Fighters
SF-4 Drake - 120 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/missionbomb.jpg)
This is an interesting design, seen here with full afterburner during a training mission on Nonistan. It is the second successful attempt by Al-Imvad engineers to create a fighter/bomber that is also good in a dogfight. Like the Seagull, the Drake is a very maneuverable craft, with powerful weapons, the only reason it is not an RSD(it's numbered as if it were) series vehicle is that it is a single-seater. It is otherwise an excellent strike craft, carrying a heavy ordinance load and great shielding. It also has very long range and its own FTL drive, which go along with its sensors to make it a good recon craft. It is also very maneuverable both in space and in atmosphere, allowing it to go head-to-head against dedicated dogfighters.
Armament:
- 2 30mm guns
- 6 standard wing hardpoints
- 3 underbody hardpoints
- 2 wingtip AAM hardpoints
Cruciform Fighter II - 70 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/advancedcrux.jpg)
This is the new cruciform fighter, designed to operate all the same weapons and equipment as the original, only better. It has improved shields, new and better engines, and more powerful sensors. It is a cheap one-man fighter, and is designed to be widely fielded. Due mainly to the weight of its weapons, it is not very maneuverable, but after it has launched its ordinance, it can get out of danger very fast, and when outfitted with AAMs and gunpods is a passable dogfighter.
Armament:
- 1 30mm gun
- 4 heavy hardpoints
SF-12 Heron - 145 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Heron.jpg)
The Strike/Fighter 12 Heron is essentially a long-range strike craft. Its heavy weapon load out allows it to function admirably as a bomber, though it contains no internal bay. Powerful yet efficient engines allow high maneuverability and top in-atmosphere speeds. Like the old RSD series, it features a two-man crew and a FTL drive. It is not optimized for air-to-air combat like other fighters, but its heavy armor makes it a formidable foe. Not visible in the picture are its underbody stores and its AA-MPA.
SF-13 Petrel - 80 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/fighter.jpg)
This is the single seat air superiority fighter in the Al-Imvad arsenal, featuring high performance and powerful weapons. Its low cost is also a benefit, as it can be deployed in enough numbers to be effective against enemy fighter formations. It does not carry armor like the Heron, relying only on its shields for protection, but its maneuverability more than makes up for this, allowing it to even fly circles around unmanned drones. Its external stores allow it to be outfitted for other mission types, but its main role is air-to-air. Not visible are its two micro-MPAs.
SF-17 Junco Stealth - 135 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/stealthfighter.jpg)
This single-seat fighter is not particularly powerful, buts its active and passive stealth systems make up for its poor performance. It has light armor and no shielding, but heavy weaponry. It carries two specially designed anti-shield weapons, four micro-MPAs, and four minirocket packs.
SF- 15 Longspur - 100 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/bomber.jpg)
The Longspur is a heavy strike craft, though other militaries might classify it a bomber. Its small size makes it a difficult target to hit, combined with good agility. Its six heavy missiles and three AA-MPAs make it a very heavily armed craft, but has terrible performance in anything other than the vacuum of space. It is a single seater, and cuts costs by eliminating many of the defensive electronic systems present on the other fighters, focusing more heavily on offense.
Reinstated Designs
These designs are older, yet still effective. As such, they are sold at their original prices, even though their actual worth may be far more. It should be noted that all electronics have been upgraded to modern standards, as have shield systems.
Mallard RSD-1 - 70 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Mallard3.jpg)
The Mallard is the first vehicle to be developed under the area of Reconnaissance, Strike, Defense. It is a long range fighter designed to attack and defeat all other small vehicles. This makes it useful in the Defense role, both fleet and homeworld. A secondary role is that of Strike, in which the Mallard will be used to attack light targets such as transports and unarmored space stations. Reconnaissance was considered last in the development of the Mallard, and as a result it lacks in this area.
It has a two person crew and life support systems, though it can be used in or out of atmosphere. It can operate for one week on internal life support, though it must carry extra fuel. While not as maneuverable as a single seat fighter, it can operate a greater number of roles. It has standard defensive jammers, receivers, flares, and chaff. It has a long range radar due to its role as a Recon vehicle. It also has a small hyperdrive for short FTL hops.
Armament:
-2 30mm guns
-4 external weapons harpoints rated for AAMs only
-6 hardpoints for AAMs, fuel, EW or recon pods, various bombs
-internal weapons bay.
Cruciform Fighter - 50 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Cruciform.jpg)
The cruciform fighter was designed solely with the thought of engaging cruisers and battleships in mind. It has a central one-man cockpit, with four wings extending out from it in a standard crucifix shape, though the horizontal wings are longer than the verticals. It is rated as very fast and well suited to its job, though it cannot stand against other fighters. Its wings allow it to be operate in atmosphere, though its prime targets are almost exclusively limited to space. Its main armament are its four wingtip hardpoints, which are capable of carrying extremely heavy missiles, EW or stealth equipment, AAMs, fuel or FTL pods, or additional guns. It has one 20mm gun mounted in the cockpit pod. It has a low power radar, and standard receivers, flares, and chaff.
RSD-2 Seagull - 76 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Seagull.jpg)
Though of entirely new design, the RSD-2 Seagull is very similar to the RSD-1 Mallard. However, it has corrected a number of minor flaws in the Mallard. Among these is its combat maneuverability. This has been greatly increased, as has top speed. This came at the expense of armor, which was deemed to be unnecessarily heavy on the Mallard. The size of the engines was also increased, which resulted in a removal of the internal weapon's bay. It retains the two person crew, and is still not as maneuverable as some single seat fighters. However, it is expected to be on a more even dogfighting level than the Mallard, which was best suited for stand-off kills. It has the same radar as the Mallard, and all standard defensive equipment and EW equipment. It also has a small hyperdrive.
Armament
- 2 30mm guns
- 2 wingtip hardpoints for AAMs only
- 8 underwing hardpoints rated for all standard equipment
FPF-1 Raven - 100 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Raven.jpg)
The designation Fleet Protection Fighter are classes of vehicles designed to protect heavy ships from small fighters. The first is a single seat fighter with high top speed and maneuverability. It has a long range sensor package for anti-fighter work. Each squadron’s computers are linked, allowing the squadron as a whole to efficiently target and destroy large groups. It has thin armor, and standard receivers, flares and chaff. It also has a passive stealth system, making it hard for cheap, mass-produced fighters to detect in time to avoid. It is totally dependant on carriers, as it has no hyperdrive and is short range.
Armament:
- 2 30mm guns
- 8 underwing standard hardpoints
- 2 wingtip AAM hardpoints
RSD-3 Kingfisher - 140 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Kingfisher.jpg)
The RSD-3 is a new design to replace the ageing RSD-1, which was designed nearly 80 years ago. Like the other two vessels in its class, this is a two seater, but other than that it is an entirely new fighter. It uses the lessons learned from the FPF-1, a little used design, to create an effective fighter that should outgun and usually outperform any enemy combatant, vehicle-for-vehicle. It also retains the internal weapons bay of the RSD-1, keeping the extreme versatility in mission role afforded by it. It has a high power, long range sensors package, and powerful FTL generators in keeping with the reconnaissance role. It has a good maneuverability rating, and should be able to effectively engage all opponent fighters. Its missile avoidance systems are more advanced than those in any other fighter, yet still less powerful than could have been installed, as most enemy fighters do not rely on AAMs. It also has a more powerful shield generator than the RSD-1, mostly due to technological improvements. It has below average operating capabilities in-atmosphere. Due to high cost, and the war, the Kingfisher never saw much active duty. It is still a relatively untried design, not liked by modern crews due to its handling.
Armament
- 2 30mm guns
- 12 in-fuselage AAMs
- 2 wingtip AAM only hardpoints
- 10 all types hardpoints
- internal weapons bay
- 18 AAMs stored in-fuselage
FPF-2 Starling - 55 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/starling.jpg)
The FPF-1 Raven was deemed too expensive to be viable as an expendable anti-fighter protection item. It had thin armor to reduce costs, but did not need the powerful sensors it had been given, or the heavy weapons loadout and complicated electronics since these could be supplied by capitalships. The FPF-2 Starling is a low cost alternative to its expensive predecessor, and should be just as effective at taking down enemy fighters, especially when considering the low quality of the mass-produced fighters fielded by most countries. It maneuvers much better than any of the RSD series, as it is a dedicated dogfighter, and a single seater. It operates well in-atmosphere as well as in space. It has no hyperdrive, both due to its role and to save costs. It was given heavier shields than the FPF-1, mostly because of improvements in technology that allowed more powerful shields at lower cost.
Armament
- 2 30mm guns
- 8 in-fuselage AAMs
- 8 all types hardpoints
- 2 wingtip AAM only hardpoints
SF-1 Illusion Bomber - 96 million
Image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Al-Imvadjah/NS-fighters/Illusion.jpg)
This is a fast, stealthy bomber. It is designed for in-atmosphere work, but is functional in space as well. It is a part of Al-Imvadjah's expanding fighter wing, and is capable of lifting heavy bomb loads in its internal bay. Its design and construction is similar to that of the Nighthawk, and it is extremely hard for sensor systems to pick it up. It has advanced electronic countermeasures and powerful bomb aiming equipment. The Illusion also has a piggyback FTL drive to bring it stealthily into enemy systems alongside unwitting merchants as well as a standard drive. It relies entirely on its speed and stealth for protection, having no shields and the lightest of armor. It has no other armament.
