A random portal open with your nation, your scientists are baffled as to exactly how it works, but are working on several theories. The average temperature on the other side of the portal is measured at 200 F, a virtual inferno compared to Earth. You send a scientific team through, and you learn what is on the other side. Hell.

A vast army of demons, ranging from midget sized imps to three story tall colossus, awaits on the other side of the portal. Half your scientific team is currently in the psyche ward and rumours of the portal abound your nation. Appearently the devil has decided that 2005 is the year of judgement, and Hell is about to unleash its armies upon the world.

OOC: How this is going to work is we need people to volunteer to play the side of Hell, then we need nations to be the ones with Hellgates in them. If you really want to you can involve allies who won't have Hellgates in their nation, but thats really up to them. The idea here is that as of 10,000 B.C. humanity had nothing that could even hurt an imp, but now a .50 will tear the smaller stuff a new one. Even the big stuff is going to end up feeling a 150mm ETC round to the chest, and dropping 35 tons of HE on anything will make it into goo.

The armies of Hell aren't going to really expect this, remember technology didn't really change all that much in those supposed days when the divine and unholy stuff was "on" Earth. However the armies of Hell are going to be huge, and just because they are demons doesn't mean that they can't use tactics.

It depends on how many people we get to RP their nation with a Hellgate in it, and how many people we get to RP the armies of Hell. To make this work we need good RPers, no OMG T3H D3M0NZ 0WnZ J00!!!! Not only that but this is in your own country, you aren't going to be able to toss around nukes without some significant damage to your own stuff. This includes tactical nukes, this is the heartland of your country. For now the Hellgates are invulnerable, but that will change near the end of the RP.

We the Hell-spawn would like to play the part of the Demon army.

I'm hoping that we will get more then one person to play the part of Hells army, since if we have six nations then it will be hard for one person to play as Hell against all of them. I'll put you as one of the Greater Daemons now.

Unfortunately I can be involved now because I’m in an RP now with another two more planned to start soon but I have to say this is an awesome idea and I would have loved to play as a demon army.

I would very much like to join, preferably as my own nation. If absolutely necessary for the balance of the RP and the harmony of the universe and all that, I can do demons too. But humans are definitely my first choice.

I'll take part in this, i'll be the nation where the Hellgates open up at first, if thats ok.

I'm going to have the Hellgates open up everywhere at once, otherwise the other nations get warning instead of being surprise. Other wise that means we have Zarlon and Ximea for as themselves.

Flightopia woud like to be a nation with a hellgate. I'm already mulling over how a TOW missile would do.

I'm interested in joining, possibly as the demons, but I'm curious as to what forces I'd be expected to wield? Would it be pretty much what I can conjure up in my mind (with weaknesses of course) or would it have to conform to some sort of basic group?

I'm thinking whatever I can think up as they are from nightmares, but I'm not sure. Chalk me up for the demons at the mo though.

I would be highly interested in joining. You can place me on whatever you want. I would enjoy to be someone to have a hellgate suddenly pop up in the Motherlands, however if you believe there needs to be another person role playing the Greater Daemons, then I will do that if you so choose.

Demons are whatever you want them to be, assuming they fit the weakness I described. So now we have Warshrike and Phoenixius on Hells side and Anagonia with a new resident portal to Hell.

What about a small group of my nations samurai getting involved? I rp as japanese medieval tech, but a hellgate is a possible scenario since there are many legends pertaining to a doorway between heaven-earth-hell. And I can see my daimyo sending a group of 'blessed' samurai to help defeat the evil horde, and to close the gate to Japan.

What are your opinions? By no means is a demon less susceptible to a sword than a bullet. Especially one that was made over a course of 73 days, blessed by the spirits 1000 times, and its maker having purified himself for a month before making it.

I like the idea, very much like the Endgate Rp's that happened a while back-anyway is there a sort of heaven frection? seeing as the apocolypis is happening and (I guess) there should be. I'd play them, if not then I'll be a guy with a hellgate.

Of course the humans don't actually know which sides good and which is bad and will just shoot each in equal mesure...

Another suggestion of mine: Tjis photo gave me a idea.

I don't know if you know the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy, most of it is very similar to this, tying it in might be easy, nd the guys who are playing the satanic forces may want to look at the Lord Asriel caracter (Pullmans Satan) for some inspiration. Theres a few other bits in there that if I was playing the role of the evil side I'd look at.

Other places for information and inspiration could be (of course) the Bible, blake, Paradise Lost, The Wish List (Eoin Colfer) and Good Omens (Terry pratchett

I guess you could be the heaven faction, especially since a lot of nations are secular/atheist so they could refuse to accept the heaven side. So sure, but angels are as vulnerable to ATGM as demons are, and just like the devil can't reach out directly you can't use Wrath of God (TM) to blow up anything you want. This, BTW, reminds me of a really funny quote...

I'll go update the list now, any other nations can sign up for the heaven complement too, same rules apply as the demon one.

EDIT: I want to keep this MT, unless you're going to be using the sort of demons I describe. Most FT demons are far beyond the ones I'm thinking of here, for the reasons I said in the crossovers thread. Do you want me to put you down for the side of Hell, since each Hell commander is going to be using a different type of demon then it doesn't matter where they come from.

Actually, I was thinking of the likes of Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho, those sort of demons. They're tough, but nothing a good army can't handle, until you get to the Upper C classes and higher... (E is human, then D, C, B, A, and S is superdemon, like Satan himself)

As for the 'heaven' comment: LOL! Yeah. My spatial weapons would definitely be the Wrath of God. Not that I'd use 'em...

Well seeing as most deamons are actually fallen angels then odviously angels would be vonurable. And i would use big G as he is the most powerful guy in the universe and could kill everyone very easly.

As for the comment on his dark materials, yes the ending is sad, but would you cange it?

I like the addition of the Heavengate. I've read both the Dark Trillogy and Good Omens - both great books/series. I might get inspiration from the Warhammer/ 40k universes too.

Ill join up... as one of the nations that have the portal in it. Given the nature of my army, I will probably try to get a bunch of chemical shells in... and eventually the Supreme Commander will try out some Tactical Nukes if things begin to go badly.(I am a dictatorship after all) Just one question... this is one of those RPs where stuff that happens in said RP doesnt affect you on the rest of NS, right?

Well, I think that just about closes it. Juumanistra and Red Tide2, I'll add you to the list. This will be way too confusing for a single thread, so demons, pick your partners and start invading. Once a country has been chosen you will can't have your Hellgate in it, one of the demons needs to have two Hellgates, so whoever claims two first is it. Be sure to check and not post a thread about a country that already has a Hellgate, from here on out I'm going to be pretty much hands off so you're on your own. Of course the countries of the world ca help each other, and the demons don't HAVE to fight one another, but then again they are demons. Demons, be sure to put the name of the country that has your Hellgate in the title, and none of this will effect any RPing you're doing in the real NS world. Ready, set, apocalyse!!!

I meant that there are one more human players then demon players, so one demon player must have two Hellgates so each country get one. The heaven gate can be where ever.

Yes, its for sure on the multiple threads. (Imagines trying to do six different conflict in one thread, shudders.) Demons get to choose, and it is first come first serve.

Each demon will post a thread, in the title it will have the name of a country not already having a Hellgate in it. The demon will then proceed to attack the county in the title through the Hellgate, the demon may only use that Hellgate and cannot receive reinforcements from other demons unless they hook up with them in NS land. The countries may help each other if they want to, but are limited by the normal things like logistics and travel time. Does that explain it better?

OK, now I am confused...I am or I am not allowed to be in the rp? I use medieval tech, but if any of you have read "King of Shannara" then that shouldn't be a problem.

I rp as the ruler of ancient Japan under Oda Nobunaga...so it would be cool to have some portal of hell open in the north and the armies of samurai are sent by the Emperor to destroy them and safe the Land of the Gods.

Tooky, we have demons doing double duty right now, not nations with two Hellgates. Try being a demon, you're rather new here so as a suggestion you might want to write out your long RP posts in Word before posting them, it is what I do with the really long ones to keep out spelling errors etc.

Scellia, you might want to add those other two mortal nations onto the list at the beginning - at the mo it looks like 4 human : 5 demon : 2 angel

No, they're way too powerful. It would be like using the Culture or 5th Empire, I saw parts of your war with GA and when you get past nukes then you're out of the realm of power that can be used in these RPs. It would take the point and fun out of them, you can however be on the heaven side as normal angels etc.

A few small question. I've glanced over most of the posts, but haven't found what I'm looking for.

First, will this be going nation by nation? Like first you get attacked, and the roleplaying there happens and then it ends, then someone else gets attacked? Or is this an all out assault, an all or nothing gamble?

Second, if the answer to the first one is the former of the two. Can we send in forces to assist?

Any nation, currently signed up for a Hellgate or not, can send aid to a Hellgated nation. So if you have kicked the demons back and have built defenses around the portal that would make the Atlantic Wall look like a line in the sand then you can go help other people.

EDIT: Tooky, you're a demon, Jagada is a human nation.

Alright, so is it the responsibility of players to decide whom attacks whom? I'm assuming the Player VS. Player fighting is generally designed around the Operation Hellfire (AKA: Automagfreek Vs Preatoria) system?

Look at the Hellgate thread I've mentioned earlier, and the other two that have been posted. This is the general format, with the nations having no reason to ally at first.

Sorry to be so nit picky. But you seem have to misplaced me and Tooky. I believe hes suppose to be in the Greater Demons and me in the Nations of the World. Or has there been a change?

As we continue to have a disparity between demon nations and mortal nations, might I make a suggestion? Priority be put on getting a gate, be it a hellgate or heavengate, in each mortal nation. This allows everyone to participate and mobilizes the angelic nations who are, at the moment, doing nothing. Besides, there's no reason to assume an angel would be any less susceptible to a bullet than a demon, should there be a massive misunderstanding and a shooting war starting between mortal and angelic realms.

So...anyone want to open a gate in my backyard?

Since people are still signing up I'm going to restate, and people currently signed up need to do this.

Demon nations, start a new thread with the title of a nation listed under nations of the world that does not have a Hellgate in it. Then, you start to invade. Use the current threads as examples, if you already have a gate and there is an unclaimed nation of the world, go open one in their country, if you feel like it.

Scellia, maybe you should put on the first post here a link to each war, and put a marker indicating which nations have Hellgates. That should allow for the demons to choose a target much more easily that having to search for various Hellgate threads.

Here is the two I can find so far, I know there is a third but it is buried. Once it comes to the top(so I know it is still active) I'll post it. So far Anagonia and I are the ones with the Hellgates(that I could find).

OK, so I rp as medieval tech folks, and at this moment I have some 40 highly skilled warrior monks who have an ancient artifact capable of taking them to a designated place and time. So who would like to see some smaurai open up a can of whoop-ass on some demons? I need a nation to 'play host' to my forces in helping them get rid of their hellgate.
