I've only tried Past Tech once, nothing different. I'm sure not many of the RPers on NationStates have done Past Tech often, but then again, I could be wrong. This one is simple - Forge up an empire out of the blood of your enemies, or use diplomacy to gain their hand. Oppress and enslave, or Aid and Strengthen, it's all up to you. Imagine it as a medieval version of your nation. The rules are similiar to normal NationStates, but for one major difference:

You leave your normal stats at the door

It doesn't matter what your country size is, what your reputation is, whether you're a seasoned veteran, a growing player or in between, but you are to not use your stats from other things to aid you. This is solely feeding on strategy and RPing skill, not how big your country is, or how many Wars you've won. I don't care, and I expect you not to care.

Here's what it's like. You make up a small kingdom (or Queendom, if it suits your fancy), and the lands are exactly adjacent to others in this RP. Suffice to say, your lands border theirs. To become larger and stronger, you must either invade them and conquer, or establish trades routes. Simple. Imagine it as a middle ages RP. However, instead of using real nations and empires from those times, you are able to create your own. The template for creation is as follows:

Empire Name:
People:
Religion:
History:
Ruler:
Race

**No magic. Your race has no bearing on their effectiveness. They will simply look different or act different from regular Medieval humans.

Empire: Kath Impur
People: Imps
Religion: None
History: It was said that when the civilizations young, when they built marvels of great stone statures of religion and belief, that the superstitious legions of the world always wondering to the stars, the Imps had poured their minds into the frenzy of War. Small, cunning, crafty, they have trained their children and their citizens to become warlike, to become efficient and strong. To them, War was the inherent nature of life; to conquer, and feed, and move on when your prey is no longer strong enough to aid you. That was their belief, and it led to so many early victories within the outcast borders that soon grew to become the fabled borders of Sasz Impur. They had developed their own language only for communication, made only things out of necessity, and never had a strong or flourishing culture. To some races they are seen as logical and cunning; to most, barbaric. However, they are far from being the bloodthirsty beasts they usually unleash.

Small, strong but fragile, Imps are tinier in number than most believe, and so they resort to enslaving the wildlife to do the battling for them, while, as archers battle from the end of the lines, far from danger. However, usually stronger and larger Imps, ones who seem to be similar to humans, are trained into Beserkers, large fearsome warriors without revelation for anything but battle. At it’s bloody heart, there is a social order, a sort of instinctual societal hierarch obeyed by the population to maintain a sense of peace. Victory and defeat are parts of a warrior’s life, and the Imps expect both ends from any battle. They seek to destroy, to recreate, not to conquer. The Impish seek to merely burn down the imperfection of the world and rebuild it in their eyes.

Empire Name: The Empire of Ferrarnum
People: Ferrae
Religion: None
History: Men of iron and stone, the Ferrae are the godless and warlike men of the Rerrevetum Plains. They are ruled by the Imperial family, the eldest male member dubbed 'Primoris' - 'First' in the High Tongue. The Primoris dictates the law, advised by a council of educated men. The law is enforced by the Imperial Army, a professional fighting force in which service is compulsory from birth.

The Ferrae speak in two forms. The High Tongue (Latin) is usually reserved for state matters, titles and occasions, whilst the Low Tongue (English) is spoken by all citizens.

The core of the Imperial Army is formed by the 'Sarisae' - Heavily armoured footsoldiers who carry a shortsword, tower shield and five-metre pike. It is the Sarisae around which the rest of the army is formed, herding the enemy towards their pikes.
Flanking the Sarisae are the 'Gaesumii', lightly armoured javelineers. They carry a shortsword, a large oval shield and a number of heavy javelins.
The 'Sagittoi' are archers. They carry long bows as tall as a man, which fire three foot arrows two hundred yards and penetrate steel plate. They are highly trained, and can have an arrow in the air every six seconds.
The noble families of the Empire send their sons into the 'Anulusii' - heavy cavalrymen who wear suits of steel and carry long lances. Their horses are also armoured, and a single mounted Analusi horseman can weigh around a ton and a half. The Analusii are famed throughout the Empire, and it is believed that nothing can withstand their charge.

All men serve the state in the Imperial Army, the land is tilled by slaves, and the women govern their homes and children. The Ferrae believe in their own superiority over all races, and their entire civilisation is geared towards keeping it that way.

Empire Name: The Kingdom of Asuri'an
People: Asuri'n
Religion: Spirits of Nature (Semi-Animism)
History: The Asuri'n people live towards the south, in the mediterranean climate region of Q'enlathinae Valley, a paridise of warm summers and cool, but not cold, winters. They are ruled by a King, though he is elected and advised by the Council of Elders. The king rules lightly, not interfering much in the affairs of each town, ruled by a minor lord. Dispite their peaceful nature, most Asuri'n are enrolled in the army and given basic training, though most serve only as militia, leaving just a hardened core of the professional fighters.

The long lifespans of Asuri'n allow them to perfect their chosen art of craft in a way few shorter lived races could hope to, but this means that each Asuri'n building, painting or weapon is a work of art, and can take months or years to finish, where a human would take days or weeks. Still, the art and skill of Asuri'n craftsmen cannot be deined.

The nation of Asuri'an was founded by V'lethor, who united the many scattered tribes living in Q'enlathinae Valley. The nation thrived in the first 100 or so years, but this attracted the attention of the Ka'lorgoron (The Asuri'n name for them), a group of wild barbarian men who came to conquer this land for themselves. The elves learned the tactics of hit and run with their fast cavalry, equiped with the strong but lightweight armour and weapons made from H'leo, a metal abundant in those parts. Eventually, the Ka'lorgoron were defeated, but the elders dicided that an army was needed in case they returned. This led to the formation of the Warrior Cults, groups who study a particular way of war, and the militia, the civilians who will take up arms if Asuri'an is attacked.
The Asuri'an wish to expand only to support their increasing population, and would prefer to use diplomacy. Still, they view the other races with pity for not being born with the knowlage and (of course) beauty of the Asuri'n, or living in a paradise such as Q'enlathinae. This makes them slightly arrogant to the "lesser" races.
Ruler: King In'eleoin

In fact, I think I'll write up a quick Medival Warfare guide to prevent any arguements. (Runs off to research)

OOC: I thought it would, actually. I just picked the weight of a Napoleonic Gros Frere off the top of my head, but considering they only wore helmets and breastplates, a fully-armoured knight would weigh considerably more. I'll put it to 1.5.

Medieval Warfare, A brief guide.

Troop Types:

Men-at-arms/Militia: The grunts and basic foot soldiers, men-at-arms are slightly trained peasants. They are given some leather armour, maybe with metal plates, or sometimes are expected to provide their own. They are normally equiped with a wooden shield, a long knife or sometimes a sword, and a spear or polearm. They are effective in large numbers, but are poor fighters and have poor morale, at least compared to more professional fighters.

Peasant Levys: The lowest of the low, peasant levys are really nothing more then serfs with spears and pitchforks. They are probably the worst troop type ever to appear on the battlefield, having no training at all.

Professional Soldiers/Elite Militia: The mainstay units, these men are not called to service only in times of war, (normally, some militias have elite troops) but have a job in the army. They are probably the best foot troops on the field, though the catagory of "professionals" is a very broad one, ranging from hit and run archers to armoured infantry wielding pikes and huge shields.

Archers: Most archers are peasants, drafted into service because they own a expensive longbow or bow. Others are professionals, expert marksmen. Regardless, they are usually unarmoured and lighly armed. They stay away from the enemy and shoot him.

Light Infantry: Infantry that harried the flanks of the enemy, or filled the role of LIGHT CAVALRY (see below).

Knights: Knights were THE most effective weapon on the battlefield until the development of the longbow and pike/polearm. They are heavly armoured, in chain or plate mail, ride warhorses and carry long lances and swords. A unit of these charging is enough to overwhelm any infantry line, as those who opposed them were impaled, crushed, or stabbed. (Unlike some books say, a knight in plate is not invinciable. Dont assume everything just bounces off). This continued until the English developed the longbow, which had almost the power of a crossbow, but a much greater rate of fire. Knights charging through the storms of arrows would eventually go down, as arrows struck weak points, the horse, or unarmoured bits. This is when platemail and barding was invented, to aid agaisnt missile fire.
The pike is the best infantry weapon to use against cavalry, as the charging knights would impale themselves on the long shafts. Horses would shy away from charging a wall of pikes, further adding to their effect.

Light Cavalry: Light cavalry and horse archers were horsemen who harried the flanks of the enemy, attacking archers and war machines, or shooting the flanks of main battle units. They were lightly armoured, and largely ineffective in head-on battles.

Thats about all the troops I can think of.

Weapons:

The Sword: The basic weapon, given to professionals who could afford them, or found by those who couldn't. It was used in close up fighting, when spears and pikes were to long to be used. Against knights, you would knock your oppenent out, then stab him in a weak spot.

The Spear: The most common weapon, a spear is a stick of wood with a metal tip. It was cheap to make, and was given to most men-at-arms. It was marginally useful against cavalry, but was mainly used to stab opponents as they charged.

The Pike/polearm: The pike is a very long spear, made of metal or wood. They were pole weapons once used extensively by infantry and foot-soldiers principally as a counter-measure against cavalry assaults. Pikes were extremely long weapons, and could exceed six meters in length.

The steel tip was fairly long compared to the shaft, making the weapon most unwieldy in close combat. This meant that pikemen were often equipped with a sword for close encounters.

Halberd: A halberd is a pole weapon that came to prominent use during the 14th and 15th centuries. It consists of an axe head topped with a spike mounted on a long shaft. The back of the axe head was often fitted with a hook for grappling mounted combatants.

Halberds were two-handed axe-like weapons consisting of four parts:

a handle roughly 7 or 8 foot (1 m 70)long
an axe blade
a point
often a hook or thorn on the back side of the axe blade
This made the halberd cheap to produce and very versatile in battle. Its length allowed to deflect spears and pikes, its point allowed to keep sword-wielding opponents at distance, and the hook would be used to draw armored opponents to the ground. The axe blade, obviously, was for cutting into unarmed opponents and horses.

MORE TO COME LATER.

Interesting, well as my first post I guess I'll join this and see how it goes. By the way...since this is 'Earth' we can claim land right?

Empire Name: The Novum Empire
People: Novums
Religion: Neo-Christianity
History: When the earth was young and ripe for life, a people known as the Primoris Populus established a civilization upon the steppes of a vast plains. These people, united since the beginning, spread the culture of humanity before spirituality, pleasure before reason, and unlimited freedom before self restraint. Their culture was strong, their armies vast, and the influence limitless. Yet for all this, they could not hold their civilization together. They fled, scattered, and died in panic as their grand civilization came crashing down around them. Their culture went threw a period of utterly dissolvement, destroying every last remanant of it--save a few strands of history.

From the ashes of this civilization from the "Novums Populus" or the "New People". Their civilization was changed with the influence of Neo-Christianity, a much more radical form of regular Christianity. It was upon the ruins of the Primioris Populus Civilization that the Novum Empire was built and stands today.

Their tongue is unquie, as it is a mix of several languages with some even reaching before the rise of the Primioris Populus Civilization, and some reaching as far as the rise of the Novum Empire.

The Empire is ruled by Emperor Belor who holds a policy of expansion by any means. Be it diplomacy or war, he plays no favoritism with either. The reasons for expansion are simple--land, its was keeps the empire strong and the people happy. The more land the happier the people.

Empire Name: Imperium of Ageaol
People:Ageaol
Religion:None
History: The Ageaol live up in the high mountains of the Mickalai Mountains. There the living is tough and the people are forced to do what they must for survival. The people, realizing they would soon die without guidance set up an Assembly of 500 people. These 500 people elected a ruler who they called the God-Emperor. The God-Emperor has almost absolute control of the people yet rarely intervenes in people's normal lives. The God-Emperor helped the people flatten small areas in the mountains to grow crops and dug holes to create lakes and eventually they found a perfect valley in the middle of the mountains with good land and an abundance of resources. For many years the title of God-Emperor has been passed down by the choice of the current ruler and each God-Emperor forsake their name and took the name of the land.

The people of Ageaol are tough from living near the mountains. A child is not considered to be an adult until they go into the mountains and survive for three months on their own. Every four months a group of people go into the mountains to train themselves against the roughness of the land and be grateful for the valley they have. The people are chosen randomly and attendance is mandatory for everyone, men, women, and children. The only exceptions is when a women is near childbirth. This practice has continued for many years and has hardened the hearts of the Ageaol.

You should look for an Elvish font. Make the map look proper Elf.

The Ferrae live in stone walled cities on the Rerrevetum Plains, east and north of the Circle Mountains (A ring of mountains. Hmm. Where have I heard of that before?). Their lands stretch from the Mountains to the Maceria Cliffs (Think White Cliffs of Dover), and the Great Forest in the east. The plains are mostly grassland, with rocky outcrops. The land around the cities is heavily farmed.

12-10-2005, 22:47
Empire Name: The Great Imperium of Caladonn
OOC: This seems interesting. How does this profile sound? If it's too good I can tone it down a bit.

People: Caladonnians
Regligion: None
History: The Great Imperium of Caladonn is situated on a vast, temperate island. The lush inner plains and forests are surrounded by a ring of mountains, known as the Menlac Mountains.

The people of Caladonn are long-lived, and are called Elves. They speak Sindarin, the ancient language whose roots are lost in antiquity.

The current land of Caladonn is situated on the western coast of the island. The elves have become great seafarers, builders and warriors, as well as scholars and craftsmen. Caladonn was once an Empire, under the Emperor Aeliach, but this ruler voluntarily foregave his power, turning Caladonn into the Democracy it is known as today, despite the Imperium remaining its official title.. The 100 Senators and two Consuls are elected every five years, and the people rejoice under their representative form of government.

Caladonn is specially known for its ships and engineering works. The roads crossing the Menlac Mountains are legendary, and the great white cities within are just as famous as the sleek Caladonnian sailing ships. Despite their extensive knowledge of navigation and seafaring, the Caladonnians have not reached any new lands, meaning they are quite isolated. If new lands were to be discovered, it would surely spark off a new age of imperialism in Caladonn.

The Navy of Caladonn is legendary, with the sleek clinker built ships of up to two masts carrying ballistae and contingents of marines to defeat the sea monsters that prowl the ocean around Caladonn. The Army is also well disciplined, but considerably smaller.

The majority of the soldiers of Caladonn come in two types: the Pikemen and the Longbowmen. Horses are Caladonn are used for naught but as draught animals, although the pikes were developed partially as defense against the wild herds of ealier years.

The Pikemen of Caladonn are very heavily armoured, and carry a tower shield and longsword in addition to their nearly 7 meter pike. The Longbowmen have slightly less armour and carry composite longbows as tall as themselves, often more than six feet, and also carry longswords and small bucklers. The maximum range of these bows was around 400 meters, but they became less effective at this range. The fully trained bowmen could fire up to 8 times a minute!

Race: Elves (A bit tougher though)

Empire Name: The Kingdom Of Tel'Quessír
People: Tylaré (Or Simply "High/Silver Elf")
Religion: Druidic
History:The Tylaré live away from the rest of the world, the Isle of Mist, as it is known to humans, is the sanctuary of the Tylaré, it is a island of contrasts, from green vales to crystal blue lakes, warm coastal regions to high frozen peaks, it is more of a small continent than an isle, but no foreign ships have ever come close enough to explore it.

The Tylaré are ruled by a member of the Royal Family, Whether male or female, the royal line is heraditory and the Kingdom has maintained one bloodline since its founding. The Current Queen is advised by the Council and the judges of the Judicial system.

Tylaré live for hundreds of years, and in the Isle Of Mists, or Finduilas Luacuteinwë, Large cities of white stone, towns among the trees and blue crystal monuments have been made peoples homes, Great Ports lay dormant on the coast, their only duty to keep the navy in harbour, ready to defend the Isle.

The Druidic nature of the Tylaré has lead to conflict with other races, as it has been quick to rise and strike at those who had defiled the old homeland, a land that the Tylaré do not speak of anymore, it is unknown of what happened, however, the Tylaré eventually left and forged a new life on the prosperous Isle.

The Swan Navy is very well trained, but with only a few large ship types, its main advantages lie in fast quick boarding and ramming strikes, its manouverability and hit and run tactics makes it extremely hard to fight effectively, And even once cornered, the larger ships can put many other of human or other make to shame.

The Army of the Tylaré is formed of numerous legions, each hailing from different cities and bearing different shield designs, however, each have the same standard and design of armour, made from a material found deep in the Azala Mountains called Azastyl, It can forge very strong armour and equally strong weapons, although the mastery of steel and other metals has not gone unlearnt. The Legions are well trained professional soldiers, and are equally trained in bow mastery, swordplay, and use of longer weapons such as pikes and other 2 handed weapons. The common tactic of any Tylaré Praetor (General) is to form his legions into cohesive units, using ranged attacks from rear units whilst keeping those best suited to 2 handed weapons at the fore, whilst those who fare better with other weapons make up the middle bulk of the legion. Recent Tactics using new shields and shorter weapons for fighting infantry based charges, without having to change weapon, have also been introduced.(Im thinking.. the sword type things the Elf army uses during the battle of dagorlad in LotR, Where Sauron dies by having his finger chopped off... Yeah...)

Cavalry is not lost upon the Tylaré, as numerous small cavalry units are attached to each unit, The white horses of the Royal Cavalry have often swept aside fleeing units and broken enemy formations, whether their riders have bow, sword, or lance, the Royal Cavalry never retreat.

The Kingdom was founded by The Nalaté Royal Family with refugees from their former kingdom from an unknown land, The refugees forged a new nation amongst the Isle of Mists, Defending it and turning it into a sanctuary of all life, And fiercely gaurd it from all intrusion.

The Tylaré have no current desire to expand, having isolated themselves on Finduilas Luacuteinwë for the past 600 Years, when the last trade ship ceased docking with other races ports, The Tylaré tend to view all other races with a distinct disgust, They are often deemed lower, and destroyers of nature, However, if a race proves itself, as the Tylaré beleive they have done, That race is often respected and sometimes, admired. This however, has only happened in rare occassions, and still does not warrant relations with the Isle.

OK, everone with pikes...You cant use a shield and pike at the same time. If you dont believe me, go and get a 20 foot long piece of metal, hold it in one hand, and point it at the imaginary knight charging at you for about 2 minutes. Dont let it touch the ground. Then hold a big 10 pound shield in the other hand while you do it. Pikes are two handed weapons. Spears are shorter and lighter, and can be used in one hand.

Those are both spears. The elf spears are about 7 feet high, and Roman's is about 6. A pike is twenty. A pike is for killing cavalry, and spear is for infantry fighting, as it isnt long enough to stab the knight before the knight impales you on his lance.

13-10-2005, 02:52
I would think it would be possible to carry a pike and shield if the pike was upright, as it would be a lot easier to hold. Therefore, while moving, if this is correct the defense provided by the shield could still be utilised. Is this plausible?
Verghastinsel

Having marched with a pike in a civil war re-enactment day, I would say yes. Just don't turn quickly. and you can hold it easily with one arm.
Caladonn
13-10-2005, 22:49
Well, having carried all sorts of tall and narrow things, I can attest that its far easier to carry them upright than flat. Therefore, pikemen could use shields while marching or waiting, and then sling them over their backs in preparation for the enemy charge.

Just to help you:

You (Nistolonia): Q'enlathinae Valley is a valley (suprise, suprise) surrounded by the Mountains of Mist (Y'neayas E'hedro). Its moderatly wooded in the Valley, and heavly wooded in Y'eayas E'hedro.

Verghastinsel: The Ferrae live in stone walled cities on the Rerrevetum Plains, east and north of the Circle Mountains (A ring of mountains. Hmm. Where have I heard of that before?). Their lands stretch from the Mountains to the Maceria Cliffs (Think White Cliffs of Dover), and the Great Forest in the east. The plains are mostly grassland, with rocky outcrops. The land around the cities is heavily farmed.

Ageaol: The Ageaol live the Mickilai Mountain Range. It is a VERY large Mountain Range that is up in the north. They live in valleys inside the mountains and the area around the mountain range is heavy forest.

Caladonn and Arenumberg I do not know. Perhaps they will clarify it, but you can assume things right now.

Jenrak: As for me, a desert with occassional oasises where my cities will be.

They don't have to. They can, for 'tension' purposes (rivalling empires on each other's borders), but it's jsut as easy to place 'Here be Dragons' in unclaimed parts of land.

If you actually read my history the whole "Isle Of Mists" and "Navy" part gives it away, put me close to the mainland where i can be constantly threatened, but a pretty decently sized island would be good.. mountains in the centre, valleys leading away from them with sizable forests and a few lakes, would be ideal.

Empire Name: D'maduente Aiel

People: atha'an al'aman(People of the Dragon)

Religion: Light v. Dark

History: The Aiel story begins in the distant past. Four thousand years ago the world was broken by the Mad-ones. Men who could touch a source of immense mystical power that had been tainted after the defeat of the Dark One. These men changed the landscape of the earth and in a single day could make citys and nations disappear beneath the sea. In the midst of this turmoil the Aiel sought a home for themselves, away from the destruction of the Mad-ones. they searched and searched led by Bael.

The Aiel found their home in the arid land called the Aiel Waste where water was scarce as was shade. By day you could overheat and by night you could freeze to death. In this harsh environment rose the warrior society of the Aiel. Divided into Clans and then even further into Septs, they were ruled for thousands of years by Clan chiefs. This system changed when the Car'a'carn or Chief of Chiefs was found. He united the Aiel and brought them glory. The Aiel now live under the Dynasty that this legendary founder left behind. They reatin their warrior societys and their system of honor. this once split people has now come up as a major player in the world and they can back up their words with a fight.

Ruler: Car'a'carn Rand XIV of House al'Thor

Race: Aiel(light hair, tall, dark skin, massive stamina)

For those of you that noticed yes its from TWoT and yes Ive made them more like the 'wetlanders' since the first Rand.

Empire Name: The Queendom of Zylth
People: The Zylth live a single island, upon which approximately 60 000 Zylth dwell. The are blue-haired people, and are rumoured to be wizards, or sorcercers. However, it is unknown whether these rumours are true, or just Zylth rumuors to keep the "Bound Ones", or normal people, enslaved. The normals occupy six surrounding isles, and outnumber the Zylth approximately twelve-to-one. However, since no examples of this so-called magic have been ever demonstrated, it is probable that they do not exist, and that the Zylth simply use it to keep their enslaved races in check.
Religion: Bound Ones are forced to worship the Zylth, who have superior physical and mental abilities, as well as longveity.
History: Very little. The Bound Ones ruled their own isles until the Zylth came, slaughtered everyone on "Centre Isle", and subjugated the others.
Ruler: Queen Tamarith. She is a powerful warrior, excellent stateswoman, and intuitive ruler. She conquered the Zylth through her many talents.
Race: The "Bound Ones" are traditional humans, the Zylth are thought to be a variation on them. The Zylth live up to 150 years, and are stronger, more immune to disease, and more decisive. However, they are suspectible to cold.

Empire Name: Krokozia
People: Krokozis, Fokoslavs, Grodoan, Muurites, Darians
Religion: Eastern Orthodox, Indigenous religions
History: The Krokozi people began as a tribe of nomadic herders in Thrace, but they emigrated up into the Balkans at about 100 A.D. They have since become farmers of the land.

The Fokoslavs unlike the Krokozis, are originally from the balkans, and are one of the first civilizations to sprout up in the region. The Fokoslavs are nomads, however, some have began creating farming communities.

The Grodoans are a raiding tribe, and are some of the cruelest barbarians in the Balkans. They are know for their practice of scalping the victims of their raids. Similar to the Vikings in all other manners, save that they are land raiders and do not use the sea whatsoever.

The Murrites are a peaceful group that lives in what would be RL Kosovo

The Darian tribe is a collection of clans that are always at war with each other for control of the land. They 18 tribes are as follows: Ruli, Bakara, Vintu, Mik, Daan, Coran, Indus, Boyah, Xizen, Warttenburg, Tamu, Shiva, Vicca, Eelong, Miha, Tskiki, Formag, and Trant

The Krokozis, once they settled in the region, came under assualt by the local tribes, such as the Fokoslavs and the Grodoans. They quickly addapted to the chaotic ways of the lands, and became excellent warriors themselves. In 293 the Krokozian forces defeated the Fokoslavic army in the Battle of Throue, effectively reducing the Fokoslavs to subjects of the Krokozis. After the War of the Birch Tree (298-327) the Grodoans came under rule by the Krokozis. This brought many years of peace to the region, save a few revolutions by the Fokoslavs and the Grodoans.

In 904, the Grodoans, who had been training their warriors in secret ever since their defeat in the War of the Birch Tree, attacked the Krokozian towns in Grodo in the St. Vishna's Day Massacre. In the massacre, thousands of Krokozis were slautered all over the realm. This lead to the Fifeteen Years War (904-919) and the death of millions of Krokozis, Fokoslavs, Grodoans, and Kemalians. The war ended in the Battle of Grododan, when the Krokozi forces-along with the Kemalians, and some Fokoslavs that defected-seiged the Grodoan capital for 2 years, finally breaking through the walls and sacking the city.

As of now, the Kingdom of Krokozia includes Albania, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Kozovo. On the contient that looks like Europe.

1. It's an Earth, chopped about.
2. There is a choice between trees, snow, and dirt as terrain variation.
3. It has names plastered on from the guy who actually made the map.
4. The borders are too thin, and colours cannot be easily distinguished.
5. Elvish-sounding names are annoying, and difficult to remember and pronounce.
6. It just looks wrong.
7. I wanted a red border, dammit. :D

2. I tried to place the countries where there was what they described but you can also change it to what you want. Snow can be mountains also, dirt can be desert and mountains, and grass can be forest and steppes. Be creative!

3. It is from TWoT series and is an alternate map to the one from the books. I have to use paint so I couldnt delete them.

4. I tried to use the pencil but if you want Ill use the paint brush...

5. Its the Old Tounge not Elvish! Read a WoT book! Sheesh! Would you prefer I type in Esperanto?

Nistolonia

Novum Testamentum

Ageaol

Caladonn

Ruler: Imperial Consuls Aramil and Holimar
Race: Elves (A bit tougher though)

Aernumberg

Updated it only a little, and no, I didn't base it off of Middle Earth. It justed ended up like that.

Also Hyperspatial Travel said live on a single island, so I'm justified.

There's a few threads. Jenrak has one, and so does Philanchez. I'll try to find the links, but you're better off doing a search. This is like the earths, so you post your own expansions, ect...

the Two Threads (by me and Philanchex) have been indexed at the front of the thread. Any other threads posted here or found wil also be indexed.

Consider this an informational bump.

Okay, I'll get up a thread.

We also need a 'main thread' were the different nations can post major events or diplomatic talks when they begin to encounter each other. That way we can keep things centralized as well as branched off with the other threads.

Yes, a main IC thread would be good. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9817294 That's my expansion thread.

Just one question, I noticed that on the map to the north of where I'm expanding it says "Here be Dragons." What type of dragons are they, and who decides this? I have a few things in mind, but I don't have to use them.

Empire Name: Spoot Halflings
People: Spoot Halflings
Religion: Enchanted Meadow
History: Supposedly taken down from the Enchanted Meadow and placed onto this world, the Halflings have never been strong, intelligent or powerful, but for all the hardships that the universe has thrown at them they have always seemed to pull through somehow.

Much of their troubles have poured from the vastly inbred Royal family which has had Spoot as it's title for well over 500 years, partly down to the Halflings utter lack of intelligence, they rarely go to war and when they do it is to fight the common foe which slew their first King, the sea, many thousands of lives are wasted each year in this futile suicide march, but again no Halfling has the intelligence to argue otherwise.
Ruler: King Spoot the 286th
Race: Spoot Halfling (around 1ft tall, weak, annoying)
