I was born in the year 1534, to my father Oda Nobuhide, in the castle of Shobata, a third son, yet the heir to my father since I was his first son not born to a concubine. In my youth I was considered foolish and undisciplined, it was not until my fathers death that I then decided on my path to Eternity. I had a dream, one that few others had or will ever.

I wanted to unite our war torn country; I wanted to unite the daimyos of Japan, and rule as Sie ti Shogun. To see my banners fly over the heights of Kyoto, and to see my words become law.

This was my dream...and now, I have finally completed it. The long-nosed devils who call themselves jesuits gave me the key to unlocking my dream: a thing which even though it shames the way of Bushido, is a useful weapon, the 'gun'. I took this new weapon and made more and trained my retainers in its use. And because of this new weapon, I have defeated my greatest rival, Takeda. Oh how the blood flowed on the fields of Nagashino. I pittied the samurai of Katsuyori, the foolish son of my great enemy Shigen. But only in that their great sacrifice and honor has made the path to my total victory. I must remember to build a shine in their honor.

I rule now over all of central Japan. The major clans: the Mori to the south are my allies, the Hojo to the north have treaties with me and Uesegi to the north west are now weak.

I have brought the Tokugawa clan under the loyalty of my banner, my dear friend Ieyasu one of my greatest generals. With him we each saw the destruction of the Imagawa, Asai, Ikko-Ikki, and the damned Asakura. Each who now serve me. For I am Oda Nobunaga the Great Uniter.

OOC: I am a medieval tech player, and am role playing as the Lord Oda Nobunaga, if you want to know more go to wikipedia to find out. He was historically assasinated by one of his generals in 1581, but I have decided to make a Japan where he lived and survived.

My army and other economical and political details are soon to come.

As the leader of the Oda clan, Nobunaga has complete control over all Oda lands. And from these lands he recruits an army by which he has conquered all. His army is made of a loyal core of 50,000 samurai, and over 100,000 ashigaru (common soldiers).

Formations of Units
The army has no real official units, but when the army is mobilized the Ashigaru were formed into companies of between 200-500 men. 200 for the arquebuses, 500 for spearmen. The samurai themselves are usually the calvary, in groups between 300-600 men. When they are acting as foot archers, they form into groups of 800 men.

When they form into different armies each General is given a small staff of hatamoto (special retainers) and a certain number of troops.

Conscription
While each man between the ages of 16-50 is capable of being called to arms, the Oda army keeps a constant forces of 80,000 men, stationed all over the Oda lands. However, at any time, Nobunaga is capable of calling some 300,000+ men to arms.

That's really cool. Nice original idea and very nice backdrop. However, good luck finding medieval people to RP with. Maybe an RP sometime between us would be interesting - eg one of your people visiting our country and seeing a 2015 nation...

OOC: Like a crazy 'time-warp' thing or other. The ideas been there. If you get the chance, look into the movie 'GI Samurai' which deals with a Japanese modern army compnay somehow being sent back to medieval Japan. Its old, (late 80s early 90s production I believe) but its still good.

The main castle, and seat of Nobunaga's power is Nagoya Castle. In the province of Owari, next to the sea. The castle itself was first built by Nobunaga's father, then after his death the young Oda leader built it to even more impressive strengths.

The castle itself sits on a not-to-high platue of rock, with only one natural ramp leading to the summit. The City of Nagai which surrounds the platue and runs down to the sea and the area around it holds more than 1,000,000 souls. Because of his love of order, Nobunaga had the city built in system of blocks, its streets relatively easy to navigate. He also took the time to section of different parts of it for his craftsmen, some of his most treasured retainers since they supply him with his weapons; over 300 craftsmen word day after day perfecting their arts for the Lord Nobunaga.

Then there is the street of Weavers, the street of Fish, and others named after what they have within. In the far reaches of the city, fenced off and taxed by Nobunaga's men, is the Willow World, or the City of Pleasure, where women and men may enjoy a night of pleasure between heaven and earth.

The entire city was of Nobunaga's clever design, and no more clever than his own ambition in his castle making. Simply because he wished it, he had a moat dug and cut from the very rock of the platue around his castle walls. And within the castle, around his Keep, is a second moat.

The castle itself is capable of holding 30,000 samurai, 1,000 horses, and some 400 castle servants and attendents.

It is within the Keep that Nobunaga holds his court. Some 200 Hatamoto, 50 Advisors, and 3 Imperial Courtiers make up the bulk of Nobunaga's court. There are also samurai represenatives from other factions and clans, such as the Hojo, Mori, and Uesugi.

From his court Nobunaga handles the affairs of over 9,000,000 citizens of Oda lands, 500,000 Oda samurai, and collects taxes from over 20 provinces. His hatamoto, who rule over his land on his behalf provide the Lord Nobunaga with an annual income of over 5,000,000 Koku. (A koku is a measure ment of rice, consisting of the amount of rice it takes to feed one man for a year)

Along with rice, he also garners gold and silver from the mines in the north, which give him the wealth to buy the gun powder he needs for his guns from the Portugese.

OOC: Nice pics, and a pretty darn good attempt at using 'Paint' to make your castle. I myself am thinking of experimenting with medieval-past tech...hmm. Maybe we'll meet on a distant battlefield one day. Who know?! Anyway, nice job, well done.

OOC:I have so long wanted to see someone do a PT and MT RP... one that involves a war of course.

OOC: Maybe you will get your chance, some other players and I were discussing a possible rp. I am currently unsure as to whether it will happen.

Its old, (late 80s early 90s production I believe) but its still good.It's not the same era, but the movie The Final Countdown is based on a premise where the USS Nimitz gets thrust back in time to World War II when the U.S. was at war against Japan. I seem to remember the commander of the Nimitz trying to contact the base and having people react as if he'd lost his mind because he introduced the ship as the USS Nimitz and Nimitz was still in active service in the USN.

I'll keep your proposal for a RP in mind even though I'm MT.
