Location: Launch pad control room 18b, The Citadel, Axinon.

William McConnel looked at his palm pilot and smiled. Exactly two minutes until launch. Perfect. He leaned back and relished in his moment of triumph. It was HIS idea to build this thing after all. A satellite that can deliver nuclear weapons to any point on the globe in minutes. When this thing goes online, he thought, no one will be able to attack Axinon.

Not bad for the youngest President in Axinon's history. In his first term, he had seen a booming economy, a growing trade surplus and the colonization of Alphinon. And now, this, his crowning achievement was about to lift off into space

10 seconds to liftoff

A smile crossed his face

No one in the control room could contain their excitement.

William got up and prepared to leave
"Dan, inform me when the satellite is in space."
"Yes, sir."

And with that, the President boarded his plane and flew back to Extrilla [OOC: Axinon's Capital]

OOC: Can we talk about this on the OOC board? Its my fault I didn't provide a link. HERE (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=443743&page=2) it is. Also, this is a PMT roleplay... anyway, we can talk about this on the OOC boards, ok?

Williams sleep was interrupted by the ring of his phone.

"...... It's 2 in the morning so you'd better have a good reason to call..."
"Sir, I have bad news"
"What... are those PETA members rioting in the streets again..."
"No sir, the satellite’s rocket has had its main computer shut down"
"WHAATTT?!?!?!?!"
"The satellite’s rocket has had its main computer shut down."
"Where is the rocket now?"
"It is currently over the eastern sea. We are using an on-board homing device to track it"
"You'd better not loose this thing. It cost too much to just let it go away. Prepare a team to retrieve it if it lands over a body of water."
"And if it lands in another country?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it..."
"Good night, sir"
But now William had no inclination to sleep...

*Inside the Dominion Aerospace Radar Center (DARC)
-The Dominion of DMG*

"Uh - sir... you better take a look at this."

"What is it private?"

"Sir, I am tracking an incoming missile of some kind... At its altitude and angle it may be an ICBM, although it is kind of strang-"

"Henson, get the Supreme Allied Commander and The Supreme Ruler on the Hot-line."

"Yes si-"

"MOVE IT, NOW!"

Henson went to the Hot-line as the DARC commander turned back to radar screen.

"You were saying private."

"Well sir, it appears to have the trajectory of an ICBM but it much larger than any ICBM that I know of."

"Good work private - monitor the radar and keep me posted."

He turned back to Henson who was holding the Com-Link.

"I am sorry for waking you this early in the morning but it is urgent. We are tracking an incoming UFO. It appears to have the trajectory of an ICBM but it is much too large. I am asking permission to bring the armed forces to DefCon 1 and set the nation at full alert."

"Very well - it appears we are under attack or soon will be," said the President as he ended the ComLink. Henson walked to the command platform, hit the alert siren and picked up the speakerphone.

*WHIRRRR WHIRRR WHIRRR*

"Gentlemen. We are now at DefCon 1. This is not a drill - we are under attack from an unknown force and will most likely soon be at war. The nation has been brought to full alert and is awaiting our response. I want sattelites on this object. Get me the estimated point of intact. Lets do it boys."

*Back at Strategic Military Command*

The Supreme Allied Commander had been rushed to the command center during the first alert. He was now in a room with his military advisors and was planning their response.

"Ok boys. This is it. We are under attack and will soon be at war. Move The Supreme Ruler to his bunker. I want all military forces including reserves brought to full alert and ready to go at a moments notice. Get Xaro (airforce base) on the phone - I want a squad of Angels scrambeled double time and I want them intercepting any incoming forces. Sent a company of Rangers to the Impact sight after detonation - I want to know who fired that MISSILE and I want it NOW!"

The Guardian Angels were scrambeled and the military was brought to full alert. All that was left to do - was sit back and enjoy the bonfire.

"Sir, we've mapped the trajectory of the rocket"
"And?"
"It appears to be on course to crash down in the nation of DMG. What should we do?"
"If it does crash down there get the leader of DMG on the phone"
"Ok"
"But wait for it to actually crash first"
"Ok"
"Meanwhile, bring up the world factbook entry on DMG"
"Yes sir"

The whole situation was making William nervous.
"What if a war starts over this....... no I wont let that happen" he said to himself, altogether unconvincingly.

"Sir, preliminary reports are in. They report that the object appears to be a satellite of some kind. They are putting out the fires and preparing it for movement to a military lab for study. We will have more infomation later, sir"

"Call The Supreme Allied Commander, alert him of the situation and maintain the nation on full alert - watch the skies, seas, and lines of communication. Report to me every 15 minutes."

A presidential aid walked into the executive office. "Sir, It’s been confirmed. The satellite has crashed down over DMG. According to the calculations, the impact should not have been enough to destroy it."

"Ok," sighed William. "I need to get a hold of the leader of DMG. Do we have him on the hotwire?"

"No, sir. We have felt no need to hotwire DMG as we have had no previous interaction with them."

"Well, get into contact with their leader somehow. We MUST get it back."

"Yes sir"

William thought for a moment. "I also need to contact ADC and the Citadel"

"Whom should I call first?"

"Call the Citadel. Tell them I need to meet with General O'Conner ASAP. Then, contact DMG. But make sure ADC knows I may call, so if something comes up, I won't get put on hold again"

"Yes, sir" and with that the aid was off.

The low-orbit tracking center picked up the satallite launch from Axinon, as well as it's crash in the nation of DMG.

The information was passed to the MFI, who researched into the nature of the satallite.

"Director, there appears to be a crashed nuclear satallite in DMG."
The Director made a come-on gesture.
"Well, it appears to be designed to be able to launch nuclear missiles from orbit, it would provide a useful addition."
"Well then, prepare an I'n'E team, they have a mission to do."

Early Morning at The Mondoth Sattelite Survey and Mapping Co:
Sir, early today, the nation of Axinon launched a nuclear capable sattelite, its a good design and was launched presumably with a full load of warheads."
"Yes? And? Nations are always launching nuclear capable sattelites, put it on the list with the others and leave it be, let the MSA handle it."
"Sir, with all due respect, the sattelite crashed into the nation of DMG not 3 hours ago, DMG has been established as a government that does not need to have this kind of thing right now and with their track record, frankly the analysts are afraid somebody else could steal it."

"Well SH)t, I'll have it knocked up to JSOC, we'll just have to steal it first."
The analyst was about to respond but the General in charge of the Mondothian Intelligence Communitee was already on the phone to his partner in joint special operations command.

Eight Hours Later, an unknown location presumably near DMG sovereign waters:

The Fable class ships were supposedly nearing time to be decommissioned, they were old for the most part, very old. However, the class was no where near decomissioning time, a mid operational life refit and several smaller upgrades had seen to that, thus, while the world believed Mondoths ability to covertly deposit troops to any shore in the world was quickly diminishing, it in fact remained a core part of the Mondothian strategy. a few tens of fathoms beneath the surface (just deep enough to avoid surface detection) the submersable amphibious assault ship opened its relatevely small clamshell doors, revealing an airlock just large enough for a single SFDS. the submersible landing craft silently crept forward until it was beyond the Fable ships doors and then it rapidly accelerated, its muted MHD thrusters leaving virtually no acoustic trace of its rapid penetration into DMGs waters. A mile or so down the border, a Shadow class hunterkiller submarine was waiting for the signal to launch its small fleet of noise makers that had been specially reprogrammed to be deafening to almost any sonar system. True to its operating principle, the Mondoth J-force of special operatives was about to deliver another 'special' cargo onto not exactly friendly territory, with plausible denaiability less than 12 hours since the call to arms had been recieved.

The first responders had finished securing the sattelite and securing the area. They were preparing to move it from the crash sight to a undisclosed military instillation. Patrols of the entire nation had begun and the newly developed F-90 Guardian Angels could be heard soaring over the skies.

*Message sent to all nations*
"Due to recent events in our nation we have brought our military to full alert. Any unapproved activities in our land, air space, or regional waters will be considered a threat to our nation and we will take action. The ship, aircraft, vehicle, or personnel that has ilegally entered into our domain will be shot and destroyed/killed without any questions. Our aircraft are patrolling the air and if they come into contact with any aircraft, be it civilian, fighter, bomber, transport, helicopter, or anyother kind they will immediately fire upon them. The same goes with the coastal waters. Our submarines are patroling the waters while our surface ships are guarding the landing zones - any uninvited guests will be shot and sank without hesitation. If you fail to take this warning seriously - you will regret it.

This is The Supreme Allied Commander of Dominion Forces, from the Warooms - out!"

The Nistolonian Intelligence was swarming with activity as it always was, and Urius pushed his way through the crowded room to where Derlion was waving him over.
"What is it, Derlion?" he asked, looking over at the computer screen. "Another space rock?"
"Ah, no. It's some kind of satallite. Axinon make. It just impacted here. No explosion. DMG territory."
"mmm..." Urius looked bored. "Why do we care where some idiots sattalite landed?"
"Well, DMG has mobilized, and Mondoth has sent in something to DMG, we dont know what, as you can see here. We see a sub depart from from Mondath here, and here we have a sonar burst (he flipped rapidly through images). So we can assume they dropped something off."
"Well, I guess it's important then."
"Should we tell DMG about Mondoth?"
Urius looked puzzeled. "Why? They havent done anything for us. How many operatives do we have in DMG and in Axinon?"
"A few. We havent delt with them much."
"Keep me posted."
Urius went off to re-fill his coffee.

The I'n'E team had been prepared, and shipped to a spot a distance outside DMG waters.

Each of the eight members of the team exited from the low flying craft into the water. As the eight floated in the water, the method of transportation was lowered into the water.

Each of the eight spread out a decent distance and began heading toward DMG, travelling around five meters underwater.

With thier small size, nearly nil auditory signal, and the fact there was a violent storm sweeping the surface, they knew there was almost no chance of being discovered.

Urius was once again leaning over Derlions shoulder, watching the images come in from sattelite uplink and a few operatives on shore. "Others. Those shapes on the beach there."
The storm meant sattelite imagry was down, but this was taken by a NIS agent off-shore. It was blury and grainy, and the origin of the interlopers was impossable to tell, but they were there none the less.

"Click on file labeled Sattelite Audio one."

"Derlion, where the hell did you find this? This is DMG gov property."
"Another agent. He has some bug running in that area, the sattelite area, monitering all radio communications in and out." Derlion sounded pleased.

Subject: Sattelite Crash

We have recieved confirmation that the sattelite is yours - however we are currently detecting incoming hostile forces and have been monitoring enemy chatter. It seems as if many nations would like to get their hands on this sattelite - we would like to know more about it and why it is so important to so many nations.

We are currently in the process of securing and retrieving the sattelite - however our forces have met hostile resistance from unknown forces. We have reason to believe that they are terrorist organizations based in DMG, but have not been able to confirm this. As I have said we are tracking incoming enemy forces, however a storm is disrupting our systems and are unable to confirm anything. We are preparing for an assault on our nation and suggest that if you would like your sattelite back, you gear up for war - as it seems some nations do not want you to have it.

I will keep in touch,

A lone trawler was drogueing the area with its nets, every several hours hauling in a new 'catch' of plastc fish, the fish were photorealistic and even had little electric motors in them so they twitched realistically as they were pulled from the water. After being pulled from the water the fish were dumped right back in from secret tubes running from underneath the deck right to where the nets were deployed. after a day or two the fishs' batteries would run dead and the tralwer would be replaced with another. The tralwler only appeared normal from the water though, if a sattelite or recon drone/aircraft happened to get a good look at the trawler from above, the analyss would have a field day identifying all the lenses and domes concealed from the surface, but necesarily open to the sky. however, the purpose of these domes ond lenses was to prevent such a thing from ever happening.

the trawler was one of Mondoth's fleet of special 'black boats' ships that never touched Mondothian waters, never flew Mondothian flags, the crews never even spoke english, spanish or arabic, Mondoth's native languages, and, on paper, the ships never existed.

The lenses were a variety of high powered lasers, capable of blinding any camera, whether held by a tourist, clicking away fromt he underbelly fo a plane or drone, or scrying silently from the heavens via sattelite. The domes consisted of a variety of radar and communications jamiing equipment, incredibly focused, the jammers could make a sattelite thousands of miles away 'disapear' from communications while a crewmen migh be conversing with his mother on a sattelite phone (using a different sattelite of course) and the radar jammers had a similar effect on sattelite based imaging radars. Both systems were just as effective against aircraft and drones as they were against sattelites. The point of all this technological marvel and plausible deniability was that if Mondoth didn't want someone to see something, they wouldn't see it.

This particular 'black boat' was coming on position off the coast of DMG and as soon as it entered the ie arc of the area, sattelites went blind, from IR to visible light, to UV imaging systems were overwhelmeed by focused lasers while radar imaging sattelites were hoplessly jammed and communications sattelites went suddenly off-line, but that was just comercial 'birds' military ones were considerably harder to 'remove as an asset' but the wide variety of systems available would almost certainly ensure blindness in unfriendly eyes.

Under this cover the J-force insertion team came ashore, all in camoflauge patterns displayed by the advanced LEGION uniform, capable of shifting camoflauge paterns automatically to match climate, terrain, and visible light levels. by no means cloaks of invisibilty but highly effective against the unaided eye and night vision systems. Piezoelectric threads held strips of the same fabric away fromt he soldiers bodies, breaking up the outline and turning already sci-fi esque operatives into truely aliean looking beings, but when the held stil, or only moved with the wind (as they almost always did) they appeared nothing more than piles of rocks, bushes or smal trees.

The first four quicly and quietly came ashore under cover of darkness, the storm, and the technological marvels of the 'black boat' hanging off coast in international waters. The point team quickly secured the area for the arriving SFDS landing craft holding the remainder of the troops and some transportation to the objective.

"Sir, we've recieved disturbing transmissions from sattlite AL-032."

"What is it"

"Here you can clearly see a boat, cant tell what it is, it appears to be some sort of fishing vessel. Here's the disturbing part. After photographing the reagon for a couple minutes, the sattlite has produced wayyyyy overexposed images. Nothing can be made out. Furhtermore, we have not been able to make radio contact with it, and had to contact it through the space laser network"

"Hmmm... I doubt that that boat had anything to do with it, it looks just like a normal fishing vessel. Probably a conincedence. Send a few SR-71bs over the reagon to photograph it. I'm not going to do anything untill then.

How is the preperation of the Navy going?"

"Very well. The task force will be ready to go tonight and the main naval force will be ready by next week."

the SUbmersible Force Deployment System type landing craft emerged fromt he water like a silent leviathan, sliding up the beach on low friction pads and propelled by a pair of MHD thrusters. as soon as the clamshell 'gates' were out of the water they swung ponderously open, revealing a group of Cheetah electric special forces ATVs and a pair of Ferret high mobility vehicles. As soon as the 'gates' opened the reduced special operations company took off, whispering away fromt he sea on nearly silent electric vehicles, seeking to put as much distance between themselves and any likely landing site before the 'Black Boat' had to close shop lest it be detected, at the first sign of enemy spy aircraft that carried pilots instead of or as well as spoofable cameras, the trawlers had to replace the false tops that gave tehm the appearance of normality and effectively blocked their ability to shade areas where unmentionable activities were taking place.

With the Appearance of the SR-71s, the 'Black Boat' disapeared, covers in place it looked just like a regular fishing trawler. it would linger in the area to avoid suspiscion, and incase its special systems were needed again but for the most part its job was done, by now the J-force troopers would be well away from the landing zone where sattelite surveilance would be hard pressed to pick them up.

On the ground, the small force was moving steadily towards the site identified as the one most likely for the sattelite to have been taken to, carefully avoiding enemy patrols and well travelled areas the team continued its advance.

They send a radio transmission for them to turn back or risk being attacked, but as they were about to lose a missile lock on them and had recieved no response, - they fired. So far we haven't spotted any invasion forces to claim the sattelite, but recent chatter shows that many nations are interested in it and are sending in SpecOps or recon teams. Our forces are standing by, to respond to any threat.

Also, sir, I am not sure if it is of enough significance to mention... but... well, our air patrols noticed a boat in the ocean. It appears to be a small fishing boat... but it is a bit odd for such a boat to be at sea in this storm we are having. That is all."

"Yeh, and even if there was, they would have to get by the spot lights, motion sensors, guard towers, IR cameras, trip wires, dogs, and not mention three different layers of walls..."

"Yeh, no way anyone could get past all that, but all I am saying is that don't you think with recent events and all the chatter that there would be something happening... its just a little too quiet if you know what I mean."

"What, you would rather have those patrols of F-90s flying by every 15 minutes. Why do they have to fly so close to the ground..."

"No, but-"

His words were lost as the deafening sound of two F-90 Guardian Angels flew by, with their engines roaring so close to the ground.

The boat from the satellite images seems to have been just a fishing vessel, nothing important there. One of our SR-71s was lost over DMG, but the other 2 are intact and their pilots are being de-briefed now."

William muttered something inaudible, and than gave the order: "Send a special ops team over to DMG ASAP. Use plan USTD-3. Also, intensify satellite surveillance of DMG and use some high-flying SR-71's. We can’t afford to loose another one like Nighthawk-2 through low altitude spying. The Company was moving fast now, having just recieved word of the location of the main objective. The g4roup was mainly staying out of sight and avoiding regularly searched areas, but unless the other teams they had just recieved word about drew off the patrols, it was only a matter of time before they would be detected.

On the "Black Boat" things were very busy, first the SR-71s, and now an approaching Navy cutter. Quickly the captain got ont he radio, speaking in french, the language of the nation whse flag they were currently flying.
"Bateau d'approche, vous effrayez les poissons*" Immediately after he ordered his crew to deactivate the fake fishes. With a few flicks of switches, the next cycle of fake fishes would go to a secret hold grafted to the bottom of the ship instead of back into the nets. A few buttons and several electric motors began wirring quietly, rearanging the netso that it appeared like a real trawler net instead of one designed to get a load of fake fishes from a hole under the boat. The Hole under the boat was closed and in minutes the entire operation would appear completely legit under all but the closest scrutiny.

The 'Fishing Boat" Made its way to shore, dragging its nets and generally trying to stay at sea as long as possible. Meanwhile the Captain and first-mate opened a panel in the bridge revealing a pair of USB ports. Each pulled a small USB fob out and plugged it into one of the ports, closing the panel it closed fluch with the rest of the bridge surfaces, like the other panels, that disguised the boats special equipment, it was hidden from view and extremely hard to open. With the fobs in place, the trawler went into lockdown, nothing beyond the normal Trawler equipment could be accessed while the fobs were in place unless both the captain and first mate were onboard with their individual Radio Access systems that were disguised as cigarrettes, one or the other would attempt to leave the boat as soon as it reached shore to prevent the boats secret being revealed. if however he was stopped, the other would begin smoking so that he could easily toss the accessor over board in the event that a search team came too close to discovering a secret while bothaccessors were on board. If any of the boats secrets were forcibly opened or revealed, the ship would explode violently from incendiary devices in the gas tanks and explosives in the secret compartments.

On shore the had come surprisingly close to their objective befoe event he slightest hint of resitance showed itself. That 'hint' came on the form of a flight of F-90 Guardian Angel's screaming overhead, as the aircraft came into sight a brilliant explosion lit up the sky as several napalm bombs ignited, not exactly close, but close enough to cause many soldier to jump with surprise. As the fighters passed overhead however, several more experienced soldiers shouldered Merlin Integrated Infantry Missile systems, flipping the switch from 'AT Top Attack" to "AA, Infra-Red" they tracked in on the fighters, letting loose a small volley of very fast and highly maneuverable anti-air missiles. Immediately the rest of the troops shouldered weapons and sought cover, the vehicles' gunners took their seats and brought weapons on line, preparing for anything.

The reason we launched the satellite is that we felt that our national defense would be greatly benefited by its ability to serve the following strategic roles:

A.) Destruction of military emplacements in a hostile nation

B.) Destruction of hostile ships

C.) Attack of large hostile troop formations in sparsely populated areas.

We have no intention of ever using this weapon to attack civilian targets, although any nuclear weapon could be used that way. Let me assure you though, killing non-combatants has never been part of our military doctrine, and we would only do so in extremely dire circumstances.

Axinon is proud of its record. We have only been involved in one war, and that was because we were attacked unprovoked by a corrupt uber-millitant state. We will not use this weapon in aggressive action.

As for our spies, we have none. Before this incident, we had never interacted with DMG and felt no reason to spy on them. Afterward, your defenses had been tightened so much that we determined that attempting any covert action would be futile. The only spying we have done has been via SR-71 flyovers and satellite photographs. If our satellite is returned we will cease these.

As for reparations, are you including the attack on your compound by outside forces in that? If not, than sure. If so than... I'll need to see the bill. If you launch a counterattack on the nations that attacked you, we will aid either way.

As for transport, the battlecruiser Unstoppable will be sent to pick up the satellite from the shore. To get it to the shore, Axinon could land infantrymen to come and pick it up (some members of a scrapped Spec Ops force landing). If you do not want Axinonian soldiers on your land, we can airlift it out with some helicopters. Transport from there will be simple, the Unstoppable will sail back to Axinon. Any additional security after it leaves DMG territory will be arranged by the Axinon Navy.

Thank you for your great handling of the situation
Respectfully,
William McConnel

PS: If you need it, we can attempt to help you clear out the spec ops forces quickly with airpower to supplement that which you have already deployed to the situation.

We see your need for a nuclear deterrent and are in no way judging you for having it.

Although, we do not believe you lack spies in our nation, we are at this time willing to accept your response.

On the matter of reparations... yes we are including the attack and damage upon our military compound - as since the reason it has been damaged and some of our soldiers killed is due to your sattelite.

As for transportation - the Unstoppable is an acceptable method of transportation provided that you can get the sattelite. At this time however it is still under attack and on military lockdown. This means at present time we cannot allow your battlecruiser into Dominion Wartime Costal Waters.

Regards,
Secretary of Foreign Affairs

P.S. Although we would be grateful for your help, air support is not necessary - we have a sizable Air Force to do the job, unfortunately when dealing with Spec Ops... Air Force rarely can do the job alone.

From: Axinon Fleet Admiral George O'Conner

President McConnel has informed me that what you "really need his men on the ground shooting those bastards".

If you want, we can send paratroopers into the general region of Darkspace, and close on the enemy positions. Those are the only infantrymen we can get to the area in any sort of timeliness, as our landers and Spec Ops sub (from an aborted spec ops mission) are too far away from DMG to do any good.

Also... if you can pin down the coordinates of your attackers (especially any large targets, like a ship or sub), and they reasonably can be expected to not move for 5 minutes or so...

Don’t tell any other nations about this, but we have another satellite, not unlike the one you recovered, except it is smaller and fires conventional payloads. The odds of a small ship or a Tank/APC surviving a hit from our space based weapon platform is... slim. The purpose of this satellite is precision strikes on military targets in densely populated areas with a missile shield, but it will be fine in this role too.

Paratroopers will be acceptable. We would request that you, if not already installed, insert a signal emitter tuned to the classified frequency below. This will insure that our soldiers and vehicles do not shoot at them. If you can't or wont install the signal emitters, I can not ensure their safety from friendly fire.

Again, we would use your sattelite to target the enemy, but unfortunately the soldiers on the ground are to hard to target - and the only ship to be sank is being dealt with by our navy.

On board the AxS P239 (known by her crew as "Big Willie") the 32ndParatrooper division was preparing for action.

In a briefing room, Commander Sam Samson was giving his men a prep talk." Ok men, this is it. The day we have all been training for. We are going to parachute into this area of DMG, and engage the unknown forces attempting to infiltrate the allied compound and steal materials important to Axinon's security. Our support will come in the form of DMG units already in the area, primarily aircraft. We must drive off, or preferably capture the unknown enemy units. Let’s go men."

With that the paratroopers grabbed their 'chutes, M8s, body armor and survival kits. Within 20 minutes, the first of four transport planes lifted gracefully off the port runway.

"Dan, remember to activate the signal. We don’t want to get shot down or anything," said the plane’s pilot.

The forces waited, the original plan of sneaking in and stealing the sattellite, had of necesity been voided as soon as it was seen that the sattelite was already being sought after by the very kinds of people the team had been sent in to grab it from. The new plan was waiting and monitoring the situation. snipers were sent out, under cover and wearing ghillie suits even more high tech and stealthy than the special ops normal wear. Insted of simply monitoring the surrounding world with a few tiny fiberoptic lenses and choosing an appropraite pattern, albedo and level of lighting, the LEGION type Spec-Forces Ghillie suit was a marvel, monitoring the world through hundreds of fiberoptic lenses and light sensitive patches the suit was capable of creating its own, individual pattern by taking images from a set point of time (such as from insertion) and continually searching the captured images for simiarities of color, shape and relative location. As more images were acquired, the camoflauge became more complex and more concealing. the suit also had a special flap for concealing the gun, a 12.7mm SG-114 electronic firing, caseless precision weapon with a variable magnification, high resolution video scope with integral light intensification and thermal imaging. the weapons were masterpieces of the gun smiths art, capable of placing a round accurately on any target behind anything up to a light plate of armor at well over a kilometers range. The snipers carefully snuck to a suitable position to view the base and the combat taking place there while remaining as concealed as possible. radioing in their observations on special low intensity low frequency radios that were all but impossible to intercept.
Now all that was left was to wait form someone to win and for the team to sweep in and snatch the sattellite from their grasp.

*As the walls came crumbling down*

As blasts are heard outside the main building, Lt. Hubbard and an aide confer in an office... "Sir, all three walls have been breached and we are not at risk from an incursion by the enemy," said the aide with a note of hesitance in his voice.

With a heavy sigh, Lt. Hubbard walked over to his window and watched as small pieces fell off the wall. "Very well... send everyone to the bunker, download all the files on these computers and then torch them."

The aide ran off to issue the command to the rest of the compound. Within moments men were scurrying towards a small hole in the ground and began climbing down a ladder on the inside. The bunker was a two room instillation buried 100 feet below the ground. It had two main rooms and a small office where the commander would stay. In one room the sattelite sat on the ground with all types of scientific equipment scattered around it - and in the other hundreds of soldiers began finding spots to sit down and occupy themselves for what could be hours, days, or weeks.

Lt. Hubbard was the final person into the bunker and as he descended the ladder he reached out with one of his palms and laid it on a metal panel on the side of the wall. He removed his hand and continued his descent while a 15 ton blast door closed and locked in place - barring the entrance to the ladder and sealing off the bunker.

When he reached the bottom, Lt. Hubbard stepped through another portal and nodded to a pair of men standing next to a massive steal door. The men pushed with all their might until the 40 ton blast door was closed and then they finished locking it with five individiual manual locks. The door was installed with a laser protection system that if any attempt to bore a hole into the door was made, the metal bars would break, effectively sealing the door until massive machinery could be brought in to open it.

Lt. Hubbard proceded to his office where he walked over to his computer, hit one button that activated the security system inbetween the two blast doors. The ladder that once provided assistance to reach the bottom now receded into the side of the wall and all that was left was a long hole. The hole actually went farther down then where the 2nd blast door was as the floor also receded into the wall and another 20 feet of the hole appeared with an arrangement of spikes. IR Cameras turned on and a computer controlled M240 appeared pointing upwards at the top of what used to be the entrance to the hole.

Lt. Hubbard stepped out of his office and raised his hand for silence. "Men, if you ever have doubts in your life, just remember... 'I am a soldier of the Dominion. A vow of protection, of silence, and of loyalty I have made. One nation under all, I shall gaurd upon my soul, until God takes me from this earth. And if so be it, I shall walk into hell with a handgun in my right hand and a grenade in my left. This is why I serve and have pledged this life to its duty."

Use "Bateye" mode on your combat visors, and set it to show if a transmitter is transmitting on the secret frequency at that point. You have my congratulations on creating an innovative and unique system that I never expected when creating my camoflauge. Now I'll have to try again to create unbeatable camoflauge. On the AxS Liberty the crew of the carrier was finishing preparations for their first "real" aircraft launch ever. Eight F/A-1 Wasps had been prepared for launch, and Saber-1 was on the catapult. In a rage of smoke and noise, the plane was off. One by one, the other fighters in Saber and Gamma wings were off and safely on their way to Darkspace.

Less than a mile away, aboard the "Big Willie", Admiral O'Conner was again on the radio with Sam Sampson.

"Yes, DMG is sending a spec ops unit to support 2-group. Combined with 3-group and 4-group, we should be able to capture those SOB's alive."

"Ok, I'm relaying that to the group leaders."

"Good. I'm expecting good news soon."

-------------------------------------------------------
After firing their second rounds at the first enemy group, the remains of group 2 jumped into a natural ditch nearby, hoping that this cover would buy them enough time for reinforcements to arrive...

He'aether barely heard the noise, even with his genecticly modified hearing, but he still knew what it was.
"Ilistroiin!" He yelled, spinning around. He flipped his shot selector to auto and sprayed the area behind him with fire. To his eyes, and with the help of his helmet, the other soldiers appeared clearly in front of him, outlined in their red heat signatures. The rest of his team turned as well, and a heavy weapons member got a HE shell off before the scene devolved in a raging firefight.

ooc: enough ooc comments without any accompanying IC comments. you should probably state more about your group then if you want everyone to know that you have 13 soldiers rearguarding. A hand signal from the squad leader told the spec ops team to spread out and move in. They were about 400 yards away from the target enemies. A beep in their earpiece told them they were moving to radio silence.

Another hand signal came: Shoot first and shoot to kill - then they spread out and began proceeding. They were staying low and silent making sure not to make a noise. Guns at the ready, they were were poised to fire at any sign of movement or the enemy.

IC: Dan Johnson, a member of 2-group (the group pinned down in the trench) was on the verge of panic. His comrades and him were stuck in a ditch and there was no way out that he could see. He looked to his commanding officer, who looked surprisingly calm.

"Johnson, how far from us are those soldiers over there, do you think?"

"Oh, um, about 500 meters, sir"

"Ok, thanks."

The leader than turned to his radio and said "Saber-1, this is 2-leader. Our foes are about 400 meters northwest of our current position. You should be able to see them, or at least the flashes from their rifles."

"Understood 2-Leader"

Than Johnson heard a very comforting sound. Airplanes overhead. And not F-90 Guardian Angels. These were most definitely Axinonian Wasps, lined up to give the kill shot from above to their attackers. He gave a little smile and returned to firing his M8 at the enemy position.

He'aether's infrared/motion vision made the forest look grey, and the swaying branchs were marked with little target ID markers monitering movement. In the distance, faint traces of movement that were probably more branches moved as well. He looked away to his left, then back again. His helmet alert beeped, and the blips in the background were marked yellow instead of green. He saw why immediatly. "3-group, this is Saber-1. Do not advance on the enemy positions anymore. We are preparing to blast them from above."

With that, Saber-1 armed its AtS missiles, which were programmed to fly to and explode at a set location, using signals sent from the plane.

Saber-1 made one final check to make sure the coordinates were entered correctly and accurate, and then fired 2 missiles. His wingmate did the same...

Seeing that their air strike had failed to take out all of the enemy soldiers, the Axinonians started firing into the enemy ranks. Fortunately, most of the first enemy volley did not score hits. 1 man had his head blasted off by the heavy gun, and another was injured by it. Three others had sustained non-fatal bullet wounds. They too were firing in single shot mode, as they could now clearly see their foes through their "bateyes" and had no need for wasteful saturation fire.

Meanwhile, 4-group was also closing on the situation, although they were not yet close enough to do anything.

Leoniad, sergeant of second squad, reloaded and switched his weapon to auto. Leveling his gun, and ignoring another dropping Nistolonian, he sprayed the Axinon group with fire, starting on one end and moving to the other. About 3 other squad members copied him, while the rest continued to fire singlely, picking out the bright red targets on their HUDs.

The "bateye" would be able to pick up humanoid shapes among the trees, and also could easly pick up the R-10's shape.

IC: As expected, fire returned fire and what started as a light firefight had raged into an all out inferno. 3-leader calmly observed that the Nistolonians were using full auto, and decided to follow suit. He said to the men on either side of him, "switch to full auto"

Those were his final words. He caught a bullet straight through his aorta and died of internal bleeding within minutes. But the two he talked two did indeed switch over to full auto, and began spraying the area with fire. The other men, unaware of their former leader's last command, kept on firing at the enemy soldiers in front of them using one aimed shot at a time.

A man named Danny Shoe took over command of 3-group, which now numbered 15 men.

The two Snipers gave a good fight but really stood no chance against superior numbers. PFC Ali was the first of the two to get hit, a solid full on hit to his shoulder. gasping from the pain he flipped over to access his medkit, as soon as he did so he saw the approaching DMG soldiers.

forgetting his wound, and pumped full of adrenaline he raised his weapon to his injured shoulder and began spraying the approaching troops with bullets while the shock caused blood to spurt horrifically from the exit wound.

In the Mondothian Special forces combat uniform, there is a small suite of sensors to measure the soldiers vitals, this not only helps medics to quickly diagnose soldiers and allow commanders to assess their troops' readiness at a glance, it allows a downed soldier loaded with technology that any reasonable nation would give their livers for into a temptng booby trap, every special ops soldier earing an advanced uniform also wore a half pound of C-12 plastic explosive and multiple pounds of ceramic plate that made effective, light weight body armor, but was structured so that an explosion from inside the armor would cause maximum fragmentation. In death, Spec ops soldiers became the ultimate anti personell mine.

When PFC Ali died, his suit instantly registered it and began fusing wires and torching circuit boards, turning any piece of classified technolog on him into nothing more than slag. Meanwhile, a gyroscope was automatically spun up to provide a 'zero' for his current position and attitude, anyone disturbing the body without first deactivating the bomb via an encoded remote transmission would get a nasty surprise.

Seargent Shwarz was made of sterner stuff and when he went down he did it with thirteen bullet wounds oozing a mix that was more adrenaline than it was blood, his triggr finger, even in death tight on the trigger, but because the weapon was strictly three round burst, expending no more ammunition.

Finally after a fierce yet quick firefight, the two enemy soldiers were fallen. Their bodies were riddled with bullets and blood was spurting out. Their bodies were now slunk over in a pool of blood.

"Sir, what should we do with their bodies," said a private, pointing at the two dead enemies.

IC: The grenades took their toll. The force that had numbered in the mid teens was decimated by the shrapnel. Between the gun fire, the railgun and the shrapnel, 4 more died, while another 2 were wounded beyond the point of being able to fight.

It was not looking good at all. The paratroopers were outgunned. They could not match the firepower that the enemy brought to bear.

Then, when Shoe was about to order a retreat, he heard a voice from the trees behind him. It was hard to hear over the fire, but he was able to make out "How many men do you have left?" "What do you need us to do?".

A quick check of his bateye identified these soldiers as originating from DMG. He replied "We have 11 men left, but 2 are too hurt to fight. 4-group is almost here, and they have another 20 men. We mainly need reinforcements now. We can have 4-group and 2-group converge on the enemy, and trap them on 3 sides..."

Those Axinon soldiers are going to be overrun by the enemy soon if we don't help them out. They have already called for reinforcements as well as another missile strike, but we are going to back them up. The enemy is well entrenched and there are probably more of them guarding the backside. They are well equipped and most likely elite special forces - but so are we and this is our turf. Do you hear me men? They are in our backyard now and we are going to show them what the Dominion stands FOR!"

"HUZZAH!" came a muffled cheer from the other 7 team members. Again the captain signaled and the team moved out and began a flanking manuevre on the enemy. They had approached 300 yards away from the enemy's left flank when the leader had ordered for radio silence and a dispersal tactic to be employed. ---------Special Report------ ------Special Report------ ------Special Report------ ------Special Report------ ------Special Report------ ------Special Report---------

"We interrupt this broadcast for a breaking news event. In accordance with recent activities that have put the Dominion on high alert, the government has released a report confirming the infiltration of our nation by hostile enemy forces. For more we go to Senior Political Correspondent Trisha Corothalough: Trisha."

"Thank you Dan. Just minutes ago the government released a report confirming the crash landing of a foreign satellite on Dominion soil. While the nature of the satellite has not been revealed it is speculated that is of military grade. The Dominion Military recovered the satellite shortly after its landing and moved into an undisclosed location for further inspection and research.

It has now been revealed that multiple enemy covert forces are operating inside the Dominion's borders without government approval - it seems that foreign organizations or nations would like to get their hands on the satellite for unknown reasons. The government, however, has agreed to return the satellite back to its origin in Axinon as soon as its security can be confirmed.

Reports also revealed that earlier today a lone fishing boat was discovered of the Dominion coast. The navy dispatched a cutter to rendezvous with the boat - and it found the occupants of the boat to be of foreign nationality. In accordance with Martial Law being decreed, the navy brought the boat to shore and escorted the crew to a military base for further investigation. A search of the boat resulted in an explosion and the death of three military technicians. Immediately following the event the ship's crew was placed under military arrest for conspiracy against the state and treason. After much intense interrogation of the crew, it was found out that they were spies from Mondoth.

Approximately five hours ago ago the crew of the "fishing boat" was tried on multiple accounts of conspiracy against the state and conspiracy to commit treason. The entire crew was found guilty as charged and just fifteen minutes they were sentenced to death. At 3:17 the entire crew was executed by firing squad.

Back to you Dan."

Saber-1 was bored out of his mind. His squadron had been forced to disengage from the Darkspace area due to fuel problems, and as the refueling plane had not been deployed, the 8 aircraft were forced to return to the fleet. "Saber-1 this is AxS Liberty, what’s going on up there?"

"I've spotted a small fleet of ships near sector 5334. Are those DMG or Axinonian ships?"

"..........Negative, those ships are not ours and do not match the description of any ships in DMG's fleet."

"May I assume that they are enemies? Our planes still have missiles remaining, should we fire?"

"Negative, you'd be roasted by their AA defenses. Return to the fleet. We will investigate"

"Affirmative."

Within moments of the aircraft's return, the Axinonian fleet had mobilized. While not a true battlefleet, Taskforce Guardian could bring a large amount of firepower to bear. It was, at least, much closer to the enemy fleet than the DMG navy was. On the Carriers, flight teams were preparing Wasps and Blackhunters for combat ops. OOC: I have to disagree on that. If a battleship is protected by decent AA and missile defenses, it can still be a force to be reckoned with. A 16 or even 14 inch shot from a naval gun can penetrate the armor of nearly all cruisers/destroyers and the thick armor of a battleship can withstand a good number of missile hits (at least from the smaller stuff that is likely to get through the defenses). My naval force in the area does not have many battleships though. The backbone of its strength is its carriers and missile-ships, although it does have battleships, battlecruisers and gun cruisers for melee fighting (SEE in ADC: All of my ship types except "Ultimatum", "Millenium Wall", "Exorcest", "Flytrap", "Seastalker" and "Dynamic")

IC: "Well, it seems they know that we are attacking." an aide said to the commander of the AxS Liberty, the flagship of the fleet now that the "Big Willie" had detached.

"Order the crews to their planes. We are going to launch as many airplanes as we can get in the air. Use all of the Blackhunters, and a third of the Wasps for air superiority. Arm a third of the Wasps for surface attack, and give the others a mixed load. As for the ships, organize the Solomans into two flanker groups in case we get in range. Move the carriers to the center of the formation. Make sure that the O'Conners, the Coons and the Carriers have at least some AA escort. Prepare the subs to dive. Let’s do this people."

Meanwhile, up above the atmosphere, the little brother of the satellite that started this whole mess was pointing down on the battlefield like an overgrown, CIWS equipped metal can. One press of a button from Admiral O'Conner, and the satellite launched 2 high-yield conventional warhead loaded missiles toward the enemy flagship [OOC: The Red Cobra]. Statement by the Mondothian Government
Your accusations are meaningless, we have no Mondothian agents in that area, If you wish to press the subject in light of your current situation then we can have nothing but contempt for your poor intelligence services and lack of national sense of proportion, look to the foreign invaders that you have only recently discovered before you make baseless accusations about intelligence assets we allegedly had off your coast.

Monodthian Command
"Sir, we have detected a sattelite based launch over DMG sovereign waters. there appears to be a naval battle taking place, the two missile are targetted on the Nistlonian fleet.

"Deploy a satphage take that thing out, and deploy the thirty second to backup our forces in the area, if either of those fleetstakes up a support role for taking that sattelite then our men on the ground are doomed."

"Yes sir."

The missile was deployed from a Mondothian SSGN just off the Modnothian coast, it was accellerated to mach three by a relatively small rocket booster before the SCRAMJET ignited taking the missile to over mach six in the upper atmosphere and propelling it into space where it assumed a skipping trajectory, using its scramjet on the downswing to keep moving forward. as it neared the sattelite, its tertiary booster ignited sending it hurling towards the sattelite, as it neared to kill range, the missile exploded sending hundreds of tiny tungsten cubes hurling towards the sattelite, designed to trash it completely, the cubes were moving in excess of 7000 km/h like some hellish shotgun blast.

On the surface, the thirty second fleet got its sailing orders and began churning wake towards DMG. The fleet was the first of the FMCV bombardment fleets, equiped with several arsenal type ships armed with massive numbers of missiles and supported by gun armed ships as well as a few fleet carriers and fleet defense cruisers and destroyers.

"Sir, we've recieved a report from the Vengance Sattlite." an operator said to his commanding officer

"Yes?"

"Well, the missles it launched seem to be well on their way. They have reached such high velocities that they are all but impossible to stop now. However..."

"Yes?"

"It seems that it was attacked by an Anti-Sattlite missle launched from an area near Mondoth. Our sattlite's defenses are designed around a Harpoon missle like attack on it. They used a fragmenting missle..."

"And"

"Well, the CIWS was not programmed to engage missles at the range it detonated at. When the thing exploded, its shapnel closed rapidly on the sattlite. When it reached the CIWS attack range, a good number of projectiles were vaporized. However, most of the projectiles penetrated these outer defenses, and many sruck the sattlite itself. Damage assesment is underway, but so far it appears that the armor was able to shield the main computer and the missle silo from any major damage. However, the manuvering mecanism has been totaled, the plutonium reactor has been hevaley damaged and we are not yet sure whether we can operate the launcher in its current state. It is definately salvageable however. If we can get an unmanned repair operation up there, it could be operational in as little as 9 months."

"Well, thats bad news. Clearly the defense system of the sattlite is deficient. We are going to need to install new equipment. However, for the time being we cannot afford to loose this sattlite's capabilities. Tell me when you find out if the launcher is operational or not."

"Yes, Sir"

Official Communication from the Axinonian Government to the Mondothian Government

Recently, one of your missle emplacements attacked, unprovoked, one of our millitary sattlites. As our two countries are not at a state of war, are not hostile to each other, and indeed have never interacted in any meaningful way, this greatly disturbs us. We request that your nation pays the full bill for repairs to the sattlite.

Admiral O'Conner had just walked into the room. He was quickly pulled to the side by a sattlite photo analyst

"Admiral, I think you should see this. Look here. It appears that Mondoth has mobilized their navy."

O'Conner said nothing for a second, and then slowly walked over to an encrypted communication phone. He slowly diled the number of the Presidential Mansion encrypted hotline.

"Will," he bluntly mumbled into the phone, "We have a problem here."

"What?"

"Mondoth has mobilized a fleet, and it seems to be headed tword DMG."

"Damn, how many battlefleets do we have ready to go?"

"Battlefleets 1 through 3 are fully operational and on alert. Battlefleet 4 is en route from Sarzonia. The other battlefleets are not operational yet..."

"Very well. Get all operational battlefleets ready for action, and organize the crew of Battlefleet 4 so when it arrives it is ready to send off"

Official Message to the Mondoth Government

As we have said, there is no use denying your hand in the recent conflict. We have recently been informed by Axinon, that you preemptively fired a anti-sattelite missile at one of its orbiting sattelites - this makes us wonder why you would do such a thing if you were not involved in recent events.

Also, and more disturbingly, our intelligence tells us that you have mobilized a fleet and have begun heading towards the Dominion. Again we ask why you would be doing such a thing if you were not involved in recent events.

Nonetheless, it is of little concern if you deny it or not. However, if your fleet maintains its course towards the Dominion, you will feel the full brunt of our force.

Further more, Government remains quiet on the developing DMG crises and refuses to comment on the mobilisation of the newly commissioned Thirty Second Fleet.

The Thirty Second Fleet
As the fleet churned towards its new area of operation, the fleets comander Admiral Omar al Saled recieved orders to conceal his movements as much as possible. SHortly afterwords the word went out.
The fleets Combat AIr patrols were curtailed to a much smaller track over the fleet to minimilise their chances if being detected before the fleet was in range and radars were shifted to Low Intensity/Low Probabilty of Intercept, lowering the range of detection and resolution but again amaking it less likely that a stray radar signal would beintercepted before the fleet was in range.
The final step was powering up the defense ships electronics warfare systems that would identify hostile radar sets and selectively jam them to make it appear that the fleet was either not there, or much smaller than it actually was. Additionaly, the ELectronics warfare systems included a suite of equipment very similiar to that found on the Black Boat, but instead it used very specific laser frequencies to blur the ships and make the fleet apear to be nothing more than wavelettes on the water caused by wind or schools of fish. The system made no attempt to disable the sattelites as that would give away the fleet position.
Under this virtual cloak of electronic invisibilty, the fleet cntinued its approach in silence.

Also, I would like to take this chance to remind you that you still have yet to respond to our message on the satellite issue. I will repeat what my government said earlier, we demand that your nation pays in full the price of any repairs or replacement that may be needed on our satellite.

Notice to Enemy Combatants:

We are once again warning you that your current course of action will be leading you into Dominion Maritime Waters and into direct conflict with the Dominion's Fleet. We have triangulated the position of your fleet and are currently tracking it with multiple real-time sattelites. Air supremecy in the region has been secured by the combined power of the Dominion's Air Force and Navy with help from The Armed Republic of Guerreros (Our ally). You have three hours to stand down and turn your fleet back to Mondoth waters. This is your last warning. If you refuse to stand down, we will declare war.

"Sir, I believe they have us located."

"Allright, bring the fleet to a full stop, put the whole sky on blackout, if you can't bling it, jam it so they can't get an image out, tell Pegasus Actual they'll be going it alone for now."

"Roger sir, sending orders."

As the new orders went out, the fleet came to a halt just over the horizon from the contested waters, a few minutes later, the attempts at concealing the fleets location were no longer subtle, full use was made of lasers and jamming equipment, changing a fuzzy area into a black hole. Out of this black hole crept three watercraft, barely large enough to be classified ships they were shaped much like stealth fighters and made out of similiar materials, they were colored in such a way as to avoid detection by the naked eye and they ran on almost perfectly silent MHD thrusters and hydrogen power plants. They were Low Observable configured Mercury class Corvettes equipped to perform special operations in places they weren't wanted.
Under cover of the fleets protective electronic cloak, they slunk away, staying away from the conflicting fleets but still making their way towards the DMG coast.

Message to Axinon:
We apologize for the destruction of your sattelite, however, other than a defficiency of maritime defenses we had no part in the destruction of said sattelite, it seems that some unknown nation or organization has taken it upon themselves to implicate us most severely in the DMG situation and we assure you that no expense is being spared in pursuit of the agencies responsible for the penetration of a foreign missile submarine so close to our coast and the placing of agent provacateurs in the waters of DMG.

OOC: Sorry about not posting. I've been busy with school.
And about the battleshps, regardless of what the techwankers say, its very hard to make a ship with armour thick enough to stop a tomahawk missile or an AGS shell. The big 14in guns are nice, but missile are more accurate and smaller. I'm not saying battleships are worthless, but its more cost effective to build 5 destroyers then one battleship, where you get the same firepower in 5 different ships. But anyway.
IC:

The Nistolonian defence satelittes picked up the two missiles that had just been launched and relayed the information back to Command. The computers there selected the best launch site for a anti-missile launch and fired. The long range missiles shot up, and three Sideinder interceptors were launched as backup.

Back at task force revenge, the AGSs and LRMs had come into range, and the air was filled with the sounds of weapon discharges as they locked on and fired, assisted by the hovering vipers near the Axinon fleet.

IC The two missiles streaked toward the aircraft carrier. The first one got close, but was blasted out of the air by a countermissle. The second got to within 200 m, but was too destroyed. Parts of the housing hit the intended target, but most of the mass fell harmlessly into the ocean.

On board the command ship, the AxS Liberty, a radar operator yelled out "Captain, the ships are within missile range"

"FIRE" yelled the captain into his intercom, alerting the whole fleet to begin launching.

On board the assorted Cruisers, Battleships, Destroyers and Battlecruisers, the sound of VLS and XSSM systems roaring into action was deafening. In mere moments, a hailstorm of missile was headed straight at the enemy fleet. Meanwhile, on board the AxS Bobby Angstrom [a Falcon-Class destroyer optimized for AA ops], the radar control person noticed a few blips near the fleet.

"Liberty, this is Bobby Angstrom. We've detected enemy airships on our radar. Requesting permission to engage."

"Permission granted. You, along with 3 other FalClass and six Blackhunters will engage."

Presently the Bobby Angstrom changed course to head straight at these new targets.

"Radar lock.... FIRE"

The SAM battery on the Angstrom roared to life, firing 2 missiles at the first target. The other ships did the same, engaging 4 targets this way. Meanwhile, a group of Blackhunters lifted off the decks of the Liberty, and made a beeline at the radar points.

We have plans to begin the exportation of your sattelite within two days time. The battallion currently guarding DarkSpace will be used to provide security for the transportation of the sattelite. We will be bringing in a heavy load quarry truck to handle the transportation of the sattelite - it is currently en route to Darkspace and should arrive within the day. As the three small corvettes cleared the 'black shroud' it disapeared completely revealing a small force of ships scattering to the winds and headed slowly back towards their duty stations. The eight man team had heard that rather than getting airlifted, there were trucks coming from Ft. Blane, which they'd remembered from thier briefing was to the southeast of thier present location. The team, being careful to leave little to no trace, as well as moving silently began heading toward the roads leading to Ft Blane. Once there they sent one member to spy on the convoy.

As the convoy approached, the eight members took careful aim, aiming to take the ten members on the outside of the truck, and to disable the three vehicles.

As the convoy was driving towards Darkspace, it was ambushed. Three of the four guards on the outside of the truck were instantly killed and fell from their extreme heights. The fourth guard was hit in his leg, knocking him off the top of the truck and down thirty feet, breaking his neck and killing him.

The car flanking the truck on its right was hit in the front right wheel, causing it to drift off to the right and hit a snow bank. The car performed five full role overs, killing three of the four members. The fourth member was thrown from the car and landed in the snow.

The car flanking the truck on the left hit the breaks and skidded to a stop. The four man team jumped out of the vehicle on the back side and proceeded to return fire.

Back in the truck, the driver reported back to CentCom, "We've been hit. Ambushed on the way to Darkspace. Send backup." The remaining five guards hit the ground to take cover. From their vantage points on top of the truck, the five guards returned fire.

The four guards of the remaining vehicle dispersed quickly as the grenade came into view. Running off the side of the road and hiding behind various snow banks.

The four choppers arrived shortly after the incident. Getting the thumbs up sign from the "guards" on the truck, the choppers proceeded to escort the truck to Darkspace.

When the truck arrived it was met by the entire battallion that had been stationed there. They escorted it as close to the bunker entrance as possible so as to load the sattelite.

In the bunker the technicians were finishing up stablizing the sattelite for transportation. They added an internal, remote controlled self destruction bomb to the core of the sattlite and then proceeded to load it onto the massive truck.

When the sattelite had been finished loading, a message was sent to AxS Jason Coon:
The bird has been loaded. Escorting to coast now. ETA four hours - be ready.

The convoy then moved away from the wasteland that was Darkspace. The some two hundred armored vehicles and 2000 soldiers provided a circle of protection for the truck as the four choppers maintained their defensive perimeter in the air.

The corvettes anchored off shore, well away from enemy fleets, DOminion patrols and shore defenses. As they did so, one of the three corvettes, one equipped for launching air missions deployed five stealth helicopters. Three AH-71 low observable light attack helicopters and two UH-29 low observable heavy lift helicopters, the small force stayed low, following the terrain to avoid radar and other detecion systems towards the Commando force which was moving quickly to a safe position to be picked up. As soon as the two forces' paths converged the commandos would load up intot he two heavy lift choppers which would carry them back to the corvettes and relative safety. There had been no way to predict the unprecedented number of special forces from various nations that had shown up, nor the total failure of the most advanced camoflauge system available. While the mission was not a total failure (the knowledge that the camoflauge had a fatal flaw alone was worth the small loss of life necesary to learn about it) the mission would have to be carried out by the Mondothian Navy, in the face of multiple full fledged battle fleets ready to fight for the sattelite themselves.

The purpose of the corvettes was not just to recover the commando force, although that was a suitable mission on its own. The corvettes also carried the ubiquitous accompanyment to any Mondothian military action, the RS-12 Silent Crow Stealth reconaisance and Surveilance drone. Capable of being launch from any 2x2meter flat area via a compact, easy to assemble and use launch assembly the drones could be deployed easily any where in the world, And their stealth features made them invisible as only a flying saucer merely a meter and a half in diamter could be. Made entirly of RAM and RTM, covered in LCD screens to replicate the light and weather conditions, as well as the virtually nil IR signature put any radars capable of even detecting one, let alone tracking it consistently on the endangered species list.
Even as the anchors were being dropped, the distinctive 'Chok-Twang' sound of the DL-1 Drone Launcher Mechanism could be heard over the sea noise, meaning that the capable little dromes were being forcibly hurled into the air where they soared gracefully towards their target areas over and around the Darkspace facility. The drones quickly found and identified the location of the sattelite and began loitering over it, invisibly tracking the sattelite as it made its way to sea.

The fleet acted down and out and on the run, but while it fled the scene, evry ship began dropping small canisters into the water by the hundreds. these canisters quickly sunk to predetermined depths and then floated quietly at neutral buoyancy, waiting for the signal to activate.

The Jason Coon was ready. As close in as a ship of its size could be to shore, it waited for the satellite to arrive. At the insistence of O'Conner, it received an escort of 4 Falcon-Class Destroyers, 1 Flytrap-Class AA Destroyer, 1 Pelican-Class Sub Destroyer and 1 Millennium Wall-Class Anti-Missile Cruiser.

Of course the commander of the Coon thought it was unnecessary. "This ship is fast, can hold its own when fighting both aircraft and subs, and above that is carrying out a mission in allied territory. What could happen?"

But O’Conner insisted, saying that the satellite was too important to risk. Destruction by a sting airplane or sub attack could not be chanced. Thus the pickup, which should have just been an easy job for a freighter, was transformed into an operation involving 8 warships.

The naval group idled off the cost, waiting for the satellite to arrive...

At shore waited a shallow water barge to transport the sattelite from the truck to the transport ship.

The convoy had left Darkspace with the sattelite be guarded by 8 Axinon soldiers in the back of the truck.

"Hello, this is Billy Jimmy Willie of Axinon News Network

We have just found out in spite of a massive government cover-up that Axinon has deployed troops in DMG. When we asked a high ranking government official, he responded that 'there are events going down in DMG that threaten the stability of our nation as well as that of our allies'. When asked about this, President William McConnel said he was running late for a meeting with his chef. We have little information on how many men are over there, except eyewitness sightings of "Hundreds" of warships sailing through the Western Passage out of Extrilla Gulf. We will report more as information becomes available"

The other Sean was about to make his move when they all heard "Sam Sampson, this is George O'Conner"

In horror, the Axinonian soldiers realized that Sampson left his comlink to maximum volume to wake him up if anything major happened.

"Ughhhhhh..... This is Sampson. Yes it is secure. Yeah, some Dominion soldiers and some of my men are riding with it now. Ok sir. Ok. See you at the base."

He picked his head up, saw his men playing cards and threw a fit.

"What the f*** do you think you are doing?!?!?!?!?! You lazy candy-a**ed sons of b****es!!! Get the he** back to your f***ing stations you s***-brains" he screamed at his men.

With that, the Axinonians slowly shuffled back towards their positions around the satellite. However, in the screaming fit, none of them heard the creaking open of a hatch...

"Sorry about that." Mark said as the Axinon peoples got chewed out. He then gathered the cards back into their decks.

The seventh had inserted a small downloader*, and closed, but not sealed the panel. He then stepped back while the device copyed any data on the databanks, stripping it regardless of encryption.

IC: Sampson, now wide awake, surveyed the hold. Everything seemed to be in order. He took a glance at his GPS receiver. They would be arriving at the cost soon. And then they would be going home. Out of the hellish forest they had dropped into unprepared. Back home with real food and real beds and no worries about being shot. He smiled, and surveyed the satellite.

Official Press Release

At 0700 hours this morning, the foreign born nuclear sattelite that has been the thorn in our sides for the last few days, officially left Dominion land and is on its way home. The government has issued the retraction of martial law and daily life will be returning to normal shortly.

We are planning a mutual phase down of military and naval forces between us and any combatants. We have taken the first step and brought our armed forces to Defense Condition 2. If our enemies respond in kind, we will bring our forces to Defense Condition 4 and return to territorial waters.

I am giving you orders to return to the spot of conflict on your route to Darkspace. Please recover your fellow soldier's bodies and clean up the area.

Meanwhile, the eighth had set up the auto detonator, that John had rigged to the C-4 on the satallite. As he took the garbage from the truck and tossed it into the trash, he tossed the detonator, artfully concealed in a chip bag, to the side. It was set for six minutes, which would mean the barge was well in range of the detonator's range. Incidentally the detonator would self destruct after it launched it's signal.

As the eight got into the morgue truck, they jointly smiled, and headed toward the site of their escape.

The barge moved swiftly towards the Jason Coon. In very little time, it had pulled up alongside the Battlecruiser, and cranes proceeded to load the satellite onto the deck of the bigger ship

3 minutes left...

The sheer bulk of the satellite made it hard to move

2 minutes left...

Sam Sampson surveyed the area. It was all over, or so he thought

1 minute left...

The satellite was lowered onto a large cart for transport to the lower decks. Its naval grade armor made moving it hard, but the many men on the ship pitched in and the cart was moving well towards the hold

30 seconds left...

Sean was munching on a bag of chips. Ben and Will were pushing the satellite.

10...9...8...7...

The sea was unusually calm. Not a wave in sight

6...5...4...3...2...

"I wonder how my parakeet is doing?" wondered Ben

1...0!!!!

A large explosion rocked the deck of the AxS Jason Coon. The satellite was blown off its cart and collided with one of the massive 18" guns on the ship. The maintainence hatch door was blown clear into the ocean. 5 of the people pushing the cart, including Ben, were burnt to a crisp. 18 more died of shrapnel wounds. On top of that, 29 were wounded, including Sean. The satellite itself remained mostly intact, but the area just around the explosion was a mess of twisted wire, slag and melted Titanium. The ship took damage to a VLS near the explosion, as well as the turret that was struck by the satellite

"Holy F***ing S***!!!!" yelled Sampson, who had survived with nothing but a few fragments of TACM to his arm. "Get a medical crew on deck at once!!!!"

Within moments, damage control crews, medics, curious sailors and the remains of the 32nd paratrooper division crowded the main deck. The ship captain, fearing that they were under attack from an unseen foe, ordered the ship to go at full speed back to Axinon.

In the confusion that followed, medics tended the wounded while the healthy retrieved the satellite from the VLS it had wedged itself in. Fortunately, none of the ship's weapons storage areas had been damaged, or the Jason Coon could have found itself at the bottom of the ocean in no time at all.

Sampson called up O'Conner with the bad news...

As the team took the 'stolen' morgue truck to ostentasously gather the bodies of the dead, they heard the explosion. To a man, they made a special gesture for the dead on all sides that had fallen.

As they reached the coast, they stripped off the DMG uniforms, slid the field wet-suits they'd stashed on, and waded out into the water. They then swam down and toward the stashed transport devices, unzipping them, they pulled them out. They then gunned the engines, taking them at a very fast clip toward pick-up, at a spot well away from DMG's maritime and costal waters.

Even as they escaped, another team entered Axinon, for the purpose of damage repair.*

ooc: * Essentially, when the Jason Coon returns, and they find out who the dead/wounded are, the families of the dead and the wounded will receive annoymus compensation for the damages caused.

The drones quickly established the location of the sattelite and all but one returned to the corvettes which were rapidly moving back into international waters, trying their hardest to stay away from patrols, they had been lucky so far but luck could always run out. The one remaining drone stayed on position tracking the sattelite to the ship that was going to carry it back to Axinon and then passed that information on to the retreeting battlefleet which relayed the data to Mondoth Aerial Mapping &Survey Co. which tasked a sattelite to track the ship. It ws just as the sattelite came on board that the drone stopped recording and thus, it was not until several minutes after the explosion that the sattelite picked up surveilance.

"What the hell happened?"
"It looks like a class 2 explosive event occurred, probably generated from the underside of this hatch here," The analyst pointed to a hatch on the imagery from the drone just before it stopped recording and then to the digital image on the computer showing the after effects.
"I cans ee that, who put the explosives there and why?"
"You just can't get that sort of data from sattelites and we don' thave the inteligence assets in place to find out, the guess is that its one of the nations that sent agents in to try and capture the sattelite but that again is obvious."
"I want more information about who did this and how, if we're luck then we won't have to have anythng more to do with this effup."
"I hear you sir, we're working as hard as we can to ind out whether or not whoever did this can or will try again."
"Good, mae sure the fleet knows not to act until its confirmed that the target is intact and aboard that ship."
"yessir."

At the 'scattered' fleet the ships had stopped dropping the canisters and was now also slowing down and maneuvering back into formation, the decoys followed and soon a formation apparently of close to 100 fleet vessels had assembled in international waters. The canisters had sunk to positions above and below the thermocline layers and waited for the signal, a predetermined series of sonar pings that would set the canisters off.

The Jason Coon and its escorts sped towards the Axinonian Battlefleet, in which they would find certain safety (as it consisted of well over 250 ships, compared to the relatively small numbers deployed by the enemies). To cover the retreat, the 15 aircraft carriers of the fleet began to launch helicopters and Wasps for anti-ship and anti-sub ops while launching Blackhunters for interception and air superiority. The Devastator-Class, Griffon-Class and Skipjack-Class attack subs dove, and began seeking enemy targets to engage. The whole scene looked like one out of some war movie, except the sailors had no idea what they would have to fight when, or even if.
