OOC: I didn't really know where to put this... so I'm putting it here.

Introduction Filopania

Background:
Filopania was one of three countries that emerged from the collapse of the Empire of the Jackal in 1795 (the others being the Decagon Republic, and Kinjo). For most of the first half of the 22nd century, Filopania was ruled by generally benevolent military strongmen, who promoted the oil industry and allowed for some social reforms. Democratically elected governments have held sway since 2159. Until of course the rise of McNeyism, which took in all nations of South America quickly by storm, most were met it with extreme opposition, and in the end only two accepted the power of McNeyism. Filopania one of these two finally pulled itself out of the mess that was a socialist revolution, and successfully formed the Most Serene Republic of Filopania on July 5th, 2236. Elections were held twenty days after independence was declared, and Filopania came under the leadership of a friend of the one who created McNeyism, current president elect Matthew Slovak. The second of these is now a great ally of Filopania, the peacefully reformed Decagon Socialist Republic.
