-------------------------------DESCRIPTIONS-----------------------

-Plaguebringer Finalization

Well, one of the most destructive robotic swarms the Godulans have ever conceived is nearing completion. All it needs is a few finishing touches, a little fine tuning, and a few rounds of combat testing, likely in the upcoming war against Hataria and the Central Powers.

-Sentinel Finalization

The Sentinel was concieved, designed, and constructed on essentially the same timetable as the Plaguebringer project. The prodigious Mechanized Dragon will truly inspire fear in the enemy upon its entry into the battlefield.

(For more detailed descriptions of these two, please check out the Godulan Robotics and Mechanicals Thread in my sig, look in the 'Allies Only' post.)

- Distortion Drive Upgrade

With the recent shift of Godulan Fleet organization and makeup, it has come to Baron Skye's attention that the new Godulan focus on speed is somewhat hindered by an archaic engine system geared more towards propelling massive ships with better efficiency rather than moving smaller ships with better speed.

To address this concern, the Triad Primarch has commissioned the research and development of a more focused version of the Godulan Distortion Drive, which will enable a much greater degree of control and maneuverability in addition to the fact that Makos and Starbolts alike will suddenly develop a huge increase in top speed. Baron Skye expects nothing less than a 75% increase in top speed, and suggests that the Godulan Focus towards Agility and Precision will be reinforced immensely by this project.

---------------------------EVOLUTIONS-----------------------------

- Monoblade Slaymaster Discs

RECOGNIZED: Numerical losses of 'Slaymaster' skirmishers due to 'DoomSwoop' anti-organic action deemed unacceptable.

RECOGNIZED: Razor Discs deemed as cause of unacceptable losses.

RECOMMENDATION: Suitable replacement required. Increased lethality and durability required.

RECOGNIZED: Monofilament Blades deemed as proper replacement. Energy requirements to sustain blade noted as inconsequential. Transfer weapon energy to disc upon initiation of 'DoomSwoop' action. Commencing implementation.

Kython Slaymaster fighters have a tactic where they fly low along the ground, with their razor discs on overdrive, such that they would cut through enemy infantry with ease. However, such blades often dulled, and caused nasty jamming effects that often led to the destruction of the Slaymaster.

A monofilament blade replacement not only solves the dulling issue, but makes this 'DoomSwoop' action all the more lethal.

- Ion Pulse Cannons

RECOGNIZED: Despite disproportional armament comparable to enemy vessels of similar size, present disabling weapons recognized as weaker than optimal performance.

RECOMMENDATION: Increase efficiency of Ion cannons, enable rapid-fire feature to increase vessel-disabling speed.

RECOGNIZED: Measure approved, commencing implementation.

Kython Slaughterkings, the capital ships of the Kython Scourge, utilize ion cannons as their primary armament, focused around disabling enemy ships so that their secondary armament, a light disc that can slice through unshielded hulls with ease, can finish the enemy vessels off by literally cutting them to pieces.

The Kythons have commenced 'evolution' of a new version of an Ion cannon that appears less as a single ion burst as it is a continuous stream that sweeps across the target. Several of these beams can be combined to create a powerful surge of ion energy that can sap shields to nothing and turn whole swaths of targeted ships into inoperative hulks ripe for 'harvesting'.

------------------------DESCRIPTIONS----------------------

- FLUX CANNON UPGRADE TO FRACTAL GUN

The Godulans have always sought to further their mastery of Spatial Distortion, as well as their understanding of the phenomenon dubbed a 'Shatterspace Anomaly'. This anomaly, spawning either from an enemy vessel foolishly firing its main cannon at a Godulan fleet while voidshields were active, or when a flux cannon strikes enemy shields, has long confounded Godulan scientists in attempts to 'guide' its destructive power.

Well no more. With the enterprising work of a couple graduate students at Horizon's End University, the formerly spherical nature of the Shatterspace Anomaly has successfully been shifted into a directed-parabola. Oddly enough, this also generates a pattern not unlike many of the more complex fractal patterns seen in chaos theory.

For those who do not quite understand what this development is leading to, it essentially means that all Godulan Flux Cannons have taken on a Shaped-Charge nature, enabling the flux cannons to better ravage the hulls of enemy vessels from afar by directing the brunt of Shatterspace detonations closer to enemy vessels through their shields and increasing the destructive efficiency by a great amount. The Godulan club known as the Flux Cannon has now been turned into a stiletto.

Oh, and in this next round of upgrades, the Godulans also intend to increase power efficiency and maximum weapon power... AGAIN.

- IMPROVED ENERGEN 3.0

This is a relatively straightforward upgrade of the favored Godulan power core. Beyond the fact that it will essentially increase power output by a factor of two and increase Mako Shielding, Mobility, and Weapon power even further than they already were, there's not much else that needs saying.

- SCATTERSPRAY SHIELDS

Godulan Ablative Shields were designed to be relatively good against anything thrown against them, acting as a second layer of armor. They have served this purpose well since their inception, but Godulans are never satisfied on that score. If it ain't broke, it could take an overhaul or two.

In any event, imagine a particular grade schooler's surprise when his science project about a sub-space field generator turned into what appeared to be a rippling field of energy that acted almost like a monodirectional shatterspace anomaly. Generated in the shape of an outward facing shell, the Godulans have decided to incorporate this shield-slash-weapon into a field draped over the standard ablative shielding like a coat of paint. Incoming blaster fire will be scattered before striking the Ablative shields, ensuring that precise strikes and focused fire falls flat. Incoming missiles will in most cases be ripped to pieces before they can even do damage, but the field is rather thin, so don't expect it to come through every time. Enemy assault pods often have their boarding apparatus ripped off before they can break through, rendering the whole operation kinda moot.

It also gives the Godulan Makos an eerie rippling appearance, as though they've somehow become slightly disconnected from reality, but rest assured, not only can the Godulans see you nice and clear through the shield, they can shoot you dead just as easily as if there were no scatterspray shield at all.

------------------------EVOLUTIONS----------------------

- CRYSTALLINE CARAPACE

RECOGNIZED: Resource loss incurred during salvage process deemed unacceptable. Require new hull material facilitory to accelerated production and improved protective capacity.

ACTION: Accessing chemistry database, initializing Protocol 83 'Mad Scientist'...

The Kythons have decided that when appropriating the resources of enemy vessels killed or captured in battle, the amount of 'crap' they had to throw away was growing rather tiresome. They also realized that the materials they were using already were creating vessels that were simply too heavy for their size, as the lack of organic personnel allowed them to increase the armor on their vessels well over normal specifications. In light of this, they are manufacturing a titanium-reinforced diamond composite which, in addition to giving the Kython vessels an eerie bluish-green hue, will also increase their armor even further.

As an unexpected side effect of this upgrade, Kython Slaughterking Light-Discs will also increase in destructive power by approximately forty five percent.

- SLIPSTREAM ADVANCEMENT

RECOGNIZED: Effective speed and agility of Slaughterking and Slaymaster archetypes deemed 'in need of upgrade'. Must improve mobility in all conditions.

RECOMMENDATION: Initialize Anti-matter Rocke--

RECOGNIZED: Kython Sentient 563-A9B deleted, logical processes deemed terminally faulty. Initializing Slipstream Drive Efficiency upgrade.

The Kythons were fast before, really fast, really really fast, and the Slaymaster fighters were agile enough to make a TIE interceptor look like a VW beetle on blocks and extensive ivy growth. But who is ever satisfied with things in their current condition? Certainly not the Godulans or the Kythons. They just always have to upgrade themselves, which has proven useful on many occasions.

In this particular instance, the Kythons are upgrading the efficiency and precision of their Slipstream drives in order to increase maximum speed and overall maneuverability even FURTHER. Also, as the Slipstream drive also acts as the main power generator for Kython vessels, this improvement will also increase Kython Weapons and Shield power by approximately twenty five percent.

Project Onslaught Finalization

With the rather successful implementation of mine swarms in the recent campaigns against the 'Triumvirate' it has finally been pushed through to commence final tweaks and firepower upgrades requisite to putting Project Onslaught fully on the table.

Doubtless, any enemies we should face in the future will come to fear the veritable clouds of high yield nukes that suddenly materialize in their fleet, just one of many options with which we can customize this truly devastating weapon.

Also, who knew those Heighliners made great anti-fleet weapons? Talk about serendipity!

Fractal Torpedos

The Godulan Phase Torpedos have long been a mainstay of any battlefleet, lancing out and dealing their own type of damage to enemy vessels for the longest time.

This means they're old. This means they need an upgrade.

Fractal Torpedos have thrown to the wind the weak power of mere phase disruptions and brought forth an amplified version of a Flux Cannon blast. Approximately five times as strong as a simple Flux Cannon, this weapon utilizes the Fractal Feature newly incorporated into the main Godulan weapons, enabling the missile to take on a shaped-charge nature and deal even MORE damage to the enemy by tearing apart their hulls and armor.

Oddly enough, the missiles have decreased in size, despite their increased firepower, and are actually quite maneuverable as they streak towards their target. Weakpoints and insertion angles can be designated, and the torpedos actually have a minor AI helping them get where they need to kill things.

Tachyon Flechettes

Godulan Tachyon Torpedos turn enemy shielding systems against them, interacting with the shielding in a manner such that a previously harmless beam of non-interacting tachyon particles essentially 'Redshifts' into a high powered beam of plasma energy on the scale of a Heavy Turbolaser blast.

It was great for tactical strikes against command structures and the like, but the Godulans always want more bang for their buck, and as such they have begun development of a Tachyon Cluster Torpedo, to increase the efficiency of the weapon in general, and give it a nice little buckshot quality.

Should turn ISD fighter bays into poo QUITE nicely.

KYTHON-- APPROPRIATION DISINTEGRATOR

RECOGNIZED: Appropriations mechanisms deemed too slow and 'clunky' to continue standard operations.

SUGGESTION: Request replicator engines?

NEGATIVE: Already have replicator engines, appropriation mechanism 'ConSpider' necessary to increase standing construction capacity.

RECOGNIZED: Oh.

SUGGESTION: Plaguebringer Swarm features disintegration node that stores the remnants in specially generated modules to construct more drones to add to swarm. Incorporate feature?

AFFIRMATIVE: Measure approved, commence immediately.

The Kython conspiders usually materialize at the end of a battle and drag off the various ship remnants indicative of a collision between a Kython Battleswarm and anything tagged as not-friendly. However, this method of removing supplies from the battlefield was rather slow and drawn out, and the Kythons thrive on sheer velocity.

As such, they have taken a notion from their Godulan forebears and commenced development of a new weapon for Kython Slaughterkings and Conspiders alike, a disintegration weapon that stores the disintegration dust in specialized modules for later transport. The Kythons will actually be able to incorporate this into their LightDiscs to add even more to fear from the Kython Slaughterking Melee weapons.

----------------------------DESCRIPTIONS--------------------------

GODULAN PROJECTS

Missile Makos

The Makos have been a somewhat longstanding addition to the Godulan Military War Machine, but it has recently come into Baron Skye's mind that something needs to be done to increase the overall versatility of the Godulan Mainstay. This means introducing a version of the Godulan Mako that is somewhat different than its brethren.

The Missile Mako is approximately twice the size of its more generic counterpart, is somewhat slower, and utilizes no Flux Cannons. Instead, its armament utilizes nearly three times as many Protium Arc Disintegrators, which are somewhat more useful at long range, and incorporates a massive number of torpedo launchers and missile bays.

As an artillery type vessel, it is meant to hang back from the main fleet, launching massive barrages of Tachyon Flechette Missiles and Fractal Torpedos, and with the Godulan Balroggan alliance, possibly even the occasional singularity torpedo.

Starbolt Overhaul

The Starbolts have been in the Godulan arsenal since long before the Godulans even developed FTL. Showing an amazing amount of versatility in all forms of fighter combat, it has nevertheless been noted that the great fighters that have operated for so long are beginning to show a measure of incapability nowadays.

Now, utilizing the latest Godulan Technologies, Baron Skye has commenced sponsorship of research and implementation of a new type of fighter, to be named the 'HellKite'.

These HellKite fighters show little resemblance to their precursors, and indeed there is not much to be considered similar between the two models. The HellKite is larger, about twice the size of a Starbolt and truthfully about as large as many types of combat corvettes. It is equipped with three capital class Fractal Cannons that can be alternated between anti-fighter streams and charged pulses, one Protium Arc Disintegrator, and a small selection of torpedos. The HellKites are also significantly better armored and shielded than theire predecessors.

With the latest technology comes the latest maneuverability, and with the engines of today, despite the increased size of the fighters, their overall speed and maneuverability remains unchanged. They retain their Omnidirectional Vector Thrust capability, as well as their ability to 'carpet dive' when the situation warrants.

Death Motes

An amusing little weapon to be placed on both Makos and DawnRunners, this appears at first as a strange goo that splatters on enemy shields and hulls, almost as if for some reason the Godulans had started playing paintball instead of making war.

When Sensors and Comms begin to get disrupted, and shield energy starts draining at a steadily increasing rate, however, its seemingly harmless initial state becomes infinitely more menacing.

Death Motes are actually a type of engineered organism that generates a magnetic field when in contact with any form of energy barrier and solid matter. Like a bio-organic version of Plaguebringer, the Death Motes will sap energy from shields and draw actual sustenance from ship hulls. They do this by modifying the magnetic field generated such that it funnels energy into its hosts, or such that it severs molecular bonds with a strange form of macroscopic precision. As this occurs, the grouping becomes much larger and more powerful, accelerating the process as it goes.

Unlike Plaguebringer, this stuff will actively attract itself to whatever its chosen target may be.

KYTHON EVOLUTIONS

Regeneration Matrices

RECOGNIZED: Repair process only executable outside of combat. Fundamental flaw in warfare processes.

SUGGESTION: New crystalline hulls show evidence of regenerative capacity and replication potential. Cultivate? Initial estimates show that in-combat regeneration could potentially out-strip incoming enemy fire.

AFFIRMATIVE: Estimate confirmed, measure approved, commencing evolution.

(With the advent of Kython Crystalline Carapaces, it was noted relatively quickly that the crystal being utilized had the ability to replicate more material for itself upon introduction of proper amounts of energy, essentially healing itself should the need arise.

The Kythons, imbued with the technological 'restlessness' of their forebears, have siezed this opportunity to cultivate and expand upon this phenomenon, essentially providing them with in-combat healing that would enable their armor to regenerate as quickly as their shielding.)

Displacement Field

RECOGNIZED: Enhanced speed insufficient, some weapons and missiles display speed too great to evade by any means.

SUGGESTION: Develop spatial distortion field enabling vessels to appear some distance from actual position?

INTERROGATIVE: Requesting info as to origin of suggestion.

SUGGESTION: Popular Mechanics.

INQUISITIVE: Did the article go into detail?

NEGATIVE: No, but ideas were provided on where to start.

AFFIRMATIVE: Measure approved, commencing research and evolution.

(The Kythons are always looking for a defensive edge. At the moment, they have settled onto the idea of a field generator that essentially mucks about with reality such that the Kython Slaughterking generating the effect appears about half a kilometer from where it actually is. A nice little effect of this technology will of course be the fact that many will essentially be shooting at the image, and not the ship, thereby reducing incoming firepower from multiple directions.)

Godulan Projects

Protium Arc Disintegrator Upgrade

(Digitizers)

Long a mainstay of the Godulan Military Arsenal, a method has long been sought to upgrade the functionality of the Protium Arc Disintegrator (beyond turning it into the dreaded Plasmatic Pulse Cannon). With respect to this desire, Baron Skye has commissioned research and development of a Disintegrator that focuses more on the disintegration aspect rather than the explosive nature of the weapon.

When a Protium Arc Disintegrator strikes, it either channels its energy into vaporizing enemy vessels, or detonates with a kinetic shockwave to cause damage to nearby vessels. Like a neutron bomb focuses on radiation and little explosive energy, the 'Digitizer's' power is increased not due to overall power output, but due to increase specialization. As a result, any direct hits will sap power and strip armor from vessels to a far greater degree than typical Protium Arcs.

Chances are these will only be utilized as Planetary Defense weapons.

Quantum Renders

The Godulans have been bantying about with new weapons to incorporate into their somewhat limited arsenal of infantry weapons, particularly with respect to the marines and gendarmes. Rifle-type flux cannons were utilized for the longest time, but it was swiftly realized that while the flux cannons were quite effective with making the enemy dead, nothing could do it better than a simple Straight Arrow bullet.

However, bullets cost money, especially the complex Straight Arrow shells. And as such, Baron Skye decided that it was necessary to commence work on an assault rifle that could incorporate the most modern technologies and finally beat the crushing power of Straight Arrow.

To whit, Quantum Renders were provided as a solution.

With increasing Godulan aptitude at mixing and matching foreign technologies to make unholy spawn of Necron and Godulan or Imperial and Federation, this particular weapon utilizes the aspects of several separate paradigms, creating a weapon that operates as a combination of a pulse rifle and a flechette shotgun.

The Quantum Render fires bursts of condensed 'Momentum' that transfers itself onto whatever target it strikes, essentially causing the stricken area to 'continue the path', punching a nasty hole into the target and sending them flying. The rifle, better termed as a light cannon, can fire automatic bursts of 'Momentum' that will kill many targets, and a charged shot that can pulse through many armored vehicles and actually work as a battering ram in a pinch.

Gendarmes are slated to be equipped with Vulcan Cannon equivalents, capable of firing bursts of Momentum far stronger than the rifle can manage.

Morphic Crystalline Structural Overhaul

With the recent discovery of an alien ruin that had managed to master the usage of a crystalline substance that could be shaped to any form and actually retain memory enough to change shape according to pre-programmed commands, a hard look has been given towards the entire chassis and structural nature of Godulan Vessels.

Morphic Crystal is both hard, malleable, and most of all light. It essentially provides all the benefits of Neutronium Carbonide Armor, without any of the requisite weight issues, and the added bonus of being able to sprout needles, blades, or even regenerate hull damage.

It is also surprisingly receptive to psionic and arcane resonance, enabling an increase in power for the Captain-Psions of each vessel when attempting to access their powers.

Finally, Morphic Crystal has a moderate energy absorption capability. If given opportunity, it can actually absorb a portion of incoming enemy fire and transfer it to shields and weapons, allowing itself an increase in overall combat capability at the expense of its enemies.

Upon completion of research for this material, there will be a lengthy overhaul project in which the entirety of the Godulan StarNavy will be restructured to this new material.

Ship Description

The Cossack, bearing a similar shape to the Mako Star Destroyer save for the fact that it is larger and more streamlined, is strictly geared towards fast and powerful strikes from a distance. Its Protium Arc Disintegrators, by virtue of their ability to syphon off energy from an enemy vessel's shielding and then convert it into a pulse of pure concussive force, are enough to lay even the stoutest of Star Destroyers low.

The Cossack, when utilized in tandem with Makos and other Godulan craft, promises to be a tremendously powerful addition to the bulk of the Godulan Star Navy.

Ship Description

The DemonWing was designed with one goal in mind: Force a surrender. Larger and sturdier than the simple destroyers, the DemonWing is capable of churning out a truly vast amount of torpedo fire, while using its Protium Arc Disintegrators as close-range fire support. Now, while its usage of these torpedos is devastating in and of itself, that alone is not what makes it so dangerous.

Its the Tachyon Torpedos. A weapon that turns the enemy's own shields against them, this vessel can wipe out entire swaths of charging enemy fleets in a single wave, and, more importantly, renders planetary shields completely and utterly USELESS. The Siege Dreadnought is capable of pounding down wave after wave of firepower upon a planet as though it were completely undefended, disabling air defense sites, destroying secondary military installations and industrial capacities, and generally bringing a conflict crashing down upon the enemy's head.

It is made to force a surrender, by removing their last line of defense. It WILL force a surrender.

Ship Description

Short, sleek, and deadly. That's the Nightfall. Designed to be virtually undetectable even by extra-sensory means of location, it has but one key focus: Pick 'em off.

In this case, it will hide from view for the most part, power and shields down, in essence resembling nothing more than a chunk of space dust. If a target comes into range, it will wait until it has a good bead on a particular weak spot, be it a launch bay, or obtrusive command senter, shunt the necessary amount of power from its capacitors to its Axial Tachyon Cannon in order to power it up without bringing up any weapon-activation alarms, and knock the ship out in one shot.

The Tachyon Cannon, while not much more powerful than a typical axial laser, is useful because as a Tachyon Cannon, shields will be of no help. In fact, Shields do all the damage when a Tachyon cannon is involved as the interaction between the shield and the beam is what gives the beam its deadly nature. The beam will hit with enough power to slice even a standard imperial star destroyer cleanly in two.

After it has fired, it will power up shields and engines and open up with its main weapons if necessary.

As a hit-and-run vessel, the Nightfall promises to be the bane of any forces that should choose to oppose the Triad Consortium.

Descriptions of Kython Technologies:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Infection/Propagation Evolution

This Evolution is actually a bit of a double whammy against enemy targets. It is an enhancement to the already prolific uses of the Morphic Crystal Shardbolts, explosive crystal shells that can be fired from the hull of the Kython or Godulan vessel at a massive volume. However, the Kythons are making far more use of it than the Godulans are, as these weapons are to be their primary weapons, rather than a new form of point defense.

With the application of this new Infection mechanism, the Kythons essentially construct a strange form of Shardbolt that, upon impact with an enemy vessel, splatters across the surface of the vessel and begins to sap power and remove layers of hull atom by atom. Power and material syphoned in this fashion goes towards the crystal's morphic matrix and it begins to expand across the hull of the ship and seep into any open areas. Upon hull breach, it continues to syphon power and hull material to begin a controlled takeover of the vessel, hacking into ship systems, overwhelming defensive forces, and making as if to turn the now heavily victimized vessel into nothing more than resources to create more SlaughterKings and SlayMasters. If a self-destruct mechanism is activated to destroy the vessel, there is a one-in-two chance that the propagation blob simply converts the explosive force into more energy to propagate.

This weapon can also be used against shields to bring them down at a phenomenal rate, and multiple ShardBolts can be fired to increase the speed at which they are drained. Of course they can be shot off at this time as well. But hey.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

DEATHLORD ARTILLERY BATTLESHIP ANALOG

Diameter: 500m, 1.25km with light-disc active
Crew Complement: Automated
Lasting Time: Indefinite

Armor: Morphic Crystal Superstructure

Drive:
-Probability Drive with 4x calculation modifier
-Slipstream Drive rated at travel speed of 50LY per hour
-Dimensional Drive

Engines: Slipstream Thrusters with Omnidirectional VTOL

Power Plant: Massive Distortion Core Reactors (4)

Shielding: Psi-Reinforced Ablative Shielding, Scatterspray Shield

Defensive Armament:
- Crystal Spines
- Capacitant Hull (Absorbs portion of energy-based energy fire and converts it into weapon energy)
- Absorbent Hull (disintegrates boarding pods that contact its surface)
- Gravitonic Countermeasures
- Runic Shielding

Offensive Armament:
- Planetary Grade Ion Cannons ( 6 )
- Light-Disc ( 1 )

- Ion Cannon power can be shifted to the Morphic Crystalline Superstructure to generate a large number of energized crystal projectiles called 'ShardBolts' that explode violently on impact with shield or hull. While essentially equal to the full weapons consignment in power, this mode allows the vessel to put forth a literal wall of explosive bullets between itself and the enemy. In the case of shifting from Kython Ion Cannons to Shardbolts, this is essentially switching from 'disable' mode to 'destroy' mode with equal firepower.

Sensors:
- Gravitonic / Mass Detectors
- Multiphase Radar
- Computer Enhanced Electromagnetic Passive Array
- Drive Detector
- Dimensional Sensor Array
- Psychotronic Sensor Array

Communications:
- Psychotronic Communications Array

Special:
- Atmosphere Enabled
- Ridiculously Maneuverable/Tough

Ship Description:

The largest vessel in the Kython Battleswarms, the DeathLord is just as swift as its brethren, just as tough as its brethren, and hideously powerful. The usage of its enormously powered up Ion Cannons is capable of disabling a standard Imperial Star Destroyer in a single salvo, and if used against larger and more powerful vessels would still deal devastating damage.

Furthermore, whenever its Ion cannons are no longer needed, it can switch seamlessly into its Shardbolt mode, launching a veritable firestorm of explosive shells and infective shells as necessary to destroy all it oppose in close range, as well as activate its light-disc to slice away at enemy vessels with impunity.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grappling Mechanisms

This isn't so much a 'grappling' thing as it is a second method of motility for the Kython SlayMaster fighters. In a pinch, this Evolution will enable the small fighters to convert from flying discs of death into spiderlike craft that can latch onto ground and enemy hulls with their bladed legs. On vessel hulls, this would enable them to skitter across the surface, slicing and ripping off weapons emplacements and charging into fighter bays to wreak untold havoc upon the enemy from the inside out.

On the ground, it essentially turns each SlayMaster into a spiderlike tank, laying waste to the enemy with bursts of explosive ShardBolt fire.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Light Disc Enhancement

The Light-Disc is the Kythons' primary means of destroying the enemy. At close range, the Disc can be oriented so that a close pass will cut a massive rip through an enemy vessel's hull, possibly even slicing a piece off. However, shields are always a problem, as they rather annoyingly absorb the majority of the damage.

With this latest intensity enhancement, the Kython vessel can switch its light-disc to a form of Ion-Based weapon that will deal MASSIVE damage against the enemy shields. A sustained pass would be enough to drop an enemy vessels shields down to nil, allowing for the next kython vessel to slice the enemy in two with impunity.

Yum yum.

I think that what you have here is a very powerful bunch of ships. Most of the more vague technologies are explained here well enough so that we'll know what to do if we run into them in an RP, so I'm set in that respect.

The only thing I'd like to ask regards your tachyon weps. I originally never intended for it to work out like this, but I feel that my PPAD shielding, though simple, would help to defend against those types of weapons. I'm wondering if you think that they will.

The primary mechanism behind Tachyon Weapons is that they are essentially 'energized' into their deadly nature by interaction with enemy shielding. They interact in reverse, essentially, which is essentially the means they are SUPPOSED to work.

Tachyon weapons are useless against unshielded targets. Its the interaction with shielding alone that makes them deadly. Its also the main reason I have to use them in Torpedo form for the most part, as they cannot be fired in cannon form without shutting down the vessel's own shields.

Also, as the Tachyon weapons are effectively massless (until given 'virtual mass' by enemy shielding) particle shields would be somewhat useless, as particle shields could only block other particles if they have mass, and since it takes a specific amount of energy to get the particles to assume the necessary shape, the Tachyon cannon would hit it much as it does any other shield.

There are some shields that would stop Tachyons, but I would have to see them on a case by case basis.
Kyanges
16-12-2005, 22:52
I saw your first posts about your tachyon weapons a while back. I was guessing that since they only worked against energy shielding, a physical shield would work. Recalling that post now however, I remember that it would simply pass through anything else, (Like physical walls.) My fault at forgetting that little note.

I'll edit in just what energy puts the particles into shape later on, but gravity is used to do that.

About gravity wells, like those used by the Vong, and others, I'm guess that they would be energized by those too? Or would the black holes simply suck them up? If the tachyons aren't "energized" by gravity wells, or the energy emitted from a black hole, then I'll figure the rest out on my own.

Side note: Are you alright with my questions about possible counters? It just occurred to me that this would essentially be kind of cheating for a battle RP, and I don't want to do that.

Now that I think about it, it might actually cause Singularities to explode.

On another note, I have no problem answering questions, as long as it is understood that it is completely OOC information and not usable directly in RPs

(Understood on the "OOC" note. I'll RP them trying almost everything before finding out what to do, or something to that effect.)

Exploding singularities. Mmmm. They might be my main warhead (Quasars, specifically.) on all of my weapons, but I doubt that would be helpful if they start exploding in my face.

Though there may be plenty of counters to the Tachyon weapons, I'll think of something I feel suits the "Feel" of my race eventually. Thanks for your time, and I'll simply TG anything else I might want to add. /possible end clutter of your thread.

Truth be told, the only sure fire way to block the Tachyon Weapons is to shut off yer shields... but that opens up a whole new can of worms.

Yeah... And there lies the genius of the weapon. The only defense I would have is to form up PPADs, then shut off the energy shields. I haven't really used energy shields at all since the beginning of my FT RPing. PPADs have done their job against most opponents who don't seem to realize I have no energy shields. But that won't do much good against a more careful reader such as yourself, and a much more developed tech base as yours. Good thing I'm "allied" through the GFFA, but honestly, your fleet still ranks as a major threat in my books. Most of my thoughts of new weapons and defenses typically has your tech in mind.

Now there may be bigger and badder possible enemies, and not that it probably even matters to you, but yeah....
Godular
17-12-2005, 09:42
Which is a good thing of course. However, it would be important to note that the Godulans are very protective of their technology, and as this being the THIRD Godulan Research thread, you can tell that the Godulans match any enemies attempting to overpower their tech by designing new techs and enhancements.

Although I also try to juggle everything with my Education budget, which I've pretty much incorporated as a 'Research and Development' budget. If I see people with like... ZERO percent in education popping up new technologies like gophers... lets just say I get a bit of an eye twitch...

--------------------------------DESCRIPTIONS-----------------------------

MAKO RESTRUCTURE, CLOSE COMBAT FOCUS

This is a relatively simple overhaul of every existing Mako in the Godulan Arsenal, in keeping with the new organization of the fleets. Fractal Guns will be modified to pump out massive amounts of firepower within a more limited range, its gravitic countermeasures will be strengthened slightly, and the Makos will also have their acceleration capability increased. The adaptability of its shields are being reworked to shift directions more quickly when necessary, enabling the vessel to switch shield walls in the blink of an eye.

All told, this will make the Makos approximately 50% stronger at close range, but somewhat weaker than standard Makos at long range.

MORPHIC CRYSTAL STRENGTHENING

Morphic Crystal now makes up the majority of Godulan Fleet hulls and superstructure, as its durability, malleability, and regenerative capacity enables the outfitted vessels to take much larger amounts of damage in combat.

However, strong though the Crystal may be, it is still somewhat weaker than standard Neutronium-Carbonide Steel. As a result, Baron Skye has commissioned an effort to improve the molecular structure of Morphic Crystal, making it as strong as the original hulls, yet also retaining the quality of its fluid forms.

MORPHIC CRYSTAL CAPACITANCE

When the Godulans were initially experimenting with Morphic Crystal, they realized that it had the ability to syphon off small amounts of energy to repair itself. However, they also realized that while this regenerative capacity could be controlled, it also had a strange ability to hold the input energy in storage for later use. Further, it was discovered that this energy could be tapped.

Development is now underway to improve the capacitance of Morphic Crystal, particularly in respect to Godulan combat vessels. The practical application of this feature is that a Godulan Combat Vessel will find itself somewhat more resistant to energy-based enemy fire, as the superstructure of the very ship itself absorbs portions of incoming enemy fire and channels it back into the Godulan vessel's OWN weapons and shields. This essentially means that Godulan vessels will become STRONGER when engaged in combat.

MORPHIC CRYSTAL SPINES

Morphic Crystal, when properly 'controlled' is capable of forming horrendously sharp spines. These spines are not like the standard ShardBolts that can be fired at a phenomenal rate of fire, but a part of the vessel's body.

Development is underway to assist in the speed and damage of these spines for one purpose alone: repelling boarders. Who would dare land on the hull of a Godulan or Kython vessel if the hull itself reaches out and slices the boarding pods to pieces?

--------------------------------DESCRIPTIONS-----------------------------

Morphic Crystal Shardbolt Enhancement 1

The utility of Godulan Morphic Crystal is widespread, with particular regards to the amount of Shardbolt fire it can put out when the situation necessitates it. Like thousands of flechette needles, each vessel can pump out a veritable hail of Shardbolts, chopping down fighter craft like flies and dealing severe damage to larger vessels.

This first enhancement is to improve the overall damage of the Shardbolts by making them up to twice as dense as originally possible. Both penetrating power and concussive force will be greatly enhanced, as the increased density also allows for greater relative amounts of energy capacitance within each individual shardbolt.

ShipTaker Protocols

The infection features of standard Kythons has proven to be something of a boon in combat, as it rather swiftly forces enemy vessels to fire on themselves or self-destruct to prevent the Kythons from putting even more of themselves on the field. However, a major problem is that the infected vessel is still in control of itself for the most part. This evolution aims to prevent that by initiating a second phase in the infection process.

As the vessel is disintegrated by the infecting blotch, the material that has been 'appropriated' is transferred into the on-the-spot generation of Kython boarding forces, in the form of Impalers and BoneGrinders. These boarders are tasked with the location and disablement of any self destruct devices or primary power cores, as well as doing it in the most horrendously messy means possible.

We suspect this feature will make Death Darts obsolete.

Ion Cannon Enhancement (Shieldbreakers)

A simple enough enhancement to Ion Cannons such that the weapons will have a larger impact radius and greater effective yield when utilized against the shielding of enemy vessels. Overall damage against hull and ship systems will be reduced overall, however a simple switch to Shardbolts will make that issue somewhat moot.

NEW FLEET ORGANIZATION

Technically this project was given such a large time to complete as time was required to successfully conduct the construction and reformatting of the entirety of the Godulan Star Navy.

With the construction of three new Godulan combat vessel classes, and the restructuring of the Godulan Mako towards an emphasis on Close-Range combat, it has been deemed necessary to conduct a full-scale reformat of the Godulan StarNavy, such that each Godulan Battlefleet, consisting of 1000 vessels total, will be made up of the following vessels in their specific proportions:

- GODULAN MAKO STAR DESTROYER (850)
- GODULAN COSSACK MARAUDER (100)
- GODULAN DEMONWING SIEGE DREADNAUGHT (30)
- GODULAN NIGHTFALL SNIPER CRUISER (20)

Kython Evolutions

All evolutions completed. Also included secret project: Euclidean Cloak

What can I say, I'd been meaning to keep track of this thing better but the bloody forum tools screwed up on me...

DESCRIPTION:

EUCLIDEAN CLOAK

This is a nifty little mechanism intended as a means to avoid detection as well as an interesting workaround of multiple suppression mechanisms.

The concept is simple enough on paper, however the execution is quite complex indeed. It is a form of cloaking device that, instead of warping light around it, the Kython vessel will warp space itself around it, essentially turning the fabric of the universe itself into the cloak. This is not an FTL/Dimension breaking event.

The mechanism essentially renders the vessel undetectable and unattackable, save two primary conditions:

1) The cloak leaves a telltale positive gravity bump that is easily detectable by mass sensors.

2) The cloaked vessel still cannot occupy the same space as other matter in realspace.

Any attempt to fire upon the cloaked vessel will cause all incoming fire to veer off, due to the spacial warping involved. And as the cloaked vessel is no longer anything but a gravitonic bump, it cannot be destroyed by singularities unless struck directly, nor can it be affected by any gravitonic effects, as the offending gravity field really has nothing to act upon.

A useful effect for a stealthy race... indeed indeed.

Quantum-Fractal Research

This is a precursor to the Fractal Render weapon slated for development at a later time.

The Fractal Gun, a directed-charge version of the time-tested Flux Cannon, deals damage in two points. It deals damage to shielding as a beam of focused spatial distortion energy, and deals damage to everything else upon detonation into what is called a 'Shatterspace Anomaly' in which the fabric of reality in the affected region rips itself apart, destroying everything caught within apart.

However, with continuing advances in Probability Drive research and exotic particle physics, it was recently realized that a Fractal weapon would be capable of being converted into a weapon of even greater power by converting some of its energy into a form of condensed momentum. This weapon has already been tested and realized in smaller scale, known as the Quantum Render, and is already in use among the Godulan Marines and the Gendarmes.

With the completion of this research, larger scale development, and initiation of the Fractal Render program, would be made available.

Scatterspray Shielding Enhancement

With the development of this technology upgrade, the previously implemented Scatterspray shields have been bestowed with the ability to direct the distortions utilized by the shielding to reduce even further any incoming enemy damage.

To a small degree, this would also allow the Godulan Vessel sustaining the shield a limited capacity to return fire whilst within the protective arc of the Scatterspray.
