Preparatory Work Initiates as 100th Anniversary of the Omzian Republic Approaches
Omzian IVP News - Reliable News, Delivered to Suit Your Needs

OSARIA G.A. (August 10, Dakarie Year 100, IVP) -- Across the capital with its broad avenues and gigantic works of Omzian architecture, there seems to be a new routine that is growing to be increasingly commonplace. Street workers dressed in blue, policemen dressed in black, and even military personnel dressed in green are now dotting the streets of Osaria more and more frequently, the appearance of this trio of colours now becoming more constant in the eyes of any Osaria resident. To the unfamiliar eye, this might simply represent the increased tempo of preliminary preparations for another day off on National Liberation Day. However, to the all-knowing eye, this year's September 2nd represents something far more meaningful, far richer in its purpose than before: the Omzian Republic is rapidly approaching its 100th birthday.

"This will certainly be an exciting occasion to come very soon," said Jonkares Honara, as the chief of the Osaria City Council's National Liberation Day Celebration Preparation Committee. "A lot of work are currently being done around the city to prepare for this celebration, and by a lot, I certainly mean a lot. Unlike the past several years, this time around we are not only preparing for the standard short President's speeches and the regular celebrations, but also preparing for something much larger."

Though Honara declined to comment, it is an open secret that the anniversary celebration will include a military parade, which will not only be of an immense scale and the first military parade in the capital city in twenty years, but it also will be the first time in fifteen years when military units beyond the Navy's Capital Security Units will enter the city itself, beyond its municipal boundaries. Though the military has declined to comment, it is believed that the parade will encompass not only all major branches of the Omzian Forces, but also a great number of new military hardware that has entered service since the last military parade, which is reported to account for 90% of all of the military equipment that will be shown in the parade. This was confirmed by observers when a practice parade was conducted during the midnight of the first day of August, though Osaria civil authorities refused to comment on the matter.

Though the Osaria G.A. is normally not open to all civilians, being the nerve center of the Omzian government and armed forces, it is expected that during the holiday entrance passes - that will allow regular citizens to enter Osaria for a set period of time, will be issued to any individual who desires to witness the celebrations in Osaria, including foreign citizens in the Omzian nation. It is also expected that the usage of Osaria's public transportation systems will also skyrocket during the celebration, though at the same time it is also expected that multiple major bus routes through the capital city will be suspended during the celebration, while several major subway stations will also be shut down.

The total number of people expected to visit Osaria during the celebration is said to "exceed several millions", Honara revealed.

Official Announcement of the Omzian Foreign Ministry, Addressed to All Nations

As the Omzian Repulic nears its 100th Anniversary date, the Omzian Foreign Ministry officially invites all foreign diplomats, from nations that are whether friends or adversaries, to attend the celebrations and be the forefront of the witnesses of the largest military parade yet to be seen in Omzian history. Do note however, that security will be especially tight, so there's nothing resonable to worry about for all dignified national leaders and senior diplomats alike.

Lieutenant President Nicole Lewis was reading through a collection of press releases and noticed the announcement by the Omzians. With Sarzo en route to Nicksia, then Praeton, she decided she was going to make the rare trip abroad to show the Sarzonian flag. She called her aide and asked him to gas up Sarzonia Two for the trek to Omz.

"I know our governments have worked together and are bound by alliances," she said, explaining her reasons for leaving Woodstock without either Sarzo or her present, in violation of unofficial guidelines. "But we've never actually had the sort of personal dialogue between our peoples that we need to have. I'm going to change all that."

"Madame Lieutenant President," the aide said in a phone call two hours later. "Sarzonia Two is ready."

"All right. I'll be there in half an hour." She grabbed her suitcase and briefcase and walked over to the Lieutenant President's limousine. One hour later, she was en route to Osaria and a new phase of Sarzo-Omzian relations was about to begin.

The Comrade Foreign Minister, Boris Herslov had immediately packed his clothes and other things when he had received the message from the Omzian Foreign Ministry. He would have to let the newly "elected" Comrade Commissar Governor give the speech about Scandavian human rights crimes. Within hours Herslov was onboard a top security civilian contractor with an airforce escort, zooming off into the night to the closest ally of the Commonwealth, the Omzian Democratic Republic.

[OOC: omz, you may want to make a thread with the title relating to a diplomatic visit, it could encourage more people to come.]

OOC: Hogsweat, thanks for the idea. However, it might get a bit spammy, and the RP itself is part diplomatic, part story. /OOC

Converted Hangar, Hongaz Omazee International Airport

"Thanks," a freshly young but an equally more muscular man said, his face bearing the marks of an experienced infantry officer, as he took the reception of the cup of hot liquid from another man bearing the same olive uniform that he bore. Swearing lightly at the pains caused by the hot, dancing molecules, he held it firmly, and wafted slightly. "Canned soup. Now, I'm all filled up, lieutenant. You want it? You look a bit hungry lately."

The lieutenant, who sat beside the older man, trying to relieve his neck from the uncomfortness of the tightly-knitted collar, shook his head. "No thanks, captain. Don't feel too well lately."

"Oh?", the captain turned his head with a surprising emotion.

The lieutenant didn't wait for the captain to complete the whole process of his facial gesture. "You know."

"I know what?", the captain replied, now impatient in his tone with his body now sat up against the hard seats of the ventilated hangar.

The lieutenant sighed. "Nevermind."

"Nevermind, lieutenant?", the captain's reply now turned into more of a bark than anything else. "Look, I know that this doesn't conform to your views. But we are simply men who will take orders. When the Marshal sends a congratulatory message to our column, you yell feverishly as if a god-like figure has greeted you. When the Marshal barks the order to start the parade, you will follow me. You will perform them perfectly - I've said this before, lieutenant. Don't f-ck this up - if you do, then I'll f-ck up your ass 'till it rips apart. I know that you are capable enough not to do that. Understand?"

The lieutenant nodded, seemingly trying to recover from the shock received from his usually-friendly company commander. He turned his head, and silently trimmed his fingers against the single row of medal ribbons.
