(OOC-this is a PMT-FT future for my current EII era nation, but before any [as yet non existent] FT nation of mine, if that makes any sense. They will end up as MT most likely, but FT explains how they got there)

The al-Khalifa, a Madras-class scout ship, with a crew of 120, were the first ones to find Manium. It seemed fairly habitable, and nations they had known back home (Earth II), like Carthage and Rome, ad colonies there. As the purpose of the mission was to begin colonization, they began approach. They found a suitable spot to land on a continent called "Cornedsa" by those already there. Setting down, they found the spot suitable for a town. Before they began construction, however, protocol dictated they needed a name. After a hour of debate, New Bahrain was chosen, and the building began.

The ship had 40 prefabricated houses in the cargo hold, and these were quickly assembled. Some moved into these, while others remained on the ship. That night, they held an assembly. In a nearly unanimous vote, they nominated Shiva Venkatesh, the captain, leader of the settlement. They also sent out a hail to the other Elephanti ships in the area. Seven ships similar to their own were in the area, and began converging on Manium.

(ooc-later posts will go into more detail)

Six months later

The colony was growing now. The eight ships all had separate communites, each maintaining a field of crops. The al-Khalifa crew, founders of the settlement, also were the nominal rulers of the group.

The ships that landed, and a brief overview, are shown below.

al-Khalifa-The first ship to land, the crew of the ship run the city, as well as maintaining cornfields. 120 landed, and they were the first ship to have a birth on Cordensa.

Current population (10/2/05): 118

Ibn Saud-Closest to Manium, the Ibn Saud was the next ship to land. A newer ship, it held 150, along with more stores. This ship was modified to carry fruit and vegetable plants, especially grapes, apples, onions, and tomatoes. However, their settlement borders the ocean, and they also catch shellfish.
