Unusual Occurance in Deep Space (FT Intro)
A new system was recently discovered when an unexplained spike of energy came from an apparently unoccupied location in the galaxy. Upon further investigation, nearby nations soon discovered there was a system there that could support life without terraforming.
On Planet Vedalka, in the Lumana System
In a large circular chamber at the top of a tower, five blue skinned men and women meet to discuss a very important issue regarding a very large explosion. They all wore dark blue robes with silver lining, and held metallic staffs that could channel magical energy into material forms in trained hands.
Each sat in a padded chair with subtle curvature as to best support the body. The largest of them, a man just short of two meters, spoke first.
"Does anybody know how the Divisate were able to develop such a weapon?"
"It seems they managed to acquire an Arcanate sympathizer. He was destroyed in the blast, from the looks of things."
The older of the two women, who's black hair had started to fade to blue with age, turned toward her younger counterpart who had spoken.
"Along with most of the vedalken populace and the entire Divisate Movement."
"How are we to recover from such a disaster?"
The youngest male had spoken out of turn, but was calmed by the last member of the ruling council, the Arbitrate. Pulling back his hood, the silver-skinned elder sighed before speaking.
"The surviving Arcanate will help the Technicate and Intelligate recover. The recently deceased could even potentially be revived if the attack was purely arcane and devoid of physical damage."
"If we should be so fortunate." The younger woman leaned forward to provide emphasis on her upcoming point. "However, we should still consider the possibility that such is not the case."
The tall Delegate nodded in agreement. "We should recoup our losses in our territories first until we are ready to tend to other islands. We should begin by-"
"Why not just figure out if it was pure arcane now?" The other four Delegates blinked in suprise at the young man's rudeness, but he continued. "If we uses emission reflection technology with some data processing magic, we could figure it out from here."
The tall man and the women moved to object, but the elder Delegate made the gesture to continue. This could be used to tell someone to elaborate, but everyone knew he was suggesting the young delegate act on his idea.
"Thank you for your support." The young delegate walked toward the balcony and held up his staff. Focusing in the direction of the nearest island his in full by the blast, he sent out a pulse of mystic energy.
"While we wait for him, we should discuss the political issues this scenario brings." The young woman nodded toward the balcony and the city below. "This is just the thing the syndicates need to take full governmental authority."
"They took just as much damage as we did, so they wouldn't risk-"
"It's pure arcane."
After being interrupted for the second time, the tall Delegate turned to point out the younger man's rudeness before realizing the signifigance of what he was saying.
The silver skinned elder smiled as he hoped that any new events would be equally pleasant.

The young Delegate suddenly opened his eyes in suprise. "Life." Although this seemed at first to be good news, he slowly began to move his fingers around in front of his face as though he were trying to handle emmense numbers on one hand. "Too much life..."
The young woman got up and walked over to him with a curious look on her face. "What do you mean? Are the surviving Arcanate restoring the dead already?"
"No, not life here. Not life on Vedalka." This statement brought the others to rise, and they felt out with their minds for the energy he was receiving. The entire Arbitrate was suddenly overwhelmed by the reflection of the energy from the explosion off other worlds.
The elder was the first to speak. "We will not be the only ones to assess the damage in the manner we had. The people will know soon enough that there is life on other worlds."
The tall man nodded and stumbled to the balcony to look at the streets below. As expected, Arcanates were either teleporting aid to the afflicted islands or being stunned by the revelation the Delegates just had. "We will need to make it clear our stance on this."
"But more importantly," The elder woman pulled herself out of her chair with minor difficulty. "We need to organize the recovery. Get the population focused on the problem at hand instead of potential issues."
"I will try to find out the capabilities and motives of the aliens. The rest of you go about seeing to the restoration of the status quo." The silver elder moved toward the balcony, sat down in a meditative position, pointed his staff toward the nearest living system, and began to search for contact. The rest of the Arbitrate nodded before leaving to various tasks.

A border patrol had been alerted to this development; a rush of energy and destruction; a beautiful blossoming of chaotic madness across that starlit bridge of void; the Galaxy yawning before them. The ship slid through the warp; a strange sight; its immense red hull lined with gilded skulls; taken from uncountable victims; gargoyles vomitted blood into the awaiting abyss; and the entire vessel seemed to glimmer with Runes and Sigils.
This was the flagship of Radu Vykos; the Metamorphoses and it had been sent forth by the divine will of his father, the Emperor, to seek out the source of this immense signal. He was young in the ways of the Imperium; yet old in the ways of Khorne. There are worlds in the Imperium where the radience of blood red suns drives men to madness. Radu Vykos was a Herder of the Koradrim for years, before the Star Gods came from above. They gave them armor; weapons; skills. They taught them martial prowess and they set the world to the flame. All he cared for was the howl of the blood wind when he killed; the roar of the daemon fire that was sated on life and souls, and skulls....
He paused; smirking slightly to remember it. He had been chosen; made a Primarch, given a legion; and now he went forth; tearing into the Lumana system as he gazed out at the void; now dotted with planets. The braziers of writhing fire seemed to burn brighter as his gleaming red and black armor sent scattered reflections about the vessel; his long, braided hair, sliding down his sleek back. His eyes were like gleaming orbs, alive with fire as he stared about him. Another system; more worlds...And the chaotic glow of a far off sun; reds and ambers and ochres dancing in its flaming depths.
It felt all too much like a home; all too much alive with the raw glow of Hell....
Alone on the balcony, a silver skinned Delegate named Sunaja reeled back in shock at the minds he felt. Driven by bloodlust, clouded from reason, it was clear that peace not probably. Turning toward a Technicate attendant, he pulled himself off the ground.
"An alien vessel that travels the void has entered the system. Their minds are devoid of logic and clouded with irrational desire for destruction. We need our military prepared immediately, and a raised state of alert. No transmissions that would enter the void, though."
"It would be very difficult to communicate in such-"
"They may not know we are here. If we're lucky, they won't notice us, will be blinded of Vedalka's life by the wake of the blast. I shall continue to observe the situation."
The Technicate nodded and ran off to the null chute, floating down to the communication center of the Arbitrate Tower. Sighing, Sunaja returned to his observations of the nightmare legion looming over his world.

"Analysis?" Radu spoke with measured tones; watchign the tech priest at work; it's intricately applied implants gleaming in its face and upon its body; tendrils waving about it, interfacing and attending to the rites of analysis and invocation.
"We have some readings; leftovers from the weapons; along with potential inhabitants."
"Excellent; continue the work. What say the Astropaths?"
"They are reading the tarot as we speak; they speak of disturbance in their communications."
"Show me.." His fanged maw closed, and he chuckled softly to himself; moving to observe.
The Astropath let his fingers caress the back of the card; looking about him, sightlessly. The thin metal band covering his bare sockets. He hissed softly, blood running from the cavities as he turned the card. His voice echoed and boomed about them, in their very minds as it spoke.
Discovery; new races, new worlds...But they shall reject the ways of the Gods. They do not know the truth behind the stars! The Blackness behind the world! They see not! They see not the limitless gulfs of blackness; only their light...War may come; destruction; death; blood...The runes are unclear; the cards do not speak with one voice...
"Excellent.." Radu whispered; chuckling once more. "Ready an exploration party; I'm leading the Men down."
"Aye Lord..."
Teleporter arrays whirred as the gauntleted hand of Radu grasped his cruel curved chainsword and ornately carved dagger, gleamign with obsidian, adamant and warpstone. He felt himself lose his place; and transit towards the world; appearing simultaneouly with the group of 16 Berzerkers; and a group of his own personal Marines; the Rabid Seraphim; their armor gleaming bone white and blood red; devoted disciples of Khorne...
"Shall we?" His hiss echoed across the world.
Sunaja cringed at the voice in his mind, and channeled his energy into his staff.
Guardians of Vedalka, Sentinels of the Isle of Lumana, attend your Delegate and defend your race. An alien race is coming, and their intent may prove ill.
Sunaja sighed as a trio of Arcanates teleported to the tower and began to move toward Sunaja to defend him, each one bringing two or three infantrymen who spread to the edges of the chamber, fulling equipped with beam rifles, nullflares, and stealthsuits.
"I have not only called you, but the representative force of the aliens. They will no doubt arrive soon, either by vessel or teleportation. Stand ready to fight, but let diplomacy be an option."

"Sir..."
"What?"
"Something is pulling us out of hyperspace."
"... Wha..."
Just before he, the newly assigned captain of an aging freighter, could ask again, the small convoy of sorts dropped into real space, which was, simply put, highly unusual. Unprecedented.
"... Where are we?"
The display screen showed a full blown star system that shouldn't have been there.
"This system isn't in our charts. Can't really say."
"Differences in dimensions or something?"
"There are no traces of any corporation ever claiming this place, sir."
"So that'd be a yes."
"Yes, sir."
He looked up and sighed. Something always had to happen on his watch.
"Alright. Scan it, tag it and send the info back to Rubi-Ka."
"Yes, sir."

A Necropolis class heavy warship dropped to sublight on the edge of the system. The U.E.O. had sent her to investigate the massive explosion in this system. A combat vessel was sent as anything that could create such a large boom might prove to be dangerous.
The Necropolis, first of her class (and currently only one as well), engaged her sublight engines and headed deeper into the star system.
While Sulaja awaited an alien invasion, one of the survivors of the Divisate explosive was slowly regaining conciousness. How she had survived was a miracle in itself, but she soon realized that it was probably an 'eye of the storm' sort of effect. It was a good thing she had to be close to disarm it.
Seeing her partner dead, she quickly analyzed the body with a simple processing spell. His neurons were inert, but he was otherwise stable. He could easily be revived by an Arcanate who was familiar with biology. Luckily for her, all Arcanates were familiar with all sciences, and she was no exception.
Holding her partner's head in her lap, she craddled him on the synthfiber armor while focusing on the cells of his body. She saw sparks fly in her mind, and suddenly there was a gasp from her lap as her partner sat up.
"Relax. You were dead."
Dazed, he leaned against a blast-charred wall with a jittered nod. She pulled herself up with a little effort, and began looking around for a functional transmission terminal. She could send out communication waves, but not at a trans-island range.
After some searching, she found one and sent out a call for help. Realizing she had pointed it skyward, she tried to adjust to another island. Nothing. Sighing, she began to look for other vedalken to rescue.
OOC: The wave was pointed away from Chronosia, toward whichever other arrival picks it up. It uses a dual frequency of telepathic and radio. There's the matter of language barrier, but the location can be pinpointed.

The captain was idly tapping the armrest of his seat. The job of a captain was to act as an authority figure on the deck, someone who the rest could depend on when things went wrong, but usually it just meant he would have nothing to do while the others work their asses off. Which was nice enough, if you happened to be the type who likes doing nothing and getting paid for it.
Of course, that's how it is on freighters. Warships would be a different story altogether. And that's what he had been, before he had gotten demoted. Right before the disturbance.
The ship was almost in orbit of a planet that seemed to be habitable. At least, if the ship was to break down, they wouldn't die...
"We're picking up something, sir."
The captain quickly raised his eyes from the ground and forgot what he was thinking about. One of the officers needed attention.
"And what's that?"
"I think something's trying to communicate with us from the planet, but the way they're doing it is kind of... Unusual."
"Elaborate."
"Well, it's affecting the nanobots, sir. It slightly dropped their efficiency. They're draining the notum somewhat faster now."
"Well, isn't that just great."
"Should we try to send out a transmission?"
"Sure. How sure can we be on someone actually being here?"
"Well... Pretty sure, sir. Not 100%... I'd say the odds are good."
"Alright."

Aries-Class Heavy Cruiser - ACH Justice - Long-Range Patrol 200 Light-years from Epsilon Suri
Admiral Octavius Snider had been in the service of the Anagonian Navy for over Two Hundred years, Five Hundred years of his life had been spent in the service of the Motherland of Anagonia. He was old, a Seven Hundred year old Komodren to be exact. His experience was valued by all around him. He had requested a long-range mission a few months ago, if only for the specific reason to get away from the Nova Kretani system for a while. He had had enough of petty politics, and enough of the random babble. It was peace-time anyway, and even if it wasn't he wouldn't know at this range in space.
Epsilon Suri was a Border System, making up the territorial line that faced near the Galactic Core. From from it, yes, but that didn't matter to Octavius. He was just glad he was away, far away. He had family, but like him most were in the Republic Star Navy. Basically, everyone he knew was used to being away from one another for long periods.
He sighed, his tail sliding on the floor for a short period. It had been a boring week. Usually there would be a random occurance that made his duties interesting. But not today. His fleet was compromised of two Hailstorm-Class Battlecruisers and four Blazing Blue class Scout Ships. None, so far, had detected anything either. He felt a the ship jolt, a Scout ship had docked with the Justice. The Commanders of the Three-man ships usually did so to resupply, or some other regular purpose.
His Second-in-Command, High Commander Douglas Erasmo looked up from his seated console to the Admiral. He was only a fifty year old human, but his experience was valued just the same.
"I believe we have something," started Douglas, "just a small blip, but our sensors registered it as strong, even from this distance."
"Where is it?" Octavius Snider looked at the High Commander, his reptilian gaze an all-to usual thing by now.
"Three hundred lights from here," Erasmo grinned, he knew that the Admiral wanted to do something after a noneventful week. "Should be two jumps at safe. Its away from our borders, but that shouldn't bother you."
Admiral Snider nodded, a slight smile. "No, it won't. Tell all ships to ready Sub-Space drives. Were heading on an adventure."
The High Commander nodded, looking back at his console, typing. He smiling himself, pressing in the commands. About time, Douglas thought to himself, thought we would stay our course forever.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Lone Heavy Cruiser Justice, the two Battlecruisers, and the four Scout Ships slowly started to come to a stop. A electric-like wave covered each, all having at least a dozen bolts of particles flash randomly into space. They turned light blue, then grew darker. Their forms hidden beneath a shield-like oval. Then, with a bright flash, they were gone. All that was left was empty space.

The Necropolis smoothly slides into a standard orbit around Vedalka. She silently watched the other ships. A Tel'tac launches and begins to head towards the surface of the planet with a single Death Glyder fighter escort.
Mohas's partner, Guio, managed to pull himself to the transmitter. He wasn't an Arcanate, but he could probably contact whatever that new star actually was.
As he got the transmitter, the star beat him to the punch. The system's autotrans managed to decypher the language. It was ridiculously inefficient and barely tapped subconcious concepts, but he could get off the basics.
"I am Officer Guio. There has been a accident on surface. Many dead. Can you get help of this Omni-Tek?"

The sensors of the Tel'tac locked onto the Vedalkan transmission and altered course for the origin.
Within a few minutes, the ship was hovering over the ground near the point where the transmission had originated. The Tel'tac spun to allow itself to fit into the confined landing area choosen. Her short "wings" retracted to allow the ship to settle down flat. The Glyder zoomed around over-head.
Guio blinked in suprise at the ship. It had a marginally efficient design, although there were some minor elements that didn't seem to serve any practical function. He had lost his rifle during the breakin to the Divisate safehouse, but he still had a nullflare just in case.

He watched at the display screen that showed the planet with which occupants they were supposedly in contact with. Some data windows flashed through it as some unidentified space craft were located and such, but it didn't worry him much. It'd be something for the escorts to worry about if they were to fall under attack.
He couldn't idle for long. Just a few minutes and they had a reply.
"Sir, they seem to be replying."
"Alright, put it on."
There it was, the confirmation they needed. Living, sentient beings did populate the planet. To some extent, anyway. But would they be of any worth monetarily to Omni-Tek would remain to be seen.
"Curious."
Just like they themselves really, the locals needed help. Although the problems planetside seemed far more dire.
While it was possible that Omni-Tek could help them, it'd take weeks, maybe even months for any aid to actually reach the system. But the captain knew that they did not know enough about the locals nor the system to just turn them down. Who knows, maybe they would turn out to be good customers later on.

As I said before, we are stranded in this system - for the time being. We
can't leave. Otherwise we would have most likely just counted this as a disturbing
malfunctioning of the ship's hyperdrives. But not only are the drives still
supposedly working at peak capacity, the whole convoy was yanked out of
hyperspace.
And I never said that we would not be capable of helping you - I said that we

"However you can. Sending global map with information on afflicted locations. Do not come here though. Another ship is here, hostility unknown."
Staying by the communicator, he analyzed the new arrivals. He didn't see any armaments as of yet, and they seemed to be able to breath oxygen as well. Hopefully they exhaled carbon dioxide or some other gas more complex than oxygen, though.

A distortion appeared in the darkness of space, a slight thing, nothing unusual. Many who would see it would believe it was a glitter, or their eyes. However, soon specific places in space warped, and from their warped darkness came light. Bolts of beautiful streaks of particle light. It soon grew larger, then slowed its growth. Within a four-second period, it was over, a flash of brilliant light, perhaps as bright as a sun, occured. But, that too was short lived, and within its place was a small fleet of ships.
"Report," Admiral Octavius Snider gazed at the large screen that made up the front of the bridge. His second-in-command, High Commander Douglas Erasmo, lookedup from his Command console to the Admiral.

We shall unify all humanity, and enslave the Xenos! We shall bend their technology to our wills! And become Master's of all before us; we shall show our rivals true faith!"
He chuckled blackly. "Forward! For Khorne! War calls, exploration and conquest beckons! Progress through bloodshed! Glory in Flame!"
Sunaja looked skyward and saw what they faced. He could tell they were as brutal and inefficient as he had felt. Looking at one of the sentinels, or at least where he though one was, he gestured toward a panel.

The Arbitrate each took what the apparent warlord said without betraying their thoughts, and it was the youngest among them who was first to speak. He chuckled softly, lightly, amused, almost. "You are a race not wise in the ways of the Warp; it is not surprising you know nothing of the Gods of Chaos"
The older woman smiled politely as she held out her hand. She snapped her fingers, and the noise was coupled with light that went across the room in a shockwave, reverberating as the echoing sound did. "Our magic comes from what we refer to as Dikera, or Transate Energy. Our race can sense it as naturally as light, sound, or heat. It is intriguing to see your magic is also crafted from the Dikera."
"Perhaps the Dikera and Warp are the same, and we are more able to sense it." The tall Delegate laughed down the wiry man's suggestion.
"I highly doubt these gods would allow us to be incapable of believing in them if we built our civilization around their means of influence. The Warp more likely hasn't a resonant influence on the Dikera, or the other way around."

"Perhaps. we travel in the Warp; we use it as a power utilised by the mind; and we bend it to our will in sorcery. As it has many powers; many abilities; perhaps your power is akin to it. But not entirely of it; for without knowledge; or with wanting; comes corruption. The only way to defeat it; is to tame it; bend it. And so we embrace the black splendor of the Gods; and their influences upon the Material realm"

High above the planet, a single vessel emerged from hyperspace, an explorer and diplomat by trade, Kharonas was a Protoss Grand Templar, one of the mightiest of the already powerful psions of the Protoss.
There was trouble in the system, the Imperium was already here, and he had to try and dissuade the people of this world from joining their perfidous ranks.
"Well, in any case, we diverge from the subject at hand. If your resources are as vast as you suggest, then perhaps in the treaty between our peoples you might be willing to provide some form of aid in our recovery from the travesty that struck our planet?" Sumaja seemed to smile, mimicing the human behavior as best as his lack of experience allowed. Not only was this character irrational, but a fanatic. They are easily manipulated.

"Assuming that we can come to an arrangement that benefits both of us" He chuckled softly; they thouhgt he was malleable clay; he was iron. Steel; he would not be molded to their will; but would force them to move with him; a structure for them to follow."
He smiled again, bowing lightly in almost mock reverence. "If you can provide us with resources and benefits; perhaps then we shall consider aiding you in turn. This is the way of the Imperium; much can be gained through sacrifice"
Sumaja nodded to the youngest female member of the Arbitrate, who summoned a simple sphere.
"This," Sumaja spoke cleanly, "Is what we call a Convertant. Simply put, it converts energy from the Dikera into mundane energy power. Such devices, albeit on a larger scale, power all our technology in some form or another. They can last for dozen of millenia theoretically, and release no negative emmision. It is essentially the perfect source of power."

"Sub-Space successful, took a long time for two jumps, but we got here."
"Are you sure we are near where the source origionated?"
"Yes sir," responded the High Commander.
"Good." Octavius' voice raised suddenly, "Have the fleet scan with Intense Microwaves, I want to know everything about whats near us."
"Aye sir," responded someone from on the bridge.
"Inform all craft to go to Alert Level yellow, have weapons ready."
"Aye sir," someone else responded from the bridge.
Admiral Octavius Snider yawned, his jaw stretching and cracking, releasing built up jaw pressure. There was nothing major going on, and his Long-Range patrol fleet had stayed its position. Occasionally the Scouts had docked for leave here and there, but nothing major. Last night, the Captains of each ship came together for a card game, Octavius lost but it was an enjoyable game nonetheless.
However, now, seeing as nothing would most likely ever happen, he patted High Commander Douglas Erasmo on the shoulder, his reptilian hand patting harder than a normal humans.
"I'm taking my leave for tonight, if anything happens, wake me."
Douglas nodded, "Don't worry about a thing. I doubt nothing will happen, anyway."
A slight grin off the Komodren's face, Admiral Snider just nodded, then walked off to a door, and dissappeared behind it.

Slowly, the old reptilian sat on his bed, gazing about his room that his desk-light exposed. It wasn't much, perhaps the size of a normal one-story bedroom. Had its luxuries, a closet for clothes, a bathroom, a desk in the corner, and a nightstand with a lamp. Basic things a Captain would have, but even as he was an Admiral he enjoyed its level of grace. Personally, he didn't like luxury all that much.
He set his alarm clock for 0630, set his pad on the nightstand, and lied back, covering up. His head rested on the pillow, easily relaxing his snout. With a slow breath out, he started to sleep.

The Goa'uld woman looked up and said, in perfect Vedalkan, "This device is designed to heal. Of course, it and other devices are designed to work only with a being that has a specific element in their system. My race is the only known species with that element in our biology. My name is Kandra, by the way."
Guio nods, and allows a slight smile at the luck of the visitors being able to speak the best vocal language in existence.
"And as I said before, I am Guio. I wonder if the Dikera could be used to power the device. However, I am only distracting you. I shall assist your medics who do not use such a device."
So saying, Guio runs off to the nearest medic, who is having difficulty due to lack of familiarity with Vedalken anatomy.
"It is a rib fracture, here. Internal motion shall press it into place, but binding will be neccesary to hold it until proper medical facilities can be put to use. Let me help."

"If you speak of perfection; you should speak with my brother, Remiel. Slaanesh offers him perfection; and happy are those who are called to the feast of it. Yet he burns himself out long before I shall. The Bloodlust of Khorne is eternal; the power of Khorne is infinite!" He cackled darkly. "There is much left for you to learn of the universe; there are more things in the Materium and the Immaterium; than can be fathomed by your science and magic"

Kandra chuckles at the native's eagerness to help while her symbiote concentrates on using the Healing Device.
Sumaja nods as he looks over the warlord's thoughts on the nature of the Slaaneshi sect.
"He seeks asthetic perfection, not functional. The two are diametrically opposite ideals, almost always mutually exclusive. Shall we continue negociating, or do you have more god praising to perform?"
The last statement was a blatant display not of contempt or arrogance, but impatience.
