Forged in Fire

His eyes suddenly glazed upon a magnificant sight. A sight which his mind could barley comprehend. Large towers, machines everywhere, industry...civilization. He felt like he was in the air, above a grand city. He looke down at the largest and broadest road and suddenly he was there, on the side of the street watching. Troops in blue trenchcoats, with golden buttons, and followed by mighty machines of war like he'd never seen. Suddenly a roar occured above him, like the sky itself was ripping open. He gazed up to see metallic birds flying in the skies.

"This is the civilization that is to come..." said a voice which echoed eveywhere.

He looked around attempting to find the voice, but couldn't. Suddenly his ability to look around froze has he simply gazed upon the marching troops.

"I have chosen this civilization to be glorious...it is your destiny to unite these people--your people. Be it by the pen or the sword, it matters not," said the echoing voice. Then just like that everything went black.

Solomon was woken up by the sounds of gunfire. He sat up in his bed and reached over for the rifle next tohis bed. A few more shots rang out, thats when he realized they were from outside, and probably just some more sporadic fighting. Nothing to be concerned about. He looked over and noticed a woman sleeping quietly in the bed next to him. He sighed, he didn't even remeber anything from last night--save that he and his friends had a few drinks. Then again, alochol was the only thing worth living for anymore. He got out of bed and made his way to a small bar on the other side of room. He poured himself a glass of wine. He sat down in a nearby chair and sipped his glass and began to ponder on the dream he just had.

He remebered the great and tall towers, the marching men, the machines of war that he'd never seen before, and most of all the metallic birds of the sky. Not mention the voice which spoke to him. Was it all real or just a dream? No, a vision. A vision of what this hell will become once it is unified, if thats even possible. Though who could unify it, surely not himself. He barley had three thousand men who followed him, and they only did so using the theory of strength in numbers. His mind pondered on the subject. He knew he wasn't a military man, and thus would never be able to lead his men into combat.

"Hmmm...there is always Jordan," he said to himself outloud. He knew Jordan had at skill as military tactics, he'd proved it in the past during several battles against the other mobs who roamed this city. That also solved the problem of organizing this mob of men into something like the men in his vision. He knew he'd have to speak with Jordan. He got dressed in his normal clothing, some blue jeans, a tattered shirt and a leather jacket and began to walk out of the room. Thats when he remebered the woman still in the room. She'll see herself out, he thought then continued with his bussiness.

He walked out into the main section of his headquarters, which use to be a large shopping mall. He looked around, as usually nobody was up when he was up, save a few. Those few where the men he considered to be a friends and allies. It was dangerious to trust anyone but he wanted to have someone he could trust. The few that were up where not the ones he wanted to talk to, but they might know where Jordan was. As he walked up, the largest man in the group who was more table muscle than real muscle and went by the name Morgan, waved at distance to Solomon which caught the attention of the others. As he walked up Solomon was greeted by the other two: ones name was Kendrick a former loner with long dark brown hair which he had in a ponytail, and the other was the real one he trusted a well fit man by the name of Scott, who was surprisingly bald.

"Hey Solomon, enjoy yourself last night?" asked Kendrick.

"I guess so, when I woke up I don't remeber a thing. Though she didn't look all that great," said Solomon.

"She? Meaning only one right?" laughed Morgan.

"Yes..." said Solomon dryly.

"Hey, if thats what you believe man. Though I saw two or three of them with you," said Morgan.

"Yes it is what I believe. Now where is Jordan?" asked Solomon.

"Where do you think?" replied Scott, "Still in his bed, the lazy bum."

"Not for long," said Solomon before marching off.

After quickly making his way to the other end of the former shopping mall, where Jordan's quarters was he marched right up to Jordan's bedroom and went to open the door. Not to his surprise, it was locked. Though it still sparked anger in him as he stepped back and kicked the door, causing it to sling open. In the darkness movements could be seen as Solomon stomped into the room.

"Get up bum, I've got something useful for you to do," shouted Solomon.

"Go away," mummbled Jordan from the darkness of his room.

"What?" asked Solomon in near shock.

"Go aw-" replied Jordan before being interrupted.

By this time Solomon had pulled out his handgun and opened up fire into the darkness of the room. Screams and furtinature falling over could be heard in the room as Jordan scrammbled for cover. Solomon only stopped fire when all six rounds had been used in the gun.

"Get dressed and meet with me at the planning room, got it?" asked Solomon.

"Yes sir..." said a voice from the darkness of the room.

---

After gathering the other three, Solomon made his way to the planning room which use to be an old theater. The room was large, and the projection screen which was onced used to display moves was now being used to display a map of the city, though much smaller so that it was useable. Solomon stood there with his arms crossed and a grim look on his face. Ten minutes and no Jordan.

"God help him if he went back to sleep," muttered Solomon.

Suddenly one of the multiple doors into the theater room opened and in walked a tall man with short black hair. He yawled as he walked in, and he held an M1 Grande in one of his hands.

"So what was so important you had to shoot at me to get me here," asked Jordan.

Solomon sighed internally. One the men in this room would ever speak to him like that and the only ones he'd allow to speak to him like that. Anyone else he would have shot to keep ruling the others with fear. Suddenly he snapped back into reality.

"I had a vision," said Solomon, "And in my vision, I am to rule this nation as its ruler and bring order to it. At least, thats how I saw the dream."

The room was silent for a whole minute before anyone spoke up. Finally Scott broke the ice.

"I think you may have had on too many drinks," said Scott.

"Yea, man, why would you have a vision," asked Morgan.

Solomon's eyes shot over at Morgan. "You calling me a liar?" exclaimed Solomon.

Morgan rose both hands up in front of him in a sign of non-aggression. "No man, I just don't see why you'd just suddenly have a vision."

"I'm not here to argue with you all about weather this vision is real, what matters is that I think its real. Now Jordan I've got some questions for you," exclaimed Solomon.

"Shoot," replied Jordan.

"First, any chance we can get this mob of thugs together into an organized mob of thugs? Second, what would be your stratgey for taking over this city?" asked Solomon.

Jordan raised an eyebrow, "To the first, I'd suggest some kind of rally to gain you support. If you want to begin immiedately, then no I cannot form them into organization. Though if you let me, I can use my skills to win you the battles you need. To the second, I suggest we hit the east part of the city first, then follow up and over the north, the west is uncontrolled, and we of coarse have the south."

"Fine, any questions from any of you? You'll all be put into some kind of command position, so I hope can use a weapon of some kind," said Solomon.

No questions...

---

The men were gathered on the lower floor of the shopping mall. They stood in a mob and talked amoungst themselves about how they didn't like this meeting, their personal lives, and other nonsense. Upon on the lower floor, the four 'Commanders' as they were referred to which was Morgan, Scott, Kendrick, and Jordan all stood in some fashion of attention. Suddenly Solomon appeared on the upper floor of the former shopping mall next to the 'Commanders'. Immiedately the room got silent.

"My people..." started Solomon, "I believe we have lived in anarchy for much too long. We cannot allow ourselves to wallow in what few luxuries we have left. I believe it time we take a step in the right direction and unify this city and begin to establish some form a civilization."

The crowd muttered and shifted a bit, nobody appeared to be happy about this. Solomon grinned, he expected as much, though he knew how to deal with such dissent.

"Whatver plunder you find in our conquests, is yours. Money, gold, food, women, men, whatever your find it is yours!" exclaimed Solomon.

Suddenly a ripple of cheers errupted threw the crowd, with people waving their guns in the air. Though as the cheering settled down one of the men shouted out.

"Are you all mad? This wacko is asking us to go and die so he can rule a city while we still survive day by day," he exclaimed, "I propose we-"

Before the man could get another word out a hail of bullets cut him down from the upper stories. All of the 'Commanders' had opened up fire killing not only the dissenter, but the five people standing around him.

"Any other objections," exclaimed Solomon. Again, silence filled the room.

He then turned to Scott and the others and smiled. "Then lets get started."

OOC: Very nicely written, although some of the scene setting was mildly unconvincing.
