News for Monday, October 10, 2005
Good evening, I’m Livius Helvutum, and this is IBC News.
Our top story tonight:
Border Extention Plan Approved by Senate
The vote took place in the Imperial Senate today on the issue of the border extension of Barrow Sea colony Cahamina. Opposition in the Senate has been firm for as long as the issue has been considered, claiming that a 170-mile border extension into the Camel Desert was, "A call for lawlessness." Many Senators were against this because of the "Useless desert land" and the fact that it would be to hard to govern, and would be a haven for criminals. However, the Senators that voted for the issue claim that someland is arable, and that it is not a large enough land extension for it to be difficult to police. The issue was passed by a 139-71 margin.
Shooting in Forum kills 11, injures 29
Reports say that two men bearing AK-107 automatic rifles opened fire on pedestrian passerby on District Avenue near noon today. Nearly 8 people had been killed and two dozen injured before three civilians reportedly wrestled them to the ground and disarmed them; several shots were fired while the five men fought. 33 people were rushed to Beltway Hospital where 4 died from their injuries. The two men were detained and are to be tried next Sunday. The two men are being held without bail, and were identified as Fracius Derema, and Gaius Marcularum. No motive has been discerned, and police do not suspect terrorism.

Description of Weather
There are no major weather events occuring on mainland Comatica at this time. The high pressure system has moved off into the northern Barrow Sea, and a warm front approaches Tarinholtz and Kassvaline. Another low pressure system, albeit reletively weak, will bring blustery weather to northwest Comatica, and a cold front attached to the northern end of the warm front will droop the temperatures near Middle Plains.
Meanwhile, in tropical news, Hurricane Nualla Has strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane much quicker than expected. Now has sustained winds of 135 mph (217 k/h), a central pressure of 946 millibars, and with gusts to 150 mph (241 k/h). Nualla is also accelerating, moving at 17 mph (27 k/h), which means that impacts could spread well inland once it makes landfall. Landfall is expected just south of Cordentellena early morning Saturday. Nualla is expected to strengthen even further.
