Craykers - The Creation of a Race

Craykon
20-09-2005, 08:54
The origins of the Craykon Civilization has long been debated amongst scholars, scientists, and religious leaders alike. All of which have a deeply vested interest in the subject. As all races do.

The Religion of Crayke, and the largely atheist Scientists, clash greatly over every detail of origin, to the point of causing civil upheavel of the subject. The Religion of Crayke, and the Temple, beleives that Crayke was the first success in a long line of Genetic Experiements, an attempt to create a perfect being, one free of blemish and fault. So the DNA of many species, specifically the DNA strands that governed their success in the world, was assembled into human embryos, effectively creating a new race, only superior to that of their creators.

Before the project was cancelled, millions had been subjected tot he treatment in their embryotic stage. As hundreds of them began developing, and showing advanced brain development, over their creators, they became scared, and exiled them into the stars, to a planet that would be their new homeworld.

It is this blind affection to the so called achievments of the One called Crayke, thatthe scientists of Craykon adhore, as simple fantasy. The Scientific realm of Craykon believe that the opposite is true. That they did indeed attempt to create a perfect race, and they did, biologically and mentally, but, they believe the Elders of the Craykers were flawed. That they were violent, and it shows in Religious texts, that they indeed, were violent towards their creators, after the project was cancelled.

The Scientists also believe that the Elder Craykers weren't exiled. They theorise that, giving gigantic ships needed for travelling across the stars, to a hated People, that were seen as unhuman, and indeed were, would have been quite simply, idiotic. They theorise that instead of the Elders being "Given" the ships, they simply took them. Most of the original millions of Craykers, it is believed, were left behind, and only a few hundred thousand actually made the journey in stasis.

It is here, that the few Craykers that were left out of stasis to watch over the ships' systems, that indeed, served their entire lives in space...quite simply went mad. They listened to stories told by word of mouth over the proceeding generations, and from this, founded the Religion of Crayke enroute to World that would eventually be known as Craykon. This, the Scientific society explains, could only mean one thing; The Religion of Crayke, and its Temple, were born of insanity.

As if that's not enough, they also suggest that Crayke wasn't even a Crayker...that indeed, he was the actual creator, the lone scientist that spliced the genes and assembled the Elders.

These two competing theories as to why the Craykers are who they are, both have contexts of truth. Yet both are also flawed. Always competing. The Craykers have only recently, within the past hundred years, rediscovered one of the Ships that carried them across the galaxies. Twelve of them are beleived to have carried the Craykers, only four actually made it. The rest suffered catastrophies that are lost to history.

The Craykers are of course, humanoid, sharing the same atmospheric tolerances as Humans. They are gernally amune to all but the most life threatening diseases, although exotic disease, perhaps those harbored in other worlds, could pose a threat to their immune systems.

Their hieghts are generally between 5'7" and 6'1". Their skin tones come in all shades of colors, from fair skinned to light brown, to a hint of green, and soemtimes even a ghostly yellow. Their hair is almost always long and graceful, in colors varying from brown to blonde, and shades in between. They have one thing in common with eachother - bright blue eyes that always shimmer. It is believed that the color of their eyes come from the same biological chemicals which cause some species of jellyfish to glow bright blue.

Their societal structure is as vibrant as they are, three tribes dominate the scene. The Three Tribes, are called Danear, Kataar, and Duhnse. Danear being the most powerful tribe socially, as they are the ones that created the Temple Doctrine, and built every Temple found on Craykon. Although recent shifts in society have given Kataar recent windfall, as interest in Science and a yearning for Spacefaring has arisen with the rediscovery of the "Elder Ship."

The Duhnse Tribe harbors a little of both of the other Tribes. They are traders for the most part. In their ranks, are enterprising Craykers, and are generally the wealthiest Tribe, yet they are also the weakest socially. They use Temple Morals in the Trade, to always be fair, and to never squander, to do good deeds with what they have to spare. They also have the willingness to explore Space, much as the Kataar do, in an effort for profits, with the prospect of building off-world mining colonies in the future.

The Danear Tribal lands are located in the forest rich area known as "Aresta Ethro," their main City is "Danre Erk"

The Duhnse Tribal Lands lies in the eastern stretches of Craykon, the Desertlands known as Arhk Hunan. Believed to be the "Cradle from which the Craykers walked." Their main City is "Duhnse Arbiture"

The Kataar Tribal lands is in the lands of Eriste, which is a vast lowland on the contient of Lorte Harne.

The rest of the lands are non-tribal, and are shared equally amongst all the civilized People that are the Craykers.

Places of Interest

Arhk Hunan - The great desert expanse in the eastern area of Craykon. It is the territory of the Enterprising Duhnse, which means, in literal translation "Dunes." During the first generations of the Craykon Civilization, the Duhnse Tribe mined its vast resources of Iron and Copper, and did so untill recent times, when many of the Iron and Copper deposists were depleted.

Arhk Hunan is also a great Religious area, where the Elder Ship Repreicon was found.

Ragor's Scar - A three-mile ravine carved into an otherwise smooth surfaced moon, called Jahs, one of four moons that orbit Craykon. This is where one of the twelve Elder Ships crashed, and subsequently, vaporised, carving the deep ravine. The first Off-World colony was built at the crater at the end of the ravine. The two-mile in diameter crater was formed by the great explosion which vaporised the ship. Scientists have speculated that it was a collision of Anti-Matter with Matter, as the Anti-Matter leaked from its cells.

Ragor's Scar is now a Religious Site, where the Religious Elite go to pilgrimage. The Religious of the Craykers believe this is where all the Ancestors of the Craykers lost in space go. And, in the light atmosphere, breatheable only with exygen-enriching filters, it is beleived that one can hear the whispers of the Elders lost en route to Craykon. And, if there are future catapstrophes where loss of Craykon life occurs, it is beleived that those souls too, will find their way to Ragor's Scar. Speaking is prohibited in the Ravine itself, and those who do utter even one word are sent back to Craykon, and never allowed to return.

Recently, a Fundimentalist Religious Order has found majority in the Colony of Jahs, which only has a 2,000 thousand perminent Colonists. This is causing tention between all parties that have investments in the Colony, fearing an attempt at sucession.
