DUBAI-The Elephanti government proposes an Earth II Olympic Committee, to regulate and run International Olypmic Games. We will maintain temporary headquarters in Dubai, until a permanent location is found. Nations submitting locations for the coming summer games should inform the community here.

Celtayoshi proposes Toronto as a site for the Summer Olympic games.

We would also like to become a member of the Olympic Committee. Celtayoshi has a lnog a proud sporting history, not only in our national sport, but in many events, both Summer and Winter.

A full proposal listing for the City of Toronto to hold the first Olympic Games will be coming very soon.

The Empire of Cotland would like to submit the city of Lillehammer to the Olympic Comittee when it comes to the winter olympics.

The primary reasons for our admittance of Lillehammer are due to the geographic location, which is near both large flat areas and hills and mountains, making it the ideal area for the many events that will be competed in.

Also, due to the size of Lillehammer and its relative closeness to Gardermoen Int'l Airport, the athletes and viewers will have easy access to the events, getting to live virtually on top of the arenas, which are also relatively new (newer than 10 years) already in place. All it would take for us to do is to upgrade them to the latest standards, which shouldn't take too long.

That concludes our presentation of Lillehammer as a contender for the next Olympic Winter Games.

The Empire of Cotland would also like to request admittance into the International Olympic Comittee (IOC), as we Cots are a very sporty people in general and able and willing to participate in many sporting events.

Toronto Summer Olympic Games

Toronto is the ideal city for the Olympic Games to be held in. Set on beautiful Lake Ontario it is a bustling modern city in the very heart of Celtayoshi. Toronto is a truely international venue, with millions of tourists every year visiting our city. Access is no problem, Pearson International Airport is already amongst the largest in the world, and Air Celtayoshi has flights to almost every major destination in the world. Upon arrival an efficient, clean and modern public transportation system opens up the whole of Toronto and beyond. To those who wish to drive into Toronto, the new Younge Street, which runs across Canada shall be open in time for the games. Not only that, but Toronto is one of the few cities that can offer luxurous and yet affordable hotels and accomodations to suit all Olympic Enthusiasts.
Within Toronto itself most of the venues exist for sporting events. Our pride is the Toronto International Stadium, a 150,000 all seated venue with capacity for track and field events. For other sports the Celtayoshi National Indoor Pool has a 10,000 capacity, of which 2,000 are seated, whilst our Tennis Courts are grass based, providing a traditional experience for all participants. Cycling, Basketball and other similar indoor sports all have their own modern stadia in Celtayoshi, and each is due to undergo massive refurbishment in time for the games. The Equestrian Centre is located in the suburbs of Toronto, but by the time of the Olympic Games there will be frequent bus and subway services connecting it to the rest of the venues. Outdoor team sports such as Football and Hockey will take place in the Celtayoshi International Stadium, a 175,000 all seater stadium located right on the waterfront.
Our Olympic Village shall expanded to facilitate the large number of atheletes. These are modern facilities located less than 1km from the stadium. Toronto last hosted a major sporting event 2 years ago, when the annual Celtayoshi Summer Games was held in Toronto. As such we feel this gives our city the edge over its compeditors.
Unfortunately we must always be prepared for accidents, and rest assured Toronto will be prepared. Our Officials are fluent in at least two languages, most commonly English, French, German and Cottish, although all participating nations can rest assured that at least 5% of the Officials shall be able to speak your language. This also extends to our Health Care system, should any people require medical attention. We also have a highly efficient Police Force, who are both polite and able to offer help to anyone who requires it.

This concludes the Toronto presentation for the Summer Olympics.

Im fine with Toronto. Celtayoshi, do you want to be the (at least temporary) head of the committe?

Also, I would be careful about claiming you will have 5% of officials speaking a language. For example, how many Telugu speakers do you have? How many of the officials have heard of Telugu? (Its a language common in my Indian provinces) You might want to narrow down the list. English, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, most Romance languages, German, Mandarin, Japanese, and other fairly common languages might be possible to have a 5% guarantee. The language below are less likely:

Plus a slew of African languages, or if someone has their national language like Aztec or Assyrian or something crazy like that.

So, how will we determine the site for the olympics? It seems Celt is running un-opposed for the summer time. I'm fine with that. For the winter, it would be very time consuming to vote each time, how bout the person who gets it the first time can choose amongst the rest who have not gotten a chance where the next site will be next time.

OOC: I think we should get a forum on Layartebs forums where members of the IOC get to vote over the city they feel is the best choise for the Olympics.

ooc: For the first time, or each time? If someone is really good at hosting them sure. And how often will we hold the olympics (RL time?)

Dammit this is propaganda lol, 5% of officials speak a language that has a population over certain amounts speaking it (the usual ones you pointed out) and a certain number of particpants speaking that language. If you expect them to talk Telugu then erm, well, all we suggest (OOC that is) is to bring a dictionary! (The IC response is: "We will attempt to accomodate your needs as best as possible).

As for being head of the committee, well, I would be honoured to accept, but in the interests of fair competition with the other competing cities (if there are any) I think that chair should be handed to a nation not competing for the games, and thereafter the chair falls to the host of the previous games, with the headquaters being stationed in one city (say Dubai since you proposed it first).

As for Cotlands proposal for Layarteb Forum voting, yup, that sounds good.

PS: For obvious reasons Caledonia will be denied entry to any Toronto Games.

We should get a list of the events so we don't forget any (don't need to RP all of them, just put up the most popular.)

Ok this might be jumping the gun a bit, but how exactly are winners in the Olympics suppose to be determine. Is it a roll of the dice, free for all rp, rock paper scissors, guess the magic number, or is it just big bad empire crashes smaller puny states

Hmm, there is a really complicated way that takes time to establish. Its to do with rankings, if you check the general forum, where they do the World Cups, they have a system. Now, obviously since we can't do that we shall have to arrange some other method. I think we should find out what sports are in and work from there. Probably just do it by some damn good rp...

Dubai can become the permanent HQ for the Olympics. It is the most tourist friendly and modern city in my country (Part Riyadh, part Vegas, part NYC)

The only problem would be the plague victims that will soon reach the city.

For deciding on cities, Lays forum probably would be best. Perhaps make an announcement saying "nominations for hosting the 1st Olympic games ends X." then, allow a while (MESC has a 10 day voting window) for people to get on, read the announcement, and vote.

Yes, plague never good.

As far as the plague goes for me I intend to have a number of isolated cases, mostly business men travelling in to Celtayoshi. It will probably spread to immediate family, but as soon as it is detected, erm, well, the response will be ... swift ... to put it mildly (human rights activists take note)
