Manama, Bahrain

In recent times we have seen great improvements in space travel. Carthage has just established a new moon base, the terraforming of Venus is a year ahead of schedule, and society is reaping the benefits of learning about our universe. Many nations, including Elephantum, owe thier success to the International Space Program.

Before the program was created, Elephantum had yet to successfully launch a satellite into orbit. The group helped us launch our first manned missions, and brought us to the point we are at now, with two space stations orbiting Venus.

The ISP fell into stagnation over time, but we feel it should return. In the spirit of international cooperation and advancement, we officially sponsor this program.

We would like to get all nations who so desire to be able to launch unmanned craft within two years of joining, and manned missions within five. We would also like to encourage more cooperation between those nations with sucessful programs.

The C.I.S.A, which as you know has already begun to build bases on Luna, would be more than happy to join this International Space Program.

The Empire will officially boycott all areas of this accord and continue to operate on its space missions and moon missions by itself. Our shuttle transport systems and our rockets will not be shared nor will their assistance be granted. This boycott comes as a result of the Elephanti embargo upon the Empire.

The Empire has for a long time been preparing to send a manned mission to the Moon, with space stations, satellites and manned missions on a regular basis. As a result of our quest to plant the Cottish flag on the Moon, we have designed much new spacefaring equipment which we are not willing to share due to the technological and classified nature of the equipment, as much of it is deriatives from military equipment. If the equipment can be kept to ourselves, we wish to join this venture.

Union of Communist Republics is preparing to launch a saries of satelites to orbit the moon as well as a shuttle to get a representative of UCR on the moon. Our technology is advanced although most of it wasn't tested in outer space before. So we would like to participate in this venture.

Signed,

Communist Party Committee representative Oleg Popkov

Well, thats your flag. Anyway, where on the moon are your settlements? I would like to park mine a bit away, but not too far ( in case of mechanical difficulties or something... ).

The moon is peanuts, we aim for Mars and beyond!

However, we shall not join this collection of nations. Instead we will of course publish any interesting discoveries through the normal reputable scientific journals.

Celt, you're going, out, we're going in. Currently our goal is to develop an unmanned spacecraft that can land on Venus and make it back with air and soil samples. Our first test was destroyed by weather, and the second could not overcome gravity and was destroyed. By the time Venus is terraformed, all these failed vehicles will leave it covered in craters (not to mention the big one the time I nuked it :D )

If nobody minds i'll design a nuclear reactor to power that baby. How about that?

What i am thinking is that we place an automated spacestation near a planet we want to explore and then it can have several data collection units that it can send to do field work. Anyways, we will need a nuclear reactor, also about weather, i think i got something for you. Plasma sheild research was originally created to reduce drag for the aircraft but then it was discovered that it can also make an aircraft invisible to radar. Maybe you can work that first part.

Bjornoya will begin genetically engineering earthworms and primitive plants capable of surviving in low atmospheric, low pressure conditions as to help create atmosphere on planets capable of supporting one.

Near Shackleton Crater, near the South Pole.

The Far Side (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_colonization#Far_side) of the moon is a bit hard to colonize, but it has the largest deposits of Ilmenite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilmenite). If you could overcome the difficulties of not being able to communicate directly with Earth (which could be overcome by transmiting to a relay-station that could reach the Earth) and the homesickness from never being able to see the Earth, that could be a profitable place to create a base.

Cottish Lunar Colonization

Phase (1): The landing of Cots on the surface of the Moon, and returning them safely to Earth.

Phase (2): The establishment of a permanent settlement/base on the Moon.

To achieve this, the construction of a large spacecraft to carry the lunar lander to the moon safely will be required. The spacecraft, codenamed "Venture Star", will feature the capability of carrying 12 people, two landers, equipment and construction modules. It will also be fitted with large enough fuel tanks for a voyage to the Moon and back, as well as manouvering a bit.

"Venture Star" - artists impression

For the first phase to occur, the following will take place. A "Venture Star" will carry a lunar landing module (LLM) and its crew of four to the Moon. They will land at a spot that is to be announced, and conduct various experiments for the duration of that first mission, which will also help determine where the settlement for Phase two will be located. The duration of the first mission is expected to take ten days, with three of them on the moon itself.

Phase two is to take place ten to twenty months after the successful first landing on the surface of the Moon, and will feature among others a partially buried habitat for a total of twenty people (with the option of increasing it), a nuclear reactor and several large solar panels to provide power, a communications array, scientific equipment and Lunar Rovers (LR).

The expected costs for the first mission are around $ 3 Billion, and with a projected cost for the entire project in the $ 80 Billion area. This is however subject for change.

The Armed Repuplic of Strobovia would be very pleased to join your program, and share our highly developed technology with you.

Our space station orbiting earth, will serve as a launchpad for our deepspace shuttles.

Furthermore we shall be delighted to fund the first 3 billion dollars.

I teach you the superlichen (http://gregrob.ca/640x480/lichen.jpg) , lichen is something to be surpassed!

(disappointing huh?)

Bjornoya offers this scenario:
An air-tight dome maybe .1km radius be set up on the moon. The dome could be filled partially with earth-like atmosphere. The dome is then inhabited by this lichen, along with our proposed earthworms that would change the composition of the moon or planet's soil and air. Given enough time, a healthy atmosphere may develop around the entire planet, or for the moon we would have a re-usable supply of oxygen through plant photo-synthesis.

Bjornoyan Based Visara Co. Launches 3 Communication Satellites

With the recent aquisition of Equitorial Guinea and the Southern portion of Cameroon, Bjornoya has an ideal location to launch any object into orbit. With that in mind, Bjornoyan Federal Government allowed Visara Co. to launch 3 new communication satellites into orbit.

These three satellites will be capable of sending communication signals and observing the 'dark side' of the moon. Through a simple relay system, information can be easily sent to the remote regions of the moon. Using elliptical orbits, one of the three satellites will always be able to observe the opposite side of the moon.

These three contribute to the 10 already owned by Visara Co. Within 5 years Visara Co. believes it will be able to single-handedly send a signal from any place on the earth or moon to any other location on the earth or moon.

The launch site, located in E. Guinea is being offered as a primary launch site for future launches. Its placement is very close to the equator, and this has already saved Visara Co. billions of dollars on the energy it saved as opposed to other potential launch sites..

The current goal of the Imperial Kreynoria Space Agency (IKSA) is to send unmanned probes to Europa, Titan, and Pluto, and to set up a new space telescope similar to the Hubble. We feel that joining the International Space Program will help us achieve these goals. Therefore, the Divine Empire wishes to apply for admission to the ISP.
