Just like it says, because I'm one of those kind of guys who has to keep everybody informed of exactly where I'm coming from, when, how, and why...

OOC comments shall go here.

Edit: also because its hard for me to shut up... :p

Right.

So what's keeping these giant cinder-blocks from crumbling?

How come something relatively weak like concrete isn't splintering and shattering against hulls that are designed to take a beating from super advanced weapons, and very solid shells made of metal?

I mean, it's concrete, not something that is really going to do much to anything, no maytter how big it is. The size of it just makes ot more suceptable to breakage because of the sheer physics of it, and the amount of surface area it has.

Godluar, if you read my post I didn't say it would go to little pieces. I said the bigger pieces would hit the ship though it won't be direct. Anything that loses it's point of rotation will fly off in a straight line. So that means both halves could go to God knows where. It's just physics man not GM

(gonna stop bolding my OOC)

OOC:Thing is, that entire cloud of debris is still moving at .3 C in your general direction. I suppose you could say its gone from a giant mass-driver shell and turned itself into a giant mass-driver flechette aimed in the general direction of your fleet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Me and Abh were discussing that very thing...

The Heighliner is reinforced of course, like all structures of that size, it still needs some amount of metallic stabilization. Not saying this would cause it to resist the stresses of traveling at that speed, but that it would be prevented from grinding itself into powder.

Also, in order to understand how it manages to resist the stresses of going that fast at that size, it is important to know how completion of a Probability Transit can be manipulated. As a result of utilizing Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, for the most part, the vessel in question is essentially transported wherever it needs to go. However, the probability drive enables the vessel to emerge from transit traveling in whatever direction it wishes at whatever speed it wishes without much in the way of acceleration involved.

As for how it can break through armor designed to take on 'super advanced weapons', I don't care how tough the armor is, you smack into an asteroid or vice versa, you're not walking away from that. Now imagine getting struck by an asteroid that, while smaller, is much harder and traveling much more quickly.

That's an asteroid... something compounded by many things... Asterioids have been compressed to certain sizes, they also have large ammounts of metals in them.

Yours is concrete. It's a mixture of relatively loose rock and sand.

Reinforced concrete, with metal rods inserted inside for stability. That's how they do skyscrapers, after all, otherwise the durn things would collapse under their own weight. The rods would make up for any otherwise crippling lack of 'hardness.' I'm basically saying right here that the Heighliner has about the same hardness.

And now that I think of it...

I mean, it's concrete, not something that is really going to do much to anything, no maytter how big it is. The size of it just makes ot more suceptable to breakage because of the sheer physics of it, and the amount of surface area it has.

The amusing thing about relativity is the following:

At any one point in time, you, me, and everything on Earth is moving at approximately 30km/s around the sun. At the same time, the sun is moving in an orbit around the center of the galaxy every 250,000 years (approx). The Milky Way itself is moving god knows how fast towards the Andromeda Galaxy (which is also moving god knows how fast towards us).

At this very moment, we are actually moving, relative to a static frame, at a decent fraction of the speed of light. Yet somehow, we are not being ripped apart by the sheer physics of it all.

I am not questioning the reinforced rods in you concrete. I basically figured they were there anyways just because I've been around construction and know how this stuff works.

What I am just trying to tell you is that my attacks were focused on the center of the tube to break it in half. It's like when you twirl something above your head and let go of the string, it goes straight from where you let go. It doesn't keep spinning around in the same place. I wasn't trying to completely destroy it so there are no clouds of debris or anything. It's just the two halves now. I have no problem that saying one half went off and buldozed a few Patrolships while the other half scraped against the SSD. The thing is that both of those pieces are not going to keep coming straigt at me.

How wide is the cut supposed to be?

Psst: My Guardships are about the same as yours maybe with weaker shields and only 400 m long.

Thanks for reminding me, I am a touch rusty about Abh, as I haven't seen Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars for about a year now. Though now I am tempted to re-watch them, even though I don't have the full series, unfortunately... :( (IIRC, I have only 3/4 of Crest of the Stars and 1/2 of Banner of the Stars)

We seriously doubt that, as we are quite proficient with organic vessel structures as much as inorganic. However, we shall not force you.

I’ll reply that after the Humankind Abh will post a reaction to my latest actions. Though depending on situation, I (i.e. Rear Admiral Rastell) may not have time to reply you.

The Godulans make it a point to be able to understand and duplicate as many separate technology trees as possible, and utilize specialized bio-tech systems to enhance their psionic strength.

The Godulans actually focus on Psionics instead of Force or Magic, and as such, had the battle lasted longer, there would have been a rather interesting struggle as the Azaha Tyranids fought mind against mind against the Godulan Savants.

Plus, they are not ignorant to the qualities of various organic materials such as Ironwood and the like, and can, in fact, construct a vessel out of hardened mushrooms if the need arose. Most of this information was provided by Baron Skye and the Triad, however, due to their exposure to a far broader range of enemy or friendly technologies.

I understand that, but Juraians' technologies and powers are pretty much unique in their home galaxy, that's why we didn't expect you to be able to repair our battleships. We will now consider taking advantage of your offer, though it is good only if we manage to get out of point blank combat with Abh Guardships.

By the way, while Juraians have combination of Future and Fantasy tech, our "ordinary" battleships have no magical/supernational components.

Yes, right now it looks like the Abh and Chronosian fleets are just waiting, hopefully. The Godulans intend to make the most of the interbellum.

Aside from Abh Guardships, you mean?

Well, now I gave Abh Patrolships their share of "from Jurai with love!" too!.. :D ...Though I'm afraid this will just bring them upon my fleet, as if those Guardships were not enough... *sigh* ...Well, hopefully, your fleets (lost count of how of them there are :D ) are about to handle Abh and Chronosians some severe punishment too.

I had fixed my post, and yet I get no response. Why?
