The Plutonian Empire
18-09-2005, 14:24
**After no activity in the dating front, the President finally focuses on something else and gives the go-ahead for the final phase of the Pisces Centauri Project--the detonation of the chronobomb to create a new star.**
*On Deneb II, in Nuke Factories, a group of technicians are loading the van-sized bomb onto the missile that will take it to the detonation point a few lightyears away from Deneb.*
"So, Charlie, you and your three wives finally made up, huh?"
"Yeah, and they're glad we all did! We had a damn good time in be--hey, why you drinkin' hot tea when you're not supposed to when standing right above the chronobomb?!"
"Whoops, sorry." *Places cup of tea on the railing of the aluminum grating holding them above the bomb.*
*The P.A. is heard*
"Danny Johnson, call for you on line 4. Call for Danny Johnson on line 4."
"Hmm? I wonder what's up...." *leaves, forgeting about his glass of tea*
"Sheesh, Jason, you'd think he'd get tired of glass and join us in the space age." *goes to the ladder to climb up to the next level to get the cup of tea*
*Jason chuckes and shrugs while punching in the last of the codes into the bomb detonation mechanism*
**A few miles away, a light to moderate earthquake begins...**
"Oh, shit!" *charlie hurries up the ladder, and gets onto the aluminum grating*
*The ground jolts*
"Oh, cra--"
------------------------------------------
**In Pisces Centauri on Pluto in the Sol system (yes, THIS sol system), residents look up in the sky as a star sharply brightens in a matter of seconds**
(OOC EDIT: I made the apparent speed of light instantaneous for dramatic purposes and for this post only)
*2 hours later*
"CODE RED! CODE RED!"
**At once, medical personell all over the city rush to prepare for a MASSIVE influx of refugees just as the refugees arrive in the plutocons. Many are Deneb-Plutonians (plutonian citizens born in the Deneb system), but most are Belle Hadean. They come in by the thousands. In space, the planet is soon being swarmed by mainly commercial chrono-jet transports. 747's, 727's, plutocons, concordes, you name 'em. Add to that the hundreds of Belle Hadean transports, mainly tugged in by plutonian space-planes.
The city virtually exponentially increases in size overnight, as hundreds of thousands of survivors trickle in. The hospitals soon overflow, and triage operations move out onto the streets (the city is domed and pressurized, like any Imperial Colony on hostile worlds). The smell of the dead and dying quickly fill the air. Standing in the streets, one would hear painful moans all around them, as many suffer from 3rd degree sunburns, some fatally, some leaving permanent scarring. Even the meanest, evilest humans would probably at shed at least a tear at this sight unfolding at a rapid pace.
As for the President? he survived, but he sustained 2nd degree sunburns on the right side of his body, along with his daughter.**
The Final Tally:
Approximately 4 billion dead, 300 million missing, 200 million surviving in Pisces Centauri.
Main star (Deneb) dead--exploded, completely gone, save for an extremely dense planetary nebula of debris
Companion star (Deneb Companion) dead--exploded.
Denebia Hadea, Deneb II, and the planets orbiting Deneb Companion all destroyed.
Belle Hades and its two moons now lifeless rocks like mercury, but still geolocally active.
**A few days later, President Stauffer addresses the Empire, and orders all flags to fly at half-staff for one Earth month in light of the tragedy.**
