It is nine years after the terrible civil war that rocked our nation. Our enemies continue to trouble us, but we have recovered from the worst effects of the war. Our cities have been rebuilt, but our pride will never heal.

Regardless, as we approach the year 2022 and exceed 40 million in population (ooc: The Soviet Union had about that many when they launched Sputnik in 1957, so it isnt a godmod), it is natural that we begin to conquer space on our own.

Being aware of the increasing market of privately owned spacecraft (ooc: this is 2022, remember, so space tech is really cheap), we have decided to spend $10 billion over the next five years on the construction of a space facility capable of launching large rockets into orbit. In order to do this, however, we request that any nation within 50 miles of us sell a medium-sized island, perhaps 400 square miles , to us to construct the new space base upon. It is necessary for the development of our country in this new era. The price is negotiable- we can provide cargo room on our rockets to you if you agree.

OOC: Do you want to come in contact with the branch of the Eternals race that pratices that younger races and in exchange grants them grant life spans and powerful technologies and the promise of Eternal paradise to the faithful?

to give you an idea of the size of the russian population they lost like 23 million (probably more) in world war 2 and that was much less then half their population

A great and mighty ship of the Eternals many miles long that give out a aura of silver white light as if it were a small star. The ship descended upon the capital of Athiesism. There it blocked out the sun the only thing and blackened all lights in the city. The only giving off any light was the great ship that shone in the place of the sun filling the sky with silver white light. Then a voice mighty and powerful said in a voice that shoke the Earth," We have heard you calling in the night and we have come to offer you the chance of salvation the only thing you have to do is believe in the Eternals. Hallowed are the Eternals!"

Out of the air came a shower of many gems and jewels that were given as gifts to all the people of the city below.

Astounded, the city skipped a heartbeat. The mood of everyone was of confusion, shock, and then fear. Then, realization. It had always been the government's official position that we were not alone, that all these strange sightings were true. And there it was, a beautiful sign of the truth. Space, the last frontier, was finally open.

It was time to take off.

The same voice continued," We are the Eternals we have come to offer the chance for eternal life and paradise. If you only believe truly the Eternals as your lords and saviors then this will come true."

To tell the truth, it was insane. In a word, bizzare.

Noone had expected it to happen. They had been spotted all over the globe. "UFOs", they used to call them. Why did they come now? What had happened?

President Mark, dressed informally as always, paced in times of great stress. He knew it just made him more nervous, but when he was in deep thought it was impossible to notice. Walking back in forth, in an unending circle, he pondered the options layed out before him.

There was no point in keeping it secret- the entire world knew by now. It was simply ridiculous. He believed in UFOs, as did everyone else in the nation. It just seemed so strange that they finally emerged.

Their demands were unusual. Requesting an atheist nation to accept a savior? Were they honest, or did they plan to enslave? It was time to find out. Mark always thought that at some point in his life he would need to show great courage. He had only half-beleived it, until now. It was time to make contact. Perhaps talks with them would sort it out.

Summoning his bodyguards, he headed into the city square, pushing his way past the croud until he was right under the amazing spacecraft.

Hearing the story of a giant alien spacecraft hovering over the nation of Athiesism the RussoSoviet Empire sprang into action. They immediatly sent all available jets to identify it. Word came back soon enough, it was true! Immediatly conscription began and everyone possible was dug in to protect against possible invasion. All production was halted and focused on building the latest military objects, soon Tc847's were rolling off the assembly lines, and the experimental MiG-5846 was coming into full mass production. The entire nation pitched in to help. Men not fit to fight began building weapons, women began making bullets, and all the scientists were called to begin making something that might combat this new and strange threat.

The ship hovered above awaiting the response of the people's leaders to the offer they had been given. Through the air the light generated by the ship in a way such as that they formed a great map of the galaxy that they were in. The map showed ever star and planet and all worlds habitable to humans were marked with a green circle around them. Also the mean while a human representative of the Eternals came down upon a beam of light and then he said," I am here to represent the Eternals. They themselves do not come as their mere presence would overwhelm you all as you are not use to the presence of such pure, ancient, and powerful beings. If any of you doubt the power of the Eternals then I non-Eternal will prove as the Eternals do not ask for your blind faith.”

The governor of an island in the Aegean was watching the news when all of a sudden a picture of the Eternal spacecraft showed up. "What the ***!? Call the Primarch!" he called to his assistant. "Primarch, apparently a spacecraft has appeared over the Athiesism capital."

"Okay.... let's act calmly here. No need to panic. Just act calmly... very calmly...." Primarch breathes deeply and relaxes. "Use a satellite to take images of the place. Send a jet over there to watch proceedings."

Ten minutes later a jet with 5 people was speeding off towards Athiesism.

President Alldredge was just about to leave for a fundraiser when the SecDef ran up to him with what appeared to a be a transmission report in his hand. “Sir,” he spoke grimily, “we have reports of a spacecraft holding over the capital of Athiesism. It appears non threatening though.”

“Damn, how did they slip past the cruisers on patrol?”

“Sir…. We just don’t know, but the ship is miles in size and is now easily visible though satellite images.”

“Ok, launch the battlegroup Amorphous, (said group has 2 Athens-Class SSF Carriers [Space Superiority Fighter], 7 Dadealus-Class Cruisers, and 5 Hiigara-Class Heavy Cruisers) they are to orbit in LEO over the nation, don’t fire under any circumstances unless the UFO fires on the nation, then and only then, put the hammer down.”

“Sir,” the SecDef replied and then turned about and ran off the comms center. “Well,” the president groaned, “It’s going to be a long night.”

The alarm was sounding a DARC Command (Dominion Aerospace Radar Center) as a massive ship had appeared on screen overhead Athiesism.

"What in the devil is going on here... why was I woken up at four in the morn- ho-ly shit..."

"Sir, it just appeared on screen out of nowhere... It appears that it is a massive alien space ship and is holding movement over the capital of Atheisism. Apparently most of the other nations in the area are sending their military to full alert"

The Supreme Ruler thoughts 'So... the Eternals have returned have they...'

"Stand down the military, bring us down from DefCon 2 to DefCon 4. Send a message to the ship... ask them... "Why have you come... back?"

In response the Eternals sent this message to them:
"We have returned because this world needs the guidance of the Eternal once more. The Eternals were on this planet long before complex life developed here. So what have you found some of the ruins in your lands?"

The Eternal ship simply ignored the tiny little ships as they posed no threat to the ship and were like tiny bugs just compared to it in sheer size and strength. Also the meanwhile the messangers of the Eternals appeared all over the world preaching the promise of salvation of the Eternals to those that were faithful.

OOC: I am not like the Ori in killing people who do not believe in the Eternals instead the offer long lives with perfect health to the faithful and acutally do gather the souls of the faithful and give them eternal life and paradise in an seperate dimension in their spiritual forms.

After hearing the response from the Etenrnal's ship, The Supreme Ruler responded, "Indeed, we have found some of the ruins left by the Eternals on our island. They are great wonders in our culture and their meaning is beyond our comprehension. If we are to follow the Eternals, I wish to know what your message of salvation entails and what life will be like."

The Supreme Ruler eagerly and nervously awaited the response.

Standing there, in front of the human representative as he descended from the amazing spaceship, Mark knew the choice he had to make.

"Yes... Yes, we would like to be the first nation on Earth to join you!"

All across the nation, vast, open fields were set up for the new technology to land at, and the country's computer networks were opened to allow the entrance of new data.

"We will not join you, please keep all of your people ect... out of a 200 mile radius of our nation."

We will not join you. All you are offering is to increase the chance of being painfully destroyed in this mediocre life and decreasing the chance of dying peacefully in your sleep. You are also promising anyone who dies the same thing as Heaven. You say you Eternals realize that people need to discover great secrets for themselves? Do you also realize that if a nation suddenly obtains great new technology they run a risk of destroying many things? A nation, along with developing technology, must develop the maturity to use that technology wisely. You might've already caused fanatic groups and terrorist groups to rise within the nation of Athiesism.

As an atheistic country, we strive to be developed, mature, logical and level-headed. We are currently fighting religious insurgents attempting to undermine our country's policy, but they have condemned the visitation of the Eternal spacecraft and are calling it a messenger of the devil. Mark, meeting with the human representative, saw no need for proof. They had already shown their genorosity and power simply by the arrival of their massive spacecraft and the promise of gifts and rewards.

"Tell us what you have to share. I work for the betterment of my people," Mark said.

The repsentative of the Eternals answered," I have come to share the chance for enlightment and eternal paradise and life for those that would believe in the Eternals. Also if you believe in the Eternals then they shall grant you grant and wondorus technolgies taht will you advance extremly far in all fields."

"We find it hard to disbelieve in you!" replied Mark, laughing. "You're standing right in front of us."

Pulling out a briefcase containing information on his nation's compter network, he continued. "Our researchers are eager to recieve data. We have many computer terminals, and I'm sure your electronics could connect to them wirelessly."

The Eternals' represntative then said," Alright, it shall be done."

He then hits his staff against the ground and a light emerges from it. The light tranmits data on how to build an interstellar ships, on how to comminicate using sub-space frequnices, on how to slow aging and make the human body immune to all illnesses and viruses, and also how to control cold fusion as an energy source.

After recieving the message from the eternals, the Supreme Ruler responded "I know of the great power held by the Eternals and I accept them as our saviors - however my people are afraid of the future... they are scared of what is to become of them. I have tried to speak to them - but to no avail and if I push them further, I am sure there will be a rebellion."

The Eternals responed," You will be given a place in the paradise made by the Eternals for your faith in us. But, your people must be shown the power of the Eternals. We shall send human representatives to convince your people to convert if you are willing to accept this."

The response came and The Supreme Ruler was satisified, he responded, "I am willing to accept your representatives, but I must warn you that I will take no responsibility if anything happens to them."

Others greeted them with open arms, but the most common response was one of curiosity. The people of DMG wanted to know what technologys they would recieve...

The nation of Athiesism was prepared for the challenge. It had taken an entire year to assimilate the information. The task had been done by AURORA, the intelligent, self-aware computer prototype created to serve the nation. A new plan was set out to create new fusion reactors and new space facilites. Health centers all across the nation were finally able to eliminate disease, and prolong death for a great deal of time. All that was now needed was a space station.

On the west corner of Lilputia, the largest island, room was made for a massive space facility. It was to be the link from Earth to the stars.

Am Eternal messanger went to Mark and asked," Why do you not believe in the Eternals? Despite of all what they have done for your people and what they given to you. So what say you to the Eternals offer for eternal life and salvation for all your people?"

"I don't understand your question," Mark replied. "You sit in front of me, so you have to exist. I believe you are great and powerful."

The messanger responded," Though I am not an Etenral I know still that you do not consider them holy or believe their offer of the chance for salvation and eternal life and paradise."

It simply could not factor in to the athiest's mind. "Holiness is a human emotion that means nothing. If you want us to worship you and give sacrifices to you, that would be to become a theist. We are willing to pay you somehow for your wonderful services, but it is simply impossible for us to become a theist. Once you are one of us, it is simply illogical."

In light or recent events we ask that the Etarnals’s ship or any created by Athiesism not enter our country’s airspace. Those in our nation who wish to accept your belief are free to do so at their own will. This government can’t and won’t force anyone to accept your belief regardless of what you offer. Also, the United States just sent information concerning the Eternals. They said that they are very much like a race called the Ori; who forced others to believe in them or they would be killed but promised ascension for those who believed in them. As it turns out the Ori just sucked the life force out of those who believed in them, in turn making them stronger, and the promise of ascension was false and shallow. I hope with the Eternals this is not the case.

The Eternals' messanger answered Mark," You desire to see this place promised to you by the Eternals then it shall be done."

The messanger hit his staff against the ground and all of a sudden they entered a paradise where everything was perfect and there was no pain or sadness just happiness and warmth. There the messanger said," Here it is the dimension created by the Eternals for their faithful.

To Flightopia:
"How dare you compare us to the Ori. They are creature that are evil by forcing worship. The Eternals only seek to give all beings the chance for salvation."

Amazed, the citizens of Athiesism stood in awe. It all seemed perfect. But it could not last long. They began to fall out. First just a few, then all of them. They could not exist in such a dimension- they were not suited. Was this what the Eternals had called "imperfection?" Unwilling to use such an alien word, they shrugged it off.

It was not time to think about that. It was time to concentrate on the path of discovery. They would have to form their own destiny.

The Eternals' messanger then hit his staff again against the ground briningin them out of the paradise and he then said," That was the dimension created for the faithfuls' to go once they die. You were some of the few non-Eternals who went there who were still living."

It seemed nothing more could be done. Mark thanked the representative, and was astounded at the genorosity of this race. Perhaps there was a Heaven then. But no matter- it was time to reach into space. Athiesism was to build spacecraft.

The Eternal reprsentative then said," These Eternals are only a small branch of a race that controls an empire of many galaxies and untold trillions citzens that are members of the younger races. The main branch of the Eternals just honor our creator who we know exists for a fact as our leader as we call him the Eldest One was born from a part of his mind. The main Eternal Empire shall allow you to trade with them and if you wish even become a part of the Eternal Empire."

The offer to trade sounded intriguing, but what products could they trade? Two societies so far apart in technological advance could hardly find something that they had that the other needed.

"How about we trade..."

There was one thing that came to mind.

"We would be interested in purchasing and relocating to a new planet." The Earth was simply too dangerous, too polluted, and far too overcowded. It would be best to live under a new sun.

The Eternal representative answered," The Eternals can easily provide, but they wish to know do you wish to inhabit an seperate star deviod of all other civilizations or do you wish to have a star within the Eternal Empire under the protection of the Eternals. About trade the Eternals are willing to trade jewels made by them for gold and silver from your nation."

We would prefer to have our own system. We certainly mean no offense to you, but we have a set way of living that we abide by. It would be best if we could start on our own. My nation would require an earthlike planet, temperate and able to support human life without trouble. Moving our entire population there will require some effort, but once we are established we can immediately commence trade.

"It is quite alright, the Eternals understand. Also we have found a planet we a year round temperture ranging 75 degress to 85 degress (not Celius of course) and it soils are very fertile capable of great harvtes and also has abundant natural. Also it rivers and seas are full of fish and many other things that are capable of being eaten."

About a dozen million of my people, either unwilling to leave their homes, or simply fearful, have turned down the offer to transfer to the new planet. They will be left on Earth, but still under my defence. The rest are enthusiatic about the offer. We have our people assembling in open fields around the nation, bringing their most prized belongings with them, awaiting transfer to our new home.

The Eternals instead of using ships just teleported all the people and their belonging that were willing to go to their new world where already Eternal driods had begun to build dwellings for the people.

He hit his staff against the ground and the nation was consumed with a calming white light that healed all the sick and rose all those that had died within the past few hours. All the fields bore great harvests. All the dead plants that still were in root turned green as emeralds so did all the others plants. The fields were covered in flowers and the soil of the deserts was made to made to bear fruit.

Then the rep. said," Go forth now and tell your people what you have witnessed here today and tell them that the Eternals are responsible for it."

"I assure you that they understand your immense power... its the ethics of it they can't accept. For one many are not religious and can not accept a savior, but the biggest problem my people have is that they feel you are playing god - and while many are thankful that you raised their dead loved ones or cured their sick children... well, I am sure it is hard for you to understnad, as it is also hard for me to understand, but my people are not here to serve me - but I to them. I am sorry, but we must refuse, however I will have the leader of Guerreros contact you in due time."

The Eternal rep. responded," Nay, the Eternals do not want you to force your people to convert, but for you to tell decide wether or not you want the technologies that they have offered you. For we ask nothing in return."

"I must decline, my people fear the new age these technologies would usher in."

"Then we shall leave you here, but know this that if you and your people ever need of change your minds just contact us."

After saying that he just disappered.

Also the planet is in a prime place between twin stars providing for good growing seasons for crops as well the soil there is very fertile. The planet is 56% water with 41% being land and 3% being ice. The planet has abundant metal and fuel desposits as well.
