The Imperium would like to announce new standard calibers for its military's small arms.
Pistol and Submachinegun: 4.3mm Imperial. This is not a pistol round. This casless round was developed along the same vein as the 5.7mm FN or the 4.6mm HK, an extremely small bullet with the ballistic profile of a rifle; which means extremely high velocities and in such a small round that translates into superior AP qualities. Coupled with blendedmetal technology and you have an extremely lethal round in a very small package.
Assault Rifle/SAW/Sniper: 6.25mm Imperial. While this round is larger than the ubiquitous 5.56mm NATO or the 5.45mm Soviet, it is smaller than the current 6.8mm Caseless. Like many 6mm rounds, this one features the ballistic profile of the 7.62mm NATO but has the felt recoil of the 5.56mm NATO. Combined with blended metal technology used in the round, this weapon becomes very lethal to enemies in well-trained hands.
Heavy Weapons: The same 9mm round that's being used in current generations of Imperial heavy weapons, its name is just being changed to 9mm Imperial.
