Well I've decided to put down as much of my stats and infromation in one spot. Eventually I'll get it on a website but for now here it is.

It will take some time to get it all worked out and it will be very haphazzard. So please comment on what I post in here.

The yields on your starship weaponry are insane. Truthfully, I would suggest toning them down a bit, three orders of magnitude for each level or firepower should be good (like the double broadside of that dreadnought would be in the teratons, not the petatons, etc etc).

EDIT:

Or at least two, I'm being serious about how insane a 250 petaton broadside is.

Yes, the yields are insane. However, they need to be that large for the ships to fulfill their design parameters. The Nightingale-class was designed specifically to counter other super-capital vessels and to knock down planetary shields.

Also you misunderstood my stats. A "double broadside" as you call it ( I call it a broadside as the ship is capable of firing all of its ultra-heavy guns forward) is in fact 68 exatons. Each barrel of the ultra-heavies dual turrets has a max yield of 500 petatons not that the whole broadside is 500 petatons.

So my yields are in fact much insaner than you thought, though still necessary for the role.

Weapons of Extremely Massive Destruction

All of the weapons previously mentioned have the capability to be scaled up to extreme. This is defined as the ability to destroy a rocky planetoid of 1000km diameter or greater.

The current list stands at the following

Nightingale-class Star Dreadnaughts

These fall into the low end of the WEMD scale. Six are currently in existence.

Planned Planetary Destruction Device

Essentially a platform housing a giant compound primary canon. Based on the same idea that gave birth to the Death Star, the beating heart of this ship would be a 20km diameter reactor generating an amazing 4x10^36 Watts of power at maximum, one thousand times the reactor power of the first Death Star.

This would allow it to build a planetary shield defeating, planet destroying blast in twenty-five seconds. However most of that energy goes to propulsion and shielding, which means that a planet destroying blast would in practice take several minutes to charge.

You may want to consider replacing the stated yields with calcable events, similar to what Saxton did in the ROTS: ICS. Instead of the highly contraversial 200 gigaton turbolasers, he gives a frigate the ability to melt a 2,000 kilometer diameter ice planetoid, which actually gives a much higher yield, but less people complain about it because they don't know how to do the calcs. :p

^Going off memory here, so some of the numbers may be wrong. You'll get the gist of it though. :p

Just some friendly advice, since people call me a wanker merely because I have planetary-destruction weapons that are less powerful than the death star. (Not that I'm denying their assertions, mind, because I am a wanker :D,) but I know a lot of people frown on excessively high yields as 'RP killing' and such. Besides, people are more likely to be impressed by a little IC snippet of one of these weapons being used, without mention of the yield, than they are of a number like 'fifty petatons' or something, which they probably can't even understand and will just cause them to jump to the conclusion that it's stupid tech-wank because it's so much more powerful than any modern weapon/weapon they possess.

Or, you can do what I do and scale weaponry to the threat, so that you can interact with NFT (Near Future-Tech) and UFT (Uber Future-Tech) without having to point out that your lightest point defense weapons would vaporize their strongest battleship. ;)

And by the way, It's always a treat to read your pro-SW posts. :)

Indeed. I tend to do that in RPs, but for my factbooks and the like I prefer having the exact figures for my own use.

I do tend to scale my self to RPs. Instead of sending my powerfull ships I'll send a few weak ones that they can take out if they try really hard sort of thing.

And thanks for the compliment on pro-SW posts. I do try.:p

Low crew density of starships is the result of the starship's AI. These AIs control the ship's vast army of repair and service robots, which dwell in the areas of the ship not often frequented by the human crew.

Thus the normal inhanited section of the ship is quite small when compared to the rest of the ship's volume. This gives the illusion of high crew density despite the fact that it is still quite low.

Note: Interior of Confederate vessels resemble those of Halo vessels in terms of crew density and style. Which means you'll run into people most of the time but you won't be crowding like in a Nimitz-class.

The following is a simulation of what would happen if a Nightingale-class Star Dreadnaught fires a full broadside into a planet.

Working Principles
of
Confederate Weapon Systems

Energy Weapons

Confederate energy weapons are composed of a beam of exotic massless particles. As such the beam travels at c while a particle tracer travels slightly behind the main beam at .0001% less than c. The tracer beam is optional.

Firing time: .01 second

Missile Weapons

The Confederacy fields many different kinds of missile weapons. The two primary missiles are KE impactors and Annhilation warheads.

KE impactor missiles are accelerated to 1x10^-5% beneath c by the launcher. This gives them an effective yield greater than their mass-energy. The explosion is however omni-directional.

Annhilation warheads annhilate an amount of matter then focus the explosion forward in a 2 degree cone. While less powerfull then KE impactors this focused blast causes far more damage.

Demographics of the Confederacy

Population by species

Human: 74%
Bowman's Wolf*: 25%
Bowman's Jaguar: .3%
Bowman's Falcon. .5%
Bowman's Shark: .1%
Other: .1%

Human

Taxonomic classification: Homo sapiens sapiens

Average Lifespan: 480 years

Species Information: Homo sapiens sapiens is the dominant species in the Confederacy and has been since its foundation. The current generation of H.s.sapiens has inherited the benefits of nearly 50,000 years of genetic engeneering and is more resistant to disease, radiation and has had their lifespan tripled from what was once thought of as the maximum human lifespan. H.s.sapiens fall into any spectrum and personality and are adept at any field or occupation they work towards.

Bowman's Wolf

Taxonomic classification: Canis rufus sapiens

Average Lifespan: 486 years

Species Information: Canis rufus sapiens was the first widely succesfull genetically engineered sapient. The social habits of their base species Canis rufus allowed members of C.r.sapiens to easily join H.s.sapiens culture and society. Their keen sense of smell gives them a unique perspective on life that most H.s.sapiens find refreshing. Like members of H.s.sapiens, C.r.sapiens can excell at anything they put their minds too.

Bowman's Jaguar

Taxonomic classification: Panthera onca sapiens

Average Lifespan: 413 years

Species Information: Arguably the least succesfull engineered sapient P.o.sapiens has a population as large as it does simply due to the fact that it has been around only slightly less than C.r.sapiens. Despite many milenia of acclimatization most members choose to live apart from society, unlike their engineered brethren. While as diverse as any sapient, this attitude seems to have become a meme among P.o.sapiens and you'll find most of them living in isolated colonies.

Bowman's Falcon

Taxonomic classification: Falco peregrinus sapiens

Average Lifespan: 304 years

Species Information: Despite the stereotype most Falco peregrinus sapiens are not pilots. While their avian ancestry does grant them superior eyesight and spatial awareness invidiual F.p.sapiens are as diverse as humans.

Bowman's Shark

Taxonomic classification: Carcharodon carcharias sapiens

Average Lifespan: 267 years

Species Information: The most recent genetically engineered sapient in the Confederacy, C.C.sapiens was created to utilize the vast resources available in the oceans of Confederate orbitals and planets. Their ability to survive underwater without specialized equipment has allowed oceanic resource development to skyrocket due to decreased cost.

*I took this concept from the webcomic Freefall. The other "Bowman's" species are my own derivatives of that idea. I do not claim to be the creator of the Bowman's Wolf in any way.

It's a chance for nations to post up their stuff and people can get a look at it.

Just about anything really. Anywhere from your species biomechanics, to the largest, most powerfull, most secret starship/military base in your nation. Of course, the higher the information, the higher the security. Stuff like that.
