Austria-Hungary (Pre-WWI) was an assortment of nations including modern day Hungry, former Yugoslavia, parts of Czechoslovakia (Sudentland), pieces of Romania (Transylvania), and a bit of Italy (Alps). Austria was the leading economic power and enjoyed the strong support of not only smaller countries like Greece, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, but it also shared a loose alliance with Germany and even ties with Italy. This all changed with the outbreak of WWI which in the end, left Austria shattered and the mighty Austro-Hungry power divided into three main, but smaller empires. Austria, Yugoslavia, and Hungry with bits going to Italy, newly founded Czechoslovakia, and Romania. Having Germany in shambles, Austria's main trading partner, in debt and even more war-torn didn't help matters at all.

Communism had a brief flourish afterwards but was quelled when Germany annexed Austria, in 1938, contrary to the late Otto Von Bismarck's policy of keeping Austria out of the Greater German Reich . It used its newly gifted military to crush the communists, the hated foes of fascists, and keep them, along with other opposition parties, down well past 1945.

With the end of World War II Austria was once again a derelict hulk floating through the motions. Forced to sign a Treaty of Neutrality Austria quickly rebounded again with all kinds of dreams of a new world. Though the idealism wears off the memory lingered on, fueling the economy and productivity of the country as it slowly rebuilds itself. The tense Quintonnian-Soviet relations only marred the short period lasting ten years after 1945 a few times but thankfully Austria was not involved beyond its needed role of quaint, somewhat backward, second-tier European power.

Acting as a seller of Hungarian foodstuffs and a manufacturing center for Eastern Europe Austria chugged along amicably. As the years went on, Austria still remembered its years of strength with the Habsburg Monarchs directing land almost four times greater than current Austria. These feelings would slowly form into the entity: Prussian Sovereign Federation.

In the year leading up to the 2004 elections the Prussian Sovereign Federation, a party gaining momentum since 2000, lead under Anthony Drekcsler withdraws its vote for Drekcsler but instead places it on the new politician Maxen von Bismark and his party the Free Market Society. While not much is known about Maxen he is obviously a competent capitalist, a new breed of politician, player, and CEO. The two parties later form a governing board for both the parties under the title of The Prussian Political Entity.

The 2004 elections where something of a fluke, at least to the people that didn't understand the Austria person or his beliefs. In those elections the Prussia Political Entity swept into the Chancellery and Parliament like children to candy, getting a majority of the seats for their coalition and enters the record books for being one of the first Austrian parties that don't have to then make a broader coalition government.

As nationalistic feelings continue to rise inside the Prussian Entity and Austria as a whole Maxen marches into the Holy League Congress to appease some of the dissenters and to gain political capital to move forward his appointment of High Justices.

Few truly know what happened there but it seems the Chancellor was a little lax in definite answers, as nothing was ever firmly accomplished there. What was cemented then was the aspiration of Austria's southern neighbor, Yugoslavia, to keep the Balkans neutral and Holy League free.

With little, if any warning, the Yugoslavians attacked on June 26th, launching massive infantry columns into Austria. While the smaller Austrian force managed to stave off the incursions towards Innsbruck and Klagenfurt, they desperately hoped for the deliverance, long sought and assured, that the Holy League promised.

As historians will no doubt come to realize is that Russia, France, and maybe even Spain had no real plan for Yugoslavian aggression. Spain was on the ball quickest but for an unexplainable reason the countries stopped, froze even. It seemed as the Holy League countries had pursued so many options to quickly and where now leaving Austria out to dry.

Faced with overwhelming numbers, adequate equipment, and excellent preparation, Austria was slowly buckling under the pressure. In desperation Trugen, commanding down south a small force around Klagenfurt charges straight at the Yugoslavian horde and almost succeeds in pushing the Slavs back over the Danube (Dan-u).

It would be of no use in the end. As another army climbed out of the black hole of Yugoslavia to smite down and surround the eager Trugen, a force under Crown Prince is sent to try and cut this massive infantry’s stomach out by cutting the supply lines.

Before Crown Prince could fall apoun the Slavic horde and before Trugen could make the final push a cease fire was brokered. Of sorts, no one quite knows why the Slavic’s pulled out, because Austria had pulled out of the League some say, but we will never really know. Other countries diplomats sent diplomats but all they had was a fun ride being chauffeured across Yugoslavia so nothing there. Who knows? I’m happy enough it happened.

Regardless the damage was already done, Silvarian Marks were looted far beyond the Treasury Ministry's ability to pay if they all came back to be paid in silver. To make matters worse it seemed a pro-African league had set itself up, and was seemed to be disrupting silver loads from South Africa. So now little silver and many Marks caused a panic, of sorts. Which required Maxen to assure investors and holders that enough silver was there, and so no one needed to start rushing Austrian banks.

As The War of Holy Aggression, so termed by myself, heats up Austrian takes to the sidelines again and meddles a little bit everywhere in Africa. From Cameroon and Sao Tome to Nigeria Maxen is everywhere. Being the best behind the scenes player. While that is all good, a increasingly violent internal revolt takes a sinister turn.

A minor accountant at Austria's IRS sees some discrepancies in some tax returns by the First Reich party. While a minor party, not even a whole percentage point in the elections, he makes sure to give the information up to his superiors so they can do the usual business of investigation.

A couple days later several First Reich men are arrested for money laundering along with several higher Prussian Sovereign Federation members. The case then completely escalates, the men squeal and swear that Drekcsler himself was paying them to hinder the personal efforts of Maxen's companies and policies from any means necessary short of killing. While unsure of the full implications a report is given to Maxen who knows exactly how the pieces fit together.

Enraged he embarks on a war to uncover the truth, using his Special Directive Units (on almost continual loan from his former role of State Treasure) he finds that the evidence is overwhelming. The ideals that should propel Austria into the new feature is being systematically corrupted by money, degrading morally, and is planning to get rid of him. Drekcsler, realizing Maxen has uncovered him uses his party guards to arrest Maxen, form an entirely new party, and seize the reins of the government,

Drekcsler succeeds, and then embarks on his vision of Austria. Which includes a authoritarian government, militaristic, and a true empire spanning continents. He mobilizes and strengthens the army, and then promptly invades Mauritania. He lays groundwork for the invasion of the Czech Republic, and is only partly dissuaded by the French into leaving Mauritania for the Spanish, and because a re-invigorated Yugoslavia is now looking edgily over the border in preparation for a new Balkan War.

Nice job, Moorington. By the way, I think your summit got held up because the guy who owns the Sudetenland (Yugoslavia/Lavrageria) doesn't use the invision forums. I'll TG him 'bout it.

It/Aidarov is trying to get hold of Albania, Hungary, and Bulgaria too, without success as yet, but has no immediate ambitions on the Czech Republic or anything like that.

Really? Are we on the same page? The Sudentland is a secton of Crezch Rep. that borders Austria and Germany. If so can you give me a summary of how it changed hands.

You may consider Neo-Anarchos a very cold(although not hostile) AMW nation. As convinced anarchists, they do not appreciate any government as authoritarian as yours.

Tsar Wingert sends a missive to the Austrian leader congratulating him on his leadership and saying that his government is in full support of Bismark's intentions to re-establish Austrian power once more. He points to a long history of cooperation between the Russian and Austrian empires, and hopes that this will continue. The Estenlandain diplomats also declare that it is wonderful to see a leader in that nation of such good breeding, pionting to Bismark's noble roots.
On the sly, comments are made that with the proper trade incentives, the Tsar could be convinced into supporting Austrian action into the Sudetenland.

The Austrian Goverment would be happy to discuss mutally benifical options with The Federal Republic of Germany.

Now not to many people realy care about our little bit of Africa but obviously our Chancellor does. In his speech today - see bottom of article for exerpt and news thread for ful speech - he has increased the troop presence double. While most people would think this cruel, I highly doubt anything inhuman will come out of this. Only a little boost to the lagging economy and maybe a rise in some undersiable buisness ventures and increase in birth rates. Nothing I would consider horriably wrong......

......boosting of Austrian forces on the Mauritas from 2,000 personnel up to 5,000 which includes 20 Leopard's from Spain, 40 of the older 80 and 100 milimeter models of the Dpkz (240 men), a shipment of ultra-heavy 250 millimeter shore cannons (5) and people to man them (50 men) and 2400 "newbies" fresh from the recruitment offices. 10 men are on leave and/or unable to travel.

One of the new comapnies to be recently traded and posted on the FIA (Federacy Index of Austria) is Giat Industries, we have done a little run by for you to learn more about Austria latest addition.

Giat Industries, founded in 1973 by combining several bits and pieaces of the French Ministry Of Defense it was first called Groupement des Industries de l'Armée de Terre (Army's Industries Group) but has been recently changed to Giat industries in 1990. Giat Industries has worked on several big projects including Germany's Leopard 2A4, FAMAS assault rifle, FRF2 sniper rifle, Leclerc main battle tank, VAB armoured personnel carrier, 20mm modèle F2 gun, APILAS anti-tank grenade launcher, and the LG1 Mark II 105 mm towed howitzer. So you can see they are a hard working comapny on the crest of technology and always moving forward, with a market capitlization of 700 million Silvarian Marks and a profit of 10 million Silvarian Marks which is a huge increase of its constant declines of the previous decade.

The Austria government is ordering another shipment from The Gizatte Comapany a order of batches for the Ulan, which has recently been assigned co-producer with Austrian Motor Works. They 10 batches will have 500 Ulans each and will incorporate the basic orignal model with only slight changes including increased thermal, night, and zooming options for the gunner.

Fokker Aeroplanbau is given orders o find an aircraft, any, and to try and run it by a panel of judges. Positive signals of willing to buy a lot of them is also given.

The CEO of Stille Incorporated, Gruffin ber Fuhr, is leaving the company today to continue his philanthropist organization Money For The Mauritas, a non-profit organization devoted to helping the Mauritas, an Austrian colony a few miles from Madagascar in Africa. Him and several refitted cargo transportation Boeing 747s (20) are now transporting an un-realeased amount of cargoe to the Austrian colony with the Ignovian Soviet cut off of supplies to the islands.

Today, the Austrian governmnt has sent a diplomatic party requesting -for a un discloused amount of money- the Europack Diesal Engine from Germany and the patent rights. In the hope that Austria also would be able to mass produce the widely successful engine.

Rumours of Australiasian need for a better engine for a new tank model and looking to the Austrian governement as a proxy move is retarded and should be considered libel.

In light of Austria's decision not to join the Holy League (one which is lauded in Raleigh as 'forward thinking', 'humane' and a bunch of other stuff), the government of Australasia is curious as to the possibility of acquiring Europack tank engines. Australasia is prepared to pay reasonable sums for said engine, and open other, less formal trade ties to Austria.

It is seen to be in the interests of Australasia to have friends on the continent. While being an ally of Yugoslavia and Austria at the same time may seem a bit backhanded to both parties, it is the opinion of the Australasian government that a mutually agreeable settlement can be reached in the conflict, and that the further loss of lives is not necessary.

For an undisclosed amount of money, help with catching some bad guys, and generally employing the pity card the Austrian government has happily announced that The Federal Republic Of Germany has bestowed upon Austria the Europack engine.

As you all the know the Europack was designed by a committee of European Union nations -and Quintonnia- but the before hand conservative Austrian government never went farther than saying "good deal" and happily went about her business. The main reasons for it was to provide a standard MBT engine for mainly new editions for Britain, France, and Germany. Britain has been, in my opinion, the one to use it the most and with Germany following behind. France, will a contributer, has not been as eager to jump aboard as the other two nations. Quintonnia on the other hand has only made moderate tests with their reknowed MI Abram....... [END QUOTE]

After aquiring the Europack engines the Austrian government would like a deal with the Australasia, for exchange of raw materials (especially iron ore, sugercane and natural gas) The Federacy Of Greater Austria would happily supply the even beneficial Republic with 1,000 Auropack engines within 2 weeks (ummm, two hours from now), and increasing from there 1,000 each week to a combined limit of 5,000 a week. Hopefully can make a proper delivery of raw materials in which you think the value of both is equal.

In other news the Federacy Of Greater Austria has commenced to make an order for 1,000 more Dpkz II's, which are the latest production of a split Gizatte/AMW venture designed to propell the Austrian military to be on par with some of it's more militeristic nations.

The new Dpkz will have a 120mm gun (The Leopard 2E has a 155), 15 megajoules of power in the gun, a range of 700 kilometers, 6.35 meters long, a crew of 4, 45 metric tons, 3 meters wide, 3 meters tall, a coaxil 7.62mm machine gun, 1 7.62 anti-aircraft machine gun, a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, an AMW Kz 782 duo-fuel (ethanol and gasoline) which is a 1400 hp engine*, AMW P-2 455 transmission, with thermal, nightvision, xoom capibilities for the gunnery and comandeer sites with a rangefinder made for the gunnery.

Ammunition is made for this tank by The Gizatte Company, actually LKE ammunition they also make ammo for the Leopards (2E and 2A4).

*Latter batches may yet include the new Europack

OOC: Sorry, forum's being slow. I didn't see your response until now (obviously, I guess).

IC:
Darwin Ironworks, producer of the AV-34 Victoria, has begun acquiring shipments of the Europack, including them in the AV-34A2 model now being produced. It is undergoing trials, and has proven to be faster and more reliable than the larger McMahon engine.

In return, Australasia has agreed to the trade deal, and shipments of sugar cane, iron ore and natural gas began with the signing of a proposed nonaggression pact. While Quinntonia and Yugoslavia have not signed on as yet, Austria's willingness to do so has its government in Raleigh's 'good books'. Shipments of these goods will increase at the rate of incoming engines.

These goods are transported via smaller cargo ships for the time being, but when Buenos Aires recovers from the attacks larger cargo vessels (which only that port can support adequately) will take precedent. It is advertised that the merchant marine ships are guarded by Quinntonian naval forces, and French and Spanish fleets would do well to leave them be as they pass the Rock.

With the (expletive) done Austria now looks out happier, knowing Beth Gellert (Ignovians) are looking somewhere else and Australasians friendly the Seychelles are... er- a beatiful torusist resort.

No not really, Tranysn- er never mind.

Good to know, sadly none of the Europacks will be used until later on models of the Leopards -patent rights- and the Dpkz (II) becaue the Austrian governent the extra horsepower will be wasted for just to increase weight and reduce range and speed. Any new weapons and systems which would fully use the horsepower would force the Dpkz to a role the Leopard will happily fil and better.

Today the order of 15 new Eurofighters for abroad in Sao Tome are ordered. Swizterland is looked for more while extra Eurofighters are bought off of Sweden to total the forces of Austria's airforce to 65. With many corporate heads getting itchy about their inablility to produce them Austria assures them that this will be one of the last Eurofighter expansions bt will now look to more transportation airborne vehicles which Foker Aeroplabau has well under control.

The Austrian government today realeased the first versions of coin, fractions of the SM include the Mauritin (5/100), Tome (10/100), Iditorad (25/100), and the Danu (50/100). Suprisingly now coin dollars are avaliable and are not slated until next year at the best.

Austria is also looking for increased silver deposits since so much silver reserves were looted along with Silvarian Marks which were not expected to ever enter the market beyond needs for replacement. To tell what kind of Silvarian Marks were taken in the Yugoslavian withdrawal would be hard to do, so the government is now stocking up on silver as if all the current SM outside their control wll be returned for cash. To stop this kind of nonsense from here on added security measures are being taken to be able to tell tem apart.

With the summer reccess coming soon the Federacy's Supreme Court has finally reached a verdict on two major cases concerning what corporations are going to do in people's lives.

Case 1:
Jerry Schmitt vs. Gizatte Company

Jerry Schmitt:
In this Jerry Schmitt has sued Gizatte Company for patent infringement on several kpl (kilometer per liter) increasers for vehicles. He says that his private company were making hse add ons well before Gizatte and they made them only after trying to buy the company and patents from him. Obvious monopoly tatics he says.

Gizatte:
Gizatte meanwhile maintains that he was being stubborn and they had the idea beforehand and just wanted to make sure there was no question about patent rights. They also say he shoudl lose the patent rights because he kept the production minimilized, on purpose while Schmitt says because lack of capital. This they say is monopolization just as bad if they were a major corporation and "almost a criminial offense" for keeping the product secluded from the public.

Ruling:
The court ruled in favor of Jerry Schmitt, saying that the Jerry Schmitt didn't have enough capital to make an major expansions but could, and would, have if given enough time since they pointed out, the spirit of Jerry Schmitt was what kept Austria going. That of course shot both the boat of that Schmitt would keep the production minimilized and being stubborn was a bad thing. They continued that line and finished with an essay on how little companies should not expect any better treatment than being allowed to exist but should at least be able to move into the market without expecting to fail.

Case 2:
Alfred Lichtoven vs. Stille Incorporated

Lichtoven:
Alfred was arrested for several hackings of bank accounts of various major finacial institutions. He says that most of the crucial evidence be thrown out and a 1,000,000 SM suet should be filled because most of it was found out by Stille Incorporated letting several SpyWares on from the Federal government to hide in his Ghana, web browser, and keyboard which got valuable infomation or lead to damning evidence.

Stille:
Stille Incorporated's main statement is based around that this would never have happened if he had stayed law abiding and Stille can do whatever it wants with it's products, since no one individual can dictate to a corporation what to do.

Ruling:
The iSupreme Court ruled in favor of Stille saying that, "No person can validate any claims made against Stille for the sole reason of following the Federal government while the person dictating the charges is not". A short speech was also made laying out rough groundpoints in which said that no one person can dictate what another can do with his own product (i.e. possesions).

It is rumoured that dozens of companies have requested Beijing to look into forming free-trade agreements into friendly European nations as a backdoor entrance into the Holy League market, now cut off from direct exports due to the embargo. So far Beijing has refused to budge on this issue.

Over the next week, two separate delegations will be arriving in Wien. One is headed by Wing Lee of the foreign affairs department to discuss recent political issues.

The second delegation will be headed by Peter Lee, head of the Business association and representing several dozen Chinese companies keen to export and import.

Austria will gladly get any chance it can get for an (reasonable) exchange of goods between Europe and the Far-East, actually many Austrian investors are suprised Chnia has done such an about face. The faint whisper that China was actually a little hostile in the Austrio-Slavic war was actually because of The Holy League, unease spreads about The Holy League but to have China as a trading partner many companies are lining up to be included as the first dibs, including Rearden Materials and Gizatte Company.

Peter Lee arrives first, three days ahead of the government officials. Being a business trip, looks and first impressions were important, and Lee takes the extravagant step of organising his Lexus to be couriered in his private jumbo jet.

The whole thing was actually a bit of a spectacle - Lee's entourge numbered well over a hundred men and women, each representing a few companies, all of them dressed in the finest handcrafted clothing money could buy. Most vehicle companies in Austria would have experienced a complete sellout of their 1st class vehicles - all the Mercedes, Bentleys, and even the Peugeots, despite the fact they were made in France.

The designer clothes, flash cars, and flash jewelry made a bold statement - China's businessmen were rich.

Even still, the Austrians still liked the obvious nod toward the German engineered cars and at least could say to any dissenters "Well at least they're not riding Toyota's."

So, dutiful as ever, Maxen von Bismarck calls up the fancy as can be hotel where the Chinese were shown to and a meeting is to be hopefully executed in two days time in which Maxen hopes to give and get.

[QUOTE=The Independent]
In a recent press release by Austria's Rhiechswehr Press Man the Austrian Military has layed out plans in conjuction with the civilian government to outlay the general plans for Austria in the coming decade. While remarkably short on details they hope to slowly unveil their plans as the last bit and pieces finally are smoothed and put into place.

The Rheichswehr's new plan revolves around the newly made and hopefully to be improved on Ulan. In their brief chat with reporters it seems that their new overall plan revolves around the concept of fast and brief points of massive power. No infantry will walk, no troops will be left behind, and everything will be mechaniz(s)ed, with a lot of the power and force going to be in armour and helicopter strikes.

The airforce will be fittted with more planes, bases, and new missions including getting and stablizing air routes to the Mauritius and other pro-Austria countries. That will be the biggest addition with a second follwoing close behind; the second would be to decapitate enemy leaders from day one, to strike hard and fast, since obvious conjuction with the SDU (Special Directive Unit) the SDU chairmembership will include three air force service (wo)men.

The overall strategy also is adjusted, offensive actions will only be limited to easy to define industrial and political targets, no more massive boming caimpaigns of industrial heartlands, just surgical strikes towards the more fragile and unstable parts of their economy.

Government policy will now be part of the ideal "uberpower". In it Austria hopes to get and make alliances, economic deals, military pacts, and general tightining of relations (with capitalist countries of course). This will hopefully result in Austria to be a well loved country which many would enjoy its benevolent attitude and thus involve the relativly small state into their grander plans, thus pulling Austria along so that it can increase its dominace far beyond it's proportion.

I would like to discuss the finer points of import and export into Europe via Austria. We know your country has one of the best run economies in Europe, so naturally we are interested in Austria as an entre-port for goods into Germany, the non-aligned nations, and even the Holy League nations.

I have heard from the recent reports of several independent watch dog groups and find their reports staggering, it seems that Walmington and Australasia are both having a field day with destroying and capturing any god from a slew of countries. National Defense:

Austria has recently bought 250 Eurocpoters, configured alike to the German model it is being named Tegetthoff Class. After the famed Austria-Hungary dreadnought class battleships. This deal plans to improve both the stake Eurocopter Group has in the European Market but will also propel Austria into its new tactics of a fluid battlefront with quick strikes into opponenets territory.

Speculation:

With The Holy War commencing in Africa and in the seas of Europe is begs to speculate on what Austria is going to do. It has significant concerns in the Mauritius and while it may not continue to carve up the African island nations like its going out of style; Yugoslavian War, it still can support other forces. While it will only help the HL to have someone else (anyone for starters) at their back the Eurofighters in Sao Tome and Principe with the ones from Mauritania and Mauritius will help anybody in the long run.

Hong Kong and Trieste:

After the Yugoslavian War no more territories could be had; yet it was always good to shop around and see if some minor technical glitches or typos could be used to improve the idea Federated Islands of Austria; by getting more "meat" into the name. Yet Seychelles is out of reach, African Coalition forces will die to the last and that is the one thing Austria needs. Dead Africans for their TV and worse yet causualties for their mothers and fathers to get angry over. Reunioun is out, Roycelandia hates the idea of selling a piece of its empire only second o hving it taken by force. So no go there. So Austria has looked closer to its land, especially ex-German Austria land, and found the gem of Trieste. With such a good result Austria should and is on the look out for good port citites of capitalist and good economic standpoint.

Remind you of anyplace? If not, its okay, Hong Kong is very far away and many would want to know how Austria would even try and manage control of such a place. It will proabably be administered like a Dual-Monarchy; the idea is a good one and with recent Chinese-Austria relations the option of having a good hand in the Asian economy would be a chance no self-deserving capitalist would give up.

Changes of Interest, Capital, and Ideals:
Article Found In: The Independent, Finance B1 and B4

Austrian corporations, even subtracting my bias for them, have been some of the best and most productive companies in Europe. They have no transformed, that is too much of a strong word, more like gave Europe a wake up all to what a real business does. It seems, it has finally thrown in the rag.

Gizatte, and Rearden Materials' latest investor meetings have brought an interesting variable to the forefront. Niger. While more of a hot topic than let us say Cameroon or Mauritius. Niger has a bigger foundation and population to which base new investments off of.

Ask any regional manager from Stille Incorporated, Gizatte, AMW, or Rearden and you will get the same two answers when you ask the two questions: "What is the drawback of Mauritius, Cameroon?"

It will always be population, and then infrastructure. Mauritius have been mostly tapped out. Its modest land mass and population mean the only increase in productivity will come more from increasing workers personal productivity than by building more factories or better roads.

Cameroon, on the other hand, is almost the opposite. Where it has too many people, it does not have enough of anything. Almost single-handily, Stille Incorporated had to supply its regional headquarters with electricity, water, and sewage treatment. Having to manufacture all of the power lines and pipes, install them, and re-furbish the power plant, water treatment, and water pump stations.

Niger, has more of both. It also already has a more forward thinking populace, already associated with the Tsar Wingert and his Czarist Russia. Few others have attacked communism on that scale.

Shifting back the focus to European affairs. In 2004, Germany's anti-trust commission sent three individual 100-page reports to Gizatte, Fokker Aeroplanbau, and AMW on their "monopoly" tactics. The three banded their anti-anti-trust committee and promptly sent back a 600-page report to the German government explaining themselves and declaring that the board was being un-fair by trying to protect BWW and Airbus. The situation has deteriorated since and it seems the corporations are giving the German government, and the branches in Britain a good swift kick and leaving.

With trade links between China and South America projected to grow strongly in the next decade, the new port will handle significant trade. While Hong Kong has in recent times being eclipsed by the more accessible and cheaper Shenzhen, it is still regarded as prime property and excellent commerical land. However, the economic invincibility that the island experienced a decade ago has long gone.

Peter Lee informs Wein that much of the port space in Hong Kong is privately owned by such corporations as Cosco and Hutchison Whampoa and private investors are more than welcome to make offers to purchase port management rights and commercial space. Failing this, there are always a number of land reclaimation projects which as usual, are earning a good yield.

As for actual administration of the island, Lee explains that it would be impossible to achieve given the backlash it would inevitably cause. Of course, this didn't mean there weren't other ways around the problem. If what Austria really wanted was to station military forces in the region (if Peter Lee was reading Austrian newspapers correctly, that is, between the lines), then Beijing would likely be very warm to such a proposal

Austria would indeed like to post troops on some Chinese soil; of course, a sizeable yield would accrue from any agreement between the two venerable states of Austria and China. Drekcsler, in an attempt to shore up support in corporate boardrooms is looking towards establishing a lucrative trading city on Chinese soil, something along to an Austrian controlled Hong Kong.

This would make sure that Austrian corporations would not have a even market with competitors, if anything, it would be in their advantage. While the Austrian government does not reply to messages about if any action would be taken by the government in Austrian Kong but the idea would give Drekcsler a much needed bargaining chip.

Therefore, Austria asks, may it have some land, no more than five square miles initially, of Chinese land to be leased and renewed every 5 years. The first 5 years will have a yearly lease, no penalties for backing out, of 10000 Silvarian Marks or something approaching 100000USD.

Anytime! If China is just looking at this thread, please look above at my edited statement.

At Ballhausplatz today Herr Drekcsler made a speech, one that moved and inspired. He declared that someone who has lost the light of logic and sanity ruled the Czech Republic. Touching even the most sadistic people's heart and mind. His speech is an example of how we need to be like in this period of uncertainty and trouble. Stand strong against the Czechs, those invaders look to install a puppet government, to serve their own needs. Which, I assure you, do not mimic Austria's.

With Hong Kong taking the lead in IPO's over New York City, it begs to wonder how far Austria is behind. Do not worry, we are not far behind. While some fundamental problems including strict labor laws prevent independent businesses from getting out the mud, Drekcsler has promised to adopt reforms that would ease the employers duty to the employee and to make it easier to hire and fire workers.

Those changes have already been felt in the growing ammunition manufacturing industry. It was previously a selection of poor, government-subsidized industries. Now, with easier union and financial laws, it has become fully independent of government subsidizes. One of the more lucrative companies would be Schmidt Foundry, owned by the Messerschmidt Trust.

The Hellenic Republic would like to ask the Austrian government if they would have any interest in business ventures in Greece, as our nation has recently been opened to capitalism.
Austria is always looking to invest in electronics, automobiles, and digital start-ups. The only minor issue is the prospect of strict, or at least not as loose as Austria's, which could interfere with certain corporation's business branches.

Of course Austrian investment will flow regardless, it just depends on how much.

China's investments in Austria had taken a pummeling as off late - Exports were delayed by the canal flashpoint while private investors had been dumping Austrian shares since Maxen's fall. This had caused a general cooling off in political relations as well.

However, the government was still determined to talk business, Austria's recent troubles on the military front had provided both sides a spot of opportunity to make a deal.

Mauritius. The island was the target of a Soviet war fleet and with no way to reinforce it, it would likely fall.

Wein was presented with a proposal by the cunning Vice President Chang - turn Mauritius over to Beijing and we will ensure that you get a much better deal out of it including continued military access to the island than letting it get overrun by the ISC. We'll throw in a lease agreement for a small trading colony in China and perhaps even place pressure on Quintonnia and Yugoslavia to give you a generous "exit strategy" for your failing war.

The offer would lapse in a fortnight, Dresckler would have to be quick.

(Well I was sure not quick, sorry!)

Realistically, events have already made the Mauritius hard to oversee, much less gamble away. Even though technically the Mauritius is still part of Austria, Drekcsler has not received word from it, officially that is, so he maintains the facade of technical problems. He does not want to go around admitting anything quite yet.

Drekcsler is willing to give the 'technical problems' and the whole Mauritius to Chinese control, and all the problems included forthwith. In exchange, a small trading colony in China would make the offer very balanced and get the approval of the Reichstag and the populace.
