OOC: This is an rp dealing with a congressionaly debate of an internal matter. Just make up a person who is in the South Pacific Congress. The characters will debate various domestic issues and international trade. Some aspects of their personal lives should also be portrayed. This should be a good spot for anyone who wants to work on character development. Any takers?

Congressman Vance Newman, representing the state of Tasmania, has introduced legislation to draw down the USSP's 31 trillion dollar debt.
"Consumer debt in the South Pacific is a huge problem" said the silver haired, 47 year old, Tasmanian Congressman. "The average household debt is $20,000. And households are paying up to 19% of their incomes each month to make payments on these debts. South Pacific consumers have an average credit card debt of $250,000. Proof that our nation's laws regulating the credit card industry are too lax toward big business and don't do enough to protect naive consumers. The credit laws must be changed to protect the people." he said from the lectern, pausing to sip a glass of ice water.
"How can we expect foreign investment with debt at such high levels?" he continued, "My legislation would address these problems by banning financial institutions from giving credit cards to any one who is under 25. Further, my legislation provides for debt relief for the average South Pacific family. As for the foreign debt, my legislation will mandate that 10% of our nation's budget be used for debt repayment payments. Mr. Speaker, I open the floor."
