How much dialogue should there be in RPs?

By dialogue, do you mean IC or OOC?

OOC material should be kept to a minimum - not much more than one line per post - and if there is going to be a lot of discussion, for example in a relatively unplanned RP, then you should probably create a separate OOC thread.

If you mean in-character dialogue between participants, then this is difficult to judge. I personally don't like RPs where you get "How are you?" as one whole post: I prefer to write longer posts. That said, you can't really speak for other people's characters, so sometimes you can only have short posts. It also depends on the nature of the RP: a conference or diplomatic discussion will have a lot, a war or a research project perhaps less. And, of course, it depends on the other RPers, and what they favour doing.

So, basically, there should be as much dialogue as there needs. That's terribly vague, but we can't really answer these questions in the absolute. Just see how it goes, really.
