Hell breaks loose in Darvainia

Darvainia
05-10-2005, 00:49
The Somewhat-Seeing Eye (an international Darvainian news paper) reports:

Earlier this month Wolfstein Beber had announced budget cuts in defense spending, however when the bill reached his desk and he signed, he could never have guessed the hell that would break loose. While more than 70% of the budget was directed toward military, the drastic cut bankrupted the Darvainia military, and brought the arms race to an abrupt end. The equipment, bases, and personnel were spared any damage, but have been taken over by gangs of thugs and private militia. General Whitemuenster, the commanding general and secretary of defense was outraged at the cut, "I could understand a cut in our inflating budget, but for god's sake this is ridiculous. We have no way to support our troops, maintain our bases or anything...private fundraisers won't do." he said weeks ago.

The militias were enraged too, to find out they would not be paid for their enlistment to Darvainia's military forces. Meanwhile with absolutely no funding for police or military forces, all hell has broken loose in Darvainia, and extreme anarchy has broken loose. The nation however, has maintained some order in certain region. In the north a group of Libertarians, with the help of private militias have maintained order and establish control over the territory. Their ideals are ones of small government, personal freedoms. "We just want to have Darvainia be the way it was...free and perfectly free." said their leader, the former head of Parliament George Blorgenson. "We will not let a bunch of commies and facists, and religious fundamentalists take over this nation...not on my watch."

Meanwhile in the south Reverend Greg Berson of the Conservitive Christain Church has different ideas. "These people have legalized drugs, sodomy, and human embryo cloning, it is terrible the way our nation has gone. We want God back in Darvainia, and as his fighters we will show the nation His power!", so in the south the fundamentalist theocratic movement has taken control. Meanwhile in the background protestors burned symbols and tore down buildings the government set up for the New Age movement.
"May our government support these idols no more!!" protestors cried.

In the mideast communist gangs have forced order on the people, and will fight for social equality, welfare, healthcare, and the dismantling of major corporation and private enterprise. "Some people call it communism," said Doug Reefer. "I call it caring, and together we call it socialism at it's very best...'to each according to his need, and from each according to his ability!" he cried to a cheering crowd.

And finally in the west, we spoke to the main leader there. Reid Glucky, the benefactor of this fiasco. Reid Glucky was minister of finances and commerce, and when the defense budget was destroyed the department of commerce got the money, which Glucky was able to launder. "Look," said Glucky, while swimming in a pool of goldcoins in his brand new mansion, which he built over a poor neighborhood after evicting hundreds. "I'm going to win this because I am wise, smart, and strong...oh yeah and rich! This is going to be dictatorship, and if these people don't like, they can become my garden lamps...did I tell you i admire Nero of Rome? Great guy! Anyway, the people will be lucky if I don't rename Darvainia "Reidland" or "Glucky country" or something...what do you think.

Wolfstein Beber, former Chief Representative is pleading for international aid as his nation sinks into anarchy and civil war. "People of Darvainia...and people of the world..." he announced, but those were his final words before a grenade landed in his bunker and exploded, with the rest of his cabinet.

Message to the nation of Starnel:
"George Blorgenson thanks you for your support, but hopes it arrives soon, as over a thousand communists and religious fanatics are marching on our lands. We've set up a barbwire fence around our compound, but that won't slow 'em down for long. Right now were dispatching five-hundred men of our own armed with shotguns, but I have feeling the weaponry is also on their side. Good luck, and thanks again for all your help, we will not forget it."

A message to all nations:
I, Reid Glucky have already built an army with my finances like Darvainia hasn't seen in a long time, however to solidify my rule, and finally centralize the authority of a once divided Darvainia once and for all, I will need the help of the international community. You may be hesitant to give me aid because of one or two ethics violations, but maybe for a couple hundred billion USD, we can work something out...

From: The Libertarian Concordance of Czardas
To: Darvainia

The Concordance is greatly saddened (albeit somewhat amused) to hear of your predicament. While we cannot provide military aid of any kind, as all of our vast military resources are currently being directed to our war against Scellia, we can offer whatever supplies and money might be necessary, ranging up to $18 billion.

"Czardas we thank you for your support and...wait...FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!"

As planned the men spread out and the grassy plain became a field of scattered battles, the tactics were carried out ingeniusly by the Libertarian freedom fighters, and using hit and run tactics they took out the first wave of 100 men, all wearing cross necklaces, but 300 troops of the communist freedom fighters were not so easily dealt with. Mortars and grenades flew onto the fields, and nearly half of the men were wiped out before the enemy infanty arrived, and their semi-automatic weapons took out dozens more before they even knew what hit them.
"We have to hold them all day men!" their captain cried, watching in despair as his men fell like flies, finally he shouted the order for them to fall back and they hid in various spots in the trees of the forest. they were down to 100 men, and hundreds more were coming for them. But with the cover of the woods, maybe they had a chance.

The troops arrived. Slowly marching, they walked forward in their Samson Battlesuits. When word arrived the the Libertarians were under attack, a battalion of 10,000 men was sent to support the front line. The rest stayed back. The men chraged inot battle, their AR-75 Assault Rifles firing, as they charged gaps appeared in the line for the Libertarians to move back through.
Private Sabrier K'Tan's squad was at the forefront of the charge, they were they best of the new recruits. The squad saw a small unit of allied Darvainians stuck in a trench, they charged forward and fought with them, waiting for reinforcements. The two men with the Panzerfaust raised it, firing as enemy charged forward. Those that were hit were entirely destroyed. Saber mowed down a unit of commies, but they kept coming and the small unit was almost surrounded.

The communist fighting force fell by the end of the hour, and the religious fanatic were wiped out in minutes thanks to the overwhelming force of starnellian troops. However, another wave of attacks would come in time. Meanwhile the small force of armed Darvainians (or what was left of them) came out of the woods to meet their allies...
************
Meanwhile back at Reid Glucky's new mansion, he amassed a huge force, which certainly would be able to be dealt with as easily as the previous waves of attacks. He prepared the troops and made battleplans immediately to invade New Muensterburg, the capital of Darvainia. If the city fell the Libertarian movementwould be devasted, the others would crumble beneath them, and it would be a symbolic victory that could tighten his hold on the country.
*******
The captain looked around at his small, battered force of men, then at the battalion from starnell. "Whose in charge here?" he demanded of them. "I need to speak your commanding officer!"

Pull back.
Stop this unnecessary interrupting, and let the people of the Darvainia decide what is best for them... If majority supports government, it'll win and you will not bee needed, if vice versa, you are fighting against the will of the people.

Vehicles and personnel from the 9th Infantry Division were being loaded onto Air Force C-5 Galaxy transports and were being ferried to the nation of Darvainia with cover thanks to the support of Air Force F-40 Fighters. With the number of airlift aircraft available, they could deploy an entire brigade in twenty four hours, which meant they could have the entire division there in seventy two.

(Secret IC)

Major-General Alexi Westov would be deploying with the first brigade, this was the first time he was commanding a division, but he was always a capable commander, even in combat. His orders that had come through were different than the objectives outlined by the President to Darvainia. They weren't going over to supress the rebel communists, but help wrestle control of the troubled nation from the corrupt government. The President's office knew that they would have the people's support behind them, even if it wasn't immediate until they began actions against the government forces. It was only a matter of time before the citizenry of Darvainia would open their eyes.

Madnestian 1st Fleet, the main naval force of the country, consisted 3 carriers, 6 cruisers, 22 destroyers, 8 fregats and 2 supply ships. Today, it was "reinforced" by the Transport Task Force and given an order to immeadiately prepare for a long trip. Not even Admiral Yamag knew where were they going to sail, neither what would be the purpose of this. He, however, had couple of ideas. Yamag was not a stupid man, and he thought that knowing every possible detail about his navy and the port they were in was his duty. Therefore he had managed to get the Top Secret troop loading plans on his desk.

Elements of 2nd Armoured, 18th Mechanized and 1st Light division, plus four battallions of marines, were beeing moved in to the ships. According to these documents, they were all in full strength and battle gear, equipped for prolonged mission. Men of these divisions did not know any more than he did. However, one man was supposed to know what they were planning. The commander of these troops, Lieutenant General Ogur - awarded hero of the North Mack civil war - has extraordinary close relations to the ultimate top of the power in this extraordinary society that Madnestan was. The Master liked him.

The fact that the Master's favourite officer had been appointed to lead these troops made admiral to come to the inevitable conclusion: war.
His thoughts were interrupted by the knock on the door of his room. "Come in!" he shouted, and young sergeant walked in, saluted and handed over a piece of paper. Yamag gave it a fast look, nodded quietly and rose from his chair. He took the lighter from his pocket, made sure that he had read correctly the three words on the paper, and burned it.

The words kept jumping in front of his eyes, shouting in his head.

"To Darvainia, now."

EDIT: Darvainia, if any way possible, please show some kind of a map of your country... im sure it would turn to out to be quite very helpful. :)

IC:

The 1st Brigade, 9th Infantry Division had landed at an abandoned airfield just outside the capital, the combat engineers were already on the ground with the first of the combat elements working on reinforcing the base's defences. Around the different hangers, old aircraft were being pulled from them to turn them into makeshift barracks, motor pools and munitions dumps. The command elements would take the base's tower and offices and set up their communication equipment to direct the force's actions. It would still be another day and a half before they were ready for action, until then, Major-General Westov would make contact with the Darvainian command and inform them of their arrival.

OOC: Dang people, I go like two days without posting and the thread goes nuts :D, just to let you know I haven't had any problems with any of the posts here except two. One because he sent a letter to Wolfstein Beber, who was announced dead, and another because the guy said he was sending like what...? Ten million troops? That's way too much, and I'm sorry to say I must ignore such a drastic move.

IC:

The captain entered the Staric (ooc: did I get that right?) General's tent. "Sir, if you are authorized to do so, I suggest we get all our troops immediately to New Muensterburg, we have reason to believe that city is in serious danger of assault." he said, getting right to the point. "We must protect the city at all costs." he said urgently. "In either case our leader, Blorgenson, is going want to speak with whoever's in charge of your operation."
..........................................
Meanwhile a small army of radical militant religious freedom fighters was on their way to the town of "Harlos" where several communist troops were stations. When the small army of five hundred, -armed with machines guns, assault rifles, and grenade launchers- they saw the streets lined with protestors. some burning the Darvainia flag, others holding up posters of communist leaders both at home and abroad, including their own leader, Jax a philosopher and founder of the Darvainia communist party in the 1960s, and of course Karl Marx.
"Remember boys," the religious captain said to his men. "We may agree with these people on some things, but they want sodomites to get married, and they reguse to acknowledge God in the new government. We have to kill them for the sake of Darvainia's future." he said. Then he led them into battle with their cry, "God bless Darvainia!!"
The strike was efficient and brutal, explosions sounded everywhere, and the protestors began to scream and scatter. The small town tried to organize a counterstrike but their local garrison was caught off guard and disorganized, they were running about like roused ants, and falling down like flies before the might of their religious rivals. One of the men in the town scrambled to the local radio tower and sent out a transmission with the coordinates and an urgent cry for help as his town began to be bathed in flames and blood. He could only hope that someone received the transmission, and help was on the way..."
..........................................
"People of the world and of Darvainia..." George Blorgenson announced that day at a press conference. "My hope is not to fight a civil war, and kill each other for political power. My hope is for peace, so to all the nations giving us military aid, please let your aid be that. And to my fellow citizens, please do not rise up in violence against each other." he said. "Enough damage has been done enough blood spilled, instead let all the faction leaders meet together and work out a sollution, and then let the democratic process rebuild the government. Let the people decide who takes our former Chief Representative's and parliaments place." then he turned the page of his speech. "We however, can recognize one common enemy. A man we know for sure is amassing a frightening military force and seeking through military to coup to seize control of the country. He is not fighting for a cause but for himself, his aspirations are not of democracy but of dictatorship. He will only stand in the way of unity. To all the nations who want to help, the first mission that must be accomplished is the elimination of Reid Glucky, and his forces. He may have our money, and most of the former military forces under his control, but he does not have freedom and goodness, and I hope he does not have any international support." he said. "He must be stopped, and if anything is going to be achieved in rebuilding our nation, it must start with his removal from power."

Meanwhile a huge military force from Glucky's land was headed toward New Muensterburg, one perhaps even greater and larger than Darvainia's modest military ever was...

OOC edit: almost forgot, there is a map of Darvainia here, that may or may not offer some help. It is primitive and i must admit not all that great, but I made it myself :D here it is:

http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Darvainia

By the way though, the map is a little messed up, only in the placement of the capital city, which is in the north by the mountain, not the one by the coast. I will fix that when I have time...later...

The first number is police, as there is a major need for order. I didn't say troops, which is a completely seperate figure. As well, if you check my profile, Law and Order is my largest expense, so that should back up that figure. If you want less than 30 million, I'll drop it to 10 million.

The second is completely acceptable at two million troops, as in military troops.

(OOC: upon examing your population, economy, and budget placements, you may be right, I also must have misunderstood your posts. However, I agree that 30 million is too much, and I'll accept ten...the military presence might also do well with at least some cuts, it seems too drastic still...after all IRL even the nation of China only has around 3 or 4 million troops in their armed forces, and having 2 million spares to send overseas seems a little bit of an overestimation)

IC: George Blorgenson has sent the following message to the people of MES:

We thank you for your overwhelming response to this catastrophe, this favor is most unprecedented. Send your police and troops as soon as possible, but please refrain from using orbital weapons. Also with your permission, because you seem to be neutral and seeking only for peace in our nation, I would like to setup a meeting place in your nations for the other two factions of leadership to meet, so we may discuss the rebuilding of Darvainia in peace, and let democracy do the rest. I have already sent messages to both parties and they seem willing attend. With the world's help, and the resolve of our nation I am now sure we can reach a peaceful settlement. I only hope we can salvage the damage that is done, however I have the pressing concern of dealing with Reid Glucky and must attend to that before any hopes of peace is attainable. Good luck you, and again thank you for your help in this unfortunate situations. May you be free in spirit always, if not in body or mind, as our motto says. Good Day,

IC: The Office of Chairman Gary Girardi has issued a statement regarding the situation in Darvainia:

"While we understand that we have our own problems here at home, it is felt that it is necessary to uphold law and justice in other parts of the world. Furthermore, by intervening in this conflict, we break into the international scene as good people and this will help us make friends, which in turn can only benefit the nation."

Today, Mirkanan forces arrived in southeast Darvainia. Within hours a prefab base had been constructed, and Mirkanan forces have occupied a Darvainian city (which I shall dub Gradenburg).
A communist attack was repelled by sharpshooters and precision-guided missiles.
Reinforcements have increased troop numbers to 30,000. This is about .5% of the Mirkanan population. A tactical missile shield is in place around the city, and additional bases have been constructed.

Mirkana has an arsenal of EMP cruise missiles. These are now ready to be used on targets in Davaria. We await requests from other nations who could use them.

Unkown to other nations, Mirkana has begun to annex Gradenburg. The local police force has been replaced by Mirkanan military police. A census is being conducted, and the "prefab" bases are being made permanent.

OOC: Im in a damn' rush at the moment so can't possibly post a decent reply yet, but consider still as a fact that three divisions and four separate marine battalions, somewhere around 64,000 well trained and heavily equipped troops (not including the logistical personel) have landed at your South West coast, straight west from the mountain chain in there, and are heading towards the city south of the mountains.

I find it rather odd though that all of your cities are in the middle of the forest, none beeing close to your agricultural areas, not to mention rivers, like it usually is... anyways, that's a good map - no need to be ashamed!

The 50,000 strong military men from Northern Colonies landed in the grassland in many stages. Although with a military of 10 Million active troops, the force was primary heavy and it was almost impossible to transport the many MBTs needed. Nevertheless, the M3 Bradley IFV, was almost up to the task, and the men began to unpack their gear. The Commander, Major General John Bright, tooked everyone's attention

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen," he began, "Our objective here is to keep the peace, making sure we have a presence and to protect cilivian. Our ROE is, do not shoot unless shot apon or if civilian are shot upon. Alright, lets move out."

The Engineers quickly builded the base and at night, a Field H.Q had been established.

OOC: No they aren't. They're in the middle of the forest. Bright green is farmland, and there are only blue dots on those areas.

Nother thing Darvainia, you said something about this earlier, but could you now please repeat - where exactly are the rebels? What cities/parts of the nation are in their hands, who's controlling what?
Darvainia
10-10-2005, 14:57
OOC: Ack, i knew I should've referred to the map when writing this. The forests and woods can also be some cleared plains, but the areas are usually densely populated with trees. There aren't any cities in the farmland, because those contain mostly small towns, rural farmhouses, and various farming colonies. While there are a lot of them spread out there is not a cloister within the farmlands anymore worthy of being called a city or urban area.
Ok the northernmost part of Darvainia (north of the river, and near the mountain) is controlled by the central government and the libertarians.

The entire eastern half you see there (from the easternmost part until the mountain range there with the two cities by it) is controlled mostly by the communists, with only pockets of resistance to their movement, scattered about.

The south (between the two rivers and the two-citied mountain range) is controlled by religious fanatics and fundamentalists.

And finally south of the libertarian territory, in the south western area (all enclosed by the river you'll see there) belongs to Reid Glucky who would like nothing more than to set up a facist dictatorship.

If this still doesn't help I can copy the map, label it, and then post the new labelled version.

I'm thinking a labelled map would be best. It'll still be a couple days before I can post the map of my nation though (only because it's detailed). Anyways...

IC: Lt. Gen Jared Fedora released a public announcement to the people of Darvainia:

"We are here. Fear no more. Peace will be brought to you no matter what the cost. Tomorrow our final deployment will arrive and we will operations will begin as soon as they land. In order to help us help you, we ask that you remain in your homes after dark and that you refrain from protesting while our troops are in your town. Thank you for your cooperation. I am Lt. Gen. Jared Fedora, commander of the peacekeepers from the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski"

The cruise ship filled with troops lands at the Eastern-most city in Darvainia. A Sergeant yells "alright men, we're here, EVERYBODY OFF" as you hear soldiers hooting and hollering. The ramps begin to lower off the port side of the ship and troops immediately start clambering down them.
Also arriving at the same time are 2 large freighters with the Forces' vehicles. The sound of engines from small motorcycles to the largest tanks fills the air.

It will still be one day before the final deployment arrives. On that shipment will be 1000 Frontline peacekeepers, 100 Elite Guard, 2 Chinooks, 10 Skyhawks, 4 Littlebirds, 2 more frieghters, and 2 supertankers. Once they get deployed, the mission has officially started.

OOC: Dang! This forces me to change the prewiously posted situation a bit. My troops didn't land at the South West coast, but to East, at the port very close to mountains (I got the impression that is controlled by commies) so that they don't need to fight when landing. There are also Saint Fedski's troops in there, so it can be a it tricky... Let's see how it goes :p And yea, labelled map sounds neat.

IC:

Madnestian ships arrived at the Easternmost port at 8:00, just as planned. The port seemed to be in chaos, Saint Fedski's ships and troops patrolling everywhere, unloading stuff from the transports and organizing at the docks (SF correct me if anything goes wrong conserning your forces) before marching deeper in the city and inland. The First Fleet, carriers and cruisers, was left about 20-50 kilometres from the coast, as the transports escorted by several light cruisers and destroyers approached the port.

(How big is the port/city?) First ships were filled with battle hardened veterans of the 1st Marine Brigade. SF's ships gave room as the Madnestian ships conneceted to the dock and marines jumped from their ships, in full combat gear and weapons ready. In the first ships came also the leader of this expedition, officially the 2nd Combined Arms Corps; Lieutenant General Ogur. He stood there, long and tough-looking man, and his presence alone silenced the somewhat chaotic working, shouting and running around him at the overpopulated dock. His staff came with him, and started to work almost immediately. Men were sent inland to search connection with the communist's who had been already informed about this expedition. Meanwhile, others occupied a high office building in the harbour, kicking out the communist officials stationed in there (Darvainia correct me if anything goes wrong) and quickly turned it into a working HQ.

Men were also beeing sent to find the commanding officer of Saint Fedski's troops, for further discussioning about the situation and usage of the port facilities. At the same time, first Dragon I - MBT's rolled out of their nest's in the landing ships.

Official Message from Lt. Gen. Jared Fedora, Commander Saint Fedski, to Lt. Gen. Ogur Commander Madnestan. (Carried by Madnesdtan's meesnegers which found Lt. Gen. Fedora in a small farmhouse on the outskirts of town)

We shall gladly split use of the port facilities with your troops. However we require extra room tomorrow as larger ships will be arriving. Also, as we are attempting to bring peace to the region we will maintain a larger force protecting the port and attempting to maintain peace in the city. It is requested that you issue a order to refrain from fighting in the port city unless fired upon. Communist officials have agreed not to bring the war to the city. Chairman Gary Girardi (Head of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski) wished to use this city as the negotiating table. Your reply is eagerly awaited.

Ogur received the message while trying to survive under perhaps the most horrific conditions in his carreer. He was a frontline commander, fast and efficient groupd of hard-hitting troops under his rule he was a genius. This, however, was something else. He had to take care of his troops, which he considered to be the most important issue, to find shelters and storage for the equipment, organize and calculate. His staff was of course efficinet, he had hand-picked them for this mission, and the divisional commanders did great too for their own troops, but shitloads of work still fell on his shoulders.

Therefore, the message gave him a relief. He read quickly and sighed. Great! Now he had to learn diplomacy too, like this wasn't enough... "Well, he's a soldier like me. He'll understand even if I didn't make it all that official" he thought when he shouted for a translator. The message was following:

To the Saint Fedskiyan commander, Lt.General Fedora

Thank's for beeing co-operative. My landing plan was fucked up due your troops and ships in the port, we didn't expect this large consentration of forces. Not blaiming you or anything, our intelligence screwed. Anyways, this means that flexibility is needed from both of us. You can use the port for 8 hours tomorrow without any interruption from our side, but in the evening we're hoping possibility to unload quite a lot of stuff. Perhaps this kind of a system could work?

About you mission and request, that's fine with me if the native commies are ok with it too. My mission is to kick the shit out of the fascists currently ruling rest of this country, but this city and the troops of your are perfectly safe when it comes to my troops. Of course, I cannot guarantee their safety if they try to interrupt a full battles, but im sure they aren't that stupid.

Let's hope this works out.

The communists offered little or no resistance to the foreign occupation of their lands, so long as they were there to help and nothing else. They also gladly lent the use of their facilities to those they considered their new allies. Including the station set up in the large, and heavily populated port city.
......................
Meanwhile General Stuttgord led disgruntled militias, hired mercenaries, and other loyalists of Reid Glucky to the city of New Muensterburg. the numbers totaled 30,000 men in all, half of them armed with standard assault rifles, two-hundred or so armed with homemade chemical weapons, 5,000 with grenades, mortars, and other explosives, and 20 riding in heavily armoed tanks, while the rest carried shotguns and other weapons, or whatever they could find.
"Were almost there," he announced to his small group of officers. "The plan is simple, we launch the explosives and focus them on the cement walls around New Muensterburg and take out the main gate, and two other breaches in the walls. Then we pour in through two different breaches with our gunmen, but first we assault the the gate and pour into the streets with our chemical weapons. Make sure everyone has a mask...I don't want anything here screwed up ya hear?"
"Yessir!" his officers responded, before taking their positions, each with his assigned group of men.
Back in New Muensterburg George Blorgenson sat in an armchair in the parliament building, and waited for the general of Staric forces to arrive, he needed to discuss plans with whom he considered one of the more trustworthy allies in this campaign.
......................
Meanwhile no one seemed to give any aid to the small town of Harlos, everything was nearly destroyed, and less than a hundred people their escaped with their lives. Every one of them would be homeless and elave behind their posessions, some even left behind family. They would represent only be the beginning of the suffering that was to come to this nation, and the people who would need to have their lives rebuilt when this conflict was finally resolved.

"It isn't fair..." he said this morning. "People have totally taken things I've said out of context, and some have even lied about what I've said directly. For example one news paper made reference to a comment I made about Emperor Nero, saying I admired him and his human torch practices...all I really said was that my new government would be similar to his. My goal is to unite Darvainia under one, strong, central authority...me! Then we can rebuild our military greater than it was before, dismantle the private enterprises and make them government owned, nationalized industries, and we don't worry about corrutpion. Also every need is provided to everyone, therefore they won't need to complain about freedom to spend their money, cause they won't have money they'll just have what we give them. In my nation, my vision of one that is, we are powerful militarily, united economically, socially, and legally under one authority and nation, and everyone's ok. Yes I may have dispose of one or two dissenters who question my rule, and let's face it if people have too many rights they go crazy, but all in all my system everyone's happy...whether they like or not!"
Glucky refused to comment further except to thank some of the allies in the conflict. "Especially most of all, Saint Fedsky for all their help, and their protection of my cause and person...I could certainly use it. I hope they will do better at foiling assasination attempts than my own security forces did, there have been some unfortunate breaches lately...I also look forward to working with the international community further. Hopefully in time, as everyone else is hoping for, we can reach a peaceful sollution to this conflict, and my, power...err...the best system can be recognized as Darvainia's new government."
Meanwhile he went off to conduct business and send out secret orders, but he refrained from telling us just what they were and what he was doing...back to your Rick..."

OOC: Madnesti, Madnestian. Doesn't matter really, say it as you like.

IC: The staff of Madnestian Expeditionary in Darvainia, MED, together with it's commander witnessed the parade of the divisions in the Easternmost city (that's how I call it not knowing the real name) gave their parade. Troops marched in pretty good order, for Madnestian comparison. Army of this Armed Republic had never really payed attention to such minor issues, like giving a parade, but Ogur was a great fan of those. Therefore the troops now imitated the Red Army's march in Moscow in winter '41, going straight to the front after their parade.

First was the 2nd Armoured Division, with their brand new Hoplite II MBT's. These 72t monsters made the ground shake as they grumbled along the street. People cheered in sidewalks, where they were watching this magnificent view. 18th Mechanized came next, company after another. With them came also the feared artillery of the Republic, both divisional regiments plus the Independent Firesupport Brigade, 155 and 242mm artillery pieces.

1st Light division didn't take part, as it had been already sent towards the western mountains in the borders of the communist-controlled area. It was formed by mixing together three Border Guard brigades and some light recon units. It was experienced and greeted unit, proud of its elite status. It was ordered to secure the mountain passes and stretch south, controlling the border area between the north end of the mountains to the south end of the forests. Other troops were to move south from there, preparing an major offencive against the Fascist's of the south.

At this point, additional forces were also beeing shipped to the country. Around 3500 officer, NCO's and specialists like engineers were beeing sent into the ranks of the communist forces, to train and advice. Even lead.
New weaponry, like mortars, AT-missiles, machineguns and other infantry weapons plus plenty of supplies were also beeing delivered to the communist army, which was going through an intensive expansion training, and getting stronger in both quality and quantity.

OOC: Could you, Darvainia, give a bit more information about the communists? Who is leading them, how are they organized, and how many troops/ war-eager young men do they have within their ranks?

Major-General Westov watched as soldiers climbed aboard their Improved Spartan combat vehicles and left the base with Ranger II recce tanks and Incubus main battle tanks leading the column of vehicles as they made their way towards the city. The battalion was composed of three infantry companies and a tank company, its mission was to begin clearing the streets and providing a forward presence to act as a deterrent for continued fighting. AH-10 War Raven gunships with miniguns and 70mm rockets mounted on hardpoints flew overhead ready to provide close air support if the fighting became too fierce for ground forces.

First Sergeant Philips sat in the back of the combat vehicle, its cramped compartment was hot and humid since the carrier's air conditioning unit had been broken when it was brought it on the C-5 Galaxy. He was manning one of the MG55 ports on the side of the vehicle when he looked over at the platoon's young lieutenant sitting in the command seat by the Spartan's turret ring, "Damn officers, they're only going to get us killed."

2 Chinooks based on the Aircraft Carrier HES Sombra landed in the middle of the night at Reid Glucky's secret camp in the South with 60 Elite Guards. Cpt. John C. Humphry, leader of the Elite Guard detatchment to protect Ried Glucky quickly went about and sent up a makeshift HQ in an abandonded farm house on the North side of the camp.

"Sergeant, go find Lieutenant George and Lieutenant Oliver and tell them I want them here yesterday!"

10 minutes goes by before the Lieutenants show up.

"Lieutenant Oliver reporting as ordered. Sir!" snapped Lt. Oliver
"Lieutenant George also reporting as ordered sir Lt. George said calmly.
"Boys, we're here to protect the important people" Cpt. Humphry imformed his platoon leaders. "We are on a seperate ROE from the rest of the peacekeeping force and will be treated as a seperate entity. It has come to my attention that numerous attempts have been taken on Mr. Glucky's life before we showed up and rumour has it that he is targetted for assassination. I have assigned three fireteams to protect this individual. Your job is to pick the 15 soldiers you think would be most capable of stepping up to the challenge."

"Sir, my first squad, led my Sergeant Anderson, has vast experience in the protection of Very Important Persons who have been targetted for execution. I suggest that they be assigned this duty." Advised Lt. Oliver.

"Also Captain, I have some soldiers who have just as much experience as Sgt. Anderson's squad, I will inform them of their deployment right away. Is that all sir? Lt. George asked.

"Yes it is guys" Cpt. Humphry said. "Dismissed"

"Yes Sir" Both captains shouted at the same time.

Meanwhile in the ports of Abberjabber and Darvainy City, the First Quick Reactionary force continued to deploy and expand.

Six Chinook Helicopters, each loaded with thirty soldiers took off from the J'eanne D'Arc Class light aircraft carrier HES Sombra during the night and landed in and around New Munsterburg to secure government offices and strategically vital plateaus in the surrounding Munsterburg Mountains.

In Darvainy City, the rest of Col. John Day's Troop 1 has already been unloaded and is racing towards New Munsterburg at full speed aboard their ten M113A3 Armoured Personnel Carriers, six Stalwart Troop Transports, five Humvees and three jeeps. They are expected to arrive in two days.

Also deployed from Darvainy City was Troop 2, under the command of Col. Chris Lay. They arrived in the city of Val d'Or today at 1100 aboard twenty-five Humvees, ten Stalwarts, five M113A3s, three Jeeps and accompanied by five Upgraded Centurion Main Battle Tanks.

Landing in the port of Abberjabber was a tricky task for Col. Michelle McKay's Troop 3. The port is small and confined, although it does contain all the needed equipment. After finally fully deploying at 1300, the 500 soldiers of Troop 3 begun racing towards Kleepin aboard aboard five M113A3’s, twenty Humvees, thirteen Stalwarts and two jeeps. Five Upgrade Centurion Tanks will provide firesupport in Kleepin.

The first unit to get underway in Darvainia was Lt. Col. Jacob Cook's Troop 4 at 0600, a little before dawn. Within the hour after initially landing and storming Abberjabber, and with a few brief fire fights, had the port secure. 2 soldiers were killed and 10 wounded, 3 seriously. The seriously wounded were taken aboard the HES Sombra and will be med evac'd home as soon as possible. Losses to the ambushers are unknown at this time. Troop 4 and their tanks are expected to be in Brandon by dawn tomorrow. Four chinooks have been assigned to deploy an advanced company in Brandon in order to secure the city.

Troop 5 stormed and secured Darvainy City by 0800 without a shot being fired. Lt. Col. Logan McHutchion's Troop 5 will remain in Darvainy City for the duration protecting the headquarters of Lt. Gen. Jared Fedora and the port facilities.

Troop 6 with Lt. Col. Francis Henderson at the top, relieved Lt. Col. Cook and Troop 4 at 0800. They are protecting the airfield and the harbour facilities.

(OOC: sorry people, I haven't been on and haven't had time to label a map- though I will soon-, i think saint fedsky you said you had one? But it didn't show up...also people when you launch an attack specify who it's against, people keep saying facists and that would imply Reid Glucky and his troops and territory, but a few people are calling Libertarians facists -which is ironically the opposite of what a Libertarian is but that's a discussion for another board. Anyways I had a job interview yesterday, and before that I had work at my current job, and this morning I had a drug-test. So it's been a busy week. My computer refusing to cooperate in getting me into the forums isn't helping either...)

IC:

Darvainia's many cities broke down under the hammering of troops and cruise missiles. More and more people were left homeless and injured, as loved ones died. The total causalty rate including civilians and army personnel was slowly reaching the 15,000 mark, and countless more were injured or at best traumatized by the events. George Blorgenson sat in his chair restlessly, all attempts he made at peace were thwarted, and the communists seemed to grow in number each day. The freedoms and liberties Darvainia once cherished were at risk, and even if they didn't fall, thousands of young Darvainian men did.

Meanwhile Reid Glucky sat contentedly in his hot tub one night, with several women he called his new wives. Meanwhile the old wife sat in the midst of them all nearly forgotten. Lucaina, the fiest redhead she was pulled out a small blade concealed in her swimsuit.
"You don't know how much I loved you reid..." she said, her voice only heard by her husband, muffled slightly by the loud giggling and chattering of younger women. Suddenly Reid flinched and looked up in horror at his wife, a sharp pain pierced his chest. The laughter was replaced by screaming, and the hot tub was filled with the color red by the time they jumped.
"He...help..." Reid gagged and coughed up blood. Security forces detained his wife quickly, but were they in time?

OOC: Almost forgot, the current chairman of Darvainia's communist party is a man called Victor Valinchy, the movement is very loosely held together by community-minded in their areas, mostly small, scattered gangs of thugs who hold control of the lands. Also they are assisted by several thousand protestors, who seem more enthusiastic about spreading communism throughout Darvainia in a more peaceful manner. If you want to centralize the movement and more strongly unite the communists, Victor will be the man you'll have to find...however his whereabouts are currently unknown, for all they know he could be dead. But he is a resoruceful man and at worst is being held captive, but even that isn't for sure. No one know's where he is, just that he's missing...

"This is Admiral Pickering to all Darvainian forces. We are deploying supplies, our military and our police forces now to help restore order, and to bring all factions involved to the table. Please do not fire on us, or we will have no choice but to fire on you. We are on your side, all of yours."

It is freaky when one sees a military helicopter. It's scarier when a fleet of helicopters come around, guns blazing. The helicopters were nearing the city of New London.

"Captain, sir!" Shouted one of them. "We are nearing our jump points!"

"Very well," replied the Captain. "Prepare to repel."

The soldiers took to their positions, as they had trained over and over again.

"Ok," said the Captain. "Lieutenant, play that message."

The Lieutenant complied, and after pressing a few buttons, a voice started to say...

"This is the Northern Colonies Army. Please do not be afraid. We are here to protect you from harm. In a moment, soldiers will be entering your city. They are here to protect you from any danger. Please do not attempt to attack us, as we are able to protect ourselves. Please remain calm. Thank you."

The voice then went on the the translation.

"Deutsche Übersetzung," it began. "Dieses ist die Northern Colonies armee. Bitte haben Sie nicht Angst. Wir sind hier, Sie vor Schaden zu schützen. In einem Moment werden Soldaten Ihre Stadt betreten. Sie sind hier, Sie vor jeder möglicher Gefahr zu schützen. Bitte versuchen Sie nicht, uns anzugreifen, da wir in der LageSIND, sich zu schützen. OOC: Ok, a quick situation glarifying from all of us now: WHO has WHAT in WHERE.

My troops currently secure a line from the North end of the Central mountains, right bank of the river though, down to the coast.

Troops in Darvainia: 2 Armoured divisions, 1 Mechanized division, 2 light divisions and around 5000 officers, specialists and trainers in the Communist army, which (if this is ok, Darvainia) contains 12 Brigades with about 5000 - 7000 men each. They are armed, led and supplied by Madnestan but thier discipline and effectivenes in full scale battle is very uncertain.

These communist forces are mostly kept behind the "frontline", securing the already controlled area, destroying possible pockets of resistance, supported by Madnestian troops, and beeing trained.

- Aequatian 9th Infantry Division Base, New Munsterburg, Darvainia

First Sergeant Philips sat with his squad at the base's main gate behind a small sandbag machinegun post, pointing out towards the road was an MG76 7.62mm GPMG and propped up against the sandbags was the unit's SMAW launcher with a round loaded and ready to fire. One of his corporals, Penn, sat with his fireteam on the other side of the gate while Philips sat with his squad's second fireteam behind the bunker. No one without proper identification was allowed access to the base, which basically meant they were ordered to fire on anything that didn't stop after thier first warning from the sergeant's bullhorn.

"What bullshit, we're here to kick people's asses and we're sitting here in our base," said one of the privates as he tossed his cigarette out onto the road.

"Just keep your eyes open, man," explained another of the soldiers, "I heard that third squad caught a group of refugees trying to climb the fence, they tried to disperse them with CS grenades but they just tried harder to get in... I heard that Henderson went cyclic with his MG55 and dropped almost twenty of them."

"Shit, that's fuckin' insane!" replied the young private, "I don't know if I could do that."

"You'll do what you're told to," said Philips as he stood up from the sandbag bunker, the bullhorn in his hands as he pointed to a truck approaching from the city, "Thomas, get on the '76... aim for the engine block, we're supposed to stop them, not slaughter them."

"Yes Sir!" replied the private as he hopped over the sandbags and took aim with the machinegun.

Philips switched the bullhorn on and spoke into the microphone, "Unknown vehicle, this is First Sergeant Donald Philips of the Aequatian Army, you are hereby ordered to stop or we will fire on you!"

He repeated the message once out of mercy before tapping the top of Thomas's helmet, "Let 'em have it, Archie."

Heavy fog incased the patrol as they drove towards New Munsterburg, it was eerily silent, too silent for comfort. A shot rang out, followed by some shouting, then more shots.

"INCOMING!" Yelled in the patrol.

"Sir, our lead Humvee with Cpl. Smith's squad has been reported destroyed." A sergeant told Lieutenant Pike.

"This is Lieutenant Pike, to all vehicles, withdraw, withdraw. Over"

Lieutenant Pike's Humvee drove towards the scene of attack with his loudspeaker blaring, "This is Lieutenant Pike of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, you have just attacked a peacekeeping unit. Cease fire and announce yourselves, once again you have attacked a peacekeeping unit, cease fire and announce yourselves."

Reid's glorious, but small army also reached the huge concrete fence around New Muenserburg and began their assault immediately. An assault of explosives, tanks and artillery hammered again the walls and gate of the city. Local defending troops quickly fired back on heavy mounted machines, taking out at least two tanks and a hundred infantry forces, but they were fired on by assault rifles and quickly fell back. Poorly prepared for an assault of this measure the city would be breached in less than an hour, and would fall by the end of the next day...unless someone intervened. Meanwhile George Blorgenson sat alone at the long table, with his hands folded. Already he heard the sound of explosives, gunshots, and troops clamoring to the defense at the distant gate of the city. So this was the moment he was waiting for...

Meanwhile Reid Glucky sat bleeding as emergency medical staff rushed him to a hospital, his wound was small but fatal, and only the best and quickest medical attention would save his life. But sniper fired on the ambulance and the vehicle stopped short. He laid there bleeding and wheezing desperate, the paramedics did what they could for him as the world spun about around him and his vision blurred. At this rate he would not make it alive.

Troops also poured through the area, and police were dispatched to several cities where they were much needed. Order slowly seemed to return to the cities, but the conflict was not yet resolved. The factions continued to stubbornly hold to their ideals and beliefs, though the restless populace mostly submitted to occupying troops.
NEWS FLASH
In a shocking turn of events Victor Valinchi, after months of being missing has come out of hiding...
"My fellow Darvainians, my fellow communists," he announced at a press conference. "For very long I have watched in despair as our country has sank into war, I hid out of fear in an underground bunker, still undisclosed in location. But now I return you..."
"It has come to my attention that all hell has indeed broken loose in this country, and I thank all the people of Darvainia, and the nations who have thus far aided in bringing Darvainia into a new golden era of communism. However, I believe Darvainia is ready to choose for itself who will lead, and I believe they will make the right choice if given the chance. Therefore I do not condone the use of violence...to bring in the golden ages...yet. I aks that everyone on every side works together for a peaceful sollution, and that the nations involved focus on bringing Darvainia into peace, and restoring order to the country. Then that we hold new, democratic elections to decide who will lead and not lead, and begin the process of rebuilding this broken nation. Thank you..."

Religious leader, Reverend Greg Berson disagrees, he also held a press conference earlier this evening, announcing a new website for the moment. From he read some important facts.
"Peace is all good and great, but what about morality, what our mission to bring God back into Darvainia? What if evil prevails in democracy? The Libertarians can't be trusted as good stewards of our nations, and neither can the communists." Then he continued reading some facts from the "did you know?" section of the site.

Did you know?

The communists,

Want to legalize AND sometime mandate abortions for poplation control?

Want to ban and dissolve the marriage system and instead put selected men and women on breeding farms, while the rest live their lives for the community?

Support euthanasia not just as a means of mercykilling for physically suffering patients, but also for elderly and mentally disabled people?

The Libertarians,
Want to legalize drugs, alcohol and other unhealthy behavior?

Support prostitution as a legitimate business, totally ignoring the economic as well as the moral repercussions?

Want to keep gay marriage, gay adoption, and just plain sodomy legal and therefore seen as acceptable in society?

Refuse to acknowledge the connection of church and state, despite our religious heritage and history as a nation?

Meanwhile George Blorgenson sent out a message requesting Berson eases up on his attacks and submits to peace and rebuilding processes.
"If you get in the way of peace and reconstruction because of your religion or your so-called 'god'," he said just hours ago. "I'll make sure you're dealt with as much force as we hope to deal to the facists."

OOC: BTW Saint Fedsky, thank you for making the map you did an excellent job. I added only slight motifications to outline the territories held by each struggling factions and have the final print here: http://www.geocities.com/theslayer2006/Darvainia.gif Hope you don't mind if I stick with this.

At the 0800 in the local time moved 2nd Armoured Division forward from their bridgehead in the west bank of the Ottawa River, east of the city of Abberjabber. They formed the spearhead of the Battlegroup South, which was formed around the 2nd Armoured and 18th Mechanized divisions, suported by the Independent Firesupport Brigade and couple Light Battalions. The battlegroup included around 50,000 men, 420 155 and 203mm artillery pieces, more than 300 MBT's and more than thousand Spartan-Inf. figthing vehicles plus plenty of wheeled vehicles.

Unit was fast and held massive firepower. It was almost fully armoured, and therefore casualties were predicted to be light. However, this was not the case with the Communist troops securing their flanks. Around 10,000 men in three brigades were to follow the Battlegroup, securing occupied area and protecting the flanks in the forestous region, together with the Ligh Battalions of Madnestian army.

Those battalions were formed from Border Guard units, they had born and grown in mountains and hills, and of course gone through years of training and service.

Most of them were battle hardened veterans, just like almost all of the Madnestian troops in Darvainia, but the native troops were far from this. Many of them were from the Darvainy City of the coastal towns and villages. They lacked the experience, and even now after intensive training program and under mostly Madnestian officers they were far from professional troops.
Only the time would tell what they were good for.

First day went all smoothly. Massive barrage at the nuthead-christian positions "scared the shit out of them and threw them out of those puny wannabe-trenches they had constructed", like Sergeant Utarga from the 90th Armoured Company described. MBT's and fast, accurate and all-crushing artillery strikes were enough to keep the enemy constantly on move, and very few shots were fired between infatry troops in the middle.

However, in flanks and especially South in where the 5000 men of the1st Red Brigade moved almost without vehicles frifights occured constantly. Casualties weren't huge, but still far worse than thoser suffered by the armoured spearhead. In the first day 68 men were KIA and almost 300 hundred got wounded. Many of these were Madnesians who tried to encourage their shaking men by leading from the front of them. 120th Light Battalion was the decisive factor, moving and attacking from changing directions, marching like crazy and outflanking the enemy opposing the Red Brigade. Battalion lost almost 100 men, which was more than half of all Madnestian casualties.

Despite the difficulties in the Southern flank, movement was considered satisfying. More than 2/3 of the distance between Abberjabber and the riverbank had been covered, and tomorrow morning would the city be taken.

"Activate the landmines, and release the wrath of God on these heathen men..." these were the words that came directly from the commanders mouth while resting in the city of Abber Jabber, and they were words that bring great suffering to troops of Madnestan. Suddenly landmines, hidden only inches below the ground would explode on anyone whose movement was detected by the censor, and an entire army passing through in order to get to Abber Jabber would be no exception. Chaos broke loose and explosions erupted everywhere as soon the troops got more than 2/3rds of the way to the city, for they had come into the field of landmines around.
"Nice precaution to take..." grinned the commander. "Landmines are like sins, when you run into them they kill ya!"

OOC: they are religious nuts, but they're not complete imbeciles and cavemen. While their way of thinking may be black and white on social issues, it doesn't require them to be so stupid they can't acquire a few landmines off the black market. They could well have been acquired before the conflict began. These are afterall radical terrorist-like people, and they may have been planning and hoping for such an oppurtunity as this to present itself. I could easily pose similar questions to you though, how you crossed an entire river with more than fifty thousand men, and several heavy tanks and vehicles, and how in less than a day you were more than two-thirds of the way there. I could also ask you how you know how well their trenches were built and how many forces they had that you can simultaneously wipe them out without even flinching or sustaining even a small loss in the process...and again how you did this all in one day, and managed to reach the city, covering two-thirds of the distance.
You don't need to worry though, these people have almost nothing left in raw material, arms, or human resources, once you get through the landmines you'll have almost no resistance and it won't be hard to take the city. i just wanted to make this battle more interesting, and not totally effortless for you.

The soldiers of the northern colonies were not yet greeted with flowers as liberators, but with bullets as enemies. Through a series of urban, and guerilla attacks, people armed mostly with shotguns launched little annoying attacks on the small forces of men trying to occupy their city. But would these irritating skirmishes be enough to stop the division from occupying their town? Most likely not, especially with the growing restlessness of the local populace, who were more welcoming the independant militia defending the town. It would only be a matter of time before this slim force of men were defeated by the better-trained and better armed men from the northern colonies, and the majority of the population of civilians there would be more than welcoming to the northern colonies liberation from Glucky's reign of terror.

A huge cargo plane, about the size of a C-5 Galaxy, with four engines mounted on the end of each wing surface (for a total of 16), flies towards the city. Inside of it, a behemoth awaits.

The transport arrives, and its jets turn towards the ground, making a huge roaring sound on the ground below. It does a fairly gentle touchdown at the edge of the city, and opens the large doors on the back. Citizens and rebels alike look in curiosity at this large transport, and then they see it.

A tank, two and a half stories tall, and as wide as a four lane highway, the Armageddon Battle Tank rolls out of the transport towards the city. Equipped with two 15" battleship-grade cannons, missile launchers, an anti-air gattling cannon, and two sponson-mounted gattling guns, the tank made the rebels freeze in position, as the tank rolled into town down the main road.

The MES has only six of these tanks, but as a show of force, the tank was desperately needed to bring order back into the city. The tank was ordered to not fire unless fired upon.

Cpl. Smith, was leading the inital charge to the town hall. He moved a few metres before encountering resistance. A shotgun round, in the distance. Not enough to hit the team, but enough to make them duck for a bit.

"Get down!" He shouted.

One of the soldiers pulled his M16 rifle and fired at the unfortunate shotgunner. The bullet went through and hit his shoulderblade.

"Got him," that soldier cried.

Just as the men were about to move, a loud ring, characterised as a RPG, rang out.

"RPG!" Cpl Smith shouted.

A loud explosion proceded. When the dust settled, Cpl. Smith checked the condition of his men.

"Help me, sir," cried one of the soldiers, having been hit by the shapnel from the RPG.

He went and check on his condition. It was bad. He has lost two of his legs and lost much blood.

"Medic!" He ried as the medic ran to try to treat him. But it was hopeless, as he had lost too much blood. He fell into unconsiousness, and died a few moments later. Two other people were injured. Cpl. Smith called in a Medivac as the other soldiers still standing attacked the the man holding the RPG.

"Peacekeepers... Holy Empire of Saint Fedski?" asked Private Thomas as he set the machinegun down against the sandbags and picked up his G4 rifle, "That's a little different than the locals."

"Then why weren't we told about it?" asked Corporal Penn.

"Let's find out," said Sergeant Philips as he switched the bullhorn back on and spoke into it, "Lieutenant Pike, your people have wandered into an area under Aequatian jurisdiction without prior warning, we had no choice but to fire to prevent a potential danger to Aequatian lives."

"Sir, shouldn't we be getting the Captain out here?" asked Private Thomas, "I mean this could get ugly for all of us."

Philips nodded, "Go, Thomas, get him here now."

The sergeant had just barely finished talking when the 19-year old was off in a sprint to the company's command tent. The rest of the squad looked out at the dead hulk of the Humvee as it sat on the side of the road, it looked as if it was full of men and there were a few holes in the windshield and the hood of the truck as well as smoke rising from the engine compartment. It was at that moment that Captain Yates and the rest of their platoon arrived at the gates, "What's going on here, sergeant?"

"A truck was approaching from the city and refused to stop after I gave two warnings, we fired the MG76 to halt it and now we're being told that it belonged to the Saint Fedski Peacekeeping forces deployed to this area," explained the sergeant.

"Anyone still alive out there?" asked Specialist Baxter, the company medic, "If there is, we need to help them."

Yates gave a slight nod, "Baxter, get out there with Philips's squad and check for survivors," he turned to the sergeant, "Try to make contact with any other Fedskian soldiers out there or their commander. We need to bring them in to talk."

Philips saluted before rounding his squad up into a Humvee with an MG76 mounted on the roof cupola, they pulled out onto the road and approached the damaged humvee. Specialist Baxter prepared his kit to treat anyone that had survived the barrage from Thomas's machinegun fire.

By the time things had been cleared up, the fog had begun to lift.

"uhhh" moaned someone from the Humvee as the coating of fogged revealed several holes in frame and a crater near the front right tire.

Medics from both sides were seen running and driving towards the wrecked vehicle. Aequatian medics were first to arrive in their vehicles and secure the site. They found both the driver and gunner dead, Cpl. Smith clinging to life, another soldier only slightly wounded and the other three dead.

Lt. Pike arrived a couple minutes after the Aequatian troops, and just after the Saint Fedski medical team.

"Solider, I need to speak to you commanding officer" Lt. Pike tells one of the Aequatian soldiers.

As the soldier runs off into the fog, a single, rifle shot rings out and Lt. Pike's radio man falls over. Mortars begin crashing around the wrecked Humvee and machine gun fire rakes the area, again.

OOC: This is where Darvainia is supposed to chip in with one of the factions adding to the confusion, if he wishes, otherwise we can RP a lapse in communication and Fedskian forces are firing on other Fedskian forces...

By this time however, troops from the Fedskian patrol have spread out to form a small perimiter around the convoy.

IC: The people trembled in fear and scattered all over the place, a few were brave -or stupid- enough to fire on the tank with their heavy machine guns, but they would probably have no effect. Within minutes the central authorities of the city were already dispatching orders and message to surrender to the MES forces.

Meanwhile a small force of no more than thirty men from the radical religious fired attacks on Saint Fedsky's troops, screaming and cheering wildly as they did, they were sure that even if they didn't win this battle -which they probably wouldn't- they would cause yet more confusion and damage in the peace effort, especially since they wore stolen Libertarian uniforms.

Cobra Global has been watching this catastrophic event very carefully, and we not only mourn for the tragedy that has struck Darvainia, but also the serious loss in profit and production within your nation. Darvainia has for a very long time, been one of our greatest trading partners and customers. Therefore we are taking a leap of faith making a huge investment. While we have a very small corporate militia and can do little for Davainia in that way at this time, we do have money. Therefore we are offering up $120 billion to compensate the disgruntled militias for lost money. We do this in exchange for them not only stepping down but also overthrowing the facist government that has arised in the western part of the nation. Again this is a huge part of Cobra Global's budget, but it is part of a large budget that wouldn't exist if it wasn't for our #1 customer, the nation of Darvainia.

Philips and his squad take cover behind the hulk of the wrecked Humvee as he looked down the road where the private he had sent to bring Captain Yates to meet with Lieutenant Pike had been hit in the leg and was now laying on the ground, blood staining his woodland fatigues and the road around the wound. The sergeant grabbed the squad intercom speaker from off his collar and spoke into it, "Captain, we're taking mortar and machinegun fire out here, requesting company support fire, over."

"Roger that," came the reply from Yates as he repeated the coordinates to the battery commander which Philips had given him. The thump of the company's 60mm mortars was heard over the explosions of the enemy mortars and the rain of the machinegun fire.

Specialist Baxter had his rucksack on the ground and had placed his own body armour over the window of the Humvee as he attempted to stabilize the Fedskian Corporal Smith. Private Thomas was propped against the Humvee's front fender and firing over the hood at where the machinegun fire was coming from while beside him Corporal Penn picked up his fireteam's MG55 SAW from his wounded gunner who had been struck in the collarbone by a round while another had grazed his head and he was now kneeling on the ground with blood running down the side of his head. The Aequatian Humvee returned fire with its MG76 with impunity as the gunner was protected by a bisplate firing shield.

Captain Yates ordered the remaining squads of 1st Platoon to move into the trees and attempt to flank the enemy position and silence their fire against Philips's squad and the Fedskian troops. He watched the young private who had been hit and ordered a second Humvee to move out onto the road and cover the medics as they brought him back inside the base.

Lieutenant Baron and his two squads of 1st Platoon moved out from the main gate but quickly took to the treeline along the road, they moved in a crouch and kept their weapons at the ready. Although rarely ever thought about, the lieutenant had called for bayonets to be attached in case they stumbled upon the enemy in their haste through the trees.

Meanwhile, Philips dropped behind the wrecked Humvee and let the empty magazine fall from his G4k carbine before replacing it with a fresh one. Beside him Baxter had pulled Private Garner, Penn's SAW gunner, over behind the hulk and was examining his wounds. The round had shattered his collarbone and the medic could nearly see through Garner's wound onto the road below.

Explosions and screams filled the air. Vehicle-mounted troops that formed the majority of the advancing battlegroup suffered less, but strong AT-mines caused casualties to even them. However, infantry-on-foot took horrendous losses by the incredibly dense field of these cursed weapons. All movement stopped, and the confusion was great. Only the heaviest vehicles, Hoplite II MBT's weer able to move in relative safety. However, the mines were strong enough to break the tracks and this stopped even the behemonts. Officers has no clue of what to do, they were sitting ducks in the middle of a minefiled, surprisingly strong enemy just in front of them. Almost the whole 2nd Armoured was in the mined area, and 18th Mechanized had "lost" almost half of their strength into the minefield. Madnestian army had very limited number of minesweeping equipment, breaking through this field would take days.

A perfect place for enemy's counterattack.

The wounded Corporal Smith is currently undergoing surgical procedures to treat wounds sustained in the barrage. We feel that he wil be ready to move within a couple of weeks and until that time will remain in the 1191st Medical Battalion's care before we contact you for his retrieval.

-----

Since the incident with the Fedskians, Sergeant Philips and his squad had been quiet. Specialist Baxter had recieved a medal for his actions to save the young Corporal Smith along with the wounded members of Philips's squad along with Corporal Penn who had been rewarded for his bravery in the firefight. Now their entire company along with Delta company were pulling security in the downtown sector of New Munsterburg. It was surprisingly calm for a country that on the news seemed to be going straight to hell, people were going about their business and heading to work, almost oblivious to the battalion's armoured vehicles and tanks that sat in the streets. Delta company was guarding the shopping district while Alpha watched over the central business district with the city's glass and concrete skyscrapers. Philips stood on his squad's Dragoon ICV, talking with the vehicle's commander who was sitting on the turret with his legs inside the vehicle.

It seemed pointless to sit and watch the people go by, but there wasn't anything to do since most of the fighting around the entire country had died down. The stillness was broken the odd time a Black Hawk flew over or landed in a park that had been turned into a makeshift landing zone for supplies, mostly which included fresh meals instead of the freeze-dried crap in bags they normally ate in the field. Others were braver and ate from the shops and fast food restaurants located about the district. They still couldn't believe that the most exciting combat post turned out to be a friendly fire incident, what a boring country.

OOC: Lol aqueatio, is it that bad? Maybe I can give you a little something to do...?

IC: Meanwhile in the minefield Madnestan troops seemed stagger under the impact of minds, the religious fanatics trembled in excitement, at this rate they not even have to fight with the tiny force they had to protect the city. Five hundred hand-machine-gun men, and five armed with anti-tank guns hardly seemed adequate anyway, but nonetheless they fortified the battlefield and move into position. Suddenly hundreds of small explosion were set off again, but to their dismay they were harmless sparks of short-circuiting.
"Cheap blackmarket, mines!" The commander of the religious forces cursed. "It's over..." he sighed, knowing if the other side made it through with even a third of their strength they would be overwhelmed, and the remaining mines, even if miraculously so, were rendered useless.
"But God was on our side!" one of his assistants protested.
"No...we've lost, the end is truly near!" he sighed, watching on his radar screen as troops seemed to advanced freely through a faulty, defective minefield. The damage had been done to the other side, but it was hardly enough...nonetheless they would fight with their remaining forces...
......................
In New Muensterburg jets flew overhead, unfamiliar in design. There were over thirty-five of them, and Blorgenson knew they weren't friendly.
"Set off the air-raid alarm, and get some boys on those AA-guns!" he shouted into his intercom, but there was no reply. The phone was disconnected to. "S***!" he cursed. "They already knocked communications?" and they knocked out more than that, he could tell by the erupting sound of explosions and the sounds of screaming and panic in the streets.
...............
Meanwhile in the St. Petersburg Hospital Reid Glucky sat up in his hospital bed during a broadcast.
"I'm..." he said, taking a breath from his respiration machine. "Not dead yet!" he warned. "And my militias will fight for no one but me, nice try Cobra Global, but I still have over the half the army I did before...and I still have a nuclear missile silo. If anyone tries anything stupid it's coordinates are already set for New Muensterburg, meanwhile we sent a treat as a warning...surrender the country to me or millions die, the damage done will be astronomical. This warning is for the international helpers too..."

General Saltzman had finished watching a tape of the boradcast sent out by Reid Glucky and the potential for the situation to grow into nuclear devastation. He stood within the command room with his intelligence general staff around him, "We need to find this supposed silo and eliminate it before he can even get a chance to use it."

One of the intelligence officials spoke, "Sir, we can't mobilize any units from the 9th Infantry, it would be too obvious and would more than likely encourage this maniac to fire and destroy the city."

"If we were to deploy a SCAR unit, they could track down the silo's location and knock it out with Air Force Night Hawks," suggested a young Air Force major-general, "That way it wouldn't draw attention until after the threat has been eliminated."

"All right, make it so," said General Saltzman as he turned to the commander of Aequatio's special operations forces, "What do we have ready to deploy?"

"Many of our units are already overseas, but we do still have the 4th SCAR ready for action," replied the lieutenant-general, "We could have them on the ground in Darvainia within eight hours."

Sergeant Philips, like the rest of his squad, made for the cover provided by their armoured carrier as the aircraft came in low and dropped their ordinance onto the city's tall buildings. One of the bombs had basically sliced one of the towers in half, leaving the rest to fall into itself and the streets below. An intersection was struck by a bomb and where a group of vehicles and infantry stood just minutes ago was nothing more than a crater, "Well, at least they didn't feel a thing," thought the sergeant as he quickly counted the rest of his squad. He heard another bang only to realize it was the vehicle's commander shutting the hatches and preparing for any enemy ground units that would follow through on the bombardment.

The bombs had hit mostly the business district where Delta company was positioned, so they took the casualties. However, things looked a lot more grim for the civilian populace as the buildings that were hit would have been filled with people working in their offices or out shopping in the city's malls. Philips looked up and saw that there were already MEDIVAC Black Hawks hovering over the makeshift landing zones, preparing to take the wounded back as the utility Black Hawks took to the air and were providing cover for the ground units. He saw Captain Yates and 2nd Platoon soldiers digging through the piles of concrete, twisted steel and broken glass and pulling survivors from the ruins to bring them to the awaiting helicopters.

"So much for the quiet day," he said as he rallied his squad towards a ruined building that had been the victim of a near-miss and was damaged but still standing.

A secret statement to allied nations from Victor Valinchi:
We again thank all the nations for their cooperation and help in stabilizing the region. The nation of Darvainia will be grateful in the longrun, and I am sure because of you all peace will win in the end. As the now official leader of the communist faction I will give you whatever help we can. We do not have alot in the ways of military force and such, as we are still disorganized in that area, but our intelligence is improving significantly, and a few of our espionage teams have discovered nuclear launch facilities on the outskirts of St. Petersberg, unfortunately you will have to be very careful as they are designed to be disguised as farming crop silos, and there are at least a dozen civilian hostage kept in each one at night. There are two, and I am now transmitting coordinates to one of the more trustworthy peace-keeping forces of Saint Fedsky, and you may share them as you please or do what you want with them.
...............................
At New Muensterburg the front part of the city was hammered by heavy tank cannons, and three breaches now existed in the walls. The front-line Darvainian security forces were easily slaughter, most of them standard infantyry fighters crushed by the tanks, while those remaining on top of the wall rained heavy machine gun fire on the incoming forces were taken out quickly by counter sniper fire somewhere in the distance. The forces poured into the city and devastated everything in their path, but their goal was quite clear, capture the capital, kill George Blorgenson, and shatter the Libertarian hold on the land (or what was left of it). They made their way to the capital building...
Meanwhile on the western side of the city, heavy artillery also slammed into the great wall there, and formed a breach in the defense. A small force of men dressed in chemical suits and armed a deadly assortment of weapons. They struck first blows by taking out frontline security forces with deadly homemade explosives and continue to terrorize nearby civilians with a deadly cloud poisonous gas, probably made from a deadly combination of bleach, ammonia, and other household cleaners.
.............................
The communist city of Wozal was also under heavy fire but of a different kind. Cropduster loomed over the city, looking innocent at first, that is until they released a deadly flood of poisonous chemicals and acids on the city. Almost no part of the city was spared from at least some damage caused by the Religious Fundamentalists deadly cropdusters. Those that didn't fly in crop duster flew in private jetplanes over the city, pouring bags of 1/100 tokens out into the city. The pennies didn't seem like much at first but from over thousand feet, when they landed they shattered glass, left dents in cars, damaged buildings, and worst of all bruised and people and killed them if they landed in the right place.
.........................
Reid Glucky sat in his bed laughing as he watched the news record the carnage. The show currently showed a split screen of Wozal and New Muensterburg, both city bathing in fire and blood. He grinned widely, but his focus was on New Muensterburg.
........................
George Blorgenson of the central government and Libertarian forces has also made the following brief statement:
"We condemn, and do not condone the use of weapons of mass destruction, be they chemical or nuclear..." suddenly he sniffed the air, pretending to ignore burning sensation in his nose as he sniffed light fumes emanating from the distant assault. "Anyone who uses WMDs in this conflict is not a friend, but an enemy of Darvainia. Therefore I ask that allies do not stoop to Glucky's level and use them on him, I will not have innocents die or the environment be damaged worse than it has been already. And to Reid Glucky, God have mercy on your soul if you would committ such an atrrocity...no further questions."
........
In the distance the communists mobilized a small force of machine-gun assault helicopters, three to aid in Wozal, and ten to fly straight for New Muensterburg and aid there.
"I hope this will show that the Communists and Libertarians can put aside their differences for at least long enough to defend their country from evil forces, and preserve the freedom and peace we've enjoyed together, though disagreeingly for so long." Said Valinchi today.

The younger members of Philips's squad were unnerved when they pulled the boxes of environmental protection suits off the MH-53J Pave Low helicopters that came in to bring in the remaining units of the 1st Brigade which was now slated to help in the defence of the city against the forces commanded by Ried Glucky.

While those that exited the choppers were already wearing the environmental suits and took up security positions the unprotected soldiers were quick to prepare their gear and ready to go within a few minutes. The masks limited their vision and were hot all over, but they kept you alive when the gas rolled in. Philips tapped Corporal Penn on the shoulder and spoke through the heavy mask, "You look ridiculous, man!"

Above the ground force cruised the little AH-10 Battle Ravens mounting 70mm rocket pods and 7.62mm miniguns while heavier AH-60L Battle Hawks mounted with larger Hellfire missiles. They belonged to the Brigade's Aviation Regiment and would knock out any enemy vehicles and infantry that stood in the way of the brigade's units.

Seeing as we both want to have Mr. Glucky tried, our nations can put together a combined tribunal with 2 members from each of our nations and one from the Libertarian forces.

As we already have forces providing security for Mr. Glucky, we will capture him and bring him back to our sector and he will be imprisoned aboard the HES Sarnia for safe keeping. We have begun flying to Chinook helicopters into the St. Petersburg area in order to extract him. Aircraft, from all three carriers have begun attacking targets of oppourtunity in the area as well and will provide cover for the exfiltration of all Fedskian personnel as well as the prisoner.

IC: Communist helicopters moved quickly, and within a little over an hour they arrived at the outskirts of New Muensterburg, and quickly used their machine guns to take out snipers and other forces in their positions under the command of Reid Glucky. The other three assault choppers moved quickly to attack the religious forces in plains to stop the onslaught of chemical and other deadly weapons on Wozal. Unfortunately for them the machine was not as easy as they anticipated, the religious nuts launched a small counterstrike from their planes, armed with light weapons. The first chopper plummeted to the ground.
"Chopper down, chopper down!" one of the other pilots yelled into his intercom. "Requesting immediate backup A.S.A...agggghghhhh!!!" by the time the third and last chopper went down the religious fanatics only lost one of their own planes, and the rest returned to the airport in Kleepin. It would be another day or two before Wozal was terrorized by another attack, but the damage done was enough to traumatize any city, and they anticipated yet another attack anytime soon unless somekind of aid was given against the fundamentalist forces.
.....................................
In the city of New Muensterburg the city came under heavy fire from land and air forces alike. Planes continued to bomb critical targets, and security forces within the city scrambled to AA-guns, most of which were taken out byt ground tanks. Civilians ran around, screaming in terror, some of them being evacuated, but many still being left behind, and an open target to these malicious forces. Eventually with the help of international allies, and communist forces the planes attack were no more, but the airport in Darvainia was still a target of the ground forces and came under fire of heavy tanks and artillery units, which were covered by infantry machine gun and assault rifle men. Already critical buildings were on fire and on the verge of collapse...
Meanwhile on the other side of the city men still poured with deadly chemical agents that poured into the city. The men walked around, confident that no one existed to counter their attack...but were they so sure?
...................................
"Yes," said Reid Glucky from his hospital bed, into his cellphone. "I'm feeling much better, and my operation have so far been a smashing success, the city of New Muensterburg is in flames, and I have a deadly surprise of mass destruction ready if forces there fail, or for that matter if I need for another city...yeah, yeah blah, blah, blah!"
"Uh-huh, look I need a helicopter in the hospital parking lot ASAP, so I'll meet you out there, hospital security will let me out no trouble. The rest of me will just have to heal naturally...I just have a feeling things here are gonna get ugly." he sighed. "Yeah...I couldn't trust my own wife last week, I doubt I can trust internationals, just get that escape chopper as soon as possible, I'll meet you in the parking lot." with that he hung up the phone, and ripped out his IV, and jumped out of his bed, and started dressing. "As soon as I get some pants on...I'm outta here"

In the St. Petersberg Hospital, twenty members of the Elite Guards kept an eye on Mr. Glucky, who still had no idea about their real motives.

"Mr. Glucky, you helicopter is here Sir." One of the Guards told him.

"Watch your step now, we don't want you falling and hurting yourself anymore than you already are."

Meanwhile, in the parking lot, a CH-47 Chinook was landing, unbeknownst to Ried Glucky's troops, it contained another 20 members of the Elite Guards and was packing three 12.7mm machine guns as armament. Another helicopter was landing near the back door to the hospital and a standby chopper was circling overhead with its machine guns trained down on the parking lot below.

Eight missles were fired from the HES Wisdome and HES Winnipeg (frigates) and aimed at the anti-aircraft defences, hopefully eliminating them before the Skyhawks show up.

Five A-4 Skyhawks screamed in low over the missle silo attacking any remaining AA defences with air to surface missiles and visable communication equipment with delay-fused 1000 pound bombs on the first pass. Coming in even lower, barely above tree top level, firing with their twin 20mm cannons, they strafed any visable vehicle. Eight missles were fired from the HES Wisdome and HES Winnipeg (frigates) and aimed at the anti-aircraft defences, hopefully eliminating them before the Skyhawks show up.

Three kilometers away to the north, the sound of tank treads could be heard grinding at full speed as they hurtled through the sparse forest. Small arms fire could be heard from the west and heavy machine gun fire from the south. St. Petersberg and the nearby missle silo were surrounded by the forces from the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski and the forces of Aequatio.

Floating on the eerily calm ocean east of St. Petersberg was the HES Huron, Vittorio Veneto Class Helicopter Cruiser, armed with 3 MH-6 Littlebird gunshipds and two Halifax Class Frigates, armed with RIM-66 missiles. The Littlebirds will be flying constantly in the general vicinity of the silo in order to prevent any more enemy forces from entering the fight.

"So what have we done to prepare for this nuke threat," asked Maj. Gen. Bright.

"Well, we are deploying PATRIOT, missile system, with hit-to-kill missiles around Lake Charles, and New London. Most of the combat has moved towards New Musterburg, however, and if a WMD was to be launched, it would probably be around there," told Brig. John Smith, the commander of the 225th Brigade.

"What about the Tridents?" Questioned Bright.

"Well, the 4 Tridents are on their way. They are expected here in around about a day. They are equiped with enough Nuclear Warhead to turn this nation to a radioactive waste."

"Oh, that's a nice feeling," came the reply. "We should now try to locate this Gucky.

Suddenly, a Sergeant, working in intel, burst into the meeting, followed by 2 MPs trying to stop him.

"I found it, I found it, sir!," he shouted out.

"Let him speak," said Bright.

The Sergeant straighten himself out.

"The nuke silo, it is here, near St. Petersburg, sir," the Sergeant said

"That's very good, Sergeant. Thank you for the information. Dismissed!" He said in a stern voice.

The Sergeant saluted, "Yes, sir!" He replied, in a stern manner.

A few hours later, a plan had been hatch to destroy the silo from air.

"Ok, ladies and gentlemen, this is our plan," Lieutenant General John Langley, the overall commander of Operation Saving Magic, as well as the Commander of Land Forces Pacific Command. He was talking through a video.

"F-117 Nighthawks from St. John Air Base will take off at 2130 hours.” He pointed at a point on a map.
“At 2300 hours, the aircraft will reach point A. A KC-135 Stratotanker will be there to refuel the F-117.” He then pointed to another section of the map. This point was very close the Darvainia.
“This is Point B. From there on in, the aircraft will observe radio silence. He should reach there by 2400 hours”

“Eh, shouldn’t we contact some of the forces, sir?” Bright questioned.
“No need,” said the Lieutenant General. “Intel reports that there are no friendly forces in the area. Any other questions?”

There was silence in the room, indicating that everyone was in agreement. “Horrah then!” shouted the General. Everyone else replied with the same sound.

Flight Lieutenant Mike O’Reilly was picked as the pilot for the operation. He had clocked over 400 hours on the F-117 and was considered by high command as the best F-117 pilot in the Northern Colonies Air Force. After having received the briefing, he jumped on the plane and began to taxi off.

“Good Evening St. John Tower, Nighthawk Foxtrot Zulu Zulu, requesting permission for take-off”

“This is St. John Tower, Nighthawk Foxtrot Zulu Zulu Permission to take-off, granted. Godspeed Reilly,” replied ATC.

“Thank you, St. John Tower.”

He applied power, to the plane, and soon the plane was off the ground, on its way to unleash hell.

“Good evening, Supertanker Echo Bravo Alfa, I have spotted you, preparing to slow down for docking,” said O’Reilly.

The Nighthawk slowed down as the hose of the KC-135 attached to the aircraft.

“Supertanker Echo Bravo Alfa, I am docked with you, ready to receive fuel.”

“Roger that, Nighthawk Foxtrot Zulu Zulu, loading fuel now,” came the reply from the tanker.

Fuel was loaded inside the aircraft, until it was full.

“Supertanker Echo Bravo Alfa, I am full and ready undocking,” said O’Reilly

“Roger Nighthawk Foxtrot Zulu Zulu, undocking now,” replied the tanker. The hose was removed from the F-117 and sucked back in. “Your cleared, have a nice... night.”

“Roger, goodbye,” replied O’Reilly

St. Petersberg Hospital
Ried Glucky was escorted outside to the awaiting chinook.

"That's not the chopper I order!" He exclaimed with fright as he saw the chopper flying overhead and saw the small gunfights raging in the nearby forest.

"It is now old man, now get moving." A soldier ordered as he jabbed the barrel of his gun into Glucky's back, but Glucky wouldn't budge. Instead he spun around and tried to run back into the hospital, but a quick thinking Sergeant stuck out his leg and tripped the already injured Glucky. A medic jumped out of the landed chinook and sprinted over to the injured man. He was hurt pretty bad again.

"He's pretty bad. We have to get him on the chopper and back home as quickly as possible. He might not make it." The medic said.

"Like hell he won't!" The Sergeant replied as he grabbed Glucky's arm, threw it around his neck and began dragging him to the Chinook. "Help me get him in here, medic, you stay with him until we get home, Ya hear?"

As soon as the men were in, the helicopter took off, firing its machine guns at the Gluckian forces as they revealed themselves. The standby chopper landed to extract the remaining member of the team as quickly as possible.

Within a couple of minutes, all three helicopters were enroute back to the New Munsterburg Airport.

Two St. Fedskian Elite Guards were killed, three wounded. One pilot suffered minor injuries as a result of a stray bullet.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Silo near St. Petersberg

Explosions from the missles could be heard by the rear elements of the assaulting forces, seen by the main body, and felt by the advance elements which were almost at silo proper now.

Inside the compound, Fedskian armoured units found it difficult to maneuver due to the amount of explosions and obstacles, however the lighter, more mobile infantry were able to cut through the defences like a hot knife in butter.

From the air, an Gluckian column was seen to be moving rather quickly towards the conflict at the silo. This column was a perfect target for the three Littlebird gunships circling the area. Firing a couple rounds, hoping to scare the vehicles away, the littlebirds attacked. When the vehicles kept going, one of the helicopters took a quick pass over the column to make sure they weren't friendly, and they weren't. The following two helicopters came in from the flanks and destroyed the first couple vehicles and the last couple on the first pass. The first helicopter came around for its first combat pass and fired its rockets at a group of trucks trying to get off the road. By this time however, small arms fire was greeting the lightly armoured littlebirds as they pressed home their attacks, forcing them to turn away sooner than they should.

IC:
Glucky stagged towards the chopper, either resound to his fate, or making up some kind of plan for an escape. He was a resourceful man, but that was when he was free and had access to his swindled multi-billion dollar fortune. Meanwhile security forces took notice of their leaders capture, but there was little they could do, and for most of them little they wanted to. A small group of civilians stood by in the parking lot, watching as Glucky begrudgingly boarded the enemy helicopter, and cheered wildly. The few forces he had left in the region were weak, decimated, and hundreds at the sight of his capture were already deserting, or even switching sides. His oppression was finally coming to an end.
.................................................
Meanwhile in one of the severely damaged silos alarms sounded everywhere as the men inside tried to radio for help from nearby forces, who all seemed held up by enemies, or simply unwilling to come. The building was in flames but still at least partially functional. Twelve people sat on the floor together in an empty storage room, at the point of a machine gun they sat still and did not dare leave, but did they dare stay as the building would soon collapse.
One mother held her boy, no older than eight, by her side as he and other wept and cried inconsolably. Some of them cried in anger or fear, begging to be let go, but the guards stood stoically, repressing their tears, knowing their families were being held hostage somewhere in Glucky's estate, and violating their orders would mean their deaths too.
An old and frail man nearby put a hand on the little boy's head reassuringly. "Don't worry child..." he tried to console him. "The spirit lives forever...death is not the end."
.............................................
Meanwhile secret plans were carried out among the libertarian forces, who sent machine gun infantry, assault riflemen, and heavy artillery units into the religious territory. At last, after weeks of marching they arrived from the city of Moosejaw, to Kleepin, and standing over a hundred yards outside the city's sphere of influence they stopped waiting for orders. The forces totalled five thousand men and weapons in number, along with fifty heavy artillery equipment units.
"Awaiting orders," the major called into his satellite phone.
"Stand your ground," came the response. "Camp for the night. I have just sent out a message to all allied nations requesting them to send some air support in the city. If we get it move and capture everything you can, eventually take the entire city under our control. If not then first thing tommorrow, force your way into the city and push ahead to capture the airport, try to avoid enemy fire from above. If we can capture the airport we'll stop all forms of bombing and terrorist attacks from the religious fundamentalists, if we can capture the entire city with help of air support from allies, we can completely end their movement once and for all, and shatter their hold on the land. Either way we can deal a decisive blow to their movement, and as a secondary objective we want you to look out for Reverend Greg Berson, and capture him dead or alive, preferrably alive. Over and out, I'll call you tommorrow."
"Yes sir, hear from you then!" said Major Foxtrottersworth.

Secondly, you are charged by the international community for war crimes. You have accused of bombing civilian targets and using chemical weapons on civilian targets. You have also been accused of using physical torture on innocent people. You will be transported aboard a C-2 Greyhound to the HES Sarnia where you will be held in maximum security until further notice. Do you understand?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Silo
Three hours after the assault began, the fighting around the silo seemd to be dead. Aside from a couple remaning pockets of resistance, the compound was under control by Fedskian forces.

Casualties
38 soldiers killed
103 wounded (including 11 seriously)
1 Centurion Main Battle Tank was destroyed (all 4 crew killed)
2 Centurions damaged (combined total of 3 crew killed, 4 wounded)
1 M113A3 APC destroyed (both crew members and 5 soldiers)

The remaing forces from Saint Fedski began to secure the silo itself. The men searched every room, every nook and every cranny for remaining Gluckians. Members of the Intelligence Bureau swarmed into the control rooms and technicians poured over the wiring of the missile. Fortunately for them, it was a system they were familiar with and were able to disarm it. A perimeter was formed around the silo as Col. John Day awaited the arrival of Aequatian forces who had just broken through the Gluckian defences.

Philips and his squad had just disembarked from their armoured carrier once they had been told that their company had made contact with the enemy, however, they watched the opposition forces break and run when they took up a fighting position. The sergeant switched to the command channel and he spoke, "Alpha One, this is Alpha One One, enemy forces have broken and are withdrawing, requesting orders,"

"Alpha One One, hold on a minute, need to get info from company command," came the reply and after a few minutes the lieutenant's voice spoke through the radio, "Alpha One One, the entire company is to move forward with the battalion's armour, but do not fure unless fired upon, taking prisoners is of the utmost importance, Alpha One out."

"All right," said the sergeant as he pointed towards the fleeing enemy, "Move ahead, but don't shoot 'em unless they fire first!"

The words had barely left Philips's mouth when his squad and the other members of his platoon began moving forward from their combat positions and persuing the opposition's troops. The squads would move with their fighting vehicles covering one flank and tanks guarding the flanks of the company's movement. The streets were only a few lanes wide, but there was enough rooms to advance since they had emptied after the air strikes by opposition aircraft.

The loud whine of the tank's hydraulics could be heard as Sergeant Philips watched it bring its gun to bear on a building garrisoned by Opposition forces, "Hit the deck!" he yelled through his mask as he forced one of the young privates down before the tank fired a HEAT round into the corner of the building, allowing the floors above it to crumble down onto the street in front of the building. The fury continued as one of the Dragoon combat vehicles let loose a TOW missile and it streaked down the street into a roadblock which had been hastily put in placed with city busses and turned it into a hulk of twisted and burnt metal.

A figure rose from the rubble and Philips could see an assault rifle in his hand, so he placed his G4 rifle to his shoulder and look down the sights. It was almost an eternity up to the point he pulled the trigger and the rifle spit forth a burst of rounds, the figure disappeared down into the ruins and the sergeant was on his feet with his squad following just behind him as they assaulted the building to find it filled with the dead and dying, most were still but a few were moaning and crawling for the exits. One of the SAW gunners fired a long burst into a man lying on the ground only to reveal the unexploded grenade in his hand.

Just then, rounds ripped into the walls above their heads as machinegun rounds strafed the building from across the street, the squad dropped to the floor except for Corporal Penn who took a round to the neck, blood spurted and ran down his uniform as he fell to the ground. Private Young rushed over and pulled the corporal over behind cover as he pulled out field dressing from his tactical vest and placed it over the soldier's wound after he had pulled back the protective hood of his NBC gear. The sergeant and his squad could not get into a proper firing position to fire back at the enemy, but the large Dragoon combat vehicle turned its turret as it pulled up to cover the infantry and fired away at the building with its 35mm autocannon.

Sirs,

To you knowledge, a conflict has broken out between the Kraven Corporation and its supporters against the Anti-Kraven Alliance and their supporters. Our best interests lie in a victory for the Anti-Kraven Alliance and our attention is therefore going to be preoccupied to that sector and to the fighting within the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski. It is our regretful decision that we hand over all territory now occupied by the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski to the Libertarians and their supporters, Aequation and the Northern Colonies. The nations are listed in order The Forces of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski will remain in place until the aboved named forces are capable of controlling New Munsterburg, Abberjabber and Darvainy City. The Holy Empire of Saint Fedski shall also hold onto Ried Glucky until the conflict is over and a tribunal can be set up to try him for the already stated charges. It is great regret that we have officially withdraw our authority from the nation of Darvainia as soon as the last soldier steps off the land.

Your's regretfully,

Mike O'Reilly saw the missle silo on his camera screen. He took a deep breath for a moment, and then began the procedure. A small beeping sound locked the taget in.

"Alright," he said.

The bomb was released from the plane. A BLU-101 Bunker Buster, it was designed to destroy bunkers such as the missle silo.

On and on it dropped....

OOC: I need someone to roleplay the hit.

It's bunkerbusting but how big is it? Is it intended for total annihilation, or simply pentrating certain defenses of a target? Would affected area be a larger or smaller area, just a few simple things would be fine so I know how to take the hit)

Subject:Many thanks

It is with great regret, but gratitude we bid you goodbye. We cannot ever express how valuable what you've done for our nation is, and the people of Darvainia will not forget anytime soon. We wish you luck in your future conflict, and may both our nations prosper.

......................................................
Fighting raged on as bullets and explosives flew everywhere, but the last of chemical weaponers seemed to be gone, and the fumes would dissipate by the end of the week...hopefully. As the forces of Aequatio, and other allies slammed into the enemy with what they had the forces slowly but surely staggered under the impact, and fell. Several planes finally took off from the airport despite rapid and heavy enemy fire, the bombs moved quickly and carefully, dropping minor explosives on enemies above, while hundreds of Libertarian security forces gathered with rifles and anti-tank bazookas and added their punch to fight.
With word of their leaders capture being played in the streets at high volume the enemy's morale was shaken, and the few who survived deserted the cause complete. Late up until the hour of one O' clock in the morning, the fighting lasted in minor skirmishes, and despite clever guerilla tactics the facist forces fell in the end, all either dead, captured, or no where to be found. George Blorgenson was happy to announce first thing in the morning via press conference, that peace would finally be restored to the capital city.
..........................
Major Foxtrottersworth's phone rang.
"Major," said his commander.
"Yes sir?"
"Are your forces ready for invasion?"
"Yes sir!"
"Wait til the hour of midnight, you have new orders. Capture Greg Berson alive in whatever way you deem necessary, I am sending a map to find his estate, but try to be discreet. When you capture him and he is safely outside the city, call for the airstrikes and move in to take over the city, try not to damage any civilian targets."
"Why not just kill Berson, an assasination would be easy enough?" asked the major.
The commander sighed. "Boss wants him on trial with Glucky. Over and out."
The major began to formulate a new plan to capture Reverend Greg Berson.

The fighting through the night was intense, Corporal Penn had been loaded into the squad's Spartan armoured carrier and was being looked over by Specialist Baxter who had managed to stabilize him until an MH-10 Raven pilot had brought his bird down into an intersection to bring him back to the division's field hospital when the fighting had ended earlier that morning. Philips was lucky, his men had only been wounded in the fighting unlike many of the other units who had lost soldiers to the close-quarters battle in the urban combat. Golf Company had lost nearly an entire platoon clearing out a warehouse sector until they had called in the division's artillery to knock down a long string of buildings. In all, the battalion had lost nearly 25 soldiers to KIA and 56 to wounds along with three Improved Spartan fighting vehicles and a humvee.

A pair of Army AV-8D Harrier II aircraft had taken point for the rest of the aircraft, the rest of the aircraft would remain outside of the range of any enemy surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft guns. The lead Harriers would use thier guided munitions to knock out any air defences in the city while the others would use rockets and cluster bombs to strike against enemy positions.

"Darvainian 2nd Light Infantry/Artillery Unit," said Lieutenant-Colonel Castle as his aircraft skimmed just above the treetops, "From now on your callsign will be Cobalt Six, combat elements will be named Cobalt, our callsign is Musket and call us in when you need it, we will remain in the immediate area and be refueled by Air Force tankers, over."

- 1 Kilometre South of Missile Silo "Bravo"

Colonel Rebecca Smyth was standing next to the Ranger II light tank as the lead elements of her brigade had stopped just under a kilometre away from the silo they were meant to occupy, she used her flashlight with a red gel filter on it to preserve her natural night vision to read a map and marching orders from DIVCOM. All around her the rest of the headquarters company had gathered and were waiting for her order to move out, it had been cleared out, but they had heard the call to stay clear from the Northern Colonies', but that had been nearly twenty minutes ago and there was no sign of the strike. Smyth folded the map back up and put it away before climbing aboard the light tank and putting on a headset, "Headquarters will move forward with an armoured company, the rest of the brigade will take up positions all around and establish a perimeter."

Just as the small tank lurched forward did the silo complex explode in a cloud of dust and dirt before the ground shook and fire spewed forth from the silo's doors in the ground. Black smoke rose from the complex as fires began to build around the silo's launch bay, the tank plowed over the chain link fence and led the way for the armoured carriers following, once they were inside, soldiers poured from the vehicles and began to move about the ruins. The colonel spoke into the radio once again, "Northern Colonies', this is Colonel Smyth of the Aequatian 2nd Brigade, 9th Mechanized Division, silo site Bravo is confirmed eliminated, no casualties yet discovered but we're looking into it, over."

Due the recent accidents in our Southern Borders and growing tension between our nation and some of our neighbours, Heavily Armed Republic is forced to pull her armies out of Darvainia to secure her own safety. Our support to the communist army will continue however, as long as their fight goes on, and our officers withing their ranks shall remain, training those brave boys of Darvainia.
We shall, however, closely observe the situation.

"Sir, what's the sound? Is someone screaming?"

"I don't know Mike, but it's getting louder and closer. It sounds like a bomb in a movie you know when it's dropping and it has that really high-pitched whislte? That's what it sounds like"

"Yeah, now that you mention it it does sound like that."

There isn't much time before the bombs begin to land. A couple seconds after the small conversation, large explosions tear the the area to shreads.

"HOLY HELL! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK! GET DOWN! FIND THE BUNKERS!"

A bomb landed right between Mike and the Lieutenant. It blew them to pieces. Body parts flew across the field and landed in the forests.

In a few short seconds it was over. The earth lay cratered. Bodies, fresh and old, strewn across the area like they were childs' toys that the kid had yet to pick up.

Casualties: 200 Gluckian Prisoners, 50 Fedskian Troops, 1 Centurion, 2 APCs, a handful of jeeps. The bombs had blown part of the silo apart...but the warhead and missile still remained intact.

High Command watched in horror as the missile hit the silo. To add salt to the wound, it was not a direct hit, and there were still bits of the silo left.

"Send a team in now!" Shouted John Langley, whilst banging his fist on the table. "I want to make anyone who is not dead out of that area."

"Yes, sir!" Everyone replied.

Under the cover of night covert specialist troops armed with SS-109 Modular Pistols, and specialist Darvainian sniper rifles cept into the city of Kleepin. By amazing cloak and dagger tactics and stealth prowess they made it to the Berson estate. One by one guards fell both at the gates and fence around the estate, and the towers that watched for trouble. The silencing worked like a charm, and the men dressed in all black climbed over the fences and snuck into the mansion, securely knowing that that most the security systems within the estate were hacked and disabled by friends.
As one of the specialist crept his way into Reverend Greg Berson's bedroom, he saw him and his wife asleep. He jumped suddenly as he heard a loud alarm sound, something went wrong. He called into his walkie talkie as the couple woke up.
"Plan B! Plan B!" he cried. "Cobalt Six, Cobalt Six!"
"What's going on here!?!" Greg Berson cried as he awoke, and his security forces burst into the door, but no answers came, only gunshots. First Greg Berson gasped his finally breath as a pistol bullet sunk into his heart, and then the specialist fell dead just after him.

"Cobalt six" came the callsign to Aequatios airforce. "We'll move in when your airstrike is complete."

General Remmol looked out at his fleet. This was the largest aerial invasion in history. Two divisions of Mirkanan troops would be transported by air to invade Abberjabber, Darvainia.
Few nations were capable of such an attack. While paratroopers and gliders could deliver armies of infantry, they could not deliver heavier weapons. But Mirkana preferred tiltrotor aircraft. Over a thousand had been earmarked for this operation. In addition, helicopters were waiting on two of Mirkana's carriers - the Poseidon and the Tempest - south of Abberjabber, to deliver special forces and provide fire support to the invaders.

The battle plan was this: First, the Mirkanans would launch airstrikes to destroy air defenses. An EMP missile - calibrated for low intensity, large blast - would knock out communications and any remaining air defenses, such as Stinger missiles. Then, the Mirkanan force would assault the city from the sky. The airport would be seized quickly, to provide the tanks with an easy way in. The infantry would enter the city directly - landing on rooftops and in parks.

The plan was risky and required extensive coordination. Which was why Remmol, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Republic of Mirkana, would directly command the operation.

It was T-36 hours.

OOC: Mirkanan tiltrotors have similar range and carrying capacity to a 747. So they CAN go almost around the earth.
Would someone give me an estimate as to how many troops are in a division?

Captain Max "Demonclaw" Sanders liked this new plane. The brand-new Ebonhawk fighter-bombers had been purchased from Halbergadia at great expense. They flew great, and had quite a payload.

"Demonclaw, Jaguar. Target is in sight."
"Roger that, Jaguar. I'm going in."

Demonclaw dropped out of the clouds and headed for a cluster of anti-air weapons atop a parking garage. According to reconnaisance, the garage was being used to store armored vehicles and ammo as well. His job was to level the garage.

The AA battery noticed him, and began firing - with tracers! They would be easy to dodge. Demonclaw maneuvered his fighter around, and was about to reach the coordinates...
Two heavy bombs dropped off his wings, crashing into the parking garage. The blasts blew through the support columns, and the garage collapsed into a mountain of concrete.
