OOC: This is from the Hellgate signup (here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447553)). If you wish to join up ask Scellia as he's 1) the target for this front, 2) the originator of this RP.

IC:

There was a rumbling throughout the 9th Circle of Hell. Demons chattered and squeeled, and made some other, less distinguishable noises. Heat emanated from everywhere. It was, basically, hell. But not on earth. Not yet anyway. The portals had opened, Satan had ordered the materialisation of demons on the mortal plane and it had been done. Unfortunately some of the mortals had managed to get through one of the portals and before they could be captured to be tortured for their impudence, they escaped back through the portal.

Still, it was too late for the mortals. The long peace between Heaven and Hell over ownership of the mortal plane was about to be broken. The angels and other goodies would be complacent after hundreds of years with no problems from the demons. They would be owning the place before the God Squads would even be aware the truce had been broken.

And the mortals were puny. They thought that icons from their insignificant relegions could hurt them? Pah, they were merely curious shapes, nothing to be feared at all. And their weapons? A tiger could do more damage than their swords and bows. All in all it was going to be a walkover, and demons will have a nice hoiliday spot away from the torturing of all those lovely mortal souls.

The forces of Lucifer began the final preperations for the complete and utter destruction of the mortal realm. The shock demons, 2m tall creatures with leathery wings, spiny tails and vicious claws would be the first through, claiming the area for the rest of the demons to come in to. The second wave would consist of 'regular' demons: human-like with ranged weapons intergrated into their upper limbs.

With screams, growls, shrieks, and other noises, the shock demons moved towards the Hellgate. The area used to be very religious, so hopefully the majority of the mortals would just cower in fear of the stuff of nightmares. The Hellgate itself should be spreading dire portents throughout their primitive culture. As the 50 odd demons went through, each experience subtle agony as their bodies were twisted through several dimensions at once, before reaching the mortal plane.

As the first demon came through, it was dark. This was part of the plan, as it would generate the most fear in the mortals until the rest of the demons could get through.

A nameless scientist sat watching the screen, the bright red heat of the portal still as monotonous as it had ever been. It was late, 2 or 3 in the morning, so it took a few moment for what he was seeing to register. Bleary eyes blinked and a massive yawn split his face as he watched, to his sleepy astonishment as other heat signatures more powerful then the portal began to emerge. It took him fifteen seconds before he realized the magnitude of is discovery, and another ten to start incoherently shouting into the big red phone the government had so graciously provided.

Buzzz, buzzz. Buzzzz, buzzz
Sergeant John Harris rather dimly picked up the harshly buzzing phone.

"Umm hmm, yeah, heat shapes you say. Moving, right. Gawd, go contact your supervisor and get him here too, my boys will be down in a sec. Yeah I know whatever was on the other side of that portal drove your people insane. Jesus, it's 2:45am, could whatever the hell they are wait for another four hours. Whatever, bye"

Harris slammed down the receiver, awake now but no less annoyed at the time. He always went by the saying misery loves company, so it took less then ten minutes to rouse the nine other men that comprised the security detail around the portal. In body armor, but without the heavy frontline stuff only troops with BLEEX can carry, Harris and his men slowly trudge out to the portal area. Each carriers a M-11A2 5.56mm caseless rifle, fully loaded but with spare ammo. A few carry .45 ACP hanguns, but most don't want to fuss with it at 2:45 in the morning.

Hd&#Nf ) hd^$d ^d..*^ The first few demons flapped their wings experimentally, before leaping into the air and hovering several meters above the portal. The others quickly spread out and began surveying the land. They noticed the village no too far away that would be ripe with superstitious mortals. Good feeding would be theirs, the first blood of the coming Hell War would be theirs, and they were impatient.

There seemed to be a sort of construction nearer to the Hellgate than the village, and the demons senses detected several mortals inside, plus around 10 heading towards them - eager prey thought the demons. Quickly they moved forward, disturbingly silent considering they were so large. The few that were airbourne flew straight towards the prey, one of them swooping behind them, and escaping into the night sky before they realised what had happened, screeching as it escaped. The other airbourne demons sped around the mortal party, releasing unreal cackling and laughing as they swooped around.

The land party quickly reached the prey, and they also began their psycological war, running circles around the humans, ocassionally stopping to release a roar, or to rustle some bushes. They would rush inwards, dodging the lights that the mortals pointed around in a feeble attempt to spot them, before tapping one of them on the shoulder, or picking the torch out of their hands, and them fly into the sky, cackling as they soared higher.

"What the hells going on Sarge?!?"

"No %^&*ing idea, but we're calling in backup on this. *Shhhht* This is security detail at site, we're being attacked, I think, by some sort creatures that came from the portal. *Crackle*"

As he finished the sentence the night lit up with muzzleflash as one of the troopers screamed. The M-11A2 emptying all 50 rounds into the night in a few seconds, creating dancings shadows instead of the rush of air and sense of movement.

"Cease fire, cease fire! Jesus Christ, what do you think you are doing?"

"They're attacking us and look like some pseudogothic religious nightmare, oof, and I don't want the damned things poking me."

"You got a glance, damned, must be some form of power armor. Like a BLEEX intergrated into one system, that cuts it, get em boys."

The night lights up as bursts of fire from the squads M-11s try and track the winged creatures. The men curse the lack of NV goggles and reloads as the quickly use up their caseless rounds.

They called themselves the Beli-elm the watchers. And for 4040 years they ahd watched the earth below, watched humanity grow from Adam and Eve to become billions strong. They had watched for a logn time, forght off all the evil that Satan had sent to destory His chosen people.

But for the last 1000 years it ahd been quiet, too quiet the watches ahd become complacent, baliving the fires of hell to be dampening, they knew the end was come of course, He had said it would, but not just yet.

Finally though one of the Watchers saw the portal open and the deamons emerge. However he was young and inexperinced and instead of immidetly reporting this to his superiors he instead slwoly glided down for a closer look, coming down in a beam of light, white robes billowing around his slender form and a halo upon his head.

The Heavenly forces had moved witht he times though, no longer did they fight with flaming swords and wear little but golden armour, todays worriors had guns and missiles, and under there white robes where tight fitting combat jumpsuits, gold of course.

Safe in the knowlage that the humans wouldn't dare to fire upon and angel and that his suit kept him safe from harm, the watcher decded, pausing only to key in where he was going into his locator beacon.

Of course the humans had no idea of this at all. All they could see was some guy comeing down from the clouds, some unknown force. Who could balame them for shooting?

PDC Gammack
I track something, it appears on my scanners at long range and flickers with the inconsistency of stealth. After several attempts I confirm. It is slow, I identify it as a 2000 lbs glide bomb, its orgin impossible to tell and impossible to track. It could be nuclear capable, and this overrides all over safeties for it is my sole responsiblity above all others to prevent a secret nuclear attack. Three VLS cell covers on top of my armored hide pop open, and disgorge their deadly cargo of THAAD-X Missiles. Three columns of fire race skyward, going mach within the first 1,000 feet and continuing to accelerate.

The harshly masculine voice of Gammack interrupts the doze of the watch officer.

"One glide bomb, possibly nuclear, detected and engaged. Destruction 98.76%, two THAAD-X series missiles launched, scanning for additional targets. PDC Alpha alerted, awaiting orders."

OOC: THAAD-X is the high altitude interceptor that uses the same microthruster technology found on the the X series planes and AIMX missiles. See link in sig for details.

The demons danced around the mortals, laughing in the face of their prey. They had begun shooting at them with some uknown weapons - they were obviously some form of advanced bow - maybe these crossbows that were being tested last time they left. Occasionally one of the demons were hit, more by chance than by any direct action by the mortals - and boy did it sting. The demons that were hit roared in anger, and swooped down towards the offending mortal and neatly removed their head, flying upwards and dropping the severed head amongst the rest of the mortals.

To make matters worse, it seemed the God Squads weren't as inactive as first presumed - there were at least two Heaven-sent watchers patrolling the area. With a crackle of energy, one of the demons extracted itself from the play that was going on, and headed straight for the Hellgate - Lucifer would need to know about these latest turn of events. Plus, there were three columns of fire in the distance - they could only be the God Squads sending for help - no mortals could create fire that big, and high.

Lucifer's Audience Chamber
"What is the meaning of this? God Squads, columns of fire, and advanced bows! They move far more quickly than we anticipated. Move forward the schedule for the invasion - we must have the mortal plane before the Heavens literally open, and we have more than just mortals to deal with." Lucifer roared after hearing the first news from the mortal plane.

Almost immediately, the carefully laid out plans (at least for demons) were being ruined, more advanced humans than were expected; God Squad interference at a much earlier date. The second wave were being prepared for instant transportation - the site may not be secure, but once the thousnds of demons came through it would be, one way or another. The shock demon that came back was to lead the first of the second wave, guiding them towards the village to begin their reign of terror.

The hundreds of demons that were already ready, were sent through, the rest would be preapared and sent through as soon as possible. The demons underwent the same displacement as they changed planes, before exiting the Hellgate, whereupon they immediately rushed off towards the village, all semblance of order lost in their mad rush to satisfy their insane lust for terror and pain and all manner of nightmarish stuff.

OOC: Uh, all the armies of heaven can't be here. There are at least two other threads, but I think that Aust has claimed the armies of heaven stationed over Scellia. I can't wait until the demons meet their first PDC (smiles demonically).

IC:
The on call squadron of F/X-35s banked over toward the gate area, thermal scanners on full they rake the area of heat signatures. Already the nearest base had roused 10 Mk II Bolos to check out the disturbance, the blood chilling screams over the radio curdling the blood of all who listened. The F/X-35s weren't carrying full war loads, only two AIMX-9Xs and two 1,000 lbs bombs plus a full cannon load.

The ground drank thirstily of the blood of the fallen, the dead soldiers and scientists, it was not the last that ground would see of blood, it fact it was just beginning.

As the planes swept overhead, the shock demons in the air were buffeted by the vortecies created. This was unheard of - mortals in the sky, and travelling much faster than a lot of demons could. As the demons quickly turned their attention from the ground to the sky, they began to notice more of these strange flying machines the mortals had constructed. Eager to rip them form their machines, and toss theri carcasses to the ground, the demons soared towards the nearest aircraft, coming from below and slightly to the rear. Once near they headed towards the back to land on top, but retreated quickly when one went behind the aircraft into the exhaust gases and instantly disintegrated, ashes falling behind the aircraft.

The other flying demons returned, and were wary of the rear of the aircraft, coming from the front, slashing at it with their claws. They would be needing some help soon, flying for hours at a time didn't suit these warriors of the sky, and they were only intended to be airbourne for a short time to pacify the mortals.

On the ground, the much enlarged demon host began to move towards the village, finishing their games with the first human contact and killing them all. The ground shook as they marched, ran, walked, lurched forward, everyone of them intent on getting some mortal flesh between their large and imposing teeth tonight. Some of the higher ranking demons tried desperately to bring some semblance of order to the chaos that was the host, and to a degree they succeded. However as the first demons crossed the boundry of the village and began their fun, the main host was still miles away.

OOC: Scellia how far away is your nerest PDC? If its fairly close (ie upto 100km away) I'll be there shortly. *smiles even more demonically*

OOC: It could be, you decide. They are some truely awesome concentrations of firepower, I want to see what the demons do when it starts to rain 80cm artillery shells :D .

It didn't take the planes long to figure out that they were being attacked by something, and the mass of moving IR sigs were truely ominious. So they did what anyone would do, fired their missiles and started lighting up the night with tracer shells from their 25mm autocannons. Even with full ammo they have less then a minute of total firing time, and after dogfighting for that limited period of time they release their twin 1000 lbs bombs and cruise back for base. They have much intel to provide PDC Gammack.

Civilian deaths mount as the demons rampage through relatively uninhabited areas, slaughtering thousands in small towns and cities. Citizens found that running was the best bet, taking cars and fleeing as fast as possible. Soon the demons began to find deserted villages, though one demon had an interesting, if fatal, time facing down an 18-Wheeler going 80 of a freeway. It was carrying rebar for a construction project, it weighed a lot, and it hurt.

The slaughter had been good. Effective. Down right destructive. The mortals were fleeing before the power of the host, and barring some of the more unfortunate incidents, everything seemed to be going fairly well. Even with some of the more advanced weapons that the mortals had concieved in the past couple of centuries, they were dropping like flies. In fact, some of the first few demons that were taken out were beginning to heal up, though certain demons that got injured later in the attack (an incident involving a rather large wheeled vehicle seemed to stick in the mind) hadn't exactly got back up again. In fact some of them had disappeared entirely.

After the unexpected return attack by the flying vehicles, a lot of the second half of the second wave had been destroyed by some sort of explosive device - a few of the demons that had only been partially hit were beginning to heal up, though those in the centre were gone for ever. As the warriors of this new civilisation of mortals were culled, their weapons and armour were taken for identification - nothing like it had been seen before, and the rate at which it killed the demons was unheard of before now.

As the area directly surrounding the Hellgate was secure against mortal attack, some of the larger demons began to emerge, ranging from 3m tall up to a gigantic 30m tall. Though by no means that largest demons that Lucifer had at his disposal, he wanted to be sure that his most trusted demons weren't going to be destroyed by this new technology the mortals had discovered. Lucifer wondered if Heaven had broken their part in the treaty before even they did, and advanced mortal-kind so that they could combat the demons.

Some of the more aggressive 'magical' demons had decided that their spells and such like needed combat testing, especially against the new wheeled contraptions the mortals had made - comprising of mainly metal, rather than the flimsy wooden things they used to have. Fire was always a good one, and the weather could be very unpredictable.

As mroe demons flooded the Hellgate, their march seemed unstoppable - the mortals were fleeing, despite having some weapons that could actually destroy demons, and Heaven had yet to send more than just a Watcher. There was only one problem so far - demons new to the mortal plane were invincible, with far superior speed, strength and defence. However it seemed that the longer the demons stayed on the mortal plane, the weaker they became. In fact they were becoming mortal themselves. Admittedly they had superior strength and speed and suchlike, but they were less than their demonicselves had been. This was a problem.

Teh angel saw the missiles approching and swooped, trying to lose the missiles. He radioed into base, Eli Bain S'zen Ti O ATTAI! A cry for help in angel langlage. In one last desperate attempt to lose the missiles he flew downwards in a vertical dive towards the hellgate...

The Watcher came towards the Hellgate, fire coming from behind. Fearing retribution from God already, some of the weaker-minded demons fell down and began to crawl away. A few of the more powerful demons laughed and got ready to pounce of the inbound angel. The fire was no problem for them - they lived in Hell after all, source of all fire, or so its said. However the demons were beginning to wonder about the angel - the fire seemed to be following it, which was natural, but the angel seemed to be running from it rather than leading it. And the flame wasn't the usual Heaven stuff, but had more of an earthly feel to it.

The angel approached the demons, and at the last moment swooped upwards, leaving the demons to look at the incoming missile. Face on. The missile barely changed course, slamming straight into the Hellgate, the highest source of heat nearby. The Hellgate withstood the blast, but numerous demons aroudn the gate didn't. Those in Hell didn't feel a thing, the blast weakening as it passed the dimensions, and entered the furnace that was Hell.

OOC: Wah, I didn't see new posts here, sorry.

IC:

The three missiles who easily made the turn, small rockets firing on the side of each whipping it around, and found themselves face to face with a large IR signature. They collectively divvied up the targeting assignment and one missile streaks in at the exhaust port of a large bomber (the Hellgate) while the other two continue to follow the LADAR signature that is the angel.

At this point the satellite imagery has confirmed the extent of the invasion, and the PDCs start to act. PDC Gammack dispatches a force of 100 Mk III Bolos and 300 Mk II Bolos, nearly half its tank strength. However they won't encounter the demonic horde until morning, it is the strike force of 1200 F/X-35s carrying maximum ground munitions and 360 B/X-2s. Each F/X-35 carries 12 500 lbs bombs internally and exteriorly, each B/X-2 carries a similar loadout but with 48 500 lbs bombs instead of 12. The first plane arrives in 1 hour, the first wave of 1,000 cruise missiles in fifteen minutes, another from a different PDC arrives fifteen minutes after that. The demons are in for a long hour until the planes arrive, and then it gets even worse.

And all heaven errupted amongst the demons. What seemed like fire from God, as the pathetic mortals couldn't ever create such power (even given the so called advanced technology seen so far), decimated the demon hordes, as they basked in their destruction, playing with mortals however they felt. The bombs caused a massive conflagaration to sear the entire area, and those that weren't impervious to fire, or couldn't escape disintegrated as the fire ripped through their ranks.

Some of the magical demons began to test shielding spells, creating areas of sanctuary for the demons as the firestorm raged around them. Some of the demons with better eyesight saw the incoming aircraft and warned the other demons before speeding off into the distance, flying higher than any of the aircraft as they gained height and speed. Some of the faster ones approached Mach 4 as they revelled in the feeling of speed. Some large demons had emerged now, some flying, some walking, a few burrowing. The winged monsters, the average size being around 20m long, took off, circling the Hellgate as they went higher and higher. The walking ones trudged off towards the nearest mountain, their 30m tall profiles giving them some measure of invincibility as they caused minor earthquakes as they went forward.

The burrowing monster headed deeper, their bodies playing host to a large number of smaller demons - transport demons if you wish. Their aim was one of the larger concentrations of mortals in the area, hoping to distract the warriors of this plane. Many other demons followed through the tunnels created by these monsters, plus a few of the magical demons, casting various protection and hiding spells as the went.

The angel continued dodgeing and weaving, just avoiding the missile by matters of millermeters each time, he'd maaged to get rid of one, but not the others.

Seeing that they targeted the greatest sorce of heat the angle swooped again, and again aiming for the hellgate. hoping to lose another one of the missiles.

As the Watcher swooped back towards the Hellgate, the demons were ready. The magicians began to cast their spells, creating a shield around the gate. As the missiles and the Watcher neared the Hellgate, demons began throwing fire, hoping to hit the Watcher and distract the missiles.
