Militia Enforced State milestone speech.

Militia Enforced State
19-09-2005, 20:46
Force Commander James Ackvick walks up to the podium in Honour Square, in front of thousands of citizens. He clears his throat, then picks up the paper that he wrote before the presentation.

"Today, we are here to celebrate a new milestone for our nation! Today, our nation has reached a population of one billion people!"

The crowd cheers, which shows how much national pride the citizens of his country are.

"Today, we are here to remember those who have fought for our way of life, politically, physically, and at war. We should also remember the great war that we endured in the past. The great war when our democratic and other governments on this continent was horribly corrupt!"

He pauses, to gather his notes. "The war wiped out half of our populaton, and caused the military, the one that a great portion of you are a part of, to take over the countries of this continent, and take the corruptions out of government."

"Some of you wonder why we are still under this military dictatorship. There are many reasons. First of all, the world is still in turmoil, and we need a strong, effective force to commit in case of invasion. Secondly, we have brought all of you an effective police force, medicare and education system, given you more social rights, and cut down on religion's say on what we can or can not do, as there are so many religions, it is impossible to not be biased unless we took a stance as a non-religious government."

He changes pages. "However, we believe now is a time to set up a real government. We still listen to the people, all of you. However, some of you would like to make a difference. That is why starting today, we are holding elections for a new democratic branch of government, which has the power to say what even the military can or can not do."

The crowd cheers to the statement. Ackvick grins, as he knows the people have been waiting for this for a long time.

"I personally appoligise for not getting this done sooner, but we have had to create and put in the safeguards in place. To make sure that corruption does not hit our country again, and tear apart what we have done for you, the elected government can be overruled by the current Force Commanders including myself, to make sure that the government stays in check. As well, as you already remember, our Force Commanders are hand picked for strong, non-biased morals and the ability to run the country. You may think that we are making this new government a sham, but all we want, is for you, as a country, to be happy and proud."

The crowd cheers again. He flips to the last page. "Now is the beginning of a new era for our country. The world is in strife, we have numerous wars going on, countries that are abusing their citizens, pumping them with propreganda. It is time to free them from this tyrany. This here is a statement to the world: We will not stand for abuses of your citizens, and attacks on good countries!"

The crowd cheers, but not as loud as before. He looks up, speaking without assistance. "I understand that some of you may die, and I know that some of you don't want to go. That is why I am giving you the choice. If you want to participate in this, then sign up today. But if you don't want to be in the war, then most of you will be in the reserves, but I promise, and I mean promise, that the reserves will NOT be used for war, but only for defending this country from attack. And I know that you all, if not most of you, even the uneasy would be willing to protect what is great about this country."

The crowd cheers again back to their original enthusiasm. "Now is a time to make a stand for those who cannot help themselves! It is time to help those in need, to stop being a bystander in a corrupt world, and to allow freedom of the peoples to stand!"

The crowd cheers again, as Ackvick walks off of the podium. The media swarm him as he walks out.

"How many troops will be deployed to the world?" one asked.

He answers back quickly, "50 million will be earmarked, while approximately 600,000 reservists will be at home protecting the country from disaster and attackers."

"What type of countries will Militia Enforced State attack?" another asked.

"We are not attacking any specific types of government, only the corrupt ones. We will ally with good democracies, good communists, good dictatorships. It does not matter what type, just as long as they serve the people."

One other question is asked as he enters his armoured vehicle. "If the new government overrules this new world initiative, will you overrule their decision?"

Ackvick pauses. He never thought of that. As he promised the citizens that they had a choice of what the military did or did not, corruption nonwithstanding, he had only one answer that would be right. "No, we will do what the civilian government wishes."

He gets into his vehicle, and drives off. I hope that we can continue this initiative for a while... he thought. He would only have a month of direct control between him and the Force Commanders, before the civilian government was elected. Hopefully, they will allow the continued operations.
