Dreadfire declares Praetonia and Hogsweat cowards; claims victory

I am beginning to grow bored of this....my Sentinels grow lazy as they wait...while other Warchiefs fend off the aggressors on the east side. I am tempted to join them...

Things had been calm inside the AMF/Panteran Straight, where thousands of ships waited the arrival of the self proclaimed 'incinvible' fleets of Praetonia and Hogsweat. Dreadfire had grown impatient for their arrival as the weeks turned into months, and finally one warm Thursday he decided they were not coming. Perhaps I can light a fire under their ass.... Damien thought to himself, an evil smile crossing his face as he plotted.

~From the desk of Lord Damien the Destroyer, Supreme Warlord of the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek~

It has been many, many moons since the craven dogs of Praetonia and Hogsweat declared their 'war of righteousness' upon Automagfreek. For months now we have awaited their coming in the face of their guaranty....a guaranty that they will destroy the Excessively Armed Empire and leave it nothing more than a memory.

For months now their 'mighty' fleets have cowered at the edge of our territory, their promise not acted upon. I say to them now, where are your holy soldiers that will cleanse my Empire? Where are your knights that will sack my dominion and leave it crippled? Truth be told, they are not coming. The fleets of Hogsweat tasted but a small serving of our military might when their fleets were forced to retreat under heavy shore fire. Truely the Devil's Fingers have struck fear into their hearts, and that is not even the beginning of the Hell I can unleash.

Many dragons have tried to lay siege to my kingdom, and all have suffered the same fate. As we speak, fleets from Dracun Imperium, Findan, and other nations are actively dying in my waters. But where are the ships of Praetonia and Hogsweat? Nowhere to be found.

Therefore I declare the leaders of both Praetonia and Hogsweat cowards. For months they have had a perfect opportunity to destroy me and Automagfreek itself, but it is fear that has kept them at bay. Surely by now I would have expected hundreds of burning Praetonian and Hogsweatian ships in my waters, but not so much as a recon element has been dispatched.

Now, I know what some of you will say: Well Dreadfire, why don't you attack them?

The answer is simple: every day practically another nation rises up to test their strength against the Excessively Armed Empire, and it is my duty to my people to protect them at all costs. A sizable coalition it is indeed, but without a doubt if they ever gain their courage and advance their 'mighty' and 'superior' ships will be reduced to scrap.

So here I sit, waiting for the 'invincible' fleets of Praetonia and Hogsweat. But it has dawned on me that they are not coming. Therefore, I declare victory over the heathen dogs of Praetonia and Hogsweat. Should they wish to contest this declaration, they are welcome to try. But until I see forward movement my declaration will hold true.

I will now turn my attention to the rest of the cannon fodder approaching my land, and the world will watch as they are dashed to pieces in a hail of hellfire and brimstone.

OOC: Hopefully this can help jump-start this war, because I have invested too much time and effort to simply have this fade away. I understand people have personal lives, but I myself work 50 hours a week full time and also work a part time job, yet I still find time to post.

Communication, guys. If you cannot post for awhile, let me know so I'm not left totally in the dark.

If you would like to continue an OOC discussion, please post here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=439271). Thank you.

Ah look who's talking now? Dreadfire speaks only when he feels confident and when death is not at his door. However it is no longer there, for too long Praetonian and Hogsweat's Fleets have laid dormant in the waters bordering AMF. This must change! If we are to defeat such an enemy then we must band together and fight him with our combined power. We cannot fight him alone as hard as it is to admit.

Rise up to your call; do not make yourselves worthy of the name coward. You called him out, many nations came to your defense and now all you are going to do is sit there and wait for him? No, things must change and things must change now. I will not allow such "world powers" to disgrace the title.

My forces are being sent to die in AMF and they will not die in vain I will have you know. Do not let those that have already died for no reason. Give your men and women something to fight for God dammit, give them worth. Do not let AMF defenses scare you away, do not let the reputation inspire fear in your soldiers.

Rise up to fight an enemy worth the battle. He may not be a world danger to us but he is to your beliefs are you going to allow the name of democracy to become tarnished? I rather hope not! Now rise up for your country, your beliefs and the future of your country's children.

We ask you to answer your call now, for if you don't then all is lost and we are all dammed.

[OOC: Not sure if this should go in the main war thread or here, but I'll post it here for continuity of the thread.]

Admiral of the Navy Marcus Patinkin glared at the computer screen as he read the statement from Damien. Cowards, he read. Even though the insults pointedly left Sarzonia out even though it was one of the three nations that first dared stand against Lord Damien, Sarzonia was not labelled cowardly.

And for good reason. The Sarzonians stood toe to toe with Pantera, giving back as good as they got for the duration of hostilities against one of the world's largest megapowers. The treaty was little more than a modernised Treaty of Ghent that ended the British-American War, but the Sarzonian army forces faced a rampaging horde of Reavers and calmly returned fire. Patinkin knew from the war reports he saw after Vice President for Defence John Newman and Vice President for Naval Operations Kathy Bunhall personally begged him to come out of retirement for this one major conflict that the Incorporated Sarzonian Army stood with the Branwynian colonial militia and didn't give an inch that wasn't part of a strategic withdrawal.

Even though Sarzonia was specifically left out of the communicade, Patinkin felt a rage welling up inside him that he hadn't felt since facing a CorpSacian general during negotiations with Praetonian Admiral Marcus Dio. For a 74 year old naval officer who had last been in uniform a dozen years ago, he took the insult to the Praetonians personally. With the treaty on the verge of ratification in the House of Delegates, he knew he most likely wouldn't be sitting in the command chair of the ISS Praetonia and leading the way for a Sarzonian combined assault on Automagfreek, much as the idea of doing so appealed to him. However, he'd developed a plan with Lieutenant General Mike Quinn that could turn the stalemate into an Allied victory. He was damned if he was going to allow that time spent developing the strategy go to waste.

With growing frustration, and damning the verbal torpedoes that could result from a breach in protocol, he went to the communications station on the bridge of the Praetonia himself, dismissing the First Lieutenant that was assigned to the station and tapping a few keys on the console himself. He knew she'd probably question why he chose to do this himself, but he also knew time was of the essence. And he had access codes to get through to the War Room that only a select few foreigners had. He was going to make this transmission count. After punching in commands that made the transmission ultra top secret and set to maximum encryption, Patinkin spoke.

"This is Admiral of the Incorporated Navy Marcus Patinkin contacting the War Room of the Democratic Imperium of Praetonia. I am waiting to meet with you to discuss war plans regarding the prosecution of the War of Righteousness against the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek. I have been waiting here on the bridge of the ISS Praetonia for quite some time and I'm getting a little antsy. We have a chance to win this blasted war, but we need to move and quick.

"I don't care if I meet you in your war room or in my situation room or wherever you feel prudent. But we must meet to discuss this war, especially if we're going to win this thing without direct Sarzonian involvement. I'll be damned if I let our alliance be labelled cowards by this jackass Damien without our giving him one hell of a fight."

As an aside, he also sent a nearly identical message to Hogsweat's government and military command centre. Patinkin wasn't one to take an insult to his honour lying down. He planned to give Damien one gigantic body blow, even if it wasn't his military that was delivering the punch. Somehow, some way, Marcus David Patinkin was determined to outwit Lord Damien Dreadfire.

Sleep now in the fire.

That very statement got on Patinkin's damn nerves. It was time for that phrase to be extinguised along with the fire it referred to, and Patinkin felt a personal duty to be the one with the fire hose.

Press Release - Secretariat of War

Dear Sirs,

In recent hours the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek has released a somewhat bizarre message written, presumably, byt their esteemed leader, Lord Dreadfire. It contains a number of inconsistensies and untruths which I am loath to have to point out, but feel that I certainly must if the international community is to understand the basic causes and origins of this war.

Firstly I should point out that preparing several thousand vessels and organising convoys takes time - and this is what we are busy doing for the protect of our nation currently. This is not, however, the greatest thing that I must point out, however.

The Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek appears to be suggesting that we have promised to destroy them, and that we are therefore cowards for not doing so. Now, leaving juvenile insults not befitting of a 'national leader' aside, I feel bound to point out that it was Automagfreek that decided to declare "Total War" on Praetonia and her people for deigning to fight back as they attacked the outpost of our ally. We are currently preparing for and awaiting a carry-out of these threats - no sensible Ministry of Defence faced with such a threat would do anything else - and we have every reason to believe that they are preparing to do so.

Praetonia and her Commonwealth may or may not carry out an invasion of the Automagfreek mainland at some point in the future, but I shall surely not release official secrets to the international community nor shall I commit myself to nor shall I rule out any action in the prosecution of this war. Needless to say, however, any such invasion would require a great deal of preparation - far more than can be achieved in mere weeks since the outbreak of war.

I hope that this message has informed the international community of the true nature of this war, and educated the horribly ill-informed government of Automagfreek. We are constantly wary of promised enemy "Total War" attack, and we shall respond to any such attack with the sum total of our might and we shall not rule out invasion, but as yet there is no possibility - even if such a course of action is being pursued - of preparations for an invasion being complete. So far, however, the sum total of Automagfreek "Total War" appears to have been the use of nuclear weapons almost as soon as the war has started and then the denial of any and all responsibility for being completely unable to control their own nuclear deterrent. Not at all impressive.

Yours Faithfully,

Sir Thomas Moore

And Automagfreek would like to point out a few gross inconsistencies of your own, though I fear that your 'esteemed' leaders will resort to the tired old claims that we are being 'childish' by doing so. Your pathetic attempts to save face in the international community is laughable.

First off, Total War was never declared my good simpleton. The statement made was

Lord Dreadfire and his top brass are deliberating wether or not to declare a state of Total War with Praetonia for this...outrage.

However, in the months passed no declaration was given, and I hope you are intelligent enough to put 2 and 2 together. Therefore this acccusation of yours holds no water.

Second, you claim that staging an invasion of this size takes time. Let's see....you've had months before the incident at Cariya turned sour, and now you have had many more months to plot and plan. All I am hearing from you is excuses, nothing more.

Third, your outrageous claim that Automagfreek sanctioned the nuclear attack not only proves your own stupidity, and it also makes us quite angry. I will pleade our case no more, because no matter what facts and evidence are laid before you, Praetonia refuses to see things any other way than theirs. Blinded by hatred would be an appropriate term.

I pray the international community can see through the poor spin attempts of the Praetonian government and its attempts to further blacken the good name of Automagfreek. They have been told to 'put up or shut up', but so far have continued yipping like some inbred dog, spouting misinformation and engaging in a campaign of slander. Until I see otherwise I will continue to stand by this belief.

Good day Mr. Coward.

Press Release - Secretariat of War

Dear Sirs,

I truely despise this petty and somewhat juvenile 'debating' that Automagfreek's park-ranger-esque Minister consistenly takes pleasure in conducting instead of conducting a war, but as I am baited such I shall respond, as tiresome as I find it to do so.

Firstly, the Automagfreek Government does not appear to have much in the way of a sense of time. Since the beginning of this 'war', nothing more than a petty skirmish has taken place over a largely irrelevent island, after which Hogsweat advanced somewhat in pursuit of the fleeing Automagfreek fleet and was then beaten back by coastal defences. This 'battle' has lasted a few days at most. Hardly enough time to plan an invasion and by no means "months".

This brings us on to this bizarre and grossly illogical statement:

Third, your outrageous claim that Automagfreek sanctioned the nuclear attack not only proves your own stupidity, and it also makes us quite angry. I will pleade our case no more, because no matter what facts and evidence are laid before you, Praetonia refuses to see things any other way than theirs. Blinded by hatred would be an appropriate term.

I would firstly like to point out that no evidence has actually been provided that conclusively proves the attack was not carried out by the Automagfreek Government. There is evidence (the fact that bombers have been lined up to attack just after the strike) that Automagfreek had planned the attack, but this too is inconclusive and so i stick by my original statement - that His Majesty's Government reserves judgement on the issue and keeps an open mind to the perfectly reasonable possibility that the situation was set up, further reinforced by the fact that Automagfreek has used the oppurtunity to move her forces closer to the allied naval force at the same time as her bombers attack whilst refusing to a blanket truce for our two navies to co-operating in hunting down the allegedly rouge submarine.

My second point is quite simple. As stated in my last press release, even if, as you state, the orders to fire the nuclear weapons were not issued by anyone at the time under the influence of the AMF Government, it still does not excuse the fact that you efuse to take responsibility for your complete and utter lack of an ability to control not just you navy but your entire nuclear deterrent. With that specific point of yours utterly destroyed, I move on...

The most important, perhaps 'killer' point is quite simple, and one completely neglected by the Automagfreek Government thus far - it was not us who attacked you. We have stated quite clearly and openly on many occassions that we shall defend our allies, and defend ourselves from any aggression which you may seek to prosecute. Whilst we reserve the right to and may, at some point in the future, take retaliatory action for the vicious and barbaric acts conducted against out vessels using nuclear weapons, we do not understand why, as you assert, we are honour bound to invade you if we are to maintain consistency on this matter. If all we have from Automagfreek are inept nuclear attacks and pathetic insults such as "Mr. Coward" then His Majesty's Government is most cetainly not afraid.

Yours Respectfully,

Sir Thomas Moore,
Secretary of War

War Progress Slow But Decisive
By: William Scott

Progress in the war dubbed Operation: Hellfire has been slow at best, but so far there is no doubt that Automagfreek has shown its resiliency. On the eastern/southeastern theater, The Fallen Races had already surrendered to AMF authority, and rumor is beginning to spread that Findan may very well capitulate soon. This would be a tremendous boost to the AMF war effort, but will not exactly hurt our nation's war effort if Findan refuses to give in.

On the northern front, progress has ground to a halt. After an attempt to lure the Praetonian Navy into firing range, the entire force then fell back towards Hogsweatian positions on the outskirts of AMF territorial waters. This can only mean that the war will inevitably be prolonged.

Lord Dreadfire continues to defend Automagfreek successfully in the face of stiff opposition, and several prominent military experts agree that so far the war is going in AMF favor. Former Colonel Joseph Aaron had the following to say:

Technically Damien Dreadfire does not even have to destroy Hogsweat and Praetonia proper to win this war. Unless a major mistake is made, a Freek victory is pretty much assured at this point. The navies of Praetonia and Hogsweat have without a doubt suffered a serious blow to their morale. Their underestimation of AMF defenses not once, but several times have delt a definate hit to their pride.

The navies of said nations have been hyped to be the best, and so far they have failed to deliver on those claims. Not that the AMF Navy is by any stretch of the imagination incapable of holding its own against any foe on the planet, but it goes to show that the Freeks are not nearly as weak as the enemy has thought.

By all rights the public relations damage has already been done. Even if Praetonia and Hogsweat were to successfully defeat Automagfreek in ths war (however unlikely), they will surely never be able to live these blunders down. Granted the strike by the traitor Sunstone did not help matters, but that attack did not contribute to the ineptia displayed by Praetonian and Hogsweatian high command so far in this war.

No more than several hours ago AMF High Command confirmed that a large wing of heavy bombers sent by the nation of Findan were totally wiped out, thus adding more fuel to the Freek PR fire. The so called 'coalition of the just' has displayed nothing but total incompetance from the very beginning of this war, and it has already led to The Fallen Races throwing in the towel before things got any worse.

All in all, despite the slow nature of the enemy, the pendulum of war continues to sway in Automagfreek's favor.
