The founding of the Imperial Dynasty, open to all (semi-future tech)

The Imperial Dynasty

Hi! I've been hanging around Nationstates for years, but due to recent defence commitments was forced to ditch my last nationstate as I have been on training or deployment for the last nine months. So, without further ado... I bring to you the beginnings of my new thread which, surprise, surprise, allows you to play a part in the founding of my nation!

For your information as well, the level of technology is something along the lines of semi-future tech. So while there will be laser rifles and whatnot, do not expect them to be featuring prominently as frontline troop weapons... they're too valuable to be just given to any grunt! (Especially when most of them require machine-time *this storylines equivalent of hand made!*)

The Imperial Dynasty has its origins through the remnants of what was once an even greater empire, simply recalled in history books as 'The Old Empire'. However, this empire has, over the years, fallen apart into seperatists groups after an especially violent attack from a now forgotten adversary that swung from the west and came up from the southern reaches of the old empire...

TOPOGRAPHY:

The Imperial Dynasty is located in a HUGE area. The nation it is being born from controls almost 25% of the planetary surface, with the other 75% being fought over by other, smaller groups, or being left aside as being inhospitable... even if you may be looked at strangely for telling those who live their that!

The topography of the area being looked at is similar to that of what one would expect from a nation of such size... it has everything!

To the North lies the nations main national water claims, this area has a number of vast and valuable islands along the coast of the nation, with further territorial claims also weilding valuable minerals or providing distinctive tourist vacation spots... there are even a few grounds that were under military control as security points and as jump-off points for further exploration of the unknown lands further north, where only satellite imagery has returned. Despite this relatively unknown area, tourism, commercial industry and argiculture have been roaring in development, even after the collapse of the old empire, as this area suffered little due to this bar a change in not having to send its taxes further to the west...

To the South, the land is the opposite to the lush tropical jungles and island chains... instead, after having crossed the huge Spineback mountain range, the tourist enters the wastelands of old.

This is where the past nation fell in a wind of atomic and chemical fire. The armies that destroyed the old empire were in turn destroyed here by the remnants of those they seeked to annihilate in turn. However, the use of high yield nuclear weaponry and millions of tons worth of chemical agents has absolutely decimated the biology of hundreds of thousands of kilometres of land - creating a desert more barren than anything nature could provide, with the exception of a few areas that are now secluded oasis', from what was once lush agriculture style land and simple bushland...

That was some hundred odd years ago as far as Dynasty's historians know, yet the scars still exist for all to see.

However, once, or more likely, if the examiner managed to reach the other side they would find themselves again in tropical jungle areas, the land having long become accustomed to its new boundaries.

To the West and towards the opposite coast is a great devide of natural desert and scrubland, with the occaisional jagged mountain range thrown in once in a while. This area however, does not suffer from the constant miasma of toxic radioactive leftovers and sludge that has seeped into the very earth itself, and as such is actually rather lush in comparison to its man made equivalent much further to the south.

Here there is a large crater from an ancient meteor impact, and a few cities abandoned by the natives of the land when the old empire forced them to integrate some three hundred years earlier, they have since began to return to their homegrounds in small numbers.

Despite having a desert and all, this area also has one of the largest rivers within the territories, as such, a damming project was started by the old empire, but this was left quarter finished after the collapse. This was to be used as a substitute for the great lake that already exists in the desert itself, as seeing that lake full was often a rare occurence.

And it's natural counterpart, lake Maquor (http://cp.junctionworld.com/websystem/readwritedel/0271/Emu%20Rocks%20Lake%20Eyre.jpg)

Further west still is the end of the land owned by the old empire. This land is also coastline, although much fewer islands exist on this side, with another main land mass having a small old empire outpost... not surprisingly this too was overrun in the collapse by the enemy armies. This area, and the coast before it, also have the largest collection of cities and people within the area, and its industrial might is still relatively intact, making it the industrial hub of what was the old empire. Even if most of the old empires mining operations in the desert were wilfully abandoned after the collapse...

The final section... the East, is pretty much the melting pot of the different terrain types, it is where the Spineback ranges that cut off the southern wastelands begin, the jungle ends here and begins to make way for the scrub and natural desert, and here the examiner will find a vast majority of the tougher types of jobs, the likes of animal farming, mining and other heavy duty jobs are found more to these areas.

So, that's the topography of my land, and boy is it big! If you are interested just say so!

Continuing on, I will now move to explain the groups that are in the area.

The Imperial Dynasty: My empire, so I get this one ;)

Recently founded, the Imperial Dynasty has control of a relatively small tract of land along the Spineback mountain range, allowing it access to both the Northern and eastern areas. A much smaller bit of territory makes up a portion of western territory claimed after local Raider warlords were 'removed' by the Imperial Dynasty's assassins.

The Dynasty is currently under the rule of its leader who hopes to eventually make a peaceful and pleasant nation that will bring about stability to the troubled region.

Military capacity of the Imperial Dynasty is kept mostly to a small production run of medium capacity battle walkers, a few heavy tanks, artillery and the current infantry. A small naval and air arm help to provide a well rounded force for self defence and limited offensive operations to curb raider attacks within Imperial territories.

However, the Imperial Dynasty faces challenges from a number of forces...

First is the evil Fourth Reich, who are stern believers in Eugenics, and due to their own extreme genetic and cybernetic modifications, now believe themselves superior to all other humans... they have a large presence in Old Empires western regions, and have built a powerful army with the goal of global conquest in mind.
They rely mostly on brute strength to simply smash through the opposing lines...

The Fourth Reich is also home to a massive armoured corps, and an equally impressive mech corps. It will be tough times ahead should they decide to cause troubles.

However, this is only one side in this struggle... the others will be announced shortly!
