MEMO
TO: LEADERS OF ALL CORPORATE CONSUMERIST STATES
FROM: CHAIRMAN WILLIAM STRYKER, FEDERATION OF JOINT CONGLOMERATES

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to, if I may, put forth to you a question. Why does one go into business? A simple enough question at the offset, one whose response is equally simple: to generate profit. We of the private sector do not ask a great deal- simply an environment in which to perform efficient, productive and lucrative business transactions.

It has become increasingly apparent to the Federation of Joint Conglomerates, and I am sure to your respective nations as well, that there are many governments that do not see as clearly as we do. Constant pressure from the UN, so-called "human rights activists", and positive myriads of do-gooder nations, each with an apparent Robin Hood complex, seek to undercut the noble corporate enterprise at every turn. We grow impatient, as I am sure you do, with those that would have the world believe that the tedium of the lives of common lower class citizens is of greater import than generating revenue.

It is because any individual with basic facilities for common sense can see the need for giving greater freedoms to the corporate sector that we the Federation of Joint Conglomerates make the following proposal: an international, interregional alliance of all states classified as "corrupt" or "iron fisted consumerists" by the blind, insignificant UN. In time, we hope to develop our own corporate region where choking human rights and anti-slavery laws are non-existant, where all enterprises may freely engage in the innocent practice of population thinning, and where all who may oppose us will quickly be silenced. In short, ladies and gentlemen, a place where we will be free to engage in the business of business.

We hope that this proposal is agreeable to you. Should you have any additional concerns, we would be delighted to address them. We hope to hear from you shortly.

Thank you, and God bless the almighty dollar.

In a cavernous, glass-encased boardroom in the top floor of a five hundred story sky scraper, twelve men and women in mute business suits sit around a giant, mahoganey conference table. At one side of the room, a man stands staring out the window, his back to the twelve executives, hands clasped demurley behind his back.

"With all appropriate respect, Chairman Stryker, what if other corporate states do not agree to join in your proposed alliance? My weapons and uranium firm is deeply feeling the effects of these ludicrous UN legislations."

The man at the window laughs softly to himself, and turns to face the conference table. Although the room is flooded with light, he appears to be cloaked in shadow...
