ooc: This thread was originally going to be a 'bandwagon' question thread, but after Mods got involved, I made it a Factbook with/for questions. Feel free to ask anything and everything whenever. I'll add sections periodically about culture, architecture, tradition, laws, etc. whenever I have time or am sufficiently board.
Note: What is below is a format copied from several other Factbooks. This is because I find it a good one to use.

The Official Factbook of The Third Galactic Dominion of Kazecistan
History:
Little is known about Kazeci history before The Wipe. What is certain is that several nations evolved on the home planet of Kazecistan and reached 'the nuclear age'. They then proceeded to enter a massive war- killing all but about a third of the population of the dominating nation. During this war, the ancestors of the Kazecis decided to move underground. This allowed them to survive.
The Wipe is a time shortly after this war during witch the Kazeci people made every effort to remove their past. The surface of the planet was cleansed of human traces and their records up until the war were deleted.
After several hundred years of seclusion from the environment, it had returned to pristine condition. To this day, the Kazeci people have a great appreciation for the environment, though portions of the cities now rise above the ground (with precautions so as to not detract from the environment).
They developed a modified socialist government, several of the problems with which were not solved until the advent of new technologies. They lived a life of peace and community for several decades before they entered space and this life continued until first contact several centuries later.
'Recent' History:
Kazecistan became a member of its first alliance when it joined the then young Republic. One of only a few members, it rose quickly to power, and stayed there. The Republic roughed it through several galactic political eras, low points and high, internal strife and much more with Kazecistan a leader in its Governing body.
Kazecistan, however met with its first real trouble from within the Republic. Hydrogen-Land, a member slightly older than Kazecistan but of no more power and less popularity, had a bone to pick. The conflict rose from a forgotten and trivial disagreement, likely over H-L's unethical actions, and escalated to a point near war. H-L came out on top, though not through integrity. It had collected popular support by threat, effectively forcing the others to side with it over Kazecistan, who chose logic and truth to defend it's position. Kazecistan's position within the alliance fell overnight to one much lower, its reputation with members in tatters. Slowly this was rebuilt, aided by H-L's abandonment of the republic shortly after. Once again Kazecistan held the second most powerful position within the alliance.
This too was ended by an internal enemy. Kazeci leaders saw where the Republic was headed (nearly exactly where it is today) and wanted none of it. Those were not it's founding ideals and they would not stand for their liberties and freedoms being taken by a greedy senate. And so they made every legal effort to change that, utilizing their senate seat and all their ties to petition for a reversal of course. These had no chance of success from the get go, as Taledonia had set its mind on domination and forcing its ideals upon the members. It was then that Kazecistan threatened to secede from the Republic. Having failed, they followed through with the threat, and for it the republic, well under Taledonia's thumb, went to war. All Kazeci territory and much of their population were taken and made slaves. The Holocaust was opposed to the last man by the Kazeci military and the militias that replaced it, each martyred. Total death tole is estimated in the hundreds of millions. Ironically, not long after this a group of members broke off peacefully and formed the AoW.
A few, however escaped with as much of the library memory banks as they could, and went to re-found the Dominion. Much information was lost, what was essential was taken, along with the greatest minds that could be found. The refugees were joined by freed slaves (countries had bought them and them freed them, helping them to find the new dominion and freedom.) For centuries Kazecistan rebuilt in secret, preparing for the day when they would come back and destroy Taledonia. Recently, however, this goal has fallen from importance. The generations had moved on, despite the fact that the plan could have been executed a with near guarantee of success. It was at that point when the Second Galactic Dominion of Kazecistan revealed itself to the Galaxy.

Facts:
1) 95% of Kazeci goods (anything other than raw materials) are produced by the government. The small private sector is mainly the services industry. The government refuses to import constructed goods (ships, tech devices, programs, etc.) Thus, Kazeci imports are few (food and basic commodities with low or no tech) and done mainly by private citizens on the small scale.
2) 90% of any Kazeci city is underground. The other 10% consists mainly of skyscrapers that have been designed to be aesthetically pleasing and to blend with the environment.
Major Kazeci Tech:
Weapons:
The Zat:Basic energy weapon, comes in many sizes for many applications. Deep purple in color. Used in mass to overwhelm shielding. 'hail'
The HLIC (Heavy Lethal Ion Cannon): Heaviest weapon in Kazecistan. Turreted. Fires long shots with intervals of varying time based on several factors. Golden in color.
The SPPT (Shield Piercing Plasma Torpedo): Kazecistan's old heavy weapon. Short range. Faint red beam creates a small hole in shielding allowing the plasma torpedo to directly impact the hull. Kazecistan has yet to encounter shielding which can hold up. Used on key exposed systems. 'scalpel'
The missile: Small and fast. Several variations, but generally used on fighters and frigates.
The Torpedo: Heavy and powerful. Used on capitol ships. May divide warhead into 12 parts and split into 12 missiles if deemed necessary.
The EWC (ElectroWave Cannon, commonly 'Shove Waves'): Various sizes. Transparent wave of energy that pushes with great force. This forces fighters and missiles aside and crumples hulls. Very minimal recoil due to its design. Many settings and powers for many jobs.
Ships:
The SC (Super Cruiser): Dreadnought class ship. Staple of the Kazeci Navy. Twice as wide as it is tall, it has a basic oval shape when viewed from any direction.
The HBC (Heavy Battle Carrier): Built on the same hull as the SC, the HBC has fewer weapons and a much larger main bay.
The AF (Attack Frigate): Heavy and only frigate class. Small number of powerful long range weapons with fast recharge rates.
The BT (Bullet Transport): An unarmed 14 person craft with extreme speed & agility and limited FTL capability.
The LDF (Light Drone Fighter): Crescent shaped body. Carries Zats and a few missiles. Fast and agile.
The HDF (Heavy Drone Fighter): bulky body with crude angles. Carries Zats, missiles and a few torpedoes. Slow and cumbersome (for a fighter).
The DB (Drone Bomber): Duel hulled body. Carries defensive Zats, plasma cannons, missiles and a few torpedoes.
The MGD (Multi Gun Drone): Larger than a fighter- corvette class. Carries many Zats and a large collection of anti-fighter missiles.
Defence Technology:
Energy Shielding (ES): usually about a meter from the hull's surface to avoid taking unnecessary fire. Effective against energy and plasma based weapons, multiple small generators for one ship, each inadequate for protection.
Particle Field Shielding (PFS, formerly MPS): A swarm of small debris manipulated by fields into a bubble around the vessel. each particle has its own trajectory, making for a random pattern of fast moving shrapnel that tears through missiles and fighters, preventing them from approaching the hull.
Point Defence Zats (PDZ/ point defence batteries / point defence guns): Just that, small, precision zat batteries placed strategically around the vessel so as to deal with what the PFS misses (or if there is no PFS)
Armor (also referred to as hull): Kazeci ships are built very robust, they're meant to slug it out with the big boys for a long time. Their armor consists of energy dispersal layers (assuming ES fails) and thick plating for impact and explosion.
Kazeci Life:
Chapters:
1.The Awakening
Kazeci children are connected to Fully Submersive Virtual Reality at birth. They are fed the raw nutrients they require by machine. They live in an accelerated program that passes time at over twice the normal rate. They are ‘Awakened’ at the age of 10, having experienced over 20 years of life. During this time they have followed a carefully laid out plan of studies and social situations designed for maximum growth of the mind. Their course was created to lead them through a process of thinking and bring them to a common mind with the rest of Kazecistan as well as make their academic success a guarantee.
FSVR programs are used for teaching purposes with those who have completed The Awakening as well. It teaches history from a first person perspective. The subject is unaware of the program's nature- their reality's falsity- during its operation, which is the reason it is ‘fully submersive’.
Due to these processes, most Kazecis are of similar mind set, having gone through variations of the same program.
2. Pre-work Life:
Following The Awakening, Kazeci children have several months of total freedom, allowed to travel about Kazecistan without work or study and acquaint themselves with their new world, under the guidance of a councillor.
From there they enter a work study program (VR & RL) where they spend their days in classes and serving the public needs in any number of mundane and low level jobs. The VR courses in which they take part consist of other real students and teachers, simply exist in an accelerated time and with unlimited resources. The classes gradually consume more and more time as they cover deeper subjects and students earn their degrees.
Once a student masters, they leave education and become a sort of intern in their chosen field, known as a runner. Their time in this phase is as indeterminate as in the last, but it does eventually end with them becoming an assistant and them climbing the professional ladder.
