Communiqué from The Right Honourable Sir George Fredericks, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, UKIN

Lords, Ladies, and Gentlemen, good day to all of you,

Whilst I know that our nation, the United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland, has not always been the most forthright in world affairs in the past, and although there presently stands a plethora of alliances and collaborations between a broad host of nations and their siblings, His Majesty's Government (HM Government) has decided to establish a new League to serve in the interest of both the UKIN and such brother and sister nations that might wish to join such an organisation.

The sort of association proposed by HM Government operates on three principles - peace, strength, and economic growth. It is HM Government's firm belief that these three pillars along with the fourth - the will to be true to the other three - shall enable each State that may wish to enter the proposed League to prosper. After all, strength ensures the peace that gives the economy the room it needs to grow and without a growing economy, the strength to defend the peace shall be lacking.

HM Government shall set no limits upon those who might apply for entry save that their economy, and their hearts, be strong. This association shall be apolitical in its outlook and primarily economic and defensive in its focus, consisting of a Consortium for Honest Commerce and a Council for League Defence.

We in HM Government await your response and wish you and your citizens the best of fortunes.

Sincerely,

The Rt Hon Sir George Fredericks, KL, MP, CS, PC
Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development

The Incorporated Sarzonian Government wishes to express its keen interest in possible membership in the League of Associated Nations and their Dominions (LAND). Looking forward to possible membership in LAND,

The Kingdom of Philthealbino,

We, The Kingdom of Philthealbino, are intrested in becoming a part of LAND.

We are keen to learn more about this, mainly is it an attempt to rival the UN?

The Muesilanian Government would like to become a member of LAND. We have an ever improving economy, and we are a member of the UNA, a peace organisation, providing strong forces to their protectorate army since its foundation.

We hope that all of this will help secure the place we wish.

Thanks in advance, whatever decision you make.

President of Muesilania
Head of the UNA

Subject: Your query

Your Excellency,

The League of Associated Nations and their Dominions (LAND), despite its rubric, does not propose to be like the United Nations, but to serve as a mutually beneficial association of sovereign nations and their dominions or protectorates. Admittedly, certain similarities between LAND and the UN do exist.

Like the UN, LAND supports the principles of peace, security, and prosperity. Both organisations are crafted to respect the sovereignty of member nations and have structures to support economic development. Unlike the UN [on NS], LAND will not compel member-nations to change their internal politics, such as their stance on capital punishment or the possession of colonies (although genocide or similar unconscionable acts will result in immediate expulsion), or to enact policies that diminish their national sovereignty. The exceptions to these protections of national sovereignty are the requirements to defend or otherwise assist member-nations in defensive wars or in times of dire crisis (natural disasters, etc.) and a modest fund to support member-nations suffering economic depression.*

In case of civil war within a member-nation, LAND may serve as a mediator to both sides, but other member-nations will not be required to provide assistance to the government faction. (That noted, any member-nation providing assistance to the seditious faction will be immediately expelled for unwanted interference in the internal politics of a nation.)

I hope these points have answered your concerns and that you still wish to join LAND, and if not, I shall be pleased to provide further information. Should Your Excellency’s nation still wish to become a member, the Kingdom of Philthealbino will assuredly be admitted.

Sincerely yours,

The Rt Hon Sir George Fredericks, KL, MP, PC, CS
Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development
UKIN

* = The proposed fund will be administered by the member-nations and may not be used by any single nation without the consensus of the member-nations.

Sir,

Jimnam for a very long time has remained isolationist within world affairs. Our only contact outside our home region has been with your glorious nation. Due to our strong friendship, I would personally like to request membership to the League of Associated Nations and their Dominions.

I await your reply.
