In one of the nation’s proudest moments, the Bjornoyan Patriarch Sedaht Rand announced that the Bjonoyan Nuclear Research Facility (BNRF) was operational after three years of construction.

The facilities consist of three linear accelerators generating low energy particles, a Proton Synchrotron (PS) Booster, which increases the energy of particles generated by the linear accelerators before they are transferred to the other accelerators, a 30 GeV PS, a Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS), a 2 km diameter circular accelerator with an energy of 365 GeV. The largest particle collider is over 30km in circumference, built around the suburbs of the nation’s capital Esthar. This enormous facility cost the government nearly 200 billion dollars.

Amongst the many goals of the program are the synthesis of new elements. “Neither God nor man has created what we are striving for,” stated head scientist Karl Heidegger. “I have full faith in our magnificent government that our findings will be put to good use.” Approximately 3,000 of Bjornoya's top scientists are currently working at the facility.

At the front of the center, in an arch constructed of dull iron lies an inscription of the ancient Bjonoyan scholars. As yet unintelligible, it reads, “pereat mundus, fiat philosophia, fiat philosophus, fiam.”

The Huahinian Goverment would like to help Bjornoya its research of fission and fusion technologgy. Would this be possible? On which of your territories is this reactor? (RL name please)

I propose that we create an International Scientific Commitee that would act as an advisor to participating national leaders. No nation is garaunteed any benefits from participating unless they offer financial assistance and highly trained professionals to the instiution. If a naiton chooses to donate a minimal amount to the facility, they can have more say within the commitee.

What the powers of the commitee should be are negotiable.

In its first month of operation, Bjornoyan scientists have already isolated and succesfully classified two new elements:

Atomic number 112: Has been declared Bjornoyam after the nation
Atomic number 113: Has been declared Randium after the nation's patriarch

Only about 100 atoms Bjornoyam were produced, but sufficient data were collected to prove its existence. The half life of Bjornoyam is 11 seconds. Due to the short half life, it has no practical purposes.

Only 3 atoms of Randium were synthesized through atomic collisions. The recorded half life of the substance was 13 minutes, but due to the small quantity produced, this may not be accurate. Randium is highly unstable, and although it releases a tremendous amount of energy during its rapid alpha decay, most substances would not be able to withstand containing it. Scientists have declared any use of the substance "unlikely in the near future."

It has a half life of about 13 mintues, meaning if I made a kilo of this stuff, in 26 minutes you would have .25 kilograms...
You'd need to be able to use the stuff extremely fast for it to be practical. Look for something with a higher half-life.

Explosion at Bjornoyan Nuclear Research Facility

After 5 months without incident, a large explosion tore through B facilities' particle accelerator. The explosion created a nearly spherical hole in the ground where the particle accelerator is located.

Official reports from the Bjornoyan Federal Government said the explosion was caused by one of the generators used to create an EM field overheating. Public Health and Safety head Earl Hippokrats issued state mandated evacuations in the area surrounding the blast site. The radiation leak caused by the explosion of the generator will be harmful for approximatelly 2 months.

The Bjornoyan Government had no comment concerning reports from independent organizations that the radiation was harmless EM radiation, and did not explain how a generator overheating would have caused this.

No casualties were reported, and the other facilites were left unaffected. It will be another 6 months before B facility's particle accelerator is operational again.

The Divine Empire of Kreynoria wishes to express its concern about possible environmental effects of the explosion, and will provide financial aid in repairing the damaged reactor.

The Bjornoyan Federal Government thanks the Kreynorian Empire for its gesture, however the situation is well in hand. Nobody has been hurt, and those near the blast site were evacuated before the radiation could cause permanent damage. Environmental damage is minimal.

OOC: This also contradicts Bjornoyan government's explanation that a generator overheated.

Patriarch Rand met with the CEO of Visara Corporation 3 months after the incident. Citizens were allowed back to their homes, and the reconstruction was going according to plan.

"How much do you think we can make?"

"About one millionth of a gram per year. Sedaht, I remind you this substance is incredibly powerful. I trust you with it, but please never allow this to fall into unworthy hands."

Sedaht smiled, "Wilhlem, I doubt the world will ever figure out what we've created. It took our scientists years to even come up with the idea of this substance."

"This, we have created nothingness..."

Wilhelm raised his eyes to the Patriarch,

"It is more than just the energy it can produce that worries me old friend. In any case, it will be another 10 years or so before we can harness that energy. Foolish scientists know little of power and control. I hope you dealt with those responsible?"

Sedaht blushed, knowing he was the one most responsible for the incident. He would have never forgiven himself if anyone was hurt, but he at least was able to confine the explosion within a portion of the accelerator and evacuate citizens before anything happened.

Visara has completed the first and only submersible run off a dual-reactor system. Anti-hydrogen nuclei were fused and converted into anti-Lithium via high energy particle collisions within the B.N.R.F. The anti-Litium was compacted into a rod and is held in vacuum within an electromagnetic chamber. To produce energy, part of the anti-Lithium rod is severed via an electromagnetic field which effectivelly 'cuts' the material without touching it. When introduced to matter (in this case water) a tremendous amount of energy is released and converted into mechanical power. The vessel for the most part runs off of the 'normal' nuclear reactor. If neccessary the vessel may switch to its A-Li reactor to reach incredible speeds.

Although the speed helps its main defense lies within itself. 1 kilogram of anti-matter is stored within each ship and if released from their elecromagnetic chamber at one time would result in an explosion equivalent to about 40 kilotons of TNT. Aside from this, the akward design of the vessel combines sound-absorbant material, a lack of perpendicular angles, and minimal heat release to provide excellent stealth coverage while moving at slow speeds.

ooc: I know this vessel is FT, if not impossible by most standards, but I want this to be a substitute for the normal boring air-flights that world leaders use. I gave up putting any armaments and quantity in exchange for speed and stealth which it will rely on. If you have any major objections just TG me and I won't use it against you if its too far-fetched, but I will use this for my revolution thread.
And considering my nation spends more money on education than defense I think I could justify my nation having some rather advanced machines.
Lastly I will add one of the things that makes this game appealing is the fact it is not real. If we placed the exact same restrictions that apply to RL into the game we would end up with the same world except in digital form. I want to be imaginitive and creative, thus the RPing.

Huahinian Scientists have created a Tokamak for containing plasma during a Fusion reaction. We welcome all BNRF scientists to come along and help us.

Bjornoyan scientists would be happy to review and assist Huahinian scientists in this undertaking. A crucial step in creating a fusion reactor is an efficient Tokamak. Such a device may have other practical purposes as well.

The peaceful development of fusion technology should be at the forefront of the power and energy industry. The Empire has undergone many experiments too but has yet to produce anything that could be considered an efficient and working design. Fusion power may be decades off but the research we do now will lay the groundwork for the future.

The Huahinian Nuclear Research Institute welcomes observers from any countries approved by the Huahinian Gov't. (OOC - I think I'll set up an international relations thread.)
Also on Hans Island, we have begun a Cold Fusion project, which, while not as powerful as our main Fusion project, will possibly be the first of the two to become an efficient energy source.
