The Layartebian Defense Corporation has finally completed the OPV Project. The goal of this project was to create a powerful, compact, and highly advanced naval vessel for light maritime duties. These duties include, but are not limited to, counter-drug operations, patrol, anti-terrorism, limited anit-submarine, limited anti-surface, counter-intelligence, mine detection, and search and rescue. The design selected has been the Comhghall class.

The Comhghall Class OPV is a PC class patrol corvette. The ship is 300 feet long, 50 feet wide, and drafts 15 feet. This 2,500 ton vessel is powered by two 5,500 HP diesel engines and is equipped with an auxiliary 375 HP bow thruster for port duties and quick manuevering. 2 Controllable-Reversible Pitch Propellers are used to drive the ship to a maximum of 34 knots and 3 rudder provide steering. At 12 knots, the ship can sustain a range of 7,800 nautical miles and is capable of navigating through hurricanes.

Crew members include six officers, twenty-four enlistees, and up to sixteen special forces soldiers. All SOFs can be deployed on a pair of RHIBs carried inside the ship. A single SH-60R Seahawk can be carried as well for ASW, SAR, and other duties.

The ships' sensors are highly advanced and include high-frequency sonars, active & passive sonar, radar, a towed sonar array, fathometers, flux gate compasses, and other important and necessary systems.

Weaponry comes in form of several types. On the bow, the ship is equipped with a single Mk 110 Mod 0 57 mm/70 (2.25") main gun with 120 rounds ready & 1,000 stowed. For missile defense, the ship is equipped with a single 16-cell VLS system located aft. Standard load includes Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles for air defense and VL-ASROC missiles for ASW. A pair of Mk 141 Harpoon launchers are equipped with 8 missiles for anti-ship duties. For self-defense, the ship is equipped with two Phalanx systems, fitted stern and bow, each gun with 15,500 rounds. Additional systems include a single Rolling Airframe Missile mount with 21 missiles. Lastly, the ship carries four bow torpedo tubes in the diameter of 324 millimeters. A typical load of 24 Mark 50 Barracuda torpedoes is held.

Cost for this vessel is stated at $185M for indigenous purposes and $225M for export.

The export version offers downgraded avionics (classified EOL systems absent), RGM-84G Harpoon missiles, RIM-162B ESSM missiles, RUM-139C VL-ASROC missiles, and costs $225M.

The Comhghall Class can support a pair of MANPAD launchers with up to 21 missiles per launcher (1 loaded, 20 stowed). MANPADs are not sold with the export variant.

Orders maybe?
Varsola
17-09-2005, 03:39
It was one of the few things that the Board of Corporations had ever agreed on. Buying Patrol vessels to partol Varsola's massive coastline was necessary (since smuggling, as expected in country like Varsola, was rampant). And, again expected, Varsolan partol vessels, though outfitted with machineguns, did not float (""cutting costs").

We would like to purchase ______ of ______ for _______.

The Varsolan Board of Corporations.

That was how the form went. This is how it ended up.

We would like to purchase 11 of the Comhghall Class OPV for testing. Bulk orders may be recieved in the future, if testing suceeds.

The Varsolan Board of Coporations.

Thumbtacked to the note were no less than 12 Varsolan Arms Manufacturers asking if availible and how much production rights would cost. This was a typical Varsolan response.

Nice patrol boat Layarteb. I would be interested if the boat could be retrofitted with a 5 or 6 inch gun. The navy brass has to have a "gun" to appease themselves.

The Incorporated States of SkyCapt wish to place an order for 200 Comhghall Class Offshore Patrol Vessels to boost our Smuggler Patrol fleet. The total cost comes to $25 Billion, and the money has been wired. Have a nice day.

The Regime of Adejaani wishes to purchase four (4) of these patrol vessels in the short term, for evaluation purposes before we make a permanent decision.

Varsola: The EOL approves the sale of 11 of them but denies production rights.

Hawdawg: The LDC has looked into the possibility of mounted a 5 inch gun but space was not allowed yet. Perhaps in a future flight, when/if we upgrade VLS, we will offer a larger gun but, at the moment, nothing is available yet.

SkyCapt: The EOL has approved sale of 200 to your country.

Adejaani: Due to your political system, the EOL cannot sell any vessels to your country. We apologize.

Re: Comhgall Class OPV

We understand the limits of the design in not allowing a 5 inch gun at this time. We would like to purchase a group for Coast Guard use and would ask that when/if a main gun option becomes available we may have these vessels retrofited with it. Our initial order will be 50 ships total cost 11.25 Billion, wired upon confirmation of order.

Certainly this can be arranged. Should a future flight come out incorporating a larger gun, the retrofits can be done to the existing hulls at the mere difference of the cost of the two. Order is confirmed.

For a fellow New Yorker I shall gladly approve. Tough to live in the greatest and only real city in the world. You are confirmed and the $90B shall be accepted as payment on final delivery.

Where in NYC are you?

Flushing, Queens here. I actually attend the Bronx High School of Science, 1 hour commute everyday starting at 6 AM. Sux, but it'll be worth it sooner or later.

Ah yeah I just moved to the Bronx. I used to live in Mount Vernon last year. Prior to that it was on campus at Iona in New Ro and prior to that at home in Elmont, not far from Flushing, right on the Queens border there.

Small world huh?

Shitty commute though. My commute is like 10 - 15 minutes up the Hutch to New Ro. It's fun!

Did you know the Whitestone Bridge is the sister bridge of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, same design, they are now reinforcing the deck of it to prevent a Tacoma Narrows style disaster. I am on that thing every day. :(

The Boardmembers of the C.C.E., have voted unaminously for a proposal to purchase 25 of these vessels. They serve in the C.N.D., Corporate Naval Defence forces, in the interest of preserving our shores. Additional units may be purchased in the future.

$4,625,000,000 has been allocated, and will be wired to your accounts as specified, upon confirmation of this Order.

Yes I did. That bridge is such a nightmare to cross. I prefer the Throggs Neck to be honest. However, the White Stone puts me a lot closer to my apartment (exit 2 on the Hutch). Throggs Neck kind of gives me a little further away. I feel for you on that sucker daily. I hate driving over it to visit my mother in Elmont.

OOC: Nice work. If we weren't of different national alignments and if I didn't have a law prohibiting me from purchasing most foreign products, I'd probably buy quite a few of these.

The Empire has deemed that 202 patrol vessels will be required for our own defense, at this present time. This total order will cost the Empire $37.37B. In light of this order, the LDC will be speeding up production on already ordered vessels. This will not reduce quality but rather consist mainly of more ship-yards doing the same task. Vessels will be ready approximately 10% sooner than originally forcasted.

Thank you. I am not sure if you were aware but from way back when I had you on a quasi-ignore list so I kind of wouldn't have sold to you anyway but I do appreciate the complement.
