Sovereign Arbiter Tannen found dead in Porell City!

PORELL CITY, TANNEN-DISTRICT (TannenIntel) - Sovereign Arbiter Peffe Tannen has shot to death this morning. The late Arbiter suffered from two high-calibre bullet wounds to the skull before he collapsed to the ground. Immediately he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors were unable to resuscitate the leader. Peffe Tannen was pronounced dead from bullet wounds to the brain at 5:14 A.M., Common Sucellan Time. The murderer is at large, and High Chancellor / Intermediary Arbiter Wolfgang Rosenthal has posted a bounty of 20,000,000 Sucellan Marks on the killer. TannenIntel believes the killer to be about 180 cm tall with a muscled body, wide shoulders, and weighing anywhere from 150 to 230 lbs. News will be delivered as it arrives.


OOC: Okay, this is the beginning of the big fall I've had planned, so stick with me on this one. Some rules: No declaring war on me yet. No, you will not capture the murderer, he's going to be a primary character in this story arc's development. I'm FT, but this is open to all techs.

Newly elected President of the Allied Provinces, Dante Atticus made a statement today in regards to the assasination of Tannenmille's leader. In wake of this tragedy many questions have risen.

"My heart goes out to the family of Peffe Tannen. I want to make it clear that the Allied Provinces stands by Tannenmille and will lend it's support in finding the assasin and the conspirators of this evil act. This comes just a little more than a month after the end of the Dan-Tannenmille War. It should be known that we still respect the Peace Agreement."

So what's happening next?

OOC: Do you need someone to be the assassin or something? We have very good assassins; or at this point is it people wandering in and diplomatically going "OH NOES!" ?

OOC: I already have the assassin, sorry. It's only going to be diplomacy for this first stage until enough people respond, and then I'll delve into the next phase of the arc.

NATIONAL SENATE (Emergency meeting)

The Deputies have been called in for an emergency session of the National Senate. The Deputies grumble about what will happen now that the leader of Tannenmille is gone.

Deputy Tybalt: "We must do all we can to assist Tannenmille. This incident could cause great upheavel in the world. This could be more than a lone gunman, it might be a conspiracy! If so, then we must also keep our eyes on the Tannenmille Goverment."

Deputy Arca: " Deputy Tybalt is right, this could be the first act in a coup de ta to overthrow the Tannenmille Goverment. This is a most dangerous situation. Esccpecially if this is a coup de ta. Then the question of a military response if the new leader is hostile."

Deputy Kelso: "We cannot speculate anything at the moment. The Department of Intelligence should contact Tannenmille Authorities in finding the gunman and/or conspirators."

Deputy Tybalt: " Then we will see how deep the rabbit hole goes."

President Atticus paced about the room while meeting with his cabinet. The gravity of the situation could be felt but not completely.

"This could be any number of radical groups. Possibly Finnish radicals seeking indepencdence or Iberians who believe they got a rotten deal after the war. Dammit! Anything could be happening. Where do we stand?"

"Mr. President, we cannot speculate about anything. As of now the military is on alert but we have no reason to believe that there will be a war. The DI has begun looking into the incident."

I had the pleasure of meeting him in person at the Portshire Convention hosted by Truitt, and I was struck by his dynamic personality and well-honed skills as a leader. His death is a great loss to our nation, as well as our fellow members of the Saharistan War Coalition. Flags across Halberdgardia will fly at half-staff for one week in honor of the late Sovereign Arbiter Tannen. Our nation mourns with the people of Tannenmille. Wouldn't Tannen have had a detachment of body guards to protect him? It hardly seems like the leader of a nation would be walking by himself and gunned down.

OOC: Dan: Yes, all Sovereign Arbiters have about 7-9 Stormtroopers guarding them at any given time. More at the Palace. But Stormtroopers don't do very well of deflecting a sniper shot from a rooftop.

I seem to have gotten a letter that you were attempting to send to the family of S.A. Tannen. I must inform you that all mail attempting to get to the family of the late Arbiter redirects to my office for security reasons. I will let his survivors know of your sympathy and kind words, and if they so wish they will write a letter in response. It is expected that Tofov Tannen, Arbiter Tannen's only son, will be taking the throne before the end of the month. My thanks are given to you personally for your kind words about a wonderful Arbiter and excellent friend. He will be sorely missed in Tannenmille, and we will bring his murderer to justice.

Tofov Tannen Storms the Throne

PORELL CITY, TANNEN-DISTRICT (SGN) -- At 7:00 A.M. Common Sucello Time, Tofov Tannen, the son of late Sovereign Arbiter Peffe Tannen, marched into the Arbitral Palace at the heart of Porell City leading 500 Stormtroopers in a show of power. High Chancellor Rosenthal has met with the other members of the Chancellory, and has chosen to relinquish the Arbitral title to Tofov formally within the week.. In a speech at the Arbitral Palace, Sir Tofov said regarding his father's demise, "We must find and punish the responsible parties. I am in talks with the Council of the Governance and Parliament to form the Divinity of the Governance. We will be stronger! We will fight harder! And we will avenge my father's death!" Travel to and from the Governance has been restricted and no ships are allowed to enter Tannenmillian Terran territorial waters or airspace.

In other news, Suceloforce, the Sucellan Space Navy, has been recalled to Sucello. It is expected that by the end of the week all 2,000 ships of Suceloforce will be in the system.

President Atticus sat into his chair upon hearing of the transition. He blew a sigh of relief but knew that anything could still happen.
"I believe Tofov will hold the same views of his father and that there isn't any threat from him. Though, we should stay vigilant and keep an eye on High Chanselor Rosenthal. I don't quite trust him."

Deputy Tybalt poured some bourdon "Yes, but it is odd that he would allow Tofov to take the thrown. Maybe he is still moving some pieces around on the chess board."

"We can only watch and hope that Rosenthal is not part of this conspiracy if there is one. If we're lucky, it would've been just a lone crazy gunman."

"Tofov seems to be just as strong as his father. He marched 500 troops into the palace." Atticus said.

"He did that to secure his rightful place. It's possible that he suspects that there is an conspiracy as well?" Tybalt grunted.

President Atticus poured himself a glass and stared out the window. " Maybe Rosenthal is giving Tofov the power due to 500 troops storming the palace."

Bounty Issued! Chancellory Found Guilty


Tofov Tannen ran down the halls of the Arbitral Palace, with 25 Stormtroopers following him. He had just gotten out of a meeting with the Council of the Governance and Parliament, during which he had determined that the Chancellory was guilty of the murder of the late Sovereign Arbiter Peffe Tannen.

'Thirteen more doors,' Tofov counted to himself as he sprinted down the exquisitely decorated hallways toward the office of High Chancellor Wolfgang Rosenthal. "Seven of you go ahead of me and break down his door!" Tofov shouted.

'Six doors.'

'Two doors.'

'One door.'

Within seconds the Stormtroopers had the door splintered into the room. Wolfgang was not there. "Damnit all! You stupid bastards didn't get to him in time, and now my father's murderer has escaped!" Tofov screamed, turning to all the soldiers around him. "You! Give me your gun, you stupid sonofabitch! You're as guilty as the Chancellory!" The Stormtrooper did as he was told, and handed the weapon to the Sovereign Arbiter. Tofov scowled. "For this crime, I sentence you all to death." With that, Tofov opened fire on all the surrounding Stormtroopers.

Panting heavily, Tofov looked around at the bodies of those he had just executed. Setting the gun down, he walked over to the desk and picked up a hastily scrawled note that apparently had been written by Wolfgang.

"To the Pig Tofov Tannen:

We know you killed your father. The Chancellory has escaped, and we will return with an army double the size of Airgtheforce. Your 'Divine' Governance will fall, and you with it. I look forward to the day that I see your ugly fucking head on a pike on the lawn of the Arbitral Palace, with your body chopped into a thousand pieces and given to the citizens of the Sucellan Governance to play with. I shall see you in Hell, Tofov.

Tofov shook with rage as he finished reading the message. His knuckles were white in his anger, and he screamed otherworldly as he tore the note into hundreds of paper shards. He stormed out of the room, golden capes flowing behind him majestically as he stepped over the corpses of Stormtroopers.

With the message transmitting, SG-441 sped off away from Sucello, towards the deep, crushing abyss of space.


OOC: And so it has begun, the beginning of the end. The Chancellory has escaped, and any nation may welcome them in, but I will choose from all the nations that will accept them in the one nation that they do escape to.

President Atticus made a statement today in regards to the latest developments in the assasination of Tannenmille's leader. Rosenthal has sought safe haven in any nation that would aide him. Though we know not the extent of the information but we believe they have evidence that proves Tofov killed his own father to take the thrown.

"The Allied Provinces will allow Rosenthal and the other cabinet members to seek refuge inside our country. They are considered political refugees and do not in any way go against the treaty. We will not speculate on anything at this time but rest assured, we will find the truth."

They killed my father and attempted to state a coup d'état to instate their meddling ways as law of Tannenmille! This is completely unacceptable, and I will not stand for it. I am giving the orders to my High Generals to fortify the borders between our nations heavily. My aircraft will fly routine patrols over your nation to make sure you are not mobilizing forces against me. I will blockade your nation navally if I have to! If any citizens or military personnel from your nation attempt to cross onto my soil, they will be shot! I will display their corpses personally from my bedroom window as a symbol for those that dare let my father's murderers escape!
