The threat that threatens.

Lazily, several hive destroyers floated through space around the newly formed hiveworld. Months before, the hive had taken the planet without much resistance, as no sentient life was inhabitted on the planet, all they had to deal with would be grizzly beasts roughly the size of bio-titans. But they were easily dispatched by a few hordes of the swarm. They would make wonderful new additions to the swarm once their genomes were infested by the swarm... But there would be no time to do that.

One of the six hive destroyers twitched a few of its appendages sensing something, but seeing nothing. The several symbiotes capable of sensory perception scanned the surrounding space, but did not see anything. Again, it slowly drifted on its patrol course.

Once again, the ship sensed something, and this time wouldn't be fooled. It started to drift towards the deeper ends of the systems, but it wouldn't get very far.

A seemingly largely modified beam of green energy struck the broadside of the Tyranid vessel. There was no bone armor to hault the beam, though it was most likely that bone wouldn't help. The side of the ship simply melted away. Several more beams sprung from space and struck the vessel. It only took several seconds for the great destroyer to be reduced to a few bloody, twitching peices.

The five other destroyers instantly reacted, and rushed towards where one of their brood had just been destroyed. But one by one, beams of green light struck each of the ships, one by one, turning each of them into small bloody masses.

With the defenders gone, the mysterious presense went to the planet. Several beams shot from space at the planets surface, decimating all of the ground swarm, and rendering the planet sterile and lifeless.

OOC: Mostly closed, there will be a few more posts like this setting up the setting. Once I get the main theme and story established I will open it to those who wish to participate.

The hive had been put on a slight alert status. Though a hiveworld and several great ships had been destroyed with such ease, the hive was confident that the ships would cease, as going any further into the empire of flesh would bring on the full wrath of the swarm.

Oh how were they mistaken.

A full tactical fleet was lurking near a well established hive world, awaiting orders to invade another uninhabitted planet. The tactical fleet may have been pudding. A torrent of great green beams flashed and dotted the hulls of the ships, each one melting away. Two hundred ships had been melted away like cheese in a microwave.

Again the planet at the staging ground was fired upon. Because this planet was rather old, and was almost all organic... the entire planet simply desintigrated.

This time they were ready. Since the 2nd attack, four more hiveworlds were attacked, and completely decimated. There were only two more planets in the way before the homeworld was threatened directly. There would be hell to pay now.

Nearly a thousand huge ships lurked by the planet. They constantly scanned, and shot bio-probes into space, waiting for a sensor reading or a reaction from this new enemy.

Fluctuations in space were starting to appear more and more, all around the planet. Slowly, ships started to trickle away from the main defense fleet, going to investigate the disturbances.

Three-fourths of the fleet was now out exploring the fluctuations, which were becoming all too common in the last day. When at their most divided and curious state, they struck.

They went straight for the jugular. Immediatly, the largest hive ship, the command ship was shot from the sky. Spine launchers barely had a chance to fire two shots before the ship we reduced to molten flesh, then quickly freezing int he vacuum of space, creating a massive distorted frozen mass of flesh.

The rest of the ships followed suit. By the tens, they were struck, and melted away like they were nothing but butter. A few ships got shots off at very unusual looking, long ships with two scythe-like "wings" protruding from rods. The spines were repelled by the energy shields, as they still fired on the ships.

A force 1/20th the size of the hive fleet had struck it down.

The queen screamed in panic.
