OOC: I have switched from Mongolia to Haiti because there was no hope in gaining independence for Mongolia.

IC: In the first democratic elections in the 118-year history of Haiti, there was a massive turnout of over 90% and a large transfer of power. Guy Latortue was elected to his first term as president. His party, the Parti Progressif won 55% of the vote defeating the Parti Liberté and the Parti Conservatif. This gave them six of eleven seats in the Conseil Général d'Haiti. All of this great news was thanks to the progressive beliefs of Emperor Charles II. He planned to abdicate as soon as the first elections were finalized.

Charles II had introduced great reforms over his 20-year reign. they included creating an up-to-date infrastructure, upgrading the military and grant more freedoms to his people, ending corruption. Président Latortue planned to open relations with nearby United States and Europe, specifically its colonial master: France.

How are you going to start with the smallest country? Haiti has no army or air force. Let alone a navy. Haiti probably has a tech level of .5 out of 5.

Korea is gald to see another nation embracing democracy. On another note, would you like to enter into a trade pact with us? We have technical expertise and goods to give, in exchange for some of your agricultural goods.

Haiti will be happy to open up relations with Korea. We have large farms of sugarcane and coffee that are processed here and can be sold. Our coffers are very low and we need to sell as much as possible. Any help and loans that can be made to help modernization will be greatly appreciated.

The Bank of Korea is willing to extend a USD$10,000,000 loan with 2% interest to the Haitian Government for use in building local infrastructure. We will also be willing to open our National University and the Korean Technical Institute to your students at reduced rates. Our Korean Motor Company would also be willing to sell you the rights to the Joseon Engine, in exchange for rights to invest in Haiti, and we are fielding offers from benevolent societies in Korea to send aid workers to Haiti to aid in the development of healthcare.

In exchange, we do ask for the right to invest in coffee and sugarcane plantations in Haiti, and to purchase Haitian product. Other than that, that's it.

All nations are free to invest in our coffee, sugar, and bauxite industries. Any investment will greatly stimulate our economy. However, investment profits are subject to taxes. All business done in Haiti must follow our regulations as well. We are also working on a product that shows promise, however, we lack the resources to build a factory. The product is instant coffee. It is premade and dehydrated, you just add boiling water and you get a fresh, pre-sweetened cup of coffee. This will revolutionize coffee-making. Muhaha!!

Perhaps investors and chemists from Korea would be willing to provide capital for such a factory operation. We would also be willing to provide management and equipment training.

We are willing to follow your rules and regulations, however, we must ask what sort of regulations are in place.

As long as you allow inspectors to evaluate the following(and you pass), you're good to go.
-little environmental impact
-little social impact
-hires and trains local workers
-is fair to all people involved

Also, large corporations are not usually allowed unless they have a clean record.

OOC: I just asked about 10 or so nations to open up relations with Haiti. We wish to be a mediator between nations and have virtually no enemies(except Spain and the Dominican Republic).

Rest assuredly, Korean industrial and commercial concerns have a reputation for creating quality products without sacrificing the concerns of their employees or their consumers. We will consent to the use of inspectors, to remain honest.

The Republic of Haiti wishes to open up relations with Russia. For trade we have coffee, sugar, and bauxite. We are in need of lumber, cement, and steel. We also need doctors, soldiers, engineers, teachers, etc to train our citizens.

The Union will be happy to export lumber, steel, and cement to Haiti at reduced cost in light of Haiti's poverty. We will also be happy to import Haitian bauxite.
Unfortunately, due to a serious drought in Ukraine right now we are in need of own doctors, soldiers, and engineers. We will be happy to send teachers, however. An educated populace is an investment on the future.

TO: Port au Prince, Hati
FROM: Bruxelles, Belgium

Dear Sir(s):

The Belgian Government and People both have looked upon the Carribean, especially the situation of your own proud nation with growing remorse and sorrow. Thus, in the interests of a better and more prosperous North America, we would like to present to you the following proposition:

The Bank of Belgium, along with several financial institutions are willing to provide your government with long-term, fixed-rate loans. The interest rates of these loans would be highly competitive, around the typical rate of 4% and could be payed off in either an equivilant amount of Hatian paper currency, gold or silver. We suggest the first loan amount to be priced around 50 Million Belgian Francs and can be payed off over the next 10 years. If the Hatian Government is still in need of further funds to continue develop its nation, we are still avalible for more loans of this type.

And although the Belgian Government has no offical ties to any private contractors or investment firm, we can assure that this request shall be forwarded to all major contractors and/or investment firms and the responses of those interested will inevitably find their way into Hatian Diplomatic channels.

I can assure you that there is no other nation and/or corporate entitiy better suited to the task of large-scale development projects or foriegn investment than those located with Belgium.

We thank you for this oppurtunity.

Signed,

Dr. Chartes Verkoov
Minister of Finance
The Federal Republic of Belgium

TO: Port au Prince, Hait
FROM: Antwerp, Belgium

Dear Sir(s):

Over the past several years, our investors have been warily observing Hati's ongoing internal problems, anxious that any possible investment made in the area would be siezed and/or destroyed. However, with the installation of a stronger central government, we are beginning to think otherwise.

Thus, our company, along with the BNP Paribas Investment firm would like to foster a new, more profitable relationship with your nation and it's diverse economy. Already, Hati has shown great potential with it's vast reserves of sugar cane and if this potential is harvested upon, great things could occur. Thus, we would like to aid you in this time of economic growth, by providing funds and/or investments, to help further develop your industries into refined, and competitive companies.

Furthermore, with our development expertise, along with the finesse of various contractors within our influence, we could ensure that a greater amount of Hati's reasources can be harnessed, by way of further developing and modernizing the methods and equipment used to gather them.

In return for our funds and expertise, our investors would like the oppurtunity to purchase shares of all Hatian Industries aided or established, along with a fee of 15% of the total profits yielded by our new programs.

We hope that you will seriously consider this request, for the betterment of Hati and it's people.

Signed,

Henri Dumaunt

Denamrk would like to extend the Scandinavian Trade Pact and a Denmark-Norweign-Haitian Mutual Aid Pact. This is prett much a recap of what was posted on my diplomatic branch. In showing my steadfastness with allies I will tell you a fixed interest of 4% is nothing you should ever ever consider. A non-Fixable rate of 2% would be a more reasonable rate ,or it could be fixed and 1%. Even though very low, I don't think that you should consider Haiti Germany or a very rich nation.

I would formally ask Haiti in all of her riches to accept the Scandinavian Trade Pact extension towards you.

Haiti accepts all of the above.

NOTE: We don't rule the Dominican Republic, we're neighbors.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic--King Juan III's dictatorship is on the verge of collapse. Soldiers and bodyguards desert him by the hour. His aides and advisors hole up in their homes. Mobs of citizen raid and pillage government buildings and markets. The king, seeing little hope on his own, begins to think he should ask neighboring Haiti to help him. They had been enemies for decades, but perhaps they could form an alliance, weak as it may be. He dispatched an ambassador to seek help from Haiti, any help.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti--The ambassador arrived weary and tired two days later. His clothing were stained and wet and he looked almost dead. He looks around for an official place to surrender at when a policeman grabs him. In a strong French voice: "WHO ARE YOU?!?" The ambassador was puzzled, for he did not no French. The policeman repeated his question in Creole and the man was still confused. He said in Spanish: "I come from Santo Domingo." Recognizing "Santo Domingo", the policeman locked a chain around the ambassador's hands and brought him to the constable.

The constable, who spoke and understood a little Spanish, asked the ambassador what he wanted and why he was here. He replied that his king had sent him to seek help from Haiti for the kingdom was about to collapse. The constable had the man reclothed and put in a cell until something could be done for him. Meanwhile, the constable went to find out exactly what should be done with him.

"Send him back with a negative reply. Haiti will not aid an enemy or its totalitarian government." The constable did as told and the ambassador was on his way home. The king was furious and began to consider his options...

Hello, Denmark, in the name of goodness and to protect the family is sending troops over from Denamrk and from the Garrison from the Virgin Islands. About 2,000 troops with 20,000 punds of extra cargoe.
All of this can be canceled if you decide too....

the US Caribbean Fleet would have prevented any hostile action by Denmark against Haiti... and its a moot point now in any case, as the Danish Virgin Islands are now under US protection and have become the independent Republic of the Virgin Islands, now a well known tourist destination for Middle Class and Upper Class Americans travelling via the new cruise liners.

OOC: I am so sorry for not being involved for a while, but Ns started to bore me, especially the forums. But, I have returned. I don't know what to do about my probationary status though.

IC: The Dominican Republic is in a state of anarchy with local factions ruling about 30 regions and constantly having skirmishes along their borders. Haiti does not consider this a threat to its security and has chosen not to get involved at this time.

Haiti has begun to start paying back its loans and greatly thasnks other nations for itheir help. Haiti is allowing all nations involved in the War to withdraw their troops that are training ours. Our troops appear to have sufficient training for now.
