OOC: this is a redone thread of the old now ruined Side Story (no thanks to a nation of The GA side.) and to make sure that this doesn;t get ruined. The Main rule is...NO KILLING THE MAIN CHARACTERS!!!!!!!

oh and the Story line is that The Hatarian General, the Dread Jedi Killer Chimaera, has ordered General Nadia, Commander Tec'uo, and Dark Jedi Raan'kaan to Lead a Commando Raid on Theed, in Coredia.

While that is Happening, Axis Nova has Called a Meeting of some of the Central Powers Military Leaders to forum THE CONFEDERATION OF INDEPENDET NATIONS to end the threat of The Grand Alliance once and for all.

and there will be Some Battles in this.

The 1st Space Corps jumped out from slipspace. The fleet of cruisers and battleships, flanked on each side by Longsword Fighters, was on the far side of Neptune. The fleet had been moved here to monitor enemy movements, and now the fleet was at a standstill, with fighters flying patrol around the small but spread out group of starships.

OOC: Remember to give us cues as to what we should be doing as you go. Tag any main/still necessary characters that you don't want shot in a battle. Remember that if it's too tightly guarded a frontal assault is inevitable, just as cornering an enemy means a battle to the death in inevitable.

IC:
A group of surveillance operatives, having previously recieved notice of an incoming fighter from the Homeworld Sensor Network had arrived in Madrid via Air Travel, and one of their number was now atop one of the taller buildings, watching the descending starfighter through an advanced pair of binoculars.

Meanwhile four other operatives were heading towards the projected landing site to trace the fighter's occupants to their destination.

The Fighter was soon in The Atmosphere, "This is Commander Tenc'uo, requesting landing in Madrid Base." Tenc'uo said. "Defecter Shield will be lowered after Code is Confirmed." said the voice on the Com Link. Tenc'uo soon sent the code. "Code Confirmed." the voice said. Tenc'uo looked over to Tanya, The Elf-like alien who she rescued from The Insectoid Kashites. "Well, here we are, Earth."

The Fighter was soon over Madrid heading for The Hatarian Base, one of many bases in Hatarian Spain.

Near the Coast of Spain.

The Water soon started Bubbleing and then it came up, a Victory Class Star Destroyer, The Star Killer!

"those Grand Alliance Fools think that we are dead." said General Chimaera, laughing at the thought of the enemy thinking that they were sunk in the retreat from Coredia. it was two weeks since that retreat and only a hand full of the ships returned. Now The Star Killer was heading for Madrid. Soon The Grand Alliance would fear the name of Chimaera, for she had planned something to show them that they were not dealing with some two bit general.

A spy for the CIN, having managed to elude Coredian authorities, walks down the streets of Madrid, Hatarian Spain. Kinsley is what he is known as, and he is wanted by the High Council for treason and espionage, with a 250,000 credit bounty on him: dead or alive. He now searches for the contact that he was promised in order to ally himself with the CIN leadership and collect his reward, cutting off his allegience to Coredia once and for all...

The droid soon walked away, "Well, here we are, Madrid." Tenc'uo said to Tanya. Tanya looked around. "a Milltary Base?" Tanya said. "well, the base is near Madrid." Tenc'uo said, "Lets wait for the others."

Shoping area, Madrid, Hatarian Spain.

Agenet Kenko Asuka waited for the Coredian in The Shoping Area in the city, with the Tratior's help, they might find a way to beat CoreWorlds and it's Allies in this war. The CIN would soon defeat the enemy with the Coredian's help.

Fleet Commander Hopkins (main character! Do not kill!) stood on the bridge of the Alliance Assault Carrier, the flagship of the 1st Corps. He turned to the Commander of the assault force stationed on the fleet, Commander Jenson. (Again! DO NOT KILL!) Jenson straightened and saluted Hopkins, then eased. "Sir, what do we do now? The troops are getting anxious, especially since this could be their first combat experience in space." "We wait. Orders." Jenson gave a little sigh, the nodded. He walked off the bridge, muttering to himself as he went.

(OOC: They're battledroids, right? Similar stuff, correct?)

The operatives stood at the entrance to the base where the fighter had landed. It was heavily guarded, but with droids. This presented quite the predicament.

Fortunately, having knowledge of battle droid anatomy back at Upsilon Andromedae, several key weaknesses were evident in the mechanoids, as were all computerised units.

However, destroying them would do naught but alert the occupants, and jeopardize the quality of any information gathered.

INAS-1829 and QOSN-3892 (Mechanoid race, non-automata, as are all the others) activated their active camoflage systems, and slowly moved to around 10 metres from the droids, the maximum distance at which the camoflage delay was near impossible to detect.

GRSA-7345 walked up to the gate and addressed one of the droids. "Hello there, I'm afraid I'm a bit lost. Can you tell me where this is?"

"I-I, yes I do." Kelsey stammered, pulling a datapad out of his coat. "This datapad contains information on a top-secret project in Coredia known as 'Project Flarestorm'. Not much is known, but it is rumored to be a next-generation capital ship for the Coredian Navy with the latest technologies. The datapad does not contain much, but this I know: the blueprints for the capital ship are in a city known as Theed, in a highly defended military base. OOC: Since I'm going to be gone for the next few days, I'll outline what I'm trying to do, and in what order. This all takes place before the actual meeting, they get the right place, and any combat can be decided by Hataria, but the alarm is not sounded and at least one operative survives. They can be caught and shot whilst leaving, and the room searched, with several bugs still remaining unseen. Just remember to roleplay out any combat.

If the datapad is revealed, several operatives will search the streets for the spy whilst one remains to watch the conference and transmitting a recording to the Grand Alliance, most notably Coreworlds, being the subject of said plan.

IC:
"Do you know which way it is to Valencia? I missed a turn back there and I'm not sure which way to go."

Whilst the droid was occupied, and focusing on GRSA, the two slowly crept up on the droid, aware that the camoflage would be blown if the droid actually locked onto them.

They drew miniscule versions of the monom blades (small enough to conceal between fingers) and with surgical precision prepared to 'silence' the droid.

INAS inserted its 10 cm blade into the droid's communications unit and severed the transmitter, whilst QOSN used its one to remove the trigger from the blaster rifle. Their shielding may have protected them from any blaster fire, but any such disturbance would be trouble.

------------------------ (next action)
The two then proceeded to sever the cables connecting the eyes, mouth and ears of the droid to its processor, thus effectively disabling it. Finally, they damaged the leg servos to immobilise it.

Once this was done, GRSA drew yet another of the 10cm blades and used it to carefully cut the gates open, with all the operatives activating active camoflage.

The group (consisting of six) proceeded carefully into the base, being sure to avoid being in the direct line of sight of any droids as they headed for the barracks.

------------------------ (next action)
Once nearby, the group entered and systematically silenced the guards, with the blades cauterising the wounds almost instantly. They then searched the area for high ranking uniforms, along with a number of 'grunt' uniforms.

------------------------ (next action)
The remaining members (taking into account any you may kill. I want at least one left by the end of this.) exited the building, with one wearing an officer's uniform and flanked by the others, carrying military blasters and wearing standard grunt uniforms. They removed active camoflage and proceeded to the building most heavily guarded (if not, wherever this is taking place).

------------------------ (next action)
As they entered, they carefully used their various tools to break into the room where the planning session was taking place and bugged it thoroughly, even going so far as to put bugs INTO various solid objects. Then they locked the door again and left the complex, discarding their uniforms before they became noticed.

------------------------ (next action)
The remainder of the ground group (if any) returned to their hotel room, rejoining the rest of the operatives, and listening to and watching their opponents. Their numbers had been thinned considerably, but the mission had been a success, albeit not stunningly so.

You know, come to think of it, the rest of us in the GA should know about this Kelsey character (if you want to allow it...), and use him as a 'doubled agent'.

It occurred to HKIR-1873 that this Kelsey character could be quite useful to the Grand Alliance if he could be recruited. Obviously one would either have to find him or capture him, so some bait would be needed.

His (for lack of a better pronoun) superiors decided to contact Coreworlds about a possible strategy to locate and recruit this 'Kelsey'.

"It has occurred to us that the Hatarians might be willing to retain this 'Kelsey' for their own purposes, and would be an ideal double agent if we were able to contact him. I understand you wish him dead, but we have the name of a spy that could possibly be purchased. The Hatarians may have already met with Kelsey, and therefore money would not be of any use to him, but perhaps a combination of unique, binding gadgetry and maybe a pardon would sway him to mislead the CIN."

Once authorization had arrived, HKIR and two of his most trusted colleagues, ZQCN-7652 and QPTM-6315, embarked on a search for their elusive prey.

After a brief two-day search, involving more than a little interrogation, bribery and outright blackmail, the three discovered much about Kelsey, as well as where he was hiding.

They came to the hotel where he was staying late at night, and with the cooperation of the manager (A blade against the neck can do that).

(Well, that's the explanation part done. Now to the actual negotiations.)

The knob slowly turned and the three operatives entered the room, locking it behind them.

[OOC: Just a little scene setting, should be okay]

Kelsey was still awake, and making arrangements to leave the country. Before long, he mused, he would be gone without a trace, and would never need to worry about Hataria, Coreworlds, The C.I.N., or the Grand Alliance ever again.

Then the three figures slowly stepped into the room, barely visible in the dim lamplight.

High above the planet known to many as Earth, an Executer-class Star Destroyer exited hyperspace. This vessel was covered in the red and black markings of Rea Dan, it was The Alexandria, flagship of the Readanian Space Navy. Exiting the dock of the massive vessel was an Imperial shuttle. The shuttle was heading, as inconspiciously as possible, to the capital of Axis Nova to attend the CIN meeting. The Emperor's own son, Admiral Alexander Liadon, would represent the distant nation.

"Thank you for your cooperation. Now, if you would be kind enough to hold still."

ZCQN produced a syringe-like object from the confines of his clothing, whilst HKIR proceeded to explain.

"The nanites will form into a small 'Rescue Chip', which will store your consciousness as well as your memories. It's very hardy and could probably survive an explosion, but you'd best be careful nonetheless. If you should ever be killed, it'll send your consciousness and memories to our databank, and we can transfer it into an identical clone. Or a mechanoid body. For that matter, we'll need a DNA sample, too."

Kelsey was aware of a momentary sting as another device took a blood sample.

"Right, now that that's done, we'll be giving you the Variable Spectrum eyeballs when we have time to put you through surgery, but for now we need your cooperation. As you should well know, you stole plans of the Theed military base," Here was a tricky part. Kelsey's cooperative state would be destroyed if they made a false statement. It was clear that he believed that the trio were Jedi, or at least force-gifted. "Since you've also got a clear idea of the various weak points where an attack could be effectively conducted, the Hatarians will also want you to advise their insertion teams on those." It was fortunate the mechanoids could not sweat, for they had to bluff carefully. "Your task is to direct them into potential kill-zones, and to provide us with information about their plans. After the successful conclusion of the mission, we shall provide you with a more effective rescue chip and your implants, as well as facilitate your movement into any country you wish, though we will need to pass you through a Grand Alliance country or two to be able to break the chain effectively. The military base that was the target of Hataria was in the northwest quadrant of the city. It was, of course, on a heightened state of alert since war with the CIN was still raging in distant battlefields near and far. It was much like any other military base with a few differences. There was a central research building that was the true target that Kelsey had pointed out in the datapad, then surrounding it was an inner ring of guardposts and electrical fence with barbed wire on top. Outside of the ring was the barracks, mess hall, communications center, basically all the buildings that make up a basic base. There were also tower posts with more soldiers awaiting trouble and ringing the outer perimeter was yet another high-voltage fence. Not to mention that there's two Super Apaches and two LAATs doing patrol duty outside of the perimeter, prepared to deal with any interlopers. All in all, it was quite heavily defended.

The freighter followed the transpoder beam down, just as it should, as deviating from set approach vectors was a quick ticket to anti-aircraft fire on the Godulan worlds.

The landing was smooth enough. The vessel set down like a feather, an unusually soft landing for a military craft, but nothing really nonstandard.

The cargo bay door opened, and twenty Godulan Marines hut-hutted their way to the tarmac in two columns. Following them came four Gendarmes and a pair of Cougars.

The Gendarmes themselves, twelve feet tall naturally, with three additional feet added by their specialized body-tanks, some of the biggest guns to be employed by any kind of infantry at all. The guns attached to their arms at this moment appeared to be a pair of vulcan cannons that braced themselves against the inside of the Gendarmes' upper arms, and an anti-tank cannon and plasma flamer were attached to their backs for more 'specialized' situations. A pair of pistols that would put standard shotguns to shame were holstered at their sides. Their body tanks gave them the look of shadowy iron golems with spiked fists and red glowing eyes, complete with an overly broad chest, colossal arms, and thick lower body. Despite this, they moved with an almost uncanny grace as they spread out.

With the cougars came the commander, a simple captain with the name 'Michas' on his uniform. All of the Godulan soldiers, even the Gendarmes, saluted him, and the gesture looked very much sincere.

"As you were," Michas said.

Then one of the guards, the braided one, came back out, walking towards the large procession of reinforcements. It soon became clear that this one was no ordinary guard. For one thing, he has a lightsaber on his belt. For another thing, he had a red cloak covering him.

"I see you brought the reinforcements." Taylor Masaki said, saluting to the captain. "Going to make infiltration mighty hard indeed."

"Mister Masaki," Michas acknowledged, saluting in return, "Warlord Maximillian decided that since we were already sending reinforcements to all Coredian military installations, it would not be too much trouble to 'reassign priorities'. We shall deploy as you see fit. The Gendarmes are very adept at spotting enemy incursions. They can sense mental signatures and disposition, like a form of mental radar. A sixth sense if you will. As you can see," he continued as one of the gendarmes replaced his guns and brought out two man-sized meat cleavers, "They are also very capable of defending themselves."

"Of course, the Gendarmes cannot fit into buildings built for people of our size, so we have the Marines as well. And of course the cougars are for swift reaction. All of them have a constant uplink with each other. If anything out of the ordinary happens, they will know exactly where to go and what route to take to 'fix' the issue."

Michas signaled for a group of people nearby. "We've got other cargo to offload! A Spyfly and Storm Hornet swarm, among other things. I'm gonna need some help getting the stuff off."

At the moment, the cougars, intimidating and deadly as they seemed, were presently playing with a couple of tennis balls that one of the marines had tossed before them. They couldn't seem to get enough of the bouncy little things.

The remainder of the cargo was offloaded with a series of grunts and growls as the Coredian and Godulan troops pushed two massive pallets off the freighter. One looked like what appeared to be a clear plastic capsule filled nearly to the brim with a roiling mass of spiders, centipedes, flies, and roaches.

The other, oddly enough, looked like several smaller capsules filled nearly to the brim with yellowjackets.

Captain Michas pointed to the large capsule and shouted, "Crack that one open! We can calibrate the mainframes while they disperse!"

A marine reached under the capsule and pulled out, to a small sense of anachronistic amusement, a crowbar. He then got up on the pallet and thwacked the forked end into the capsule, then pulled. The capsule came apart easily, and for the next few seconds the landing strip was a veritable plague of robotic insectitude. Eventually the cloud dispersed, and Taylor found himself before a small cockroach that was staring at him, chittering happily.

It turned and skittered off to crawl upon the preoccupied Cougars.

Michas walked back and gave Taylor a sheepish grin. "Initial dispersal is always a little unsettling."

No sense in sending troops to blow up the Reactor room if there is none, or is behind a heavy blockade.

IC:
After the Godular Freighter had descended, a smallish vessel (in comparison) pulled into orbit. A landing request was sent to the Theed Base.

This is Hakurabi Transport LF27, requesting permission to land at nearest available docking bay.

After which a few verification procedures were rattled off and the cargo manifest dispatched, mostly mentioning 'security personnel' and 'small arms'.

Indeed, its cargo was pretty much just that, though the so-called 'Security Personnel' did not so much as prevent entry as simply ambushing any intruders. That and what appeared to be battledroids (Wind-up edition), though it was labelled (somewhat truthfully) as 'Cannon Fodder'.

Hataria: Don't forget that as part of the raid they are all fair game. Otherwise the raid would be unpreventable and therefore a godmod. You could have them crippled beyond all possible fighting capacity and captured but not killed if you want, but again, they're fair game.

Come to think of it, why are you sending Commanders and Admirals on this? Commander does not equal Commando. You're practically sacrificing your top brass, who I might add have a different skill set to commandos, to try to break into a facility with probably more than a few talented sharpshooters and skirmishers. You're even sending PILOTS on this! You must lack properly trained operatives for this. That, or your commanders are so long lived they can become both excellent strategists, able to crack a high security facility, and maybe even dodge machinegun fire while they're at it!

You're right. We usually don't expect such a gross skillset mismatch.

IC:
The rear hatch of the transport opened and considerably smaller number (20) soldiers exited, forming into two distinct groups. They carried a variety of weapons based on personal preference, but were also carrying a number of "battledroids", (actually just walking dummies with simple programming capacity, for distraction purposes) folded up for easy storage. However, all of them did posess Maser pistols and Monom blades, worn in various positions for ease of draw and again, personal choice.

The soldiers had a sort of odd feel to them, having had their bodies constructed in almost average proportions. Being mechanoids, they lacked toes, fingernails and genitalia, for they were all classified as totally unnecessary. However they did still have individual faces.

Last exited Commandant GHKA-4628, identifiable only by the yellow bars on his combat vest. Noticing the Jedi approaching them, he walked forward to meet him.

Oddly enough, the mechanoids did attract the attention of Captain Michas and a few of the troopers.

As if inspecting a student's work, they hovered about the various Hakurabian soldiers, getting WAY too close for comfort as they checked facial features and other things.

Michas had to shoosh one of the marines when he whispered something about muppets.

Eventually, Michas decided to ask: "So... how's the AI in there?"

IC: The soldiers dispersed and set up holographic targets (It's device which projects an 'archery target' for testing accuracy. It's also equipped with a shield projector to slow down bullets in order to cut down on collateral damage.) in order to recalibrate their weaponry for atmosphere and gravity.

Using different types of targets for each type of weapon, one could clearly see who preferred what. The majority seemed to prefer what looked like a combination plasma assault rifle/flamethrower, whilst a number of the others favoured a gauss rifle (complete with folding scope). Among the remainder there were a few who carried submachineguns, shotguns and laser rifles. The submachineguns and shotguns have had a few modifications to facilitate accuracy and noise abatement, but otherwise have changed little. They had, however, removed the gunpowder element entirely in favour of rail firing in order to allow for power adjustments.

Whilst configuring their weapons and reloading them, they made small talk with the Godular marines.

OOC: Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

A few details:
In this case the armour is variable passive camoflage. The gauss rifles fire the slugs fast enough to punch through a tank, but they're not usually used for that. The soldiers' helmets support basic night-vision, IR imaging, and simple radio systems. The APR-40 plasma rifles fire either a concentrated beam of accelerated plasma, a 3-round burst of less-concentrated plasma, or can spew it out in flamethrower fashion. The laser rifles are pulse lasers. The submachineguns can vary in power from drop-straight-to-ground to punch through a car, and vary in ROF depending on the required charge. The shotguns can vary from short range spray to medium range concentrated fire.

They also carry small HE grenades, for some infernal reason.

IC:
By the end of the two days the extra defences were pretty much set up. The clockwork droids were sent running around on mock patrols, though they had to be righted again every now and then because some technician in a hurry knocked them over.

In each tower one of the snipers (Gauss Rifle) with their passive camoflage set to a greyish concrete colour crouched and swept the area. A few of the APR-40 wielding soldiers patrolled the premises in pairs, whilst the rest guarded various rooms, with the most guarding the barracks. No sense letting anyone kill the rest of the guards.

OOC: I can SO not see that map. How does one enlarge that thing?

The Godulan Marines had been set into five groups of four, utilizing their reactive camo body armor to make themselves nigh-invisible amidst the various buildings and installations of the complex.

The four Gendarmes roamed out on their own, spreading out to patrol the entirety of the perimeter. Their constant SHTOOM... SHTOOM... SHTOOM... throughout the complex entire made it seem as though several battlemechs were making their rounds.

The cougars spent the time 'sleeping' on top of one of the buildings.

Meanwhile, Captain Michas continued to pester the Hakurabian troops about their cognitive programs.

"Consciousness Transferral? That's a rather one-way procedure last I saw. What if you wanted to retire or got bored of the whole thing? Being stuck in a bot like that might not be stressful now, but trust me when I say it'll only get worse..."
Hakurabi
09-10-2005, 01:56
GHKA by now somewhat irritated by Michas, decided to explain the workings of Hakurabi society. "See, what happens is that there are effectively two seperate symbiotic societies. We were all humans like yourself at one time, on Upsilon Andromedae I. What happens is we all live out our lives on the planet, and at the age of 70 we compulsarily undergo the transfer of consciousness to Upsilon Andromedae II, where we are placed into a mechanical body. Now, the consciousness itself could be compared to that of an AI, and can be transferred between various bodies with the right equipment. We usually spend around ten years simply becoming familiar with this system, before actually deciding on our occupation. Most of us here have been in service for over fifty years now, but I've heard that some of the battlecruiser pilots have been around for centuries. But back to the point. We usually have an occupational body and an out-of-hours body, and after about three of four years with the stock-standard we start designing our own."

Michas found himself smirking at the end of the 'definition'.

"Humans like myself, huh? I'll send that remark to the GR&M head office as a compliment to the realistic look. Only thing human about me anymore is my personality. I'm just like you, mister. One hundred and eighty six years under my belt. The marines don't call me 'old man' because of seniority alone."

He opened his shirt to reveal a very complex, very futuristic, and VERY shiny chest of some matte black metal. Despite the obvious armor appearance, it moved very much like a human chest.

"Neutronium Steel Chassis. Cerametal servomusculature for motility. Neurosynaptic Circuitry enables psionic manipulation. Shit, that's just in the brochure. Most of us left our humanity behind a long time ago, but you know what? There's a lot to miss about it, and I thank whatever higher level deity that's paying attention at the moment that I have a body that can hold a vulcan cannon like one of those Gendarmes out there can use, and I can still go to the barbershop to get my HAIR CUT. The thing about immortality, after a long while you begin to see the little things in a whole new light."

"Our work in robotics had the boon of an initial beneficiary who presented us with mechanized technologies far beyond the ken of anything we were used to. We've been making robots since before we ventured into the stars.

"We focus more or less on the duplication of organic processes. As you can see, my hair grows, my fingernails grow, and if you were to take a chemo test of my skin you would see that it is one hundred percent organic, though far superior to 'standard' flesh. We prefer to call our scale of robotics 'Armitage Grade' Complexity, as truth be told, the only source previously detailing the nature of our robotics was a very old anime. We can duplicate genetic code, as well.

"As a result of our specialization, we found ourselves in a unique position of being able to create robots, or 'tin men' as those of us who have undergone the transfer like to call ourselves, with all the necessary facilities to generate psionic powers normally restricted to those with organic minds. Those Gendarmes outside, as a matter of fact, possess a rudimentary yet effective level of psionic skill that enables them to communicate with other gendarmes via telepathy, as well as initiate a form of clairsentient radar that detects the location and disposition of nearby individuals. It prevents enemy surprise attacks from being completely effective.

"As for me? Why..." Michas brought out his datapad and held it on one finger. Then, with a short flourish, removed his finger from under it. It did not fall. It hovered there in midair until Michas willed it into his hand and put it away. "That's just a parlor trick, truth be told. You will understand fully what I can do should you ever see me in combat."

"Very interesting indeed. Ours was as a result of the perfection of superconductive fullerenes, and it moved to entire mechanical bodies from there. Truth be told, the infantry side of our forces has been largely ignored for quite some time, and mostly focused on vehicles and starships. Yes, before you comment on it, that was a mistake. Fortunately our firearms have not been neglected quite as much, and are surprisingly effective."

GHKA proceeded to remark nonchalantly, "Although I've got the suspicion that we'll be needing your psionics quite soon."

"We delved into the region of superconductors as well, but eventually we discovered means to render those things obsolete in our robots. There are some organic processes that are too efficient to be neglected, so we began adapting and improving upon synaptic and muscular processes.

"I won't comment about your 'mistake' in not pursuing more research into bipedal robotics. Such pursuits are admirable but everybody has their niche. We just happen to focus on robotics more than anybody we've met thus far. None can match the level of complexity we can put forth with the same ease that it takes imperial nations to put out another protocol droid.

"Doubtless you have your own specialization, and I won't knock whatever it may be.

"As for firearms... we always preferred to stay nice and simple, for the most part. We found a bullet model a while back that is quite effective in turning enemy infantry and armored vehicles into foul smelling puddles in short order. Of course the marines utilize more modern weapons, but truth be told, those flux rifles they use may be good with the killings, but a good old slug of Straight Arrow will just plain make the bad guys DEAD.

"Anyway, enough with the technological dickwaving, as it were. I must go see to my marines. Leave them alone for thirty minutes and they start reinforcing things out of boredom. You'd almost think our defensive installations were made by orks, people just keep tacking stuff on."

As the two counterparts talked, Taylor prepared the base for the enemy. "He he he! I'm sure they'll love this warm reception." He snickered as he prepared a fire trap. Then he headed back into the research center, where his siblings were also preparing traps and stuff. "Trap 1 is done."

"Trap 2 is set up." Daniel smirked. Taylor noticed that the trap was a melee of shuriken and kunai, as well as electrified floors, walls and ceilings. The electricity will fry whoever comes in, and just in case they're immune due to armor, the shuriken and kunai will release, turning the enemy into pincushins.

"Excellent." The brothers walked up to the next trap. Jacob was forming it with his alchemy.

"Trap 3 is a hole in the ground." He said, as a powerful genjutsu was released to hide the hole, which was full of spikes at the bottom.

"Trap 4, here we go!" They cried out. Trap four was a serious machine gun and rapid-fire blaster field. Not even the Jedi could block all the rounds once they're fired.

They concluded the walk by entering a nearly empty room with two datacubes suspended in two sparkling antigravity tanks. Those are the plans the enemy want. Brianna Masaki, the younger sister of cousin Jacen and a computer whiz, was hard at work with the fifth and final trap, tapping away on her laptop.

"You done yet, Rina?" I asked. That's her nickname, as she hates Brianna with a passion.

"Almost." She grinned. Her typing soon ended, and a couple of beeps piped out of the laptop. "Done! The final trap has been set."

"Alright!" I smirked. This one is sure to be quite the doozy. With that done, us Masakis piled into an elevator that took us down into the command center of the base, where Grandpa was waiting, along with his usual cup of rice tea.

"You've completed the traps, I see. Now we wait for them to arrive." The old man said in a comfortable chair, sipping his tea.

"Yeah. We are quite the welcoming commitee. They will almost deserve the goods if they manage to make it to the final trap. Almost." I commented with a snicker.

Near the Coast of Coredia, around 2:30 AM, something was riseing out of the water, it looked like a fin of a Shark, but much larger. It was the Fin of a Hammerhead Class Battlesub, a Cassiopeian sub used for fighting on waterworlds. "We have reached the coast, sir." a Sailor said to Taan'kaan who was on the Bridge of the sub. OOC: 6,000 subfighters is a bit much. Even that can be easily seen from space if one uses magnetogravimetric detection systems (Yes, I'm making that up. No, you can't steal it). If you have two or three subfighters for every one sub, that would be great. Either way, they're dead.

Hakurabi: The Makos are in orbit overhead. You're sending the buggies and such into the general area being covered by the Mako Star Destroyers, right?

CW: I use Gravitonic/Mass Detectors and a CE Passive Array for the most part. So I guess I do use that stuff, only not in one detector.

Send them to Davy Jones' locker.

"I always wondered who Davy Jones was," Achaedus murmured to himself as he brought up a holomap of the situation as a whole. Twelve Makos overhead, with reinforcements waiting on the wings in case somebody decides to make something of it. And a pair of new 'Surprises' rested dead still on the seafloor, nigh indistinguishable from the surroundings, waiting for the opportunity to strike.

"Oh well, all Makos in area open fire. Inform Maximillian to stand ready in case they make the attempt to breach."

And with that, the 12 Mako Star Destroyers opened up, coordinating and focusing volleys of flux cannon fire and phase torpedos to wipe out each of the larger subs one by one in quick succession. The Flux Cannons were modified before the attack to enable them to shoot into the water, and the torpedos were... well... torpedos.

And a simple message was sent down to the enemy fleet, with no real concern as to whether it was heard by anybody or not.

Peekaboo, we bomb you!

Ran'cuai Tnona'iahfa, Tenc'uo, Tanya, Taan'kaan, Commander Canitia Hyiua and the Storm Commandos were already ready (OOC:It's the attack of the Puns!) as the sub they were on was riseing to the surface. Suddenly, The sub rocked. "We are under attack!" the Captian said over the innercom. The sub was soon on the surface, 3 subs were sunk by the attack.

Boats were soon coming out, small Life rafts that were used for SpecOps landing. Nadia looked up. "it looks like we were Spotted by The Makos." she said.

OOC: Yes, 6000 submersible objects is still a LOT. And yes - They're just going to the hotspot.

The combat buggies are fitted with a 80mm cannon on the rear and a 40mm grenade launcher on the front. Both are turrets.

IC:
The Buggies reached the hotspot as Makos opened fire, and noticed the sub which had surfaced. As they added their firepower to the bombardment, they decided to send a message of their own to the would-be invaders.

"I'm sorry, I'm that's something I cannot allow to happen.", with chuckles among the pilots (mechanoid) of the buggies. ("Hah! It's 2001 all over again!")

Incinedary rounds were set to airburst over the area, creating a burning layer on the water. The 80mm cannons fired high explosive shells at the emerging subs.

Some infantry had arrived on the scene, and were holding APR-40 rifles, and were firing at the survivors.

As the lifeboats approached the shore, the infantry switched to using the flamethrower function on their rifles, effectively creating a wall of flame along the coast, with brief interruptions as the soldiers ejected expended fuel bottles and locked others on. (yes, they do use small fuel tanks)

More Makos were entering orbit overhead, in threes and fours, and adding their firepower to the strike. Salvo after increasing salvo fell upon the Hatarian sub fleet, and several dozen Starbolts also arrived, focusing their fire on the life rafts.

Meanwhilst, the NorthEast Garrison, hustling and bustling from the news of the latest 'incursion' had just finished preparing its artillery. Every cannon, including two of the colossal Guns of Archona, turned towards the hotspot now, and seismologists in nearby countries would have noted both the low thud of the combined report and a minor seismic disturbance resulting from the sheer impact of their combined recoil.

As the guns reloaded for the next surge of artillery, Maximillian took in a nostalgic breath of the gunsmoke.

"Ah... smells like the old days."

It would have seemed at first as though somebody had decided to carpet bomb the entire area with bunker busters. Of course, care was taken not to include any nearby allied forces in the targeting area.

Sadly for Harukabi, something was about to happen that would make them see that they were helpless against Human and Cassiopeian Brains.

One thing about Cassiopeian Subs and Subfighters were that they were EMP Proof, just in case they were fighting against someone with EMP Bombs, but since the enemy didn'y have any EMP weapons, the Cassiopeian decided to use a EMP Bomb on them.

The Storm Commandos were useing Earth Weapons that didn't use electronics, such as Guns, Crossbows, Knives and others. Taan'kaan's lightsaber was EMP proof. (Canitia's Lightsaber is also EMP Proof, and she has it on her, hiden in her Stormtrooper like armor.)

The EMP Bomb was on a Cruise Missile that was lunched from the sub, before that sub was blasted to bits, 10 subs were gone, along with 120 Subfighter and 6 of the boats. The Missile flew over to the beach and blew up, sending a EMP wave that would (hopefully) knock out the Harukabi Troops and Weapons.

OOC: Yep, I am evil.

"Spread it out, start using the disintegrators. And inform Maximillian that the next salvo should be cluster frags."

The Mako Star Destroyers soon began adding Protium Arc Disintegrator fire into their continuing onslaught, intending to vaporize every single landing craft in the area with a carpet bombing of disintegrating energies. Veritable nuclear bombs in a beam, the Protium Arcs would ensure that there would be much pain.

"Sir, the Hatarians launched an EMP bomb against the Hakurabi forces in the area."

"Well, that would be almost utterly useless unless the Hakurabians are using all mechanoids in that fight. And even then they're liable to be EMP shielded. I'm more surprised that they haven't attempted to retaliate against us. Oh well, continue the bombardment, I'll have the other vessels keep an eye on the sky to prevent air- and spaceborne forces from attempting to intervene on their behalf."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Way ahead of you, half-wit. Why don't you just worry about the space theatre like you're supposed to and let your superior officer do the ground work, kay thanks bye."

Maxie turned back to the control center and finished working out targeting selections.

"Salvo two, on my mark."

Half the continent shuddered with the combined 'click' of artillery prepping to fire.

"Mark."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There it is again!"

"Same magnitude?"

"Yeah! This is so wierd! What's causing these earthquakes?"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Smells like... Victory," Maximillian rasped as the smoke cleared.

Despite the fact that only a few hundred artillery cannons were targeted to the enemy positions, it would doubtless have seemed as though the entire sky had decided at that point to spew a veritable meteor storm of razor blades and cluster bombs upon the Hatarian fleet.

On board the Kingdom Come, Achaedus had to smirk to himself as he watched the situation progress.

"Soft touch? Us? Surely thou jests!"

OOC: They're Mechanoids by nature. They're obviously going to be shielded to quite some extent to this sort of attack. You have around two seconds of lagged reactions and half a second of total blackout. The explosion would do something similar to your guys.

You're forgetting the BURNING FUEL all over the water... And the HUGE AMOUNTS OF FLAME AND SMOKE... Say, if you're using guns, wouldn't trying to wade into searing plasma jets be kinda suicide? It's more than hot enough to set off any ammunition you have.

EDIT: It's because a pressurised plasma stream would have been compromised by introducing the fuel directly into the barrel, hence it is ejected in a stream from a tube under the barrel. If it had been introduced like a traditional modern flamethrower (through the barrel), a back-mounted and highly vulnerable pack would be needed, and would not be usable as an actual combat rifle. If it were introduced within the barrel, the cooling system would be less efficient and you run the risk of explosion during use. So the fuel burning system is technically a flamethrower, yet different. There's the superheated plasma jet extending around 20cm from the barrel, then there's the less concentrated plasma 'stream' which ranges up to about 1.5m, and finally there's the fuel stream, which is a slow burning compound, becoming extremely hot, lobbed up to 20m.

You know, If you did use enough EMP to kill my troops, it'd have to be more than enough to fry everyone in the area.

IC:
The soldiers were unfazed by the sudden sensory cut (safety measure) and continued firing, albeit blindly for a brief amount of time. This drill had been gone over a thousand times as a matter of practicality.

If the Hatarians were using EMP weapons, then by inference they must rely on weaponry that did not use electronics. Hence they would probably lack any electronic anti-recoil systems or extra sensors. That, and metal could be melted.

"I hope for their sake they don't wander into the plasma jets..."

When they checked their Force-concentration scanners (effectively locating any Jedi, both alignments, around), they were shocked to notice two signatures at a nearby beach.

"Holy- They've brought in a couple of Jedi! We're going to need to call in specialists for these guys..."

The soldiers collected up the remains and decided to make a retreat, making a last thermal sweep of the ocean and the Commando team. After gathering up their equipment, two soldiers remained and hid, watching the group.

The three cargo vessels came to a relatively soft landing, and opened up as soon as their last respective landing struts had hit the tarmac. Out of the first and second cargo vessels issued more Godulan Marines, Gendarmes, and Cougars, as well as a pair of strange spiderlike tanks.

Out of the third cargo vessel came a small cadre, no more than thirty, of what appeared to be four armed and surprisingly feral looking terminators wielding strange weapons that glowed a threatening radioactive green. They looked like what terminators would have looked like if they were supposed to infiltrate a society of werewolves. Their spines and claws were emphasized for a more threatening posture, and they moved with an unnatural grace despite their clunky weapons.

General Michas waited at the edge of the landing area, and gave the Kython BoneGrinders a perplexed look.

"Are we expecting more than the usual share of trouble?" He asked to no one in particular.

"Sir," came what appeared to be the lieutenant in command of this group, "We've been assigned to assist in any defense operations against a Hatarian incursion. We laid waste, but Achaedus and Maximillian always prefer caution with respect to submarine-borne landing fleets."

"What are the Kythons for?"

They are cautious today, for they have learned from their elders that humans pack powerful weapons and are not to be underestimated in their cunning either.

"They are here, somewhere." Raptor 1 cooed in her native language, sniffing the ground softly.

And so began a deadly game of cat and mouse, both sides carefully trying to stalk one another, and avoid being ambushed.

Both sides lost track of one another soon enough, and thermal imaging proved worthless. As a sort of compass they had the advantage of force-scanners, but they only pointed in the general direction of their elusive prey. They noticed that the wavering on their 'compass' began turning, signalling that they were getting close.

They moved to a nearby tree to prepare, and noticed a pair of raptors looking up a tree. Incidentally, their 'compass' pointed towards the tree, too.

Their internal messaging system (no audio) fired back and forth. Soon they reached a conclusion on their plan of attack.

"Looks like they've found the commandos. I suppose that bird call we heard wasn't just ambience."

"Right. Well, we're certainly NOT going to bother them, so we should give them a little hand. Alright, ISNA and AJSO, climb the nearest tree and sweep the target for movement. KRDJ, get the cannon ready."

"Shooting birds out of trees, are we now, Captain?"

"Shut up."

The cannon, of course, was not as simple as a kinetic fire weapon. It fired a concentrated beam of 'Force'. The analogy of a blind man being unaffected by a torch came to mind with the development of this paticular weapon. It was a heavy, shoulder mounted weapon that could be tuned from harmless, to benificial, and the weapon mode. The weapon mode fired a very concentrated pulse of 'Force' and would give whatever poor Jedi who was targetted get a splitting headache.

KRDJ used the more accurate scanner built into the cannon, and identified the force-users.

Meanwhile, the two snipers climbed the nearby tree and unholstered their gauss rifles. They switched to passive cloak, still ice cold, but now simply appearing to be similar to the backdrop. They set up special bracings and a platform to allow them to use their long rifles without having to worry about being catapulted off the tree by the force of their rifles, nor have to worry about limb strength.

There were two loud 'Thoom's as the cannon fired pulses at the Dark Jedi. Then they packed it up and hurried off to another tree before they fired back.

The net result of this was a quick Force-Jamming field (Remember, It's a LACK OF force, so there's no such thing as 'Anti-Jam'...) and a screaming gunner firing pulse after pulse of superconcentrated force at Imperia. The captain followed through with his spray with a parry and a quick thrust of his blade.
