconsidered depending on mission or practicality of such a venture.]

What is the measure of effectiveness of the armor piercing round, how many inches of titanium plate, or how many layers of kevlar can this round penetrate from the range of 10 meters?
