Explanation Damage power Rating: The power of the weapon.

Explanation of Area of effect Rating: How wide the effect or "blast," if you will, of the weapon.

Explanation of Accuracy Rating: How accurate the weapon is. (in favorable firing conditions, apply modifiers appropriately during RP situations)

Explanation of Rate of fire Rating: How fast the weapon can fire.

Explanation of Range Rating: The range (distance) that the weapon has.

Explanation of Energy Requirement: How much energy does the weapon need to operate.

Explanation of "Damage Type": {What basic trait of the weapon causes the damage}, {What type of effect/damage is caused. IOW: Does is peirce the shields and armor or does it cause lage concussive damage to the hull. Each has situation when it would be desirable}

Explanation of Price tag: How much it costs to make, duh.

Energy-dispursing crystal matrix-enhanced tritanium
Damage Resistance Rating: 20
Impact Resistance: 12
Energy Resistance: 23
Heat Resistance: 19
EMP Resistance: 22
Piercing: 15
Force: 10
Concussive: 8
Solid Munition: 11

Now, we need to work this into a solid and formal system. Thoughts?

How bout creating a rating system that is two parts--one for experts, and one for newbies, so the newbs can understand FT rp'ing easier. :)

well im currently (dueing to seeing the orginal thread thats from and something on the ESUS forums) working on makeing a sort of "earth" but for FT (more like a Galaxy or Universe if ya know what i mean).

Im trying to work in a ranking system (and with the rest of my ideas it works with the fleet size and so forth).

My rating system is just for the tech (1-10, 1 being the lowest eg Nuclear and 10 being the highest eg Organic) tho i havent thought of a weapons rateing, maby this can be a joint project?

On the bold: WTF?! Oraginc tech sucks ass compared to heavy metal tech. Nukes > crab armour.

That sucks, I have one every god damned day. And we used organic tech for most of human history. We bred horses that can cary heavy knights, dogs for hunting, we used wooden organic armour. Then we found out that internal combustions engines and metal work a whole hell of a lot better.

An example of advanced tech is extremely powerful energy generation. Not organic crap.

Do you know anything about Sci fi?

ok exsamples of bio tech:-

Babylon 5, Shadows, the ships were Organic, could heal themselves could wipe out fleets with just a single ship.

Vorlons in B5 also used organic ships who also are one of the most powerful races in the show.

Starwars the Yuuzhan Vong.

http://b5tech.com/shadows/shadowships/shadowships.html that will tell you all you want to know about the shadows and more on B5, Biotech is what most FT rpers fear (next to Temporl tech)

now stop flame baiting and if your not going to offer Useful ideas FUCK OFF, can i make it any clearer?

Do you know anything about Sci fi?

Why yes I do.

Babylon 5, Shadows, the ships were Organic, could heal themselves could wipe out fleets with just a single ship.

Star Wars, Death Star, can wipe out fleets and blow up planets.

Vorlons in B5 also used organic ships who also are one of the most powerful races in the show.

Star Wars, The Yuuzhan Vong admit that the Empire would have crushed them like the bugs they are. Only the incompetance of the NR allowed them any success.

StarGate: The Asgard, one of the most advanced races, technological.

StarGate: The Ancients, the most advanced race, technological.

Starwars the Yuuzhan Vong.

See above.

Usefull ideas? Sure, use real units like Joules and Watts instead of meaningless arbitrary made up numbers for ratings.

Since it's your idea, I nominate you to work out the math.

Now, what's the average damage a railgun firing antioxygen that has been energized to the point of becoming plasma do? It's firing the equivolent of nearly four pounds of antioxygen per shot.

Or, would you rather we assign an "arbitrary made up number" for it?

Your watt and joule numbers? Made up on the spot. If you want to claim 'realism', use stuff you built yourself. In reality. Doing all the physics (Coincidentally also superceding Einstein/ Planck, but I'm sure you're smart enough to do that within the next ten minutes, yes?), then translating all of it into working engineering, and eventually building it.

Then you can rant about realism.

Incidentally, he who sits in the glasshouse with imaginary matter, neutron star density ships and shields ignoring basic geometry or energy density in order to have vacations in the core of the sun shouldn't throw stones at the organic technology people. You might break the glass...

Four pounds of anti-oxygen( assuming it is annhilating with an egual mass of oxygen at 100% effeciency) would give a yield of 77.9 megatons. The thermal energy is inconseguential next to that.

The KE would be equivalent to 474.9 megatons, for a grand total of 552.8 megatons.

I am advocating using real units not real physics. Had you read my posts you would have known that. I don't care how you get your mega-death beam, just measure its destructive power in known unit.

Then you can rant about realism.

Real units, not realism. Learn the differance.

Wow, I can recognize the weaknesses of organic chemicals compared to heavy metal tech and thus conclude the heavy metal tech is superior. Yeah I must be a hypocrite

look if we dont want to use real units and just want to use a SIMPLE system shut up and put up ok, just get it into your head we are not all sciance brats we dont all know what real unit would fit that one weapons, just give up.

Then use your "simple" system. That won't stop me from trying to get you all to use real units though, nor will it stop me from using them in.

Damn. Just... Damn. I need one of those for my backyard. Ultimate theft deterrant device. I guarantee I can't miss.

Part of the problem I see is the simple fact that not everyone can handle the larger numbers with ease for this type of item. I'm just trying to come up with a simplified system to cover them, while keeping the complex for those who can.

Yes, well that's why you provide a handy guide made by those who can handle larger numbers.

The whatever-their-name-is, Freelancer. Almost conquered everything thanks to organic ships that were real hard to destroy, weapons that required 0 energy and the fact that they took control of people, ehich lead to their control over several systems without a shot fired.

Your rail gun yield? Sure can.

552.8 megatons could vapourize 796 billion liters of water. It could vapourize 444 billion kg of Tungsten, which has a really high melting and vapourization points.

It would create enough heat to cause 3rd degree burns for a 155.3 km radius, it could collapse most modern day residential structures in a 58km radius, it could cause near total fatalities in a 22 km radius, cause enough ionizing radiation to cause 50-90% mortality rates for a 10.4 km radius. The fireball would last for 77.2 seconds would have a minimum radius of 5.4 km, an optimal airburst radius of 6.6 km and a ground contact airburst radius of 8.7 km.

EDIT: It could also make a perfectly hemi-spherical crater 14.5km in diameter in hard granite rock.

Would that be the Domkavosh, or their genetically-engineered guardians, the Nomads? Ah, the Nomads -- the perfect example of a plot device in motion. Or did you really think that you could make an energy weapon that uses '0 energy'? And of course, they're the perfect example of why trying to tag on an uneducated scientific explanation and arbitrary, made-up figures to none-existent technology is a futile endeavour, and can accomplish nothing but ruining an otherwise-good story (or RP, as the case may be).

Let the technology rule your RPs, and they'll be boring. Simple.
