OOC: Sign Up for a Cold War Thread [NS Style]

Dracun imperium
15-09-2005, 02:33
Ok this isn't a US/Soviet Cold War it will be between me and Romandeos. It was planned long ago but forgotten about when Dracun left NS so I'm back so we are going to try again. There will be a total of six sign ups [Me and Romandeos don't count] three for each nation so it will be fair. There won't be a war in the beginning [explained later] but there may very well be one at the end of it.

Plot
A Dracun submarine on patrol will enter Romandeos waters due to a navigational error and end up under attack by Romandeosian Naval Force. The crew will be captured and brought to Romandeos which will lead to high tensions from both nations, allies will be called in and the stage will be set for a colossal war that can be averted or fought brutally.
[If you have a better idea by all means suggest it]

The point of this thread is simple, to serve as a discussion and planning thread and later the OOC Thread. So if you are interested post here saying you'd be interested.

Dracian Allies & Description
-Dracun is a nation ruled by Ansem, a leader whose brutality will know no bounds. He is however loyal to allies but to his nation first most even though he will be abusing it soon enough. He has no tolerance for any offense to the Imperium and will strike at a moment's notice. He is helped by the group known as the Order.

Romandeosian Allies
-Romandeos is a constitutional monarchy, in which a generally kind Royal Family rules a largely honest and hard-working population. The government is currently held by King Christian Woodburne I and Prime Minister Taunja Lockeheart. They are very loyal to all its allies and has no tolerance for Folks killing Romandeosian citizens, or citizens of countries allied to Romandeos, informally or formally.

My loyalties lay with cash, so if either side is willing to hire mercenaries. Although it sounds as if Dracun imperium is more likely to hire mercenaries.

EDIT: if anyone would like to join, but slots are filled, consider me expendable

[If you have a better idea by all means suggest it]

I have a way to mix it up a little more - make it 2 mistakes. - the Dracun vessel enters the Romandeos waters due to a navigational error. However, the waters they enter are currently "off limits" because the Romandeos and Mauiwowee navy and airforce are conducting joint, live fire, military exercises in the area. As the Dracun ship enters the area, it is fired upon, originally, by mistake by me and/or Romandeos due to the fact we are engaged in live fire exercises. When they are fired upon, the Dracun vessel figures it is being subjected to an unprovoked attack and fires back - maybe downing a plane or two or damaging a ship at which time the "exercise" becomes "real" and the Dracun vessel is captured. That way Dracun can claim they entered the waters by mistake and fired only in self-defense when they were attacked in an unprovoked nature and Romandeos and his allies can claim they initially fired by mistake on the Dracun vessel, but then they fired a second time in self-defense due to an unprovoked attack by a vessel appearing where it should not have been.

Just an idea on how to complicate matters.

Super Cavitating Torpedo Specs

Based on the 1977, Soviet made skval supercavitating torpedo - enhanced by research to provide guidance (the soviet torpedo was a "straight line" model that once fired could not change course).

Speed: 350 mph
Max Effective Range: 15 miles

Targeting: Advanced ADCAP-CBASS( Advanced Capabilities, Common Broadband Advanced Sonar System), adapted from the US MK48 Series of torpedoes currently in use in RL and placed on the sub-fighter which relays guidance commands to the torpedo. Wire launch guidance and GPS programable targeting system enhanced with 45 Degree course change capability/limit.
Propulsion: Liquid Hydrogen Rocket Engine
Guidance: Thrust Vectoring with cantalevering fin tips that project out of the supercavitation bubble and enhanced cavitation using exhaust gases. Dual plane moveable cavitational surface with closed loop computer controlled coordination between all control surfaces and thrust vectoring to effect course changes for torpedo and cavitational "bubble."
Operational Depth: To 1,500 feet.
Cost: $4.2 Million per torpedo - Concussive Exploding head with 425 lbs. high intensity concussive explosive.
