NAJASTER, Kahanistan (AP) - The nation's capital has been the victim of terrorist extremists today, claiming to be opposed to Kahanistan's recent joining of the United Nations (UN).
At 11:35 AM GMT, six explosions took place almost simultaneously in the capital city of Najaster. The targets were the UN Mission in the International district, the Presidential Office, and the National Defense Forces headquarters, each bombed by what are believed to be two civilian transport trucks, packed with an estimated 50 metric tons each of high explosives.
Casualties include the Supreme Marshal of the Kahanistan Armed Forces, General of the Army Khalid Omar bin Amar and most of his staff, UN Ambassador Abu Jalal al-Qamar, and Minister of Defense Jamal bin Hassan al-Shariq, who was awaiting a meeting with President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if, who was not yet at the office and is unharmed, at an undisclosed location. The death toll exceeded 20,000 in the National Defense Forces headquarters alone, a 160-story highrise.
The terrorist group Tahrir Al-Ummah claimed responsibility. In a manifesto issued after the attack, its supreme commander, Kemal Abdallah, declared, "We will not sit idly by and watch our once-great warrior's nation debase itself before the meddling UN, and surrender its sovereignty to those countries who have not even fought wars in centuries. This attack will be the first blow to driving the international scum out of Kahanistan."
Kahanistan's President al-Za'if condemned the attack in uncharacteristically vicious language. "We will exterminate these terrorist shitfilth one by one, and we will nuke any country that harbors them, massacring their entire populations, poison their drinking water, and bury their mutilated carcasses in the most unclean and polluted areas on Earth, which are not fit for human habitation." Al-Za'if's aides attributed the normally stoic and tolerant President's speech to his anger at seeing his goal of a global Kahanistan go up in flames. Al-Za'if, 44, continued his tirade further. "I call upon all loyal allies of Kahanistan to hunt down and slaughter these subhuman butchers, and any country that harbors them to either expel them to Kahanistan for torture and execution, or kill them themselves and return the carcasses to Kahanistan as proof that they are dead, so that your countries will be spared the wrath of our nuclear arsenal. Those nations have 48 hours to comply."
Kahanistan's constitution stringently prohibits torture. Kahanistan is party to at least five international treaties banning the use of torture.
