Muesilanian Peoples Protest

Muesilania

OOC: You are welcome to join this RP. But please remember, this is a news broadcast. What is said may not be as you interpret it. We are a democracy, we do not harbour terrorists and the vast majority of the population are happy. Do not attack me for petty reasons. If you wish to, get a good reason and TG me to a different thread.

The reporter was standing to the left of the screen, a huge demonstration behind her.

"The Muesilanian peoples have really disagreed with the new private road system. As you know, Muesilanian roads were privatised, with a small fee for using some. We couldn't keep the leader of the anti-road charges group for an interview, but here is what was said earlier."

The screen flicked onto the picture of a man, tall, recognisable. The core of many anti-government websites on the world wide web. In general, people in Muesilania were extremely happy with the government, but this man wasn't. Neither were the various groups he had formed. From the "pro-capitalist anti-socialist" group (attacking the governments social welfare system) to the group "who needs democracy?". His name was Lionel Porosevec.

Today, his supporters had turned out. Outside the presidential palace they stood chanting and shouting political slogans. He began to speak. "The government has mucked up the country. They do not deserve to be in power any longer! Road useage, we have to pay for. That is outrageous."

The reporter began to ask questions. "Only a small percentage of roads have fees remember. Government figures suggest, by miles of road, that only 14.8% have charges."

"Ha! You believe that. I can't turn down a street without having to pay. This is unacceptable."

The screen flicked back onto the reporter. In the background, one Lionel Porosevec was scaling the Presidential Palace gates. The number one enemy of the government was so close to getting his dreams.
Muesilania
24-09-2005, 17:04
Porosevec sat on the top of the fence, raised a fist in the air, then jumped down to the other side into a roll. He walked up to the guards, who aimed their weapons at him.

Ever since the dawn of the "new era" in Muesilania guards had been on the gate, never used, purely as a tourist attraction and show off. They were fully armed though, like a normal soldier.

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" The first soldier yelled.
"I have nothing more than a list of demands for the false president. I ask you to deliver them to him." The second soldier took the paper from Porosevec and read it. Laughing, he turned around and went to knock on the door. It was answered, and the person took the paper, read it, and retreated into the building laughing. "Thank you, I shall wait here for a reply."
"No you won't. You are not allowed here, we have no option but to arrest you for various reasons." Porosovec done nothing. "Please submit peacefully."

--------------------

President Taylor finally received the note. He read it carefully, and began to write some notes out.

The letter read as this:

We demand that you:

1) Step down as president.
2) Withdraw all armies from all areas.
3) Pull out of the UNA.
4) De-privatise roads.
5) Remove the benefits system.
6) Allow me, Lionel Porosevec, to take over as leader.

------------------

The president eventually got his reply out of the office.

Mr. Porosovec,

I understand you feel it necessary to protest against my leadership, and you are perfectly within your right to do so. It is also in your rights to form these groups you have done so attacking my government.

You are not entitled to - and I am not allowed to let you - do any of the following however:
1) Create a dictatorship within this country.
2) Enter the Presidential Palace without an invite.

I thank you for your co-operation.

"Breaking news just in. Protests outside the Presidential Palace have turned violent. Protesters burn Muesilanian flags, causing much dicontent umong the people who are not protesting. They are attacking police, who are deployed in riot gear attempting to combat them. There has been confirmed fire of rubber bullets, in an attempt to control the crowd and subdue the most violent. They police, fully armed as always, threaten to use more force if need be."

There were pictures of stones hurtling through the air and crowds throwing their bodies at the police wall. Nothing like this had ever happened in Muesilania.

OOC: I will keep adding to this, if anyone wishes to pick it up, be my guest.

The protests died down in the early hours of the next day. Protesters left the town centre, the police relieved of their crowd control task. The damage was done. People would not forget this day.

Indeed they hadn't. There is tension umong citizens, people either taking the side of Porosovec or the side of the anti-Porosevecs. The anti-Porosevecs far outnumber the Porosevec group, but it has emerged that Pororsovec is arranging a revolution. He is shipping in weapons from overseas to help in his effort.

A few days after the protests, a small shipment of weapons was found stashed within an import car. The MTF has been put into action, with the newly formed 2nd unit joining the 1st in a joint operation to remove these weapons.

Some have slipped through however, and Porosevec seems to have finally made his voice heard. The military is on high alert, the government is fully aware of the current situation.
Muesilania
27-09-2005, 18:38
The nation is split unevenly down the middle. Crime is under control, but the situation is not.

The Porosevecs and the Loyalists, as the two groups are now known as, clash daily with words or fists. In some extreme cases, weapons are used. The armed forces are now beginning to be seen on the streets as tension builds. What will happen, nobody can comprehend.

Government building, unused for a year.

The Muesilanian Task Force ran the walls of the building. Three men at the front door, and two on the other. "FLASH!" The door flew open and a grenade was thrown in. The men huddled against the wall, and a blinding flash came out. They ran in to find their targets stunned. They were down within minutes, arrested, weapons disarmed.

A huge fireball came out of the top window, sending glass flying down to the street below, where an MTF fireteam about to enter crouched to offer some protection against it as one put a shield over as many men as possible. They continued in through the door.

Team 3 scaled the walls, entering in through the two windows into the one room where the fireball had come from. The room was trashed, a complete wreck. They disabled the living and continued through the building.

-----------------------
5 minutes previous.

MTF APCs raced through the streets. The coverged on the sight, snipers set-up position as troops landed by helicoptor on the rooftop. Setting up positions in front of the building, they awaited orders. Soon enough they came. "GO GO GO!"

----------------------
2 minutes previous.

"We have a situation at Gabbon House. Five teams, one building, several targets. I want this clean guys. Lets go!"

The men climbed into their respective vehicles and left the base sirens blaring. In the APCs the troops prepared themselves. Weapons were loaded and gear sorted.

It was not usual for Secretary-General Caverra to pay Foreign Minister Kari Alhoun a visit in his own office, and Alhoun welcomed the opportunity. It had been a slow week. Everything had been slow for the last two months, since what Alhoun now referred to in his mind as the 'Amyntos incident' ([ooc:] which see). Alhoun was busy on his computer when Caverra arrived, but greeted the Secretary-General cordially.

"Anything much happening?" asked Caverra.

"Not really. It appears that our allies are all at peace, except for Khazaron, and the situation is under control there anyway. Hmmm... nothing much in the region, the area south of Neo Kervoskia is experiencing a famine, but.... Wait a minute, what's this?" Alhoun said as his secretary came in and handed him a message.

He read it through and raised his eyebrows. "Some threat of political revolution in a nation I've never heard of... Caverra, you know anything offhand about Muesilania?"

"Nothing much. Apparently it's to the east of Czardas, but I'm not sure how far."

Alhoun opened a new search window on his computer and looked for Muesilania, returning an online database, a map, the weather, and other information.

"It doesn't look a very good situation," he said. "Devolving into near-anarchy. And not the Czardaian peaceful Socialist kind of anarchy."

Caverra suggested, "Send them a greeting and see how they respond."

Alhoun did.

Porosevecs filled the streets, all armed. They rounded up some Loyalists, holding them. One shot was fired, one loyalist fell. Another shot. Another.

The 4th infantry division emerged on the scene not too long after. Shots were being fired. As barricades were set-up, helicoptors began to fire shots at the crowd. Rubber bullets were seriously injuring some. Crowd control and disarming was the main aim. If need be, full ammo was carried. The soldiers were instructed to use it if they needed.

Porosevec met in the room with the mercenary general.

It appears our situation is dire. The loyalists do not fight, they support. The Porosovecs fight however. We truly have a civil war. We hoped it did not come to this, but it has, and it is at the moment under control. This has happened however, who knows what else could happen?

We would ask that you take this oppurtunity to help us if you so wish.

We thank you.

The Porosovecs were shooting dead many soldiers, they were depleting in number. Some saved their own skins, some died for their own cause. All of a sudden, mercenary troops enclosed the division and shot them all.

-------------------

The news entered the Presidential Palace. Taylor sat there shocked.

Supreme Commander G. Robinson deployed armies onto the streets. They would defeat this evil before it escaped into other areas. Like a plague, it could be easily spread though.

Internal Affairs Minister, P. Newman, was preparing for a propaganda war.

Foreign Minister Alhoun was eating lunch when the message arrived. He put down his mozzarella and tomato baguette and read it through, nodding slightly.

He clicked on the link for Czardasnet, the official Czardas online forum where citizens came together every day to discuss and vote on bills proposed by a special legislative council called the Council of 400, and searched the forum for the name "Muesilania". Ah, someone had already started a poll asking whether Czardas should try to keep the peace in Muesilania. Most people had voted in favor of intervention already.

Alhoun smiled slightly and flipped open his cell phone.

---------------------

Supreme General Henrik A. Ogden said, "Yes, I think that can be arranged. Tell them we can send them up to 3 Guard units, and transportation for them can be readied within 24 hours."

"Ok, General. I'll let them know." Alhoun closed his phone and began typing.

The Muesilanian Government appreciates all help given. All forces can be landed at Jonu airbase, in the south, near the previous conflict. We thank you for your help again.

Porosevec forces have presented a small threat, due to their inferior numbers, but since private organisations have become involved, we are finding it harder to contain this situation. Civil war broke out a long time ago when they decided to arm themselves illegally.

Forces in Muesilania are on DEFCON 1 and are fully active. We are pumping extra funds into the military currently to pay for the logistics of it (food etc.). We thank you for your help again. We may need it.

This is the first threat to Muesilania in its history. We wished it wouldn't be an internal threat.

You have clearance to land your troops at the southeastern airbase, near where we believe Porosevec has a small mercenary army. We thank you for your support.

--------------------

Porosevec forces began to rule their areas with an iron fist. Nobody out, nobody in, unless they could make themselves useful. Open Loyalists were shot, and others who weren't so open were held captive. Action had to be taken.

The fifth division and 7th division mounted an attack from the north and the east. Stationed within the city were about 2,000 mercenaries and 500 Porosevecs. The MTF would follow to release captives, and to take down rebel forces.

-------------------

President Taylor could no longer go out on the streets without protection as was his usual practice, because of the threat on his life. He could barely go out. The Presidential Palace had been his home for a while now. almost slap bang in the middle of the city, he could not risk it. He sent out a public address.

"Our country has fallen into dissarray, due to certain minority groups taking forceful action. We assure you we are doing everything we can to defeat these vermin as quickly as possible.

We ask that you continue with your normal lives. Those who are terribly unfortunate to be in a controlled area, we urge you not to take action yourselves, and to leave your house only when necessary.

Thank you."

Together with the Muesilanian units, this will form an attack from all sides. Czardas sends out a message to the Porosevecs:

"Get down! Drop the weapon!" He pulled the gun up to take a shot and was blown to the ground simultaneously by two of the fives carbines. A sniper advanced through the street followed by a soldier with an RPG. They took up positions, defending the team.

Re: Porosevec Revolution

In these times of trouble, General Juan Sardinad extends the greetings of his people and his allies to President Taylor.

It has come to the attention of our government that you are preparing to engage in an unjust war of persecution on the revolutionaries of your nation. General Sardinad and his allies view this as an act of a corrupt government upon the people who fight for change. As a result of this, General Sardinad and the Carabellian Alliance condemn the actions of the capitalism-corrupted government of Muesilania.

The Carabellian Alliance itself denounces the government of President Taylor and calls for an end to hostilities, with an interim government being established by Lionel Porosevec, upon the basis that Porosevec has shown himself to be a nationally minded leader of men, against the capitalist corruption of the government.

Both General Sardinad and the Carabellian Alliance that he speaks for will watch these events unfold with great interest, but currently assert a stance of nuetrality in this matter until events unfold further.

I have received your message of disagreement. It sorrows both my people and myself to see such a nation stray from her path as a paragon of anti-capitalistism. I must admit my own disappointment with this shift.

Carabell and her Allies support Porosevec in seeking to place the Muesilanian Government back on its true path. To this end, Carabellian merchants and companies WILL NOT turn away trade of any form, be it for supplies and weapons, from the rebellion.

While I do not wish you luck, I admire your resolve. Our leader, General Juan Sardinad, also reminds the Muesilanian government and military that any attacks upon Carabellian vessels may be viewed as an incident of attack upon Carabell herself.

It is to our great sadness that the madness of individuals has cause chaos within your nation, and with great dissatisfaction that we learn that other nations threaten and support these rebels. Even now we face a similar situation within our own land, however the extent of the problem is much less and doesn't seem to extend beyond one town and involves less the 100,000 enemy soldiers.

This being stated we are willing to offer our help, if you expect to fight a conventional war versus the mercenaries then we suggest that you allow us to land several units of the Dinochrome Brigade, our armor (OOC: Click the link in my sig to see the units used by the Dinochrome Brigade). If you need more personnel, or both, then the heavy airlift we are willing to divert will allow us to land 50,000 soldiers per day and at least 100 Bolos. We will, of course, need a secure landing site and we will provide our own fighter escorts. We await your response...

Dr Joseph Edwards sighed. He was tired after a long day of politics. He had been making yet more speeches promising to the media the economic crisis the country was in, and all he wanted to do was site down and check affairs abroad. He pulled up the BBC website to view the current affairs abroad. One article caught his eye:

Insurrection in Muesilania causes problems for government
Following slightly controversial legislation by the government in Muesilania on the subject of privatisation of roads, including a small fee on some roads, there have been protests. These have spread into violence on both sides with civil war threatening to erupt between the sides

The rebels, lead by one Lionel Porosevec, have seized controls of some cities and are ruling them under martial law...

With another sigh, Joseph closed the screen. He walked to his secretary just outside his office. "Linda, arrange a meeting immediately with my Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs"

Half a hour later, Dr J Edwards, Mr Nallis (Minister of Defence) and Mr Rusard (Minister of Foreign Affairs) were sat down in the Cabinet meeting room. Dr Edwards broke the silence first. "So what's our situation?"

The reply from Mr Rusard came, "There is currently a state of civil war developing in Muesilania. The rebels have seized several cities and are ruling them with an iron fist, shooting or capturing men loyal to the government. It would be in our best interest to hep as they share a lot of beliefs with us within their democratic socialist governing"

"And several nations are sending in peacekeeping troops, and some are preparing for mobilization of up to hundreds of thousands of troops. This is a potentially massive situation" added Mr Nallis. He went on, "Our best course of action right now would be to fly in a small-scale deployment of troops"

Dr Edwards thought for a second. "OK, we'll send in 2000 peacekeeping infantry. Ready the troops". He dismissed his ministers and started wiriting an email to his counterpart

To: President Taylor, Muesilania

The Educated Technological State of Rolatia is shocked at your rebelling countrymen - the laws the government passed about roads are fully justified especially in the case you are in of developing your economy

Muesilania's capital city... what's its name again?

The planes are, as usual, the first ones to arrive. The twenty Daggers and ten Strikers descend from the sky like blue birds of prey. Their leader, Capt. Petroi Horan, radios out his orders. "We're to effect minimal bombing and damage. Only target known Porosevec areas. The army will do its job."

I wish these inept rebels had an air force, he thinks, sighing. It would make things so much more interesting.

A Striker leads the way towards one of the Porosevec-controlled areas and drops a single projectile -- a compact, powerful, non-radiation missile, the CX-31. It is aimed for the center of a square to minimize the damage, but get the message across to the rebels anyway.

The missile hits the ground, which seems to ripple away as a burst of fire explodes from the center of the square. A loudspeaker raises itself from Horan's SM Dagger as he shouts out, "You have been warned!"

Then the guard divisions arrive.

Transport helicopters drop the men in the rural areas outside of the Porosevec-controlled area as jeeps and armored cars begin to arrive. Soldiers rush ahead, their assault rifles and submachine guns at the ready. Ahead of them is a Porosevec barricade, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the sector. The lead Czardaian opens fire, as do the other hundred-odd fighters in the first wave.

And these people call themselves soldiers? he thinks, watching his men pick them off.

The rhythm of the attack on this road into the city settles down into a regular exchange of fire between the Czardaians and the Porosevecs at the barricades. It's fairly obvious that the Czardaians, with advantages in numbers and training if not equipment, have the upper hand.

All around the southern end of the city, similar battles are taking place. In some places Czardaian troops have forced their way in. In others they are still fighting at the gates. In the meantime, transport helicopters and planes drop more groups of men within the city itself, to liberate the Porosevec-controlled sectors.

President Taylor stepped up to the podium. "We would like to remind any nation or private organisation that guns are illegal in Muesilania with exception to the police or military. Any nation or organisation will be stopped from bringing in weapons for private sale or distribution." He waited for a second to let his message sink in. "You will not be treated lightly."

He stepped down, as he thought what will happen if our message did not get across?

To: Pantycellan
From: G. Robinson, Supreme Commander

We thank you for your offer of help, but our small proffesional army has no need for these supplies or this training. We hope that you do not feel badly about our decision. The last thing we need, or want, is for an enemy to emerge.

We, as a government, would like to open up diplomatic relations in the future. Again, we thank you for your offer of help.

We thank you for your offer of help. We would like to have the support you offer.

OOC: I did not worry about finding your nation size. To be honest, who cares, as long as you don't send in half your military to outnumber the rebels by 200:1. It would be good to keep it fair.

OOC 2: Should we close this thread? I think this has a risk of getting overcrowded.

OOC 3 :p : I should have said this before. The capital city is called Monisica (thank god for generators :D )

A car drove through the city, all of sudden it braked, screeching to a halt. Men jumped the car, dragging the four people out. They took them to the ground, arrested them and knocked them out.

They got into the car, into the boot, searching it. "HERE!" The sergeant of the MTF fireteam went over to the man.

"Hmm... We need to take these men in. You get this car to the compound, we'll load the men up, follow us back."

The MTF had been carrying on its anti-Porosevec operations. They struck quickly, efficiently, and so far with only two casualties. Their training was excellent, their equipment of good quality. The first and second units were operational, the third was still recruiting from the military elite. The unit, created not too long ago, was proving a useful tool in wartime, almost as useful as it was in peacetime.

Monisica International Airport

A distant rumbling is heard, but for an international airport that is normal. In a few minutes that faint rumbling turned into a Scellian C-240 Pallas aircraft, its tires touching down soon after its black dot having appeared in the sky. With a cloud of smoke and dust the sleek transport aircraft touches down, and taxies to the nearest empty spot off the runway. Almost all civilian airliners had left the country at the start of the civil war, and what few remained were safely tucked away deep within hangars or at other airfields. It was mainly the aircraft of other nations that concerned the specially trained Scellian FACs, as all 150 filed off the Pallas. They weren’t dressed in full Scellian battle gear, and on the tarmac in the blazing sun even advanced personal cooling systems wouldn’t have stopped the soldiers from frying.

For an hour after the arrival of the FACs it was chaos, the Scellians arguing with other nations and pilots refusing to move their planes without “orders from someone within my own damned military”. Several times it took the threat of landing cargo planes on top of their fighters to get the pilots to grudgingly move, but after an hour of frustration and hard work the runway and surrounding area had been cleared. Off in the distance another rumble started, but it progressed to a roar and finally ended in a bone shaking subsonic blast of noise. 50 C-71 Progeny heavy lift cargo planes and 150 C-240 Pallas transports were arriving en masse, The C-71’s were composed of two chevrons, one of thirty and one of twenty. The second chevron of thirty was flying significantly slower then the rest of the planes, and bobbed and weaved in the air as if overloaded.

It took all six runways at MIA two hours to land all the planes, the most difficult being those twenty Progeny’s at the end. Once everyone was landed the unloading began, the C-240’s having the easiest time unloading 15,000 troops and their assorted gear and supplies. It was the C-71’s that had the greatest difficulty, mainly because of the last twenty. The first chevron had carried with it 30 Mk II Bolos, enough firepower to halt a major armored push by lesser tanks. The real surprise was in the enigmatic twenty C-71’s, and a mechanic on the ground summed up everyone’s feeling precisely.

“”How the hell did you get the plane to fly with THAT in it?!?!”

For out of the cargo bays of those planes rolled twenty Mk III Bolos, who prompt ran out of gas once off the ramp of the plane. How they did it was exactly that, not a single one of the Mk III Bolos had enough gas to go for more then ten feet and absolutely no ammunition. This was, of course, corrected post haste. It would take another hour and a half to get the planes refueled and back into the air so that the fighter complement could land. 112 F/X-22s and 224 F/X-35s took nearly as long as the transports to land, but took much less time to find and use hangers around the airport. The first wave of Scellian forces had arrived, and even as the first cargo planes disappeared over the horizon other wave could be picked out coming in.

End of Day Scellian Forces
Troops: 150,000
In Country Support Personnel: 50,000
Tanks:
-120 Mk II Bolos
-30 Mk III Bolos
Aircraft:
-112 F/X-22
-336 F/X-35
-24 B/X-2

OOC: I'll have something about my standard soldier up on my Wiki soon, but the Bolos and F/X and B/X stuff is there. Link in sig.

To: All nations involved

Thank you for your forces. We would wish you to try and keep civilian casualties at a bare minimum, to respect our protected buildings and national landmarks and to keep troops away from natives. We also remind you that the killing of the Muesilanian Jaguar is frowned upon and usually carries big consequences.

------------------

G. Robinson was the supreme commander of the Muesilanian forces. He flicked through the folder detailing the current casualties. So far, 558 men had died. 500 of those were in the first day massacre. 58 had been killed in conflicts with mercenaries or rebels. Approximately 172 civilians had died at the hands of Porosovecs forces for being loyal to the government.

This was a bloody rebbelion, unexpected but mostly under control.

Dr Edwards made a phone call to his chief air general. "OK general, we need to move out 4MS and 50 people from 6MS (800 medics), 1600 mediuim infantry from 2MIS, 1200 recon-trained medium infantry from 2MIS and 350 SOV-06 Infantry Combat Vehicle, also from 2MIS . Load them onto fifteen of our new SC-79 Skyhawk Transport Planes. Oh, and make sure our ten Lu-45 Hawk Air Superiority Fighter accompany them."

The general remarked "Sir, not to question your authority but are you sure this is a good idea? We already have a large amount of our army away in El Salvador and Sierra Leone, and we may not be able to afford it.

Joseph had to think for a moment before responding "We can afford it. It is but a small detachment of our armed forces, and we must stop these foreign rebels - the rebel leader appears to be quite mad, and we cannot let an upstanding nation like theirs fall into the hands of madmen - we must do what little we can afford. So go deploy the troops, General"

With that, the general nodded and made the announcement. Meanwhile, Dr Edwards wrote another letter to his counterpart

TO: President Taylor, Muesilania
Greetings again,
We are flying troops into your country now to help against the rebels. Our contribution has increased in size, with 300 more medics, an armoured jeep squad of 350 SOV-06 Infantry Combat Vehicle and 1200 crew members and 100 more general medium infantry. We shall command these, but we will battle on your side

OOC: RP the rebels by all means. This is a chance to get my country some of those attributes. You can spice it up a bit, no need to ask.

Basically, it has large forests, a small mountain range to the north is shared with the only neighbouring country. The forests are on hills, with a burgeoning jaguar population and native people held within. The main city is just over to the left of the middle of the civilised area. There are 5 airbases, 4 navy ports (shared with civilians in some cases) and about 7 civilian ports. The Presidential Palace and central government buildings are held within the capital. Other government buildings are held in other cities.

Any other info you need, just let me know.

they will of course be under the higher command of your forces if you do want them.

we would be proud to open diplomatic relations at a future time.

we will also aid you in preventing any nation from interfering in your internal affairs.

OOC: Ok thanks, one more question, can I use that neighbouring nation to send my weapons through? Or is it really a nation that I have to ask permission? You have a bit more info on these mercenarys, are they properly trained?

A bald officer walked through the corridors of the Tadjik HQ, nervously he walked to the office of his Commander in Chief, He had been called there for some reason but he did not know why. He could guess though, he was only called upon if it had something to do with guerilla warfare. Afterall, he was Budimir Loncar, the General who had defeated the Communist rebels in his own country.
He knocked on the door of his commander in chief, Blagoja Samblevski, also a General in rank, but much better at politics than Loncar and thus the C-in-C.
Enter Samblevski yelled as he stood behind his desk looking into the books on the shelves behind him.
Ah, Budimir, Sit down. You are probably wondering why I have called you here
Loncar was not surprised that Samblevski recognized him without seeing him, noone in the Tadjik army was as nervous and agressive as Loncar, and the way he slammed a door open could not be copied by anyone.
'I'm guessing it has something to do with guerilla warfare in some nation I have never heard, what rebel movement do I have to fight this time?

'You dont have to fight them...' Samblevski replied as he turned around and took a seat behind his desk 'Please sit down, so i can explain' He pulled a cord and out came a map of Muesilania 'This is Muesilania, a small socialistic nation, One Lionel Porosevec has begun a rebelion there against the government. Appearantly they privatised the roads and now people have to pay for using them'.

[i]'I believe we should aid this man, Porosevec to form a new government, our Main Intelligence Directorate tells me he is a rather cruel man, but a good leader, just look at what he achieved so far.'
I am making you director of our Muesilanian bureau, you will have a mandate as a Main Intel Directorate officer and you will be able to select any officer that you wish to have on our staff. The president has agreed to my plans and offers you a blanc cheque. You can buy as much weapons and technology for these rebels as you think they will need. Offcourse you cannot send in Tadjik equipment, Their government must not be able to trace these weapons down to us.'

'Before we continue, i have a few questions' Loncar said, confused as he was by what he knew of this conflict 'Does the population support this Porosevec? And are we just to give these people weapons without proper training?'

Samblevski knew Porosevecs support was limited but he felt this would be a good opportunity for him to enhance his reputation with the politicians and he told Loncar what he wanted to hear 'You shouldnt worry about that. Most Muesilanians will support him, Its only a minority that wants to get rid of him. Its also this minority that controls the media and tries to tell you otherwise. As for the training, you may send operatives, but if found, the Tadjik Government will deny involvement. A captured operative or instructor is completely on his own.'

'Good, I know enough,' Loncar said as he stood up 'I will get on it immediatly'
Loncar was not convinced of what he was doing, but an order is an order and he'd help the Muesalanians, so he formed a staff of NCOs, JCOs and civilians and after checking the situation, he started looking for weaponry.

A day or two later, Major Zuhurov arrived in the mountains in the North of Muesilania, where he met people of the Muasilanian anti-government movement. Zuhurov knew just like Loncar that what they were doing wasnt exactly correct, but Zuhurov hated communists and anti-capitalists, he was even prepared to lie to his superiors to increase support for the rebels.

A first small delivery to the rebels included some Javelin systems to counter the enemies airsupport, some HJ8E antitank systems, rifles of Western origin and some extra ammunition. Zuhurov was to go into Muesilania with the weapons and his assistent who would train the Muesilanian rebels on these weapons.

OOC: these weapon systems have a good a hitratio in the real world and everyone can look them up, dont start discussions on their effectiveness against your weaponry and just RP.
If someone wants to RP the rebels, you can.

The planes flew across the skies on the way to Jonu. The soldiers were very tense, and realised they were in for a very large fight. There was no action until one of the fighter jets spotted several threatening aircraft. They managed to avoid ther sight luckily, but the pilot alerted intelligence services, who managed to use the on-site computers to find information about the aeroplane. They then met with Dr Edwards in his office. Edwards adjusted his glasses and remarked "So why is this large ship a problem?"
The junior officer, aged 23 and known as Xenon, remarked "Well sir, this plane appears to be a military cargo plane first and formost. We also have identified it comes from Tadijikistan, a country who are not officially supporting the government yet"
His senior, aged 35 and known as Tungsten, added "Our scans on recent military activity shows that they are moving some troops. You would be well advised to closely moniter the situation".
Dr Edwards just sat there, still, for about half a minute. The spies grew uneasy, but eventually he responded. "OK, have our troops landed yet?"
"Yes, sir" said Xenon
"Good. Get our air forces back at top speed. We cannot afford to leave excess airforce in there. Meanwhile, please monitor the situation. Oh, and order our troops to stay with the Scellian troops. There is strength in numbers, and our force is too weak to act alone. I will inform their leader"
As Tungsten and Xenon left the room, Dr Edwards got to work composing an email:

a small cargo ship sailed towards muesilania totaly unremarkable from its rust stained hull to the crates on its deck

a frigate of the Pantycellen naval guard approched it

a hail went up "halt your will be boarded this is a partial blockade, prepare for armed boarders, any resistance will be eliminated and your vessel sunk if you do not comply peacable"

some of the crewmen on the cargo ship pulled off covers on the crates
revealing them to be cannon and rocket launchers

shots pumped out scything down the boarding party, limbs being blown off and red mist spraying up into the air.

"return fire now!!" shouted the bridge officer

a rocket slammed into the rear gun position before the gun was working touching off the amunition and sending a fountain of metal and body parts into the air

then the light anti aircraft guns on the bridge opened up explosions blossoming on the cargo ship.

then the forward dp fired blowing the bridge of the ship off and then proceding to hole the ship several times below the water line.

as the ship sank comodore rachel chudley spoke quietly to one of the bridge officers. "ready depth charges no survivors"

The southern end of Monisica

The Czardaian troops have joined forces with the MTF to defeat the rebels. Gun battles in the streets are frequent, despite President Taylor's announcement, but the well-trained Czardaians fought well enough, losing less than a hundred in battles against the rebels and their mercenary fighters. So far, several of the controlled areas have been "liberated" and mostly cleansed from rebels.

But in other parts, the battle is not going so well for the allied forces. Fierce house-to-house fighting has erupted. Men battle for days, slowly gaining or losing more houses along a single street. It looks as though on the ground, this rebellion isn't going to be all too easy to control. And with the President of Muesilania's orders concerning the buildings... they can't really use the planes for much except "warnings" and hitting open targets.

OOC: These mercenaries can be either. We will say relatively well trained, but not exactly top rate soldiers. Also, I dont know if this is just a mistake or it was intentional (say you were roleplaying the ignorance of this man or something) but the minority are Porosevecs. The majority, a large majority is Loyalist.

Also, Czardas. I don't know if you aware or not, but the Muesilanian Task Force (MTF) is a small force, used specifically for small scale tasks from anti-terrorism to policing. They are not taking a main role in the conflict. Think of them as the fingers of the army who do everything that they can't effectively.

And one last thing directed at Tadjikistan, sorry if (at end you'll find out what Im on about) you think this is godmodding. I just think this could be over quickly if they are just in one city.

IC:

Muesilanian troops went in to secure more land in the cover of darkness. They moved quickly and silently, setting up posts in some places to stop rebel recapture.

G. Robinson, supreme commander, was so far pleased with his troops work. However, news was emerging that rebel forces were spreading. Small groups were being found in some places on roads outside the cities.

[ic:]

Major Alvart Sandier, sitting in the drawing-room of a house in a "controlled" area the Czardaians have taken from the rebels, reads through the papers on his desk: a report from his division commanders concerning the events in the Muesilanian capital.

Czardas has lost over 350 soldiers in various skirmishes and battles around the city, or at the barricades surrounding each sector—a number similar to the estimated rebel and mercenary losses. More worrisome than that, however, is that the rebellion is spreading outside of the city and rebels are taking up positions on the roads leading away from Monisica—and another nation, Tadijikistan, has promised aid to the rebels. How extensive this will be, he doesn't know, but it could be the first serious threat to Muesilania.

"Drat," he mutters under his breath. He radios out an order. "Capt. LaFleur, I want you to take five hundred men out of the city onto the roads. Search for rebel camps and destroy them. Alsan, take your planes and launch a fire attack on enemy barricades outside the city. Aim for buildings, not people. We want them to realize that their mission is hopeless so they will surrender."

A column of Czardaian troops leaves the city as planes whir overhead. Satisfied that his orders are being carried out, the Major sits back in his chair and allows himself a brief moment of relaxation. He smiles.

it would be usefull if we had some liasing

I don't want to accidently frag one of your ships that would be bad

as would the reverse

i've got a few dozen patrol boats and a handfull of other heavyer craft in the area

if you have any ports available to me that would be good not all my boats have good endurance so would be more effective if they could refuel

also if I could unload any prisoners/wounded that would be good

any troops you need I can have ovr to you soon

how about a company of snipers and a regiment of assault engineers to aid you (assault engineers are house to house/fortification fighting specialists in my army)

OOC: General Samblevski is not ignorant, he just lied about the majority supporting Prosevec, makes things easier for him.
If you have plans, TG them to me. Currently the rebels are fighting a normal conventional battle but if I take over, i'll make them go guerilla.
Czardas, Tadjikistans support to the Posevecs is secret. Officialy, my nation would never aid a movement that does not share democratic values. Unofficially we can support anyone who could be an valuable in the future.

'If it were up to me Mr Prosevec, I'd go for Guerilla warfare. Death by a thousand cuts. If we keep this up, we will end up losing.' Major Zuhurov said to Prosevec in the cellar of a house in the outskirts of the city. But Prosevec wasnt too convinced of what the Major said 'Things are going well, so why retreat? We have caused heavy casualties among enemy troops so far.'
Zuhurov sighed 'And how long will that last? Sure you have the advantage that you know this terrain better than they do. But once they get to know it and improve their cooperation with the Government troops, things will change and I dont think it'll be easier for you.'
'I know what I'm doing' Prosevec replied, 'we will hold on to whatever part of the city we have for as long as we possibly can. Taylor will have to give in when he sees he cant beat us. If i'm wrong and they drive us back then we'll do it your way.'
Zuhurov didnt like the answer, but he was here as an advisor, not a commander.

Captain Mayorov had been more succesfull out on the streets. While most rebels and mercs were still fighting and losing skirmishes in a conventional way, he now started to convince some that there were better ways to take out enemy targets. While some men took up positions outside the cities he had given them the few Javelin SAMs and HJ8E AT systems and gave them specific orders to allow the enemy to close in on the barricades and open fire from the flanks.

Inside the city the battle continued with rebels losing area's and taking some. Thanks to this being their city, they were succesful against some of the foreign troops but the Muesilanian units had taken several sectors during the night and had entrenched themselves around them. And although the mercenaries attacked them twice they could not recapture them.
The rebels had no other choice but to defend, hopefully the Tadjiks could bring in more weapons so the battle could be turned into their favor.

The United Socialist States of Colmon (USSC) is split 50/50 in parliament over whether to aid it's ideologically allies in Muesilania (President Taylor's Government). The final vote on the matter turned out a 165 - 151 victory for the pro-intervention side. However this is not a big enough victory to go to war on (as stipulated in the constitution).

However, pro-intervention civilians have created a so-called 'International Volunteers Brigade' (IVB) which has already recruited over 3,500 adult men and women, with the intention to go and fight for socialist democracy in Muesilania. Premier Regal has allowed this to go ahead unhindered and later meets with the leader of the IVB to give him diplomatic advice.

From: The National Government of The United Socialist States of Colomon
To: The Loyalist Government of Muesilania

Premier Regal regrets to inform you that the USSC cannot send miltary aid in to Muesilania, due to parliaments blocking of the required Bill.
However, The IVB; a group outside the offical military, is planning to move in troops. There are about 3,500 men and women availbale to fight, but they are poorly trained and (from what the government can gather) armed with aging weaponry. Colonel Peterson (Leader of the IVB) beleives that despite this the IVB will be effective in 'counter-Guerilla warfare', given our civilians own experience during the socialist democratic revolution just 10 years ago (ousting the fascists).
Please contact the IVB to show them where to land and deploy their people, we expect that they will follow your armies orders.
We hope that the IVB can be of assistance to you and I (The Premier) apologise for the lack of official response.

Premier Ché Regal and

[ooc:] True, but Czardas is well known for its expert intelligence department. We can intercept a large number of international and even intranational transmissions.

I'll RP one small group of rebels, and leave the rest to whoever was supposed to do them.

[ic:]

The task force of 500 men had its first success in finding a rebel blockade along a road leading south from the city. With the Czardaians' training and equipment, their victory seemed apparent, and in fact it was not long before their commander gave in. The leader in charge of the force sighed. So these people called themselves rebels? They could barely fire a gun, most of them, let alone fight in battle! It seemed almost easy to storm their positions and pick them off using sharpshooters or snipers. But then, after the expertly trained and much better equipped Imperial Galactican army, anything was easy.

Overhead, the planes too had found a target and were shelling it with lighter missiles or firing down at it with their guns. The CX-31s had yet to be brought into play.

It looked a bit like Czardas had the south side well under control, but in truth the rebellion was proliferating outside of the city even as Czardaians gained houses in the occupied sectors.

Status:The IVB now has around 4,200 enlisted. Roughly 2,600 have been trained.

Supreme Commander Robinson,
Thank you for the offer of weapons, I cannot say how grateful I am that my own son won't need to go to battle armed with a semi-auto SLR. The Premier is also trying to get us some better arms but officially he isn't allowed to, so that may never come. Currently we have around 50 bolt-action sniper rifles, but quite astoundingly we have about 300 good snipers (who cuold be dispatched immediately).
The training is being conducted by pre-revolution Socialist paramilitary officers. Some of the civilians enlisted are also veterans of the revoution (about 900) and so their training is more re-capping. The vast bulk of the force (about 3,300) is being given training similar to that of war-time conscripts: How to fire your weapon, reload it, look after it, various battlefield and Guerilla tactics and basic discipline. Training lasts about a week but until we move out many of the first platoons will be continuing with it. I have toi concede though that my soldiers are un-paid civilians fighting for a cause that will not directly affect them and their families; These people have only joined up to fight for the world socialist & democratic ideology. For this reason they are growing restless with training, many feeliing they are not doing their duty. For this reason I request that our landing etc. can be organised as soon as you deem them ready for action.

It is not when I deem them ready that is important. When you believe they are ready, they are welcome. We have weapons waiting for them, for 3,500 men. More are being assembled. We could do with details of what is needed. We can have the sniper rifles sorted in no time.

Again, thanks for the support.

they are quite good weapons they are still in use in many european countries real world

I would like to offer arms and training to the IVB my weapons are old fashioned (at least in the realms of personal weapons) but they are simple robust and very effective.

Monisica International Airport, 15 Miles from City Center

The Scellian forces began to move, the mighty war machine that the Concordiat had landed within the airport had finally gotten all its supplies and fuel from the homeland and was ready to move. The massive Bolos providing a leading wedge for the 5 Infantry Divisions, the slower infantry being outpaced by the faster armor. In front of the Bolos the speedy MS-1As raced about, probing the paths for mines of all sorts and identifying the positions of any infantry that appeared. The tanks hadn't hit the city proper yet as they rolled through block after block of one and two story residential housing.

There had been little resistance so far, the infantry stopping to clear the houses and make sure that the Bolos wouldn't be flanked. While the Bolos were more then capable repelling any such attack it could lead to losses, which would best be avoided by infantry searches. However most importantly the Scellian forces were moving, moving toward the very heart of the city.

"Major, it appears a much larger army is coming towards us, armed against the rebels."

"Really? What nationality?" Sandier turns to look at his aide.

"Scellian, I believe, sir," replies the aide.

"Scellia... Wasn't that the country we helped in their own coastal rebellion not too long ago?"

"I believe so, sir."

"Good. Contact them and tell them that we—the Czardaians—are occupying the south, and that this sector can serve as a base if they need one."

"Yes, sir." The aide sends off the following message to the Scellian soldiers:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings! We, the troops of the Concordance, have arrived in Muesilania and are occupying the southern part of Monisica. You are free to use our liberated sectors as stations for your troops if you so wish.
~The Czardaian Army.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One after another, the ten Striker bombers targeted the rebel camps outside Monisica, firebombing them or launching missile strikes. The rebels would get the idea. Afterwards, the task force would enter and deal with whoever managed to survive. Usually it wasn't too many.

"Sir, communication from Czardian forces, they offer a secure base within their sectors. Based off our current firepower estimates it is unlikely that we will need a base for the Bolo forces, however the infantry we take with us will need it."

"My thinking exactly, fire off a message to that effect wouldja?"

"Yes Commander."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
While out armor will have no need for a base such as this our infantry and resupply forces would be most appreciative to use your base as a safe area. Your troops, should they come under heavy fire, are welcome to retreat to the nearest Bolo held area to take shelter under its guns.
We permit usage of our sectors for whatever purposes you would deem them necessary, and will certainly take cover in your armored areas if no other recourse is available. Its ultimate destination is the southern part of Monisica, to reinforce the Czardaian soldiers already stationed there. They will be landing in the same base as the first wave.
Along with the equipment is another task force of 1000 infantry from the 2nd Field Army.
Meanwhile, the Czardaians are methodically destroying all of the rebel camps south of Monisica, while the Scellians, marching through the north, appear to be dealing with the rest.
According to our intelligence, the maximum enemy strength appears to be under 5,000 poorly trained and equipped fighters, many of them mercenaries. However, outside of Monisica there are estimated to be at least 50,000 Porosevec supporters, and perhaps even more. Their total fighting strength may near 20,000 around the country.
03-10-2005, 00:19
Today, the elected head cleric of Tilooka, the Exaulted Heinrich Sebastian, addressed the Tilookan people, and the world as a whole:
"Greetings under the Light of God.
We are entering dark days. In the nation of Muesilania, an oppressive and corrupt government has been passing laws that have angered the population enough so that they have entered into a full-scale rebellion.
However, rather than hear and comply with the requests of the people, the government has opted to take up arms against their own population. Muesilanians are dying now for the sake of corporate profits and a corrupt regime that props them up.
Even more grievious is the fact that, when it was obvious that the anger of the people against a tyrannical government and their will to be free could not be contained, several additional nations have volunteered to send forces to violently end the lives of these freedom loving people.
Of further outrage is that the nations that have sent military and medical aid have sent aid to the corrupt government and military of Muesilania, but the people of Muesilania are being totally neglected!
People of Tilooka, I ask you to join me in demanding that foreign intervention in Muesilania ends. If it is the will of the people that this government be overthrown, then a corrupt regime should not be allowed to continue operating in the stead of a valid government.
All foreign members of the Faith are immediately called on to protest further intervention in Muesilania. These injustices cannot be allowed to stand.
Tilooka will be sending 3 companies of medics and engineers to aid the Muesilanian people in their time of need. We call on the government to allow us to tend to the plight of the people, and allow these units access to their country."
To: Lionel Porosevec
From: The Exaulted Heinrich Sebastien
Greetings under the Light of God.
Any nation that honors the wants and greed of corporations and privatization over the needs of its people is not a nation worthy of the name.
Tilooka has been watching your plight; the expected capitalist reaction of attempting to violently suppress views and opinions that differ from what they believe will result in the "greatest profit" has come to pass.
Unfortunately, Tilooka lacks the military to aid you in this time of Darkness. However, Tilooka is a nation of faith with members world-wide. We may not be able to aid militarily, but we will provide all we can in the way of PR and propaganda. We will ask all faithful members world-wide to protest military intervention in Muesilania, and support the overthrow of the corrupt government present there.
Additionally, we will dispatch medical and logistical assistance under the guise of aid and support of the civilians in Muesilania, who are obviously neglected by their government.
Please communicate any additional requests for support you might have.
13h00, Muesilanian bureau, Loncars office
An officer knocked on Loncars door and as the General responded he opened it and sent in Major Zuhurov, who had just arrived from Muesilania.
'Ah, Major Zuhurov, I have been waiting for you. I'd like to know how the situation is.'
Zuhurov hated communists and anti-capitalists, but to lie here would be dumb. General Loncar had fought a rebel army himself and he would soon find out that things werent as General Samblevski told him.
[i]'Not very good I am afraid.'
Loncar wasnt surprised, he never really believed the intel he had received from High Command, but none the less, he wished to hear more.
'Not very good? What does that mean Major? I have yet to receive news of the defeat of the rebel movement.'
'Well sir, The rebel leader is quite stubborn, he refused to make a tactical withdrawal from the city and go for a guerilla war. At first I didnt quite understand why he was so reluctant. But I did some research and ... well, he simply does not have the support that we believed he had.'
'And the longer his rebellion lasts, the less people will support him. He doesnt go for a guerilla war because he can win it.'
Exactly as Loncar thought. He had no agents before Tadjikistans involvement but he had been ready the newspaper and was always interested when it was about a rebellion or guerilla war. He had been suspicious from the start.
'Well, major, what do you suggest?'
'Honestly sir?'
'Honestly!'
'We should end the whole operation before something goes wrong. Just send them whatever weapons we've bought so far and end it there. Captain Mayorov managed to actually teach some rebels how to use the weaponsystems we got them, he's already on his way back so there's nothing to be worried about.'
'And we followed your orders to keep our identity secret! In which, I believe, we succeeded.'
'Good' General Loncar answerred, 'I'll inform General Samblevski that we're no longer going to help Porosevecs rebellion, I'll make up a report. In the meantime, Major, think about what you'll do next, which branch of our army you want to be transferred to and I'll see to it.'
"You know what I've always wanted to do to institutions that unjustly take money from citizens?" he says to his aide.
Wordlessly the captain opens fire on the toll booth. Shots puncture and shatter it. Around him other soldiers in nearby jeeps do the same. The operator leaps free of the wreckage as the soldiers turn their weapons on the gate; explosions shatter its metal bars, resounding throughout the silence of the early morning.
Within a very few minutes, the toll booth is just a smoking pile of metal wreckage. Reloading his gun, the commander, Capt. James LaFleur, informs his men, "I can see why these rebels chose to so revolt."
Tilookan Protests Begin in Czardas
(AP) -- Palma, Czardas
The sounds of cheering can be heard on the outskirts of Palma, where a small area, known as Tilooka-ville to the residents, is celebrating the "brave defiance and patriotism of Captain LaFleur."
Before Tilooka existed as a nation, it was a feudal semi-state that many residents fled in hopes of finding peace and stability elsewhere. Starting around two decades ago and ending five years ago, several thousand Tilookans settled in Czardas centered around Palma, in hopes of taking advantage of the tourist trade (and, in some cases, the tourists themselves).
Czardas has a rich history of civil and political freedom, however, and the protests of the minority Tilookan population appears to be speading to some already-agitated members of Palma. A city hall protest yesterday to intervention in Muesilania attracted just short of one thousand citizens of Tilookan ancestry, but several thousand others.
Regrettably, some of the protesters did not appear to understand why or what they were protesting. When questioned, one young man simply said, "Because the government sucks! What other reason do you need?"
While the protests appear to be held for political reasons, it's become clear that some unsavory elements are attempting to take advantage of the situation to further their own ends. The guard units of Palma were called on earlier today to put down a riot in front of a Yako-Cola bottling facility. The arrested protesters claimed to be protesting the Muesilania intervention, but were obviously stealing boxes of Yako-Cola, which is currently under investigation for putting addictive elements into their products.
Protests are planned in other cities within Czardas. In addition to boosting internal security, the government of Czardas is assuring all parties that the damage done by the protestors is actually very minor, and for the most part their actions are well within their constitutional rights.
A street in Monisica
This street has become a battlefield. The supporters of LaFleur have managed to take control of a number of Czardaian tanks, numbering at least 20, and the planes seem to be not entirely convinced that staying with Sandier is the best idea. Already about ten, mostly daggers with two bombers and a fighter, have broken from the rest of the group. The tanks, clearing a swath through the street, are inflicting great damage on the soldiers remaining loyal to Sandier, who are bringing out their own tanks and using the planes to try and counter this. The rebels seem to be helping, firing down on the Czardaians from windows -- or are they rebels? Sandier, in his secure quarter far away, is near despair. He wonders how long it can take for the reinforcements to arrive.
The rogue planes are perhaps the most troublesome. They fly high over the Scellian-occupied areas, dropping missiles and shelling their Bolo divisions, before disappearing into the clouds, returning and striking unexpectedly—seemingly unaware that Scellian planes are less than ten minutes away. Meanwhile, at toll gates around the south of the city, Czardaian troops are clashing with the Muesilanians. The disturbing numbers continue to flow into Sandier's office: Thirty tollgates destroyed and fifty threatened. Eighty of his soldiers killed in conflicts. Well over half his force turned traitor.
In the midst of this tumult, the message from Scellia arrives, and Sandier eagerly replies:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You may attack and disarm my fellow soldiers, but try to kill as few as possible. I especially want Capt. LaFleur, their leader, kept alive so he can be tried for his war crimes in Czardas. We have reinforcements coming anyway to help keep the situation under control.

The newscaster, a stereotypical young woman with an advertising voice, turns to a screen showing scenes of violence and protest.

"And now, for the latest news on the Muesilanian revolt. A little over half the current force stationed in Muesilania has, according to reports, broken away from the main force and joined the rebellion, resulting in an escalation of violence and unstability in the city. This coincides with protests against Czardaian involvement on the side of the Muesilanian government held today in Palma, Adarion, Viyèl, and a number of other cities." The footage onscreen cuts to the beaches at Palma, where placard-wielding protestors can be seen chanting.

"This pro-revolt sentiment has also captured the attention of Field General Nathaniel Leodamas, who states that if need be he will call his entire division, numbering as many as 200,000 strong, to aid in the rebel cause. Public opinion is beginning to swing in favor of the rebellion; polls on the Czardasnet online forum state that 31% of all citizens now believe involvement on the part of the rebels is better than against them. A spokesperson for the Czardaian government stated that the situation is under control."

[ooc:] What range do the SAMs have? How high can they fire (feet please, not meters)? As for your planes, mine can find a way to avoid yours, such as by retreating into our own airspace less than an hour (our speed) away, where any invasion of Czardas's airspace will be counted as a threat and thus result in immediate mobilization of a number of planes vastly exceeding your 300.

Besides, most of them are either a) counting on their reinforcements, when they arrive, to back them up or b) suicide pilots (including the "needle-bombers", when a plane extends its needle and dives down at an enemy craft).

[ooc:] Not generally being a stats-based RPer, I never bothered to come up with much more for them than the name and a few things...such as their range and general attributes. However, as a general range, they can fly at heights approaching 80,000 feet, although the upper reaches of this are dangerous and should only be attempted by very good pilots. (The SM Dagger, a variant of this plane, can reach 90,000 ft.) They are also extremely fast due to their small size, which allows the powerful engines to propel them farther and faster than the other planes in the Czardaian army. They can generally fly at up to about 800 mi/h. I'm assuming that they'd stay as close to the end range as possible to be able to hit their targets, and then fly away or upwards to avoid your fighters.

So I'll accept that you fired on the Bolos, just that very few munitions got close enough to be a threat and those were engaged by Infinite Reapters long before they reached the ground.

Bolo Mk III HNR; Command Bolo

Though he was wrapped in 300 tons of weapons and armor Brig. Gen. Johnson though he could hear the detonation of bombs as they impacted the ground. Though he knew that Honor had had him authenticate an order for 24 F/X-22s to take out the attacking fighters three minutes ago he still felt concern as the bombardment continued. His heart lept into his throat as he heard the whine of his Bolos infinite repeaters pumps hundreds of round skyward. Then the guns stopped, and he waited...

"This is Phare Alpha to Phare squadron prepare for final mission update. All aircraft in area are to be considered hostile, I repeat all aircraft are hostile. We've had ground tell all currently allied planes to wave out, if they're still there frag 'em. On my mark, go from supercruise to max afterburner, let go get 'em!"

"Asidos Alpha to squadron, copy on Phare Alphas message and follow the Phares in."

Twenty four F/X-22 Raptors streak across the sky, accelerating to Mach 2.2 as they make their final approach to AIMX-120C missile range.

OOC: Mach 2.2 is 1,675 MPH.

[ic:] "Unknown aircraft approaching, what should we do?"

The commander of the plane squad grits his teeth. "Prepare for close combat. They're either Scellian, Czardaian, or Muesilanian, and currently all of those are our enemies."

"They outnumber us 2:1 sir, and they're going faster than our top speeds!"

"Split, then."

The ten Daggers split into two lines of five, each going in an opposite direction. They circle around and head for Czardas to pick up reinforcements. Everyone knows what will happen if the Scellian planes even so much as touch Czardaian airspace anyway.

On the ground below, the rogue Czardaian soldiers and the rebels together are heading through the streets towards the headquarters of the road companies, in downtown Monisica, the tanks around them serving as a guard. Numbering over four thousand in total, the combined forces have stopped traffic on the major streets, destroying all toll gates they find.

Because Muesilania asked,
I quit the RP, Its no longer enjoyable.
First of Czardas, The only people who know Tadjikistan is aiding the rebels are the people on Loncars staff, not only has he known these men since Octobre 2003, they are also MY people, and only I can decide what my people do. You did not ever know that I supported the rebels. All you have to do is say: 'Ok i'll edit my post accordingly' which you appearantly already did for someone else but cant do for me.
Then there is the fact that you just skipped the tactics that the rebels adopted by saying 'i'll RP my own group of rebels' followed by 'they destroyed the rebel camps'.
RP is an interactive story, not a monologue where you are beat the rebels.
And then there is Scellia who just knows the rebels are trying to ambush him and brushes them aside as if they arent there.
Please tell me, The Mujahideen lured the most modern helicopters of one of the worlds leading superpowers into ambushes and took them out with weapons like RPG7-Vs and SA-7s! Not only do you know the rebels are going to ambush you, you also defeat them aithout suffering casualties, what makes you so superior?

Had Muesilania not asked to post this, I would not have. I am certainly not in the mood for discussions, which you knew if you read my first post. So learn from it or just neglect it, whatever you like, I dont care anymore.

Airspace Above Monisica

"They've split, they're gonna try and make a dash back to their own airspace."

"Wait, that doesn't make sense, aren't they rogue?"

"Yeah, supposedly."

"Relay this back to intel, they need to know, we may need reinforcements."

"Not for these suckers we don't."

The split manuerver had cost the Daggers valuable time, and airspeed. With a top speed at less then half that of the F/X-22 they would never reach Czardian airspace without being fired upon. The ranged closed...

50 miles from Czardian airspace
"Squadron confirms missile lock"
"Weapons free, I repeat weapons free"

30 Miles from Czardian airspace
24 AIMX-120Cs streak out of internal weapons bays, the farthest Daggers receiving three missiles while the closer ones receiving only two. The AIMX-120 was not a super fast missile, staying under hypersonic, but featured manuerability drived from the F/X series. Its improved LADAR head made it all the much harder to break a target lock.

15 Miles from Czardian airspace
The missiles reach the fleeing Daggers.

OOC: If you want to read about the AIMX-120C look in my sig link.

On the Ground
The Bolos continue to roll forward, so far they have yet to make contact with the rogue forces. It seems that the ground operation was to continue as orignally planned, however the Czardian ground forces are to be asked to surrender or die, unless they shoot first and then they just die.

GENERAL MEMO
The situation in Muesilania has rapidly spiralled out of control, and may be facing a hostile invasion. The immediate deployment of 1,500,000 more troops, 300 Mk II Bolos and 100 Mk III Bolos has been approved. Additionally 1,000,000 support personnel and several million tons of supplies have been authorized pending approval from the local government. Airlift operations are to commence immediately, all troops, supplies and tanks must be in place by the end of the month.

Secret Comminique to Muesilanian Government

We have come to believe two things, the first being that your rebel problem will not end here and that a secure base of operations is needed. We request the right to build a full scale military base that we may continue to use after the current conflict is over, this will provide a secure place for our forces that no guerrila can assail. The second is that we believe that the Czardian government may not be as friendly as you would like to think, and that you may face a land invasion from them in the near future. This make it all the more urgent that you allow us this base, which could make the difference between a defeat and a victory.

OOC: Here is what I've proposed on the Draftboard, no one has opposed it so far so I'm going to post it here. If I can successfully argue for it on there boards then this is what I will build, otherwise I will build a regular military base. http://s13.invisionfree.com/The_NS_Draftroom/index.php?showtopic=38

EDIT: Tadjik, I kept on waiting for you to post an attack, that was why all my force did was sweep in slowly. If you wanted the rebels to ambush me you had to post something like, guy dives from underbrush firing an AK at you, or something. If you posted anything like that I completely missed it.

"After the mysterious EMP device cut Colomon off from the outside world for a short time, some daring civil planes took the first of the IVB off Colomian soil. The commander of the 'brigade', Colonel James Peterson had wished to delay the take-off by a few hours to confirm just where his forces would actually be landing. But the hardcore socialists which make up the main bulk of the force weren't prepared to take orders they all disagreed in and headed towards the Calas'h International airport in a huge convoy of trucks; This army is as much a democracy as the state it represents.
In all about 3000 soldiers, or 'militia-men', as their critics have dubbed them, boarded the planes. President Maguire, with Premier Regal, has given the IVB immunity from laws against transporting arms abroad."

The general feeling was happy, but as the planes one-by-one set off for an unknown airfield in the distant country of Muesilania, many wondered if the bulky civil planes would even make it to the ground, given its current violent state."

The colonel has left with his forces in what can only be desribed as a PR move (the officer class isnt popular with the enlisted, understandably). He's heading to Monisica International Airport, Conarthan airbase (North of the capital) and Junoal airbase (about 30 miles east of Monisica, i Believe). If you have reservations about us landing there, tell us quickly and suggest somewhere else to land, otherwise they will stay on their course. If they don't land in Muesilania, i can't imagine how terrible the reaction from the soldiers will be.
The force consists of about 3000 troops, thats 3 battalions and 12 civil planes (1 battalion to 3 planes, 3 planes to each airbase/port). Part of that sniper company the colonel was so modestly boasting about is there too (200 on the planes).
We realise the inconveniance of this but we were literally averting armed rebellion, they are just too damn eager to help you.

"And you're now hearing from a special edition of LCTV-Czardas! Just over four hours ago, ten Czardaian planes were shot down by Scellian missiles as they approached Czardaian airspace, prompting a national outcry. All over Czardas, groups are pouring into the streets to protest. The country is clamoring for war; a large volunteer force of up to 600,000 people is already mobilizing, along with undisclosed numbers of troops and planes. In the governing council, opinion is divided; Foreign Minister Kari Alhoun dismisses the event as 'unavoidable in peacekeeping missions' while Secretary-General Caverra considers it 'a direct and obvious provocation'. Nonetheless, the Council of 400 decided by a 216-181 vote to prepare for a full-scale conflict. Since the start of the Muesilanian conflict three months ago, Czardas's army reserves have been growing with new recruits, and Supreme General Ogden feels that the nation is definitely prepared for war if it must come to that.

Capt. Jourdain reports to the Major in a state of tremendous bewilderment.

"Major, the Scellians have shot down ten of our planes..."

"Yes, but rogue ones, weren't they?"

"No, not all of them," explains Jourdain. "You see, six or seven of our planes followed the rogue ones. Knowing the Czardaian flying tricks, they were better equipped to fight their own former comrades than the Scellians, who anyway seemed to just fire some missiles after them and turn back to the city. Our planes had nearly caught up when Scellian missiles annihilated five of them. Two escaped to return to Czardas and report back, explaining the tremendous fuss."

"Well, perhaps if the Scellians explained they were trying to hit the rogue..."

"No, Sir, that wouldn't work at all!" Jourdain cries. "By now the country's in an uproar, and by the time the Scellians can get through to them, we'd have a million and a half soldiers, or more, marching down into Muesilania, or even Scellia. A war of that magnitude would be incredibly damaging to the international community."

"It would be a calamity!" exclaims the Major. "What can we do to stop it?"

Before Jourdain can answer, another call comes in on the comlink. "Sir, we're having a spot of trouble outside the sector."

"What sort of trouble?"

"Well, sir, the Scellians can't tell us from the rebel Czardaians, and...it looks mighty like their tanks are getting into attack formation..."

The Major looks at Jourdain, then at the comm, and then he begins to issue orders to the troops he still has left.

"Jourdain, you go out there with a flag of truce. Everyone else, get to the defensive positions. Make sure all our mines and trapped buildings are ready."

Soldiers throughout the occupied area scramble to fulfill his commands. The Captain walks out towards the street, bearing the white flag with the symbol of the UN on it.

Monisica International Airport

Troops continue to pour in, and supplies with them along with SAM sites and more tanks. Waves of massive cargo planes are escorted in by dozens of squadrons of F/X-22s, F/X-35s and B/X-2s. A constant CAP of 100 F/X-22s is on constant alert around the airport, with 200 more on stand by. The for the last several days of fighting engineers had been expanding the airport more then three fold with ten times the hanger space, already a massive area being cordoned off and being bulldozed. Last estimate, it was only an estimate because new fighters and bombers were arriving every minute, was 1,200 F/X-22s and 2,400 F/X-35s. The bomber contigent was at 200 B/X-2s and the entire area was blanketed in LADAR emmissions from SAM sites and AWACs aircraft.

"It poses no threat sir."

"Have our MS-1As reported any mines ahead of us?"

"It has scouted for the next 200m, and reports no ground based mines."

"Good then, Raven pull forward and activate your PA system"

The ground crunches under the treads of the 200 ton behemoth as it pulls slowly toward Jourdain. With an eletronic buzz the PA system activates,
"This is the Scellian Bolo Mk II R.V.N, identify yourself and to what side you belong in this conflict."

Reading the latest reports, Dr Edwards cringed. The conflict was turning the other way for Muesliania, with the rogue Czardaian troops causing a real threat. After a great deal of thinking at his desk, he decided the best course of action would be to help the civilian population of the capital still, but to also help any critically-wounded impoirtant military personnel (the hospitals were too small for the incredible numbers provided). He composed a letter:
TO: All allies in Muesilanian conflict
Greetings,
Our interim medical hospitals are prepared to start accepting critically-injured men of a high enough ranking to make it on the whole still beneficial mostly to the civilian population. We will also take large numbers (a few thousand) of injured civilians from a major battlesite in or outside the city; just fly them to our camps to the south of Monisica, where our well-educated team of 800 medics will deliver medical treatment

He does, and allows the Bolos entry to the area.

Almost at the same time firing—from a small force of rebel Czardaians left behind while the rest of the army heads for the road companies—erupts from the windows along the road, aiming to disable, or even destroy the Bolos, while hand grenades, thrown from an impossible-to-miss distance, throw up huge explosions in the center of the road.

As the barrage continues, Jourdain stands helplessly by the gate, only now beginning to realize what is going on.

"The Tilookans have done a pretty good job of confusing the allies. The Czardian public opinion appears to be shifting into our favor, and their military is now actively fighting on our behalf. We're trying to get in touch with their rebel General now.
For the most part we've given up a lot of popular militia. After losing a lot of good troops in the seige on the capital, we moved a our remaining forces into hiding. With the Czardian shift, I think we're ready to begin a counter-attack."

The handful of missiles the rebels throw are intercepted by the Mk IIIs infinite repeaters, blowing up in mid air amongst a veritable hail of bullet chards. The Mk III has never meant to be able to be engaged by a less then a hundred infantry, at once. The few hand grenades that impact the hull of the massive tank put long burn marks into the hull, but do no real damage, the Bolo doesn't even notive them. Then it is the Bolos turn to fire back, the AI that controls the movement and firing system of the tank does a devastating job. Switching from shotgun style to DU antimaterial rounds the infinite repeaters ringing the Bolo going into action spraying the windows around the area with hundred of rounds in a few seconds. However the most impressive is the two 120 ETC guns, each on an individual turret, which swing and engage the buildings on each side. Each gun spits out a HE rounds into the structure of the building, causing entire faces nearest to the Bolo to collapse into the street.

The dust settles, the rebels dead of wounded, unfortunately Jourdain was among the dead. The Bolos continue on.

Jonoal Airbase:
As the Colonel's plane circled to land, his would be the 2nd of the 3, he watched with satisfied jealousy at the column of Czardan tanks moving towards the airbase from the west road, away from the capital. He could vaguely make out some flags attached to the back of one, but didnt have time to think as the plane turned away. One thing was sure, he thought 30 seconds later, it wasn't an allied flag.
Fifteen seconds after the flag was out of view, loud profuse swearing succeeded an even louder bang, not the bang you hear when you hit the runway and the brakes are slammed on, and certainly not the bang you want to hear in a plane.
Luckily for him it wasn't his plane that was hit, it was the 1st one, which was on the runway and screaching to its halt when the left wing was hit by a Czardan rebel tank shell. The fuel inside the wing caught fire instantly.
The inner most engine on the left wing was detached, causing the right wing to drop with the weight in-balance. The back left wheels came into contact with the said engine, the plane leaving the wheels behind as its right wing cracked and bent while its left wing, ablaze, exploded.
The pilot was dead and the co-pilot wounded. Anyone unlucky to be sitting next to the left wing was on fire, and those around them gutted with flying shrapnel.
As the plane finally stopped, the fusilage on its side with flames dancing around its left stump, shrapnel all over the runway, the survivors inside escaped through the doors on the right, the side away from the tanks, and ran off to the ditch on the side of the runway. About 120 had made it out of the plane and to a safe distance before a final explosion tore the fusilage apart. The survivors hid for cover and set up the 5 Heavy MG's they'd taken out of the plane with them.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The 2nd plane aborted landing immediately and headed staright for cloud cover. The 3rd plane, piloted by Billy 'Mad-Dog' Strout, previously of the Colomian Air force, continued on its run. The plane was a big target and hard to maneover, but it was heavy and fast and he was the best damn pilot to fly it. So, naturally, he skimmed the tank-covered runway at god-knows-what-speed at around about 8-10ft off the ground, the turret of a slow or stationary tank being no match for the wings and fusilage of a very speedy 300 ton airliner. But, not all went well (quite pissing obviously), the airliner lost all its wheels (To be found occupying three seperate tanks) and had to pull up before landing in some farmer's field's a few miles away, the engine-blades wrecked by what looked like body-parts and metal.

The fight was still on, and bewildered rebels regained their cool to carry on the fight now ensuing with the low-on-ammo company of survivors from the first plane.

The second plane's battalion, after locking the pilot in the cargo-hold, established a perimeter of plane seats and anything spare they had brought with them. Not knowing where they were or who had just done what to their plane.

The Colonel's plane went to make an emergency landing at MIA, its fuel reserves being just enough to do the job.

LCTV-Czardas

"The situation in Muesilania is rapidly escalating. Scellian forces have killed a number of Czardaian soldiers in the occupied sectors, and seem to be firing indiscriminately on rogue and loyal troops. In addition, they have apparently attacked and destroyed several hospitals, claiming that they were 'rebel bases'. The volunteer force has swelled in numbers approaching 1 million and is preparing to march on Muesilania in order to aid the rebel cause and attack the Scellians, along with an undisclosed number of troops under General Nathaniel Leodamas. Meanwhile, large numbers of Czardaian planes, including most of its reserve stock, are preparing for battle. ([ooc:] My wiki page on my army is no longer accurate and needs to be updated.)

"Air Marshal Karlsen has determined that some changes have been made in the Dagger design, including streamlining of the wings and larger, more powerful engines, enabling them to fly at faster speeds approaching 1500 mi/h. He states that these planes may be used in combat if it must come to that.

"Now we'll hear a special address from President Dimovilà, delivered just a few hours ago, Czardas time."

The face of Czardas's President appears on the screen: grave and commanding, he begins to speak.

"Peoples of the world, I speak to you today concerning a grave calamity. The Muesilanian revolt has become an excuse for terrible killing and destruction in Monisica. An army sent from Scellia is mindlessly destroying everything in its path, including loyal Czardaian troops and medical facilites. Under the guise of helping Muesilania quell this revolt, they are taking this as an opportunity to kill hundreds for their own ends -- whatever those might be.

"Muesilania, we would like to warn you against Scellia. You welcome them as saviors, but they may turn against you when they have finished with the rebels, and take over the smaller Muesilania instead. I see no other reason for them to move as many as 1.5 million troops into Muesilania, against a rebel force numbering little more than ten thousand.

"As for Scellia itself, we are warning the Scellian people now. Evidence discovered by Czardaian troops after the facilities were destroyed points with little doubt to them being medical facilites housing injured and sick civillians. In addition, it is difficult for Scellia to explain the deaths of over 200 loyal Czardaian forces in battles around the city, or directly firing upon loyal Czardaians even after making an agreement not to.

"Scellia, we urge you to try peace talks with the rebels rather than killing them. If more atrocities of this type occur, we shall be forced to declare war upon you. That will not be pleasant for anyone, especially not you and your soldiers. Once again we urge you to consider this. We are only seeking peace.

"Have a nice day."

OOC: The read friggin info about the Mk III or don't talk about it, it weighs 300 tons and has almost as much armor as the combined weight of 2 M1A2 MBT. It also costs nearly $30,000,000 which is less then a lot of non stealth aircraft, essentially nothing but a concerted attack or another similar sized tank can stop it. So read the info before you mindlessly spout of random nonsense about stuff you obviously haven't taken the time to research.

So far no ones has RPed any resistance besides a minor attack on one Bolo, so if you want to complain about me not facing anything go out and RP it instead of whining about it. I built an army to another nation, and guerrillas can't fight toe to toe with it, the sooner as they recognize this the better it will be when it comes to RPing my losses. Heck, you might even ignore the Bolos and attack the infantry which doesn't have the same armor or protection.

1. Planes drop bombs on the Bolos: insanely effective SAM batteries take them out before they can do any real damage.
2. Bolo is directly attacked with missiles and grenades: Bolo takes no damage (including to its tracks or whatever it uses to propel itself)
3. A *socially liberal* society is exposed to claims that its government is committing war crimes: Their government shows them a video of the "truth" and *nobody* seems to have any further issue, even though in these sorts of societies war is generally hard for the government to justify unless they or their allies are directly attacked.
So, so far two military attacks and one propaganda attack yield no effect.
Now, to explain the lack of any kind of counter-attack from the rebels, I earlier had two members of the mercenary group explain that they had been sacrificing what little popular militia units they had available outside of the capital, while taking heavy losses inside the capital (resulting in their moving their units into hiding).
So, hey, guess it's time for the typical theocratic response to overwhelming, unneccessary democratic warfare.

So, hey, guess it's time for the typical theocratic response to overwhelming, unneccessary democratic warfare.

1. The SAMs kept the planes at ~60,000 ft, suitable for area bombardment from heavy bombers but not tank busting. So while they may have expended a lot of munitions they were fairly inaccurate because of the height. If they were lower to the ground then the hit rate would increase dramatically, but the would be vulnerable to the missiles of the Bolos.

2. While the rebels did attack they did not do so if large numbers, and tanks treads are fairly vulnerable but they are armored to prevent the situation you described. It will be armored up equally to the rest of the tank, so even a few grenades on the treads won't stop it. Plus the grenades were coming out windows, meaning that they were being thrown down and not likely to hit a tread directly.

3. The military attacks I just explained, and in general if a government can come up with solid proof against it then the people will believe them over someone else. It is when there isn't that solid proof that people begin to wonder, and even then it would be more likely that the people would want to withdraw from the war then support the rebels. Essentially the propaganda was poorly done when it came to targeting my people, however it would be effective for people like the Czardians.

4. I'm not blaming you for the rebels not attacking, I'm just saying that I've taken little to no loss because the rebels haven't exerted an effort yet.

Yes, solely based on the fact that 3000 of my soldiers have switched sides. OOC: You've opted not to hear the kernel of my argument. The propaganda was unimportant...in a society like yours there will *always* be protests against war because there are people who just plain believe that war is wrong, no matter the reason
I understand what you're trying to say, but living in the US, I know intimately that "solid proof" is ultimately unimportant in terms of public opinion. The public will opt to ignore the things that disagree with their understanding of the "truth."
The Czardian propaganda was a totally different animal. I actually have previously-existing diplomatic ties with them, so there were Tilookans living there.

At any rate, we're not talking about religious fanatics with these rebels; we're talking about mercenaries. I'm sure by this time they realize they can't fight an organized military of this type, so I don't see them sticking around. With Lionel safe in Tilooka, I think it's safe to say that this rebellion is over. The only substantial thing I could do at this point is have the Patriotic Liberation Front start detonating things in Scellia.

OOC: Tilooka, the thing is is that I'm a Communistic Republic(If you don't think it'll work it does, NS game mechanics says it does) that doesn't have a lot of the corruption found in the US. The education system us much better, and the informational system avalible are much greater too combined with the knowledge to use them. While you are right that there will always be a fringe group in any endevour the vast, and I mean vast, majority of people will support something like a justified war. In the US the war in Iraq is very unpopular, yet there aren't home grown terrorists popping up all over the place, so essentially it is realistic to have little to no response to foreign propaganda that is contradicted by verfiable evidence presented by your own government. The protest I mentioned was a bit larger then 100 or so people getting together and wandering around with signs, which was why it was worth mentioning.

At the time I started to mobilize the troops in Scellia I was hearing ominous things out of your country where a growing number of people were starting to support the rebels. Around that time too there were the friendly fire incidents with the aircraft so that made your people angry, my government had no choice but to start flying in troops when you started activating troops within yur own nation.

Whee, back to IC posts now!!!

"Today Scellia has issued a demand to the government of Czardas for apologies for recent statements they have made to the press about human rights infractions. In several instances even going so far as to use satellite imagery to disprove Czardian claims, however this is the exception rather then the rule as most prove to the contrary was taken from gun camera footage. Credible sources say that it is unlikely the images have been altered, but that in the high tech world of today such alteration might be possible. The government said that as a gesture of goodwill it would extend the chance for the rebels to surrender unconditionally and be handed over to the local government. No other terms will be accepted."

"In other news security around military installations, especially the massive PDCs, has been tightened with both air and ground travel being halted in some areas. Military officials assure us that this is only until the situation with Czardas blows over, however a general mobilization of active duty troops in underway along with their support personnel. No National Guard units have been called in, nor is any draft being planned."

Monisica
To give the rebels time to surrender as per the request of the Czardian government the Bolo forces within the city have pulled back to a single section of the city. A large school has been converted into a tank park where the Bolos are getting rearmed and gassed up. So far two Mk II Bolos have been lost, one loosing a track to a volley of RPGs and one when a mined building collapsed on it and it was unable to free itself before being swarmed under. Several other tanks showed signs of combat, dents in armor and black scars from single munitions.

"In response to Scellian demands, interviews with Czardaian eyewitnesses revealed that charred and burnt medical equipment in the ruins of several buildings in Monisica, along with dead bodies that appeared to have been operated on recently, were among the evidence that proved Scellian forces had destroyed medical facilities. Furthermore, survivors of the attacks -- numbering up to 200 -- claimed that the buildings had, in fact, served as hospitals or medical facilities.

"Major Alvare Sandier, leader of the Czardaian troops in Muesilania, stated today that attempting to convince the rebels to surrender would be pointless. He also noted that if Czardas were to declare war on Scellia, he would not fight on Czardas's side. Sandier currently commands a total of 14,000 Czardaian troops now in Monisica, not counting the rebels; however, as this is only a fraction of the full Czardaian army, his resistance seems unimportant.

"In other news, the rebels have managed to capture and destroy the primary building of the toll company in downtown Monisica. It was detonated using low-quality incendiary missiles, killing over 700, including 400 civilians. James LaFleur, leader of the rebels, has stated that these deaths are regrettable but necessary in the path to true equality. He has called on the Czardaian army to help him defeat the 'capitalist oppressors' in Muesilania, Scellia, and beyond.

"Military operations in Czardas are currently remaining at a standby, but Foreign Minister Alhoun has officially severed diplomatic ties between Czardas and Scellia. A spokesperson for the Foreign Office did not comment on this action, but historically it has been the last step before hostilities commence.

"Czardas has also been setting up defense lines along its borders, in order to take all necessary precautions.

"With new evidence surfacing about hospitals and Scellian involvement civilians are confused, most have seen the evidence from gun camera footage, however the government has not taken any stance on the issue of where or not the building were hospitals. A general sense of "don't use a hospital as a bunker" has evolved, especially after the news of rebel atrocities that far exceeded those supposed perpetuated by the Scellian forces."

"The majority of the Scellian fleet, featuring over 1,000 assorted ships of cruiser size or greater, has left port today. While the government hasn't stated specifically it has been inferred from inside sources that the force will be within 1 days sail of Czardian ports(I'm assuming that you have ports, if you are landlocked please disregard). The brave sailors of the fleet carry with them nearly 1 million CSA soldiers, and a vast store of munitions and supplies."

"The government has also annouced construction on the first foreign PDC, while the local government has been less then forthcoming about permission to build a permenant structure the military feels that it is well worth the risk to have a PDC within close range of the traitorous nation of Czardas. Recently Czardas has completely severed diplomatic relations in what most assume to be preparation for war, the military assumes a sneak attack. The new PDC, to be named PDC Muesilania in honor of the host nation, will cost 1.2 trillion dollars and be completed in 2 months. The 50% greater cost is due to the unusual rush the military has to take to complete it in a fraction of the time it normally takes."

"At the site of the new PDC Scellia now has over 1,000,000 combat ready troops and 500,000 support personnel. Once completed the PDC will feature over 5,000 aircraft and 1,000 Bolos, a proposed 20/80 mix of Mk III and Mk II Bolos. This will represent the largest foreign investment Scellia has ever undertaken, though this force is projected to reduce in size once the current conflict is over."

"In Monisica the rebels have refused to surrender, and while Bolos are effective in regular combat they are much less so in urban warfare. The current Bolo forces have withdrawn and the 5 Infantry divisions are moving in, the fighting is supposed to be fierce but there are few rebels within the city."

OOC: Czardas, you can decide my losses but remember that these are highly trained troops using much more advanced armor and system then the rebels. I trust you to keep it reasonable. ;)

Tilooka: "Humanitarian" forces have requested (but not been granted) access to the country. Currently harboring Lionel Porosevec and in heavy propaganda mode.
Czardas: Due to their unique political make-up, many of their forces have joined the rebel cause and are attacking the toll locations. Public opinion is shifting to the rebel side due to Tilookan agitators.
Porosevec forces: Mostly in hiding right now, preparing military action. Most of the casualties so far have been popular militia (read: Scellia has been mercilessly killing armed civilians).

[ooc:] The Scellia vs. Czardas conflict should be a new thread, as it no longer deals with the rebellion (especially considering your ships vs. my new naval defense lines). I'll start it now with my IC post as relates to the conflict.

[ic/rebellion:]

Captain LaFleur smiles slightly and glances at his losses in a recent string of conflicts throughout the city. About 100 Scellian troops appear to have been killed, with the rebels losing just under three times that amount. He has approximately 4,500 fighters still under his command; about 2000 of these are the better-trained and -equipped Czardaian troops and the rest are Porosevecs or mercenaries. What worries him is the nature of the impending conflict between Czardas and Scellia, which has quickly transferred a minor regional incident into an international conflict, with nations lining up on both sides. Muesilania will probably support Scellia, with Tilooka supporting Czardas. LaFleur has nearly accomplished his object. There are only six tollgates remaining in the city. When the last one is destroyed, he will begin to consider surrendering.

He sends orders to his men: "Strike force, target Tollgates 57 and 59, with tank cover, then go on to 40. Mercenary forces, I'm counting on you to take out 44."

All around the city, more strike teams, some as small as 50 men and a single tank, head for the tollgates which Muesilanian fighters are defending.

Major Alvare Sandier reads the message himself several times, then issues his orders.

"We're to report to the Scellian headquarters at once. In order to prevent the deaths of any more loyal troops, they're outfitting us with uniforms and tags. We'll basically be fighting as part of the Scellian army, but loyal to Czardas."

"I see," says one of his Captains with deep distaste. "You know that Scellia is threatening war against Czardas, right?"

Sandier fixes the Captain with a cold stare. "I'll excuse your insubordination this time, and remember while we're here in Monisica, we're allied with Scellia, no matter what happens to the rest of Czardas. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir."

"All right. We're going. I'll take half the force first and leave the other half to guard the sector. Then we switch."

In a stream of jeeps, tanks, and on foot, the Czardaian soldiers -- seven thousand in all -- set out for the Scellian command.

----------------------

Rebel headquarters. The basement of a building in Monisica

A number of Czardaian troops and mercenary and rebel leaders sit around a long table, or rather along one side of it. At the other side, in a swiveling chair, is the interim rebel leader, Capt. James LaFleur. LaFleur is a tall and hawklike man with thinning iron-grey hair, deep-set eyes, and a stern expression. He is not known to be a kindly man, and is rumored to have fits of insanity and fanaticism.

"We've intercepted an order broadcast throughout Monisica to all Czardaian troops," explains LaFleur. "All Czardaian soldiers are to be equipped with Scellian uniforms and tags, and all others are to be killed. It means the end of what we've relied on for so long to keep us going."

"Yes...Commander," says one of the rebel troops.

"With this we can no longer succeed in such endeavors as destroying the last tollgate. We have managed to get rid of all but one, in the southwestern corner of the city, where over 1,000 Scellians are stationed. Our mission is basically accomplished. Muesilania is a shambles and its oppressive taxes and tolls gone.

"However, we need a way to escape from Monisica. Therefore, I've determined that I and...say 50 more of my troops will get Scellian uniforms as though we were orthodox Czardaian troops, and then 'borrow' some of their transport helicopters and fly the rest out of here, to a safe spot like Czardas. The Government there won't do a thing to stop us from staying wherever we want. It's too unwieldly and disorganized."

"But Commander, won't they recognize and apprehend you?...Or something?"

"No, Les, they will not. The Scellians have never met me and do not know what I look like. The latest army ID I have is a picture from sixteen years ago. Even Czardas has nothing more recent. I have been preparing for this revolt all my service."

"But sir...how did you know that you would need to do this?"

LaFleur erupts in sudden anger. "Fool! I always knew oppression and taxation were wrong! My family was always poor, and made poorer by Czardas's high taxes. I knew that my duty would be to end all taxation and communist oppression, and the only way to do that would be to destroy it! Yes, destroy it all! I will never rest until every shred of this corrupt larceny in the world has been destroyed forever!"

His subordinates look at each other with a look of deep significance. It is as they have always suspected. LaFleur is going insane.

LaFleur continues. "When we have finished with Muesilania we shall raise another army to get rid of tax in Czardas. Then we can go on to the allies of Czardas, and Scellia itself, and... soon a glorious future of freedom awaits us! Think of it, my warriors!"

LaFleur's voice becomes dreamy and finally he melts into silence. The men watch him go through a door to where his fifty troops are.

The first reaction is silence. Then a man named Les says, "He's mad. That's all there is to it. Stark raving mad."

"We'll all die because of his insane, idealist dream," adds another member of LaFleur's high command.

"He doesn't realize how he's toying with the fates of nations. The futures of Czardas, of Scellia, of Muesilania all depend on his whim. We have to stop him, somehow," says Derrick Katagar, second-in-command.

"And how?" asks Les.

The best general in the armed forces by far, said many people in his past, some would have said he was past his best though. He was a first-rate soldier until he was unit was pinned down by heavy fire. He offered himself as a sacrifice to save the group, and was shot in the shoulder, effectively ending his career. He became a general, always wanting to get out on the battlefield, and sometimes did.

He climbed out of his jeep and approached, what he saw as, the mess of men before him. "OI!" They all looked around, and carried on with what they were doing, slowly getting into order as one man stepped forwards. "OI!" He pulled out his pistol and shot at the feet of one man, missing his foot by no more than 10cm. Everybody froze.

Even though they were not his men, by now he expected discipline and respect for any general who they saw. "I suggest whoever is in charge of these men gets them in order! Then you can receive directions." He threw a map on the ground, and got back into his jeep. He talked to the driver for a little while and sat back. The driver accelerated straight at the men. He braked sharply, stopping not too far from them, reversed through 180 degrees, and sped off.

The map showed the airbase position, about six miles south east.

The commander of the company, having been to stunned to speak, stooped down to pick up the map. After getting his bearings, he ordered the men to form up, and went to talk to the other company commanders. Minutes later, they were moving out, following the map. 2 Squadrons of Dragoons were following behind, and two more squadrons of tankers were up front.

Why? Tilooka is the nation sheltering them. LaFleur is an outlaw in Czardas for insubordination, vandalism, and armed rebellion (actually, armed rebellion is legal in peacetime, but in Yellow Alert or higher it's outlawed). I'd be just as glad to have him turned over as you would.

The remnants of The IVB are struggling to find quite where the hell they are meant to be. It even looks as if their inter-battalion contact has been broken down completely!
_ _ _ _ _
The 1st Battalion is in MIA, sneaking in and out past the Scellians - who seem to be making it into a huge fort, despite it being a civilian airport - to go and patrol the streets. Apparently there's a cease-fire in effect for a while, but from the revolution not more then a decade ago, these men know that cease-fires are always broken by the rebels, it's just a case of being alert.

_ _ _ _ _
The 2nd Battalion has headed south and set up base around the south-east of the city, where intel says the rebels main stronghold is. The battalion regularly goes in to fight skirmishes, 9 casualties so far, but for some reason the rebels are holding back... waiting for something.

_ _ _ _ _
The 3rd battalion is all over the place. Alpha Company is all but wiped out following the runway incident. Beta Company was diverted to MIA and nearly landed on a few fighter planes it had so little fuel. Having narrowly escaped fire from the ground all crew are under arrest for a week to clear their names.
Delta company appears to be doing well on paper: 8 tanks and almost 40 rebel soldiers neutralised but only 1 casualty. In reality the company has no surviving radio, doesnt know where they are and doesnt have a command HQ. The one casualty was a poor lad who'd been mistaken for a rebel by a local farmer whilst he was looking for a toilet. Incidentally, one of those 40 rebels happens to be a shotgun-toting farmer. The plane crash remarkably killed no one and the unassembled motorbikes and jeeps in the cargo-hold were fine,
They still do not know were the capital is, given that they were supposed to set up base in the airbase not 3 miles away in whatever-direction they ended up, next to a wrecked plane.
At the moment the company heads west hoping to eventually find the city, the airbase or lots of trucks with allied allegiance.

Back in Colomon, Army squads are rapidly being deployed to go in and find the IVB, and get them out before full scale war erupts over Muesilanian ground between the Scellians and the Czardanians

The government of Tilooka is not aware of the current locations of Porosevec or LaFleur. We will immediately organize a man-hunt on Tilookan soil to determine if they are hiding among our people.

Temporary base near the Czardaian border with Muesilania; Muesilanian soil. Mountainous terrain.

Major Alvare Sandier and what is left of his initial 7,000 troops have camped here, in the mountains. For many weeks, unable to enter Czardas or return to Monisica, with the rebellion and dissent and anger against Scellian forces growing in the mountainous north, Sandier and his troops have led stealth missions against the rebels, capturing or killing large numbers. Sandier sits in his tent now, going over lists of figures and maps on his desk. The screen across from him, in his tent, flickers into life; the face of Lt.-Gen. Arachinov, his direct superior, appears on screen. Arachinov doesn't look all too happy.

"Sandier, we've been trying to contact you for ages. What happened to you?"

"We left Monisica, sir. I know we were disobeying orders, but it was either that or being forced into the Scellian army."

"Ah...I see." Arachinov nods. "With all that has been happening, you should know."

Sandier looks astounded; he has heard nothing of recent events. "What has been going on lately, sir?" asks Sandier.

"Nothing good. For the past several weeks we've been receiving reports of vast numbers of Scellian soldiers, Bolos, and planes mobilizing around Monisica, as well as a huge fleet headed for Czardas. Stung by this action, Czardas has fortified the south and the coast to a great extent, leaving most of the inland areas unprotected except by the army. General Leodamas has taken the volunteer force of 1 million Czardaian men and women south for a concerted training session, while Generals Longleaf and Shaestri have been placed in command of Czardas's 2.7 million soldiers, not to mention large numbers of tanks and anti-missile equipment. The air force has mobilized almost 5,000 planes, and another thousand are to be finished within less than a week. And what's more, the latest news states that Czardas has declared war following a missile strike against the coast." Sandier explains the situation briefly.

"Sir, with the Scellian's advanced equipment and training, what is the likelihood of victory?"

"Very low," says Arachinov. "With another missile strike, they could potentially destroy most of the coast. I don't see how Czardas managed to defend its coast against the missiles without completely crippling the economy in the first place. And their 2 million soldiers headed for the south, well—despite traps, machine gun nests, and various local militias, I'm sure the majority of them could make it into Czardas unscathed."

"I see... We'd be called on to defend Czardas, I suppose?"

"No, I think Central Command's forgotten all about you. Besides, Pantycellen and The Silver Sky have already mentioned that they wish to aid Czardas, so at least we'll have allies."

"I seem to have heard of at least Pantycellen," muses Sandier. "Didn't they try to offer aid during the Muesilanian revolt?"

"Yes," says Arachinov. "Oh—do the Scellians know you're here? Their armies are apparently approaching the mountains now."

"If they do, sir, they haven't given any sign."

"Good. I'd prefer that you stay quiet."

"All right."

"Over." The screen flickers to black.

Sandier is left to sit and think.

Greetings under the Light of God, the Exaulted Heinrich Sebastien sends regards.
The nation of Scellia is hereby declared an enemy of the Faith, and of man. Their crimes are as follows:
* Ruthless killing of civilians, and destruction of critical civilian support infrastructures such as hospitals and transportation centers.
* Unprovoked declaration of war against a nation in turmoil.
Furthermore, the moral corruption and bankruptcy of the peoples of that nation has been shown time and time again by their inability to confront the horrors perpetuated by their own government. As a result, the Scellian people are also declared enemies of the Faith, and of man.

(AP) -- Scellia
This morning an unregistered aircraft was shot down as it entered the airspace around the nation of Scellia. Investigation of the crash site has revealed traces of Uranium, leading to the speculation that the aircraft may have been carrying components required to build a detonatable nuclear warhead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dusk begins to set in a small, country-side house in the rural city of Umber, Tilooka. Porosevec and LaFleur sit at a table on the front porch discussing alternatives, when a jeep approaches. Edgar Hauer, Tilookan Minster of Defense steps out and greets them.
Hauer: "Good news. We expected that, after the war, many of the allies would attempt to put pressure on Tilooka to turn the both of you over. However, a war has broken out between Scellia and Czardas, and many of the allies appear to be drawing up battle lines over that conflict."
Porosevec: "Excellent. With the allies now committing their forces to fight one another on land outside of Muesilania, I should now be able to return home and liberate the people."
Hauer: "I don't think the time is yet right for that. What rebel forces you had are shattered, and the people themselves appear to be tired of fighting. While we certainly won't stop you from returning home any time you like, we would recommend against it.
Scellia has been declared an enemy of the Faith. That means that, right now, the Patriotic Liberation Front is moving to take action against them on both their own and foreign soil. Both of you may actually be of best use if you were to join the PLF. Your presence there would bolster morale given your heroic efforts during the Muesilanian rebellion.
LaFleur, your nation is currently under attack. Given that your nation's decisions are swayed by public opinion, if you distinguish yourself as a member of the PLF taking action against Scellia, you may be able to obtain a pardon and return home.
In your case, Porosevec, we'll need to establish you as a popular hero before you obtain any credibility with your countrymen and can return home to confront the corrupt government there."
Porosevec: "Terrorist action? What exactly is planned."
Hauer: "Well, the PLF is not a part of the Tilookan government, so I can't tell you for sure. In fact, if you choose to join the PLF, no government official in Tilooka will be able to speak to or even acknowledge you. The PLF is independantly funded, but we sometimes manage to provide them with things they need.
They recently 'stole' the components needed for three small-payload nuclear warheads from an arms manufacturing facility. My understanding is that one of those warheads was destroyed as they attempted to move it onto Scellian soil by air."
Southern Czardas.
The bunker is nearly invisible from outside. Built directly into an overhanging cliff, it has been covered with lichens and plants, making it appear almost as part of the precipice. It extends for a long way and has enough room inside for a number of people to live comfortably. It is occupied by no more than twenty soldiers or so.
Lt. Petroi Horan, the commander of the small group, smiles to himself as he listens to a song on the radio. One of his old favorites, a folk tune from his native north. He begins to hum along with the tune, imagining it being played at a village gathering in a small town like his. He hopes that he'll be able to see his home town again, some day. As he thinks, the music dies out abruptly to be replaced with a special announcement.
"The Concordance is now at war with Scellia. The south is declared a state of emergency and all defensive positions are to be assumed at once. I repeat, all defensive positions. If you must leave the bunker, do not stay out for longer than one-half of an hour, or an hour to forage for provisions. That is all."
Horan starts up and begins issuing orders. All around the southern end of Czardas, these tiny forces and machine-gun nests are mobilizing, ready for action.
Scores of these bunkers, scattered and hidden all along the southern corner of Czardas, form just part of the defense against the advancing Scellian forces. The rest relies either on nature -- trenches filled with sharp stakes, holes and pits, deep impassable canyons, wild rushing rivers -- or on mankind: the mountaintop missile launchers and temporary airbases, and of course the minefields. The probable route of the Scellian forces has been littered with mines and booby-trapped missiles.
Czardas is ready. At least in part.
We would request that allow us to land an MTF unit on your soil. This will consist of one small unit of armed men, one intell team, and equipment. We will be happy to establish a base of operations wherever you think it best. We will begin an attempt to find Porosevec and LaFleur given your permission.
The said convicts will be brought to justice, tried under Muesilanian law (this is where said crimes were commited), and sentenced accordingly. They will be given the same rights as the next criminal.
Should you accept, we ask that you give our intell teams free reign and allow the units when convicts are found to carry out their duty accordingly.
Talking of new threads, there will if you accept Tilooka, be one for the MTF operation. There will then be a public trial.
I don't want to commit either of the two to joining the PLF, but I *do* think that's their best option. Czardas, I think LaFleur joining should be left up to you, but I actually don't think that Porosevec would join unless he could just sit around and tell others what to do. :)
